Bolting Up the Ranks: The Story of Bobby Bolton

Recommended Posts

INTRODUCTION Ever since I can remember, I have been a HUUUUGE fan of professional wrestling. Every time the big companies came to the Great Lakes, I was there. Every Tuesday night, I and a few buds were glued in front of the TV set, watching wrestling – SWF, HGC, TCW, didn’t matter to us. And we always joked that one day, we’d be the champions that the kids of tomorrow were watching. But that’s the thing – they were just joking; I was serious. Throughout my junior and senior years of high school, I trained at the Great Lakes Wrestling Academy, getting a basic education in the sport we love and in the Cruiserweight style. And yesterday – May 31, 2006 – I went back to the Academy one more time. They measured my height; I stand exactly six feet tall. They put me on the scale; I weigh in at two hundred and nine pounds. And then they gave me my official professional wrestling license! And thus begins my journey to fame, fortune and world titles. This is my story – the story of Bobby Bolton. Wait, one more thing: I am 18 years old, born February 12, 1988. June 2006, Week 1 1: So here we go – my first day as a professional. Time to make some calls. Looking at the list, there are nine promotions running in the United States, but two of them are women only (AAA and BSC), and three of them are way too big for a raw rookie like me (SWF, TCW and DAVE). So I place calls to the other four: United States Pro Wrestling out of the South East, New York City Wrestling in the Tri-State area, Coastal Zone Combat Wrestling in the South West, and Mid Atlantic Wrestling in, well, duh. CZCW Surf Slam – Coastal Zone Champion Fox Mask defeated Plague; Air Force One (Jimmy Foxx & Snap Dragon) defeated The Nightmares (Insane Machine & Primal Rage) for the Coastal Zone Tag Team Championship BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – Burning World Champion Bruce the Giant defeated Yasunobu Masuno; Burning Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Spyder Yakuta; Burning Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Marihito Masuko 2: All four promotions returned my calls today, I’m so excited!!! I agree to contracts with MAW, CZCW and USPW to give myself exposure to three different styles of promotions. I’ll be a face in the former two promotions under my real name; USPW is taking a different approach. There, I’ll play a heel who believes he is God’s gift to professional wrestling and will work as “Robert Awesome.” SWF Supreme TV – World Heavyweight Champion Steve Frehley vs. Christian Faith ended in a double DQ; Shooting Star Champion Marc DuBois defeated Bart Biggz; North American Champion Squeeky McClean defeated World Tag Team Champion Zimmy Bumfhole TCW presents Total Wrestling – All Action Champion Wolf Hawkins defeated Freddy Huggins; International Champion Troy Tornado defeated Grunt AAA Babe Blast – Femme Fatale Champion Joanne Rodriguez defeated Suzue Katayama; Steph Blake & Gorgon defeated the Brendon Sisters (Michelle & Tracy) for the AAA Tag Team Championship; Top Contender Sara Marie York defeated Candy Floss 3: USPW is running Americana! on the 8th, and MAW has Murder Incorporated on the 14th. Hope I get a match on at least one of those shows... NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Canadian Champion Sean McFly defeated Jeremy Stone; Craig Green defeated Edd Stone for the NOTBPW Unlimited Action Championship ROF Times of Trouble – ROF Champion Stevie Stoat defeated British Samurai; #1 Contender Walter Morgan defeated Don Henderson; Tag Champions the Show Stealers defeated Absolutely Flawless 4: DAVE Danger Zone TV – Travis Century defeated Big Cat Brandon for the DAVE Brass Knuckles Championship; Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated the New Jersey Devils PGHW The King’s Road – International Tag Team Champions Team Youth Sprint defeated Noriyori Sanda & Bryan Holmes OLLIE Haga Frente al Hangman – Nicolas Lopez defeated Manuel Prieto for the Campeon de Universal OLLIE; Campeon de Mexico Rafael Ruiz defeated Luis Montero Jr.; Campeones de Trios Los Phoenix defeated Mastericco & Hexx & Oceano 5: UCR International Wrestling Superstars – European Champion Super Falcon defeated Joey Beauchamp; Tag Team Champions The Force defeated Ali Bloxsome & Frank De Pain; Female Champion Alpha Female defeated Anna Ki 6: GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – World Heavyweight Champion Hiroyasu Gakusha defeated Yoshifusa Maeda; Openweight Champion Toshiharu Hyobanshi defeated Kiminobu Kuroki MOSC Glory Days – UK Champion Joss Thompson defeated Bruiser; Blood and Beer Champion DJ Reason defeated Thug 7: Could be one day away from my first pro match. June 2006, Week 2 8: I get to the arena for USPW Americana!, and it turns out I do have a match – against Cheetah Boy in the opener for a $1,250 purse. He’ll look to use his speed and athleticism to overcome me, and he’ll have to – he can’t weigh more than about 160 pounds. If I can ground him, I can win this match. I put on my black and gold trunks, sunglasses and gold robe (my heel costume) and head to the Gorilla position. “Introducing first, weighing in at one hundred and sixty pounds, CHEETAH BOY!!!!” So I was right. “And his opponent, weighing two hundred and ten pounds, ROBERT AWESOME!!!!” Booing as I ****ily strut out. From here, it’s all a blur, so let’s go to the match recap on the USPW web site:
