WWE - A New Beginning

Every era must one day come to an end...

And, if fate be kind, something greater can be reborn from the ashes.

Another Monday Night RAW was in the books, captained by long-time owner of World Wrestling Entertainment Vincent Kennedy McMahon. For years the man was virtually a God among men, whom thought himself a creative genius and virtually infallible. Things, however, had gradually begun to slip.

Ratings were falling to the lowest numbers the company had ever had. The rise of rival promotions have shaken the once unbreakable monopoly the WWE coasted on for nearly a decade. For a time shareholders and sponsors softened the blow, and McMahon was able to pretend that the business was simply in a downward slump. He just had to ride it out. Yet, as the man looked in the mirror backstage he saw something he never truly saw before now - an old man. He was tired. He no longer had the creative juices to dig himself out of downward spiral the company now found itself in.

McMahon let out a sigh. He had been fighting for years to avoid this day, but time always wins in the end. It was time he stepped down, and allowed the next generation to take the reigns of the company completely. To bring the company up from the ashes like the phoenix, or to bury it completely once and for all. But who? Shane was often off in his own world trying to make his own way in the world, trying to show his old man he didn't need the WWE machine behind him to be a success. And Stephanie? She did good work behind the scenes but she never seemed to want to be the head honcho in reality. No, unfortunately his children wouldn't do.

Truthfully, the more he thought on it the more he realized there was but one answer - Stephanie's husband, and former multi-time WWE Champion Paul "Triple H" Levesque. After all, he took an almost after thought development company and turned it into what was essentially a third brand. He had done to impossible and repaired the burnt bridge with Bruno Sammartino. Hell, he was basically single handedly responsible for giving the WWE a new generation of talent to go to after years of neglecting to build new stars. Paul was the only choice, and it was time to give him the keys to the kingdom.

Vince sighed, and glanced over to one of his assistants whom was busy collecting things from his makeshift office so it could be moved to the next town.

"Hey pal ... could you go get Hunter as soon as possible? I have something important to discuss with him."

The man nodded and soon dashed out the door. It had begun. The WWE that existed in this moment was not going to be the same WWE that put on a show this following Monday, and who knew what shape it was going to take from here on out...

Monday - Week 1 - July 2020

Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine

As WWE Monday Night RAW comes on the air this week, we are treated with the shot of the entire WWE roster surrounding the ring - and those with a careful eye may notice some of roster seems to be gone now. An omen of changes to come. Further examination might notice none of the champions seem to be holding their championship gold. Finally, the camera centers on Triple H, who is surrounded by four display cases which each have a championship belt (or in the case of one of them - a set of twin belts). After a couple of moments to allow the fans to cheer the start of the show, Hunter begins to speak.

Triple H: "As of earlier this week, Vince McMahon has stepped down as owner of World Wrestling Entertainment and retired." A brief pause to let the fans gasp in surprise. "I have been appointed the new owner of the company, and with this new ownership there are going to be quite a few changes around here. Business has been down. I know it. You all know it. Yet, business for NXT has been up. Why? Because NXT takes wrestling seriously where as RAW and SmackDown quite simply has not for quite some time now."

"That is going to change. We are going to start making things mean something around here. The first order of business is to strip each and every champion of their belt. Why? Because when you have two world champions, nobody is truly the best. The same goes for the womens, and tag divisions. When nobody has anything to truly shoot for, nobody watching cares. So from now on that long list of championships is going to be reduced to four - WWE World Heavyweight, WWE Junior Heavyweight, WWE Women's Heavyweight, and WWE World Tag Team. I know there is going to be an adjustment period in making these championships mean something but I think when you see what the future holds you'll be just as proud of them as I am. Of course since we no longer have a different world championship for each brand, we no longer need brands - so as of tonight the brand split is lifted and all talent can work both shows."

"We are going to begin the path to crown two of these champions tonight with the announcement of two championship tournaments. The first is going to be a 16 woman single elimination tourney featuring Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Sasha Banks, Dana Brooke, and Shayna Baszler!" Hunter pauses again to let the crowd cheer. "Now for the men's heavyweight championship tourney I wanted to do something a little different - in Japanese wrestling promotions they often run a round robin styled tourney. Two blocks. Ten men in each block. Everybody must wrestle everybody. A win in a match gets you two points. A draw earns you one. A loss earns you nothing. In the end the man who gets the most points in the first block steps into the ring with the highest scorer of the second block with the winner being crowed the ultimate winner of the tourney... and that is how we are going to name our first champion"

"Competing in Block A to be contested on episodes of RAW, including tonight, we will have Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, AJ Styles, Drew McIntyre, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens, and Andrade." Another brief pause for cheers. "In Block B we have Big E, Bobby Lashley, Cesaro, Jeff Hardy, Dolph Ziggler, Jey Uso, John Morrison, King Corbin, Kofi Kingston, and Sami Zayn." The camera shows various shows of the twenty men announced. "I wish you all good luck, and I welcome all of you here tonight - and all of you watching around the world to the new era of WWE!"

Jey Uso & Jeff Hardy defeated Dolph Ziggler & John Morrison

Following a 9:34 sprint, Jeff Hardy managed to snag Ziggler with the Twist of Fate to score the win for his team in a preview of B-Block action to come later in the week.

Asuka defeated Charlotte Flair to advance in the Women's Heavyweight Championship Tourney

In an absolute battle lasting 15:05 two of the best ladies on the roster went back and forth until finally "The Empress of Tomorrow" caught Flair with the Asuka Lock, forcing Flair to tap out.

Braun Strowman was seen backstage yelling, and throwing chairs in the locker room upset that he got stripped of the Universal Championship after struggling for so long to finally win the big one. Officials eventually calmed him down but it looks like he's gonna be especially volatile for whomever he's stepping into the ring with tonight.

Bayley defeated Alexa Bliss to advance in the Women's Heavyweight Championship Tourney

In a fairly back and forth contest that was perhaps a bit less intense than the previous match, Bayley managed to squeak by Alexa Bliss after poking her in the eye, and then quickly rolling her into a small package while the ref wasn't looking.

We cut backstage to where Big E, and Kofi Kingston are standing in front of a pin board which has photographs of all of the men scheduled to compete in the B Block on SmackDown.

Big E: "OoooooooooooOooohhh BOSTON! Don't you dare be sour! Clap for your world famous multi time champs and feel ...the POWAH."

Kofi Kingston: "And speaking of championships, starting this week we both have the opportunity to become the WWE Champion. I know you want it. You know I want to hold it once again. But whoooooo..." Both men annoying make hooting sounds like they're parodying owls. "Are we going to have to go up against?"

Big E: "Bobby Lashley? Well I'll be a son of a..."

Kofi Kingston: "Please E. The man couldn't even beat Lana in divorce court. NEXT! Cesaro? He hasn't been relevant since he stopped carrying Sheamus' bags. Jeff Hardy? I..."

Big E: "Nah nah nah. Don't make fun of him. He freaks me out with all that face paint and alumimummy stuff. But what about everyone's favorite second player, Dolph Ziggler? Not even gonna play. He ain't winning. You know he ain't. Uce? Morrison? I don't even think they remember how to work singles."

Kofi Kingston: "You're right. But what about King Corbin? Remember when people used to count down to his finisher and now they just count sheep when he's in the ring? He's dangerous man. And Sami Zayn? I figured he'd be too busy making those movies with James Franco, but turns out hes gonna be there."

Big E: "Real talk though Kofi, we both know there are only two people who have a chance of winning and going on to become the first..." The two begin to gyrate their hips toward the camera slowly and creepily. "WWE World Heavyweight Champion... and they are YA BOYS... the..."

Both: "NEEEEEWWW DAAAAYYY!"

Andrade defeated Kevin Owens in an A-Block Wrestling Classic Match.

In a match lasting 15:01 it seemed that while Andrade was putting up just enough of a fight to prevent himself from losing, that Kevin Owens had this initial victory in the bag. That is until Zelina Vega grabbed Owen's leg while he was preparing for the Pop-Up Powerbomb distracting him. This allowed Andrade to school boy Owens with pulled tights to get the three.

