An update on the old 5SSW game.

5SSW May 2027

5SSW World Champion - Hoshiko Tagawa [defeated Lucy Stone-McFly at Joshimania 32]
The last remaining member of "The New ANTI" after everyone else(Nakajima, Tai, Kijmuta) retired or defected(Kasahara). Now she leads her own stable(Tagawa-gun) which is more or less a spiritual successor to the new ANTI as the top heel faction in 5SSW. The feud between Tagawa and McFly lasted since the middle of the previous year and culminated in a 89 rated main event match which is pretty good considering Hoshiko Tagawa isn't known as a show stopper.

5SSW All Asian Champion - Etsuko Arihyoshi [defeated Ingegard David(gen wrestler) at Queendom Parade 2026]
An year-long reign in what is Etsuko's last run. She's soon to be 38 and has announced her retirement the month before. The plan is for her to drop it at the main event of the J Grand Prix which is the last PPV before her retirement is due.

5SSW Triangle Champion - K.T Devonshire [defeated Eri Sato and Sarah "Breaker" Taylor at Joshimania 32]
Former Katya Kornishkova. I decided to have her wrestle under her real name and a different kind of character. She is still pretty young this far into the game and I see big things ahead of her.

5SSW Tag Team Champions - The Miyoshi Sisters(Emiko Miyoshi & Shiromi Miyoshi) [defeated The Musketeers(Miwako Katsukawa & Romi Yamato) at Big Crush 2027]
The Miyoshis continue to be the cornerstone of the tag division. They have been carrying it ever since the team got formed. Now beating two veterans in a ladder match that saw Yamato's former friend, Machiko Matsuda, screw her by preventing that she stopped the Miyoshis from grabbing the belts. Yamato and Matsuda did face each other at Joshimania 32 in a bout that Yamato emerged victorious.

5SSW September 2027

5SSW World Champion - Hoshiko Tagawa [defeated Lucy Stone-McFly at Joshimania 32]
Still the champ and with Tagawa-gun unleashing chaos upon the whole company, Hoshiko is riding high. Since she's the world champion, she decided to skip the J Grand Prix and instead, put her stablemates to represent the team at both blocks. (Nami Genda & Ingegard David(random gen) being the Tagawa-gun girls) The Grand Prix ended with Tagawa-gun having an unsuccessful stint with David being middle of the pack on block B and Genda losing to Romi Yamato at the final. Yamato and her fellow musketeer Miwako Katsukawa are currently feuding with Tagawa-gun as Romi chases the champion.

5SSW All Asian Champion -  "The charismatic vacuum" Rika Tsujimura [defeated Etsuko Arihyoshi in a retirement match at J Grand Prix 2027]
This was basically a passing of the torch from the veteran technician no one in her prime. It was face vs face and I gave them more than 20 minutes in a technical masterclass to close Etsuko's career on a high note. While it could have been better, 81 is solid enough and amazing for a 39 year old facing time decline.

5SSW Triangle Champion - K.T Devonshire  [defeated Eri Sato and Sarah "Breaker" Taylor at Joshimania 32]
K.T has been having a busy reign with plenty title defences and even a J Grand Prix run. This has been her coming out part in 5SSW. She just reached 'Well Known' and has fine momentum. She is currently in the tweener stable "S.K.I 1" under leader Fuyuko Higa. The stable has been kinda directionless outside of Devonshire since they are in somewhat of a slump.

5SSW Tag Team Champions - The Miyoshi Sisters(Emiko Miyoshi & Shiromi Miyoshi) [defeated The Musketeers(Miwako Katsukawa & Romi Yamato) at Big Crush 2027]
Still the champions and the team to beat in the division. Emiko had a good showing at the J Grand Prix finishing 3º for Block A with a draw against Eri Sato costing her 2º place. Since she has been mostly a tag team girl, I guess this was fine to start establishing her as a singles threat as well. Shiromi, on the other hand, has been 100% focused on the team. Her current storyline is an obsession with finally winning the Dynamo tag that has eluded the team since their formation.

5SSW December 2027

5SSW World Champion - Hoshiko Tagawa [defeated Lucy Stone-McFly at Joshimania 32]
Our champion managed to fend off the musketeers with defences against both Katsukawa and Yamato. The Romi Yamato vs Hoshiko Tagawa main event being one my highest rated in this entire game(93) as they had a 20+ minute submission match ending when Tagawa (kayfabe) broke Yamato's arm with her cross armbreaker finisher as Yamato refused to give up. Romi Yamato is now getting some time off to sell the injury (and have a kid). At the next PPV(Final Attack) Miwako Katsukawa faced Tagawa to avenge her fallen partner but she was unsuccessful via a distraction caused by a Nami Genda run-in. They are slated to fight again at Reign Supreme inside the Steel Cage.