(1) Cheetah Boy vs. Robert Awesome The tiny fan favorite dominated the opening minutes, hitting a quick Flying Cross Body for a two count. He attempted a series of pinfalls at the 6 minute mark, but only get one or two each time. Awesome fought back in the match, nailing a gorgeous Moonsault Press at 10 minutes. Each man tried to lock in their finishing manuever – a Twisting Face Crusher for Cheetah Boy, and a Fame Dropper for Awesome – repeatedly, but was unsuccessful each time. The two combatants went to the top rope, where Cheetah finally prevailed and hit a superplex at the 18 minute mark. Robert got a little too ****y, and Cheetah reversed an Implant DDT and hit a Super Kick for the win! Winner: Cheetah Boy by pinfall @ 20:10 Match Rating: A
Well, that was a bit of a reality check. I didn’t even hit a damn offensive move for almost the first 5 minutes of the match, and was only on offense for 30% of the bout. I took a shower (during which, I am told, World Tag Team Champions the Forces of America defeated the Hillbillys) and went back to the locker room to watch the rest of the show and Corporal Doom defeated Freddie Datsun for the USPW World Championship. I took my $250 loser’s share of the purse and went home with much work to do. BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – World Champion Bruce the Giant defeated Yasunobu Masuno; Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Nariaki Hitomi; Junior Tag Team Champions Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda defeated Shibanuma & Yoshii Shiomi; Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Golden Scorpion WEXXV Tribute to Heroics – Warrior’s Heart Champion Saionji Omura defeated Hiroshi Morisue; Blood Brothers Champions the Peak Brothers defeated the New Jersey Devils 9: SWF Supreme TV – World Tag Team Champions the Amazing Bumfholes defeated the Samoan Wildboyz; Shooting Star Champion Marc DuBois defeated Bart Biggz; North American Champion Squeeky McClean defeated Calamari Kid TCW presents Total Wrestling – World Heavyweight Champion Ricky Dale Johnson defeated Texas Pete; All Action Champion Wolf Hawkins defeated Freddy Huggins; International Champion Troy Tornado defeated Charlie Thatcher; World Tag Team Champions The Machines defeated Painful Procedure 5SSW Darkness Formation – World Champion Sensational Ogiwara defeated Crusher Ichihara; All-Asian Champion Kiko Sakakibara defeated Raku Makuda; Tag Team Champions Seek and Destroy defeated the Bomb Squad SOTBPW Juventud Llameante – Campeon de Mundo Champagne Lover defeated Charron; Campeon de Menor Mario Heroic defeated Pirrato 21CW Written in Blood – World Champion Pit Bull Brown defeated Red Dragon; Strong Style Champion Rod Todd defeated Travis Cool; Tag Team Champions the Elimination Agents defeated the Anglo-Scots Connection 10: NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Canadian Champion Sean McFly defeated Jeremy Stone; Tag Team Champions The McWade Brothers defeated the Demolition Crew; Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green vs. Matty Phatty ended in a double count out 11: Motivated by, and pissed off at, my performance on Monday, I get my ass in the gym and work on my Stamina. SWF Times of Trouble (327,425 buys) - World Heavyweight Champion Steve Frehley vs. Eric Eisen ended in a double count out; Shooting Star Champion Marc DuBois defeated World Tag Team Champion Zimmy Bumfhole; North American Champion Squeeky McClean defeated Elmo Benson DAVE Danger Zone TV – Unified Champion Chris Caulfield defeated Eric Tyler; Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated The Animalz; Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century defeated Tank Bradley PGHW The King’s Road – International Champion Noriyori Sanda defeated Washi Heat 12: PGHW MAGNUM (51,194 buys) – Glory Crown Champion Mito Miwa defeated Nobuatsu Tatsuko; International Tag Team Champions Team Youth Sprint defeated Masayuki Shiga & International Champion Noriyori Sanda; Glory Tag Crown Champions Team Toronto defeated Washi Heat & Bryan Holmes UCR International Wrestling Superstars – World Combat Champion Captain Hero defeated Byron; Tag Team Champions The Force defeated Geoff Borne & Evil Henchman #2; European Champion Super Falcon vs. Joey Beauchamp went to a time limit draw MPWF Destruccion del Uno Mismo – Campeon de Herencia de Mundo Soul Taker defeated Blue Sky; Campeon de Lucha Atlantis Jr. defeated Magnifico 13: One more day until my redemption... NOTBPW Jeopardy in June (18,527 buys) – Canadian Champion Sean McFly defeated R.K. Hayes; Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green defeated The Natural; Young Lion Champion Edd Stone defeated Gregg Boone GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – World Heavyweight Champion Hiroyasu Gakusha defeated Yoshifusa Maeda; World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Samoan Destruction Inc. defeated Shotaro Ikina & Yasuhide Tayama; Openweight Champion Toshiharu Hyobanshi defeated Eagle Kawasawa NYCW We Die Young – Black Hat Bailey defeated Joey Minnesota for the NYCW Empire Championship; Tri-State Regional Champion Grandmaster Phunk defeated Whistler 14: MAW Murder Incorporated, and I face Stan ‘The Man’ Manna for a $1,000 purse. I’ll have to watch out for the 21 year old Canadian’s “Rockin’ Roller” MDK Powerbomb out of the corner if I want to win this one.
