Flair and Arn talk about how they can turn the tide against the nWo while Bischoff questions if they can get the support behind them, since the nWo has been running over everyone. 3. Trying to get the cruiserweights over is turning into quite the challenge. TEW doesn't react the way the crowd did back then, where their high spots would compensate for their lack of popularity. Benoit/Mongo vs Nasty Boys pulled a 63 overall. Benoit lead the way with a 66 in-ring. He had broken fingers and still managed to carry it. The only thing for sure about Sting... The Giant's path depends on the path of others. Let's just say, he's on the fence of a number of things right now. I'm not a fan of non-clean finishes either, but it is what was happening around this time so it works. Part of the story arc also. I signed the Pitbulls the first week of September, just to try and strengthen the midcard/lower midcard tag picture. WCW often used face and heel jobbers when going against an upper/main event team. I'm not a big fan of that as often as they did it. Also, I'm re-purposing WCW Clash of the Champions and need some teams to be established. More on that down the road. So far, drug use hasn't been a problem. I don't test, so I'm sure that will come back to bite me at some point. Sadly, I didn't know much about the Pitbulls
  4. WCW Monday Nitro Monday Week 2 October 1996 University Park, PA 13,369 in Attendance Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcome everyone to WCW Monday Nitro, recapping last week's main event and hyping tonight's show. Juventud Guerrera vs. Dean Malenko In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Dean Malenko defeated Juventud Guerrera in 10:34 by submission with a Texas Cloverleaf. The nWo come out to the ring to address Sting's statement last week. They ask him to join the nWo, where he can rebuild his loyalty. Sting comes to the ring, but this is not the Sting we remember from just a week ago. This Sting is wearing all black, with a trenchoat and black & white facepaint! Kevin Nash and Scot Hall take turns appealing to Sting, telling him joining the nWo is a sure thing. Sting looks at DiBiase and says he don't think they can afford him, and that the only thing sure about Sting, is nothing's for sure. Sting hands the mic back to Hall, then exits the ring for the back. Jerry Flynn vs. Wallstreet In an abysmal match, Wallstreet defeated Jerry Flynn in 7:31 by pinfall with a Stock Market Crash. Mean Gene Okerlund is backstage with the Four Horsemen! Before The Enforcer let's Gene start, Arn says that it's clear WCW has made a great mistake with Sting and he fears the worst. Flair comes in and says tonight, they have the chance to take a shot at the nWo, when they face the Outsiders. Eddy Guerrero vs. Super Calo In a match that wasn't too interesting, Eddy Guerrero defeated Super Calo in 8:15 by pinfall with a Frogsplash. Backstage, Mean Gene is with Lex Luger. Luger says that he heard Sting's words in the ring earlier tonight, and claims he's been misunderstood and could be responsible for this. Before Luger is able to continue, the camera catches Sting heading through the back to a door exiting the arena. Luger runs up to try to talk with him, but Sting turns back, smirks, then exits the arena leaving Gene without words and Luger frustrated. The Horsemen vs. The Nasty Boys In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, The Horsemen (Boniot & Mongo) defeated Nasty Boys in 8:18 when Steve McMichael pinned Jerry Sags with a Mongo Spike. After the victory, The Outsiders come out and approach the announcer's booth, where Eric Bischoff stands up indimidated, but with microphone in hand. The Outsiders say they've been waiting for a challenge, but if any ol' team wants to step up they can. Nash shoves Bischoff back into his chair as Hall taunts a passing Benoit and McMichael. Jim Powers vs. The Giant In an extremely short match, The Giant defeated Jim Powers in 1:17 by pinfall with a Chokeslam. Right after the pinfall, The Giant abruptly exits the ring, stalking to the back much to the confusion of Jimmy Hart. Brad Armstrong vs. Diamond Dallas Page In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Diamond Dallas Page defeated Brad Armstrong in 7:52 by pinfall with a Diamond Cutter. Mean Gene Okerlund cuts a promo backstage on the WCW Hotline, where he claims WCW management have offered the perfect contract to an outside individual! Kids, get your parents permission before dialing! The Horsemen vs. The Outsiders In a bout that had sensational wrestling and fantastic heat, The Horsemen (Arn & Flair) defeated The Outsiders in 11:51 via disqualification when Randy Savage ran in and attacked Ric Flair. The nWo hit the ring to jump Arn Anderson and Ric Flair until Chris Benoit and Steve McMichael backup Arn and Flair. They get a moment of offense in before the nWo overwhelm them. Kevin Nash picks up Chris Benoit and drops him with a Powerbomb as Nitro fades to black. WCW Saturday Night Saturday Week 2 October 1996 Chris Jericho def. Psychosis American Males def. 5. The best thing I realized is HTML like div tags work, and you can reference an outside stylesheet. Makes life amazing, just minify the code before you post or you get a lot of whitespace.
