SWF North American Championship Match

Angry Gilmore vs. Lenny Brown ©

Duane Fry: And both men are down after a double clothesline. And the crowd are rallying behind both men here. Despite Gilmore's behavior the fact that his career is on the line in this match seems to have turned the crowd 50/50 for both athletes.

Ana Garcia: Finally these idiots are realizing what an asset Angry Gilmore is here in SWF.

Emma Chase: Nobody doubts Angry Gilmore's skills, it's his behavior that had turned the fans against him, but nobody wants to see Gilmore lose his career here in this career versus title match. Well apart from probably Lenny Brown.

DF: Well now both men are getting back to their feet. And are exchanging rights.

As the two men in the ring exchange fists and the crowd go back and forth chanting for both superstars, Brown starts to get the better of the exchange. But then Gilmore with everything on the line goes for an Anger Management.

DF: Gilmore going for another Anger Management..................................but Lenny Brown reverses into a Star Treatme......................no.............back into an Anger Management. Lenny is down.

Gilmore looks like he's going for the pin, but then stops himself and heads to the top rope.

AG: Gilmore's going for the exclamation point with a Sky High Elbow.

EC: Risky but if he hits it, this has to be over.

Gilmore reaches the top rope and stands tall, then in what seems to be a surprise to those in the booth, Gilmore flips the bird at the SWF logo above their videotron.

DF: A sign of contentment to the higher ups there.............maybe because he had to put his career on the line for this match.

Despite Duane Fry's professionalism something suddenly seems different. The rabid fans in attendance latch onto the gesture from Angry Gilmore as he leaps into the air and hits the Sky High Elbow. The crowd cheer before counting with the referee.

3!!!!!!!

The crowd become unglued as the bell rings and Gilmore rolls off of Lenny Brown as the referee goes over to get the North American Title belt.

AG: He's done it. Angry Gilmore is the North American Champion for the fourth time.

EC: With his career on the line, he's done it. His first reign coming in 2002 and his fourth reign 17 years later in 2019.

The referee hands Angry Gilmore the title belt which he slings over his shoulder. Lenny Brown rolls out of the ring as Angry Gilmore gets his hands raised by the referee and then goes over to grab a microphone but suddenly static takes over the video tron and the live PPV feed going to 2 million plus homes across the world. A digitally disguised voice cuts through the static.

"Congratulations Angry Gilmore. Now the target is on your back."

The static continues for a few more seconds before cutting back to Angry Gilmore standing in the ring with his title looking at the videotron. The crowd are now more silent, as if they expect something to happen. Gilmore however laughs and then takes the North American title from his shoulder..................

DF: He's just thrown the title out of the ring?

EC: What's he doing?

Gilmore still in the ring brings the microphone to his mouth.

AG: IT'S BEEN YOUR PLEASURE!!!!!

And with that said, he slides out of the ring and heads to the back, leaving a crowd confused as well as a commentary booth.

OOC:

So hello there, long time lurker, and long time TEW player here, who has tried numerous times to write a diary either with TEW or Wrestling Spirit but has often not really got a story off the ground. Massive part of this I feel is down to the fact that the weekly grind of writing a whole show is just something that I soon loose interest in.

So I'm going to try something a bit different.

This is going to be written more like a documentary on storylines that I run in TCW. I find the appear of focusing on one storyline much more intersting than trying to write and book numerous ones. This way I can focus on the story I'm really intrigued to tell. And then if anything else interesting comes out, I can do other Chronicle series type posts.

So this won't be your standard diary but hopefully, it will be entertaining none the less.

J-Ro: 2020 saw a turn around in the fortune of TCW. Turning away from Tradition and dropping the Championship for Combat, the expansion into Canada and Mexico, the formation of Next Level Pro Wrestling as the feeder league for Total Combat Wrestling and a two night cross promotion even with Burning Hammer, it’s fair to say TCW put their foot down on the accelerator and didn’t take it off.

*A Clip of Heihachiro Sakai holding the TCW World Heavyweight Title flashes across the screen after numerous clips of shows in Mexico and Canada and some of the standouts of NLPW.

J-Ro: But easily one of the biggest parts of TCW’s success in 2020 was the arrival of Riddick Jordan on the booking team and the arrival of Glory or Death at Malice in Wonderland and the story that followed. We are joined by Riddick Jordan, Tom Gilmore, Ricky Dale Johnson and Sammy Bach to talk through the twists and turns of the period dominated by the Glory or Death stable and the success it brought to TCW. Welcome gentleman.