Jeff Hardy is shown walking backstage, heading toward catering when suddenly out of nowhere Cesaro shoulder blocks him into some nearby production crates. Cesaro quickly follows up by grabbing Hardy's head and slamming it into those very same crates before rushing off as officials arrive to break it up. All that mattered is now Hardy wasn't gonna be 100% for their upcoming tourney match.

Bray Wyatt defeated Drew McIntyre in an A-Block Wrestling Classic Match.

A determined Drew McIntyre threw everything he had against Bray Wyatt, who was not appearing tonight as his alter ego "The Fiend". Unfortunately, after 15:24 the appearance in the corner of the ring of one of Wyatt's unusual puppets provided just enough of a distraction for Drew to walk right into a Sister Abigail and start off his tourney run with a loss.

Segment Rating: 59%

We cut backstage to a locker room where Drew McIntyre is sitting watching footage of himself beating Brock Lesnar just a mere few months ago at WrestleMania. Eventually he begins to speak, never taking his eyes off the footage.

Drew McIntyre: "For years I struggled to live up to the reputation Vince McMahon laid upon me as the 'chosen one'. For years I failed to live up to it. I toiled down in the opening matches, performing skits in a comedy stable. I got released because I wasn't ready yet. I could have given up. But instead I got better. I became the man I was meant to be all those years ago. And finally, I got to come back where it all started."

"Finally I reached my potential. I won the world championship. And then just like that it was gone. I'm back at square one. Forced to prove myself again, but with even lower odds. I've seen former champions complaining backstage. But me? I see this as an opportunity. Last time I showed I belonged. This time. This time when I win the A Block, and then go on to win the championship - I will finally truly be the 'chosen one' I was predicted to be. And mark my words. Nobody is going to stop me."

AJ Styles defeated Braun Strowman in an A-Block Wrestling Classic Match.

AJ struggled quite a big with the very angry Braun Strowman, but a combination of match length wearing the big man down and sheer rage forcing him to make mistakes that AJ could exploit allowed an opening for Styles to sneak a low blow behind the ref's back and pin the big man for the three... before quickly getting the hell backstage again.

Segment Rating: 62%

Daniel Bryan defeated Seth Rollins in an A-Block Wrestling Classic Match.

In an epic confrontation lasting 19:54, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins went back and forth move for move with seemingly no end in sight. Neither man refused to say die. Eventually, Bryan found just enough of an opening to deliver the Knee Plus which finally put Rollins down for the three.

Randy Orton defeated Roman Reigns in an A-Block Wrestling Classic Match.

In another slobberknocker of a contest, Randy and Roman brawled for 20:19 with "The Viper" constantly attempting to manipulate the situation to his benefit. Still he struggled to keep the big man down, until Roman attempted the spear only to be caught by an RKO midway through the move. Orton pinned Roman, with his feet up on the ropes just to make SURE he got the victory.

Friday Week 1 2020 - Hart Center (Worcester, MA)

Fireworks erupt as the first SmackDown Live of the new regime begins. Almost immediately the music of former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar begins to play leading to the man making his way to the ring accompanied by his advocate Paul Heyman. As per the usual Brock remains stoic, hopping in place a bit in the center of the ring while his mouthpiece retrieves a microphone and begins his all too familiar spiel.

JzaR2FQ.jpgBhshglL.jpg

Heyman: "Ladies and gentlemen my name is Paul Heyman, and I stand before you tonight not merely as the advocate for the Beast Incarnate Brock LES-ner... but also as a messenger. My client has observed the fact that despite being a former multi-time Universal, and WWE Champion AND despite the fact that there were 20 slots available for this so-called 'wrestling classic' that Triple H neglected to issue an invitation to the man most deserving of the opportunity. Perhaps this is because at one time Brock Lesnar dominated and conquered Mr. Helmsley. Perhaps our faithful employer harbors a resentment and unfortunate bias. Clearly this has become an unfair and unsafe working environment for my client, and as such he has asked me to announce that as of this moment forward he will be declaring his contractual right to go on a personal leave until Mr. Helmsley is willing to negotiate terms and come to an agreement that pleases my client."

"As for myself - now that proverbial flood gates have been opened and change is on the horizon I think it's time that I begin to right a few wrongs. Now those who remember ECW know that I was known for being the first glimpse many American fans had of the superstars of Mexico, and Japan. Performers who revolutionized this industry. But did we see Psicosis rise to the dominance he deserved for his award winning matches with Rey Mysterio? No. We saw him driving to the ring making a mockery of his heritage in a giant lawnmower because Vince McMahon thought it was funny. Did we see Taka Michinoku given the opportunity he deserved after giving Triple H one of the most hard fought defenses of his career? No. Of course not. Instead we saw the man threatening to 'choppy choppy' another man's body. The best performers in the world were robbed of their prime with humiliating, and blatantly racist characters and I believe it is time that I help put a stop to it."

"At Extreme Rules I will introduce to the world a new client, who is going to show just how good men of his heritage can be. But don't mistake this as a feel good moment of triumph. My new client will not be arriving to bow as you applaud him, and chant you deserve it. No, he will be here to hurt people. He will be here to win. And he will be here to make everybody pay. And that isn't a prediction ladies and gentlemen ...THAT is a spoiler."

Dana Brooke vs. Shayna Baszler

Quarter-Finals Match WWE Women's Heavyweight Championship Tournament

While the muscular blonde tried her best to stand toe to toe with the former MMA fighter, Shayna mostly toyed with Dana for a few minutes before locking her into the Kirifuda Clutch for the submission.

Winner: Shayna Baszler via submission in 8:13

Following a short commercial break the show returns to a child-like tune, and the colorful graphics depicting Bray Wyatt's Firefly Fun House. The various puppets are all around the room awaiting the man himself, when just like a sadistic Mr. Rogers he walks through the front door. He smiles at the camera, waves goofily, and soon begins addressing the viewers in a upbeat tone of voice.

MltYpp0.jpg

Wyatt: "YOWIE WOWIE! Hello to all of our new friends here at the Firefly Fun House. Now last Monday night we got to play a fun game with Drew McIntyre"." A chorus of child like voices are dubbed in to boo. "Oh don't be like that kids. Drew was just grumpy because Mommy and Daddy took away his favorite toy. But that's ok! We're not gonna let him ruin our fun are we kids? GREAT! Because next Monday we get to play with one of our favorite friends! You remember..." His voice grows deeper, and sinister sounding. "Daniel Bryan don't you?" Bray stares coldly into the camera for a moment before seemingly snapping out of it and returning to his happy-go-luck tone from before. "Oh how I have missed our games! So we're gonna have to have a play date he will never forget. So get excited Bryan because it's going to be a night to remember!" Bray giggles a little before that same cold stare from before returns and the camera remains on that look before fading to the next segment.

Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks

Quarter-Finals Match WWE Women's Heavyweight Championship Tournament

Bianca came into this match with an understanding that this was her biggest opportunity yet, and was determined to win. So despite Sasha giving her much in the way of a fight, Bianca used her superior strength - and a little help from her ponytail to wear down Sasha enough to lay her out with the KOD.

Winner: Bianca Belair via pinfall in 10:30

Cesaro vs. Jeff Hardy

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Try as he might, Jeff Hardy never got off the ground in this match as he seemed to be somewhat hurt from Cesaro's attack on Monday. Cesaro quickly barraged Hardy and put him away with the Neutralizer.

Winner: Cesaro via pinfall in 4:45

After a short commercial break, the show returns to shots of the crowd when all of a sudden the loud boisterous voice of Big E is heard echoing over the P.A. system.

Big E: "OoooOoooohhhh WORCESTER! Don't you DARE be SOUR! Clap for your soon to be world famous WWE World Heavyweight Champ and FEEL the POWAHHH..."

