USPW 2016: The New King Of Wrestling

Thank you all for clicking on my first ever attempt on a diary...

I've recently been inspired to give this whole thing a go once TheLloyd started his new SWF Dynasty. So to start things off, this save was never meant to become a diary. I also have a TEW YouTube channel, and I never felt I could start a diary while also devoting some of my time to that. So this save was just going to be a small thing where I posted the cards on my discord server, so I have already played two months worth of shows in the save. That means that the diary will begin in March of 2016, and at the end of all of the beginning posts, I will make two posts giving a recap of what happened in the months of January and February.

What Is This Diary?

Great Question. This diary is a Cornellverse diary where I play as Robbie Sanchez, and I am the head booker of United States Pro Wrestling

The save is in the game TEW 2020, but I used the converted 2016 mod from Jaysin (link below). I chose the title because in the 2016 database, USPW has overtaken the long reigning king of Pro Wrestling, SWF. I spent most of my time playing the 2016 database absolutely HATING this company, they would steal all my talent, sign everybody I wanted, and I don't like Alan Packer's moustache. So, for me, this is like turning to the dark side for the very first time. I have never had a serious run with the company before this save, so the most I have experienced with the workers here is after I have poached them, and not often would that have happened. The only thing really separating my save apart is my owner goals. I do not have the actual feature "owner goals" set on in the game, but I have something much better. I asked three of my friends from the discord to give me extra challenges that I must complete in a given amount of time.

The goals fall into three categories...

Pop Goals

Goals where I have to get a certain worker to a higher number of popularity before a set date. If my goal is to get a worker to an average of 70 pop before September 1st 2017, and I get them to 70 pop in April, then the challenge is completed. Their pop does not need to be at 70 on the date, if it happens before hand, I don't have to worry about it anymore

Championship Goals

Championship Goals are similar to pop goals except instead of trying to get a worker to an average popularity, they must win a championship before a set date. (Example: Remmy Skye, USPW Television Championship, Born In The USA 2017 PPV) Just like in the pop goal, the worker in question does not have to be the holder of the championship on the deadline date. Although, knowing my past habit of procrastination, that may end up being the case anyway...

Misc. Goals

As the title implies, these goals don't really have a common thread, so it is very difficult to describe these types of goals without flat out saying them.

But the goals will not be in this post, the goals are listed further down the thread, I want to separate the goals because inherently they may spoil parts of the save in the future. Some people do not care about spoilers, but I am not one of those people. At the very top of the post that has the challenges it will read "The Challenges For The Save (SPOILER WARNING)" if you don't want to be spoiled skip past that post.

If you are interested in reading the diary, below this top post is a constantly changing list of my roster, champions, schedule, and the challenges given to me. Since these will be posts that I will be editing, I once again will issue out a SPOILER WARNING. January Recap

So that second miscellaneous challenge (No hiring any active…) got abused this month. USPW had the minimum number of wrestlers for the game TEW 2016, however, the TEW 2020 minimum number was slightly higher. So, per the rules of the goal itself, I had to sign three active wrestlers and I didn’t fail the challenge. I signed Zoe Ammis, A wrestler who hasn’t debut, and Greg Gauge (who is using the surname “Keith” because Allen Packer thought the audience would get confused on how he was Sam Keith’s son if they had two different last names).

The goal also states that this only applies to active wrestlers, so I was able to do a mass hiring of a bunch of non active wrestlers. I signed Ed Monton, Eric Tyler, and Vin Tanner to do road agent work, Marvin Ernest for Announcing duties, Matthew White and Michael Bull both were hired for refereeing, and I hired Ernie Turner to be “The Best Manager In The Wrestling Business” Ernie Swagger.

Now to see what happened on the 4 episodes of USPW American Wrestling leading to SSS (Stars, Stripes, and Slams!)...

The Angry Everyman:

Rich Money used to constantly make fun of Chris Caulfield for not having nearly as much money as him and supporting the lower class. But Rich became surprisingly quiet when Rich signed a contract that he thought was a sponsorship, but it was a contracted match against Chris Caulfield disguised as a brand deal. With Rich Money having no way to get the match called off, he no-showed the match at the PPV.