5SSW All Asian Champion -  "The charismatic vacuum" Rika Tsujimura [defeated Etsuko Arihyoshi in a retirement match at J Grand Prix 2027]
Just as advertised, Tsujimura took Etsuko's role as the wrestling machine holding the All Asian title. At the present moment, she has only faced off against youngsters still climbing up the card. The first 'real' challenge for her reign is gonna be Machiko Matsuda in a little storyline about little snake Matsuda using tricks to overcome the monster face Tsujimura.

5SSW Triangle Champion - Sarah "Breaker" Taylor [defeated K.T Devonshire and Nami Genda at Dynamo Tag 2027]
The former "Little Miss Perfect" finally holds gold again after her world title run some time ago. Once again, Nami Genda failed to achieve any kind of milestone at the service of Tagawa-gun and has been compensating her failures by interfering in every single Hoshiko Tagawa match and basically acting as a bodyguard to try appease her boss. As for Sarah Taylor, she is a babyface now and has been forming an alliance with another former heel in Rina Kasahara to try and rid 5SSW of Hoshiko Tagawa and her merry band of misfits.

5SSW Tag Team Champions - Tagawa-gun(Ingegard David & Cassie O'Peter) [defeated The Miyoshi Sisters(Emiko Miyoshi & Shiromi Miyoshi) at Final Attack 2027]
The dynamo tag tournament once again eluded the Miyoshi Sisters as they lost at the finals to a the returning team of The Uprising. This made the most successful team of this 5SSW game finally show some cracks as Shiromi hasn't been taking the latest loss at the Dynamo Tag well. Miscommunication cost them the titles at the following PPV since neither could really get into the match and it made for an easy win for the top heel stable to really cement them as this big company wide threat as the next Joshimania inches close.

WWF Royal Rumble 1998: Stone Cold Steve Austin
WWF WrestleMania XIV Battle Royal: The Giant
WWF King Of The Ring 1998: Taz

*I bought out WCW in Nov 98. On TV, the newly turned heel Vince McMahon created the WWF Triple Crown Title to represent his ultimate accomplishment of buying out the WCW (which in this game grew out of Mid-South), JCP (in Oct 89) & the AWA (in May 93) by creating the Triple Crown out of those 3 World Titles (am using the Big Gold belt with the NWA World Title lineage). Title was decided at Survivor Series 98 when Vince's ally Randy Savage beat the Giant whilst Vince's Corporate Champion was revealed to be The Rock who won the Deadly Game tournament that same night, screwing over Shawn Michaels who the TV angles had been leading viewers to believe was Vince's Corporate Champion. McMahon turned the now former WCW PPV into WWF Starrcade 98 and used it as a celebratory evening for his year, which turned sour as the undefeated Goldberg returned from his hiatus to defeat Savage for the Triple Crown.

** Unified with the Cruiserweight Title at WWF Halloween Havoc 1998.

Jan 1970 - August (Wk.4) 1976

WWWF World Heavyweight - Andre the Giant

WWWF Intercontinental - Dusty Rhodes

WWWF Light Heavyweight - Jack Brisco

WWWF North American Heavyweight - Jerry Brisco

WWWF World Tag Team - Giant Baba (x3) & Billy Robinson

Jan 1970 - Jan (Wk.1) 1977

WWWF World Heavyweight - Andre the Giant (x1)

WWWF Intercontinental - Jack Brisco (x1)

WWWF Light Heavyweight - Jack Brisco (x1)

WWWF North American Heavyweight - Blackjack Mulligan (x1)

WWWF World Tag Team - Bill Watts & Carlos Colon (x1)

1976 Survivor Series Champions - Bruno Sammartino, Antonio Inoki, and Giant Baba (x1)

It's Andre's world as he closes out 1976 with a victory over The Spoiler & Harley Race in the WWWF's first 3-man singles event to defend the World Title at Final Showdown. Early in his title reign, Andre met up with The Spoiler in Sept 1976's Super Showdown for an instant classic with a 100 rating. Then Wahoo reared his ugly head and reignited the blood feud with his former tag partner. Andre/Wahoo would kick off with a 94 rating in Oct '76, but also came with an injury that will push the feud into 1977. This brought the contendership back to The Spoiler who was just starting to tag with Harley Race in pursuit of the Tag Titles held by Watts & Colon.  Since Watts & Colon were busy with Bobby Heenan's Blackjacks & Co, Spoiler & Race took the fight to Andre who gladly accepted both men in the final main event of the year to score victory with a 95 rating.