  6. It's important for me to keep things related to what actually happened, so you can step back and say "That could have happened!". So, you'll see some tie-ins with a small twist. As far as the nWo, so far there have been nothing but words. No one can compete right now, and with Syxx winning the Cruiserweight championship so quickly, it's clear they have some pull, brother!
  7. WCW Monday Nitro Monday Week 1 October 1996 Lafayette, LA 13,369 in Attendance Ric Flair opens WCW Monday Nitro coming down to the ring. Flair cuts a promo on War Games and his lack of involvement, saying that when a Horsemen isn't in War Games, you're bound to lose. He calls Hogan the worst thing to happen to professional wrestling, then wraps his promo up by calling Sting a coward. Brad Armstrong vs. Dean Malenko In a sligtly lopsided match, Dean Malenko defeated Brad Armstrong in 11:56 by submission with a Texas Cloverleaf. Announcers discuss Sting not showing up last night at War Games, leading to the loss for WCW. Mean Gene is standing by with Leex Luger backstage. Luger says that he is dissapointed, but not caught by surprise by the betrayal of Sting. Luger says it's obvious Sting is part of the New World Order, leaving WCW to fight an unfair fight last night. Jerry Flynn vs. The Giant In an extremely short match, The Giant defeated Jerry Flynn in 1:45 by pinfall with a Chokeslam. An nWo paid announcement airs, with the nWo all gloating on their War Games win last night. Scott Hall holds up an nWo t-shirt and tells everyone it's just Sting's size. Bobby Eaton vs. Diamond Dallas Page In a decent match, Diamond Dallas Page defeated Bobby Eaton in 12:13 by pinfall with a Diamond Cutter. After the match, DDP works the crowd with the Diamond Cutter hand gesture as we fade to commercial break. WCW World Cruiserweight Championship Syxx vs. Rey Mysterio Jr © In a decent match, Syxx defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. in 13:03 by pinfall with a handful of tights to win the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship! Ted DiBiase comes out and announces the newest member of the nWo... Wallstreet! Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs. Wallstreet In a match that brought things down a notch, Wallstreet defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. in 9:45 by pinfall with a Stock Market Crash. Unscheduled, Sting comes down to the ring and begins talking to the live WCW Monday Nitro crowd with his back to the camera. Sting says that while he was uncharcateristically running late last Sunday, on his way to the arena, he got a call from a friend watching Fall Brawl. Sting says he was disgusted in the distrust he felt from Ric Flair, and from Lex, his best friend. So, he decided to turn around and head back to the hotel, then go home. Sting says that for years, he has been the franchise of WCW, and while other so-called wrestlers loyal to WCW, have at some point been up in New York. Not the Stinger. Sting says for those real fans out there, for the guys in the back who decided that the Stinger was WCW like Scott Steiner, thank you. Sting says that he is now declaring himself a free agent, and is taking his loyalty back and may decide to place that loyalty elsewhere. He says while he will still be around from time to time, he no longer answers to WCW management. Sting sets the mic down on the canvas and begins to leave the ring. As he does, he truns around and picks the mic back up. Sting says for all of the announcers, fans and best friends who ever doubted Sting's loyalty? They can all stick it. Sting exits the ring and goes to the back to a speachless announce team. Lex Luger vs Scott Hall In an exceptional match, Lex Luger defeated Scott Hall in 12:06 when Scott Hall was disqualified when Kevin Nash ran in and attacked Lex Luger. As the bell rings, The Outsiders continue to beat down Luger, with Hall delivering an Outsider's Edge. With Luger laid out in the ring, Hollywood Hogan comes out and applaudes in approval as The Outsiders taunt the crowd as Nitro comes to an end! 8. WCW Fall Brawl Sunday Week 4 September 1996 Shreveport, LA 48,331 in Attendance Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Dusty Rhodes welcome everyone to WCW Fall Brawl, and hype the card, focusing on the main event; War Games, Diamond Dallas Page vs. Marcus Bagwell In an opening match that saw both men go all out for the crowd, Diamond Dallas Page defeated Marcus Bagwell in 8:20 by pinfall with a Diamond Cutter. WCW World Cruiserweight Championship Eddy Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. © In