TCW Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I finished my first month.

Malice in Wonderland went off well. I put Wolf and Aaron's chemistry at Great against each other since the game basically says that is the money feud. Their match got an 87, 30 minute draw.

Tana & Mighty Mo beat the Behemoths for the titles and that story is now over. Tana is soo very disappointing. I had Mo cost them a match on the TV right before the PPV, then had Tana start turning even during the big win (Mo got the fall). Give them a few title wins then Tana will "accidentally" cost them the belts and attack Mo post-match. After that feud it is time to say good-bye to Tana's popularity on the way out. Mo is already a little bit of momentum from Major Star.

The stable the Behemoths are in is going bye-bye, starting with Nick on the next TV. Poor guy is gonna get drummed out by the 2 big men. Then Killer Shark is going to massacre Titan after a few losses. No feud, just going off to jobberville. Mr. Peak may just have a feud to put over a rising babyface though.

I brought in Ernest Youngman and he is running the Assassin gimmick. He and a heel Frankie Perez (Buzzsaw gimmick) have been lending their services to various heels on their way out of Unimportant. I figure the logical end to that is they dispose of the disappointing Elite tag team to replace them as Wolf's backup. I am also branding Davis Wayne Newton (danke schoen) and Nelson Callum the New Elite to be the stable's tag team down the road.

Speaking of the Elite, their storyline is done after a thorough domination of Devine Chance. Both teams are destined for jobbervile or the indies.

Gauge put Benny Benson out of his misery and is moving on. He will defend the belt against One Man Army and one of my developing heels is going to come out and make sure that goes well. From there it is basically the same as the Benson feud in the end. Except with 4 developing guys siphoning heat off.

Edd Stone has been doing well and I put him in a storyline against Doc. Once Doc also shames the Syndicate he will be out too. Will probably attach somebody to this as well.

Strangely, the only person outside of the main event to post good performances on a regular basis is Troy Tornado. Won't stop me from jobbing him out, but it is wierd.

I've got youngman and Callum as well, skipped developmental for both and they are currently in a stable with Greg Gauge and Frederique. The idea being that when Matthew Keith eventually comes up and if I can get him then he will take Frederique's place. Youngman is doing much better than Callum in terms of heating up, Callum's barely budged popularity wise and is the only one in the stable who needs a script for promos (despite having decent mic skills), which makes 4 man promos a non starter. Starting to think a couple of months of TV time in my developmental league for him might not be a bad idea as Logan Wolfsbane is nearing 60 pop as champ down there.

Someone i was talking to gave me this idea for a new name for Killer Shark. I immediately realized the name split up(Sharknado) was Shark and Nado. Tornado. Which got me to thinking of a Troy Tornado and Killer Shark tag team.

Im not gonna use it but any of you who dont split Killer Shark off on his own and feel like Sinner Society sucks than take this name.

I know Killer Shark was the thing in 2016, but in 2020 Titan is easily the better worker. I feel like the love for Shark is a remnant of the previous edition and Titan isnt really getting his due justice. Titan is as good as Edd Stone / Foxx / Bright to start where as Shark is easily a step below any of them. A good win for Titan over someone with a bit more pop than him could probably put him into Star quality territory around Taylor/Huggins.

Definitely. Killer Shark is a guy that has more potential than Titan due to SQ and athleticism alone, but he needs more seasoning before he's ready to do anything as a singles guy in a performance-based fed. Titan on the other hand is definitely a right now guy due to his fundamentals and psych, plus his brawling is just under that 70 I always like to have top row skills at.

Maybe a good idea would be to break up the team and push Titan as a singles guy, while teaming Shark with Nick Booth or another guy brought into the Sinner Society.

Yeah I'm an unabashed Shark lover. I had him win King of King's and he's going to win the World title come Total Mayhem 2021. He's improved a lot for me all of 2020 so that helps. I just always assume because he came from the Total School of Wrestling that they would want him to succeed and I like the idea of a powerhouse in the main event scene.

<p>I expanded to Big size after my Week 4 April TV show. SWF fell to medium several weeks ago, but USPW is Large. Am I correct that I'm now going head to head with them in area battles only in the areas where I run non-house shows? So if I stay out of Canada for live events, even though I have TV and PPV coverage there, I won't get dinged up there, even if I lose the battle in the U.S.?</p><p> </p><p>

I still have about a month worth of "warm up" time, but it looks like my Total Mayhem card will happen after I'm out of protection. I'm pretty confident that show rating is going to be better than anything USPW puts out in May, but he's got a little more star power than I do. If we're within a few points--say under a dozen, since I don't have exact numbers in front of me---but my best show is a few points better than theirs...should I risk using a combined score, or just based the battle on the best show?</p>

Sorry, I did not look at the storyline requirement last night. I can check it when I go home and post it this evening.

