  2. W*ING, as well as some time in FMW. Jericho is a lot more over than Awesome pretty much everywhere in-game, but I'm now just running through what I was intending to do, so that's not an issue. Jericho, for comparison, was working in Canada for CNWA and WFWA from the start of the game, had a tour in ULL and since joining WCW has had a tour in SWS as well. However, a big, athletic guy like Awesome would get over quickly, and Jericho would know full well that the TV title in this period is akin to pass-the-parcel - not meaningless, but you want to be holding the belt at the end of the cycle rather than getting the little packs of sweets along the way. A heavy loss in this match would ding him a bit, but he's in his early 20s and part of the Horsemen, so one bad loss here as part of the storyline wouldn't be too big a deal. He'd also know that I regarded him as a very hot prospect on the Steve Austin/Brian Pillman route, of course!
  3. Are they a picture type supported by the game? I’m not sure all formats are.
  4. Definitely! I looked through his career record and could only find one reference to him losing by submission in his whole career - as Vinnie Vegas, to Bill Kazmaier, of all people. Even Hogan did more submission jobs than Nash!

Is there a good way to increase both wrestlers popularities in a feud? Overlay different feuds to create a tangled story web, or just deploy your platoon of enhancement talents to lay down for your guys in active feuds; A loss in a PPV can easily be offset by a couple of strong performances in TV against names a notch or two lower on the card.</p>

He was intercepted by Diamond Dallas Page, who slid into the ring and slugged the Warrior across the back of the head with a roll of silver dollars. Warrior staggered as Page dived out of the ring, but even though the blow seemed to be glancing at worst, Warrior was vulnerable as Kimberly directed Studd into the ring. That gave Studd all the advantage he needed to hammer on Warrior, but even with the powerful Studd throwing everything he had at him, Warrior grabbed hold of the ropes and shook them hard, seemingly drawing strength from the motion as Studd looked on in horror as his hardest blows failed to register.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Look out Studd!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Warrior turned on his heel, pointing at Studd before charging across the ring at him and levelling him with a shoulderblock. The referee turned to see Michaels’ head hit with a sickening thud, and he quickly called for the bell to throw the match out – although as he pointed first to Warrior, then his ears, then to Michaels, and then to his eyes, he made it clear to Gary Michael Cappetta that the result was a </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div bitter enemies on opposite sides of the aisle – this match allowed them to revisit that rivalry somewhat, but with some additional experience and a much greater willingness to play foul under his belt, Pillman was able to meet Vicious as much more of an equal. And when things started to get hot for him, Scott Steiner was more than willing to test his mettle against the towering Vicious. But as the match progressed, it became clear that Pillman really had his sights set on Steamboat, and he took every opportunity to try and lure the NWA World champion into action.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> While Steamboat was too experienced and too smart to fall for Pillman’s goading, his protégé Marcus Bagwell seemed to feel the need to defend Steamboat’s honour. Getting caught in the other side’s corner, Bagwell was subjected to a heavy beating that left him helpless for much of the match, and while his side rallied somewhat, Bagwell was vulnerable enough that Pillman was able to fell him with a System Crash for the win – his eyes locked on Steamboat as the referee counted to three.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Schiavone: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">And we’ll hear more from Brian Pillman soon, I’ve no doubt.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">And I expect to hear from Scott Steiner very soon – now he’s seen how good a fit for the Dangerous Alliance he would be!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="r6434EK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/r6434EK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="BiyIlky.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BiyIlky.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="q8m9fFW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/q8m9fFW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XtjeDny.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XtjeDny.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="thpvZLl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/thpvZLl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Arn Anderson and Ric Flair vs. The Malenkos</strong></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> WCW’s fans are well known for their appreciation of great technical wrestling, and they got to see it here as both Malenkos proved themselves quite capable of holding their own against the Horsemen. Anderson seemed to relish testing himself against the brothers, while the Nature Boy seemed a little surprised by their ability, but quickly upped his game to meet them hold-for-hold. The Malenkos might even have had the match won when Dean locked Arn into a Texas Cloverleaf in the centre of the ring, but Flair was able break off from fighting Joe to make the save with a boot to the back of the head. From there the Horsemen rallied as Anderson delivered a spinebuster to Joe on the outside that had Harley Race almost tearing his hair out. Isolated, Dean fought hard and almost snatched victory with a sharp roll-up on Flair, but quick thinking on the part of Tammy and Fifi at ringside saw them grab Flair’s free hand and pull it under the bottom rope. The referee had no choice but to break the count – to Dean and Race’s disgust. As Dean objected, Flair caught him from behind with a chop block and went right to work on his knee. While Race tried to rouse Joe on the outside, Flair made quick-but-devastating work of the younger of the brothers, forcing a submission in the centre of the ring just as Joe got to his feet.