Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis was back in Bloomington for the second installment of the Ladies Night series. The show was really well received as the ladies continue to establish themselves. Grace Harper was there ringside with Marvin Earnest -- and it looks like she will be the color commentator for the Ladies Night DVDs which will be coming out each month. This show also saw the debut of Kessie Lee Walker as the first female referee in CWI history.

The show opened with Tzilla, the Pride of the Apache, coming to the ring to cut a promo about how she's looking forward to bringing her brand of professional wrestling to Indianapolis. She's proud of her heritage and she wants to bring Pride to the Apaches and her Community.

Ashley Keith made Allie Perks tap out to the Proton Lock in the first match of the night.

"Dangerous Woman" Piper Hale defeated Joy Ryder in a very good match where Hale got to show just how physical and violent she can be.

"American Bombshell" Mellow Flashhart came to the ring and was about to talk when Sophie Steele - The Bride that Never Was -- came to the ring and started yelling at the men for giving Mellow attention she didn't deserve.

That promo led to a match between the two women, where Mellow Flashhart got the victory.

The main event saw The War Maidens team of Urena Frost and Black Diamond get a win over The Bootcamp, the new team of Felicia Luck and Lucy Trigg.

Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis started August off with a trip to Edinburgh, Indiana.

The show started with Wild Red Stallion defeating John Greed in a surprise match up -- as this was John Greed's last match before he retired from Pro Wrestling and CWI couldn't get him to wait until Railroad City Rumble.

Xavi Ferrera defeated Luis Torres in a very competitive match up.

Rafe Sashay and Phil Anders came out to the ring to cut a promo about their plans for The Dog Soldiers.

Pepper Pelton got a much needed win with the Spice Rack over Lance Whitworth.

The Canadian Blonds defeated Raul Rogers and Bradley Goodridge.

The main event saw Zippy Deverell get his seventh defence of the Indiana Heavyweight Championship when he beat the debuting Dan Stone III.

uoEa8xj.png

The third installment of the Ladies Night series happened the second week of August. Bloomington really enjoyed the show.

The show opened with Stella Saint defeating Aubree Bailey by submission with her The Saint-Trap Facelock. Both women are graduates of the House of Stone and this was a very technical affair.

Ashley Keith came to the ring to hype the main event, where she will be taking on Yvonne Ericks.

The Bootcamp got a win over the team of Frances Harris and Annette Kerr.

Black Diamond came to the ring and cut a promo about her plans to become the top star in the CWI women's division.

Reece & Wells got a win over the Daughters of Lucha Libre.

The main event saw Ashley Keith make Yvonne Ericks tap out with the Proton Lock.

Frankie Carmello versus The Ice Queen

The Canadian grappler known as The Ice Queen was making her CWI debut here against relative newcomer Frankie Carmello. Frankie made her debut in the battle royal in May and has been impressive in her outings. The Columbian-born grappler was a spark plug of energy and made for an interesting first opponent for The Ice Queen. The technically-minded Ice Queen spent the majority of the match trying to get a grip on Carmello -- who kept finding ways to slip from the Ice Queen’s hands. The action was solid, but the crowd wasn’t particularly into this match -- they weren’t familiar with the Ice Queen at all so her heat spots didn’t really got a lot of heat. Carmello hit an Around-the-World Headscissors and then the Triple Jump Moonsault to put away The Ice Queen and get the victory.

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Frankie Carmello defeated The Ice Queen in 6:32 by pinfall with a Triple Jump Moonsault.

Women’s wrestling legend Grace Harper came walking to the CWI ring. She was holding a black bag. She climbed into the ring and was handed a microphone from Taylor Gordy.

Harper, “Hello ladies and gentlemen. For those of you that don’t know -- but should know -- I’m Grace Harper. I’m the best women’s wrestler of the past three decades and now I work for Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis. You can hear my voice each month on the Ladies Night DVDs or Video on Demand streams at CWIWrestling.com. I’m not here tonight to promote myself, though. I’m here tonight with a blockbuster announcement. Starting next month at Battle at the Crossroads, Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis will begin an eight team tournament that will culminate at Christmas Clash. The team that manages to win, will be crowned the first ever CWI Women’s Tag Team Champions and will get to hold these.”