The New Day's theme song began playing shortly after and Big E quickly rushed the stage throwing pancakes into the crowd. For such a big time match it didn't seem like he was taking it particularly seriously.

Big E vs. Bobby Lashley

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

While at the start of the match Big E seemed content to try to harass and annoy Bobby Lashley, doing the usual New Day-styled antics once Bobby Lashley knocked him around for a while Big E's demeanor began to change a bit. Fans could see the realization that the "fun and games" era of the WWE was coming to a close and the rest of the competitors were showcasing a meaner streak than before realizing this was the opportunity they were waiting for, for years. Big E began to fight back but he was too off his game and eventually Lashley put him away with the running powerslam for the three.

Winner: Bobby Lashley via pinfall in 10:16

Dolph Ziggler vs. Jey Uso

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Dolph Ziggler showed a bigger sign of determination coming into his match than he has in quite some time, as it was no secret he has had a major chip on his shoulder for months now. Finally with this new era he had the opportunity to realize his own self-inflated hype. Jey Uso was a competitive opponent, but in the end Ziggler just refused to be denied. Zig Zag got the three. Perhaps it was time for Dolph Ziggler to finally show the world what he's made of.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler via pinfall in 9:51

We cut backstage to where Seth Rollins is shown walking backstage where he stumbles into Braun Strowman watching a monitor. Seth smirks, and open chuckles a bit at him before patting him mockingly on the shoulder.

onUuyuG.jpgsReWe4Z.jpg

Rollins: "Don't look so glum big man. I know last Monday didn't work out for you, but I will be happy to save you next week after I pin you in the middle of the ring."

Braun chuckled back at Seth, before his face turned into a sneer and he shoved him down to the ground. Seth reacted, as one might expect, by shooting up and immediately diving on the bigger man and a brawl ensued before quickly being broken up by officials before a repeat of the Cesaro/Hardy confrontation could occur.

John Morrison vs. King Corbin

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

The two crafty heels spent the majority of the match attempting to out fox one another, but in the end John Morrison had one tool in his toolbox that King Corbin lacked. The Miz eventually got up on the apron and began shouting at Corbin, mocking him for all of his king getup. Corbin foolishly turned to give Miz a sarcastic response only to walk back into a superkick. Starship Pain followed for the victory.

Winner: John Morrison via pinfall in 10:26

We cut backstage to where Roman Reigns is watching the conclusion of the last match on a monitor when JoJo approaches for a quick interview with the flagship player.

z0pmkVa.jpg94J7Ppd.jpg

Jojo: "Excuse me, Roman? This Monday night you will continue your path through the A-Block when you step into the ring with Andrade. What are your thoughts concerning this bout?"

Roman: "I saw Andrade manage to put away a guy like Kevin Owens last week. Sure he had a little help from Zelina Vega ... but the guy has skills. I know I'm stepping into a fight. But I didn't fight through cancer to stop fighting now. I've been away from championship gold for far too long, and I aim to collect whats mine. Believe that."

Roman would look into the camera and cock his arm like a gun, before nodding and walking off as we cut to the next segment.

Kofi Kingston vs. Sami Zayn

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Despite the earlier reality check that Big E got against Lashley, Kofi Kingston came into this match with a former WWE Intercontinental Champion attempting to have fun - albeit taking it slightly more seriously as more of a seasoned veteran. Still, Kofi was distracted with wanting to entertain more than he was with winning leading to Sami Zayn delivering a Helluva Kick to put the former WWE Champion down for the three count.

Winner: Sami Zayn via pinfall in 14:35

He came at Bray with everything he had, and came out on the upper hand more often than not. Finally, after roughly 13 minutes Bray was dazed in the middle of the ring and Bryan ran at him laying him out with the Knee Plus. He pinned Bray for the one ... two... and then the lights in the arena suddenly cut out.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="yUKSMtO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yUKSMtO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> When the lights came on again Bryan was covering nobody and towering over him was Bray's alter ego The Fiend! Yet, it seemed Bray Wyatt was not yet finished. He mounted Bryan and begin delivering punch after punch to the man's face to keep him down. A move that had put out many superstars over the years. Owens slid into the ring and checked on Bryan before his eyes locked onto The Fiend's who stood outside of the ring as if that powerbomb had never happened. The final shots of the show were Wyatt laughing, and Owen mumbling in disbelief. * Although there was a scare related to an injury to Dolph Ziggler which may put his placement in the Wrestling Classic in jeopardy, WWE Medical Staff have determined the injury was not major and Ziggler should be fully recovered by next week. He will work through the pain and will not miss his scheduled tournament contest versus John Morrison on SmackDown.</p><p> </p><p>

* Dave Meltzer reports that the reason Zelina Vega and Andrade were separated on camera was due to road agent reports that the two performed miserably together. In an attempt to salvage Andrade before their negative reaction tanked his popularity the decision was made to separate the two. In a similar story, Cesaro has separated from his alliance with Shinsuke Nakamura, and Sami Zayn as a similar reaction was had to Sami acting as manager for Cesaro's behalf.</p><p> </p><p>

* The following matches have been announced for the next WWE PPV event "Extreme Rules". This show will be taking place Sunday, Week 4, July 2020.</p><p> </p><p>

But I'm not like Seth. I'm not going to assume I've got him right where I want him. Not yet. I know when to wait. And I know when to strike. And strike I will, Jojo. A set of pyrotechnics kicks off the televised portion of this weeks exciting episode of WWE Monday Night RAW. Standing in the ring is WWE interviewer Sarah Schreiber. She smiles, and waves at a couple of fans in the front row.

Sarah: "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time ... The Undertaker!"

oa9Aanr.jpgjb0TsGe.jpg

The lights in the arena momentarily went completely out, followed by a drum rift and the familiar sound of a church bell. The Deadman's voice was soon heard to say "DEAD MAN WALKING" before the theme proper began. Soon the sound of a revving motorcycle filled the air as an Undertaker reminiscent to the "Big Evil" era of his career drove down the ramp and then around to park at ringside. He entered the ring and threw his arms up into the air to a chorus of cheers.

Sarah: "Now, last Friday at SmackDown it was announced that at Extreme Rules you will be stepping into the ring with the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar. You, of course, are no stranger to this man as he was the one that ended your legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania. How do you feel going into this contest?"

Undertaker reached out to grab another microphone and paced around the ring for a moment. The look on his face could be best described as simply unimpressed. He tilts his neck a moment to crack it and waves the camera closer to he can talk right up close so there wasn't anything to distract Brock from the message he had to deliver.

Undertaker: "Imagine my surprise when I was watching the television a week and a half ago to see a grown ass man having himself a temper tantrum over not getting into this Wrestling Classic tournament. Then he threatens to take his ball and go home? This coming from the supposed baddest man on the planet? Yeah. You're tough. But if you want some pure bona fide respect then you need to take off your pissin' pants and man the hell up. Now you may have ended my undefeated streak a few years back - but that was a different me. That was the me that was all theatrics. This version of me? Big evil? You ain't gotta worry about spooky mist, or lightning bolts or any of that crap. All you need to worry about is me kicking your bony ass all around this ring." The crowd let out a burst of cheers for that statement, and Taker allowed them a moment to get it out of their system before he continued. "If you want respect, and you want championship opportunities then you need earn respect, and the best way to do that is to respect the business - and threatening to walk out ain't gonna win you that. But I'll do you a favor boy. You want to be a star? You want to be the man standing in the spotlight? Fine. At Extreme Rules I will make you famous. I just hope you bring your best. Lets see the man that ended my streak - because if he don't show up? I'll be ending you."

The Undertaker's theme began playing, as Taker went back to playing to the crowd. Corey Graves, Michael Cole, and Jerry Lawler go over the matches to come later in the show before we cut to commercial.

