1. February 2022 Week 3 Newsflash! Albert Thorp, owner of VWA, has said during a media call that the company’s next event, VWA Settle The Score, will NOT be main evented by Hercules Johansson vs. Cub Balowicz, despite what Herc said after his match with Abominable Snowman. Cub will be fined and suspended for the next show. As for Hercules, for trying to defy Thorp’s authority by attempting to book a match against Cub live on TV, Thorp has decided Hercules will be defending his European Title against an mystery opponent at Settle The Score! - Now, it’s time to get back to action, lovers of European wrestling! Let’s get into this week’s edition of EWA Weekly Warfare! - EWA Weekly Warfare #31 Attendance: 553. Location: Koln, Germany. Card: Steffen Strucker vs. EWA Tag Team Champion Kruge The Executioner The Globetrotters (Jason Dempsey & Eugen Samper) vs. Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) Christopher Lister & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Michael Gregory & The Minds of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) Future X (Petey Barnes & Eric Future) vs. EWA Tag Team Champion Byron & EWA Intercontinental Champion Paolo Gandalfini - The German crowd is enthusiastic as a new episode of Weekly Warfare is about to (sportly) entertain us! This is the first ever Weekly Warfare episode taking place in Koln, and the first EWA card taking place in Koln in over 3 years! Mark Stanford and Dougie Horwood run down the card, and they seem extremely excited by the main event of Future X versus Byron & Gandalfini! - w/ Byron and Gandalfini open the show As Byron music’s starts blasting, the whole crowd boos. Byron and Gandolfini come out to the ring, followed by Kruge The Executioner, who looks as pissed as always and occasionally stares daggers into the eyes of Gandalfini. Byron and Gandalfini enter the ring and ask for mics, while Kruge is told to patrol around the ring to ensure their safety. Byron: As always, it’s a blessing to be here in the rich and beautiful German wonderland that is Koln! Despite the nice words, the crowd boos Byron. Paolo: You can boo all you want, fine people, the fact of the matter is that we’re well aware you came here to see US! The crowd boos even harder, and chants of “Future X” can be heard after the booing stops. Byron: Future X are a respectable team indeed. But let’s be realistic, my admirers, if there’s anything I dislike, it’s people that think too highly of themselves (ain't that ironic?), and when Petey Barnes promised he’ll take Paolo’s title 2 weeks ago, I was shocked.. and I was even more shocked last week, when he said he wants a match between US! US! And him and his lil’ partner Eric Future… Paolo: Do you know how that made me feel, mr. Byron!? Byron: How did it make you feel, young Paolo? Paolo: IT DISGUSTED ME! Not only have I defeated Petey multiple times in 1 on 1 competition, not only has he dared drag my name through the mud, but then he thought he’s worthy of sharing the ring not only with me, the greatest and most good looking Intercontinental Champion in the history of EWA, but he also dared challenge the greatest and most good looking Tag Team Champion in the history of EWA, MISTER BYRON! Byron: It was truly a disturbing scene… Paolo: But wait, raising that disgusting challenge wasn’t enough! As I was about to bring justice for the Dutch boys’ vicious attack on poor Kruge, they dared stop me! Byron: If it’s anything I hate more than my wrestlers engaging in illegal in-ring activities, it’s wrestlers that hate seeing justice, Paolo, I can’t deny this… Byron looks deeply hurt and disappointed as he speaks about the actions of Future X from last week… But Paolo places his hands on Byrons back and says, in a reassuring manner: Paolo: I share your feelings of disappointment, mister Byron… but there’s one thing I can promise you: tonight, we’ll be handing mr. Barnes and mr. Future the receipts – we shall welcome them to our ring in the main event, and we shall show them the errors of their ways by humiliating them in the ring, with our superior skills! Byron: And our superior looks! Sounds like a beautiful plan, mister Gandalfini! And it will be so easy, we won’t even need Kruge around! With this, Byron and Paolo shake hangs and share another oily hug, as Kruge keeps patrolling around and looking mean. Byron: Enjoy this amazing edition of EWA’s Weekly Warfare, Koln! Byron’s music plays again, Byron & Paolo leave the ring and head backstage. Kruge remains ringside, as he’s scheduled to take part in the first match of the night. - vs. Match #1 – Steffen Strucker vs. EWA Tag Team ChampionKruge The Executioner This is only Strucker’s 2nd TV match after his herniated spinal disc finally healed! He wrestler the whole 2021 injured (and won 0 matches), and will be looking to show how good he is when fully fit now! Sadly for him, his first 1 on 1 match is against Kruge, so his chances are as slim as a toothpick. They get 5 minutes, and it’s 5 minutes of violent dominance for Kruge. Altho Steffen is still very green, Kruge manages to get a good reaction out of the crowd tearing him apart. He ends the match with The Beheading (Big boot into head stomp). Winner: Kruge The Executioner. - w/ vs. Match #2 – The Globetrotters (Eugen Semper & Jason Dempsey) w/ Krystyna vs. Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) At Madness in Bremen, The Globetrotters faced off against the NHS in a 3 v 3 tag that finished with Dempsey pinning Rashid. The babyface duo currently has a 6-1 record in 2 v 2 matches, as they’ve been wrestling mostly in trio tags. Also, their only 2 v 2 loss came in their tag debut, back in May of 2020. The NHS want to avenge their loss and they need to prove they are still not to be messed with despite starting to slow down due to their age. The two teams put on a pretty boring 13 minutes basic tag team match, where Dempsey is the only one who actually manages to look kinda good. The gimmicky nature of the characters does manage to keep the crowd somewhat engaged, tho. The match ends when, just like it happened at Madness in Bremen, Dempsey hits Rashid with the Rabid Bulldog (Jump from the from the 2nd rope into a bulldog) and got the pin. Winners: The Globetrotters. - vs. w/ Match #3 – Cristopher Lister & The Addams Family (Kalvin & Jimmi Addams) vs. Michael Gregory & The Minds Of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) w/ Colossal Karl Lister’s second EWA run has been a success up to this point, and it’s going extra well as he’s been featured constantly, only missing 1 episode of Weekly Warfare, and he’s on a 3 match winning streak! The Addams are looking to keep gaining momentum. Michael Gregory hasn’t really clicked with the EWA crowds yet, and things at the moment don’t look very positive for him, as he barely gets any reaction before The Minds Of Evil & Karl join him. The lads put on a fairly boring 17 minutes match. Sadly, just like last week, Milo is wrestling as if he’s 20 years older than he really is, and working with him is a mess for everyone, while Crusher and Kalvin also don’t click. The match’s end sees Lister tricking Michael Gregory into punching Crusher. Angered, Crusher locks in the Mind Crusher (Iron claw) on his partner, while Milo is alone in the ring, getting hit once more by the Addams with the Family Meeting (Jumping running knee to the chest from Kalvin and to the upper back from Jimmi). Jimmi pins Milo once again, while Karl unsuccessfully tries to get Crusher to stop crushing whatever’s left of Michael’s mind. It looks like the evil guys really need Landon Mallory if they are to have anyone take them seriously… Winners: Lister & The Addams. - vs. Match #4 – Future X (Petey Barnes & Eric Future) vs. EWA Tag Team Champion Byron & EWA Intercontinental Champion Paolo Gandalfini This is the first time we see Future X in tag team action since they lost the tag titles back in September of 2020! Still, Petey and Eric have often been featured together as having each other’s backs and also occasionally collaborating with Christopher Lister. You already know about Byron and Paolo! They’re cocky, they’re oiled up, muscular and looking like millions of