She sets the microphone down as she reaches into the bag to pull out two championship belts.

KkRGkt8.jpg

Harper, “That’s right. Whichever team of the eight can prove to be the best will get these and will get the honor of calling themselves the first ever CWI Women’s Tag Team Champions. It all starts next month, right here in the Fountain Square Theatre.”

Grace Harper set the microphone down and made her exit, carrying the brand new CWI Women’s Tag Team belts with her.

Hank Gunn & Pepper Pelton versus The Taggs w/ Haley Buck

The second bout of the night bit the Taggs against two guys who were looking to build some consistent positive momentum. Hank Gunn has had an up and down career in CWI since joining in June of 2021. He has had some big wins -- including one over One Man Army that got him an opportunity at Zippy Deverell, but he hasn’t been able to string a bunch of wins together. Pepper Pelton had a good run as Indiana Heavyweight Champion and his Spice Rack remained one of the most feared submission holds in independent pro wrestling, but he had been in a bit of a slump in 2022. The Taggs had a lot of wins, but they hadn’t been able to cross the threshold to the next level. The crowd was very much in Pepper Pelton and Hank Gunn’s corner throughout the match. Pelton and Gunn surprised a lot of people early on in the match with their synergy as a team. Gunn, the technical-flyer of the team and Pelton the big powerful brawler with a lot of explosiveness behind his offense. After a few minutes of Gunn and Pelton controlling things, the Taggs were able to seize control with a little help from Haley Buck and the two big brothers who grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana isolated Hank Gunn. The smaller man took a beating from the Brothers Tagg. They slammed him. They dropped elbows on him. They tossed him into the corner and peppered his body with hard shots. They distracted the referee so the other could choke him. They were classic big bully heels. At one point, Wolfie was arguing with the referee and Pepper Pelton while Kalder was choking Hank Gunn with the three feet of tag rope! Hank Gunn was never able to make the hot tag, instead he got a Spike Piledriver and got pinned while Pepper was never really able to get started.

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, The Taggs defeated Hank Gunn and Pepper Pelton in 12:18 when Kalder Tagg pinned Hank Gunn with a Spike Piledriver.

Rockin' Ryan Turner versus "The Hillbilly Outlaw" Zippy Deverell ©

Rockin’ Ryan Turner was back in CWI, at least for the night, challenging Zippy Deverell for the Indiana Heavyweight Championship. Turner’s music career had exploded recently and he hadn’t been as active on the wrestling scene, but he was still in great shape and he came right out of the gate with a couple of quick rollups, trying to steal one. Deverell kicked out of each roll up and look frustrated as Turner continued to keep him reeling. Deverell clearly wasn’t prepared for the fight that Turner was bringing to him and the Hillbilly Outlaw took a powder out of the ring and walked up the ramp to catch his breath. He finally came back in the ring and he threw a kick right into the midsection of Turner and he took over for a few minutes before Turner started a big comeback and the whole crowd was rocking with him. Turner looked like he had Deverell set up for the Six String Shooter, when Zippy reached into his pants and pulled out what looked to be the Coal Miner’s Glove that he has been using recently. He kept the hand tucked and his back to the referee. When Turner came in, Zippy blasted him with the glove before the referee had a chance to see it -- and then quickly tucked the glove back into his pants while making the cover and getting his seventh defence of the Indiana Heavyweight Championship.

In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Zippy Deverell defeated Rockin' Ryan Turner in 10:11 by pinfall after using a foreign object. Zippy Deverell makes defence number eight of the CWI Indiana title.

Zippy Deverell snatched the Indiana Heavyweight Championship out of the referee’s hands and he held it to his chest like a man holding his lover. He held it high above his head for the crowd to see and the crowd surprisingly began to cheer, but not because of Zippy, but because…

yfcP8WA.jpg

Mr. Grappling, wearing a brand new mask, came running to the ring with a steel chair. Deverell turned around and took the chair to the head (he did get a hand up to protect himself). Deverell dropped from the chair shot and blood started to flow from his head. Grappling swung the chair at him again -- but security had hit the ring and they slid between the two men, keeping Grappling from doing any more damage.