(3) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Stan ‘The Man’ Manna Back and forth to begin as each man looks to build some momentum. Manna scores a Small Package for a near-fall at 5 minutes, but falls victim to a Heel Hook Leg Grapevine and taps out?!? Winner: Bobby Bolton by submission @ 5:40 Match Rating: F
Wow. I was totally not expecting Manna to tap out there (and neither was he, judging by his “YOU GOTTA BE ****IN’ KIDDING ME!” after he tapped). Regardless (and regardless of the “That Match Sucked” chant), I’ll take the $800. Anyways, Mid Atlantic Champion The Mean Machine defeated Tag Team Champion Oscar Golden to retain, but that wasn’t the big news of the day. MAW owner, the legendary Rip Chord, went to the ring after the main event, asked the entire roster to come to the stage, and announced that MAW, the smallest promotion on God’s green earth, HAS A NEW TV SHOW STARTING NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT~!!! Ho. Ly. ****. CGC Title Bout Wrestling – World Champion Alex DeColt vs. Eddie Chandler ended in a double DQ; World Tag Team Champions The Specialists defeated Youth Energy; Canadian Champion Ricky DeColt defeated Ryan Powell

June 2006, Week 3 15: I’m still in shock from the announcement last night. I’ll be taking on 20 year old heel, ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas for $1,500 as part of the five match card. While I do that, I’ll be looking for either my “Lightning Bolt” Fame Dropper variation, or the “Bolt Cutter” Reverse Snap DDT.
(3) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas Douglas took control in the early minutes, immediately focusing his attack on the legs. Bolton began a rally at the 5 minute mark, culminating with a Plancha Dive to the outside! Back inside, the men traded reversals including a failed Lightning Bolt attempt at 7 minutes until Bobby hit a DDT. He went up, but Douglas caught him and delivered a Superplex for the surprise three count! Winner: ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas by pinfall @ 8:10 Match Rating: F
Another match that ended before it really got going, except this time I came out on the losing end. TO A FRIGGIN’ SUPERPLEX. I took my $300 loser’s share and went back to the locker room, where I watched Mid Atlantic Champion The Mean Machine defeat Mainstream Hernandez in a non-title main event. BHOTWG Inferno of Purity (48,284 buys) – World Champion Bruce the Giant defeated Yasunobu Masuno; Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Nariaki Hitomi; Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Marihito Masuko; Junior Tag Team Champions Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda defeated Silver Shibanuma & Silver Shark; World Tag Team Champions Chuichi Sanda & Eiji Hamacho defeated The Rebellion CGC In the Company of Legends – World Champion Alex DeColt defeated Ryan Powell; Canadian Champion Ricky DeColt defeated Dean McWade; World Tag Team Champions The Specialists defeated the Gilbert Brothers INSPIRE Ancestors Honour Us – King of Fighters Marat Khoklov defeated Billy Russell UCR International Wrestling Superstars – Tag Team Champions The Force defeated the Youth Bandits; European Champion Super Falcon defeated Joey Beauchamp 20: GCG Reach for the Mountain – World Heavyweight Champion Hiroyasu Gakusha defeated Kiminobu Kuroki; Openweight Champion Toshiharu Hyobanshi defeated Barry Griffin GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – No title defenses. June 2006, Week 4 22: Still stinging from the loss on The Main Event last week, I head to the Mid Atlantic Training Center and work on my Submission skill. I also WILL NOT EVER LOSE TO A GODDAMN SUPERPLEX EVER AGAIN. Got it? BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – World Champion Bruce the Giant defeated Yasunobu Masuno; Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Nariaki Hitomi; Junior Tag Team Champions Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda defeated Silver Shibanuma & Yoshii Shiomi; World Tag Team Champions Chuichi Sanda & Eiji Hamacho defeated The Rebellion 4C Presents...Best of the Best – 4C Champion Barry Kingman defeated Phenomenal E.; Tag Team Champions Mighty Fine defeated Air Attack Weasel & Nomad 23: SWF Supreme TV – North American Champion Squeeky McClean defeated Angry Gilmore; Shooting Star Champion Marc DuBois defeated Pecs; World Tag Team Champions The Amazing Bumfholes defeated The Warriors of the Deep TCW Presents Total Wrestling – World Tag Team Champions The Machines defeated Painful Procedure 24: NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Tag Team Champions The McWade Brothers defeated The Demolition Crew; Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green defeated The Natural; Young Lion Champion Edd Stone defeated (new signee) Joey Minnesota 25: We’re back at home this week for The Main Event, so no traveling required. DAVE Danger Zone TV – Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated The Animalz; Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century defeated Eddie Peak PGHW The King’s Road – Glory Crown Champion Mito Miwa defeated Shuji Inukai; International Champion Noriyori Sanda defeated Washi Heat; Historical Japan Champion Bryan Holmes defeated Masayuki Shiga 26: The Mid Atlantic Arena is pumped, and so am I, as I get a rematch against Douglas, once again for a $1,500 purse.
