Road to Glory 2020 Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Since you're allowed to jump around between promotions, including upward, I'm not sure the ones I've quoted would make sense.

Could just read those as "be in an X sized promotion for the first time"

I'm excited to play, so thanks for all the work so far!

Good catches, updated.

I was planning on including a Road To Glory tab on my Ultimate Excel document. What info would you want to see?

It could record starting stats vs. current, yearly stats progression, annual best match. It could also incorporate and generate the random year end roles.

What would you want?

You can see and download the current document version here:

For attributes my recommendation is to not allow them at all and instead rely on rolling randomly for them.

If you try to categorize them and balance them out you will go nuts trying to avoid loopholes or killer combinations. If you create a system, people will naturally try to push it.

There aren't any attributes that are "required". Just give your guy a Professional attitude and call it a day.

<p>I played through the three months of the demo with a 0/0/0/1000 company and it looks to be much easier this year. I ran six shows a month using the same eight workers and lost 3085 in Jan, 1837 in Feb and 263 in March. </p><p> </p><p>

It should be easy enough for a small company to survive in the new game.</p>

<p>Update on Rules:</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Stats</strong> - People seem to like the idea of using the quick skill creation tool. Maybe players could have the choice of using this tool or allocating 750 points themselves. The trade off is you get more points using the tool but less choice about where they go.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Starting/Changing Promotion</strong> - No need to change these requirements</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>User Preferences</strong> - The cosmetic changes are now mixed with the gameplay changes. Shall we just say that preferences can be changed if they don't affect the gameplay (e.g. coloured text)?</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="10TLXdH.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/10TLXdH.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mystery Box</strong> - I liked SeanMcG's additions but I feel very strongly that we should stick to tradition and have 54 items in the list. I also thought a few of the old items could be removed. I'll try and finish the list tonight. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Achievements</strong> - I suggest we use SeanMcG's list from a few posts up. Anymore than that and it becomes difficult to manage.</p>

<p>This is my current RTG roster. Youngman is $40 a show, everyone else is $30 or below. (My negotiating is high)</p><p> </p><p>

Alina America</p><p>

Barry Griffin</p><p>

Bobby Thomas</p><p>

Electric Dreamer</p><p>

Ernest Youngman</p><p>

Findlay O'Farraday</p><p>

Foxxy LaRue</p><p>

Fro Sure</p><p>

Jackpot Jordan</p><p>

Joffy Laine</p><p>

Juliet Balconi</p><p>

Masked Stranger</p><p>

Pinky Perez</p><p>

Roger Monteiro</p><p>

Sayeed Ali</p><p>

The Architect</p><p>

My user character</p><p> </p><p>

If I had more for them to do, I could bring in Frankie-Boy Fernandes, Jake Idol, Hustle Muvva, Danielle Sweetheart, Bradford Peverell for $40 each, and for an extra $10 a night Nelson Callum. All of them have 70+ charisma AND psychology which by RTG standards is breathtaking.</p><p> </p><p>

Why would I ever get someone who isn't either a fantastic in ring worker (relative to the fed's size) or incredibly charismatic when there are so many who ARE one or both of those things available for virtually the same price?</p><p> </p><p>

(And the old system wasn't great but at least had something resembling a challenge.)</p>

hmm, If this doesn't get patched then maybe we need a rule about it.

Yeah, house-ruling it would be next best thing, I guess? Maybe limit ourselves to wrestlers with max respect of "5 + our home area popularity" or something?

This is true. Ian Vincible and Landon Mallory are available for $30 a show in the UK.

Mallory's $50 a show contract with VWA for someone who has psychology 77, charisma 78, brawling 72 and overness 37 is hilariously cheap.

Whenever I've played in the past, I've tried to only sign wrestlers who were otherwise unemployed and/or are from the area I'm based in, and only sign wrestlers working elsewhere if I had to avoid the roster size penalties.

For some reason it doesn't take into consideration respect (as TEW 16 did) OR the fact that he's incredibly over in Central Europe where they're actually running shows. (I tested this by editing Penfold Perdition to 99 in Hawaii - he was more popular than Jack Bruce and still only wanted $40 a show!!)</p>

#19 should either be split up or made random as to which one you get. Skinny Genes is a positive trait and Fat Genes is a negative trait. You probably assumed it made it harder to maintain a Muscular/Ripped body type, but the description says it actually makes it easier to achieve and maintain an impressive physique.

<p>#26 to #28 (the Technical skills) should be combined into one entry for 2020.</p><p> </p><p>

If you're looking to trim some to make room for fresher options, I'd ditch #11 (change wrestling style) as I don't believe it actually means anything in game (except for AI hiring which isn't relevant to user characters).</p><p> </p><p>

I have some other ideas but they're vague and would require heavier redesign.</p>