HZCvGLl.jpegP5wgeS3.jpglQ0nnvE.jpgeNQSU68.jpeg

*A quick exchange of greetings are given.

Riddick: Still baffling to me how I’m sitting here amongst these three to be fair.

J-Ro: Well to be fair without you, this panel could have been very different and who knows how successful the whole story would have been. So if you could, just talk us through how you came to the company at the beginning of 2020 and how you got put on the creative team.

*Some backstage footage is seen of trials at TCW’s School of Pro Wrestling created by Tommy Cornell. Amongst the footage is Riddick Jordan impressing with Kyle Rhodes, Brent Hill and Joel Bryant either watching or taking the trialists through their paces.

Riddick: Well, I’d been plying my trade in the UK for awhile, having graduated from the ROF Dojo back in 2011. I was part of a decent tag team with my brother Alton Vicious. But when you become a pro-wrestler, you dream of the big stage. So when I got the call to trial for TCW, the place where Tommy Cornell made his name, you don’t turn that down. So I flew out and I obviously did enough to get noticed and get an offer from Kyle. But when I sat down with him to discuss my contract, he was interested in discussing not just the financials, but a promo I had cut during my trial, around the concept of Glory or Death.

*A new clip of Riddick’s promo during the trial shows.

“I don’t think you understand Frankie Perez, exactly what this means to me. You spoke about helping put CZCW on the map, wrestling in Japan for a company ran by the Yakuza, watching others get the opportunities in the big leagues before you. You sung your song of sorrow and disappointment. But you have nothing to be sad about. And this shows me your mindset. You’re a defeatist. Moaning and complaining about how you haven’t had your shot. My song is different. I’ve grinded for this one shot, this one opportunity. I’ve not had my shot in Japan. I was born and bred fighting hardcore crazy lunatics in Scotland. And now I’ve got my shot, I’m taking it, not looking back and you won’t hear no song of sorrow from me. Bred by the mantra Glory or Death, TCW will bask in my Glory because you’ll have to kill me to stop me.”

J-Ro: So the stable came from that promo?

Riddick: I’d say the concept behind the stable yes, but the pieces were already in place. Tom had already signed with TCW and his debut was being planned for Malice in Wonderland when his non-compete clause ended.

Tom: I believe before this all went down the name behind the group was Revolution. I wasn’t overly fond of the name but to be fair, any chance to spearhead a story and get my shot at main eventing again I was on board with.

Riddick: Yeah, I heard Revolution and Evolve were both thrown around. So Kyle told me about Tom signing and how he’d be a big part of a stable coming into to take what they felt they deserved in the TCW Promotion. And Kyle asked me how I’d book it. So I told him. And it started with utilizing social media to continue the hype that Tom’s actions at his final SWF appearance had stirred up.

Casey Valentine's MeTV Channel

Outside USPW's Born In The USA

HAcmGxr.jpg

The Valentine View

y8CWA1R.jpg

After a short intro showing Valentine behind the scenes at shows and traveling the country, the video starts with a shot of Valentine outside the stadium that Born In The USA was being held at, but the stadium was far enough off into the distance that it was away from any crowds. It seemed like the event, or an event was currently happening. Valentine was sitting on a wall, the camera shot just slightly above him to get the stadium into view. Wearing a leather jacket, blue jeans and his trademark shades, he had a smirk with an air of arrogance exuding from him.

Casey Valentine: 6 Years the Cool Hand Casey Valentine has plied his trade in Unsited States Pro Wrestling. And what do I have to show for it? 3x USPW Television title holder. The Television Title!!! That's it.

Casey shakes his head before gesturing to himself with his hands.

CV: I was saddled with my uncle whilst the same old "VETS" held onto the World Title scene. And then finally when it seemed like they were going to be sent off to pasture, in come the SWF Boys. Forget the fact that I am as good in the ring as them, as charasmatic as them and most definately the best looking, I get to wallow away in the midcard. And I'm meant to sit there and like it. Meanwhile a guy that joined the company around the same time as me is being line up for a push just because he's a heavyweight and I'm not. Yet I could wrestle rings around Running Wolf with a hand tied behind my back. But he's big and fits their "idea" of what a USPW superstar should look like.

