AJ Styles vs. Michael Shane

Comments: Not an easy pick as you booked Michael Shane pretty strong, but The New Franchise have some troubles. Plus AJ lost only once and that was at Slammiversary to Sting. He isn't losing on TV without any build

Low-Ki vs. Steve Corino

Comments: I got the pick . Just wanted to point that out. Corino wins here. Ki is a fine wrestler, but Steve Corino will be a star in a short time for you. Maybe some shenanigans, to keep Ki strong.

Danny Doring & Roadkill vs. Sonny Siaki & Samoa Joe

Comments: Joe beat both of them on Xplosion and they even lost to Sandman and Shark Boy. Honestly, i feel sorry for them. But this is predictions. I make another one. Siaki doesn't tag in.

Ray Gonzalez vs. Mike Awesome

Comments: The enforcer of your main-event stable vs some puertorican guy who probably is on a short term contract.

Veronica vs. Emi Sakura

Comments: Because this is set up to make the KO's title match.

Jerry Lynn vs. Kid Kash

Comments: Could see this go either way, but Lynn is a great guy near the top of the X-Disision

Steel Cage Match

Raven & CM Punk vs. The Gathering (Abyss & Brother Julio)

Comments: Not so fast. The Gathering just beat up Sting to stand tall at the end of the PPV. Plus , this is only the beginning of Punk vs Gathering feud. Raven takes the pin.

Grudge Match

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Kanyon

Comments: By DQ. Interference from Ron Killings.

I have 2 questions. Why 2 PPVs a month? And how do you have over 700.000 PPV buyrates and only 570.000 viewers?

I have 2 questions. Why 2 PPVs a month? And how do you have over 700.000 PPV buyrates and only 570.000 viewers?

Inmates Rule is a Lesser PPV in a 1,000 seat venue with Premium ticket pricing. This is my first save on TEW 2020, I'm just experimenting and playing around to see how these things go. The buy rate could be terrible, we'll see. :D

With regards the viewers, it doesn't make much sense. But I signed on for PPV's with DirectTV who are Huge and offered me 15% of the revenue. The smaller providers did offer me more of the share but none of them were willing to give me a better time slot. I figured that even if I got 25% of the revenue on a Big provider, I would get fewer buys than on a Huge provider so it wouldn't make money sense to sign a deal with them anyway.

Meanwhile, my TV is on ESPN who are Medium-sized but I am locked into that deal for another 6 months or so. I signed a 1 year deal to begin with and I think that was a mistake. I'll certainly move to a bigger network when that deal comes up.

So you get less coverage on TV than from PPV broadcast? Not familiar with the game, I read just for the pleasure of it. So ,in this fictional world, we will say that TNA has busy fans who buy only the big shows and Dutch is a hell of a booker. I mean conversion rate TV/PPV buys would be over 100%. Give the man a bonus.

Standard Singles Match

AJ Styles vs. Michael Shane (w/Madison)

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Mike Tenay tells us that after missing out on action in Philly, AJ Styles wanted to wrestle first tonight and was granted his wish. This is a strong opening match and Michael Shane handles his end of the bargain well, using his slight size advantage to good use as he stunts AJ’s initial momentum with a high Back Body Drop. In classic Styles fashion, he lands more on his behind than his back, simply too athletic for his own good. With Shane applying a side headlock, Madison pulls referee Andrew Thomas’s attention away from the action and her hunk pops his feet on the second rope to apply extra leverage.

We begin to go back and forth as Styles comes back with the Phenomenon DDT but gets caught with a Brainbuster and the Picture Perfect Elbow Drop for a close near fall. Trying to close the deal, Shane tries the Sweet Shane Music but AJ ducks underneath the superkick and responds with a kick of his own, the Pele! His subsequent Torture Rack Bomb isn’t enough to score the elusive 3 count but after a Springboard Forearm knocks Shane for six, Styles locks down the victory courtesy of the Styles Clash.

IT’SSSSSSS STIIIIIIIING!

The TNA World Heavyweight Champion is decked in his signature black trenchcoat, holding his title belt in his left hand and his bat in his right hand. Once inside the ring, he puts down the bat close to his feet and takes JB’s microphone to address his rivalry with The Gathering in recent weeks. First of all, he wants to send a shout out to CM Punk. It was good to lock horns and be tested by him, until next time… But maybe the Punker will choose better friends because as Sting knows very well, you cannot trust anybody in TNA Wrestling!

Last week, he took out Northcutt and Bateman and he doesn’t expect we’ll be seeing them any time soon. He’s fine with being prodded, that comes with the territory, but if you push too far he will show you exactly what showtime looks like. At Lockdown, Dustin Rhodes is next. He’s Mitchell’s favourite now, right? Calm and collected, Sting announces that he’s putting his title belt on the line so he can get his hands on ‘The Master’. Dustin thinks he’s got it all figured out but he’s simply playing checkers and ‘The Icon’ is playing chess. Inside four sides of steel, it's a checkmate for The Gathering!

