Ben Askren not only shocked the world by exiting the RIZIN FF Welterweight Tournament, but also by being submitted in less than 50 Seconds. Askren has spoken about his regret at returning from Retiring, questioning his own ability going forward. Brad Tavares won Knockout Of The Night against Jotko. A rumoured Middleweight Championship is apparently in the works and Tavares has possibly just thrown his name into the hat. Roberto de Souza continued his good form with a victory over Lepont. Sanders and Gorgees picked up victories in their debuts whilst Raimond Magomedaliev advanced to The RIZIN FF Light Heavyweight Tournament Semi Finals. Prochazka lost in his only UFC bout against Modesta Bukauskas via Knockout in the 1st round. RIZIN FF saw this as the perfect opportunity to resign "Denisa" who's contract expires after his next scheduled bout in July where he faces Magomed Ankalaev. With RIZIN FF currently holding The RIZIN FF Light Heavyweight Tournament, there is no better time than now for Prochazka to return to a division that is set to light the company on fire. Kron Gracie also left for UFC and struggled with his performances, losing all 3 by decision. 1 notable opponent was Cub Swanson. Kron rejoins RIZIN FF as he looks to relight his career. RIZIN FF also announce the signing of Wagner Prado from Brave CF. Prado most recently defeated Marcin Lazarz for The Brave CF Light Heavyweight Championship which he has now vacated to sign for RIZIN FF. Daichi Abe joins from ONE Championship on a long term deal. Abe joins on a 5 fight win streak and at only 29, RIZIN see this as a long term prospect. Former UFC fighter James Vick looks to refind prior form as he signs for RIZIN FF in The RIZIN FF Lightweight Division, as does Marc Diakiese who signs from UFC also. Alan Yoshihiro Yamanilha signs to RIZIN FF's Bantamweight division, winning both of his last 2 fights. Yutaka Saito defended his Deep Championship, vacated it and then left for RIZIN FF. However, news broke that Saito had failed a drugs test, the result was over turned and a suspension was handed to the Japanese star. RIZIN FF are yet to comment. Another victim of UFC Cuts saw Thomas Almeida released. He has since signed for RIZIN FF after 3 consecutive losses. Elias Garcia joins RIZIN FF from KOTC after winnings all 5 of his last 5. In other RIZIN FF news, Gilbert Melendez has successfully appealed his drug suspension. The suspension has now been lifted fully and Melendez can and will return to the ring. RIZIN officials have confirmed that Melendez will continue to the next round of The RIZIN FF Featherweight Tournament where he is set to face the winner of Mikuru Asakura and Ricardo Lamas which looks set for RIZIN FF 33. Rothwell has previously defeated Struve and a win here could seal a potential Championship spot for either man. Tyson Pedro and Gokhan Saki both debut after being cut by UFC. Both men are capable of becoming stars within RIZIN FF as they look to advance to the next tournament round. Ante Delija and Tanios close The Preliminary Bouts with a huge Heavyweight Division clash. Corey Anderson joins RIZIN's Light Heavyweight Division after testing free agency for the last few months. RIZIN continue to fill their Light Heavyweight Division. Russian Artem Frolov joins from ONE Championship after winning his last 4 Middleweight bouts. The Lightweight Division see's Justin Gaethje sign after taking a short hiatus from MMA. Gaethje was quoted as saying that UFC President Dana White didnt seem too interested in his future so after time away, felt Japan would be a great place to make a name for himself. James Vick, who has a loss to Gaethje also signs. RIZIN FF are said to be keen on growing their Women's Divisions and have signed a host of ladies to step up efforts. Alexa Grasso, Brianna Van Buren and Livia Renata Souza fill The RIZIN FF Super Strawweight Division whilst Alesha Zappitella, Herica Tiburcio and Janaisa Morandin join The RIZIN FF Super Atomweight Division. It is likely that RIZIN FF are building the Super Strawweight Division for a Championship Tournament, whilst adding new contenders for Ayaka Hamasaki's Super Atomweight Championship. Jouban remains a top contender, but RDA advances to the next round and currently sits as favorite to walk away as RIZIN FF Welterweight Champion. Diakiese impressed in his debut. Mizuto Hirota announced his retirement from the sport, thanking all of his fans and RIZIN. He said that a run of losses, combined with his age is the reason he feels he cannot compete with the growth of the company. Ben Rothwell also announced his retirement after defeating Struve for the 2nd time in his career. Rothwell said that he had felt he had done it all, except win a world championship. He said that at his age he does not have too long to wait for a championship chance in line behind those who were ranked above him. Struve told the fans that he is still young enough to get better and will soon be back in top form. Pedro helped Saki to his 4th loss in a row and will advance to the next round of The RIZIN FF Light Heavyweight Tournament. Kotetsu Boku also announced his retirement. With only 2 of the 7 preliminary bouts ending in a finish, the crowd were becoming difficult by the end. Luckily Ante Delija and Isi Fitikefu were aiming to please. Diaz signs for RIZIN FF but categorically states that UFC did not enter negotiations. Diaz was quoted to saying "Nah F*** those guys, man. Im here to get paid and to win belts". Rumours that RIZIN FF will soon be holding a Middleweight Tournament are stronger than ever with this marquee signing. RIZIN FF also announced the signing of Paige Van Zant who has been without an employer for a few months since her UFC Contract was not extended. RIZIN also announce further signings, Demarte Pena, Chan Mi Jeon, Zoumana Cisse, Agnieszka Niedzwiedz and Trevin Giles all join on long term contracts. Hamasaka's victory over Yu Frey is the 2nd of her career, Yu Frey announced he retirement whilst The Champion will look for a new challenger. Thomas Almeida high impressed, the crowd cheered as he told them his sights were set on Horiguchi, but a fight with The Champion may be some time off yet after Horiguchi has called for Ian McCall to delay his retirement for 1 more fight. McCall headlined the preliminarys with a victory over long time rival and former RIZIN FF Bantamweight Champion Manel Kape. Mikuru Asakura advanced to the next stage of The RIZIN FF Featherweight tournament after defeating former UFC star Ricardo Lamas. Seo Hee Ham defeated Naho Sugiyama but announced her retirement immediately after. Still very young, Hee Ham said that her 2 losses to The Current Champion has left her doubting herself. Nogueira has suffered whats being described as a "Major Head Injury". Yet to debut, Nogueira signed for RIZIN FF's Light Heavyweight Division. A short notice replacement as been found in Team Nogueira member Wagner Prado. Prado arrived as Brave FC Light Heavyweight Champion with a run of 3 wins. Rockhold has been quoted as saying that he isnt worried about Prado or anyone else infront of him. RIZIN FF double down on announcements today with the huge signings of Former UFC and ONE Championship star Eddie Alvarez. Alvarez won 2 of 4 of his ONE bouts which include a loss to Christian Lee for The ONE Lightweight title. Alvarez is keen to look for a new challenge and has plans to become the face of RIZIN's Wetlerweight Division. They also announced the return of Rico Verhoeven who has been on hiatus from the sport. The tournament will begin as soon as RIZIN can arrange the first round of fights with their fighters. Rafael dos Anjos and Ismail Naurdiev will look to advance in The RIZIN FF Middleweight Tournament. dos Anjos is the favourite to walk away with the belt after Thompson and Askren's shock defeats.