bucks, and they always get boos while acting as if the whole world is bending down at their feet! The lads put on a good match, with Gandalfini and Barnes looking straight up great when they meet each other in the ring, and Byron and Future also holding their own weights properly! After 15 minutes, the heels decide to heel it up and as Byron is distracting the referee, Gandalfini goes down on one knee and punches Future right in the jewels, as Barnes explodes in anger in his corner. Gandalfini uses this moment to hit his finisher, the Chokeslam, on Future, and as Barnes was about to go and try to break up the pin, Kruge The Executioner appears out of thin air and drags Barnes off the apron! As soon as Gandalfini pins Future, Kruge starts beating up on poor Petey, while Gandalfini and Byron celebrate yet another cheap victory! Winners: Byron & Gandalfini. Christopher Lister comes running down the ramp and tries to help Petey overcome Kruge, but before he can do much, Byron and Gandalfini attack him like a pack of dire wolves! The show goes off with the image of The Rulers & Gandalfini standing high, raising their belts, and commentator Mark Stanford informs us we’re likely to see some form of Future X & Lister vs. The Rulers & Gandalfini on next week’s episode! - Show stats: - Show rating: 51. - Viewership: 50 044. - MOTN: Byron & Gandalfini vs. Future X. - And what a show we have for next week! Following the last episode of Weekly Warfare, Eric Future takes it to social media to let it be known that he feels Byron’s discourse about justice in wrestling disgusts him, since Gandalfini cheated by hitting him with a low blow for the win in the main event. To prove that he is a man of honor, Byron agreed to give Future the one on one match with Gandalfini he was originally supposed to get a few weeks ago, adding that he has 0 doubt that Paolo can beat Eric fair and square. These being said, let’s take a look at the card for Weekly Warfare #32! Card: Cassie O’Peter vs. Maisie Laurels The debut of Marianne’s talk show, „Marianne’s Specialty”! Jason Dempsey & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Ferdinand Arneaux & The Minds of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) Double Dutch (Frank Van Heer & Henrick Van Bon) vs. Team Amazement (Bam Bam Johansson & Michael Gregory) Petey Barnes & Christopher Lister vs. EWA Tag Team Champions The Rulers (Byron & Kruge The Executioner) (non-title match) EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Eric Future - And of course, let’s take a look at the predictions: DinoKea: 3/4. Not a bad start!
2. February 2022 Week 2 We move onto the next show of this week, VWA Budapest 2022! - VWA Budapest 2022 Attendance: 569. Location: Budapest, Hungary. Card: VWA European Championship: © Hercules Johansson vs. The Abominable Snowman Ultra Fly vs. Cub Balowicz The It Crowd (Lauro Giordano & Night Spyder) vs. Brecher & Grimm Lothar Prime vs. Thunderbolt Jasper January & Despair Faction (Randy Haute & Merle O’Curle) vs. Bret Heartbreak & Team Italia (Giancarlo Giabroni & Grando Alessandro) - Show opening We’re live from Hungary’s capital, with a crowd that’s not really hot. They’re probably a bit sceptic, as last year’s Budapest show was one of the worse VWA events of recent history, being full of underwhelming matches and angles. As Dick Kerley runs down the card, we see some of tonights stars arriving to the arena: the Abominable Snowman is walking with no luggage whatsoever, and everyone seems to be avoiding him – he’ll be fighting Hercules Johansson in the main event; Brecher & Grimm walk through the backstage as if they own the place; Cub Balowicz enters the arena wearing his “Cub KOs” hoodie and an open face balaclava, and before the camera can pan out, VWA European Champion Hercules Johansson seems to be passing by, and Cub is the first one to see him! Cub: HEY HERCULES! Cub tries to attack Herc with elbows and forearms, but Herc brushes them of and hits Cub with a body slam right there through a table and onto the concrete floor! Herc: Play stupid games, win painful prizes, Cub. Not cheesy at all, Herc... With an annoyed look, Herc lifts Cub up and smashes him into a nearby wall and hits some stomps on his downed rival, before he walks off as staff scream for medical help. The crowd seems to be a bit mild, as the extra hits felt a bit cheap from Hercules, and Cub’s selling also made him a bit sympathetic. - vs. Match #1 – Jasper January & Despair Faction (Randy Haute & Merle O’Curle) vs. VWA Tag Team Champion Bret Heartbreak & Team Italia (Giancarlo Giabroni & Grando Alessandro) Jasper is as cold as ever, coming off yet another loss in an unsuccessful tag title challenge last month. But the beloved crafty veterans that make up the Despair Faction are here to lend a hand, as their appearance gets a nice reaction from the fans. Ironically, Randy & Merle first tagged together against Jasper January, back in January 2020, and at a short time afterwards the Despair Faction was born. Bret Heartbreak is coming in to a decent booing reaction, and despite his current rivalry with his father, Byron, Bret does keep mimicking his mannerisms, which invites the booing fans to chant “Byon’s shadow”, and Bret responds by giving them the finger. Team Italia arrive to a decent reaction too. Grando Alessandro is the new name of Alessandro Giordano, as he now tries to distance from Lauro Giordano, who’s been a face for a while now. The boys put on a decent, but unmemorable and lengthy match. Haute has a hard time keeping with up with the boys, and Alessandro is still a pretty bad worker, so the heat of the match is pretty much lost whenever they enter the ring. The match ends when, after 22 long minutes, Bret Heartbreak hits Randy Haute with the Heartache (Diving Double Foot Stomp) and gets the pin. Winners: Bret Heartbreak & Team Italia. - vs. Match #2 – Lothar Prime vs. Thunderbolt Lothar Prime has quite some momentum, as he’s coming off 4 consecutive 1 on 1 wins and is looking to make it 5. Thunderbolt is on a pretty good run, winning fairly often and looking good in the ring as well, as he’s been praised for tiding up his in ring work in recent months. They put on a decent 18 minutes match, although the match would likely have been better had it been shorter. Thunderbolt goes home with the win, as he outworked Lothar Prime and finished him with the Thunder Driver. Winner: Thunderbolt. - vs. Match #3 – The It Crowd (Lauro Giordano & Night Spyder) vs. (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm As noted the last time they were in action, The It Crowd is a faction that’s mostly there to put the heels over some easy to love faces, but also to get Night Spyder some shine from being associated with veterans such as Lauro and Randy Haute. Also, worth reminding, last month a distraction from VWA Swiss Champion Matthew Macks led to the defeat of the It Crowd. Brecher & Grimm are ready for their 2 v 2 VWA debut, after last month saw Ralph Grimm’s long awaited VWA debut happen, when Brecher & Grimm tagged with Giancarlo Cabroni to beat O’Curle & The Bern Boys. They get 20 minutes and put on a decent little match, even tho Lauro is struggling to keep up with the others. The match ends soon after the sneaky Ralph Grimm introduces a steel chair to the ring. Lauro is crafty, tho, and doesn’t give him the chance to use it, as he dodges and counters each of Grimm’s attempts. Finally, at one point, the ref turns his back to try to calm down a fight on the outside between the illegal men, Spyder and Brecher. That’s when Lauro manages to grab the chair and thinks of trying a steel chair shot of his own. But out of nowhere, Matthew Macks jumps the barricade and manages to turn referee Fitz Nankervish towards Lauro, just as Lauro smacks Grimm with the chair! That’s a DQ! Realizing what happened, Lauro tries to hit Macks with the chair, but Macks escapes just in time and runes through the crowd! Spyder is looking towards Lauro with a visible disappointment, but Lauro tells him he was just trying to beat Grimm with a dose of his own medicine. That’s 2 out of 2 wins for Brecher and Grimm in VWA! Winners: Brecher & Grimm. - vs. Match #4 – Ultra Fly vs. Cub Balowicz Ultra Fly gets a decent reaction, and he looks confident. A bit too confident, given he’s fighting Cub, who, despite being 1-3 in his last 3 VWA matches, remains a top player. Cub Balowicz has some tape around his back from the earlier beatdown, but still looks fine as he enters and hypes up the crowd, who has a “love-hate” relationship with the knockout artist. The boys put on a pretty good 21 minutes match. Even tho Cub is the one who started the night by being beat up, it’s Ultra Fly who looks more tired near the end of the match, as he’s spent most of the match running towards Cub, trying to hurt his body with shotgun dropkicks from all angles. Still, Cub comes across as a proper monster, and the match ends with Cub’s famous left hook hitting Fly as he was going for a springboard crossbody. It’s a spectacular view, and even tho it’s the heel who’s winning, the crowd can’t help but applaud the finish. As he’s on the ramp, heading to the backstage area, he looks straight into a camera as he says: Cub: I don’t know how the hell I’ll do it, but at WrestleBowl there’s no damn way I’m facing anyone else but goddamn Hercules Johansson. Winner: Cub Balowicz. - vs. Match #5 – For the VWA European Championship: © Hercules Johansson vs. Abominable Snowman Despite putting a pretty mean beating on Cub earlier, Hercules comes out to a very good reaction. People are confident they’ll see an enjoyable exhibition of big meaty men slapping meat. Snowman also gets a good reaction, as despite being fairly repetitive and stagnant as a character, he’s always a sight to behold, as he’s goddamn massive and looks like a savage. The giants put on a great battle, and surprise the crowd by managing to keep going at it for 24 minutes! In the end, after multiple failed attempts, Hercules finally manages to hit Abby Snow with the Mighty Slam (modified Alabama Slam), but just as he’s about to get the pinfall, Cub Balowicz appears and kicks the ref in the head! With an unconscious ref, Cub picks up the tired Hercules and hits him with the Necksnap Drop (Neckbreaker from firemen’s carry), and heads backstage. Both wrestlers and the ref struggle to get up to their feet, but they manage to, and shockingly, after a few grappling exchanges, Hercules seems too tired to hit another Mighty Slam, but he surprises everyone by going for a double leg cradle, which secures him the win! Ab Snow is angered by losing in such a way, and slams his punches in the ground, but looking at Hercules, he realizes that he’s took to much damage and is unlikely to win a brawl, so he angrily leaves the ring and smashes chair and members on the staff on his way to the backstage area. Before the show goes off air, Hercules looks into the camera and promises he’ll put Cub in his place once and for all at VWA Settle The Score, which takes place next month! Winner, and still VWA European Champion: Hercules Johansson. - Show stats: - Rating: 51; - Viewership: 25 068; - MOTN: Hercules vs. Abominable Snowman. - Next week, the EWA will be the only European company greeting us with their presence, with EWA Weekly Warfare #31! Card: Steffen Strucker vs. Kruge The Executioner The Globetrotters (Jason Dempsey & Eugen Samper) vs. Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) Christopher Lister & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Michael Gregory & The Minds of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) Future X (Petey Barnes & Eric Future) vs. Byron & Paolo Gandalfini
3. What's up, GDS Forum!? Sometimes you just feel the urge to come back and add a few bricks to that thing you left unfinished, so I'm here to do just that! - February 2022 Week 2 This week, EWA heads to Austria, in Vienna (/Wien), as Byron’s brand of pro wrestling looks to expand its dominance in the European scene. We’ll also be looking at VWA’s annual trip to Budapest, but for new, let’s take a look at what went down at the most recent EWA Weekly Warfare! - EWA Weekly Warfare #30 Attendance: 530. Location: Vienna, Austria. Card: Cassie O’Peter & Matilda Persson vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Machiko Matsuda Petey Barnes vs. The Witch Doctor Christopher Lister & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Bam Bam Johansson & The Minds of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) Double Dutch vs. EWA Tag Team champion Byron & EWA Intercontinental Champion Paolo Gandalfini. - The Austrian fans cheer as the broadcast starts and Mark Stanford & Dougie Horwood welcome us and before Mark can talk about the card, Byron’s music starts. - Byron adresses Paolo Gandalfini The crowd boos as Byron makes his way to the ring waving and sending kisses like a beloved hero arriving after winning a great achievement. Byron: Hello, Austria! Welcome to the most fabulous entertainment show in the whole continent, EWA Weekly Warfare! Now, I’d love to chat with you, but sadly time is limited and I have a special independent contractor I’d love to address at this moment. My dear friend, our amazing Intercontinental Champion, Paolo Gandalfini! As Paolo makes his way down to the ring, most of the fans boo, although some of the ladies can’t help but admire his well oiled muscles. He enters the ring with a shining smile, with the IC belt on his shoulder, and receives a microphone. Paolo: Byron, mio amico! It was a honor to share the ring with you last week! A great privilege, and an experience I’ve learned from! It’s even an honor to be in this ring with you right now, and a pleasure too, of course! Byron: You’ve been one of my very favorite in this company ever since the day we’ve signed you, Paolo. I know I can always rely on you not only to provide high level entertainment, but also to look good while being dominant. I can’t lie to you Paolo, in more ways than one… you’re like the son I’ve never had! The crowd is split between booing and laughing, as this was an obvious shot at Bret Heartbreak, Byron's son who he fell out with and who's currently a tag team champion in VWA. But regardless Paolo looks deeply touched, and embraces Byron in a manly handshake that turns into an awkwardly oily hug… Paolo: You know it’s special to receive such compliments from a great like you, Byron! You’re a legend! Byron: And you will be too, one day, Paolo, I have no doubt! It’s why I’m not afraid to throw a curve ball in your way, and why I know that my main event scene is safe with you! People love you! Look in this arena, look in any arena we have shows, it’s more than packed, because people all around the world adore you almost as much as they adore me! The crowd boos and a few plastic glasses get thrown, although they don’t make it to the ring. Byron: It’s like you’re a God given gift! And even though I fought you just one week ago, and even though I am a tag team champion along my good friend, Kruge Le Executeur, tonight I decided I WILL MAIN EVENT WITH YOU! Paolo: What a marvelous decision! You know, Byron? If there’s anything I hate more than the people of Vienna, it’s the goddamn Dutch! Especially when they’re double! Byron and Paolo both laugh to Paolo’s amazing piece of humor, as the crowd boos with a passion. Paolo: It’s set in stone, then. Tonight, me and you, the most magnificently looking duo in the history of this whole business, we take out the Dutch trash and then we go have fun in a country that’s actually worth spending time in, like Italy! Byron: It’s a deal, amico. They embrace in one more oily hug, then they raise their hands as if they’d just won something, and then, just before leaving the ring to a choir of boos, Paolo grabs the mic again: Paolo: One more thing, I almost forgot! I almost forget about Petey Barnes, and that’s because, Petey Barnes, you don’t matter to me! You deserve no shot, but if you’d get one, I’d just win again. You don’t matter! He throws the mic and leaves the ring with Byron. Mark Stanford finally gets to run down the card. - vs. Match #1 – Cassie O’Peter & Matilda Persson vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Machiko Matsuda Cassie seems to be burning with rage and a desire for revenge after losing to Zofia once more at Madness in Bremen, while Matilda