(TV Title) The Cowards Title Reign:

One bombshell announcement that was made this month, was Allen Packer appointing Belle Bryden as the GM of USPW. Belle began to lay down the law on things she was not happy with, and she is not happy with Casey Valentine’s Television Title Reign. After four months of Casey dodging title matches, and cheating in the ones he was in, Belle was not having it. Bryden booked a mini tournament where the winner would face Casey on the go home show. The one person Casey did not want to win was the former TV Champ, Andre Jones. Jones ended up making it to the finals where he faced Joss Thompson, Casey tried to screw over Andre Jones in that match, but he messed up and cost Joss the match. In the Jones vs Valentine match, after the ref took a hard fall, Joss ran down and beat up both men. After the carnage, Casey Valentine managed to pull off a lazy cover and retain the belt.

The Best At What I Do:

The “The Best Manager In The Wrestling Business” Ernie Swagger spent his first few weeks watching in the crowd, looking for a client. Then after seeing Greg Keith defeat Mick Muscles, Ernie made Greg his first client. Greg's first match with Ernie as his manager was on SSS 2016, where he defeated Mick’s partner Danny Rushmore, after some extra help.

Straight Jealous:

Speaking of muscles, what was Jumbo Jackson doing in January. Jackson began doing this bit where after every match that he won, Jumbo would pose for the crowd. The fans hated this, and so did Enygma. So, after one of his matches, Enygma laid out Jumbo during one of his poses. Jumbo was convinced that Enygma was jealous of his muscles and challenged him for Stars, Stripes, and Slams 2016; not in a wrestling match, but in a POSE-OFF!!! The pose-off did not go as planned for Jumbo, as the judges (Eric Tyler, Joss Thompson, Roger Cage, and Captain USA) tied the vote. As per rules in the deep history of pose-offs, if the judges tie, then the audience decides who wins. Obviously, the fans cheered louder for Enygma than Jumbo, and Enygma has bested Jumbo at his own game.

(Women's Title) Mentorship:

Tiffany Jade wants her match to regain the women’s championship, so she hires Gorgon as a bodyguard. The goal is for Gorgon to help Tiffany Jade regain the Women’s Championship, by any means necessary. However, Raven Robinson approached Melody to help her out because Raven and Gorgon have crossed paths so many times throughout the years. This led to a womens tag team match at SSS, where Melody pinned Gorgon for the victory. Jade may have not gotten her win, but she wasn’t the one who lost.

(Tag Titles) Not Medically Cleared:

When The Cold Warriors won the titles from Natural Storm in November of 2015, NS were not 100%. On the go-home show for that year’s Thanksgiving Thunder, The Cold Warriors used chairs and their biceps to pillmanize Natural Storm’s legs. Natural Storm took a month off to nurse those injuries and were able to regain the World Tag Team Titles now that they were 100%.

The Numbers Game:

In the weeks building to SSS 2016, USPW viewers saw The Titans continuously trying to beat up The Force. This is all some sort of punishment for The Force after he defeated Tyson Baine at Thanksgiving Thunder 2015. This led to a match between T-Rex and The Force at the go home show where The Force managed to defeat T-Rex clean, which greatly angered Tyson Baine. Force evaded a beatdown, and challenged the Titans to a tag match at SSS, The Titans vs The Force and a mystery partner. This mystery partner turned out to be James Justice, and the match ended when Justice pinned T-Rex for the W. Tyson Baine was once again pissed at his long-time tag partner, and didn’t even wait for him to get to his feet before walking to the back alone.

(National Title) Dodging The Law:

After Shaffer upset Rick Law for the National Championship, he has been evading a rematch with Rick ever since. Since there was no real authority on USPW, he was able to do this very easily. But now that Belle Bryden has become the GM of USPW, she has forced Shaffer to give Law his rematch on SSS! But lightning struck twice for Trent Shaffer, and he picked up the victory in the rematch after using the ropes for leverage.

And Finally...