Rey Mysterio Vs. Angel Garza Vs. Buddy Murphy Vs. Humberto Carrillo

Winner Moves Onto WWE Junior Heavyweight Championship Match At Extreme Rules

In the first four way dance of the modern era of the WWE the veteran Rey Mysterio found himself standing across the ring from three young, and hungry newcomers. Angel Garza, who brought Zelina Vega along with him, was crafty and not afraid to cheat - as well as being a respectable high flyer. Buddy Murphy was a very underrated performer capable of both high flying, and impressive feats of strength. Lastly you had Humberto Carrillo, whom despite being something of an underdog in this match still had impressive skills in the air.

The match quickly boiled down to Angel, and Buddy working together against the two faces. While the two were able to put down Humberto without too much difficulty they had their hands full with the legendary veteran. Eventually they laid out Rey temporarily and when it came time to go for the pin they predictably turned on other another leading to the match turning into a massive four way fight. Eventually Buddy, and Angel laid out Humberto with a double DDT before turning on each other and spilling out of the ring. This allowed Rey the chance to Drop Da Dime on Humberto and get the three to move on to face Heyman's new client.

Winner: Rey Mysterio in 10:29 via pinfall (Drop Da Dime) 43%

Sami Zayn & Dolph Ziggler Vs. Cesaro & Bobby Lashley

In a match designed to be a preview of next Friday's Sami Zayn vs. Bobby Lashley, and Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler matches these two teams went at it to get a little bit of momentum over the opposing side before the match that counted. For the most part Cesaro was the main focus in the ring for his team, where as Ziggler took control for his team - now fully recovered from his previous injury scare.

Eventually Lashley entered the fray and just simply dominated. He threw around Sami, and Ziggler like they were discarded toys. When he grew tired of it, he tagged Cesaro back in and told him to finish it up. Cesaro, feeling his opponents were all but finished was very lax in ending the match and nearly got himself caught by a zig zag from Ziggler. Eventually Cesaro managed to fluke a win for his team after rolling up Ziggler following a distraction from Lashley, placing his feet on the ropes to ensure the three.

Winner: Cesaro in 10:06 via pinfall (Roll Up) 58%

Shayna Baszler Vs. Kairi Sane

As Shayna stood across from the ring from Kairi she had a sadistic smirk on her face, looking as the Pirate Princess as little more than a meal for a apex predator. She underestimated Kairi so much that when Kairi started knocking her back against the ropes with a series of vicious elbows, the former MMA fighter was legitimately stunned for a moment.

Still, fight as Kairi might, Shayna wasn't about to be humiliated en route to what she believed to be a guaranteed championship win. She waited for Kairi to make a mistake in going for her flying elbow drop too early and she soon jumped up, pulling Kairi's legs so she'd get crotched on the ropes, and then quickly pulled Kairi off immediately locking her in the Kirifuda Clutch for the submission after a minor struggle.

Winner: Shayna Baszler in 9:50 via submission (Kirifuda Clutch) 40%

After the bell rang Shayna refused to break the hold, and it started to look like Kairi was going to completely lose consciousness. The referee was pleading with Shayna to release the hold leading Shayna to yell out something related to "gotta teach her a lesson". Suddenly the sound of Asuka's theme began to rumble throughout the arena.

Ja5oTHY.jpg

Shayna seemingly couldn't even hear it, so focused on hurting Kairi. She realized Asuka was there, however, when the Empress of Tomorrow slid into the ring and booted her right in the forehead with a running dropkick. This stunned Shayna long enough to release Kairi, and Asuka soon took the opportunity to lock Shayna in the Asuka Lock just long enough to make a statement before Shayna powdered under the ring. The two stared one another down through the ropes, before the show cut to commercial.

Andrade Vs. Drew McIntyre

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

In the first of this week's A-Block contests we have "The Chosen One" Drew McIntyre stepping into the ring with the tranquillo Andrade. Andrade no longer seemed lost without Zelina Vega by his side, having had a week to come to terms with it - and showed a more focused attitude in this contest. Drew, as usual, was completely focused and determine to reclaim the title that was stripped away rather than him having loss it.

A determination that served him well, as no matter what method of crafty underhanded tactics Andrade attempted it bore no fruit against Drew. Eventually Andrade fell via a Claymore directly to the face for the three.

Winner: Drew McIntyre in 9:33 via pinfall (Claymore) 64%

We soon cut to the Titan Tron as the opening jingle for Bray Wyatt's "Firefly Funhouse" began to play. Pipped in children's applause soon followed as the man himself stepped through the door into a very Mr. Rogers-esq sound stage. Bray waved to the camera, a big goofy smile on his face.

MltYpp0.jpg

Bray: "Hi kids! Boy oh boy are we gonna have fun today!" The pipped in children cheer and clap, shouting yay! "We get to play with our good friend Kevin Owens! But we can't just play ANY game. Oh no. We know the kind of games that..." Bray's voice quickly grows deeper, and more sinister. "...men like Kevin Owens like to play."

Bray's goofy act returned, and one of Bray's puppets, Sister Abigail, popped up from behind a table. The puppet suggested in a chilling voice that Bray should let his special friend come out to play with Kevin instead. This amused Bray very much, as he let out a hearty chuckle.

Bray: "Good idea Sister Abigail! I don't want to be a naughty Nate and leave all the fun to myself. Besides Kevin Owens likes to play rough, and I think my special friend likes to play those kind of games much more than I do ...Oh Mr. Fiend?!"

Bray made a surprised face as the lights on his stage began to flicker and go out. Soon a spotlight shone up from the ground, and goofy Bray Wyatt was gone. All that remained was The Fiend.

Bray: "Let ... Me ... In."

A sudden horror movie esq scream sound effect played for but a split second, before the camera returned to ringside and the Firefly Funhouse had ended just as suddenly as it began.

Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Matt Riddle

In a battle of two hungry midcard talents looking to make a name for themselves "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura stepped into the ring with the "Original Bro" Matt Riddle. This was a strong technical styled contest where each man had a clear answer to whatever the other attempted to do.

The more crafty Nakamura, however, was completely willing to tip the odds in his favor and soon lured Riddle into grabbing him for a german suplex while the ref was in front of him unable to see Nakamura's leg swing upwards into Riddle's groin with a low blow. While Riddle was stunned, Nakamura quickly moved to the corner before rushing out and kneeing Riddle in the head laying him out. KINSHASA! A quick pinfall and Nakamura is the victor.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura in 14:43 via pinfall (Kinshasa) 58%

We cut backstage to where Sarah Scheiber is standing alongside the "Swiss Superman" Cesaro, who previously in the evening picked up a win over his A-Block opponent for Friday, Dolph Ziggler.

oa9Aanr.jpgHqm5EYS.jpg

Sarah: "My guest at this time ... Cesaro! Now, earlier tonight you picked up a victory in a tag contest against your Wrestling Classic B-Block opponent Dolph Ziggler. Thus far Ziggler is undefeated in these tourney matches. Do you think you can repeat the win in singles competition?"

Cesaro scoffs at the question, an arrogant smirk on his face. From his perspective was there even a question? Was there even doubt?

Cesaro: "The only reason Dolph Ziggler is undefeated is that he hasn't faced me. Simple as that. Lets be honest here, Sarah. Ziggler has had so many opportunities over the years that it's become an inside joke where whenever he's in a match you predict he's not going to win. Meanwhile I am one of the most criminally underutilized men on this entire roster. And Ziggler has the gall to come out here time and time again talking about how this opportunity should have been his. That opportunity should have been his. As far as I'm concerned the only opportunity he's going to get on Friday is the opportunity to see first hand what my Neutralizer feels like. Maybe after the match you can pull him aside and ask him how it feels to lose when it counts ... again."

Cesaro winked at her, which she pretended to not notice, before walking off camera. Sarah shrugged giving the camera a "what are you gonna do" kinda look before it cut back to ringside.

Roman Reigns Vs. Seth Rollins

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Our next A-Block match pitted two founding members of The Shield against one another. In one corner the self-proclaimed "Messiah" of the WWE, Seth Rollins. In the other? The Big Dog. Roman Reigns. At first Seth attempted to talk to Roman as if they were friends, and as if he hadn't been the one who betrayed The Shield to begin with. He once again extended the offer to "save" him if would only lie down and allow Seth to pin him and claim his first two points.