walks with swagger and looks ready for action. Zofia & Machiko look like the most random heel duo you could imagine, but they have so much experience that they’ll likely work things out, as they have 3 times more combined experience than their opponents. The match is one of the better ones from the Cassie vs. Zofia series, as Zofia acts as a real general and manages to carry her younger opponents, although the quality does take a pretty noticeable dip when Machiko and Matilda are tagged in at the same time. That doesn’t last long, tho. 7 minutes in, the finish sees Zofia hit Matilda with the Widowmaker, and Machiko attacks Cassie from behind, rendering her unable to stop the pin. Zofia gets the job done and looks Cassie in the eyes, telling her it might be time to try fighting people she can actually beat. Winners: Zofia & Machiko. - Pre-match interview with Petey Barnes Dougie Horwood has Petey Barnes alongside him, backstage. DH: I’m here with “The X Factor” Petey Barnes who is coming of an important win against Crusher Von Steinberg at Madness in Bremen. How do you feel after your most recent triumph, Petey? PB: I’m feeling as if a great weight has been lifted off my chest, Dougie! A 290lbs Austrian weight, actually! But I can’t rest on my laurels, so tonight I go to work again, to prove that I have what it takes to be a champion again. DH: Talking about champions, you must have heard what the Intercontinental champion had to say about you earlier today, as he dismissed you saying you don’t matter. How do you react to that, Petey? PB: Well I’ll tell you what, Dougie, what Paolo said about me was not as interesting as the words he had to say for Byron. I made the mistake of thinking he’s a professional, but it’s starting to look as if he’s simply turning into Byron’s lapdog and henchmen. An unmasked Kruge, if you will. Both him and Byron know that I’m a man that’s always ready to say what’s on his mind. And after I face The Witch Doctor, I’d absolutely love to grab my life long partner Eric Future and get a chance to fight Paolo and Byron next week. The crowd seems to enjoy this idea. DH: That would definitely result in a terrific match, Petey! Thank you for your time and good luck in your upcoming match! - vs. Match #2 – Petey Barnes vs. The Witch Doctor The crowd rallies behind Petey, as he’s looked great in his last match against Crusher and made everyone believe he can beat Paolo in his promo at Madness in Bremen. The Witch Doctor is back after 3 months of absence, and he’s just as witchy as ever. As expected, Petey basically forces the Doctor into having a perfectly OK match. He lets the Doc have his moments and have his signature comedy spots, but ultimately Petey is the one dominating most of the match. The Doc locks in his frightening Voodoo Nip Twist, but Petey shows off his fighting spirit by hitting multiple mongolian chops until the Doc loses his grip and falls on his knees, putting him in position for Petey’s X-Cutter (Natural Selection). Petey does it, 1-2-3, and just like that, Petey wins in what was 6 minutes of fun. Winner: Petey Barnes. - vs. w/ Match #3 – Christopher Lister & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Bam Bam Johansson & The Minds of Evil (Crusher von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) w/ Colossal Karl Lister has a bit of momentum as he’s won two 3 v 3 tag matches last week, and this week he’s looking to continue his streak with new partners, the most recent UEW Tag Titles challengers, The Addams Family! Bam Bam also featured in those two 3 v 3 tag matches from last week, and he was left angered when he found himself on the losing side in both situations. Now, he’s got himself a new set of partners, The Minds of Evil, as now that Landon Mallory is on vacation, Crusher will be guided by his tag partner, Milo Morningstar, and by his Masters of Evil partner, Colossal Karl. The crowd boos their entrance, mostly because this awkward formula is a reminder that they’re not seeing the company’s biggest star, Landon Mallory. They put on a pretty underwhelming 13 minutes match. Milo Morningstar’s age is showing, as he’s not anywhere close to a decent performance, and Kalvin Addams also seems to be having an off day, and the remaining four have a basic match that will probably be forgotten by the time the fans reach their homes. The match ends when The Addams hit the Family Meeting (Jumping running knee to the chest from Kalvin and to the upper back from Jimmi) on Milo, as Bam Bam and Crusher are on the outside, distracted by Lister. Post match, Crusher and Bam Bam argue and Colossal Karl jumps between them, defending Crusher and taunting Bam Bam, while the faces celebrate. Winners: Lister & The Addams. - vs. w/ Match #4 – Double Dutch (Frankie Van Heer & Henrick Van Bon) vs. EWA Tag Team Champion Byron & EWA Intercontinental Champion Paolo Gandalfini w/ Kruge The Executioner This is only the second match after losing the tag titles for Double Dutch. As always, the Dutch duo is welcomed with cheers, not only for their perfect underdog personas, but also because they face two of the most easy to hate heels in European wrestling. Byron and Paolo have managed to get the crowd to boo them with passion thanks to their opening of the show, and having Kruge come out with them as backup is a good addition to their heelish threat. As expected, on their way to the ring they act as if the crowd is cheering with tears of joy in their eyes, when they’re actually being booed. A match made in heaven, this is 14 minutes of wonderful European gimmicky wrestling. Byron taunting like a mad man while slamming and holding the Dutch in rest holds, Frank selling as if he’s about to die and Henrick looking as if he'll explode once he gets the hot tag, and most importantly, Gandalfini who, despite not being experienced as a tag wrestler, seems to know every trick in the heel tag wrestler book. He lets Frank tease the hot tag, he halts his momentum with impactful slams and drops, he toys with him like a savage animal playing with prey, and he's also taunting as if he’d be the classiest man in town, and the crowd boos him like no other, which is the best thing you can ask for from a heel like Paolo. The match has a sketchy ending. Shortly after the hot tag, the heels retreat behind Kruge, outside of the ring. With Kruge behind them and their opponents, the Dutch dive into Kruge and start beating him down, and as this happens, Byron, the company’s owner, weasels his way into the ring, grabs reff Pat Garrett and yells: Byron: They’re beating someone who has not been involved in this match in any sort of fashion! That’s a DQ! Ref Garrett: That can’t be a DQ, sir, you know that… With a savage look in his eyes, Byron grabs his collar and yells: Byron: YOU KNOW DAMN RIGHT THAT’S A DQ, GARRETT, YOU KNOW DAMN RIGHT! Aware his job might be on the line, Garrett follows Byron’s wish and rings for the DQ, ending the match with the heels as winners. As the bell rings, Gandalfini grabs a chair and hits both Frank and Henrick on their backs. Before any damage can be done, tho, the music of Future X starts playing and Eric Future and Petey Williams come to make the save. Mark Stanford lets us know that it seems like next week we’ll be seeing Future X take on Byron and Gandalfini, and Lister and The Addams will be in action against The Minds of Evil once again, with Michael Gregory helping the heel side this time. The show goes off with the heels together in the ring and the 4 faces on the rampway. - Show stats: - Show rating: 53; - Viewership: 50 416; - MOTN: Byron & Gandalfini vs. Double Dutch. - The VWA is also coming back this week, with VWA Budapest 2022! Card: VWA European Championship: © Hercules Johansson vs. The Abominable Snowman Ultra Fly vs. Cub Balowicz The It Crowd (Lauro Giordano & Night Spyder) vs. Brecher & Grimm Lothar Prime vs. Thunderbolt Jasper January & Despair Faction (Randy Haute & Merle O’Curle) vs. VWA Tag Team Champion Bret Heartbreak & Team Italia (Giancarlo Giabroni & Grando Alessandro) - Predictions: CobheadJake: 4/4; Total: 23/30 (77%). Herrbear: 3/4; Total: 13/20 (65%). Looks like Byron’s booking is pretty predictable too!
