We have a new champion!!!

Yuma Maruya is a 6 time 5SSW World Champion! The crowd applaud the incredible match they've just seen, as Yuma is tearing up in the middle of the ring. On commentary, Kuniyoshi Chishu, Katsuhiko Shunsen and DEVIL Karube all put over how amazing Maruya is and how much spirit she has to keep fighting back despite all Jippensha's submissions. Shiori is just starting to come to, it's all sinking in that she has lost the World title to her #1 rival, once again.

Yuma poses on the turnbuckles with her title, she now has the record of the joint-2nd most World title wins in 5-Star history, tieing Crusher Ichihara's 6 World titles. You wouldn't know it though, as Yuma celebrates the title win like it's her first! Calming down, Maruya grabs a mic and prepares for her post-show speech.

Maruya: "Thank you everyone. First of all, I just want to thank you all for coming out tonight, without you all none of what we do would be possible."

The crowd applaud as Yuma bows to them all.

Maruya: "Secondly, I want to thank my rival Shiori Jippensha for the war we just had. She's a wonderful competitor and an even better champion, and that won't be the last time we compete against each other. I'd like to ask Shiori to come and shake my hand."

The crowd cheer as the camera cuts to Jippensha, who's halfway up the ramp and looks upset, rightfully so after losing the title. She makes the right decision, entering the ring and staring down Yuma, who has her hand outstretched.

Shiori looks at her hand, then at Yuma. She goes in for the handshake....

OH!

Jippensha slaps Maruya!

The slap was so hard it knocked Yuma down, but Shiori storms to the back, not even paying attention to the crowd's boos at her disrespect to someone who she has previously shown vast amounts of respect to!

Oh shit, this is NOT good. That absolutely wasn't supposed to happen, what the hell is she thinking?

I leave commentary straight away, told Yuma to act like it was part of an angle and rush to the back. I found Kit Hatoyama as soon as I made it, she looks pretty concerned.

Karube: "You seen Shiori?"

Kit: "Yeah, she just stormed passed me, she seemed to be heading towards the locker room. She looks really mad. She's never acted like this before."

Karube: "I know. I know losing the belt to Maruya upset her, but this is unacceptable. Thanks."

I run towards the rocker room and I don't need to do much to find out where Jippensha is, because she's in the midst of kicking a locker in.

Jippensha: "AAAAAARGH!!!! I'm so fucking SICK OF HER!!!"

Karube: "THAT'S ENOUGH!!!"

Shiori shoots daggers at me and walks right up to me.

Jippensha: "I did the job to her okay? and she repays me by fucking up my shoulder on that suplex to the apron spot, that SHE INSISTED WE DID! And what the fuck is that shaking the hand shit at the end? Huh? Are you trying to humiliate me?!"

Karube: "What the hell are you talking about?! The whole build was you two being respectful rivals, why wouldn't you shake hands afterwards?"

Jippensha: "Because I look like a fucking idiot!"

Karube: "If you swear at me one more time, you're never being booked here again."

Shiori REALLY wants to bite back, but that threat has her at least stop screaming. Thank god, because it was looking like she might get physical with me.

Karube: "Okay. I know you're angry at the finish and losing to Yuma again. I understand, you've been the best wrestler in the company and I really didn't mean to disrespect you. I know you're worried about your shoulder too, it looked really rough that landing. But that's no excuse for hitting her! She could sue you Shiori! Deal with this here, in the locker room, not in front of a full crowd like that. You're lucky I told Yuma to treat it like an angle, otherwise that would've been really bad, for YOU."

Jippensha: "Like I give a crap. She thinks she's better than everyone else, that good girl idol image she pulls back here is so fake it makes my skin crawl."

I sigh and put my head in my hands. She's still furious, but at least I've calmed the situation down a bit.

Karube: "Did you speak with the media?"

Shiori shakes her head.

Karube: "Okay. I'm sure you understand you won't be allowed near the press room. Stay here, I'll tell Kit to get a doctor, and I need to see how Yuma is doing. Tomorrow, you two will be coming to my office first thing in the morning and you WILL apologise. Got it?"