Standard Singles Match

Low-Ki vs. Steve Corino (w/Scott D’Amore)

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

This is Corino’s iMPACT debut and the formidable Low-Ki is far from an easy starter. The ‘Canadian Ace’ spends most of the first half of this match reeling on the back foot, surviving the onslaught of stiff kicks that have become Ki’s trademark. Corino hits a beautiful Leg Lariat but Ki responds with a Roundhouse Kick to the temple. After the ‘Warrior’ hops on the second rope for a Slingshot move, from the outside D’Amore clips his foot and sends him stumbling straight into an STO from Corino. Andrew Thomas admonishes the Coach for his interference but he feigns ignorance, watching as his newest recruit into Team Canada presses his advantage and picks up the victory with his signature Neckbreaker, the Old School Style.

<div style="padding: 20px; border: 2px solid #da251c;border-radius: 25px;margin:15px;background: #dddddd; max-width:100%;";">

A sneaky victory again for Team Canada but results are results and that is why D’Amore has brought in his Ace. As those two have their hand raised by Andrew Thomas, we jump backstage to the Commissioner’s office.

Iv8PqST.jpg

We find Miss Neilsen is working diligently on all sorts of paperwork and fielding phone calls. The Commissioner isn’t here yet. She doesn’t know when he’s expected to arrive. She’s just his assistant! She starts to wonder if she should re-apply for a manager’s license and consider work in talent representation but that train of thought is interrupted by a knock on the door.

Qb3jWaG.jpgHYSY58E.jpg

And the TNA Knockout’s Champion Daffney is welcomed in, alongside the delightfully devious Cheerleader Melissa.

Miss Neilsen wanted to see Daff because TNA management were very impressed last week. At this, Daffney grins, eliciting a shine to glow in the presence of such praise. It was a great performance! It was concise, strong, convincing… all the qualities that are loved by the powers that be.

Yes, Meiko Satomura certainly won them over in her victory over Allison Danger.

What? How dare she patronise the Champion like that? Melissa is disappointed by this turn of phrase and puts her arm around an upset Daffney, consoling her in the wake of such purposefully misleading behaviour. Unfortunately, Miss Neilsen isn’t finished being the bearer of bad news because the Lockdown match is now official and Daffney will defend her title against Meiko Satomura. The ‘Scream Queen’ can hardly believe she was summoned for this but she takes a few deep breaths and resists her urge to, well, scream.

This is fine. They were going to have to deal with the Japanese girl at some point or another… they may as well get her out of the way now. They stroll off in seeming contentment but a bang further down the corridor spooks the Commissioner’s assistant and she breathes a sigh before returning to work.

Standard Tag Team Match

Danny Doring & Roadkill vs. Sonny Siaki & Samoa Joe

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

This match is taking place after Sonny Siaki defeated Danny Doring on Xplosion and was challenged to face him in tag team match. With Ekmo in Japan, Siaki has formed an alliance with the undefeated ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ and honestly, this match is all Samoa Joe. He already holds singles victories over his two opponents and he’s in equally dominant form here. Siaki is briefly troubled after the Lancaster Lariat of Lust but once he tags out, the Gold Rush winner takes it easy on the apron. After flooring Roadkill with the STJoe, the Enzuigiri in the corner rocks Danny Doring and the Muscle Buster brings the victory for Samoa Joe.

Standard Singles Match

Ray Gonzalez vs. Mike Awesome (w/Don Callis)

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

‘Mr. Rayting’ has started rolling recently, picking up victories over Glenn Gilbertti and Kanyon in his last two singles outings. Mike Awesome, meanwhile, has only lost one singles match all year and that was to Sting at Caribbean Combat. This match follows the expected trend of Awesome using his size and power whereas Gonzalez gets technical and tries to piece up his opponent’s left leg with a variety of strikes, submissions and holds. Awesome hits a Powerslam but Gonzalez goes back downstairs with a chop block. The big man is locked in a Half Crab but he has too much power in his legs and brute forces an escape. After a nasty Lariat, Awesome hoists the Puerto Rican over his head for the Awesome Bomb. Unfortunately, he has a hard time basing himself on the leg and Gonzalez is able to slide down his opponent’s back before going downstairs again with a Dropkick to the Knee. It’s not pretty but it sure is effective and when Gonzalez snaps on the Figure Four Leglock, Awesome has a dilemma…

7vDTmWQ.jpg

”Does Awesome need to think about living to fight another day here?”

At ringside, our cameras catch Don Callis telling Awesome to think of Lockdown. He needs to be in fighting shape, he needs to think bigger picture! And after a minute or so trapped in the hold, Awesome simply nods to referee Slick Johnson who calls for the bell and awards the submission win to Gonzalez.

mUL3IEq.jpg

ZJvIthU.jpg

Getting back to his feet, Awesome isn’t stumbling too bad but is naturally frustrated at having given up the match. The ‘Consultant’ enters the ring and tries to calm his senses with the mantra of
bigger picture, bigger picture, bigger picture…
Gonzalez has his hand raised and turns his head towards the tunnel…

Spotting Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner and Kanyon hitting the ring down the entrance ramp!

