It's February 1984. At this point and time, Misawa has not yet dominated the Japanese scene, and is just starting out. He would eventually become the Second Generation Tiger Mask... Later unmasking to become one of the greatest wrestlers ever. But what if Misawa led a different path? Will he still become a legend of puroresu? Or will he fade into darkness? Only time will tell. UWA President Francisco Flores said that this potential deal was part of a recent talent exchange between UWA and AJPW, as UWA had sent many of their wrestlers over to work for AJPW and now they wanted some talent in return. Mr. Flores offered Misawa a PPA contract for a low $25 per appearance in an opener position. Misawa accepted the offer and was excited by the opportunity to work in Mexico. Mr. Flores discussed Misawa's character and suggested that he debut in a masked gimmick. Misawa came up with the name "Golden Scorpion" and asked Mr. Flores for a gold mask and gold attire, which he agreed to.

Puroresu ShrineJanuary Edition, 1984 Promotion Recap All Japan Pro Wrestling It has been a busy month for All Japan, as they've hired and fired many wrestlers changing the face of their roster. One of the main storylines has been the "Mexican Invasion" made up of Black Gordman, Chavo Guerrero Sr., Dos Caras, El Satanico, Lizmark, Mando Guerrero, Ultraman, Villano I, Villano II and Villano III. This group of wrestlers have been feuding with both the natives and regular non-latino gaijins. Some of AJPW's releases have been surprising, such as well-known gaijin Bruiser Brody, veteran Haruka Eigen, up and comer Toshiaki Kawada and especially Mil Mascaras who could of been useful for the Mexican invasion. We've seen some high profile matches this month, including Baba/Hansen, Baba/Funk and Tsutura/Funk. Puroresu Chukei on Nippon TV has been showcasing All-Japan's extensive talent in high-profile matches, which has been cricitized by some. One bad thing for AJPW, in my opinion, has to be the favouring of the Mexican stars and other new gaijins over All-Japan's natives. New Japan Pro Wrestling It has also been a busy month for New Japan, as they've made some large adjustments to their roster themselves. They've mimicked All Japan by bringing in some new luchadores, but they've equally brought in other gaijins from the U.S and the U.K. Antonio Inoki only wrestled three matches in the whole month, which is maybe a sign of newer, fresher talent leading the promotion on into the future. Fujinami is still reigning strong as WWF International Heavyweight champion, making three successful defenses so far, Takada won the vacant WWF Jr. Heavyweight title this month and finally Inoki is still the undefeated NWF champion. Universal Pro-Wrestling UWF did not tour this month although they did make some slight changes to their roster. OOC: It was a chant directed at Inoki. I don't know what it means. The Confessions of Shohei "Giant" Baba I've been in this business for over twenty years. It has never been easy and it will not continue to be easy. Rikidozan said to me, "take the dream, and never let it go". I have held that dream for a long time and soon it will slip out my grasp. I'm 46 and still have some time left in the ring, but my body is broken. All-Japan needs me and I'll always be able to look after the promotion, but I'm the top star. I'm the company's main draw, but what happens when I retire? How will the company survive? New Japan are on top, and Inoki will want to bring me down. All-Japan Pro Wrestling IS Puroresu. I've tried to stop smoking cigars, but they are an addiction. Wrestling is my other addiction. These two addictions will lead to my demise. The dream just isn't enough anymore. How will history judge me? Will it judge me as a legend of Puroresu and the founder of the greatest promotion or will it judge me as a man who crippled himself in the ring and killed his own creation. The entire landscape of the wrestling world is changing and there isn't anything I or anyone else can do to stop it. Men will taste the glory of victory and the bitterness of defeat. Promotions shall rise and fall. The cycle of the wrestling industry shall forever continue, but I cannot. Some times the only things that give me hope are the wrestlers of the younger generation. One day, they will carry the wrestling business. Only they will be the ones that can carry my promotion. I have been carrying this burden on my back for too long, and I cannot stand it any longer. Soon I will need to lie down and rest. Motoka and my family need me, I cannot let them down. I cannot let the wrestlers and fans of All-Japan down. I cannot let the greatness of Puroresu down. I cannot let Rikidozan up in heaven down. That is why I shall build the new generation of stars. I will create legends who will carry the burden with the same dignity and honour that I have. Who shall replace me? Who will be remembered as one of the greatest? I have seen the talent that has come into my promotion through my dojo. There has always been one man who I have looked upon as the future of this business. That man is Mitsuharu Misawa. Not only does he show promise in his in-ring ability, but he has the one thing that has kept me going all these years. Toukon. The Fighting Spirit. The Fire. He shall not fail me. I shall follow him closely. Very closely.
what does "Bom Bay E" mean?
"Bom Bay E" is from Zaire, its means "Kill him", so "Inoki Bom Bay E" means "Inoki kill him",it comes fom Muhammad Ali;during the pre-fight promotions in Zaire for "The Rumble In The Jungle",the crowd started chanting "Ali Bom Bay E"(Ali kill him),I would imagine after the Inoki/Ali match the crowd picked up on and modified it for Inoki to reflect the outcome of that matach.
