Saturday Week 3, August 2020

Live from the Fountain Square Theatre [indianapolis, Indiana, Great Lakes, USA]

58 people in attendance (same as last show)

Commentators: Marv Earnest & Honest Frank

qSIrNZu.jpg?1Vaq1dgZ.jpg

Earnest, “Hello and welcome back to another exciting night of Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis. We’re back in the Fountain Square Theatre -- the home of Championship of Wrestling from Indianapolis for tonight’s action. I’m Marv Earnest and I’m joined in the broadcast booth by the only man personally banned from Monaco by the princess herself, Honest Frank.”

Frank, “I told you Marv, that was a misunderstanding. Charlene and I are good now.”

Earnest, “Yet she won’t let you back in her country.”

Frank, “I don’t want to talk about it.”

Earnest, “Then let’s talk about what we have on the lineup for tonight. Conner Threepwood is here -- even though he doesn’t have a match -- to address the shocking attack from Sayeed Ali last month. Ali declared war on the Confederation of the Territories -- and he tried to get into a CZCW show in San Diego earlier this month -- but security kept him out and he has been going back and forth on Twitter with Ryan Powell -- the top Canadian wrestler in the COTT currently. What will our champion have to say?”

Frank, “I have a bold prediction that Conner Threepwood is going to wave the white flag of surrender. I saw the look in his eyes last month when Sayeed Ali busted him open and then dropped him on his own championship belt. Conner Threepwood wants no part of The East Side Assassin. Conner Threepwood is an elite professional wrestler. He’s a catch-as-catch-can wrestler. He makes people submit. Sayeed Ali hurts people, Marv. Sayeed Ali takes a sadistic pleasure in seeing another man bleed and knowing he caused it. He’s not a normal man. Conner knows that, so he’s going to wave the white flag tonight and tell Sayeed he’s sorry. He’s going to apologize for the Confederation of the Territories.”

Earnest, “I don’t think you’re right, but we will find out tonight. We’re also going to see The Canadian Blonds get in the ring against The Rock City Stars and Nate DeMarcus. The Blonds cost Nate DeMarcus the Indiana Championship last month -- and they stole the Tag Team Championships from the Rock City Stars so this is both professional and personal. The Femme Fatales will square off once again with Reece and Wells. The first time these two teams met, they went to a draw. The second time, Reece and Wells got a surprise victory. Tonight they go at it again. Will Reece and Wells get a definitive victory or will The Femme Fatales get a ‘W’ in their own column and push this to one more match? Zippy Deverell defends the Indiana Heavyweight Championship for the first time and so much more! We have a new member of the broadcast team starting tonight.”

Frank, “Unfortunately.”

Earnest, “Our new ringside interviewer and ring announcer, the recently retired legendary female wrestler, Steffi Chee. So let’s send it to Steffi for the introductions for our first match.”

The Casey Brothers versus The Player's Club [Jack Pryde & Charlie Corner]

Steffi Chee did a great job as the new ring announcer for this match-- before her, Marv was doing the play by play, ring announcing, and interviewing himself so this definitely streamlines things. The Casey Brothers, a young tag team for NYCW made up of brothers and sons of Butchers, look like credible athletes. Prime Time Jack Pryde and California Cool Charlie Corner came out in new, matching gear with big fur coats-- looking like a million bucks and looking like stars Both of them look great. They walked half way down the ring aisle and stopped, before pointing to the curtain and...

Lucinda Lush walked out -- also looking like a million bucks. She had her own matching fur vest on with matching boots and it is clear that all of them have the It Factor. (It was recently announced that Lush and RIPW had parted ways). The entrance was great. Very big-timey, like this duo could be going places! The Casey Brothers got a fair amount of offense in -- Vessey likes the two so they definitely didn’t get squashed here, but The Player’s Club showed really impressive chemistry and worked together to cheat and keep taking the advantage. Lush was great at ringside playing the seductress trying to distract Chuck. She was successful long enough for Tully to not get to make the tag -- which opened him up to a Corner Cutter from Charlie Corner and The Player’s Club got the big victory!

The Player’s Club defeated The Casey Brothers in 9:51 when Corner pinned Tully Casey after a Corner Cutter.