Gonzalez dives through the ropes in front of him, getting out of dodge before he’s the victim of a 4-on-1 assault. He backs up the ramp as Jarrett takes the microphone and says that enough is enough, he thought beating Savio Vega would get rid of the IWA from TNA Wrestling altogether but he has to think again. Big League will see these Puerto Rican Power Players inside Lethal Lockdown!

Standard Singles Match

Veronica vs. Emi Sakura

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

With a victory here, Veronica will put herself in contention for a shot for Daffney’s TNA Knockouts title. Emi Sakura is a strong competitor and pinpoints her attack on her opponent’s lower back. With an STO backbreaker and then a double-armed backbreaker, the Joshi newcomer is out to show she shouldn’t be taken lightly. After a Clothesline, Veronica comes back with a Standing Moonsault for a close near fall. She telegraphs a Powerslam, Emi holding on the ropes before connecting with a Hip Attack. But attempting a Crucifix Driver, Sakura finds herself hoisted up into the Fireman’s Carry position and Veronica swings Emi off her shoulders into a Sidewalk Slam. Despite a convincing effort from Sakura on debut, Veronica’s power shone through in the end and the Widow’s Peak brought home the victory.

MmORGEZ.jpg

eGmVQ90.jpg

Veronica has the all important check in the win column and referee Foxxy Dreams raises her hand but she winces, stretching out her sore back before taking the microphone. Meiko Satomura is getting the title shot but after Lockdown, Veronica is putting both her and Daffney on notice. Whomever is the Champion on the 1st September should know that their title reign is running on borrowed time.

JXXhLLD.jpg

However, the sound of a screeching guitar riff and a wah-wah guitar riff introduces Nattie Neidhart.

Holding a microphone of her own, she warns Veronica of thinking too far ahead. At No Surrender, Veronica may have failed to capture the TNA Knockouts Championship but she also took that opportunity away from others. Namely, the ‘Queen of Harts’ herself when she was thrown over the top rope by the woman standing in the ring.

The only date in Veronica’s calendar is a clash with Bret Hart’s niece and next week, Nattie wants this lady to take a good close look at her game when she takes on Sarah Stock. That way, Veronica will have no excuses when she’s locked in the Sharpshooter and has to tap out to the best damn Knockout in all of TNA Wrestling!

The Dragon walks in, finding Ricky Fuji standing in front of a large mirror with four duo’s of masked luchadors, all wearing different coloured masks ranging from green to purple to blue to orange. On the canvas floor, Fuji is teaching them chain wrestling and submissions, encouraging them to show no mercy as they twist and stretch the bodies of their adversaries.

VrvmeXk.jpg

To one side, the Somber Serpent applies a seated armbar and falls backwards, eliciting a snap as he breaks the arm of a rookie. The youngster screams in pain but is admonished by Fuji for displaying weakness. As the young man stands up fleeing, the trainer kicks him in the backside and hopes he never returns. On the opposite side of the room, Ultimo Dragon watches as a man in a blue and golden mask hits a Corkscrew Standing Moonsault on his opponent. Damn, that’s impressive athleticism.

After spotting Ultimo Dragon by the door, Fuji snaps his fingers and his students stop immediately, standing up straight to direct their gaze towards their sensei. Fuji takes several strides forward, meeting Ultimo Dragon face to face in the middle of the canvas floor. The Kid has been training hard and Ultimo tells Ricky Fuji that next time, he will defeat his nemesis. Somber Serpent’s interest is piqued by this and he breaks ranks to stare down the veteran Junior Heavyweight but Fuji raises his left hand and stops him dead in his tracks. Ultimo is warned that he’s not just putting himself and his protege against the Serpent… no, they’re fighting the entire Fuji Dojo. A maniacal laugh sends Ultimo away and the seven students are ordered to return to their drills.

Standard Singles Match

Jerry Lynn vs. Kid Kash (w/Elix Skipper)

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Ever since defeat in the qualifiers for Ultimate-X III, Lynn has been struggling to get himself back in X-Division Championship contention. Meanwhile, his opponent tonight has been on a roll tagging alongside Elix Skipper and he continued that positive momentum here. Lynn blocked the Dead Level and hit a Fisherman’s Suplex but Kash came back with the Bank Roll. Jerry kicked out of Kash’s signature Double Jump Moonsault but the damage had been done and the Money Maker closed the deal.

At No Surrender, Chris Harris says they took care of The New Franchise and proved definitively that they are the best tag team in all of TNA Wrestling. That “floozy” Madison tried to get involved but they weren’t falling for any tricks. Bell to bell, AMW believe they can beat anybody.

Gargiulo asks them about Rock N Roll Express and Storm says there’s mutual respect there for sure, they are two legends and AMW will be privileged to face them. But first, they need to know that Morton & Gibson are worthy challengers. At Inmates Rule, they need to do what America’s Most Wanted have done. If Rock N Roll Express can defeat Sonny Siaki & Ekmo, Storm and Harris will be happy to see them boys at Lockdown.