4. February 2022 Week 1 We’re reaching the end of this great week filled with wrestling! The last stop of our wrestling trip of the week: UEW Worlds Collide! UEW Worlds Collide Attendance: 624. Location: Barcelona, Spain. Card: 1. Takuya Omura vs. Red Dragon 2. Xavi Machismo & Thomas Morgan vs. Teruki Nakayama & Aio Bandai 3. Waotaka Masanobu vs. Irwin Guttman 4. Garion LaChance vs. Armand Hardwicke 5. UEW Tag Team Championships: © (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm vs. Juan Mendoza & Aleksandar Knyazev 6. #1 Contenders match for the UEW Tag Titles: Don Henderson & Cub Balowicz vs. Joey Beauchamp & Jase Cole 7. Gordon Leve vs. Konrad Makinen 8. UEW World Championship: © Punisher Paul Hughes vs. Menace - Welcoming us, we have Mark Stanford and The Demolition Druid himself, Ali Bloxsome! They run through the card with excitement, putting over Leve vs. Makinen II, Don & Cub vs. Juan & Knyazev and the main event! - Match #1 – Takuya Omura vs. Red Dragon vs. Takuya is a muscular Japanese babyface who’s made his debut in his European excursion, in November 2020. Now, he’s twice the worker he was back then, but still way off what’s expected of a BHOTWG young talent. Still, he’s only 20yo, so the 6’2, 247lbs street fighter has plenty of time to develop. This is his 3rd main show UEW appearance, and he’s even had a main show win! Red Dragon is here to teach Takuya how to work, and kick his ass in the process. They get 7 minutes, and Red Dragon tries his best to make Takuya look good, but they don’t really click. The match ends with Dragon hitting his Flamebreath finisher (Leg Lariat off the top rope), and the crowd ain’t really impressed with anything except Dragon’s finisher. The crowd play’s along with Dragon’s heel shtick. Winner: Red Dragon. - Match #2 – Xavi Machismo & Thomas Morgan vs. Teruki Nakayama & Aio Bandai vs. Xavi is getting hot in the midcard, while Thomas is just some guy after Walter Morgan left the UEW. Teruki is getting love in UEW, but it’s more because of his size than his in ring skills. Aio is seen as one of the most talented young lions in the current crop of Japanese visitors. He’s a lightweight tech-flier that looks good, but doesn’t impress with a mic in his hand in neither English or Japanese. This is only his 2nd main-show appearance. It’s a pretty boring match, but not too bad overall. Sadly, Thomas Morgan’s body is slowly falling apart, as he’s 47yo, and Teruki is still too green to be deemed a good wrestler. Xavi carried most of this match, and the match ended after 9 minutes, when Xavi hit Teruki Nakayama with the Falcon Arrow. Winners: Xavi & Thomas. - Match #3 – Waotaka Masanobu vs. Irwin Guttman vs. Waotaka Masanobu is a lightweight technician-brawler with an anti-system gimmick. He’s already a good brawler and might develop into an upper midcarder or even a main eventer, but as of now, he’s 24yo, he’s been on excursion with the UEW for 14 months, and this is his first main-show appearance. Irwin Guttman is seemingly on the rise, as his new, even more muscular look, gained him a lot of appreciation, and his in ring work is as good as always. It looks as these two have very good chemistry, as Waotaka put on the match of his life, as technician veteran Irwin Guttman carried the Japanese youngster to an enjoyable match. It ended after 9 minutes, when Guttman finally locked in his Tiger Sleeper (Dragon Sleeper). The match booed the heck out of arrogant Gutmann. Winner: Irwin Guttman. - Match #4 – Garion LaChance vs. Armand Hardwicke vs. Garion is an aging lowermidcarder that gets most of his wins over Japanese young lions. Armand Hardwicke has been on the rise for a while, but his in-ring work, sadly, is often mediocre, which will be a big problem for him as long as he’s in UEW. They put on a forgettable 6 minutes of action, with Garion looking sloppy for the most part. It ends with Armand Hardwicke’s finisher, Wicked Road (Cross Rhodes). Winner: Armand Hardwicke. - Match #5 – For the UEW Tag Team Championships: © (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm vs. Juan Mendoza & Aleksander Knyazev vs. Brecher & Grimm are one heck of a pairing, and the most important tag team in the history of the UEW, and they’re both in their primes. Mendoza is still a pretty hollow Spanish hero, and Knyazev is a pretty cool guy but he doesn’t feel like he’ll set the world on fire anytime soon. They all give their best to make it an interesting and engaging match, but things just don’t click: Mendoza forgets to sell properly, Knyazev either misses, either hits stiff, and Brecher and Grimm can only do so much to raise their opponents. At the end, it’s a decent match, but not really up to the same standard that Brecher & Grimm have set in the last year. It ends with Mendoza tapping out to the Munich Crunch (Boston Crab + Camel Clutch). Winners, and still UEW Tag Team champions: Brecher & Grimm. -   Match #6 – #1 Contenders match for the UEW Tag Titles: Don Henderson & Cub Balowicz vs. Joey Beauchamp & Jase Cole vs. Well, it looks like Don H and Balowicz are not giving up and want revenge for their defeat at the hands of Brecher and Grimm, last month. They’ll have some top notch opposition, as they will be facing regular title challenger Joey Beauchamp and Jase Cole, who just kicked Kalu Owusu out of UEW and hasn’t lost a match since Juny 2021. The two teams put a pretty good back and forth match. You can see sharing the ring with great workers motivated Joey to give one of his best performances in recent years, and all the guys played the roles well – Don, as the babyface that sells his ass off, Jase and Joey as the sneaky, annoying heels that cheat to maintain control, and Cub as the menacing hot tag that earns his team redemption. They get 21 minutes and make the crowd enjoy most of it. The match ends with Cub cracking Beauchamp with his Necksnap Drop (Neckbreaker from firemen’s carry), as Don makes sure Jase doesn’t break the pin. The champions come to the ramp to taunt the “new” contenders, and Cub and Don look fired up. Winners: Don H & Balowicz. - Match #7 – Gordon Leve vs. Konrad Makinen vs. These guys put one of the best matches a European promotion put on in the last 10 years, when they collided last year, at UEW Doomsday 2021. What sucks is that Ali Bloxsome and Joey Beauchamp still don’t see much in Gordon Leve, as he’s being booked as midcarder-ish as always, as he remains a pretty non-remarkable, bland character, despite his in-ring skill. A win for Gordon here could instantly make him, tho. On the other side, Konrad has been regarded as one of the top European wrestlers of the recent years, so given his status and history with Leve, no one would complain if this would headline the card. They get 22 minutes, and it’s honestly amazing for Europe’s standards, this might be the best match a European company has ever produced. Ever! The crowd loved everything they did, as Konrad looked to wear Gordon down with his flashy slams, strikes and dives, while every second Gordon was in control earned cheers, as he tormented the “stone cold” Makinen with creative submission holds. They both managed to spectacularly reverse their signature moves and finishers. Konrad managed to grab the ropes with his feet while in Leve’s Crucifix Armbreaker, he kicked out by ropebreak after getting hit with Gordon’s Breakdown DDT (Double Underhook DDT), and eventually, it only took one well timed Graveyard Trip (Modified STO) from Konrad to put Leve’s lights out and earn