Conner Threepwood came to the ring where he was met by Steffi Chee. The now-retired Chee held a microphone in her hands.

Chee, “Conner, I’m pretty sure I know the answer -- but how are you feeling after what happened to you last month at God, America, and Pro Wrestling.”

Threepwood, “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still pissed off. I’d be lying if I said I was anything other than fuming at one happened. It’s been over a month Steffi, over a month, and all I’ve been able to do is think about what happened last month when Sayeed Ali made me bleed in this ring, in this building, in front of some of my family and friends and then declared war on the COTT.”

Chee, “Why do you think he chose you? Do you have some problems with Sayeed Ali we don’t know about?”

Threepwood, “Until he blindsided me last month, I’d never met the man. I had no issues with him until he made me a target. He can claim all he wants that it wasn’t personal and was just business, but when you attack a man after he’s defended a championship, when you attack a man in his hometown, it is damn sure personal.”

Chee, “Sayeed Ali doesn’t work for CWI or for the Confederation of the Territories. How are you going to get any measure of retribution?”

Threepwood, “That’s a great question, Steffi. For the last month, I’ve been going round and round with CWI management and with the COTT management. I’ve begged for them to offer Sayeed Ali a contract so he can come wrestle me. They said no. The COTT said they would not sanction Sayeed Ali to wrestle. CWI management said they would not offer a man who shows up uninvited and unannounced and launches an attack on a contracted wrestler, a contract. It would be bad for business. The problem is, right now, I don’t give a damn about business. I give a damn about what Sayeed Ali did to me. So I told the COTT, I told the CWI that they have one choice. One damn choice. They can either bring Sayeed Ali here to me or I’ll go to Pittsburgh and find him. I signed a Hold-Harmless Agreement. I told the COTT and the CWI that they don’t have to sanction a match. They don’t have to pay for him. I’ll do it myself. I’ll put up the money for the purse. I’ll back the match. It doesn’t have to be an official match that the COTT or the CWI is responsible for. They agreed to that. So next month, if Sayeed Ali has the balls to back up the trash his mouth has been talking, he’ll be here in Indianapolis. He’ll come here for a fight. I’ll be here. I damn sure hope he will be.

Ralph Liotta versus The Hangman

Ralph Liotta, who recently moved on from his MAW career -- stepped into the ring against the Hangman -- and it wasn’t pretty for Ralph. It was more like RIP Liotta. He got completely eaten alive. Hangman gave him no offense and the smaller man bumped all over for the slow, methodical Hangman. Every throat thrust resulted in a bump. Hangman threw him across the ring several times and finally, mercifully, hit him with a big Chokeslam to end the match.

The Hangman defeated Ralph Liotta in 2:21 by pinfall following a Chokeslam.

Reece & Wells versus The Femme Fatales

For the entirety of this year, these four women have been embroiled in a bitter feud. They have started building good chemistry with one another. Reece and Wells got to shine and show why they were the final AAA Tag Team Champions, but Frost and Neema continue to be nasty. Frost came out with a real viking ensemble while Neema had a very Pharoah-esque vibe -- they clearly had new gear made and are trying to play up their ancestry to make them more interesting to an audience that already appreciates that they are very bright prospects. Neema hit a big missile dropkick from the top rope that got the crowd’s attention. Reece and Wells look like they had the match won until Urena Frost pulled out a pair of brass knuckles from a knee pad and caught Reece flush in the temple while Neema had the referee distracted.

The Femme Fatales defeated Reece & Wells in 12:03 by pinfall with Frost pinned Ruby Reece after hitting her with a foreign object.

The Dog Soldiers enter the ring where Steffi Chee is waiting for them.

Chee, “Hello gentlemen. You requested some time this evening to address Genesis. What’s on your mind?”

Youngblood, “For the past several months, Ms. Chee, it has been made clear to us that for some reason, Andrew Gibson and his band of thugs have targeted us. Last month, when I was taken to the hospital to be checked for serious injury -- they took that opportunity to lay our Roger. This was after they cheated to steal a singles match from Roger several months ago. Genesis has been after us and we have decided that we can no longer let them blindside us. We can no longer tolerate their actions.”