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Schiavone: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">That was closer than the Horsemen will have liked – and what if Fifi and Tammy weren’t at ringside?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">But they were, and no doubt Flair would say that he </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>always</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> has the ladies on his side.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Schiavone: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">And that makes it Horsemen 1, Kingdom 1 on the night...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pjsaE0p.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pjsaE0p.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#800080;">WCW United States Title</span></strong></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="yLYFp2N.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yLYFp2N.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="q8m9fFW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/q8m9fFW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3QAQ87s.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3QAQ87s.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Michael Hayes vs. Steve Austin ©</strong></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Hayes has worked hard to get in the best shape of his career to take on the fast-rising Superstar, and it showed as he matched Austin move for move in the opening minutes. Austin seemed surprised by Hayes’ endurance and bailed out of the ring to consult Madusa. Sting, however, showed remarkable agility and resilience to leap high and snatch the foreign object from Vegas’ hand. With the referee still unsighted, Sting slugged Vegas hard in the jaw, staggering the big man. The blow wasn’t enough to fell him, and the way Sting shook out his hand made it clear that the blow had hurt him as well – but Vegas was vulnerable, and as he stumbled back into the corner of the ring Sting launched himself forward with a Stinger Splash. Vegas toppled forward to the mat with a crash as Sting grabbed at his legs, turning him over into the Scorpion Deathlock as the brawling at ringside was finally brought under control.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Vegas is stuck – and the referee is giving him his full attention!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Oh, now </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>he’s</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> looking – what about when Sting used an illegal weapon! 8. March – April: Towards Clash Of The Champions XXVIII Sting opened the first Saturday Night after beating Owen Hart with a clear message: “I’ll fight anyone, because this title says that I’m the best of the best and that means being ready to take on any challenger. So if you want to take this from me, all you have to do is cross the line – No, not some imaginary line in the sand, not the line drawn by the ropes, but the line between the locker room and the arena. You, any one of you, who comes out here looking to fight... If you want to fight me, if you think you’re ready to fight me, then I’ll fight you, and I’ll keep fighting, one by one, because as long as I’m breathing, this belt stays mine!” The champion was true to his word, clashing with Mike Awesome, Chris Jericho and Tracy Smothers in the next few weeks. After seeing off Smothers, Sting was confronted by the Diamond Studd, who was flanked by Kimberly Page and DDP. “Hey, Sting, I figured I’d cross the line ahead of the Clash. Seems like you need yourself a dance partner for the big show, so how about-“ Vinnie Vegas nearly decapitated Sting with a big boot to the head, blindsiding the World champion. Vegas smiled broadly as he stood over Sting, the other members of the group joining him in the ring as the fans jeered and booed. “How about we flip a coin and see which one of us gets to leave the Clash with three titles?” Kimberly drew a roll of silver dollars from her décolletage and DDP quickly took them from her before either of his charges could. Flipping one of the coins he let Studd call – tails, but to Vegas’ delight the coin landed heads up: And soon enough the WCW hotline confirmed that it would be Vegas facing Sting for the WCW World title at the Clash! * For Brian Pillman, the comedown from World title contender to the third man in the diminished Dangerous Alliance was a hard one. No matches for several weeks saw Pillman champing at the bit for a challenge, and he practically charged into battle against Barry Windham. But if he was looking for a chance to really prove himself in search of a rematch with Sting, he was further frustrated by the appearance of Scott Steiner, once more interfering in one of Windham’s matches ahead of Clash XXVII. Pillman’s response promised trouble: “I guess if I can’t get any traction here in WCW... there’s always the NWA!” And so reports began to come in of Pillman appearing at shows run by other members of the National Wrestling Alliance, lobbying for a title match against Ricky Steamboat, even interrupting matches to do so. That earned Commissioner Ventura a number of angry phonecalls and letters from his fellow power brokers, and in return he was forced to dispatch several of WCW’s