Unfortunately for the Messiah of the WWE, Roman was not in the giving mood and responded to his offer with a Superman Punch. Seeing that the path of diplomacy was not the way to go, Seth attempted to utilize his superior speed to try to work around the former powerhouse of the stable. When that didn't get the job done Seth soon resorted to trying to cheat his way to a win. Unfortunately, in the end, he would once again be denied placement on the scoreboard as Roman dazed him long enough to run at him with a crushing Spear for the three. If Seth was going to have a snowball's chance in hell of winning his block he was going to have to be a little smarter going forward.

Winner: Roman Reigns in 15:19 via pinfall (Spear) 73%

We soon cut to a clearly CGI set on a green screen somewhere backstage acting as the set for "The Dirt Sheet". Two directors chairs were set up where The Miz, and John Morrison sat. The two were whispering to one another until they realized the cameras were rolling. Miz turned his attentions to the camera, still wearing sunglasses indoors to appear even worse than he is, and began to speak.

vADr3xj.jpgUm5zw6E.jpg

Miz: "Welcome everyone to the most must-see gossip show this side of the WWE. Myself and John Morrison bring to you ... The Dirt Sheet! And tonight we are going to be talking about Morrison's opponent this coming Friday, Big E."

Morrison: "You know what I don't get Miz? After years of going ballistic about stupid stuff like pancakes, and ice cream trucks and all sorts of other playschool-tier stuff we're supposed to pretend suddenly The New Day are actually threats ... why? Because Big E decided he was gonna put on a frown instead of a smile? Sounds to me like he has an identity crisis."

Miz: "The New Day's entire career seemingly was based around bringing Kofi to the WWE Championship, and after he lost it - in one move, might I add - they went right back to dancing, smiling, and basically being party clowns. Brock Lesnar was right to be upset. Neither Kofi, nor Big E should have even been IN this tourney. Meanwhile a former world champion like myself was left out. Why? Because they were eleven time tag champs at a time when the division consisted of four teams?"

Morrison: "It's pathetic right? But no matter. This Friday when I beat Big E - in one move, might I add - it will humiliate him so soundly that I wouldn't be shocked if he bowed out of the tourney and allowed you to rightfully take his place."

Miz: "Exactly. And that is why we at the Dirt Sheet rate the current performance of both members of the New Day a very generous L rating - for LOSERS."

The two put "L" hands over their heads like juvenile idiots, before the camera faded to black and cut back to the ring.

Randy Orton Vs. Braun Strowman

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Unlike Seth Rollins, "The Viper" Randy Orton made no attempts to goad Braun into getting angry - which Strowman may have expected and prepared himself for. No, Randy was more of a patient fighter. He took his time. Waited to see what his opponent was going to do before striking. This took Braun Strowman a bit off guard as he was expecting a guy like Orton to adopt a similar strategy to the boisterous Rollins.

Orton's slow methodical approach to things meant he was able to keep out of the trap of being caught by the much stronger man. That isn't to say it was an easy fight. Braun himself wasn't exactly trying to rush things, leading to few opportunities for any RKO's out of nowhere. Seeing his original plan was going to work, Orton grabbed a chair and slid it into the ring. Braun grabbed it, clearly unwilling to simply let Orton hit him with it. The ref noticed the chair and pulled it out of Braun's grasp moving to the corner to throw it out while Braun looked at him trying to argue that he didn't bring it in to begin with.

Meanwhile while both the ref and Braun were distracted Orton slid into the ring with another chair and quickly rushed at the big man chop blocking him with the chair to force him to his knees. Orton quickly threw his chair out of the ring as the ref turned around before moving to the corner staring directly at the doubled over bigger man.

Suddenly Orton rushed forward and punted Braun directly in the side of the temple laying him completely out cold. He pinned the man and got the victory. Orton quickly departed backstage as some referees helped the very clearly dazed Strowman back to the dressing room.

Winner: Randy Orton in 9:56 via pinfall (Punt) 67%

AJ Styles Vs. Daniel Bryan

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

As the first, and probably the more subdued, of two A-Block matches continuing from the brawl on Friday after tag team competition, Daniel Bryan stepped into the ring with the "Phenomenal" AJ Styles. This was a back and forth match mixing the styles of high flying with technical. At first it appeared like AJ Styles was going to get the upper hand, but Bryan simply refused to stay down.

Still unlike some of the other contests tonight, Styles didn't resort to underhanded tactics. He wanted to beat one of the best wrestlers in the company at his own game to show that there was no one better than AJ Styles. For over ten minutes the two went full ball showing no quarter to the other until finally Daniel Bryan caught AJ with a Knee Plus to get the pinfall victory

Winner: Daniel Bryan in 14:45 via pinfall (Knee Plus) 56%

Kevin Owens Vs. The Fiend

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Finally we come to our main event for the evening, as "The Prizefighter" Kevin Owens stood across the ring from Bray Wyatt. Unfortunately for Owens, tonight he stood across Wyatt's far more dangerous alter ego The Fiend. However, Owens showed no fear. He went right after the man grabbing his neck and delivering punch, after punch, after punch. Amazingly it seemed like Wyatt shrugged it off as if he didn't feel a thing! This continued with Owens hitting him with a variety of heavy hitting moves that would normally put a man down, only for Bray to keep coming as if it was a scene out of a horror movie.

Eventually Wyatt started to take control of the match and began wearing Owens down with a series of high impact moves himself. Owens attempted to fight back as best as he could, but soon he found himself trapped in Bray's mandible claw. Fans watched as the life seemingly sapped from Owen's face. Wyatt was not satisfied, however, and soon picked the man up by the head threatening to snap his neck. The referee yelled for him to stop, turning to try to call out some more referees to get in the middle of this before it went too far.

5uC72hb.jpg

Suddenly out of nowhere from off camera Daniel Bryan ran into the shot delivering Knee Plus directly into Bray's face! This stunned the monster long enough to Owens to roll away from the two for a moment. Bryan ran at Wyatt with a flying clothesline but Bray caught him and immediately spiked him down with Sister Abigail before kicking Bryan's now lifeless corpse out of the ring.

Wyatt rolled out of the ring so he could hurt Bryan further when suddenly Owens steamrolled into him from around the corner of the ring! Owens reacted quickly grabbing Wyatt by the head and powerbombing him into the ring apron. This time he wasn't about to just walk away and let the monster recover. He picked Wyatt up and delivered a SECOND apron powerbomb before rolling Wyatt into the ring - following soon after.

Owen grabbed Wyatt by the head and picked him up. He mouthed something about himself being the real monster before kicking Wyatt in the gut, and quickly laying him out with the Stunner! He pinned Wyatt, pulling him back with everything he had until the ref counted one ... two ... and three! Kevin Owens had done it! He had defeated the invincible fiend and finally got himself on the scoreboard!

The lights suddenly went out for a moment, as Bryan rolled back into the ring. When they came back on only Owens, and Bryan were left. Taking it as a victory Bryan raised Owen's hand. At least for one night they made sure Wyatt's evil was not going to taint this tourney.

Winner: Kevin Owens in 15:15 via pinfall (Stunner) 60%

As the credit graphic for the show appeared in the corner of the screen we cut away from the in ring celebration to where The Undertaker was mounting his motorcycle in the parking lot, preparing to hit the road now that the show was over. He revved his bike once, or twice and was just about to drive off when suddenly Brock Lesnar shoulder blocked him clean off his bike!

BhshglL.jpgjb0TsGe.jpg

Brock: "You're gonna make me famous, huh?"

Brock quickly kicked over the bike, and then grabbed Taker so he could scoop him up on his shoulders. A moment later and he had delivered the F-Five directly onto the motorcycle. Taker immediately yelled out in pain and rolled away clutching his ribs while Brock grinned down at him.