Jack Brisco became a two-belt champion, avenging his friend Dusty Rhodes who had earlier lost his IC title to Pat Patterson. Jack would continue tagging with Jerry Brisco and defending the Light Heavyweight & IC belts (sometimes simultaneously) on main shows. This is setting Jerry up to turn heel eventually a la "being in Jack's shadow". Bobby Heenan keeps interfering and offering Jerry "true training" for a "budding singles star". It doesn't help that Blackjack Mulligan defeated Jerry for the North American title either. It's also worth mentioning that Jack Brisco's held the Light Heavyweight title for a year and a couple weeks.

Watts & Colon were an unlikely pairing that captured lightning in a bottle and upset the monster heel team of Spoiler & Bull Ramos for the tag belts. Ramos was booted from Gary Hart Ltd and later left the WWWF for the AWA. Spoiler began a new partner search as Watts & Colon defended against variations of Heenan's Family. First the Blackjacks, then nearly any pairing of team that Heenan had in his stable. Currently the tag contenders are Blackjack Mulligan & Curtis Smith with Spoiler & Harley Race waiting in the wings.

Blackjack Mulligan's having a little popularity bump as a singles competitor winning the North American title from Jerry Brisco. His partner, Jack Lanza, departed for SLWC after several failed tag runs toward the tag titles (and ultimately aging out behind the scenes). This was one of the "straws that broke the camel's back" and the whole North American Tag Tournament fell apart. So I pivoted away from making that a title and just made it a "cash prize" minor storyline event as opposed to actual title belts. The Blackjacks won the finals as a consolation prize as Lanza departed for St Louis and Mulligan went after Jerry Brisco.

Finally, the first Survivor Series was held in Nov 1976 at a sold out Pontiac Silverdome. In the months leading up to the show, 3-man teams compete in a round robin tournament that ends up being the main event where the top 2 teams square off for the annual Survivor Series 3-man title. Bruno Sammartino, Antonio Inoki, and Giant Baba defeated Wahoo McDaniel, Arman Hussain, and Sheik Adnan to become the inaugural champions. Wahoo returned early after I gambled on a risky surgery that paid off.

Oh, last thing worth mentioning; Billy Robinson aged out so I sent him back to WCW/IWA in Australia. So that explains where he went and why Bruno ended up in the Survivor Series with Inoki & Baba.

WWF Television Title: Rey Mysterio Jr 2x**
WWF Tag Team Titles: The Outsiders (Scott Hall & Kevin Nash) 4x

I bought WCW in Nov 98 (which in the game grew out of Mid-South), had bought JCP in Oct 89 & AWA in May 93. The Triple Crown is those 3 World Titles with the Big Gold belt used on TV and keeping the NWA World Title lineage. On TV, the newly turned heel Vince McMahon (also new head of the nWo) created the Triple Crown to represent his ultimate accomplishment of buying out the territories.  The Deadly Game tournament was upcoming and Vince wanted the WWF Title & Triple Crown in the nWo under his control, but Commissioner Dusty Rhodes announced it would be decided fairly at Survivor Series 98 where Vince's ally Randy Savage would face The Giant. At Survivor Series, Savage beat The Giant whilst Vince's nWo Champion was revealed to be The Rock who won the Deadly Game tournament, screwing over Shawn Michaels (who TV angles led viewers to believe was Vince's choice) with the help of HHH who turned on HBK, leaving DX for the nWo. The celebratory first Raw of 1999 at the Georgia Dome turned sour as the undefeated Goldberg returned from hiatus to defeat Savage for the Triple Crown, then won the Royal Rumble. But at Mania XV the nWo got revenge when The Outsiders helped Bret Hart take the Triple Crown from Goldberg.

I dont like 2nd World Titles but my rosters quite bloated at the moment and am toying with the idea of either relaunching Nitro or debuting Smackdown (but no brand split) to spread things out a little, but too many TV shows usually ruin my enthusiasm. WWF Championship will always be priority and Main Event PPVs, so it's a work in progress as I fight temptation to start yet another new 1985 game 😬

I 100% get it.  I love booking 80-2000.  After, I'm not as creative.

What does your competition look like?  A fun challenge could be, leave WWF for another promotion and attempt to defeat the evil empire

Agreed, I have pretty much zero interest in booking the 2000s. Longest save I've had was on TEW 2016, 1985 game and I got to 2007 but didnt have much interest in what I was booking.  My main competition is actually CMLL, their 2nd in the world, very healthy financially and are the only company to offer contracts to my guys when renegotiating. Their roster also is a who's who of guys I used to use, as evidenced by the current reigning Mexican National Trios Champions of John Kronus, The Ultimate Warrior & Lex Luger.

Good idea, I might also try a JCP/WCW save, or try a 1980 or 1983 database. I tend to figure a plan for next years WrestleMania, which I have now, so might stick with this one through that, but with some time off work for the holidays imminent, jumping into an 80s save is far more appealing.