(3) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas Showing their newfound familiarity, the two men went back and forth in the opening minutes. Douglas went for the Texas Deathlock at 7 minutes, but Bolton would have none of it. Bobby started to rally with a Moonsault Press shortly thereafter, and hit the Heel Hook Leg Grapevine, but the ref was down at 12 minutes. Undeterred, Bolton went for a Moonsault through a table, but Douglas moved. Ricky rallied and went for the Bolton Killer Superplex (:P) at 19 minutes, but Bobby rejected that idea. Each man unsuccessfully hooked their trademark submission in short order thereafter. Douglas nailed a German Suplex for a near-fall at 23 minutes. Each man emptied their arsenal until Bolton caught Douglas and hit a Top Rope DDT! He covered, but Douglas somehow kicked out at two at the 28 minute mark! Ricky caught Bobby with a Super Back Suplex shortly after and locked in the Texas Deathlock in the middle, but Bolton found another wind and escaped it! With a “This is Awesome!” chant echoing throughout the arena, Bobby hit the Bolt Cutter and draped an arm across Douglas for the win! Winner: ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton by pinfall @ 33:20 Match Rating: A*
WOW. Just WOW. I staggered to the back, accepted the congratulations of the boys on the win and the great match, accepted my career-high $1,200 check, and watched Mid Atlantic Champion The Mean Machine defeat Mainstream Hernandez, this time with the title on the line. UCR International Wrestling Superstars – World Combat Champion Captain Hero defeated Byron; European Champion Super Falcon defeated Frank De Pain; Female Champion Alpha Female defeated Geena the Warrior Princess 27: God, do I feel like crap. My neck is sore, my head’s sore, hell, my whole upper body is sore, but not only is that what happens when you go 1/2 hour-plus, it’s all worth it to get one step closer to the Mean Machine and the Mid Atlantic Championship. Besides, I’ve got three shows next week, with CZCW’s Battle on the Beach on the 1st, USPW’s Independence Day Slam! on the 4th, and MAW’s Main Event taping on the 5th. GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Samoan Destruction Inc. defeated Shotaro Ikina & Yasuhide Tayama 28: Time to get at it again. • 2 weeks later...
July 2006, Week 1 1: And I arrive, having just flown cross-country for the CZCW Battle on the Beach, only to find out that I’m not on the card. So I grab an ice-cold soda, sit back and watch Coastal Zone Champion Fox Mask defeat Plague and Tag Team Champions Air Force One defeat Valiant & Xtreme Champion Frankie Perez. DAVE The Extreme Double Header, Day 2 – Unified Champion Chris Caulfield defeated Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century; Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated The Animalz BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – World Champion Bruce the Giant defeated Yasunobu Masuno; Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Nariaki Hitomi; Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Marihito Masuko; Junior Tag Team Champions Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda defeated Silver Shark & Yoshii Shiomi 2: SWF Supreme TV – World Tag Team Champions The Amazing Bumfholes defeated The Warriors of the Deep; Shooting Star Champion Marc DuBois defeated Calamari Kid; North American Champion Squeeky McClean defeated Kid Toma TCW Presents Total Wrestling – All Action Champion Wolf Hawkins defeated Freddy Huggins; International Champion Troy Tornado defeated Texas Pete; World Tag Team Champions The Machines defeated Painful Procedure AAA Women of Wrestling – Femme Fatale Champion Joanne Rodriguez defeated Wanda Fish; Top Contender Sara Marie York defeated Cherry Bomb; Tag Team Champions The New Originals defeated Wendy Anderson & Helen Bach MOSC Youth Gone Wild – UK Champion Joss Thompson defeated Danny Patterson; Blood and Beer Champion DJ Reason defeated Bruiser; UK Tag Team Champions Monkey Business defeated the Ivanoff Brothers 3: Off to the South East for Independence Day Slam! now, hopefully they’ll give me a match. NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green defeated The Natural; Tag Team Champions The McWade Brothers defeated The Demolition Crew 4: Eight matches on the card tonight, and of course, I’m not in one of them either. Nonetheless, I watch World Champion Corporal Doom best World Tag Team Champion Jim Force, and National Champion Darryl Devine defeat Java. DAVE Danger Zone TV – Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated The Animalz; Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century defeated Eddie Peak PGHW The King’s Road – International Tag Team Champions Team Youth Sprint defeated Washi Heat & Historical Japan Champion Bryan Holmes; International Champion Noriyori Sanda defeated Masaru Ugaki 5: MAW tonight in the South East, convienently enough, and I’ve got the rubber match against Ricky Douglas. Once again, $1,500 is on the line.