Steel Cage Match

Raven & CM Punk vs. The Gathering (Abyss & Brother Julio) (w/James Mitchell)

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Inside the cage, Punk makes a beeline for Julio and Raven tees off on the man that took him out at Genesis. Mind you, Raven is tossed into the turnbuckles and falls to the canvas. Punk tosses Julio into the steel cage face first but a rake to eyes from his former tag team partner and a Black Hole Slam from Abyss leave Punk in a heap. With the Straight Edge star put to one side, they offer Raven safe passage, pointing to the cage door…

7vDTmWQ.jpg

”Maybe Father Mitchell will bury the hatchet with Raven after all!”

Raven considers their offer as Julio chokes Punk in the corner with his foot. Abyss stands in the middle of the ring stoically, blocking any sort of intervention as James Mitchell cackles, opening the door himself and reminding Raven that this man he’s teaming with is the student who turned on him.

The lonesome Raven considers his next move carefully.

”CM Punk has been hung out to dry OH I DON’T BELIEVE THIS!”

Despite the glee of the Father, Raven walks away from the scene. Up the entrance ramp he departs, leaving us with a handicap situation in the ring.

Nobody could ever accuse CM Punk of taking anything lightly and he fights back, decking Julio with a Pepsi Twist. With a knee to the butt of jaw, he rocks Abyss but ‘The Monster’ simply shoves him off a Bulldog attempt into a Clothesline from his partner. After a Black Hole Slam from Abyss and the Jalapeno Popper from Julio, The Gathering pin their former member with the Powerbomb-Neckbreaker combination, putting him down with the Near Death Experience.

Father Mitchell is delighted with his handiwork and Punk comes to his senses, shaking his head as the cage is lifted. With the ringside area clear after a commercial break, the sound of ‘Modest’ brings out Jeff Hardy.

4LQuROn.jpgbe9VPZ7.jpg

Inside the ring, he is interviewed by Jeremy Borash and asked about No Surrender. After defeating Roddy Piper, the Commissioner told Hardy that provided he’s in power, the ‘Enigma’ will never be TNA World Heavyweight Champion. For Jeff, that wasn’t surprising. He was right all along about Roddy Piper, he represents the system and institutes the will of TNA management. They hold back the Jeff Hardy’s of the world, they stand in their way but Hardy knows that none of the fans in the Impact Zone will stand for that! Together they will rise above the system and he will become the Franchise Player that he was always meant to be.

1krnXN5.jpg

The sound of bagpipes and drums brings out the Commissioner and he reminds Hardy that he was serious at No Surrender. Jeff Hardy as TNA World Heavyweight Champion would not be best for this burgeoning wrestling brand and since he’s the man with the badge, he makes the matches around here. If Hardy wants to climb the proverbial ladder, it will be a long slog for him. He’ll have to survive Piper’s Poison. Next week, on iMPACT, he takes on the winner of Ron ‘The Truth’ Killings versus D’Lo Brown… and this first test is just the beginning for Jeff Hardy!

Grudge Match

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Kanyon (w/Don Callis)

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Our main event of the evening is a match between two competitors who know one another very well. There’s no pretence of friendship here as Page hits his signature Tilt-A-Whirl Slam early but Kanyon replies with a Swinging Neckbreaker and then hits a Slingshot Flipping Lariat. Somewhere, a young Adam Page makes a mental note of that move, it could be a finisher...

DDP tries to roll out to the apron but Kanyon catches him, standing on the second rope to vertical suplex Page from the outside back into the ring. Page comes back with his trademark Gutwrench Gutbuster and signals that it’s time for the Diamond Cutter. But when he hooks Kanyon, the always-innovative Big Leaguer counters with a Stunner for a close near fall. DDP attempts a Clothesline but Kanyon ducks, catching him on the butt of the jaw with a Superkick. Page stays on his feet mind you, staggering before being promptly dropped with the Kanyon Cutter!

This isn’t enough for the younger of the two men to capture the victory and Page comes back once again, a Discus Clothesline flooring Kanyon. For a second time, DDP hooks for the Diamond Cutter but he’s shoved away towards senior official Rudy Charles. Page puts on the brakes to stop a collision but he turns around straight into the Flatliner and his former protege captures the victory.

IauEHVQ.jpgZJvIthU.jpg

A statement win for Kanyon, staying true to what he said last week about being his own man and having eclipsed the mentor who paved his way. He’s in no mood for sentiments, Rudy Charles raises his hand and he leaves with a determination in his stride. Job done.

EjH6VPB.jpg

Diamond Dallas Page gets back to a vertical base and takes the microphone from Jeremy Borash. Three months ago, he spoke about retirement on a radio show. He came into TNA Wrestling to find out if he could still go and he was happy to test himself against Ron Killings and Kanyon, two of the best wrestlers in the business. But he doesn’t want to be a hanger-on, wrestling when he’s long past his prime, embarrassing himself every time he steps in the ring. He doesn’t want people to talk about him in the past tense, to watch him wrestle and talk about the DDP of old, about how he used to have it.