Brock: "See you at Extreme Rules. You should be recovered by then."

Brock laughed and walked away. The final shot of the show was a close up of Taker coughing, and clutching his ribs on the ground with the bent mirror on the side of the bike as evidence of the impact of the move.

A trio of pyrotechnics announces WWE SmackDown Live, as we get a series of shots of the crowd going wild. Newfound excitement has been brewing with the development of this new WWE. Speaking of new developments, none other than WWE owner Triple H currently stood in the ring. In one hand he held a microphone. In the other? A purple bag roughly the shape of a championship title. It would appear that in addition to what had already been announced concerning the championships in the company, Hunter had one more surprise up his sleeve.

nj74FZX.jpg

Triple H: "Welcome everyone, to another exciting episode of SmackDown Live!" A brief pause for cheers. "Now, I understand that with everything going on we are in a bit of a work in progress, and quite frankly it is still going to be a couple of weeks before we have assigned our top championships to a worthy champion. So I got to thinking. These big time championships are often regulated to pay-per-view events, right? But here's the thing ... the vast majority of WWE content you all enjoy happens on television. So with that in mind..."

Hunter opened the bag and soon held up a brand new championship belt. He gave it a moment for the initial burst of cheers for a big new announcement to subside, as well as giving commentary some time to up sell it before he continued.

Triple H: "The WWE Television Championship! Now, this belt is going to be a little different than the other four. While the other titles signify the top man, woman, and team in their respective division this championship heralds opportunity. This championship, starting THIS MONDAY will be defended every single episode of Monday Night RAW. Furthermore after a champion is crowned the challenger every week will not be announced. This is because every week it will be first come first serve. Every week will be an open challenge. This is a bit outside of the WWE's usual wheelhouse, as is my next announcement for this belt - this is not a gendered championship. What I mean by that is if I'm standing in this ring as champion I could find myself face to face with Brock Lesnar ...or I could find myself face to face with Nia Jax."

Commentary quickly deep dove into the many, many possibilities with both the male, and female rosters available for this championship. Suddenly one of the main reasons for ending the brand split was becoming obvious.

Triple H: "Oh, and there's one more thing related to these open challenges. So we call ourselves WORLD Wrestling Entertainment but under Vince's followship, WWE didn't often live true to that. So in the interest of opening the flood gates to give this company a larger reach of credibility I will be allowing those not signed with the WWE to compete for this championship. Independent. New Japan. Ring of Honor. Hell, I don't care if Cody calls me from his AEW branded phone and says he wants in for one night only. When I say that any person holding this championship has to prepare for anything I mean it. This is what is best for business, and it starts this Monday. So if any of you backstage want to step up to the plate my door is open. You just better be ready for war, because to hold this belt is to be at war week in and week out. I look forward to see who makes this their own. Thank you."

HHH's theme begins to ring throughout the PA system, as Hunter once more holds the championship up for the usual photo op. Soon the show cut to commercial so that SmackDown proper could begin.

Jeff Hardy Vs. Jey Uso

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

In a match that both men needed to win, and neither could afford to lose we saw two fan favorites in Jeff Hardy, and Jey Uso. Neither man had a single point to call their own thus far in the tourney, but in spite of this they kept things professional, rather than breaking down into underhanded tactics. The primarily tag team performer, Uso, gave it his all to keep up with the former WWE Champion, but unfortunately Hardy's singles experience allowed him just enough of an edge to put Uso away with a Swanton Bomb for the three count. Perhaps Uso would have his day before the end of this tourney, but it didn't look like becoming the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion was on the horizon for him.

Winner: Jeff Hardy in 10:03 via pinfall (Swanton Bomb) 49%

We soon cut up to the Titan Tron where the opening jingle for Bray Wyatt's Firefly Funhouse was starting. It would be interesting to see how Wyatt took to being defeated thanks to the defacto alliance between Kevin Owens, and Daniel Bryan. Perhaps a necessary alliance considering the amount of punishment The Fiend was capable of absorbing. Curiously, as Wyatt opened the door and entered the set he seemed relatively unphased by it. He was smiling, and waving as per usual.

MltYpp0.jpg

Wyatt: "Hi kids! Wasn't last week fun? My special friend always enjoys when people get desperate ...to bring more people into the game! Unfortunately, this game is supposed to only be for two people. Naughty naughty Kevin! Naughty naughty Bryan! You leave me with no choice but to stop playing with you for now." The children boo, causing Wyatt to chuckle a little. "It's ok kids! Because this Monday we get to play with a new friend. His name is Andrade. I like Andrade because he's very relaxed." Wyatt picks up a photo of Andrade doing his lounging against the ropes pose. "But sometimes children when you're not trying your best ...bad things can happen to you. So you are going to try your best, right Andrade?" Wyatt's eyes narrowed toward the camera, his voice becoming more serious for a moment before returning to it's normal goofy nature. "Because if you think of all the fun we'll be missing out on! See you Monday!"

Wyatt would wave to the camera, a big obnoxious smile on his face. It seemed as if he would neglected to go after Owens, and Bryan for now. There were more important matters at hand, and he couldn't risk having others trying to prevent him from winning matches. But he never said ...he was finished with them.

Kofi Kingston Vs. King Corbin

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

The former WWE Champion, and New Day Member, Kofi Kingston came into this match taking it somewhat seriously - but still with that slight hint of caring more about being entertaining than getting the job done. King Corbin, on the other hand, brought his natural arrogance. The both of them constantly left themselves open for counter attacks, which ironically prolonged the duration of the contest.

The edge Corbin eventually held over Kofi was a willingness to be a bit more brutal, and devious, than his counterpart. He pulled a pair of brass knuckles out of his pants and intentionally let the ref catch him so the ref would take them away and walk off to throw them out of the ring. He would then take out a second pair and deck Kofi, tossing them out of the ring himself soon after. A second later Kofi got laid out with End of Days, and Corbin got the three.

Winner: King Corbin in 13:22 via pinfall (End of Days) 54%

We soon cut backstage, following a brief word from out sponsors, where "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles was backstage waiting to say a few words about his opponent this coming Monday, Kevin Owens.

lB4A43Q.jpg

Styles: "All day people have been asking me... Am I worried about going up against the man who beat The Fiend, Kevin Owens? And all day I've been giving the same answer - No. Are you serious? Hell no. Kevin Owens didn't beat anybody. He got a fluke victory, thanks to his buddy Daniel Bryan. A guy I only lose to because I had some hair in my eye and he got me with that stupid knee of his. Lets look at the facts. Up until that win, Owens hasn't beaten anybody. Me? I'm on the scoreboard. I'm tied for the lead. So I'm going to walk into RAW this Monday and I'm gonna walk out with two more points without even breaking a sweat. Hell, I might beat Owens so fast that maybe I'll consider winning the TV title too. Easy night."

Whether or not AJ was literally taking Kevin Owens lightly, or if he was playing things up to convince himself, or perhaps Owens himself he wasn't going to be at his best remained to be seen.

Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, & Asuka Vs. Daniel Bryan, Braun Strowman, & Shayna Baszler

In an intergender triple threat match intended to provide a mini preview not only for the upcoming WWE Women's Heavyweight Championship match, but also for the upcoming A-Block matches Roman Reigns v. Daniel Bryan, and Drew McIntyre v. Braun Strowman we primarily saw the ladies taking center stage - as one would expect considering their match is as of right now the top billed going forward.

We got just enough of a glimpse of the other two combinations to keep the crowd hungry to see more. While the majority of the match was content to view this as a fair competition, Shayna was looking to make a statement. When the ref wasn't looking she quickly decked Asuka with a closed fist, jabbing her right in the throat right after. She applied with Karifuda Clutch soon after and already struggling to breathe Asuka had no choice but to tap out.