biggest names to appear on NWA shows and pour oil on troubled waters. “I don’t mind helping out the NWA when it suits me, Brian, but I want WCW talent appearing on WCW shows! And that’s what we’re going to have, because you’ll be fighting Ricky Steamboat for the NWA World title – not at the Clash, where you can make big money, but on free television where you bring in the ratings and advertising money for this company!” The match was, as you might expect, spectacular. Steamboat was dogged in his defence of the NWA gold, while Pillman was relentless and inventive in his assault. Only Steamboat’s resilience and evident desire to maintain his grip on the title seemed to keep Pillman from snatching it away, and as Saturday Night went off the air the pair continued fighting, unheeding of the audience at home being unable to keep watching. With matters unresolved, and both men calling for a rematch, Ventura decided on a compromise – the pair would be joined by their allies in six-man tag action at the upcoming Clash... * But while one of Pillman’s allies was Owen Hart, the other was not Steve Austin or even Rick Rude – rather, Scott Steiner would join the Calgary Connection in the match. ‘The Animal’ had been feted by the Dangerous Alliance for weeks following his defeat of Barry Windham, and agreed to side with the Connection for the match as a ‘taster’ for how he could work with the Alliance. “And once you’ve seen how well it all works, I’m quite certain that you and I will make you and the rest of the Alliance a lot of money!” Dangerously declared. Austin, meanwhile, was preoccupied with Michael Hayes – the Freebird having defended his Television title successfully five times. Heading into the Clash, Hayes had demanded a United States title match against Austin, and used his interview time to needle the ‘Superstar’ ahead of the show. Austin, normally happy to jaw with an opponent, for once had little to say – other than stating that he would make Hayes regret ever crossing his path. * The Television title had been with Hayes for the weeks after Clash XXVII, but once he vacated the title it was Dean Malenko who claimed the gold in the first title victory for the revamped Kingdom. Malenko managed two successful defences, but fell at the third hurdle to one of the Horsemen, Chris Jericho. The young Canadian was set to enter Clash XXVIII as champion... but with the hulking Mike Awesome on the opposite side of the ring, he was far from certain to leave with the gold! * With Vinnie Vegas occupied at the Clash, there would be no tag title defences. That didn’t mean that the rest of the Diamond Exchange had the night off; Following a series of interviews where Ultimate Warrior and Cactus Jack mocked the champions for taking time off, the Diamond Exchange jumped the duo backstage. That led to a six-man match as Warrior and Cactus joined forces with Sting to battle their mutual foes in the main event of the pre-Clash Saturday Night, but which delivered no decisive outcome as Vegas was disqualified for hitting Sting with a chair. Commissioner Ventura ordered Shawn Michaels and Diamond Studd to face Warrior and Cactus at the Clash – and if the fan favourites won, then they would receive a shot at both the Diamond Mine’s titles the following Saturday Night! * If the York Foundation has an unbreakable rule when it comes to their investments, it’s this: Always bet on gold. With their NWA titles in the hands of Ricky Steamboat and co, the Foundation shifted their focus to the WCW Six Man titles. Luchamerica had been defending the titles against all comers, and it seemed like the Foundation would be just another challenge – but Alexandra York kept everyone guessing as she refused to confirm which three members of her group would be challenging for the belts, and each combination was given the chance at televised and live events to build chemistry ahead of the show. * After the wild brawl between the two sides at Clash XXVII, members of the Horsemen and the Kingdom clashed repeatedly over the following month, with the Television title in play during some of these meetings. Whether or not there was a decisive end to these matches, they always turned into confrontations between the two sides, and eventually Jesse Ventura ordered a tag match at the Clash – with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson putting themselves forward for the Horsemen. After careful deliberation Harley Race announced that it would be the Malenkos representing the Kingdom. “Ric, you and Arn are tight, and you’ve been a good team in the past... but these men are brothers, trained by one of the greatest ever in Boris Malenko, and they’ve surpassed him as technicians. It wouldn’t matter which two of you came into this match, but I’m glad that it’s you and Arn, because when Dean and Joe break you down you’ll have no excuses!” * WCW Clash Of The Champions XXVIII Sting © vs. Vinnie Vegas – WCW World Title Michael Hayes vs. Steve Austin © – WCW United States Title Ricky Steamboat, Marcus Bagwell and Sid Vicious vs. The Calgary Connection and Scott Steiner Arn Anderson and Ric Flair vs. The Malenkos Ultimate Warrior and Cactus Jack vs. The Diamond Studd and Shawn Michaels Chris Jericho © vs. Mike Awesome – WCW Television Title Luchamerica © vs. The York Foundation – WCW Six Man Titles <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> <o:TargetScreenSize>1024x768</o:TargetScreenSize> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->
  9. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/cornellverse/column_top10.html #5 It's a shame Adam doesn't update the site anymore - although I guess I understand why as so much goes into the bios, and maybe he doesn't want to bog down players and diarists with too much 'lore'. But things like the above the Art Reed profile contributed so much to the characters way back when.