I usually turn off the regional/area battles. I'm thinking of trying to leave them on this save, but I don't want to get clobbered and drop back to medium as soon as I come out of warm up time.

I think Best Show is probably the easiest to make sure you get if you want a bit of a safety net in that case. That way you can at least aim to make sure you've got one show a month topping their best grade. Combined will probably be tougher to nail. And pop would take a while.

Just hit big. Looks like storyline requirement is 65 X 3. That is definitely doable.

Anyone notice Quentin Queen, TCW School grad who wasn't kept? He's really solid. Im signing him as a jobber for now but I might toss him into Bach's cult too.

TCW has been incredibly fun to pay, I'm really excited to eventually reach Total Mayhem. now that I've hit big I'll have to re-evaluate things a bit. Im not sure if I'll be able to hold on yet or not.

I offered for Son of Vengeance who is actually pretty bad in this game but why not, and it looks like I might outbig SWF. Also no one is going for Jefferson Stardust. I am considering bringing in Remmy Skye but I'll be keeping him one night only deals for the moment.

Now that I'm big, part of me is considering just rolling with a dream match. TCW is in L.A. in my game and I think though TCW is less gimmicky than its competitors, bringing in a Jack Bruce or Skull DeBones to face Champagne Lover in a possibly cinematic match would be pure fun. Bringing in Bryan Vessey back since hes a TCW legend is also a possibility.

Sammy Bach is shit and I hope USPW steals him away.

Anyways, just 2 more shows until War to Settle the Score!

His stamina has gone up tremendously and that along with the Psych stat gives me hope that he'll be able to hold his own. I'm still having him feud with guys with higher Psych and I think that's helped a lot. With him, my goal is to never turn him into a super worker or even a "work rate" guy. The two biggest areas every game that I look for him to improve is Psych and Stamina because that will determine if I get a 18 minute match out of him without gassing AND without him being lost (Psych).</p><p> </p><p> I generally like Titan too though because I never plan on pushing him around midcard, main event level, I consider him expandable. Is anyone else losing all their talent to USPW? Just lost Greg Gauge to them, and he was my world champion. Already lost Jay Chord, Sammy Bach, and Mighty Mo to them.

Are you playing as Booker?

Kyle Rhodes is very stingy so it’s almost impossible to keep your talent if SWF or USPW decide to get in a bidding war. I’m playing as Owner for that very reason - got sick of losing everybody I’d built in my TEW16 TCW save.

I'm playing as booker and I've got Alicia Strong, Hollywood Bret Starr, Huey Cannonball, Emerald Angel, Magnum Kobe, some youngsters like Son of Vengance (who are very easy to sign, 3years 6000 a month). Only person I've lost is Eddie Chandler.

For the top stars (the first 3 i mentioned especially) I just payed 10 years, max wage, and I get them. Alicia Strong coming in 3 days before Mayhem to debut and win the women title really helped, she will be the figurehead and since her contract has 100% of merchandise going to me, it's a great deal, even if she will be 44, and earning 129,150 at 44. (Andrews earns 80,000) while Bret Starr will earn 158,740

EDIT: i understand playing owner 100%, especially with TCW, but I want a bit of a challenge at least to keep it realistic

EDIT EDIT: just realised offering exclusive written's are for some reason much more attractive, and really help in signing people. Wish I knew that sooner

I outbid USPW by 20K on his monthly salary and over 40k for the signing bonus. I also matched the merchandise, and gave him only Events and A shows. He still signed with them. I imagine the fact that they are bigger size helps them as well.</p>

Just started TCW the other night and its super fun. I really wish Jeremie Courtney had better stats because I saw his default Trust Fund Kid gimmick and instantly thought of Richard Holliday from MLW. So TCW is gonna get their own version of The Dynasty. I'm leaning towards Courtney as Holliday, Nick Booth as Alex Hammerstone, and Matt Hocking as MJF. Not sure if I want to sign a luchador to be Gino Medina or not, or if I want to add a bigger star to the group, like Jay Chord or Greg Gauge in the MJF leader role.