Shiori wants to tell me to fuck off, I can tell. But she takes a deep breath and nods.

Jippensha: "Can you hurry up with that doctor?"

I leave the room to let her calm down fully. I hear from Kit that Yuma is apparently scared to go to the locker room after what happened and is with HEART Saitoh & Gemmei Oonishi right now and is really distraught.

Boss Ogiwara sees me and I go up to her, she's just off the phone with someone.

Karube: "Bad time?"

Ogiwara: "Oh it was just Kawashima losing the rag at me at seeing his wife get assaulted live, no big deal!"

Fair enough. I give her the run down on what happened in my chat with Shiori, and my plan to sit them down in a meeting tomorrow and sort this out.

Ogiwara: "Okay. I'll be attending too. I am the owner after all, this is my responsibility to deal with it too. I suppose we treat this as a work to the press?"

Karube: "Yeah, that's what I was thinking."

Ogiwara: "Good. I need to go to the press conference, give me an update and I'll see you tomorrow for this meeting."

Ogiwara goes off, and I sit down and dake a big deep breath.

Karube: "Fuck."

Lol people hate Yuya Maruya and I get it but some of the best joshi workers ever and today lean into the idol thing.

This is very intriguing, love me some drama. Booking joshi has its peculiarities, let's see what you've got cooking! Good luck

Cheers chief! I like Yuya tbh, but I thought it'd be a smart idea to play into that role, and I felt like at 5SSW, everyone kind of gets along really well so I wanted to add some extra drama XD I've never booked a joshi before, so hopefully everything works out

After exchanging pleasantries with some of the office workers, I head into Boss Ogiwara's office and prepare for, what's no doubt, going to be a stressful day. Usually, we'd be discussing the success of the show and how to advance going into Dynamo Tag, but of course we can't because of the bullshit that happened last night.

Ogiwara: "I'll let you handle most of the talking, since you're far better at diplomacy than me."

That's true. Ogiwara doesn't look it, but she is really impatient when it comes to locker room disputes, with how strung Shiori is, we need to navigate this carefully.

Karube: "Yeah, I agree. You going to fire Shiori?"

Ogiwara: "That depends on her attitude. If she shows enough remorse for what she did, or if she at least is willing to explain herself and apologise, then we can move on after deciding on a punishment."

Karube: "Won't that just piss off Yuma though? She's a huge locker room leader, we can't afford to make it look like we've let Jippensha off the hook."

Ogiwara: "Maruya will understand. We're lucky, we've never had an incident like this before. The men deal with this kind of shit all the time, if Yuma can't handle it, she's frankly not cut out for this business."

Oof.

On that note, the secretary let us know that Yuma was here, and Shiori had just arrived.

Everyone is here. Maruya, Jippensha, Ogiwara and myself. Ooooooh boy it's awkward.

Karube: "Okay, so everyone is here. We all know what happened last night, and we all know that what happened was unacceptable. It was a shitty way to end a great show after one of your best matches together. We're lucky that people haven't caught on that this isn't a work, there's only a few people stating it was real, but that's buried under people who are excited about where this "story" is going. Now, whether this goes off into a programme is up to you two."

Jippensha: "You forgetting that a certain someone in this room fucked up my shoulder? That's the second time I've been hurt in a big match by her, that means I can't help pay my bills, all because SOMEONE decided to try a stupid spot in the middle of the match without consulting me!"

Maruya: "If I may, Shiori, I'm really sorry about injuring you, I never intended for that to happen and if I knew you'd be so against taking the move I wouldn't have done it. I just thought-"

Jippensha: "NO! YOU DIDN'T THINK! YOU-"

Karube: "HEY! Inside voices. Now."

Shiori bites her lip at my scolding. I nod at Yuma to keep going, she was pretty shaken by her rival's outburst.

Maruya: "I had done that spot with Megumi plenty of times, and both of us turned out okay. It was an accident, just like the first time was. I was in the heat of the moment and didn't think about whether it was too late in the match to try something so reckless. I hope you can forgive me."

