  1. I'm guessing either it was removed for coding reasons, or Adam just didn't think it was a particular feature because it's not like it's something that gets discussed very much. But I do think it's possible it was a coding limitation because it seems like hiatus and other game statuses are treated differently in 2020 compared to 2016. On Hiatus isn't a thing even in the main editor anymore. You can set a starting absence as "On Hiatus", but you can't set a worker to On Hiatus anymore in the main worker screen in the main editor.

     

    But yea, I really hope it's possible to put this back in, or to come up with some kind of an alternative. TEW 2020 is growing on me, it has a lot of great stuff. But having this missing does bum me out, to be honest. As petty as it may be, and I hate making such a big deal out of something so relatively minor.

     

    Actually, I wish we could just in-game add the things on "Starting Absences" in the main editor. Like, On Hiatus, Filming, Personal Reasons, etc. And then a retirement and out of business on or off. I'd be happy with that. I personally like creating some self imposed challenges by putting a top star On Hiatus for like a year. And then I also love booking the big comeback. But let's see.

I think or maybe just the first one. But it was there and it was a huge pain in the ass. In long term games the AI always had shows happening on weird dates. The current way is just easier. It also helps I don't play real world mods I guess, so exact dates don't really matter much.   4. Yes, that is what I said. Like, literally what I said. Just worded differently.

     

     

     

    I get they are all honest mistakes. the testers or someone should have noticed the game missing one of the most useful things in the entire game! That's like forgetting to add the refinement option when booking matches. You can not forget something so important! They did a ton right, the meat of the game is really fun. I'm not knocking the main game. I'm just shocked something like that got missed.

  5. Let’s use WWF as an example for where dynamic product style would work.

     

    1996: WWF is losing their audience to WCW. Russo comes in and the WWF throughout the next couple of years gradually change their product and WWF 1999 is quite a different product to 1996. Its risker, bloodier and shorter matches in general geared towards brawls (Austin as their main star had to change his style to brawling due to injuries and his character etc so it made sense from an in-ring style to favour brawling).

     

    That’s one change. But then...

     

    Austin retires and Angle, Benoit, Guerrero etc take centre stage and I’d argue that their style was geared a little more to technical wrestling and longer matches in 2004. There’s still a bit of t&a but not as much as 1999. Hell, even 2000 was slightly different to 1998/1999 due to the booker Russo leaving, PTC and the more technical midcard.

     

    Cena then takes centre stage and they decide to go a bit more PG dropping certain risqué things.

     

    Get to today and women are featured more in-ring as to where a women’s match main evented their major show.

     

    These weren’t straight changes, the WWF conditioned their fans over time to adjust to the changes.

    Yea, that's a neat idea. But if I were to make a TEW, I'd throw products by the wayside entirely, and replace the product concept by populating the game world with different demographics. Age groups, genders, etc. All with their strengths and weaknesses in terms of what advertisers they attract, what their level of disposable income is, etc, etc. You would be told which demos like what, and you'd choose a target demo to attract, and book accordingly. The likes and dislikes of the demos in the game world could be dynamic and would be changing with the game.

  6. The WWE is a bad example to use in the product discussion imo since WWE is a special case where the product is technically aimed at kids, but the average WWE consumer is like 40+ or something. My point being that they're all over the place with their "product". They have the target demographic of X, but really their consumer demographic is Y. They can just get away with being a mess because of who they are.