the victory. As the match ended, the Spanish crowd went up on their feet and gave both guys an ovation, and you could tell that even “The Stone Cold Killer” was amazed with what he and Leve created in the ring. Winner: Konrad Makinen, the UEW and everyone who watched. - Match #8 – For the UEW World Championship: © Punisher Paul Hughes vs. Menace vs. Punisher Paul is still going decent. While he’s no longer an ace in the ring, he’s a beloved babyface, and his overness mostly carries this last big run Paul’s getting. Menace, despite coming off a loss, always looked strong and believable enough to make for a decent challenger. It’s worth mentioning Paul’s last loss was in a 1 on 1 match against Menace, back in May 2021. The two giants give it all they’ve got for 20 minutes, and the crowd loves it, despite the action itself being mediocre. Being over will do that… Menace gets to look strong for most of the bout, and it all ends when Punisher catches him with the Big Crane Kick, and gets the pin. Punisher lifts his belt and the crowd is glad to see the babyface veteran retain once more. Winner, and still UEW World Champion: Punisher Paul Hughes. - As the show reaches its final, Ali Bloxsome lets us know Menace will be getting ANOTHER shot at Marcello Ricci next month, while Hughes will defend against the Stone Cold Killer, Konrad Makinen, and Cub & Don will be challenging Brecher & Grimm for the tag titles once again! - Show stats: - Rating: 52. - Viewership: 24 278. - MOTN: Leve vs. Makinen II – 71. - Next day, the second ELPF event of the year took place, ELPF Another Attempt in Caen, France! ELPF Another Attempt - Gordon Leve defeats Demolition Drebin; - Konrad Makinen defeats Clubber Kohl; - Don Henderson defeats Niklas Kremer; - Merle O’Curle defeats Ronny de Veuster ; - Bas Hagen defeats Eugen Samper - Rahabad Lawal defeats Pavel Vanzycha; - Kalu Owusu defeats Scott Van Den Berg; - Joey Beauchamp defeats Kruge The Executioner to retain the ELPF World Championship. - Next week, we’ll be enjoying two more shows, but let’s take a look at the first one now: EWA Weekly Warfare #30 Card: Cassie O’Peter & Matilda Persson vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Machiko Matsuda Petey Barnes vs. The Witch Doctor Christopher Lister & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Bam Bam Johansson & The Minds of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Milo Morningstar) Double Dutch vs. EWA Tag Team champion Byron & EWA Intercontinental Champion Paolo Gandalfini. - Predictions: CobheadJake: 7/8; Total: 19/26 (73%) Herrbear: 6/8; Total: 10/16 (63%). Great job, guys, you both were close to perfection! Looks like Beauchamp needs to work on being a more unpredictable booker
5. Well, there's a lot to read with every post, but everything is also really interesting, so it looks worth following for me
6. February 2022 Week 1 On the last post, I had forgotten to add the show stats for the Weekly Warfare episode, so here they are: - Show rating: 53. - Viewership: 49 081. - MOTN: Double Dutch vs. Masters of Evil – 57. Now, it’s time for the second EWA special of the year, EWA Madness in Bremen! EWA Madness in Bremen Attendance: 300. Location: Bremen, Germany. Card: 8. EWA Tag Team Championships: © The Rulers (Byron & Kruge The Executioner) vs. The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) 7. Petey Barnes vs. Crusher Von Steinberg 6. Cage match for the EWA Women’s Championship: © Zofia Jankovic vs. Cassie O’Peter 5. Eric Future vs. Magnus Cage 4. Christopher Lister & The Globetrotters (Eugen Samper & Jason Dempsey) vs. Bam Bam Johansson & The Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) 3. Gypsy Rose vs. Maisie Laurels 2. Hammer & Anvil (Ulf Horst & Niklas Kramer) vs. Overkill (Demolition Drebin & Dylan Drama) vs. Michael Gregory & Ferdinand Arneaux 1. Cage match: Stuart Wilson vs. Bas Hagen - We’re live in Bremen, with Mark Stanford & Dougie Horwood, and the small arena is packed with fans that seem to be glad to be getting some good ol’ EWA sports entertainment, despite the fact that stars like Mallory & Gandalfini are not expected to wrestle tonight. The commentary duo talk about the way The Rulers insert themselves into whatever title picture they desire, but also about the fact that we’ll get to see Zofia Jankovic defending her title against Cassie O’Peter, in a steel cage! - Match #1 - Steel Cage: Stuart Wilson vs. Bas Hagen vs. The fans get excited when they see the steel cage lowering down, but are indifferent when they see it’s Stuart Wilson & Bas Hagen who come out to wrestle in it. They put on a boring 8 minutes match where Stuart looked sloppy and Hagen did not looked like the experienced wrestler he is, and duh, if the rumors about Bas Hagen getting a push are real, the EWA fans are in for some underwhelming moments. Hagen finished Wilson off with his Full Nelson finisher, forcing Wilson into submission. Winner: Bas Hagen. - Match #2 – Hammer & Anvil (Ulf Horst & Niklas Kramer) vs. Overkill (Demolition Drebin & Dylan Drama) vs. Michael Gregory & Ferdinand Arneaux vs. vs. Well, this is pretty much the battle of low midcard teams that don’t have much to do, and Overkill is the only team that gets any kind of reaction out of the Bremen crowd, as the odd pairing does have a fun aura around them. Michael Gregory will team up with Arneaux, as Bam Bam will team up with the Nigerian Hit Squad later tonight. They get a decent 8 minutes, and Michael Gregory, the most experienced man in the match, does a good job of coordinating the bulk of the match. Dylan & Drebin get their moments in the spotlight, as Dylan’s selling is as dramatic as always, and he gets overly excited as Drebin runs wild. But the match ends with the more experienced heel, Michael Gregory, hitting the Overpower Slam on Niklas Kramer, as Arneaux ensures no one breaks the pin. It was a decent match, that tried to wake the crowd up and had a few good moments. Winners: Gregory & Arneaux. - Petey Barnes interview We get taken to the backstage area, where next to Dougie Horwood, it’s the beloved Future X member Petey Barnes. DH: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with Petey Barnes! Petey, you’re a true flagbearer of this company, but you’ve had a rough start to 2022, losing all your 3 matches, even tho all of them were against tip top opposition. Still, how do you reflect on your recent losses? PB: Dougie, I’ve been having some horrible weeks.. My last win was almost 2 months ago, and my last 1 on 1 win was.. Good Lord, it was back when I was still the Intercontinental champion all the way back to October.. So how do I reflect on these losses? I dream of myself being Universal champion, Dougie! But right now, I’m not anywhere near that picture, and it seems that fool of a champion we have is “on vacation”, so I’m turning my cannon towards that cheating prick that’s been holding the Intercontinental championship for the past few months! DH: Well, Paolo Gandalfini had pretty much laid out his plan and fulfilled it in recent weeks. Do you think that now he may be less focused, in the following weeks? PB: No chance, Dougie. He’s a slick one, he likes to pretend it’s all about champagne, aesthetics and such, but I’m a veteran, and I know it when I see it – Gandalfini cares about the title and his matches more than he shows. If he isn’t completely focused on the task at hand, he’d rather miss a payday and not show up. I’m under no illusions. I need to work hard to make my way back to