  10. Lots of matches against people who've got better stats than them, especially at a young age. This is, of course, assuming that nothing's changed in that regard from 2016! Workers develop faster at a younger rate. They developer faster when working more often. They develop faster when facing people better than them. They will also develop with experience generally, but more slowly than they will get with regular match time. One other thing to consider is that it's relatively easy to develop skills in the low end of the range. The higher a worker's skill in any area is, the harder it is for them to improve. Over the years I've seen lots of worker in developmental feds and just generally in my companies quickly developing their Puro skill from single digits up into the 30s or even higher - because they only need a little practise to become below average in a skill, and lots of workers are average/below average in Puro and can share that knowledge. But getting that skill up further is likely to need time in Japan - or working against a lot of Japanese imports.
  11. Exactly that, Nickman. I've only run one so far, but once I had the first round set up, the game 'knew' that the subsequent matches were tourney matches. To be on the safe side, I positioned the matches in the tournament on the card exactly as I'd set out the tournament, so match 1 in the tournament was the first match I booked on the show, for example. I also kept the workers on their 'draw' side of the match, so the winner of match 1 in the quarter-final was listed first in the semi-final match and so on - but I doubt that's really necessary!
  12. My favourites: Warrior, Bret, Jericho... I probably need a third, but Jericho's stayed relevant for the better part of 25 years. Ridiculous. I'd probably have Michaels on there, maybe, but it's tough to choose. Warrior and Bret were my favourite as a kid, anyway - maybe Jericho twice, separate entries for 1997-2005 and then 2008-present? But for an American Mount Rushmore of wrestling I'd only have four names to go on: Hogan, Austin, Flair and Undertaker. Hogan transcended wrestling and truly took it beyond the niche market - twice. He was 'done' in 1993 when he left WWF, a shadow his Rock n Wrestling self, and then he reinvented himself by going Hollywood and kicked off the second of the great wrestling booms. Austin was the man who topped Hogan - the biggest draw ever in wrestling, a merchandising machine, he scratched and clawed his way to the very top of the business and took it even further into the mainstream than Hogan did in the 80s. Austin 3:16 overtook the nWo and those shirts were everywhere. Flair is the greatest wrestler we've ever had - even if you have to take shifting expectations into account. He captivated audiences nationwide for a decade, was the NWA's true figurehead, working anything up to an hour per match night after night, mastered storytelling in a way no-one before him did and set the bar very, very high for those that followed. Take 1985 Flair and drop him into today's business, and I'm certain he'd adapt and be as big a deal as anyone. Undertaker has had unparalleled longevity, turning a cartoon gimmick into something with astonishing longevity - and that simply wouldn't happen if he weren't a fantastic wrestler and entertainer. Think of wrestlers like IRS, Nailz or Berzerker who also debuted in WWF in the early 90s - no-one has come close to the same last impact that Undertaker has, and he only seemed to get better with time as his character developed, as he had his very best matches in his 40s, when most wrestlers are winding down their careers. Of course you have to consider someone like Sting, but he never broke out the way Hogan or Austin did. Rock was huge, and charisma-wise tops Austin, Hogan, Flair - and everyone else! But his full-time career was barely 4 years. Cena would be in the running for longevity, but again hit a ceiling way below Austin or Hogan. Bret had the quality, but wasn't really trusted as The Man either in WWF or WCW. Michaels was just too unreliable first time around, and second time around preferred to be the man behind the man, as it were. Angle would be the other name in the running for me - multiple world titles, possibly the most natural wrestler I've seen in 30 years as well as being ridiculously entertaining as a character... but like Bret he was never really The Man, and he spent so much of his career doing his best to elevate TNA which is laudable, but kept him away from the brightest of spotlights. And while he was before my time, Bruno Sammartino was a massive draw for the WWWF in two long, long reigns. Like Flair, you have to adjust for the time - there's no way of really knowing how he'd have played outside the northeast, and the business has changed so much since his time it's hard to say how he'd have done today. But he drew so well for so long (more than 11 years as champion), he certainly deserves to be in the discussion.