Sami Zayn Vs. Bobby Lashley

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Sami Zayn attempted to use his superior speed to stick and move against the bigger, and far more powerful Lashley. However, as we have seen with several men in this tourney so far - Lashley remembered his time at the top of Impact as champion, as well as his low moments as Lana's husband in the WWE. He was looking to get this status as a top of the card level performer back no matter who he had to go through.

Lashley eventually caught Sami, and quickly got to work systematically tearing him apart before laying him out for the three with his running powerslam.

Winner: Bobby Lashley in 10:07 via pinfall (Running Powerslam) 57%

After a brief commercial break we cut backstage to where Kevin Owens was standing in front of the current point totals for the Wrestling Classic, looking with slight disgust at how poorly he had been doing up until this point. Eventually he turned his glance toward the camera and began to speak.

tgGesja.jpg

Owens: "I have given everything for this business, y'know. For my family I have thrown away friendships. I have put myself in situations where I'm staring across the ring from nutbags like The Fiend. I did these things because I thought I had to. I threw away my friendships with guys like Sami Zayn because I'm a prizefighter and he was the guy that had the biggest payoff standing across the ring from. But eventually I started wondering if that was the only way. I watched footage of the things I once did, and frankly I became disgusted with myself. And so I started to fight men like me. Men like Seth Rollins. Men like Bray Wyatt. Men who would bully, and manipulate their way to getting what they want. Because deep down yeah I want to do whats right for my family, but I want to do it in such a way where my son won't look at me like I'm a monster. ...and AJ Styles? He's one of those people. This Monday I'm going to put him down just like I did Wyatt. Because I need to. Because I can't afford to lose any more. Not one more loss."

Owens stared into the camera for a moment before walking off, and the camera soon faded to black to return to ringside.

While at first John Morrison came into this match simply assuming he was going to get the traditional happy-go-lucky New Day personality from Big E, he was quickly reminded that E was taking things a bit more seriously now, and soon the Shaman of Sexy was forced to get a bit more serious himself.

Morrison attempted to use superior speed to get the edge on his bigger opponent, but years of working with faster partners had caused Big E to work on his speed as well and eventually he caught Morrison and put him away with the Big Ending for the three.

From there the two began to try to out scheme one another, but in the end it was a hidden low blow from Cesaro that allowed him to hit his Neutralizer and pick up the victory.

The Miz Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. The Big Show

WWE Television Championship

When the bell rang the four men stood at separate corners of the ring, waiting to see who was going to strike first. The Miz slowly creeped out of the ring choosing to pick his spot, where as Samoa Joe and The Big Show quickly went right at one another in the center of the ring. Nakamura noticed Miz creeping away and soon gave chase, until he chased the cowardly A-lister back into the ring, and two separate mini-matches within this inaugural Television Championship match could begin.

It wasn't long until strategically it make sense to go after the giant, and a three-on-one attack laid out Big Show, at least for a time. Unfortunately for The Miz, once it was down to three the other two soon turned on him, presumably due to him being annoying, and laid him as well. Joe, and Nakamura engaged in a half technical, half brawl fight until a WMD out of nowhere knocked Nakamura clean out. Once more Joe, and Show battled for supremacy in the center of the ring until Miz returned to the fray with a chop block to the big man.

Try as he might to fight against the Samoan Submission Machine, Miz stood almost no chance and Joe soon dispatched him out of the ring before turning his attentions to a clearly wounded Big Show. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch, and already hurt Show had no choice but to tap out quickly naming Samoa Joe the first ever WWE Television Champion.

Post match, the referee slid out of the ring to grab the WWE Television Championship so it could be handed to Joe, who quickly held it up to a chorus of cheers! The first champion of the new era of the WWE had officially been found. Joe leaned out of the ring and called for a microphone.

fAOEhPs.jpg

Joe: "I am the Samoan Submission Machine! And I am YOUR NEW WWE TELEVISION CHAMPION! ...and don't think for one second that I don't know what holding this gold entails. Every week I'm going to stand right here in the middle of this ring and a mystery challenger is gonna walk down that aisle. Well just know that I'm ready, and I'm prepared to choke out each and every person that steps in my face. If you want this belt, you're gonna have to earn it. Big. Small. Man. Woman. Outsider. I don't care. I'll be waiting."

Joe tossed down the microphone and once more held up the championship to another chorus of cheers, before flopping the belt over his shoulder and strutting his way backstage. The Samoa Joe era had officially begun.

Eliminated members of the WWE Women's Heavyweight Championship tourney find themselves returned to tag team action, as the Boss N' Hug Connection take on the best friend team of Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Cross. Bliss, and Cross attempted to wrestle the match fairly and gave a valiant effort - but Sasha, and Bayley were sadly not being paid by the hour, and through a sequence of distracting the referee, and blatant eye poking Nikki Cross found herself locked in Bankrupt with the three count shortly thereafter.

Winner: Sasha Banks in 9:58 via pinfall (Bankrupt) 48%

We soon cut backstage to where Asuka, and Kairi Sane were discussing something in fluent Japanese. It wasn't too long until the camera caught Shayna Baszler approaching her. The two began talking trash to one another which soon errupted into a shoving match as Alexa Bliss came down the hallway with an ice pack on her neck after the previous match.

It was not long at all until the shoving turned into a full on brawl, with screaming echoing throughout the backstage hallway. Bliss, and Sane quickly got into the fray attempting to push the two away from one another. Eventually officials arrived on the scene to help the two girls keep the fighters away from one another. Asuka and Shayna were ready to explode just a few short days away from their PPV meeting!

Bray Wyatt Vs. Andrade

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

Bray Wyatt was in his more subdued persona this evening, smiling and waving to the fans as Andrade stared at him pretty noticeably uncomfortable. He had seen what the man was capable of, and by no means was this particular contest one he was looking forward to. Still, the tranquillo superstar did his best to try to fight off Wyatt using superior speed.

Unfortunately, while this version of Wyatt was not nearly as impervious to pain as his more sadistic counterpart - the father of the Firefly Funhouse was tough in his own right, and he managed to recover just enough to catch the speedy superstar in his clutches long enough to apply the Manidible Claw! Andrade tried to fight it off, but his strength quickly was sapped and it wasn't long before the referee had to call the submission due to lack of response.

Winner: Bray Wyatt in 15:05 via submission (Mandible Claw) 49%

After a brief commercial break we find ourselves in what looked like an office backstage which had royal banners stapled onto the walls, with a throne on display in the center of them all, where none other than the reigning King of the Ring himself "King" Baron Corbin sat. He had a huge smirk on his face, in spite of what some would call a less than stellar record thus far. It seemed his arrogance was not shaken by the fact he wasn't leading in the points.

tJdaSOi.jpg

Corbin: "The time has come my subjects, for a royal proclamation. I, your King, will step into the ring this Friday night against the lowly squire Sami Zayn. True there are times where a man of Sami's talents can be useful to a man of my obvious superiority, but lets be honest ... look at Sami, and then look at me. That scrawny punk doesn't stand a chance. I am going to step into the ring this week, and I am gonna lay him out with a single punch to the mouth. And then I'll move on to win the entire B-Block, and achieve my birthright of becoming the undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion."

Corbin chuckled to himself, treating all of this as if it was but a foregone conclusion. His losses thus far were merely flukes! But could his majesty live up to his own hype? Time would tell. Lord knows his had the tools to pull it off.

The disgruntled Scotsman stood with narrowed eyes as he peered across the ring at the "Monster Among Men". There was no fear in McIntyre, and why should there be? After all, he was the man that knocked off Brock Lesnar before his championship was stripped from him and retired. He could beat the monsters that plagued this industry. Strowman was big, and yes he was bad - but all he truly had was strength. And if you could overcome strength? The big man had few other tools in his toolbox.

McIntyre had more speed than Braun, and his strength was respectable in it's own right. But moreso than any other virtue he had, there was one that Braun simply could not match: stamina. The two battled neck and neck for several minutes, and Braun began to tire. He began to slow. And that was all Drew needed to deck him in the face with a Claymore and put the giant down. The former champion was not going to be denied what was rightfully his anymore.