(World Title) Raising The Steaks:

Nicky Champion has already faced Steve Frehley two times for the World Championship, and both matches ended in some sort of shenanigans. However, the new GM Belle Bryden told Champion that he would need to add something on his end. So Champion told Frehley that if he loses the title match on Stars, Stripes, and Slams, he is not allowed to fight for the World Championship as long as Steve Frehley holds it. The match at SSS was an absolute classic, with Nicky Champion not holding any punches back. The match eventually spilled to the outside with Nicky Champion taking full control. Nicky must’ve lost track of time because he was beating on Steve on the outside before realizing the count was already at 8! Champion tried to throw Frehley back into the ring, but Steve hit Nicky with a low-blow in a blind spot of the referee’s vision. Frehley managed to roll into the ring, and Champion lost the match via count out. Frehley took his title and ran up the ramp, stopping at the top of the stage to throw salt into the wound of Nicky Champion

February Recap

Much like in January, I found another two loopholes in that second miscellaneous challenge (No hiring any active…). This happened because Charlie Thatcher went down with an injury, and without him being listed as an active wrestler, I was once again under the minimum workers. Thanks to Thatcher’s injury, I was able to sign Roger Cage. Technically this all happened in January and he made his debut as one of the Pose-Off judges on SSS 2016, but it happened in week 4 so I just left it out of the January recap. Then Petr Novak tested positive for steroids for the fourth week in a row, so I decided to suspend him. This does not break miscellaneous challenge #1 because all that says is that I can't fire a worker for steroid abuse, but I can suspend them. Since Petr was serving a suspension, he also did not count as an active wrestler, so I was once again under the minimum workers. I decided to pick up Bulldozer Brandon Smith, and you will soon read about how I used him.

No other events worth noting happened in the month of February, so let's just get into the feuds that helped build the Pay-Per-View, USPW Red, White, & Blue!

Now What?:

Nicky Champion may have only lost the match to Steve by count out, but that is still a loss, and Nicky can no longer challenge Frehley for the championship. Not knowing what the future holds for him, Champion tries to cut an emotional promo but is interrupted by Roger Cage. Cage cuts a harsh promo on the megastar by attacking his character, and his tendency to be a gatekeeper. This all leads to a match between the two at RW&B (Red, White, & Blue!) that saw Nicky Champion pull out the victory.

(National Title) Bitter Cop:

After defeating Rick Law for the second time, Trent Shaffer felt that he was next in line for Steve Frehley’s USPW World Title. Unfortunately for Trent, he would lose the number one contenders match, but the big event was what proceeded after the bell. Rick Law stormed to the ring with a steel mallet, and began to beat down Trent until Dawn Gemmell forcibly pried the hammer out of Law’s hands. The following week, Dawn tries to reason with Rick Law in a heated argument that saw Dawn quit as Rick’s manager. At one of his lowest points in his career, Trent Shaffer would meet up with Rick backstage with the sole purpose to piss him off. Shaffer did an amazing job at doing this, as the segment ended with all four referees barely being able to pry Rick Law off of Trent Shaffer. With no one to face him at RW&B, Shaffer took the night off but made a cameo to announce a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal on the next American Wrestling.

(TV Title) The Cowards Title Reign:

After the complete mess that was the Television Title tournament, Casey Valentine thinks that he has escaped uscathed. But both Andre Jones AND Joss Thompson are still fuming at the seams, and both aren’t giving up on the chase. Belle Bryden then booked a triple threat match for the belt on the Week 3 edition of American Wrestling, where we saw Joss Thompson claim the belt after pinning the champion. The following week, Andre Jones brought up the point that he has still yet to be pinned clean.

The Best At What I Do:

Despite signing the hottest free agent in the entire wrestling scene, Greg Keith, Ernie Swagger still wants to expand his brand. In a match between Dusty Ducont and Julius Moor, Ernie made a surprise appearance to cost Julius Moor the match and give Dusty his first win in 2020. Elizabeth Cartier would confront Dusty the next week asking where she would fit in the plans, and Dusty replied “You don’t” then proceeded to fire her before signing with Ernie Swagger. All was going according to plan for Ernie Swagger, until Captain USA made an appearance on USPW Television to introduce his successor, American Patriot (Bulldozer Brandon Smith). Feeling like the USPW Legend was trying to upstage him, he had Keith jump Patriot and Captain USA, leaving them in pain and on the ground.

Straight Jealous:

Furious that the USPW audience absolutely botched the prestigious pose-off, Jumbo Jackson would beat down Enygma until Enygma accepted to face him in a one on one match at Red, White, & Blue! 2016. In the build to the match, Enygma would say that this match may be one of Enygma’s most important matches in recent memory. Not because he cares about the judging of the pose-off, but because he feels that in recent years he has lost his way. Enygma feels that ever since his USPW World Title reign, his career has been going on a downward spiral, and he needs to defeat Jumbo Jackson in order to prevent the decline from continuing. Unfortunately, Enygma can’t defeat Jumbo at Red, White, & Blue, falling to the Jumbo Avalanche after 16 and a half minutes. Following the match, Jumbo says that he has proved to the world, and more importantly, the USPW higher ups that he deserves more.