another shot at him, and when I get it, no less than my best will be enough. DH: Well could your path to another Intercontinental title match start tonight, against Crusher Von Steinberg? PB: You bet your pretty hat, Dougie. Especially now that there’s no Mallory to stick his tail in. Here’s a promise: I will not stop chasing the Intercontinental championship, as long as Gandalfini has it. I’m tired of his attitude, I’m tired disrespect, I’m tired of his antics. Paolo, I know you’re watching this. Not only do I swear to you we’ll rematch, I also swear to you one more thing. That championship belt that you get to carry all day long with you, it will be mine. Sooner rather than later. - Match #3 – Gypsy Rose vs. Maisie Laurels vs. This is Rose’s first singles match after losing her title, and the crowd is still behind her as she dances to the ring. Amazin’ Maisie is still on quite a roll, undefeated since her last 1 on 1 match with Rose, back in October 2021. They put on a pretty forgettable match with a few rough spots, as neither performer seems to be trying hard tonight. The match ends when Maisie hits her Running Flying Elbow, after 7 minutes. Winner: Maisie Laurels. - Match #4 – Christopher Lister & The Globetrotters (Eugen Samper & Jason Dempsey) w/ Krystyna vs. Bam Bam Johansson & The Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) w/ vs. Lister has been fairly successful in 6 man tag team matches recently, and he’ll look to keep this trend going, as he’s coming off a win along the Gobetrotters just a night before. The declining Bam Bam Johnasson is tagging along fellow aging talents, in the Nigerian Hit Squad. The guys get 11 minutes and do just enough to get the crowd fairly interested in the match, with Lister & Dempsey carrying the match in terms of in-ring performance. Rashid Lawal is looking more and more broken down by the day, sadly. The match ended with Dempsey pinning Rashid after hitting the Rabid Bulldog (Jump from the from the 2nd rope into a bulldog). Winners: Lister & The Globetrotters. - Match #5 – Eric Future vs. Magnus Cage vs. “The Man Of Tomorrow” Eric Future is finally getting his first 1 on 1 match in the last 3 months, after his recent IC title bout turned into a fatal four way on short notice. The crowd is behind him, as expected. Magnus Cage will definitely look he to prove he can offer a good match with the right partner, as he’s usually working 1 on 1 matches facing either fellow midcarders of lower midcard talents. While Magnus didn’t have a breakout performance by any means, he did have one of his better 1 on 1 offerings, which must be pleasing for Byron and the other EWA higher ups. They got 7 minutes and did just fine with them, offering a decent match that ended with Eric Future countering Cage’s Overblown Trumpet with a super kick to the hand, following up with a super kick to the head and finishing things off with his Shooting Star Press. Winner: Eric Future. - Match #6 – Steel Cage for the EWA Women’s Championship – © Zofia Jankovic vs. Cassie O’Peter vs. Cassie O’Peter has literally lost all her matches this year, but she’s never been pinned n’or submitted and she seems to have a bone to pick with the champion, so this will have to do. Zofia’s specialty is the cage match, despite it being extra hard for her to beat Gypsy Rose inside it. Now that she’s champion, she gladly invited Cassie to challenge her, after Cassie snapped and got DQ’d attacking her on the last episode of Weekly Warfare. Well, Cassie tries her best to make herself feel like a believable challenger, but it’s just not there. We all know Zofia’s winning this, and while the in-ring action is pretty good (mostly because Zofia is awesome), the crowd doesn’t seem to care about this bout too much. Still, Zofia acts like a pro and looks great as she finishes Cassie off with the Widowmaker Kick (Dragon Kick), after 9 minutes of action. Winner, and still EWA Women’s Champion: Zofia Jankovic. - Match #7 – Petey Barnes vs. Crusher Von Steinberg w/ Colossal Karl vs. w/ Petey’s one of the most over acts around, as he should. The crowd cheers loudly when he appears. Crusher comes out with Colossal Karl, but Landon’s nowhere to be seen. After Crusher enters the ring, we see Mallory on the big screen! He seems to be in a hotel room somewhere. Landon: Hey, Crusher! Remember, that Petey guy is just some dude off the street playin’ wrestlah, just demolish him quickly! Also, remember, if enemy grab rope, Crush let go! Crusher, mumbling to himself: Grab rope, let go, yes... Landon dissapears off the screen and the action begins. Barnes and Crusher put on a truly good match, that would be received well just as well in places like Japan or the US too! Obviously, Crusher dominates for most of the match, making Petey work hard for everything he gets in. Petey sells his ass off, as expected. 12 minutes in, Crusher finally catches Petey in the Mind Crusher (Iron Claw), but Petey manages to grab the rope and Karl reminds him to let go. The ending sequence sees Petey hit a running low dropkick to Crusher, getting him down on one knee, and then finishing him off with the X-Cutter (Natural Selection) and a quick Moonsault for good measure. The crowd pops loudly and applauds Petey, who put on a very enjoyable 15 minutes match. Winner: Petey Barnes. - Match #8 – For the EWA Tag Team Titles: © The Rulers (Byron & Kruge The Executioner) vs. The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. The Addams Family were close to winning the titles at the last special, New Year Smash, and have since defeated the Masters of Evil and Overkill, but also lost a 3-man tag where Kruge teamed up with the NHS. Sadly, everyone in the arena knows damn well they ain’t winning this, but there are hopes of them putting a pretty good match. The Rulers sure know how to ensure they are despised, as the crowd boos heavily as they enter the ring. Well, these are 11 pretty unspectacular minutes. Byron relies too much on his taunts, Kalvin Addams seems off, Jimmi’s hardly at his best, and Kruge can’t do everything by himself, can he? It’s a decent match, but it definitely lacked the main event feeling they hoped to achieve, and on a card filled with forgettable matches, this was just more of the same. A pretty disappointing showing, overall. The match ends with Kalvin getting Beheaded (head stomped) by Kruge. It’s hard to say if the fans are booing out of disappointment at the show, or because they hate The Rulers. Winners, and still EWA Tag Team champions: The Rulers. - As the show ends, Mark Stanford lets us know that next week, Weekly Warfare is heading to Vienna, where Petey Barnes will be facing The Witch Doctor, and Gandalfini & Byron will have a face off to clean the air between them! - Show stats: - Show rating: 48. - Viewership: 47 864. - MOTN: Barnes vs. Crusher – 60. - And let’s not forget about the final show we have this week! UEW Worlds Collide   Card: UEW World Championship: © Punisher Paul Hughes vs. Menace Gordon Leve vs. Konrad Makinen Don Henderson & Cub Balowicz vs. Joey Beauchamp & Jase Cole UEW Tag Team Championships: © (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm vs. Juan Mendoza & Aleksandar Knyazev Garion LaChance vs. Armand Hardwicke Xavi Machismo & Thomas Morgan vs. Teruki Nakayama & Aio Bandai Waotaka Masanobu vs. Irwin Guttman Takauya Omura vs. Red Dragon - Predictions: CobheadJake: 5/8; total: 12/18 (66%). Herrbear: 4/8. Not bad, especially since many of the matches didn't have much build up!