"The New York Bad Ass" Toni Parissi versus Lucy Stone-McFly ©

Last month, Lucy Stone-McFly was able to capture the CWI Women’s Championship in a thrilling match with Urena Frost and this month she had her hands full with one of the most accomplished women in North America. Parissi currently holds the QAW Tag Team Titles with her partner Juana Hurricane. She holds the CWWF Tag Team Titles with Simony Sentinel, and she is the CWWF Champion. Stone-McFly had just recently lost the UCW Women’s Championship but had replaced it with the CWI Women’s Championship -- making her one of the hottest rising stars in women’s wrestling. Parisi really knows how to work and she definitely tried to keep to her style of match in this. Parissi was a brawler and she knew better than to let this be a grappling match that would favor Lucy Stone-McFly. Parissi’s experience seemed to be the edge for most of the match, as she was able to control the pace and keep it to her style. A few times, Lucy was able to get a hold of her and snap off a quick suplex or try to lock in a submission hold -- but Parissi was always able to get out of dodge quickly before any real damage was done. Parissi climbed to the second rope and came off looking for a shotgun-style dropkick, but Stone-McFly caught her legs and let her slam into the mat and then locked in a Sharpshooter that really worked over Parissi’s back. While Parissi was able to get to the ropes and break the hold, Stone-McFly had the match in her favor. She hit a beautiful Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker to continue the focus on the lower back. She hit a set of three Rolling Vertical Suplexes that really added the pain to the back and then she hit that spinning Northern Lights Bomb that her father made famous, the Delorean Driver and got the clean three count in the middle of the ring to make her first successful title defence.

In an exceptional match, Lucy Stone-McFly defeated Toni Parissi in 21:09 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver. Lucy Stone-McFly makes defence number one of the CWI Women's title.

Lucy Stone-McFly was celebrating her win in the ring. She had just gotten her first title defence in Indianapolis and that was a big moment for the young woman who grew up watching her entire family be champions. The crowd let out a stunned hush as someone hopped the ringside barricade.

x3d9mee.jpg

It wasn’t just a someone. It was a 6’7” monster of a woman that most of the people in the audience knew from her starring role as a four-year starter for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball Team and her two year stint in the Women’s National Basketball Association, she quit playing professional basketball after an injury and she turned her focus to wrestling. Just looking at her was terrifying. She stepped up onto the ring apron and over the top rope -- something that women don’t normally do. Stone-McFly turned around and saw the woman who towered over her -- Sky was well over a foot taller than the comparatively diminutive champion. Before Lucy could even react, Sky wrapped her hand around Lucy’s throat and lifted her up into the air with one hand and drove her down into the canvas with her Sky High Chokeslam. Security hit the ring right as Sky started to exit it. Sky grabbed several security personnel and each of them got Sky High Chokeslams. Tameka Sky turned back to look at Lucy and just laughed a maniacal laugh.

The Dog Soldiers versus Funky Fedora, Rafe Sashay, & Phil Anders

These two teams met for the first time in a standard six man tag here. The World Six-Man Titles were not on the line in this contest, as it was viewed as a way for the Dog Soldiers to earn another opportunity at the belts they had held for several months and defended successfully on four separate occasions. It was a solid affair that was really helped by the excellence of Funky Fedora, who has really been coming into his own as a wrestler in the past year. Both teams worked well together as teams and both teams made frequent tags in and out. There wasn’t a prolonged heat spot. There wasn’t anything drastic, it was more of an open six man tag where each person got an opportunity to shine. Wild Red Stallion was able to hit Phil Anders with a Lakota Cutter to get the victory for his team.

In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Dog Soldiers (Ace Youngblood, Roger Monteiro and Wild Red Stallion) defeated Funky Fedora, Rafe Sashay and Phil Anders in 13:39 when Wild Red Stallion pinned Phil Anders with a Lakota Cutter.

In terms of in-ring work, Funky Fedora was head and shoulders above everyone else.