Tonight might have been his final wrestling match. But he’s proud because he gave his old friend a good test in here and who knows, on a different day he might have delivered the Diamond Cutter and gotten the 1-2-3. He wants the fans to join him one last time and say it with him...

he asked DDP to put over Kanyon and Page had no issues with losing.

TNA Inmates Rule Preview

CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Saturday, Week 1, August 2004

After touring the road with TNA iMPACT, Dutch was grateful to have the entire crew back home in Tennessee and on Friday, he touched base with the creative team.

9SqLQtr.jpg

“Ma boy is gonna be a great headliner, no doubt about it daddeh.”

Dutch had been keen to do right by Dustin Rhodes, a talented performer but with his fair share of personal issues. Between his second divorce and a history of substance abuse, Dutch wanted to give Dustin a sense of stability. With the company behind him, he could get back on the right track and in the ring, Dutch was convinced that few were as polished and clean as ‘The Master’. Lockdown was an opportunity and against Sting, Dutch was excited to see the two of them tear it up.

CKoNNP7.jpg

“Kev is a no-go I’m afraid.”

With a major event named Bound for Glory set for October, Dutch was looking for a headliner to compete against Jeff Jarrett. He had sounded out Kevin Nash, asking Jeff to make contact and see if the multi-time World Champion was available to come in. Unfortunately, Nash had already been made an attractive offer for a WWE return and Dixie Carter was unwilling to match the salary expectations and bonuses. Giving Kevin Nash creative control was a stretch even for Dixie in the headlights.

IxzsRLj.jpg

“And in new business, WWE have offered Jeff Hardy a contract but I have counter-offered and he’s going to seriously consider both options.”

I'm a huge Nash fan so it would have been cool to see him show up in TNA in your game, but yeah, tough to compete with WWE. Also, hope you manage to keep Jeff around, though that will likely be tough as well.

Comments: You've pushed him so strongly that I find myself unable to go against Red at this point.

Meiko Satomura & Veronica vs. Daffney & Cheerleader Melissa

Ricky Banderas vs. Scott Steiner

Comments: "Big Poppa Pump" picks up the win here.

Comments: As a huge fan of DDP, if you have Killings beat DDP only to lose to D'Lo, with all due respect to D'Lo, I'll be very upset :p

I offered Nash a handshake deal and the very next day, WWE came in with a banger of a deal. I'm pretty sure they signed him just to jilt me but whatever, plans will have to change haha. With regards Hardy, I'm going to keep y'all in the dark because I'm a tease like that :p

Standard Trios Match

Ultimo Dragon, Dragon Kid & Jerrelle Clark vs. Team Canada (Legend, Eric Young & Bobby Roode) (w/Scott D’Amore & Steve Corino)

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

We kick off with fast paced action here and it’s the fan favourite trio that starts off hot. Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker from Ultimo to Roode, Springboard Hurricanrana from the Kid has E-Y sprawling to the outside and the Tiger Feint Armbar from Clark to Legend leaves Team Canada regrouping. Garguilo says that Bobby Roode and Eric Young are the established tag team within D’Amore’s group and after they hit a Suplex-Crossbody combination, they isolate Jerrelle Clark in their side of the ring.

Dragon Kid comes in but we’ll never know what he was attempting when he climbed onto Legend’s shoulders because the stalwart flattened him with an Electric Chair Facebuster. The second tag is more definitive, Ultimo Dragon turning the tide, picking up a close near fall on Roode with a Brainbuster. Two more tags later and Jerrelle is left duking it out with Legend. ‘Mr. 630’ elbows his way out the Hospital Job and leaves Legend in dangerous territory after a Pumphandle Reverse Suplex. From the top turnbuckle, Clark hits the sensational 630 Senton! The Asylum jumps to their feet, big pop for the amazing move and the pinfall is academic.

5U4mmnv.jpg

mZvdgY3.jpgINwa3CG.jpg

With a shake of the head, neither Steve Corino nor Scott D’Amore are impressed. Everything was supposed to change! It’s a disappointing defeat for Team Canada and absolutely not the way they wanted to start the night with Kenny Omega challenging for the TNA X-Division Championship next. The ‘Canadian Ace’ wonders if it’s time to send a message and he tells Legend that he needs to take it like a man and learn from it.

k3s1yj3.jpg

Legend doesn’t resist nor fight back when he’s put in the Three-Quarter Facelock and Steve Corino nods to D’Amore. Then he hits Old School Style to punish the loser.

jDWA57W.jpg

”A bit of tough love from the leader of Team Canada!”

But rather than leaving him laying, Corino orders Roode and Young to help Legend back to his feet and the group leave the ringside area together.