(3) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas Bolton starts out with a flurry and goes for a quick Heel Hook Leg Grapevine, but Douglas slips out and never looks back, hitting a bridging German Suplex for the win! Winner: ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas by pinfall @ 4:00 Match Rating: F
Pathetic. Just pathetic. It’s obvious what happened – I wanted to give that SOB a lesson by making him tap out in like two minutes, but then I lost focus. And you know what they say: He who loses focus is bound to lose the match. Anyways, I took my $300 loser’s share and watched the Mean Machine pin Mainstream Hernandez one more time in front of a paying crowd of...twenty. MPWF Medidas Desesperadas – Campeon de Herencia de Mundo Soul Taker defeated Blue Sky; Campeon de Lucha Atlantis Jr. defeated Asiatico; Campiones de Trios Mayan Idol & Cique Jr. & El Guardiano Jr. defeated Daniel Cano & Inca Jr. & Jungle Jack UCR International Wrestling Superstars – World Combat Champion Captain Hero defeated Byron; Tag Team Champions The Force defeated the Youth Bandits; European Champion Super Falcon defeated Joey Beauchamp; Female Champion Alpha Female defeated Geena the Warrior Princess 6: GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – World Heavyweight Champion Hiroyasu Gakusha defeated Openweight Champion Toshiharu Hyobanshi 7: CGC Title Bout Wrestling – World Champion Alex DeColt defeated Dan DaLay; World Tag Team Champions The Specialists defeated Youth Energy

Wish me good luck, I may need it.
(2) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Titan Titan controls the pace, but Bolton cuts him down with a Basement Dropkick and hits a Moonsault Press for two at the 5 minute mark. They exchange finisher attempts, and Bolton dropkicks the big man to the outside, who dodges a Flying Clothesline attempt, but Bobby hits the Bolt Cutter on the floor at 9 minutes! The men trade finisher attempts again until Titan reasserts control with his power. Bolton shows resilience, hitting Ten Punches in the corner, so Titan resorts to cheating to regain the edge. Double B gets back into the game with a Top Rope Diving Rana at 17 minutes, but Titan slips out of a Heel Hook Leg Grapevine and connects on a Titanic Choke Slam! He covers and gets the three count! Winner: Titan by pinfall @ 19:30 Match Rating: B-
Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions The Canadian Blondes defeated Natural Storm in the opener, and Mid Atlantic Champion The Mean Machine retained over Des Davids in the main event. July 2006, Week 3 15: There really isn’t any shame in lasting twenty with a 300-plus pound behemoth. That said, I’m getting sick of counting the lights, so I go to the Training Center and work on my Power so I can better combat my larger opponents. BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Marihito Masuko; Junior Tag Team Champions Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda defeated Yoshii Shiomi & Silver Shibanuma 16: This Friday’s Main Event is the last taping before MAW presents Day Zero on the 25th of this month. SWF Supreme TV – Flex defeated Marc DuBois for the SWF Shooting Star Championship; The Dirty White Boys (Grease Hogg & Lead Belly) defeated The Amazing Bumfholes (Randy & Zimmy) for the SWF World Tag Team Championship; North American Champion Squeeky McClean defeated Pecs TCW Presents Total Wrestling – World Heavyweight Champion Ricky Dale Johnson defeated BLZ Bubb; All Action Champion Wolf Hawkins defeated Freddy Huggins; International Champion Troy Tornado defeated World Tag Team Champion Wrestling Machine #1 17: NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green defeated The Natural; Young Lion Champion Edd Stone defeated Gregg Boone; Tag Team Champions The McWade Brothers defeated The Burning 18: We’re taping the Main Event from New England this week. Hopefully the change of scenery can change my luck... DAVE Danger Zone TV – Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century defeated Eddie Peak; Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated The Animalz PGHW The King’s Road – International Tag Team Champions Team Youth Sprint defeated Masayuki Shiga & International Champion Noriyori Sanda; Glory Tag Crown Champions Team Toronto defeated Historical Japan Champion Bryan Holmes & Washi Heat 19: And it’s a good thing I trained on my Power, because tonight I’m facing Titan’s partner in the Gods of Thunder, Atlas. And I think he’s EVEN BIGGER. The purse for our opening match is $750.
