Historian
I know they're not going to win -- but man I want The Violent Kind to go deep in the tournament.
willr0ck
It's about two weeks later than expected but finally, we have a show! Before the show: Toma and ADB showed up to the show loaded on painkillers and drunk. They were fined and sent home, which made both if them furious and also messed up a couple of tonights matches. Thanks guys! <div style="padding: 15px; border: 3px solid #000000; margin:10px;background:#32CD32; max-width:50%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";"> GMPW Presents: The Ascension Kickoff Special <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GjXWtEqs8I4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> February, Friday Week 1 Saitama Sports Field, Kanto Japan Attendance: 1,588 Live On Jade 237 Announce Team: Robin Yamazaki and Eisaku Shigeki _____________________________________________________________ As the show kicks off Tadiyuki Kikkawa enters the ring and welcomes all the fans in attendance and the ones watching on PPV at home to the first ever GMPW show! He promises the fans will see the hard hitting style that he made famous. _____________________________________________________________ 2 vs 2 Tag Match (15 min. Time Limit) The Violent Kind vs Local Talent In an incredibly one sided match Dreadnought and Big Boss Emperor squash a couple of local talents. Dreadnought picked up the pin after The Violent Kind hit their Hammer Of Dawn finisher. (Hart Attack clothesline dropped into a power bomb pin) Kikkawas thoughts: This match was a bit of a stinker but TVK needs to get over but they are both very, very green. Having them dominate some local talent while improving was the right call. _____________________________________________________________ 2 vs 2 Tag Match (25 min. Time Limit) Hirogoshi & Miyazaki vs Itou & Hatamoto In a decent match with little heat Hirogoshi & Miyazaki defeated Itou & Hatamoto. The two teams went blow for blow in the beginning of the match with neither team getting the upper hand. Eventually Itou began to tire and the veterans showed their experience by isolating Hatamoto’s leg while Itou recovered. Despite a fine display of fighting spirit, Hatamoto was eventually forced to tap to Miyazaki’s ankle lock. Kikkawas thoughts: Two youngsters paying their dues and learning from two solid veterans. The more time Hatamoto and Itou spend in the ring with experienced talents like Hirogoshi and Miyazaki the brighter their future will be. _____________________________________________________________ <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7H0vzrNUfGU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Bunrakuken Torii slowly approaches the ring. With every step, the fans can feel the intensity in his eyes and facial expressions... He hypes up the upcoming World Heavyweight Title tournament as well as the huge 4 vs 4 tag main event tonight featuring all the competitors. Torri warns the other wrestlers on his team to stay out of his way because tonight victory is his! _____________________________________________________________ 4 vs 4 Tag Match (30 Min. Time Limit) Southern Psychos & Diamond Dogs vs Taku & Toshusai & The Nationalists In a decent match with little heat The Southern Psychos & The Diamond Dogs defeated Toshusai & Taku and The Nationalists. This match had everything, solid wrestling, high flying from the Diamond Dogs and even some good old fashioned brawling. The match was primarily a back and forth affair until Findlay and Harker decided to take the fight outside of the ring. Taking advantage of a distraction on Taku and Toshusai by The Diamond Dogs, Harker and Findlay pick up the win and the pin after hitting Yoshizawa with their Spike Piledriver finisher. Kikkawas thoughts: This was one of the matches meant to showcase the upcoming World Tag Team Tournament. All four teams looked good and it was important for The Diamond Dogs and The Southern Psychos to establish some momentum and hopefully let the crowd get more familiar with both teams. _____________________________________________________________ <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yzf09PYSuhk" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> With rock music blaring, Magnum Kobe makes his way down to the ring. The crowd goes crazy as Kobe shakes and gyrates down the aisle. Sliding into the ring… Kobe hypes up tonight’s main event along with the upcoming tournament. Kobe claims that tonight is a special night as it’s the beginning of the Era Of Kobe! Kobe says he will win the World Heavyweight Tournament and will become the very first world champion because he is the strongest, toughest and most charismatic wrestler in GMPW! _____________________________________________________________ Singles Match (25 Min. Time Limit) Konoe vs Matsumoto In a poor match that was more street fight than wrestling match Konoe defeated the young lion, Matsumoto. While on the offensive Matsumoto looked good but Konoe was just too tough and far too powerful to be defeated. Konoe absorbed punishment early on but once Matsumoto wore down, Konoe finished him off with a Savage Cradle DDT. Kikkawas thoughts: Nothing of note. I knew this one would be hard hitting. _____________________________________________________________ 2 vs 2 Tag Match (15 Min. Time Limit) Black Iron Corps vs Local Talent Black Iron Corps make quick work of two local talents in a throw away match. Nothing else to say really. Kikkawas thoughts: Not much to say, just a chance to get Black Iron Corps on the card after we had two guys get sent home before the show. _____________________________________________________________ Singles Match (30 Min. Time Limit) Laine vs Brave Joffy Laine defeated Akima Brave in an even match that had no heat whatsoever. The match back and forth the entire time, with another man able to get the upper hand. Liane got the win with a quick roll up out of nowhere, much to the surprise of Akima Brave. Kikkawas thoughts: Two guys that faced each other tonight again because we had to send people home before the show started. Laine needed the win more than Brave who is already over in Japan. _____________________________________________________________ Before the main event Kikkawa comes out and reveals the new World Heavyweight Championship belt. _____________________________________________________________ 4 vs 4 Tag Match (45 Min. Time Limit) Kobe, Genji, Sarumura & Tayama vs Torii, Kato, Muruyama & Suzuki In a match that featured great wrestling and great heat the team of Kobe, Genji, Sarumura & Tayama defeated Torii, Kato, Muruyama & Suzuki. Kobe & Torii started the match for their respective teams and it was clear that there was some sort of hostility brewing between the two men as they went after each other relentlessly. With plenty of time available everyone got a chance to shine in this one. Kobe got the win after hitting a Kobe Bomb on Hitomari Suzuki. Kikkawas thoughts: This was the perfect showcase for the upcoming title tournament. What better way to get the crowd excited for a tournament than to put everyone in one big tag match! _____________________________________________________________ After the match Kobe celebrates in the ring while most competitors clear out. Torii remains and the two meet in the center of the ring for a staredown… Suddenly The Nationalists jump Kobe from behind and beat him down, dropping him with The End Of The World! Security and officials from the back come out to help but they are taken out by Tanyu Toshusai and Yoshinaku Taku. All five men then continue laying the boots to Magnum Kobe. Taku and Toshusai hoist Kobe up from the mat and irish whip into an awaiting Torii who decapitates Kobe with a Blazing Elbow… A graphic appears on the screen as all five men stand tall in the ring They all make the crossed guns hand gesture in unison as the show goes off the air. Show Rating: 34 </div>