TNA X-Division Championship

Amazing Red © vs. Kenny Omega

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

If drama within Team Canada was supposed to distract Omega, the ‘Canadian Prodigy’ doesn’t show it in the first act here. With no D’Amore at ringside, he uses his size advantage and his muscular upper body physique, putting a beating on Red early on. Deceptively strong, Omega hoists Red up with consummate ease, delaying before slamming him to the canvas with a Vertical Suplex. Big German Suplex from Omega but agile as ever, Red rotates over and lands on his feet. He charges in but is absolutely starched with a big Clothesline, turned inside out and left in a heap with his face tasting the canvas. If Red thinks he’s safe lying on his stomach, think again! Omega deadlifts him up with a Gutwrench, twisting his adversary up and around to his shoulders before planting him with a Sit-Out Powerbomb. For the Challenger, this is as good as it gets. An Enzuigiri from Amazing Red sends Omega outside but he’s still in the crosshairs, a Tornillo from the inside to the outside takes down young Kenny.

Back inside and Red Star Press brings the near fall. Omega gets the hooks for the Dragon Suplex but Red drops down, grabbing the legs for a quick Victory Roll-Up and another near fall for the Champion. Climbing up his opponent’s shoulders from behind, Red swivels from the Electric Chair position into a Hurricanrana and holds on to the pin for another near fall. Omega comes back with a Bridging Tiger Suplex but charging the corner, he hits the turnbuckles and falls to the mat as Red ascends to the top and comes down with the Infrared for the victory.

As referee Andrew Thomas raises Amazing Red’s hand and gives him his TNA X-Division Championship, we jump to the Commissioner’s office.

1krnXN5.jpg8fZamDv.jpg

We find Commissioner Piper standing with Kid Kash, surveying the screen for the action happening in the arena. They’re both pretty impressed but the youngster cuts to the chase. He’s been on a roll lately, he thinks he’s the strongest possible challenger and he wants the next title shot at the TNA X-Division Championship. Without a moment’s hesitation, Piper agrees and makes the match official for Lockdown!

Standard Tag Team Match

Rock N Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Sonny Siaki & Ekmo

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

America’s Most Wanted have told Gibson and Morton that if they win here, they will be given their much-desired TNA World Tag Team Championship opportunity at Lockdown. Both Rock N Rollers have their way with Sonny Siaki early on, working over the Samoan stud and taking advantage of his inexperience in the chain wrestling. Arm wringers, arm drags, hip tosses, drop toe holds, headlock takeovers; they really put him through the ringer. That is, until he tags out to Ekmo and the big man is able to knock both Morton & Gibson down to size. Naturally, it’s Ricky Morton that winds up in peril. He tries to rally The Asylum behind him but it doesn’t look pretty after a Samoan Drop from the big man. Siaki sends Ricky to the ropes and ducks his head, but Morton sunset flips over him, forward rolls and tags in his partner!

Like a house of fire, Gibson comes in with clotheslines, right hands, a cheeky eye rake for the big man. Morton helps his partner negotiate the numbers advantage but they’re both backed into opposite corners. Tandem Irish Whips but they ring around the roses and the Rock N Roll Express come back to strike their opponents. Gibson spots Ekmo charging in and moves out the way, allowing the big man to collide with his own partner! Siaki drops to the canvas and a Double Clothesline sends Ekmo tumbling out the ring and down to the outside, crashing to the floor in an ugly heap. As the Samoan stud gets back to a vertical base on wobbly legs, the Double Dropkick puts him down for the 3 and Rock N Roll Express have booked themselves a date with AMW.

<div style="padding: 20px; border: 2px solid #da251c;border-radius: 25px;margin:15px;background: #dddddd; max-width:100%;";">

Gibson and Morton celebrate their victory whilst Ekmo stomps back up the entrance tunnel on his own. Sonny Siaki comes to, waltzing off, shaking his head in disappointment and frustration. Eric Gargiulo says that if AMW are true to their word, they will be defending their titles against the legendary duo at Lockdown but then he sends us backstage to join Mike Tenay…

EgXdZpz.jpg

He brings up the great victories for Jerrelle Clark and Amazing Red, telling us that the X-Division is really heating up and we can expect more exciting young talents to join the frey in the weeks and months to come. He informs us that he is backstage in the Big League’s private locker room…

ZJvIthU.jpgCKoNNP7.jpgkEiYVPy.jpg

And the camera pans across, finding Don Callis, Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner stretched out on a leather sofa. They’re not too pleased about ‘The Professor’ interrupting them but he’s a broadcast journalist and he’s here to find out their thoughts ahead of Scott Steiner’s TNA in-ring debut later tonight. Jeff Jarrett humours his request. For too long now Savio Vega and his Puerto Rican posse have stuck their nose in Big League business. Him beating Ray Gonzalez at Caribbean Combat was just business, it wasn’t personal like Savio thinks but their rivalry has gone too far now to walk it back.