I got as far as finishing the 3 Total Wrestlings leading up to Malice. The last one went off the air with a wild brawl between Aaron Andrews, Divine Fortune & T-Bone Bright against the Syndicate, from a contract signing for an Andrews/Hawkins Malice match. Because the brawl started before Wolf signed, Doc Hammond is gonna be wrestling the title match instead.

I only added 1 new feud to the initial storylines, between Edd Stone and Joshua Taylor. I went back to my tried and true of Taylor doing a Butterfly Lock Challenge, with Edd failing on Ep 1. Episode 2, Edd comes out after Taylor refuses to break the hold on Eliott Thomas. Episode 3, Taylor warns Edd that he won't let go at Malice until Edd passes out. Meanwhile, Edd has a video appearance training for the match, a combination of silly Edd things and serious Stone things.

Really looking forward to booking/running Malice tonight after bedtime.

Courtney is someone I never can get around to. His stats are ok but his SQ is a bit low and I always find others who can do what he's suppose to be better. With that said, I never release him because of the School of Pro Wrestling link. Him and Thomas are kinda similar but Thomas has greater strengths (selling, underrated Pysch). I've used Courtney as a weaselly, low card heel in my year. Recently, he's been a recurring partner of Freddy and I've come to find a use for him.

I tossed Courtney with Thomas & Biggins as the blandest trio in the roster as fanboys of Sammy Bach. Not everyone needs to have a big role I think. They're fine losing week to week. I'll give them wins on Showcase & pre-shows occasionally.

Manage to officially nab Stardust & Vengeance. No one even tried going for Mighty Mo. I'm in the process of trying to acquire Running Wolf as well. I dont want to load up my roster on guys from other rosters but it's early so I'm willing to take the risks. We're doing really well though so bulking up the roster might be unnecessary right now.

If I can retain Jay Chord & Greg Gauge, Ive got zero concerns with TCW for the foreseeable future.

I really want a second brand as well but I dont want to slow my game down :/ My showcase already kinda bums me out but is necessary.

<p>I actually think Thomas has value. If I ly he wanted to bulk up and gain some SQ his ceiling would be higher. But his starting stats, particularly the Psych surprised. He's not bad at all and I think he fits as a low end guy. Could also be a solid tag partner, too.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm curious as to who you guys are coveting from the other big companies. In 16 I saw going after the John Greeds, Mainstream Hernandezs of the worlds were really profitable and you could take them if you paid them a little more. This year I'm finding it's the SWF development guys. I've already successfully taken Whole Lotta Marvin, Zeke and Son of Vengeance. I've also taken Cooper Christie from UPSW. He's not a development guys but he's young and has good SQ. I got someone like Jameson purely because I promised I would make him a main eventer.</p>

<p>I love one of the new renders for Jeremie Courtney, but his stats keep me from pushing him. Instead I will push Remus and Hocking as a new tag team from the lower midcard. I am curious what they can do for me.</p><p> </p><p>

Sammy Bach took over the mentoring role for my new roster member Tavon Blake Jr. So far I like Blake very much as a solid future midcarder. He is currently in a TT with a face turned Marc Speed. I found out that they have excellent chemistry together.</p><p> </p><p>

One of my primary goals for TCW is always that my tag teams should be able to main event events and get me good ratings.</p>

Thomas isn't bad. But he's not good enough to justify any sort of push as it is. Who knows in 1 to 5 years though.

I signed Running Wolf & Stardust since their contracts came up. I think Ill mostly just pick guys up who fit and Im willing to go the whole way on.

That said I have some guys I really want to bring in: Cameron Vessey (for the Vessey link), The Cornells (new Syndicate).

Im also considering doing a huge stable thats basically a sort of brotherhood/fraternity sort of thing. It'll be called 21st Century Hedonists and will have Fro Sure (The Rapper), K.P. Avatar (Funkenstein), Silver Tiger (Masked), Will Beaumont (Australian), Garry The Entertainer (The Innovative Leader), Yuta Isono (On/Off Member from Japan), Bollywood Baljit Avatar (Bollywood Star), SubUrban Legend (Australian Rapper), Colossal Karl (German Bodyguard), Super Massive Destroyer (Monster Bodyguard)

I havent signed all of them yet but if another company tries to Ill fight for them. I did sign KP/Garry/Yuta/Karl because they were free agents.