(1) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Atlas Bolton is too elusive for Atlas in the early going, but only finds a one count on a Moonsault. Bobby kicks the big man and delivers the Lightning Bolt! He covers, but Atlas kicks out at two at 4 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Bolton blocks a DDT and hits a second Lightning Bolt, but Atlas kicks out again! Atlas strings together a series of offense and attempts the Kronus Bomb, but Double B reverses to a pin for two at 10 minutes. After a few more reversals, Bobby slips out of an Over Shoulder Backbreaker and hits the Bolt Cutter, and the third finisher finally nets the three count! Winner: ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton by pinfall @ 10:40 Match Rating: C+
Looks like I did learn well, huh? My speed and skill proved too much for raw power on this night, and I pick up the $600 winner’s check. I sit back, grab my customary soda, and watch Mainstream Hernandez defeat The Mean Machine in a non-title match in the main event, presumably setting up a rematch for the belt at Day Zero. BHOTWG Quest of Heart (50,329 buys) – World Champion Bruce the Giant defeated Yasunobu Masuno; Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Nariaki Hitomi; Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Marihito Masuko; Junior Tag Team Champions Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda defeated Silver Shibanuma & Yoshii Shiomi CGC Ultimate Showdown – World Champion Alex DeColt defeated Dan DaLay; Canadian Champion Ricky DeColt defeated John Maverick SOTBPW Apetito Destructivo – Campeon de Mundo Champagne Lover defeated Pablo Rodriguez; Campeones de Parejas Los Sickness defeated Ataque de Noche ROF Rip It Out – ROF Champion Stevie Stoat defeated British Samurai; Tag Champions the Show Stealers defeated the Shooters; #1 Contender Walter Morgan defeated Kelly Martin UCR International Wrestling Superstars – Tag Team Champions The Force defeated the Youth Bandits; European Champion Super Falcon defeated Evil Henchman #1 20: GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – Openweight Champion Kiminobu Kuroki defeated Jimmy Cox 21: I’m still a little ticked off that Atlas kicked out of the Lightning Bolt twice, but no matter; a win’s a win. It worked out really well since Davids has a bad ground game. Tag Clutch Dropkick Combo would get them back standing. And tag team experience really helps. Oh and remember whenever you have a choice always work for another fed over MAW. Once you get to 100% popularity in the Mid-Atlantic there's no more gains to be had there.

July 2006, Week 4 22: A big week coming up for me, as I’ve got a double-dose of MAW with Day Zero on the 25th and the Main Event the next day. A pair of wins could vault me right back into the Mid Atlantic Championship picture... BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Junior Tag Team Champion Kansuke Konda 4C Presents...Iron Man Challenge – 4C Champion Barry Kingman defeated Jacob Jett; Hardcore Champion Phenomenal E. defeated Canadian Gangsta 23: TCW was running just down the road tonight, so I went and saw Ricky Dale Johnson and Peter Valentine beat Tommy Cornell and Henry Lee in a tag team main event. More results are below... SWF Supreme TV – World Heavyweight Champion Steve Frehley defeated Eric Eisen; World Tag Team Champions the Dirty White Boys defeated the Amazing Bumfholes; Shooting Star Champion Flex defeated Calamari Kid; Lobster Warrior defeated Squeeky McClean for the SWF North American Championship TCW Presents Total Wrestling – International Champion Troy Tornado defeated World Tag Team Champion Wrestling Machine #1; All Action Champion Wolf Hawkins defeated Freddy Huggins 24: It’s Day Minus One, so we head to the Mid South for tomorrow’s big show. NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green defeated Sean Deeley; Young Lion Champion Edd Stone defeated Gregg Boone; Tag Team Champions The McWade Brothers defeated The Burning 25: Day Zero is here, and I get to face my old adversary, ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas! So I spend the day studying tapes of him, specifically our previous matches in which I am 1-2. Tonight, we’re fighting for the biggest purse of my young career - $2,000.