Former CWI Tag Team Champions, Bred for Battle, were led to the ring by their manager Andrew Gibson. They got in the ring. Taylor Gordy handed in the microphone to Gibson.

Gibson, “For a year, Bred for Battle dominated the CWI Tag Team Division. Hell, for over a year. For the entire 2021 calendar year and the first half of 2022 they were unquestionably unstoppable. They had an off night back in May, but that doesn’t change that they are the most accomplished team here in CWI. The most dominant. The most impressive. I’ve spent the last two months on the phone with CWI officials and the COTT Board of Directors and the COTT Championship committee. I have informed all of them that my guys will not wrestle again until it is for the World Tag Team Championships. You will see Bred for Battle back in action when the World Titles are on the line and not a moment sooner.”

Gibson dropped the microphone and led his team back to the back.

Marco Gonzalez versus Nate "the Great" DeMarcus ©

The 21 year old Marco Gonzalez had the biggest match of his three year career against Nate DeMarcus. Gonzalez was very impressive in his time in Puerto Rico before FCW closed. He was in great shape and had a great look and he made a very good opponent for Nate DeMarcus. The crowd was really into this match and the wrestling was very solid. DeMarcus has been blossoming as a singles competitor in CWI and Gonzalez had been steadily improving down in Puerto Rico. The two went at it, with Gonzalez brought the fight to Nate DeMarcus. DeMarcus stumbled and sold on the move and Gonzalez stayed on him for several minutes. Gonzalez even hit the DDT -- a move he has used to put many men away in his career, but he only got a two count (albeit a very close two count). Gonzalez went for a second DDT, but Nate countered it with a Northern Lights Suplex that got a near fall and created the opportunity for Nate DeMarcus being able to go on offense. Nate’s offense was all power and impressive -- including another big Gorilla Press Slam that he followed up with a Snap Tackle that got the win for him and the third successful title defence.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Nate DeMarcus defeated Marco Gonzalez in 15:51 by pinfall with a Snap Tackle. Nate DeMarcus makes defence number three of the COTT Mid American title.

The Texas Express versus American Gold ©

The main event pit The Texas Express against American Gold. Since The Express came to CWI at the end of 2021, these two teams have been on a collision course and tonight, in the main event in front of 95 fans in the Fountain Square Theatre, they went to war. It was a slow burn of a match. Both teams were babyfaces which made for a very interesting contest. They went back and forth throughout the match, evenly matched. Each team was equal to the other. The crowd was on the edge of their seat throughout the match. Since they liked both teams, they were clamoring for good clean action. Cooper Christie flew off the top rope for a big clothesline and Maleik Chamberlain hit a perfect moonsault. Turk hit a running cannonball into the corner and Marcus English hit a springboard senton. The match passed the half hour mark and both teams were dripping with sweat and had been to war. Maleik Chamberlain lifted Turk Trenneman up into the air and brought him down into the mat with a huge Gourdbuster but Maliek rolled onto his back and flying through the sky was Cooper Christie -- who drove his elbow into Maliek’s chest and as Cooper stood up, Marcus English was there -- jumping off the middle rope to grab Cooper’s head and spin him around for a big Tornado DDT. In all of this chaos, Turk and Maliek -- the two legal men, were laying flat on the mat. Maleik’s arm was draped over Turk’s chest, but Turk’s arm was also over Maliek’s chest -- both men with their shoulders down and referee Jez McArthur counted to three -- and ruled it a draw due to a double pinfall!

In an exceptional match, The Texas Express drew with American Gold in 34:43 following a double pinfall.

At Railroad City Rumble III, Grace Harper announced the upcoming tournament to crown the first-ever CWI Women's Tag Team Champions. We here at CWIWrestling.com have gotten a copy of the tournament bracket and before we reveal it we wanted to spotlight each team that will be in the tournament.

p4OOB6s.jpgA1qVEOl.jpgbU1IQXb.jpg

The War Maidens

The War Maidens petitioned, and were granted, the ability to enter all three of them into the tournament. They will be able to chose who will wrestle in which tournament match. They are slotted currently as the number one seed in the tournament. With Urena Frost a former CWI Women's Champion, Frost and Nemma as former COTT World Women's Tag Team Champions, and Black Diamond one of the hottest prospects in wrestling these three women could very well become the first CWI Women's Tag Team Champions.