Chee, “So what are you saying?”

Monteiro, “We are saying that we want them in a match. Three of them. We don’t care which three thugs Gibson wants to bring. It could be any of them. Bring them here next month and put them in the ring with us and let’s do this thing for real. No sneak attacks. No double teams. Hell, no triple or quadruple teams. Just six guys in the ring, settling it like men are supposed to do.”

Youngblood, “We’ve already signed the papers to make it happen, Steffi. We’ve already said we’re going to be here and we’re willing. CWI management has the contract, Andrew. Get your boys to sign it and let’s make it official.”

"Spicy" Pepper Pelton versus "Lone Star" Samson Sharpe w/ Mark Hyatt

Big Pepper Pelton was in the ring against the debuting Samson Sharpe. Sharpe was recently not renewed by SWF and RIPW chose not to keep him since SWF didn’t see any room for the big cowboy -- probably due to the over-abundance of cowboys they currently have. Mark Hyatt, the mama’s boy of CWI who continually screams at the referee that he’ll use his mother’s money to sue if he doesn’t enforce the rules better was excellent at ringside. This was an old school, hoss fight slug fest. Both men are green. It’s clear from the way CWI presents Pelton that they have high hopes for him, but that they also want him to have the opportunity to develop without being overpushed. It went back and forth for a long while before big Samson Sharpe finally hit a Full Nelson Bomb and got a win in his debut match.

Samson Sharpe w/ Mark Hyatt defeated Pepper Pelton in 11:28 by pinfall with a Full Nelson Bomb.

"The Oklahoma Thunderbolt" Jason Patterson versus Acid

The veteran Acid was back in action after losing to Conner Threepwood last month. It looks like the masked man will be sticking around. He was paired against young babyface Jason Patterson. Patterson was accompanied to the ring by Joy Ryder. Ryder has been a member of the women’s division and it looks like she’ll be pulling double-duty. Acid gave Patterson a lot of shine in the match. The young, old school grappler for Oklahoma hit several take downs and really worked him over before Acid raked the eyes and went to work. Acid ended up hitting his Acid Bomb to get the win.

Acid defeated Jason Patterson w/ Joy Ryder in 9:15 by pinfall after an Acid Bomb.

The CWI Women’s Champion comes to the ring where Steffi Chee is waiting for her. The leader of the War Maidens is alone, but she is all smiles. She speaks before Steffi gets the chance to.

Blake, “Fancy seeing you here. Retirement treating you well?”

Chee, “I’m here to do my job, Steph. The whole world knows I don’t like you and you don’t like me, but let’s keep it professional.”

Blake, “All I did was ask you a question, but fine. Professional it is. Let’s hear it.”

Chee, “Where are the rest of the War Maidens? They aren’t out here with you?”

Blake, “I gave Diamond the night off and you already saw the Femme Fatales tonight. Didn’t they look great? Didn’t they look like the future of women’s wrestling not just in CWI, but in the whole sport? The way they convincingly won against Reece and Wells.”

Chee, “After Urena Frost used what appeared to be brass knuckles.”

Blake, “That’s blatant slander. I thought you wanted to be professional but here you are attacking the integrity of two of the sports finest young prospects. I can’t believe you still have a damn job. Especially after you couldn’t stand up to me. No one in this division can stand up to me. No woman on the planet can stand up to…

Suddenly the sounds of “Bitch Better Have My Money” by Rihanna interrupts Steph Blake and her tirade. The Women’s Champion turns behind her. No one in the CWI uses that entrance music and no one else was scheduled to be out here during her time.

Yzo8g1U.jpg

Foxxy LaRue, The Baddest Bitch from Detroit, is standing in the entry way. Steph Blake’s eyes go wide and she moves behind Steffi Chee. LaRue walks to the ring with all the swagger of a star and a Detroit-native.

Blake, “What the hell are you doing here? Steffi, ask her what the hell she’s doing here. Do your job”

Chee, “Uh. Foxxy LaRue, what are you doing here in Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis?”

LaRue, “Well as of five o’clock this evening, I’m the newest member of the CWI full time roster, sugar and I’m here for that.”