(Women's Title) The End Is Near:

Despite losing the tag match against Raven Robinson and Melody, Tiffany Jade was not the one pinned; she managed to get herself into a number one contenders match against Robinson, where she cheated to win. The following week, an anonymous woman made an announcement to Melody over the speakers. The voice said that Melody’s time as the Women’s Champion is coming up. Melody confronted Jade about the announcement, but Tiffany proved that she had nothing to do with it. When it came time for Melody to defend her title against Tiffany Jade at Red, White & Blue, the anonymous voice made her first appearance during the match. The woman was hearing a black hoot with a matching bandana to cover her mouth and nose. She would run in to cost Melody the match and have Tiffany Jade regain the belt for the second time in her career. After the match, the woman revealed herself to be… Zoe Ammis!

(Tag Title) Titanic Storm:

After their victory at SSS to regain the Tag Team Titles, Natural Storm didn’t even get a break. The Titans made their push for the belts, after ambushing the champs after a match. Tyson Baine went on to defeat Eddie Howard in a singles match but had a huge advantage thanks to the help of T-Rex on the ringside. Natural Storm then made the announcement that their underhanded tactics would not be able to work because they have their own insurance policy. On RW&B, Natural Storm revealed that their insurance policy was their new manager, Dawn Gemmell. Dawn was able to prevent Baine and T-Rex from cheating in any way, Natural Storm were able to pull out the victory after Howard pinned T-Rex. Once again, Tyson Baine was furious with his partner, before storming to the back and not even checking in on his partner.

The Angry Everyman:

The USPW General Manager, Belle Bryden, was furious with Rich Money after he decided to just no-show his singles match against Chris Caulfield. Belle makes the decision to indefinitely suspend the former USPW World Champion, but Chris Caulfield tells Belle that he doesn’t want Money to be suspended so he can see him face to face. The following week, Bryden lifts Rich Money’s suspension but then books an Extreme Rules Match for RW&B. Next time Belle sees Money, she tells him that if he does not show up to this match, he will be fired and blacklisted from USPW. Seeing no way out of this match, Rich Money shows up to the PPV to take a hellacious beating from Caulfield, and eventually lose the PPV match.

And Finally...

(World Title) An Absolute InJUSTICE:

Fresh off their tag match victory against The TItans, Justice With Force (James Justice & The Force) has risen up the World Title rankings and challenged Steve Frehley for the belt. James Justice would go on to beat Trent Shaffer in a #1 Contenders Match, James and his partner would spend the next week mocking the World Champion while he wasn’t in the building. Justice With Force thought the bit was hilarious, but Steve Frehley was absolutely furious. The following week, we saw Steve Frehley smash The Force’s head with a car door in the parking garage. James Justice spent the entire next show trying to give Steve the JUSTICE he deserved. He hired Rick Law to face Steve Frehley in the main event, then hopefully apprehend the criminal. Rick wasn’t concerned about the whole situation, he just saw it as an opportunity to rise up the Title rankings, and face Trent Shaffer one last time. However, Steve would end up defeating Rick in the match, looking stronger than ever going into the title match. The Force wasn’t at ringside for the World Title match, so no one was there to stop Steve from “accidentally” taking out the referee and using a foreign object to get the tainted victory. But Steve wasn’t done with that object, Frehley continued to beat down on James Justice with the weapon. He didn’t stop until The Force, who was visibly seething in pain still, ran down with a steel chair to run him off. We ended the PPV with Steve Frehley once again escaping up the ramp, and once again posing with the belt.