  13. I've successfully run feds with only the vaguest idea of how 'good' my workers are before - your fans will tell you who they want to see by responding positively (or negatively) to worker performances. For example, if you have two guys deliver a hot match in the midcard, book them separately next time and see if one of them was responsible and deserves a push, or if they have chemistry and a longer feud between them could benefit them both in the long run. While it's certainly worth taking time at game start to get to know your workers, you quickly get a feel for your company, especially if you avoid the temptation to sign new talent all the time. Keep a strong core of long-term talent to build around, I suggest, and you should also benefit from their ongoing exposure keeping the crowds interested.
  14. <p>Adam covered the thinking behind the broad array of types in the developer journal, specifically at <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2343609&postcount=30" rel="external nofollow">http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2343609&postcount=30</a></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="48096" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>The types of broadcasters have been expanded; there are still Pay-Per-View, Commercial, Free-To-Air, and Subscription, but each of those now has three versions, Terrestrial, Cable, and Internet. So that makes twelve in total. (I'm not sure there's actually such a thing as Terrestrial PPV in reality, but it would actually be more work to take it out, so I've left it in - it might be useful to someone somewhere down the line.)<p> </p><p> The difference between the three new sets is one of power. Terrestrial offer the greater revenue sources but are the most demanding and hardest to negotiate with, whereas Internet broadcasters offer the least revenue per viewer but are pretty undemanding. This adds in a new layer of strategy when it comes to choosing who to deal with, as well as allowing things like iPPV to be properly simulated.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> While the CVerse is close to our own world, it's not meant to be an exact replica, so things may work a little differently there.</p><p> </p><p> Cable subscription would be a wholly separate channel over and above any other cable deal, I believe. Here in the UK, for example, several football clubs have their own TV channels - and long, long ago Vince McMahon was considering the WWE Network as a TV channel that <em>just</em> aired WWE programming (and probably infomercials overnight).</p>
  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Vocalite" data-cite="Vocalite" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47568" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Are the icons of the CV wrestlers going to be updated before the final release? It's really jarring to see the massive difference between some of the old AF pictures that are from like 2008 and the newer ones from today. Some great newer pictures for the wrestlers have already been made by now by fans for mods, and it would take almost no effort to just copy them over. <p> </p><p> For 35$, I think that a basic quality like this should be expected. Leaving it this sloppy makes it seem as though the cornellverse is meant to be totally ignored in favor of WWE mods. This will also likely impact sales too. Even though it's small, it's something people notice when they try the trial.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Pictures do get updated - there are many changes from 2016 to 2020, as there were from 2013 to 2016 and so on.</p><p> </p><p> But not <em>every</em> picture will get changed. Some have been unchanged since at least 2008 (Off the top of my head, Fumihiro Ota has definitely been unchanged since then - but that's almost cheating since he's a masked indy guy - Tommy Cornell and the DeColt and Stone families haven't changed, to use a few more prominent examples). They've become established within the CVerse as those characters' identities, and changing them now would probably cause annoyance - especially as 'better looking' is such a subjective term, anyway. It'll be a long time before I give up my original Jay Chord picture, even if subsequent efforts have been 'better' as his first pic <em>is</em> Jay in my head.</p><p> </p><p> But yes, some have changed - Alicia Strong, Valiant, John Greed, Justin Sensitive, KC Glenn, Jay Chord, the Gauge/Keith twins, Matty Faith, both of the Bumfholes, Ranger, Zoe Ammis, Paige Croft... Just a few characters who've picked up new pictures either in this version or the last.</p><p> </p><p> But the default picture database has over 4,000 pictures for over 2,500 workers. Some of those pictures don't need updating, some probably do (clearly Adam felt some did as he used new pictures for some workers) but there aren't suitable pictures available. I doubt anyone much would care one way or another if Karl Dexter or the other long-time referees got broader stripes on their shirts rather than looking like they've come from a nightclub in 1988, for example, so there's no updated pics for them.</p><p> </p><p> One other thing to consider is that new pictures are looking a lot better - but they're mostly going to new workers. I ported over my picture folder from 2016 because I've been using it since at least 2010 and have a lot of updated/different pictures that Adam hasn't used - but, similarly, there are dozens of workers I had to update with new pictures from the 2020 picture folder.