a highly anticipated Cruiserweight Championship match where Mike Tenay was a guess commentator, Eddy Guerrero and Rey Mysterio did not disapoint in a high-spot match as Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Eddy Guerrero in 13:32 by pinfall with a Springboard Huracarrana to retain the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship. As Mysterio helps Eddy up and shakes his hand, Syxx comes out with a video camera, recording Rey in the ring for a few moments before heading to the back. Tony Schiavone goes backstage to Mean Gene Okerlund. Mean Gene reports that Sting has yet to show up and he'll report back as soon as he can get a word with Sting. WCW World Television Championship Konnan vs. Lord Steven Regal © In a match that was met with a quiet crowd, Lord Steven Regal defeated Konnan in 15:08 by submission with a Regal Stretch to retain the WCW World Television Championship. Backstage, Mean Gene is standing by with Lex Luger and the Steiner Brothers. Gene asks about Sting and before Lex can answer, Scott Steiner says that Sting will be here when it's time to hit the ring, because Sting is the face of WCW and tonight, they will take back what is theirs. Chris Benoit vs. Kevin Sullivan In a straight-up brawl, Chris Benoit defeated Kevin Sullivan in 12:02 by pinfall with a Diving Headbutt, despite having his fingers broken earlier in the macth by Kevin Sullivan. Backstage, the nWo is with Mean Gene. Hollywood Hogan says tonight is when all the doubt is cleared and the powerful stand. Hogan says he don't care who steps into War Games tonight, because the nWo is walking out on top. Harlem Heat vs Nasty Boys In a decent match, Harlem Heat defeated Nasty Boys in 12:14 when Booker T pinned Jerry Sags with a Heat Seeker. Backstage, Mean Gene catches up with Lex Luger and the Steiner Brothers and asks if they are going to the ring without Sting? Scott Steiner pats Gene on the back and says we've got it and head to the ring. War Games New World Order vs. World Championship Wrestling In a highly anticipated match, the New World Order met World Champtionship Wrestling in War Games. The ongoing drama between Lex Luger and Sting continue tonight in a big way, with Sting apparently no-showing the match, leaving Luger and the Steiner Brothers to go against the New World Order a man down. The match is quite exceptional, but the one man disadvantage was too much. At 23:18, Lex Luger passes out in a camel clutch by Hollywood Hogan for a decisive victory for the New World Order. After the match as the two-ringed cage rises and trash begins to fill the ring, the New World Order stand tall in a ring with Luger and the Steiners laid out in the ring. Have a Merry Christmas and if you don't, this guy will deck your halls! Check out the Oct 1 1996 Roster Update. Returning in 2021!
  9. WCW Monday Nitro Monday Week 4 September 1996 Los Angeles, CA 13,288 in Attendance The screen fades from black at 8:57pm Eastern as we see Sting entering the arena! With a duffel bag slung across his shoulder, Sting looks to be all business tonight, wearing sunglasses and no face paint. Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Booty Man In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Diamond Dallas Page defeated The Booty Man in 8:40 by pinfall with a Diamond Cutter. After his match, Diamond Dallas Page is met in the ring by Mean Gene Okerlund. Page says that for years, he's been the hardest working man in professional wrestling and the bozos in the office can keep lining them up, because he will hit a Diamond Cutter every week on his way to the top. Chris Jericho vs. Disco Inferno In an abysmal match, Disco Inferno defeated Chris Jericho in 5:34 by pinfall with a quick rollup. Ted DiBiase is backstage on his phone talking to someone, telling them he'll see them next week, before walking away. Billy Kidman vs. Rey Mysterio, Jr. In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Billy Kidman in 11:34 by pinfall with a Top Rope Huracanrana. Mike Tenay is standing by the enterance ramp as Rey Mysterio Jr walks up. Tenay announces that he's excited to see the lucha style brought to WCW, and this weekend at Fall Brawl, he will defend his championship against Eddy Guerrero. Mysterio says he's looking forward to working with his long time fan, and putting on quite the match. They are "Unimportant", so my Nitro options for them are limited. I have a few guys I need to move to the "Recognizable" perception working some Nitro pre-show matches in an attempt to help them out.