American Patriot rushes to the ring and chases them off of Freddie Datsun, even managing to land a punch on Dusty. But Patriot doesn't stop there, he sees that the two are trying to escape through the crowd and Patriot chases after them. American Patriot grabs a replica belt from one of the fans in attendance and manages to clock Greg Keith in the head with it. Unfortunately, this doesn't low either man down; the two run up the arena stairs and escape through one of the entrances to the seats. Then once the match officially begins, Rick Law fights like there is no tomorrow. Law is white hot when the match begins managing to eliminate the first three competitors. Tribal Warrior is the first one to go by the hands of Rick Law, the Julius Moor is dumped out immediately after when Rick stops him trying to catch Law off guard. Once Atlas is dumped out, Jumbo Jackson realizes the impending trouble, Jumbo quickly gets Casey and Dusty to form a short alliance to prevent Rick from getting anymore eliminations. The three heels manage to get Rick Law into a corner and repeatedly stomp him down until he is no longer able to get up. Dusty Ducont takes a quick break from the stomping, but in doing so, leaves himself wide open for American Patriot to take advantage and eliminate his rival. The other two men in this alliance realize what just happened to Dusty and begin to attack American Patriot 2 on 1. They get a good 14 seconds of beatdown on Patriot until Running Wolf comes in to try and save Patriot. After about 30 seconds, Jumbo manages to get Running Wolf in a very unfavorable position but just cant seem to eliminate him. Eventually, Casey Valentine steps in to try and help Jumbo. Once Wolf is eliminated, it looks as if every man left is going to win this match. We get to a point where American Patriot has the most advantage but is distracted when Ernie Swagger rushes to the apron. The manager distracts Patriot for a few seconds and when Patriot turns around he is clocked in the head by Greg Keith with a replica belt of his own. Jumbo Jackson notices what just happened, and easily eliminates American Patriot. Now that we are down to the final four, Rick Law finally gets back up and manages to hit each of the four remaining wrestlers with his finisher, Long Arm Of The Law (Clothesline From Hell). He hits Caulfield with the nastiest Long Arm, and the impact was so nasty that Chris was launched out of the ring. After he hit Caulfield with the final Long Arm Of The Law, he takes a moment to stare down Trent once again. This time Shaffer was furious, and when Rick turned his back, Shaffer grabbed onto his foot from the outside. The grab managed to trip Rick Law and when he got back up, we was caught with a clothesline over the top rope by Jumbo Jackson. The millisecond that Rick Law's feet touched the floor, Trent booked it backstage without Law even noticing. Rick then pointed at Jumbo and looked to try and reenter the ring. With the ring fully empty for the exception of Jumbo and Casey, the two men shook each other's hand, as a thank you for the help in the alliance. The two looked ready to go at it, when Chris Caulfield began to reenter the ring. Both Casey and Jumbo turned to the Hardcore American, before rushing to where he was entering. However, Chris brought two steel chairs with him and he got a few good hits on the two before they managed to take advantage with the numbers game. After about 30 seconds of beatdown, Chris Caulfield began to help himself up using the ropes. Jumbo held Casey back before attempting to eliminate him the same way he eliminated Rick Law. But Chris Caulfield pulls down the top rope and Jumbo Jackson goes flying over, Jumbo Jackson gets eliminated! Chris Caulfield looked to have his wits about him when Valentine smashes him in the head with a steel chair. Casey turns his back to pose to the crowd, not realizing that all this chair shot did was put gasoline on the fire. Caulfield gets up and the second that Casey turns around, he is caught with Chris' finisher, The Danger Drop (Dreamer Driver). After two thirds of this matchup, Joss is getting increasingly frustrated with how much The Force is kicking out. After one too many false falls, Thompson resorts to cheating. Thompson tries to pin The Force with his feet on the ropes, but the ref manages to stop his count at 2.9 after he sees this. This event fires The Force up and for the last 3 and a half minutes, Force is unstoppable. But for the good majority of this match, Frehley does everything in his power to avoid The Force. Anytime Force was the legal man, Steve would either not be the legal man, or manage to illegally tag out. Things were going great for Steve, but this meant that Joss Thompson was having a substantial amount more time as the legal man than Steve. It all came to a head when The Force tagged in and Steve tried to tag out but Thompson was too worn out to even stand on the apron. The crowd went absolutely crazy for the next 3 minutes as The Force got to beat down on Steve Frehley with no restrictions. Eventually, Joss ran into the ring, when he was NOT the legal man, causing a huge commotion. Andre Jones tried to enter the ring to even the odds, creating an officiating nightmare for referee Baby Jamie. Jamie was too busy dealing with the situation between Andre Jones and Joss Thompson, that he totally missed Steve Frehley smash a chair onto the back of The Force. Once Frehley cheated to gain an advantage, Joss quickly went back to his position on the apron, then was able to tag in and hit the Clean Cutter on The Force.