Winner: Drew McIntyre in 10:23 via pinfall (Claymore) 55%

Big E was seen walking backstage, looking to go check the match board to see who he was slotted to compete against this Friday on SmackDown, when suddenly Cesaro came out of nowhere and delivered a powerful European Uppercut into the larger man in an attack very similar to the one he initially took out Jeff Hardy with!

Cesaro knew how fired up Big E had been as of late, and the Swiss Superman was not about to just sit there and let himself become yet more fodder for the growing fire in the New Day strongman. Cesaro quickly grabbed Big E and slammed him face, and neck first into the nearby production cases, and Big E tried his best to struggle away from the attack. Cesaro attempted to deliver his Neutralizer to finish the job, but Big E had a bit more strength in him than Hardy did and managed to shove Cesaro away, albeit more weakly than normal.

Cesaro sneered at the fact he was denied putting the man out entirely, but took his leave anyway. Some damage was done, and it may be enough to ensure him the advantage going into their B-Block match. The camera focused on Big E grabbing his jaw, and attempting to shake off the daze as we faded back to ringside.

Randy Orton Vs. Seth Rollins

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

"The Messiah" and "The Viper" finally stood across the ring from one another. This was not the first fellow bender of the rules that Orton had shared the ring with, but Orton was well aware that Seth may be the most dangerous. Specifically, he had one tool that AJ Styles didn't when Orton faced him - Rollins had his disciple at ringside. Buddy Murphy stood silently in Seth's corner as the two engaged in a fairly technical contest.

There was a shade of desperation in Seth's strategy. He was in last place out of his entire block, in spite of being unquestionably one of the main attractions of the company for the past several years. Desperation was not a good place to be against what some would call the greatest villain of the modern era, in Orton. Eventually Orton caught Seth, and delivered his devastating DDT off the ring ropes and began to coil preparing for the RKO.

It was here that Buddy Murphy climbed on the apron and begin yelling toward Orton, causing Randy to turn his glance toward him just for a moment. A momentary distraction, but enough for Seth to quickly school boy Orton, hooking the tights out of the view of the referee for the one, two, and three! Seth had finally earned himself points! The losing streak was over!

Winner: Seth Rollins in 14:41 via pinfall (School Boy) 62%

After a brief commercial break we found ourself in the VIP Lounge where M.V.P. stood alongside Bobby Lashley, murmuring quietly about strategies for his upcoming match on SmackDown. After a moment WWE Interviewer Sarah Schreiber arrived on the scene - but before she could say anything M.V.P. scoffed at her, and held up his hand to stop her in place. Lashley quickly reattached the single purple velvet rope denying her access to where they were.

MVP: "Lady, can't you see we're busy? What do you want?"

Sarah: "Well I--..."

MVP: "I know, I know. You're just like all of those other chumps out there. You want to know what the big man is going to do to Dolph Ziggler this week right? Well listen. We don't need you here for that. I can do your job for you. So get to stepping. Lash? Take care of this."

Lashley narrowed his eyes down at Sarah, and rolled his neck for a moment before grabbing her firmly by the arm and dragging her off camera. He returned a second later, with MVP smirking as he watched the interaction.

MVP: "People, it's simple. Bobby Lashley is going to do the same thing he's been doing this entire tourney this Friday. Dominate. He's undefeated. He was the only man with six points in EITHER block. And you mean to tell me people are QUESTIONING if the guy with a recent injury is gonna be able to beat him? Do you believe this crap Bobby?" Lashley simply shook his head. "Nobody is beating the big man. He is going to be your first WWE World Heavyweight Champion. It's as simple as that. Satisfied? Now take your camera, and get out of my lounge."

MVP waved the camera away and went back to discussing strategy with the big man, as the shot faded back to ringside for the next A-Block Match.

Kevin Owens Vs. AJ Styles

A-Block Wrestling Classic Match

In what felt like a continuation of the struggles originating from the Owens/Bryan vs Fiend/Styles match a few shows ago, we had "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles stepping into the ring with "The Prizefighter" Kevin Owens. With the monkey shaken off his back, and points finally on the board Owens had a bit more confidence going into this contest than he had felt previously in the tourney.

Momentum was on his side, as he took the fight right to Styles. AJ was crafty, but in a straight up brawl he had no response to Owens. Styles attempted to roll out of the ring, and catch a breath - but Kevin managed to catch him and soon continued his attack. AJ managed to get the upper hand a couple of times, but Owens was too hungry to get his score up and eventually managed to put Styles away with the Stunner!

Winner: Kevin Owens in 14:41 via pinfall (Stunner) 68%

We found ourselves backstage once again, in a dark room where the only thing visible was one Paul Heyman who sat upon a stool with a pleased smirk on his face. Why wouldn't he be happy? After all, thus far he had gotten exactly what he wanted out of Triple H. His client was due to debut in a match for a championship, and his opponent? A man who while very capable of getting it done in the ring, had seen his best years already pass him by.

JzaR2FQ.jpg

Heyman: "Ladies, and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman and I wish to be the first to congratulate Rey Mysterio on achieving the accolade of being one of two men to be the first to compete for the WWE Junior Heavyweight Championship THIS SUNDAY at Extreme Rules. I would also like to congratulate him on a very impressive, and sound, victory over Buddy Murphy this week. Rey, it would seem you are on a roll. Unfortunately, I have the dubious task of informing you that your momentum grinds to a halt this Sunday. For you see this Sunday you're not going to be competing against an up and comer who has never truly proven himself in the spotlight. You are going to be competing against a man who quite frankly may be one of the single greatest professional wrestlers to ever live and breathe. Mr. Mysterio, I would not blame you if you chose to forfeit the match in advance to save yourself the humiliation of being completely dominated, and forced to submit in the middle of the ring. My client is going to walk into Extreme Rules, win the WWE Junior Heavyweight Championship - and mark my words Mr. Mysterio, and everybody else listening to me right now - in twenty, if not thirty years from now? He will RETIRE as still the reigning, and defending WWE Junior Heavyweight Champion. And that is NOT a prediction Mr. Mysterio. That is not merely my opinion. That, Mr. Mysterio, is a spoiler."

Heyman formed a sickening grin on his face, as he opened his hand and 'dropped the mic' before walking off camera. A moment later the shot faded back to ringside for the main event of the evening.

Roman Reigns Vs. Daniel Bryan

B-Block Wrestling Classic Match

"The Big Dog" stood across the ring from the "American Dragon". These two had a few run-ins in the past, and the battles were always extremely neck and neck with neither man giving quarter to the other. This contest was no different. Roman was hungry to once again reclaim his position as what was arguably the figurehead of the entire company, the replacement golden goose now that John Cena's time in the company had become more or less part time.

Meanwhile, Daniel Bryan was just as hungry to claw, and scratch his way back to the main event. To reclaim the "yes movement" and crowd support he once had. Back and forth the pendulum swung, we both men seemingly having an answer for everything the other pulled out of their repertoire. This all came to a head when Roman managed to side step an attempt at the Knee Plus, only to turn around and stun Bryan with a well placed Superman Punch. Roman crouched in the corner waiting for Bryan to rise before laying him out with a Spear for the one, two, and three!

Winner: Roman Reigns in 16:14 via pinfall (Spear) 60%

Roman celebrated as the credits for the show appeared in the corner of the screen. He helped Bryan to his feet. The two bumped fists, and Bryan rolled out the ring and made he way up the ramp as Roman looked on, pointing at Bryan to rile the crowd up to give him some applause.

z0pmkVa.jpglB4A43Q.jpg

However, when Roman turned to go back to celebrating his victory he found himself laid out by a Phenomenal Forearm from AJ Styles! Clearly AJ wanted to make a statement with his next opponent after his recent losses. He quickly picked Roman up and put the dot on the explanation point by laying the Big Dog out with a Styles Clash! The last shot of the show was AJ Styles laughing, as he did he hand pose. The two will meet at Extreme Rules.