According to Scott Steiner, later tonight,
Ricky WHAT’S-HIS-NAME
is going to be destroyed by the ‘Genetic Freak’! He’s going to wrap the LARGEST ARMS IN THE WORLD around his neck, break him in two and put him on the scrapheap where he belongs because he’s just a big fat piece of trash! He’s here in TNA Wrestling to win titles and he’s surrounded by winners, he’s a Big League star whilst the PRP are all losers. After he’s done with
Rick Bandana
or whatever his stupid name is, none of those idiots are even going to show up at Lockdown and the Big League will spend their night on fine wine and even finer ladies instead!

Standard Tag Team Match

Meiko Satomura & Veronica vs. Daffney & Cheerleader Melissa

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

Our fan favourites make for an uneasy alliance here. Meiko Satomura will be competing for the TNA Knockouts title at Lockdown, a position Veronica wishes she was in but she now has Nattie Neidhart to worry about. Consequently, Daffney & Melissa control this match early on, uniting and working together to isolate both ladies through different periods of this match. A Frankensteiner from Daff to Satomura doesn’t get the job done and Melissa’s Backdrop Driver can only land a near fall on Veronica. But once the union is secured, Satomura and Veronica become more than just the sum of their parts. A Spinning Backfist from Meiko leaves the Cheerleader vulnerable and Veronica is able to put her out of commission with the Widow’s Peak.

Legal woman Daffney blindsides her though, driving a double sledge into Veronica’s back before telling her that she will never get a shot at her title so long as she’s the champion. But this moment of hubris is her downfall, admonishing Veronica leaves the ‘Scream Queen’ wide open to Satomura’s Roundhouse Kick. Daffney gets back to one knee but the Axe Kick to the top of the head takes her down and she’s easy pickings for the Death Valley Bomb. Just weeks out from her title opportunity, the Challenger pins the Champion and holds the advantage heading into Lockdown.

Standard Singles Match

Ricky Banderas (w/Savio Vega) vs. Scott Steiner (w/Don Callis)

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

He may well be oversized here but what Ricky Banderas lacks in stature, he makes up for in unpredictability. Steiner is surprised by the Headscissors Takedown and eats a couple of Clotheslines before ducking to the outside. Mind you, ‘El Mesias’ can’t afford to slug it out against such a powerful adversary and Steiner gets the better of him as they trade hands. Steinerline and a kiss of the largest arms in the world precede the driving of the elbow into Banderas’s sternum. Vega urges Ricky on, catching the ire of Steiner. SHUT THE HELL UP! But Ricky comes back with a Spear, Dagger Through The Heart for a near fall. With the referee’s back turned, Vega gives Steiner a shot to the cheeks! Callis is irate with this interference and he gets the referee’s attention…

mKiDiD4.jpg

”Slick Johnson is having a hard time controlling this one…

With the official’s gaze directed away from the action, Steiner delivers a low blow, a kick to the grapefruits has Ricky doubled over! But Vega spotted that and he’s having none of this. His boy isn’t being screwed again! Savio rolls in the ring and drives the sole of his boot straight into Steiner’s face, a savate kick drops the ‘Genetic Freak’ and as the two of them tangle on the canvas, referee Slick Johnson feels he has no choice but to call for the bell.

MKdodTm.jpg

kEiYVPy.jpgz2HTYUY.jpgax6bq8Y.jpg

A bit of revenge for what happened to him at No Surrender, Vega gets his piece of meat, driving his right hand into his rival’s skull repeatedly. But Scott Steiner throws him off, catching the Power Player in his massive arms with a Bearhug, lifting him off his feet before hurling him over his head with a Belly to Belly Suplex. Impressive power but Banderas is back up now and he tees off on Steiner with punches of his own. As Scott scrambles towards the ropes…

CKoNNP7.jpg

Jeff Jarrett is on hand to pull on his mate’s right leg, helping Scott Steiner drop down and get away from the ring. Banderas and Vega take command of the squared circle, urging the Big League to bring the fight back to them but neither Double J nor his ‘Consultant’ are interested in entertaining that particular offer. They back away, persuading a furious Scott Steiner to leave it for Lockdown.

Grudge Match

D'Lo Brown vs. Ron Killings

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

This match is happening after D’Lo answered Killings’s open challenge with Commissioner Piper adding an extra dimension on Wednesday by announcing that the winner will face Jeff Hardy on iMPACT #26. This is a first time singles match and like many, Killings is surprised by D’Lo’s deceptive power and taken for a ride early on courtesy of a Spinebuster. ‘The Truth’ finds refuge outside the ring but from the top turnbuckle, Brown soars and flattens his opponent with what can only be described as a Body Attack. Back in the ring, Killings tugs on Brown’s singlet, sending him throat first into the middle rope and this enables Ron to start using his superior cardiovascular fitness, grinding down Brown with a combination of impact moves and holds.

mKiDiD4.jpg

”Killings isn’t getting down with the Brown but he’s certainly getting Brown down with this trip to Truth town.”