</p><p> </p><p> And there were about 380 workers who I've had to find pictures for, some who've been renamed (Jim Force, say, so I had to update the file names) but there were maybe 300 new workers across the game that I had to move the new pictures into my own folder. </p><p> </p><p> For older workers, the likes of Rich "same picture since 2005" Money, they're going to be retired soon enough. A lot of the characters who *do* have new pictures that I highlighted are young workers who are approaching or are in their prime - the core of the game world in 2016/2020, so it makes sense that Adam would pick out new pictures for them, especially as many of them debuted as teens/early 20s in either 2007 or 2008.</p><p> </p><p> One other thing to consider: The modding community has delivered a <strong>huge</strong> number of new pictures over the years, as you've noted. Many newer pictures in use in the game began life as Thunderverse characters and have been repurposed, others are re-renders of existing characters to give them more detail, bring in a more consistent lighting approach, up their metaphorical Star Quality, create whole new characters (Leper Messiah, for instance, was a drastic overhaul for an existing character based off a Joker-inspired render) or just to show off some new props someone had in their rendering software. All those have been delivered by the community. I'm not aware of Adam specifically requesting any of those - but they've been introduced over time into the game, and over time probably some of <em>those</em> will be replaced in turn.</p><p> </p><p> If graphics ever become a bigger part of the game, as they have been in WMMA which uses full-body renders, then I'd expect a more comprehensive overhaul of the pictures. Until then, I doubt it'll happen. I've been playing Football Manager even longer than I have TEW, and that game doesn't even ship with photos or club badges. For certain games, the graphics just aren't as much of a deal breaker as they would be in a bigger budget title.</p><p> </p><p> TL;DR: The character pictures are unlikely to change significantly between now and release date.</p>
  16. Yes, just click on the VS picture when in the match booking screen. You can change things around from there. I presume it automatically removes RA notes that aren't useful any more.
  17. I've just kept carrying over my picture folder from 2010 - now on it's 4th game. I'm having to update around 300 pictures, mainly importing new worker pictures from the default DB but also just catching up with name changes too. It's a small price to pay to keep my preferred pictures. I like some of the new renders, Adam likes different ones, and he's said before that he's very fond of some of the older renders... The option is there for people to mod it as they see fit, so I don't expect the renders to become uniform. I also tend to think of it as representative of the different production values across professional wrestling - but that works best when all companies have a uniform style, as has been said, and before too long workers move around and you have the TEW equivalent of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid but still wearing his PSG shirt...
  18. I've stupidly hit the Mass Edit button in the editor and wiped all the title holders - can someone share a copy of the default database so I don't have to mess around installing a second copy of the game, please?
  19. You can probably guess what I'm about to say... I went into the editor to look around, accidentally clicked on the Mass Edit button... and now all the championships in the CVerse are vacant! No big deal, I'll restore the database easily enough, I'm sure, but it may be a bigger issue for others!
  20. That'll be it - I was looking for 'Filter', 'Sort' or whatever. No doubt I'd have found it if I hadn't been skipping around like a gadfly trying to take it all in! * One change I love from previous games - you can now change match types and even participants without having to completely delete and rebook the match. Fantastic change!
  21. Check you're running the game in Administrator mode - right click on the TEW2020.exe in the game folder > Properties > Compatibility and tick "Run as administrator". Otherwise, it may be a bug, in which case report it in http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=269 Click on the arrow above their Popularity scores in their profile, it'll load a separate Contract Details section in that window, and you can release them there.
  22. I remember release day for... 2013, maybe? Someone got hold of the trial direct from the server and posted a screenshot of the title page to universal mockery because no-one thought it would look like that. Lo and behold... The demos have generally been well-received in the past, but I do wonder if part of the issue is the long build-up - much longer than in past games, as far as I can recall.
  23. Also trying to work this out. I have the first round of the Rip Chord Invitational set, but the semi-finals (and final) are TBD, and I don't know if I need to add them myself and they'll be recognised in-game as tourney matches, or what. I presume I can run the final and put the RCI trophy on the line - but it would be nice to know the whole thing will be recognised afterwards as a complete tournament. I guess I'll just try it and see!