Yuma bows to Shiori, and to be honest, I feel bad for her. She's the one who got attacked and SHE'S apologising?

Maruya: "However, what you did to me after the match was unacceptable. I had to stop Kozue from going backstage himself! He's demanding I get a lawyer and persue this, he thinks I have a case."

Me and Ogiwara look at each other. Ogiwara speaks up.

Ogiwara: "Do you intend to persue, Yuma?"

Maruya: "I don't want to. I love 5-Star, I love wrestling, plus it isn't like I have many options in Japan. But I can't just ignore this. You need to be punished for what you did to me."

Shiori's eyes widen. I think the realisation of letigation is sinking in. She sits back in her chair, thinking about her next words carefully.

Jippensha: "Okay. I'm sorry for slapping you. I was angry, I was frustrated, I felt like you were trying to humilate me in front of everyone. Now that I think about it, my issues aren't REALLY with you. Sure, I don't like you, but after calming down, my issues are with you."

Shiori looks directly at me.

Karube: "Oh? Is that right?"

Jippensha: "Yes. See, I don't have any personal issues with you DEVIL, but to be honest it feels like whenever I start getting momentum, you cut my legs out from under me. You told me the plan was to keep the title until JoshiMania where we'd crown Oonishi. I had prepared and was promoting that match like crazy. But, like always, instead of creating a new star, you hotshot the belt onto Yuma again? She doesn't need it! Hell, I don't mind losing the Yuma, it's the fact that now, Oonishi is left with no real plans going into JM, I was getting momentum and rave reviews and had my reign cut off before it started! It isn't just me either."

I raise my eyebrows in shock, I didn't know Shiori was so upset about all this.

Karube: "Then why didn't you tell me these feelings instead of bottling them up? Now you have a potential lawsuit on your hands and for all you know, we could be planning on releasing you after today."

Jippensha: "You don't wanna do that. People online will flip and it'll not just make me look bad, but 5-Star too."

Maruya: "I don't think releasing Shiori will do any good, with all due respect."

Ogiwara: "How so?"

Maruya: "The fans are behind her. I know my idol stuff really splits the fanbase, but the people who hate it? They've rallied behind her after last night. If this meeting goes well, this could REALLY kick off a great run for the company."

We all look at Yuma, kind of shocked she's willing to go to bat for the woman she was threatening to sue. But she's right. I look at my phone and it's been the most buzz 5-Star has had in a while.

Ogiwara: "Okay, I think I know how to solve this."

We all turn to the boss, hanging on what she's about to say.

Ogiwara: "So, both of you have now apologised. That's good, it means no one here is getting fired at least. And, with Yuma herself suggesting a programme between you two, it's up to Shiori if she's comfortable working with her again after her injury."

Jippensha: ".....Let me think about it."

Ogiwara: "Fair enough."

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning flashes in my head.

Karube: "Wait! I have a idea!"

Karube: "Shiori, you've been unhappy with my booking, that's understandable. I definitely haven't been as open to ideas from talent about their direction. So, I'm willing to change that, if when you've recovered from injury, you can work JoshiMania with Yuma. And this time, we'll make you the hottest heel in the company...."

After both stars had left, I take a big sigh of relief.

Karube: "Thank god that's over."

Ogiwara: "Tell me about it. I have to say, I'm shocked to hear you so willing to compramise on your booking Umeko."

Karube: "I mean, we're talking about two of our biggest stars and the potential to give ourselves a lot of momentum going into JoshiMania. As bad as she was last night, we'd be insane not to capitalise on that. We just need to wait until January when she's healed."

I give Ogiwara a cheeky smile.

Karube: "Plus, if the angle falls flat, it won't be my fault and my way of booking usually will be proven right."

A very interesting start to this. I like that your focusing on a single story, narrowing your focus. I'll be intrigued to see how Jiori becomes the hottest heel in the promotion, especially since half the crowd is on her side.