NWKmvgS.jpgHQ5UCnA.jpg

The San Diego Girls

The San Diego Girls led the charge for Women's Tag Team Titles to come to CWI and they were given the number two seed. While they have yet to hold tag team gold as a duo, they have been incredibly impressive everywhere they have gone and could very well go the distance.

o9mNgM8.jpgOjzVkqL.jpg

The Bootcamp

A relatively new duo, Felicia Luck and Lucy Trigg are both graduates of famous Mid Atlantic Bootcamp. Felicia Luck has been one of the top stars of the women's division in CWI and is a former CWI Women's Champion while Lucy Trigg is a newcomer. Can this duo who learned to wrestle together become the first CWI Women's Tag Team Champions?

8LaXSP6.jpgyzZP4rn.jpg

Reece & Wells

Coming in at the four seed are former AAA Tag Team Champions, Ruby Reece and Sabrina Wells. Many people were surprised they are not slotted higher with their championship pedigree, but over the last year they have been in a bit of a professional slump. This could be the opportunity they need to break out of their slump and get back to their championship ways.

GRlIhg8.jpgcBBNE0H.jpg

The Daughters of Lucha Libre

The fifth seed is a new team to CWI -- both women joined CWI in May and made their debuts at Circle City Classic III, but they are no strangers to lucha libre and pro wrestling. Both grew up in the wrestling business. They have it in their blood and they could very well be the team that wins it all.

wrk2jPq.jpgbNQW0ge.jpg

The Hooligans

Twins Hannah and Helena Hooligan have a major opportunity in this tournament. No one is closer than twins and the Hooligans are looking to make themselves famous and secure their first professional championship. Can the soccer-loving twins establish themselves as a dominant force in the tag team division in this tournament?

k0DbZXn.jpgRSnbFHa.jpg

Sophie Stelle & Piper Hale

On paper, this is a bizarre duo. Sophie Steele, the scorned Bride looking for revenge on the man that left her at the altar and by proxy, all men and Piper Hale, the Dangerous Woman, the former military police who would just as soon cut you open as put a wrist lock on you. They make their debut as a team in this tournament and while they may be an odd-couple, that could make them very difficult to prepare for and help them go far in the tournament.

94RHDYb.jpggeLdm4k.jpg

Mellow Flashhart and Stella Saint

Another first time tag team rounds out the field of eight. Flasshhart has been very impressive working the local shows, getting quite a few wins under her belt and Stella Saint, a product of the House of Stone Dojo made a name for herself on the Canadian Independent scene before being brought to CWI. Like Steele and Hale there isn't any footage of these two teaming together so that could make them the darkhorses to win the entire thing.

And with out further adieu, the bracket for the Women's Tag Team Title tournament -- which begins at Battle at the Crossroads and will culminate in December at Christmas Clash 2022.

I sat behind my desk and reviewed the numbers. When we started 2022, I had goals of turning a profit each month and drawing over 100 fans. We hadn’t done either yet. There were months where we broke even -- but we weren’t consistently profitable yet, but we were getting closer. The wrestling business and the economy finally looked like they were trending up and that would mean good things for us. My local investors were patient. They were wealthy men who had invested a good chunk of change to make sure we had enough money in the coffers to get through the lean times but I did not want them to lose faith in me. I didn’t want to find myself on the outside looking in or trying to find work somewhere else, so we had to make this work. If we couldn’t break a hundred fans by the end of the year, though, I would have to seriously evaluate if I was the right guy for the job. Maybe I had stretched myself too thin with booking and promoting and announcing. I had tried to bring in some staff members to help alleviate some of the stresses of of me, but I was still the final say in everything. If we didn’t see some increase in numbers, I might not be the final say in everything any more.

“You have a second, Marv?”

q32tOPo.jpg

I looked up and Yvonne Ericks was standing in the little doorway to my office. I motioned for her to come in and I slid the glasses off my face and set them down on the stack of papers. I blinked several times as she came in and sat down in one of the two chairs across from my desk.