She points at Steph Blake’s Women’s Championship. Blake backs up and holds a hand up. Chee turns towards her so she can still be heard.

Blake, “Well wait a damn minute. If this is your first night on the job, you don’t get a title shot. You have to turn it. That’s the way things are done in the CWI. We do things on merit here.”

LaRue, “I’m sure you do, but the CWI management wanted Foxxy LaRue real bad. They know what I can do. They know what I’ve been doing down in Texas for the past several years. They know that I’m a bad, bad woman. They know that I talk trash and whoop ass. They know that I speak loudly and I carry a big ass stick. I bark and I bite. I wrestle and I fight. I’m the baddest bitch from Detroit and I’m the baddest bitch you’ve ever seen standin’ across the ring from you, Steph. You’re the Women’s Champion here. You’re at the top of the pile, but I’m here to change that and CWI management knows that...So next month at Battle of the Crossroads, it’s going to be me and you, sugar. For that belt. Bring your A game, ‘cause you’re going to need it.”

Steph Blake looked livid at the news that is defending her championship next month against Foxxy LaRue.

Chee, “What do you think about that, Steph? A big match next month.”

Blake, “Oh piss off!”

Blake stormed from the ring and LaRue was all grins before exiting herself.’

Miller Fforde versus Zippy Deverell ©

Zippy Deverell was incredibly arrogant in his entrance. He had the Indiana Heavyweight Championship and as he walked to the ring he told every person he passed how good he is. How he beat Nate DeMarcus like it was nothing. He was the cock of the walk. His tune changed when Miller Fforde hit a baseball slide on the champ before the match even started! Fforde had just left MAW and the former standout wrestler for Mid Atlantic Wrestling controlled the early going. He has much more experience than Deverell and he led him through a good match that was mostly brawl-based, playing to Deverell’s strengths. They worked around the ring a bit and tested the referee’s patience, but he showed discretion to let them fight it out. Fforde hit a nice running somersault off the apron onto Deverell that really got the crowd’s attention. Back in the ring, Deverell ‘accidentally’ pushed the referee away and low blowed Miller Fforde well the ref was turned around. Deverell hit the Spinning Bulldog and made the first successful defence of his Indiana Championship.

Zippy Deverell defeated Miller Fforde to retain the Indiana Championship in 17:36 by pinfall following the Spinning Bulldog.

Nate DeMarcus & The Rock City Stars versus The Canadian Blonds

The crowd was very invested in the main event. There was star power and charisma galore in this match and all six men -- especially the Rock City Stars and Canadian Blonds, know how to work a crowd. DeMarcus is still learning as a singles competitor and he was given moments to shine athletically and as a powerhouse while the other five men took the crowd on a good ride. Senior Referee Jez McArthur had his hands full and the Blonds did a great job of using his positioning to get themselves advantages. The babyfaces had fire and kept fighting back and DeMarcus made a huge comeback where he was by himself and taking down all three opponents. He suplexed both Goldstein and Savage at the same time -- by himself -- before tagging back in Stan Manna. DeMarcus and Turner were fighting with Goldstein and Savage on the outside and were oblivious to LaGrenier rolling up Stan and getting his feet on the ropes. McArthur didn’t see the feet on the ropes and The Canadian Blonds stole one.

The Canadian Blonds defeated Nate DeMarcus & The Rock City Stars in 23:58 by pinfall when Philippe LaGrenier pinned Stan Manna with his feet on the ropes.

<p>And our second quarter prediction contest has officially ended with the running of this show! Before We get to that, let's go over the results for this month. We had twenty people predict on this show -- continuing our trend of having a lot of predictions! I love all of the interactions and feedback we're getting here. There are a lot of really good scores, but NO ONE got a perfect score on this one! The main event seemed to trip most people up -- with almost everyone having the babyface team going over the Canadian Blonds -- but those dastardly heels managed to steal the win! I think everyone had Zippy retaining, which is nice to see. The old Zipster will be a star! Mark my words!</p><p> </p><p>

Now for the results. Once again, I'm going to reward TWO prediction prizes this month because two people deserve it (well, technically all of you deserve it!)</p><p> </p><p>