For D’Lo, the opportunity to make a comeback arrives when Killings makes the misjudgment of attempting the Truth Conviction. He’s unable to lift D’Lo and the bigger man blocks the attempt, lifting Killings up before dropping him stomach first over the ropes. After several knockdowns, Killings gets sent to the ropes and returns to center, planted with the Sky High! Brown has pinned many with this move but it isn’t enough to put Ron down for the three. To D’Lo’s credit, there’s no panic or hesitation. He immediately goes up top and dives off with the ‘Lo Down…

… but he only lands on the canvas!

All 270-odd pounds of Brown came crashing down, splatting on the mat as Killings had his wits about him enough to roll out the way. Dazed, both men return to their feet but ‘The Truth’ seizes the day, hitting the Lie Detector for a rather sudden pinfall victory.

Challenge Match

AJ Styles vs. Jason Cross

TIME LIMIT: 30 MINUTES

A quick handshake gets us going here before these two demonstrate how well versed they are with one another. Arm wringer into a hammerlock from Styles but Cross twists his way out into a forward roll, a kip up and an arm wrench. To the corner they go with Cross attempting a Monkey Flip but AJ flips over and lands on his feet. Jason runs the ropes, leapfrog from AJ, drop down and then his beautiful sharp Dropkick… but Cross saw that coming and held onto the ropes, leading us to a respectful stalemate in the center of the ring.

“Sportsmanship!”

We kick into a higher gear as AJ sends Cross bailing to the outside. Asai Moonsault attempt from Styles but Jason moves out the way. Styles adjusts in mid-air to land on his feet but as soon as he’s regathered his bearings, he spots Cross in mid-flight and finds himself flattened with the Asai Moonsault! Back inside the ring, both a Standing Shooting Star Press and a Reverse Suplex bring near falls for Cross, very much the Vegas underdog here but trying to hold his own. AJ tries to come back with the Phenomenon DDT but Cross has seen this one before, twisting swiftly to hook AJ in a Facelock before using the ropes for momentum to plant him with a Tornado DDT. The momentum shifts again and AJ finds the mark with the Phenomenal Combo, staggering his opponent before hooking him into the Torture Rack. Styles tries to swivel out into a Sit-Out Powerbomb but Cross counters into a Hurricanrana, pinning Styles to the canvas with both legs gripped under his arms. Referee Rudy Charles is in position and counts the one and the two with his hand barely inches away from planting his hand on the canvas for the three before AJ manages to shoot his left shoulder up!

”That was a 2.99 count there Eric!”

It’s been a relatively close match but this is where the AJ Styles of a couple of years ago may have flagged and faltered. Cross had taken advantage of such breaks in the past but here, AJ waits for an opportunity and strikes. Cross hoists him up for a Scoop Slam but Styles shifts his weight, slipping behind his opponent before planting him with a Reverse DDT. Up top goes AJ, flying off with a spectacular 450 Splash for a very close near fall. But rather than ruminating on that kick out, Styles quickly follows up, pulling Cross up and between his legs before hoisting him up and flattening him with the Styles Clash. He was troubled at times and tested by an opponent that knows his game well but the cream rose to the top in the end, a pinfall victory for AJ Styles and further proof he calls himself the ‘‘Phenomenal One’ for a reason.

Plenty of respect after the match, a handshake in the middle of the ring and a short embrace. For Jason Cross, it was an opportunity to vy with one of the best wrestlers in TNA but Rudy Charles raises the winner’s hand before Jeremy Borash tries to catch a word with Mr. TNA. He asks about the match and Styles takes a moment to acknowledge that Jason was an awkward adversary. There were moments in there when he had to dig deep in there but he got the victory. Now, his sights are set firmly on the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. He wants another shot at Sting and he’s laying down the gauntlet now. Sting vs. AJ Styles, let’s get it on!

”Wait wait wait…”

Unfortunately, Michael Shane arrives from the entrance tunnel, flanked as always by the vivacious Madison. He wants to know how AJ Styles could possibly consider himself the top contender considering his recent victories have been so damn lucky. Against Daniels? Lucky roll-up pin. Against Shane? Lucky dodge of the Superkick. Against Cross? Lucky slow count from the referee.

No, Shane believes that AJ has a lot more proving of himself to do before he can earn a match for the title and it starts with The New Franchise…

From behind, Shane Douglas attacks AJ Styles!

‘The Franchise’ had come through the crowd and rolled in the ring. Jeremy Borash hightails it out of there as Douglas stomps away at AJ and soon, his protege Michael Shane joins the beatdown. Together, they pull a weary Styles back to a vertical base and despite missing the mark on Wednesday, this time the Sweet Shane Music connects. They ascend the turnbuckles, raising their arms and smirking, basking in the disapproval of The Asylum. They kneel down by AJ, lifting his head up and pointing to his semi-conscious face, deriding our audience at home for treating this man as their hero as we slowly fade to black.

Post Show Notes

After the cameras stopped rolling, Jason Cross returned to the ring with a steel chair and ran off The New Franchise. He and AJ Styles stood tall to send the crowd home happy.