  24. Okay, first impressions from a long-time player who's always adapted to changes going back to the launch of 2005 and all the subsequent additions. I apologise if I'm going over old ground from the last 24 hours, but it's a 45+ page thread, and I guess it's intended for reactions. I have looked over the last few hours and seen I'm not alone in some of my views... Thirded. The colours used in TEW over the years are so intuitive that I've used them for attributes in Football Manager for years now. I was never a fan of switching to numbers in the game, but I understood I was in the minority - and grades were always an option. But the colour shift is something that seems too counter-intuitive for long-time and newer players alike. Bright Red - Pastel Green - Bright Green - Yellow isn't a shade:grade system I recognise from anywhere else, and I can't say that it helps ease me into a wholly new UI, never really having played WMMA5. Losing match/show grades altogether... Well, okay, I don't care for it, but it is what it is. I prefer the slight vagueness of a B over an absolute 79, but what's done is done. Losing keyboard support is a massive pain for navigating through lists for me. I don't understand programming, I have no idea why that's gone, but I was disheartened to see it in the Dev Journal and having now had the chance to play around with it I'm sad to see it's as frustrating as I feared. It doesn't help that there seems to be a tiny dead zone between names, and clicking on it does nothing. I'm someone who uses keyboard shortcuts a lot, and 15 years playing TEW makes it first nature to me to do so. This change will take a lot of getting used to. (Also, no mouse wheel support!) I like the option to reorder the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. The Office screen is too cluttered. 40 small buttons with small font, everything in shades of black, gray and dark blue... Yes, everything is available in one place, but there's a lot of empty space with the Assistant/Quick Diary/etc. window taking up almost half the screen and the company profile/schedule at the top taking up a big chunk, too. MAW are now TCW's developmental company - as everyone's expected at least since Sam Keith took over, if not since they debuted in the game! Looking at the Training section, the Mid Atlantic Boot Camp isn't listed. I know it's closed, but I can't find a way to allow closed dojos/training schools to show up on the list as in previous games with Active/Inactive entries. The icons down the left side of the screen... I can't say I'm a fan of the change. It seems like an area where larger buttons with text would have been the better choice. All the white grids/black background when booking a show... Yeah, they hurt my eyes as well. Fortunately the main booking screen doesn't have them. A lot of these UI changes may simply be things I get used to, but cumulatively they're a massive departure from 2016, which in many ways wasn't too big a departure from previous games. Booking the Rip Chord Invitational show, I'm trying to run the titular tournament. I've set it up in the Tournament tab, but I'm not sure if I have to book the matches separately or if they're booked for me... Something to check the handbook about, I'm sure. Having separate move up/down buttons for every segment is really a strange setup. I know the segments are single-click now, but it's more moving of the mouse, and given how small the buttons are, I just know I'm going to move segments I don't mean to. Also, the shows are booked ME to opener again. Is the option to revert this still in the game? I'll probably add some more when I've had more time to play. EDIT: I see scrolling is something that can be enabled via the options screen. I'll do that when I come back to the game and see if it makes the experience a bit more friendly. (Apologies if this posts twice - my connection crashed first time I tried.)
  25. For TV/weekly shows, you don't have to have an epic main event - a good, shortish match between two over talents is fine. ME vs. UMC, for example, will get a good rating provided both are decent talents. If they're involved in different storylines then have something happen during the match that advances one/both of those. From memory (this came up some time ago, so I may be misremembering) there's a soft cap on match ratings when they're below 16 minutes - it's breakable with the right booking, but otherwise a short match will top out at a B rating unless you put the right circumstances together. For bigger events I tend to look for a long main event - 20-30 minutes, slow build, called in ring if at least one of the competitors has a high B+ for Psychology or better. I rarely use match aims for main events. Spectacle and Epic *should* be main event notes, but even after all these years there doesn't seem to a clear consensus on how to use them properly! I might use Open Match in the main event, but usually I don't unless there's a significant difference in push between the two sides. Having a midcarder show they can hang before losing to a main event guy makes sense, but otherwise I figure the two sides will be fairly even anyway - don't forget that if you don't use a specific category of road agent note, your agent will use their own judgement on what's best for the match. Storyline heat (if counted) and worker momentum, popularity, talent, charisma, consistency, physical condition, lifestyle issues (drink and drugs, primarily) and star quality, I believe, all factor into a match's overall rating, as well as chemistry between the two sides or two teammates. There's a lot going on in the game!