“When do I get my push?”

I rubbed the bridge of my nose. “Yvonne…” I started.

“Don’t Yvonne me.” She said sternly. “I mean it. I’ve been here for almost two years. The crowd likes me. I show up even if I’m hurt. I’ve never been late. Never shown up in a condition not to perform. Never shown up even close to out of shape. I’m not even in the Women’s Tag Title Tournament. You just brought in all these new girls and they’re getting elevated before me. Lucy is the damn champ. She’s going to programmed with Tameka. I’m all for that. I really am. But I want to know. Do you have something planned for me? Or am I just another woman on the roster?”

I had always taken Yvonne to be professional. She was a fitness fanatic and she had a high pain threshold. Her high-level kickboxing career meant she could handle herself. She had a good look -- and I didn’t mean that like a pervert or anything. She had sex appeal and had some good star quality and was developing into a quality wrestler. I hadn’t really thought about giving her a sustained push at this point. She was only twenty-one and still developing. I couldn’t say that out loud though. Not after I just put the belt on still-a-rookie Lucy Stone-McFly.

“Well.” I started. I had to figure out how to best say this. “I don’t have any big creative plans for you right now.” I said honestly, but holding up a hand. “However, I have plans in 2023 to introduce a secondary women’s title. Something to have defended on the Ladies Night shows and I see you as being an active part of that title.”

That was really the first I had heard of my own idea. Or at least that particular branch of it. I saw introducing a secondary women’s title as a natural by-product of trying to have a competitive women’s division. I also wanted to have a championship on Ladies Night that could be regularly defended to help build-up the middle of the pack. I hadn’t figured Yvonne into that mix until I said it, but once I said it, it made absolute sense.

“I want to show people what I can do.” She said and I knew she meant it. She was a proud woman. Most wrestlers were proud and most had egos and most cared about cash and creative.

“I know and you’ll get that chance. You just have to be patient and have a little faith.”

Faith was not something that came easy to wrestlers. This was an inherently faithless business -- and not from a religious sense. We were born out of carnivals. We were born out of hoodwinking people and trying to convince them that these weren’t fixed, simulated combat displays but rather legitimate athletic contests. With that came a distrust from the people in the business.

“You better start coming up with something, Marv. I’m already working up in Canada for McFly. I’ve got my stuff with The Humane Society. I need to know that I’m going to be used and used better. I don’t want to keep showing up to be a glorified enhancement talent.” She looked me dead in the eyes. I had to respect that.

“Okay,” I said with a nod while picking up my glasses. I held my glasses in my hand. “I’ll see what I can do. I promise you’re figured into plans.” I told her. I didn’t want her to walk so I was going to have to make good on my word.

“Thank you. I’ll see you later.” She said as she turned on her heel. As she started to walk away, another member of my women’s roster approached the door. “He’s free, Joy.” Yvonne said as she walked away, leaving Joy Ryder standing at my door.

SupILDm.jpg

“Let me guess.” I started off. “You’re not happy with how you’re being used.”

“No.” She replied. “My bookings suck. I’ve been here since day one. The first show. And you book me like crap. I’ve been in five matches this year and I’ve lost four of them. And the one I won wasn’t even me winning. It was the big ten woman tag match in May. Meanwhile, I’m working for QAW and they’re using me all the time. I manage there and I wrestle there.”

I nodded my head. I was only half listening. What happened to the days when people were just happy to be on the damn show. “I get that.”

“No you don’t.” She replied. “Why can’t I be on more shows? Why can’t I manage someone and wrestle like I do in QAW?”

“Because you’re a babyface.”

“So?”

“Why would I put a babyface manager with a babyface? What purpose would it serve?”

“It would dress them up a bit. Give them something extra for their presentation.” She replied. “You could put me with Nate. We have the chemistry anyway. We’ve been together for two years. We could put that on the shows.” She said and I had to resist the urge to scream. What was with young people in wrestling who wanted to put their relationships front and center? They always thought because they were in a romantic relationship with someone that it should be a centerpiece for their character.