(3) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas Douglas controlled the opening minutes, scoring a quick near-fall on a Small Package at 3 minutes. Bolton fought back into the contest with a Russian Legsweep and a DDT, and from there they traded reversals back and forth as each man is familiar with the other’s offense. The referee was knocked down at the 8 minute mark, but that would prove a non-factor as the men continued to trade reversals, barring a sweet Top Rope Diving Rana from Bolton. (ref) recovered just as Bolton slipped out of a Single Leg Grapevine and delivered the Bolt Cutter! Double B covered, but Douglas kicked out at two! However, Ricky staggered directly into a Lightning Bolt, and that netted Bobby the three count! Winner: ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton by pinfall @ 12:30 Match Rating: C+
I picked up an amazing $1,600 for the win – not bad for 12 minutes’ work, huh? On the rest of the Day Zero card: Steven Parker defeated Erik Strong; Oscar Golden defeated Flash Savage in a battle of Tag Team Champions; D.C. Rayne defeated Atlas; Mainstream Hernandez bested Stan Manna; and Mid Atlantic Champion The Mean Machine retained over Des Davids. DAVE Danger Zone TV – Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated The Animalz; Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century defeated Johnny Martin PGHW The King’s Road – Glory Crown Champion Mito Miwa defeated Shuji Inukai; International Tag Team Champions Team Youth Sprint defeated Masayuki Shiga & Historical Japan Champion Bryan Holmes; Glory Tag Crown Champions Team Toronto defeated Akinori Kwakami & Junnosuke Fukazawa 26: We’re back at the Mid Atlantic Arena for the Main Event tonight. Atlas is apparently ticked off that I kicked his ass last week, because he went and demanded a rematch.
(1) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Atlas Atlas dominated the opening, but missed a Big Legdrop at 4 minutes. Bolton never looked back, taking him down with a Twisting Neckbreaker, applying a Heel Hook Leg Grapevine, and forcing the big man to tap out! Winner: ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton by submission @ 5:10 Match Rating: F
That’ll learn that candyass. I pick up $600 for the relatively easy W and watch ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas knock off Mainstream Hernandez in the nightcap. UCR International Wrestling Superstars – World Combat Champion Captain Hero defeated Mr. Evilness 27: A busy day at the Training Center, as I work on my Power, Brawling and Basics skills. I also learned a couple new moves that I can spring on my next adversary. :) GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – World Heavyweight Champion Yoshifusa Maeda defeated Hiroyasu Gakusha; World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Samoan Destruction Inc. defeated Shotaro Ikina & Yasuhide Tayama 28: Three people were newly licensed to wrestle this month: Rodney Gumble, a 19 year old kid from Canada; Eddie Phillips, a 36 year old European MMA fighter; and Washi Ichimonji, a 29 year old kickboxer from Japan. July 2006 - Month in Review A little bit of a rough start with the whole "four minute loss" thing, but I recovered and rattled off 3 consecutive wins to end the month. It might take a while for you to gain enough popularity to get you to the title matches but I'm sure that you will get there. Just keep winning and you will get there someday. It might even take 6 months to a year before you start getting close. You're doing a great job with "Double B" and this diary. Keep up the good work!

August 2006, Week 1 1: To the South West today, for Coastal Zone Combat Wrestling and Wave of Fury. Owner and matchmaker Cliff Anderson has set me up with my CZCW debut, against fellow cruiserweight Masked Cougar for a $700 purse. Should be a good match.
(1) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Masked Cougar The combatants began throwing moves at each other fast and furiously, culminating with Bolton applying the Heel Hook Leg Grapevine at the 5 minute mark after a missed High Rise Cougar Pounce. Bolton rallied, but was stopped in his tracks with a Moonsault Press. They traded nearfalls back and forth until Bolton grabbed the Heel Hook out of midair! Unfortunately for him, the masked man fought free and hit the High Rise Cougar Pounce on his fourth attempt and covered for the win! Winner: Masked Cougar by pinfall @ 9:50 Match Rating: C+
Crap. That sucks. Anyways, I take home $140 for the defeat. Later on in the evening, E.M.M. Moe defeated Marc Speed; Valiant defeated Jeremiah Moose; Tag Team Champions Air Force One defeated Frankie Perez & Remmy Skye; Matt Sparrow topped Insane Machine; and Coastal Zone Champion Fox Mask defeated Plague in front of a crowd of 184. DAVE Attitude Adjustment – Unified Champion Chris Caulfield defeated Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century; Tag Team Champions Adrenaline Rush defeated the New Jersey Devils BHOTWG Lords of the Ring – Junior Champion Sensational Dragon defeated Junior Tag Team Champion Kansuke Konda; Openweight Champion VENOM defeated Nariaki Hitomi. 