The first winner is <strong>Hazemore</strong>, who missed one show but predicted great on the three shows that they predicted on. They had a score of 100% because of their bonus points, which is just incredible!</p><p> </p><p>

The second winner is <strong>tryker2710</strong> -- she predicted on every show and only missed two points for a 28/30 score and a 93% success rate. Both of them will receive their prizes in their PMs!</p>

Thank you for coming back to the Pro Wrestling Reporter for all of your wrestling news. The world of pro wrestling never sleeps, but sometimes I must so the update will contain all the little tidbits of news that won't make the newsletter.

FCW has agreed to accept developmental workers from EILL. This is a smart partnership. EILL can send youngsters to Puerto Rico where they can learn to work, develop, get better -- and for FCW, it will save them money. It will also not over-expose young lucha talent to EILL's core audience. FCW airs its shows on WrestleWorld, so they will get experience working in front of cameras.

TCW will not be resigning Benny Benson -- but will be signing Ernest Youngman to an exclusive deal. TCW is said to be gearing up for an expansion and Youngman could feature heavily in those plans. He also continues TCW's push for a youth movement. They've also signed away Sterling Whitlock from USPW.

SWF has signed Casey Valentine away from United States Pro Wrestling. They have also resigned Lenny Brown, Son of Vengeance, and Valliant. They have also added luchador Velocidad to their roster.

USPW will not be renewing the contracts of American Gold. They have hired a lot of big name talent over the past few months and while they have lost Sterling Whitlock and Casey Valentine recently, they also felt the need to shore up their budget by not picking up the contracts of the young men. I don't know where American Gold will go, but I am sure they will be in high demand on the independent scene.

Erik Strong has resigned with CWA who continues to be relatively quiet on the free-agent scene -- but they do have an awfully bloated roster.

21CW signed a new broadcasting deal with Canadian I-Broadcasting for their events.

Japan continues to rebuild as BCG, BHOTWG, and PGHW all compete for the top spot in the country.

IPW has also been reclassified as small -- rising from their previous classification of tiny.

That's all the news for now. Make sure to keep your browsers here on the Pro Wrestling Reporter and subscribe to our newsletter for in-depth coverage.

Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis returns to action with the Battle at the Crossroads Saturday Week 3 of September. It is an incredibly stacked show and tickets are now available.

Sayeed Ali accepted Conner Threepwood's challenge and has recently signed a hold-harmless agreement himself. So the main event, in a match that is unsanctioned by the Confederation of the Territories and Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis, Conner Threepwood will battle Sayeed Ali in a match that can only end by pinfall, submission, or referee Jez McArthur's decision.

Steph Blake will defend the CWI Women's Championship against Foxxy LaRue in what is sure to be a show-stealing contest. The Dog Soldiers will be battling three members of Genesis and so much more! Get your tickets today

Author's Note: The card for predictions comes before the show this month, because the planned narrative for this show takes place right before showtime, so I'll collect predictions, post the narrative and then immediately post the show after that! This also starts the third prediction contest. I incorrectly have been calling them quarters -- when in reality there are three a year not four.

Unsanctioned Match

"The East Side Assassin" Sayeed Ali versus "The Indiana Strangler" Conner Threepwood

As it's unsanctioned I think we could see some possible interference, which would make it more likely for an Ali win but I'm going to stick with a Threepwod retention.

I do like the Dog Soldiers, they've got the perfect trio build but Genesis can pick three monsters, I like Chip but he's the only member of the team I see taking a pinfall so if he's not in the match I don't think they lose.

Keep on building up Samson. If he doesn't end up on the losing end of a hair vs. hair match with that name I'm disappointed :p

Close, but no cigar. Too soon, Foxxy

Again, keeping the feud going, probably with a shady win. Small chance the Dog Soldiers get a DQ/Countout win instead, but I'm taking my chances

Felicia Luck versus Kate Lilly

Not sure about Lilly & Rose as singles competitors, but pretty sure Felicia isn't getting a win over either just yet

Interesting matchup. Could see Acid having a run with the belt, but he's probably here to put youngsters over