“That’s a bad idea and I can’t do that.” I told her and she wasn’t happy, but it was true. What if she and Nate broke up? What if one of them got a job somewhere else that meant they had to leave the company. What if they had terrible chemistry as an act?

“It’s not a bad idea at all. You’re just a f*****g dinosaur who doesn’t want to change with the times.” She fired back.

“That may be, but I’m the one with the pencil and the eraser and I don’t want to put a manager with a babyface -- especially not my LEAD babyface. He doesn’t need any sizzle right now. I’m trying to make sure he delivers the steak time in and time out. He’s got to get sympathy. He’s got to be f*cked. He’s got to be put in jeopardy and that’s not aided by putting someone with him.”

“So turn me heel. Or, you know. Push me. I’ve been here since day one. I’ve earned it.”

I hated that attitude. The reward-me-for-being-here attitude. This wasn’t wrestling camp. It wasn’t important to me that everyone got to play. This was a meritocracy. You go out and you earn it.

“Or, is it because I’m not a Bootcamp kid or been on national TV? Is that why I don’t get a push?”

I didn’t respond to her. Not right away. I wasn’t used to anyone talking to me that way.

“It’s not that.”

“Then what is it? Is it because I don’t have family in the business? Is it because I’m sleeping with Nate? Is it because you just don’t like me? Why won’t you give me a push?”

“Because!” I exclaimed. “I just don’t think you’re very good. I don’t see you as a pushable member of the roster. You’re just an enhancement talent.”

“So there it is.” She said throwing her hands up. “We’ve finally gotten to the root of it. You don’t believe in me.”

“Not as a top star. You’re good to have on the roster, but no. You’ve never going to be a featured gal here.”

“Nate’s not going to be happy with you.” She replied and I shrugged.

“He already knows.” I said.

“Don’t f*****g lie to me.” She said and I shrugged again.

“I’m not.”

“F**k you.”

I said nothing and she slammed her hand into the door frame.

“I quit, Marv. I’m done.” She said. The emotion in her voice was clear.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I told her, standing up. While I didn’t think she was ever going to be a top star for me, she WAS good to have to on the roster and not just because it would keep Nate happy. She was well liked backstage. She’d been here since the first show.

“I don’t give a good God damn what you think.” She spit out at me. “I’m done. I’m gone.”

“I’d like you to rethink this decision.”

“I’d like you to go f**k yourself.”

And that was that and I had one fewer woman on the roster. That was unexpected.

There’s been a lot going on in CWI over the last two days. It’s been a treat to catch up on all the shows.God, America, Pro-Wrestling was an awesome show, had sooo many things I liked.

Zippy Deveralls promo is probably the best promo from CWI’s history. His explanation for why he acts like a heel makes total sense. Having resentment for a society that is torturing his father and being the sole care taker of his family he needs to do what he needs to do to make it to the top. It’s sensible but always devious, one of the best reasoning’s for a heel to heel. Plus his lack of care of Grappling is gonna make for a great feud between the two. It has the potential to be the best feud CWI has seen in my opinion. Deveralls showed a clear selfishness that he only cares that he is at the top and doesn’t care what he has to do to make sure he stays there. Grappling’s comeback was well done, his anger showed without a word. Plus I can’t wait to hear Deveralls reaction to being bloodied up after his first promo.

I liked San Diego Girls vs. War Maidens I wanted to point one thing out, “Quick was able to Leap Frog over Diamond and make the diving tag to Coco Malloy who came in and cleaned house.” Now that’s how you do a hot tag.

Lucy Stone-McFly finally getting the gold from Frost was written really well. I forgot Honey Badger had just cost LSF the title months ago, so the fact she got the win because of no interference is a sensible decision. Plus, the fact they got one of the best matches makes the claim they should get a Main Event at one of these shows. They’re outdoing DeMarcus :3.