Casey takes a t-shirt from his leather jacket pocket and unfolds it. He reveals it and it's a USPW logo'd t-shirt.

CV: Six years I've given to them and they've given me nothing.Well I'm not being taken advantage of anymore.

Casey throws the shirt on the floor as the camera pans down to it. Casey is no longer in shot but you can hear his movement.

CV: United States Pro Wrestling....................

A liquid falls from the top of the shot onto the USPW Logo'd t-shirt. Then it stops and a match is lit.

CV: IT'S BEEN YOUR PLEASURE!!!!!!

And with the sentence finished, he drops the match onto the t-shirt and it goes up in flames and starts to burn, as the USPW Logo eventually becomes unrecognisable and the shot fades to The Valentine View's end screen.

“…must have been my age, I didn’t understand stuff like MeTV, but in the right demographic Casey Valentines online video got massive coverage…”

“…Gilmore and Valentine were for a few months the most talked about free agents in the game…”

“…I couldn’t have booked it better myself. And Gilmore and Valentine were both great free agents because they could go anywhere. Casey had the name Valentine, so he had pedigree. And TA, he could go Canada, Mexico or Japan and fit in straight away. So what happened next wasn’t obvious by any means…”

IDJeCqO.jpg

J-Ro: So Tom, what was the next three months like for you. Your one of the hottest free agents in the game. Casey was too of course. But literally so much wrestling coverage was focused on you and Casey.

*Clips of MeTV wrestling coverage channels talking about Casey and Tom as well as more clips from the Valentine View channel and interviews with the two played.

P5wgeS3.jpg

Tom: Well it’s the busiest I’ve ever been as an unemployed free agent, I can tell you that. Everyone wanted us on their podcasts, including yourself.

*J-Ro smirked with a sparkle in her eye.

J-Ro: I’m not used to being turned down Tom.

Tom: I’m sure your not, but we were under strict orders to only go on certain podcasts and interviews. Probably get us in trouble now but we did not want to go on anyone’s show that might be able to get anything out of us. Unfortunately, you were on that list. But now anyone’s show we did go on will probably not be happy. But you can’t please everyone. Either way, it was mental for November and December. And appearing on Casey’s MeTV channel was a new experience too. But then in January it all died down. Which was good. Christmas and the New Year, people kind of put us to the back of their mind.

RDJ: Important distinction there though. You weren’t forgotten about, Just the buzz died down just enough that when we were ready to strike, it had that shock factor.

Bach: Oh, the shock factor was definitely there. I felt it. It was one of those few moments when you are performing, and you know your involved in something that will be remembered for a long time.

J-Ro: So was it a surprise that the angle went over so well?

Tom: I was hoping for a good reaction, but I’d be lying if I said I expected that sort of reaction.

KR: Valentine………

The announcers say little more as they seem shocked into relative silence as Gilmore and Valentine head towards the ring, both wearing black tops with the initials G.o.D. in bold blood red on them, black jeans and black baseball bats with the same blood red G.o.D. logo across them.

Andrews and Chord start to get to their feet as Gilmore and Valentine reach the ring and surround it on both sides. As Andrews and Chord reach their feet fully they stare at the two men outside the ring. Andrews looking confused but resolute, Chord looking worried but also ready to fight. Gilmore and Valentine step up onto the apron and then step in. Andrews runs at Gilmore and intercepts him as he steps through the ropes, but Chord runs to an empty side of the ring and slides out of the ring, high tailing it out of there, leaving Casey to step in unopposed.

KR: That coward Jay Chord has just left Andrews there to fight off the blood hounds.

Gilmore fights his way into the ring and pushes Andrews away from him, causing Andrews to turn and move towards Valentine who cracks him with the end of his bat. Andrews stumbles back.

JA: Anger Management. Andrews is down.

SD: But they aren’t done. Gilmore is heading to the top. And Valentine is picking Andrews back up……………………DEEP IMPACT by Valentine.

KR: Sky High Elbow from Gilmore. This is too much.

With Aaron Andrews now laid out in the middle of the ring. Valentine and Gilmore stand either side of him having picked up their baseball bats. They cock the bats like they are shotguns and then either side of Andrews point their bats at Andrews prone body as their music kicks back in and the music and PPV feed fade to black.