2: Next week’s Main Event is actually going to be a recap of the live Brain Damage show on the 5th; there isn’t going to be a separate TV taping as well, because MAW doesn’t have enough people to do that. SWF Supreme TV – North American Champion Lobster Warrior defeated Squeeky McClean; Shooting Star Champion Flex defeated Calamari Kid; World Tag Team Champions The Dirty White Boys defeated Sexual Aggression TCW Presents Total Wrestling – World Heavyweight Champion Ricky Dale Johnson defeated Tommy Cornell; All Action Champion Wolf Hawkins defeated Freddy Huggins; Painful Procedure (Randall Hopkirk & Billy Jack Shearer) defeated The Machines for the TCW World Tag Team Championship AAA Girls Night Out – Femme Fatale Champion Joanne Rodriguez defeated Suzue Katayama; Top Contender’s Trophy holder Sara Marie York defeated Devil’s Daughter; Tag Team Champions The New Originals defeated Helen Bach & Wendy Anderson MOSC Anarchy in the UK – UK Champion Joss Thompson defeated Bruiser; Blood and Beer Champion DJ Reason defeated Thug; UK Tag Team Champions Monkey Business defeated the Ivanoff Brothers 3: Two things I read on GrappleFanatics.net today. First, the surprising one: ‘Rough Justice’ Tommy Cornell, the consensus “finest worker of our generation,” has now lost 5 matches in a row (containing 3 tag bouts & a WHC match). And on the not so surprising front, Burning World Champion Bruce the Giant extended his deal with the promotion. NOTBPW Championship Wrestling – Canadian Champion Sean McFly defeated Jeremy Stone; Unlimited Action Champion Craig Green defeated Sean Deeley; Young Lion Champion Edd Stone defeated Joey Minnesota; Tag Team Champions The McWade Brothers defeated The Burning UCR Fear of The Dark – World Combat Champion Captain Hero defeated Mr. Evilness; European Champion Super Falcon defeated Evil Henchman #2; Tag Team Champions The Force defeated Geoff Borne & Ruud Van Anger; Female Champion Alpha Female defeated Speedy Marie 4: DAVE Danger Zone TV – The New Jersey Devils (Alex Braun & Tank Bradley) defeated Adrenaline Rush (Sammy Bach & Teddy Powell) for the DAVE Tag Team Championship; Brass Knuckles Champion Travis Century defeated Eddie Peak PGHW The King’s Road – International Champion Noriyori Sanda defeated Washi Heat INSPIRE Full Complement – King of Fighters Marat Khoklov defeated Li Bingci 5: I’m on the Brain Damage card tonight, coming to you from the North West, and I’ll be facing Steven ‘The Future’ Parker for a $1,000 purse.
(2) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Steven ‘The Future’ Parker Parker starts by kicking Bolton’s ass around the ring, not even letting him get any offense for several minutes. Undeterred, Double B fires back with shots of his own, ducks a Super Kick, hits a DDT and both men are down! Bolton launches himself and connects with a Flying Clothesline, but Parker quickly regains control and hits a Super Kick for the pin! Winner: Steven ‘The Future’ Parker by pinfall @ 8:00 Match Rating: D
Another match where I didn’t get out of the box strong. I’m starting to notice a trend here...Anyways, I take home $200 for the loss. In other action, Erik Strong topped Al Coleman; Tag Team Champions The Canadian Blondes retained over the Gods of Thunder; Ricky Douglas beat Des Davids; and Mid Atlantic Champion The Mean Machine defeated Mainstream Hernandez in front of a crowd of 16. WEXXV Be a Fighter! – Warrior’s Heart Champion Saionji Omura defeated Hiroshi Morisue; Blood Brothers Champions The Peak Brothers defeated the Stretching Crew UCR International Wrestling Superstars – Tag Team Champions The Force defeated Ruud Van Anger & Geoff Borne 6: “Nice glass jaw, Bobby.” That was the message on my answering machine this morning from my buddy, alluding to the fact that I’ve been Super Kicked twice and pinned twice. Sadly, this most recent one knocks me back below .500 for my career. GCG Stars of the Golden Canvas – Openweight Champion Kiminobu Kuroki defeated Jack Marlowe; World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Samoan Destruction Inc. defeated Shotaro Ikina & Yasuhide Tayama 5SSW Forever Battle Insanity – World Champion Sensational Ogiwara defeated Thunder Hike; Tag Team Champions Seek and Destroy defeated All Business; All-Asian Champion Kiko Sakakibara defeated Kuniko Matsura 7: Two losses this week. Next week needs to be better. That is all. CGC Title Bout Wrestling – Canadian Champion Ricky DeColt defeated John Maverick; World Tag Team Champions The Specialists defeated the Gilbert Brothers

He may be the rare opponent who is smaller than me, but last time I faced one, I lost; and besides, he’s a crazy ****er who’s got all kinds of crazy **** he’ll try to finish me with. We’ve got $1,125 on the line for this match.
(2) ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton vs. Flash Savage (Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champion) Savage started with a couple dropkicks, but Bolton quickly took control and hit a Moonsault Press at 4 minutes. They traded reversals back and forth until Double B busted out a Superplex which didn’t even get two. Flash responded with one of his own shortly thereafter. Double B locked in the Heel Hook Leg Grapevine at 12 minutes, but Savage refused to tap out. He fired back with a Moonsault Press of his own and a Slingshot Legdrop for a near-fall. After a few more reversals, Bolton caught the tag champ with an Implant DDT and scored the three count! Winner: ‘Double B’ Bobby Bolton by pinfall @ 14:30 Match Rating: C
Not exactly a dominating performance (although I was at 57% offense), but I’ll certainly take the $900 for the win.