Here comes the tag team gold baby, who are the COTT Women Tag Champs by the way? I see The War Maidens getting the tag gold, they got the experience in the company and as champs, especially since Frost lost the singles gold. But the Sand Diego Girls also have a good shot at the gold. I think those two in the finals is the ideal way to go though upsets happen, I’m ready for this ride. (PS the title looks gorgeous)

Lucy vs Tameka is a cool way forward, two new stars to the CWI scene. Even though Lucy’s been around for awhile it’s like Yvonne said she’s newer. One thing I gotta point out and this isn’t on you, but I feel like half the people in the C-Verse over a certain height do the darn Chokeslam as a finisher, where the Powerbombs at :p.

Wild Red Stallion has been feeling more and more like the star of the Dog Soldiers recently. He got his eyes on the National star Funky Fedora who could really bring him to the next level. If this works out Red could be a the new singles star of the Soldiers.

American Gold & Texas Express have been on a collision course since The Express arrived. Both are taking up the same babyface lane and somethings gotta give. I see a heel turn coming sooner rather than later and think it could lead to one of the top tag feuds in CWI history. After two years CWI is really coming into it’s own and I’m glad I’ve been reading since day one!!

There’s been a lot going on in CWI over the last two days. It’s been a treat to catch up on all the shows.God, America, Pro-Wrestling was an awesome show, had sooo many things I liked.

I appreciate the comments and the detailed feedback you gave. I'm going to respond to each piece.

Deverell's promo on the God, America, and Pro Wrestling show has been our highest rated segment of any kind, by far, in our history. The rating of it really blew me away, to be honest, I wasn't expecting a 70 or anything even close to that so when he delivered that I felt compelled to really try to write something memorable for him. It's a tricky line to walk for him -- because I wanted to make sure he had real reasons to be a heel, but reasons that almost make you want to root for him. I think he and Mr. Grappling are foundational pieces for the company and our future so I want to position both of them strongly.

I liked San Diego Girls vs. War Maidens I wanted to point one thing out, “Quick was able to Leap Frog over Diamond and make the diving tag to Coco Malloy who came in and cleaned house.” Now that’s how you do a hot tag.

Thank you. One thing that really bums me out about most modern wrestling is that the hot tag is really a lukewarm tag. I really like when a babyface has to really work to get the hot tag and I really like both teams here so I wanted to try to really to capture The San Diego Girls as real babyfaces and I'm glad it came across!

Thank you! I do agree that the women should main event more -- which is why they're main eventing the September show -- and have three matches on it. I feel I'm building a really strong women's division so I really want to showcase that.

The COTT Women's Tag Champs right now are Katherine Goodlooks and Christy Higgins.

Now that you've mentioned it -- a lot of people in the CVerse do use the chokeslam, so maybe I'll mix that up for someone!

Wild Red Stallion has been feeling more and more like the star of the Dog Soldiers recently. He got his eyes on the National star Funky Fedora who could really bring him to the next level. If this works out Red could be a the new singles star of the Soldiers.

I'm very high on Stallion. He's got good size, good SQ and charisma and is developing nicely. He is also significantly younger than the other two members so he has a very bright upside!

I'm glad you've been reading since day one too! We're over two and a half years into the world right now and it's been really fun watching the world develop on my end. In The Climb, I had a training school right from the beginning and I was able to get a lot of talents through that that became a focal point. It's been interesting to not have that option right now -- and to be actively try to avoid talents I pushed hard in The Climb. It's been helped by the talents that are new to the CVerse. I have a lot of ideas for the diary so I hope to continue it for a long, long time.

So I'm catching up with the last few shows and your womens division is absolutely loaded. Love the Tameka Sky debut and I'm happy to see so many characters from the mod in here. Its also great to see Ashley Keith in here. Shes kind of a cheat code at this point in her career but that was done purposely. I selfishly hope she ends up getting the Ric Flair treatment and becomes perma-champ.

I'm a big fan of Tameka Sky. I see $$$ in her! And Ashley Keith is heavily featured into my plans. I love the Keith Family in general and once you told me she was going to be in the game, I knew that whether or not she was any good was beside the point, she's going to be featured. So stay tuned!

I had to bring in a lot of the women from the mod. I wanted to showcase them to drive traffic to the mod, plus there are so many great characters in there! I'm just waiting for that Kessie render so she can have a picture and not me the empty faced render!