7. I believe someone tried to, but the main problem was with the game's engine, as the output of punches was always unrealistically low. I think it's this one: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=542674
8. Chris Hero (#9) VS. Tom Lawlor (#6) Team Filthy (Dickinson & Gainz) VS. Violence Squad (Gunner Miller & Schaff) ZERO (Unr) VS. Kevin Knight (#20)
9. February 2022 Week 1 The January Finance report! - EWA It’s being rumored that the EWA got a profit of about $45-50k in the last month, meaning that the company’s finance are doing great. The sponsorships has been bringing in more and more for a while, which reflects the company’s rise in popularity. - VWA It’s being rumored that the VWA still haven’t broke their streak of losing months, financially, but the losses were very minor this month, less than a thousand dollars. The last time they had a profitable month was June 2021. - UEW Things are looking pretty bad for the UEW, as they keep losing money, losing about three thousands dollars in January. The good part is that ticket and merchandise sales continue to raise, while the costs remain pretty constant, so if these trends continue, the losses should come to an end soon. - Newsflash! In the morning of EWA Weekly Warfare #29 show, Paolo Gandalfini and Eric Future received some pretty unpleasant news: their match will now be a fatal four way, and they don’t get to find out who the new opponents are until they get to the ring! - Now, onto the show! EWA Weekly Warfare #29 Attendance: 300. Location: Bremen, Germany. Card: EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Eric Future vs. ??? vs. ??? Double Dutch (Frankie Van Heer & Henrick Van Bon) vs. Masters of Evil (EWA Universal Champion Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinburg) w/ Colossal Karl Cassie O’Peter & Serena Ventura vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Maisie Laurels Christopher Lister & The Globetrotters (Eugen Samper & Jason Dempsey) w/ Krystyna vs. Bas Hagen & Team Amazement (Bam Bam Johansson & Michael Gregory) - The crowd is hot as Mark Stanford is alone at the desk for now, as he welcomes us to the last Weekly Warfare before Madness in Bremen! He runs down the card and lets us know that Dougie Horwood is backstage, ready to interview the Intercontinental Champion, Paolo Gandalfini! - Paolo Gandalfini interview Dougie Horwood is next to Paolo Gandalfini, backstage. DH: Paolo, I’m sure now one was more surprised than yourself about this morning’s news. What are your thoughts on these? PG: My thoughts are that I’m being challenged a bit more, but I shouldn’t have any difficulties. I’m used to a lot of hardship. And as I’ve told you, Byron knows I’m money, so it’s probably some debuting flop, like a Michael Gregory, or some weakling I’ve already walked through, like a Barnes or Lister. I know my skills, I know my talents, and I do believe I have VERY, and I mean VERY, very little to worry about. Now, you know me Dougie, I gotta make sure I have some fine champagne to celebrate this triumph, my model lovers are already warming up, ciao! - Match #1 – Christopher Lister & The Globetrotters (Jason Dempsey & Eugen Samper) w/ Krystyna vs. Bas Hagen & Team Amazement (Michael Gregory & Bam Bam Johansson) w/ vs. Lister’s been having some tough luck recently, Samper is yet to collect his first win of the year, but Dempsey is motivated to help his buds turn things around and get some momentum going. Bas Hagen is your average heel lower-midcarder, who likely won’t ever go too far above his current status, although it is rumored Byron might be looking to reward him for his 13 years with the company with a decent push soon. Gregory & Bam Bam Johansson are as cold as they’ve been, lately. They put on a decent, although forgettable 10 minutes match, mostly carried by Dempsey and Gregory. It’s nice to see Gregory working hard despite not being given much to work with in the EWA. The match ends when Dempsey hits his Rabid Bulldog (Jumping from the from the 2nd rope into a bulldog) finisher on big Bam Bam, who was to tired to defend. Winners: Lister & The Globetrotters. - Interview with The Masters of Evil Dougie Horwood is in the middle of the ring. DH: Ladies and gentlemen, joining me for a live interview, the Masters of Evil! The music of the Masters of Evil can be heard throughout the arena, and all three members of the faction walk toward the ring, with EWA Universal Champion Landon Mallory leading the way. DH: Hello, Masters! Mister Mallory, some fans have been questioning the way you’ve disciplined Crusher Von Steinburg. Do you have anything to say regarding that? LM: Of course I do, of course... If I was a stupid nobody that couldn’t make a radical change to save my own life, I’d also criticize people that successfully make changes and also instantly get the desired results. And I’d be jealous too. But thank God I’m the kind of man that’s capable of implementing radical changes, and thank God our big Crusher learned all he had to learn, and did one hell of a good job last week too! Crusher: I will crush EVERYBODYYYYY! But if everybody hold rope, I must release hold. LM: Damn right, Crusher! Damn right! That’s not the evil thing to do, but it’s the right thing to do, you beast! Crusher: Yes… DH: Ehm, alright… L-Landon, but what about the EWA Universal championship? LM: What about it? DH: There’s been no update on potential future contenders, there hasn’t been a lot of action regarding it lately. LM: What do you mean? There has been great action just a month ago, when this title wis suspended a friggin’ kilometer above the ground and I went up and got it. DH: But that was a whole month ago! LM: “tHaT wAz a wHoLe mOnTh aGo” I know how time works, human micstand! DH: But people want to see the Universal title defended, Landon, you must give them an update on that! LM: I must WHAT? You know what? Get out of my ring, Dougie! Get out! Landon grabs the mic out of Dougie’s hand and shoos him out of the ring, to a crowd of boos. LM: You know what!? I’m a tag team wrestler now! And you know what else!? Y’all wanna question my willingness to prove myself, you want me to defend this damn belt? Screw you all, I’ve beaten EVERYONE this company has put in front of me since winning this damn title 8 months ago! AND YOU KNOW WHAT!? Thank God I’m wrestling tonight, Bremen, ‘cause after tonight, you know when’s the next time you’ll see me wrestle again? WHEN I DECIDE ANYONE HAS EARNED THE RIGHT TO CHALLENGE ME! Good luck with that! I think it’s the time that king Landon, the Master of the Masters gets himself a little vacation! Now see ya later! - Match #2 – Cassie O’Peter & Serena Ventura vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Maisie Laurels vs. Cassie has had some rough weeks, constantly losing to Zofia and her partners in tag matches, despite never taking the pin herself. Still, she lost a cage match to Maisie, although even then, Maisie won by escaping, not by pinfall. Zofia has been having fun, having already pinned Serena Ventura once 3 weeks ago, and Gipsy Rose 2 weeks ago, in tag matches that also involved Cassie. Predictably, Cassie and Zofia carry most of this match too, as they did in their previous tag meetings. This time, tho, Cassie herself is tired of watching Zofia tear her partners apart, and she finally snaps – as Zofia hits the Widowmaker Kick on Ventura and goes for the pin, Cassie jumps in and doesn’t just break the pin, but keeps striking Zofia with lots of punches. The ref can’t take Cassie off Zofia, so he’s forced to end the match by DQ. It was a decent 6 minutes match. As more refs come to hold Cassie apart from Zofia, Zofia is walking towards the back, smiling. Zofia lets Cassie know she can join her in the cage tomorrow, if she’s feeling up for it. It should be a nice match! Winners: Zofia & Maisie (by DQ). - Match #3 – Double Dutch (Frankie Van Heer & Henrick Van Bon) vs. Masters of Evil (EWA Universal Champion Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinburg) w/ Colossal Karl vs. w/ Double Dutch seem to be even more over now that they’ve been screwed out of their title, and they find themselves opposing what’s likely the most dangerous duo in all of EWA. Meanwhile Masters of Evil feel more hated than ever, mostly because they feel more in control of EWA than ever, as Landon can seemingly just decide he won’t defend his belt. They gave a good TV match that kept the crowd engaged for the whole 12 minutes, with Landon making everything he did feel important, as he usually does. The match ended when, after Crusher cleaned house, Landon tagged himself in and finished HVB off with the New Level (Paydirt). After the match, Landon, again, says something about going on vacation! Is the EWA Universal champion really going to take time off? Winners. Masters of Evil. - Match #4 – For the EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Eric Future vs. ??? vs. ??? vs. vs. ??? vs. ??? Well, this should be interesting. Eric Future comes out to a decent reaction. Barnes and Lister come out with him on the ramp, but Eric sends them backstage and runs to the ring by himself. Paolo Gandalfini, the champion, comes out next, and he goes through his poses like usually, looking pretty unaffected by the fact that two more men will soon join the match. We get a good 30 seconds of no music and suspense, when finally, music hits the speakers and… Gah damn it, IT’S THE RULERS! The crowd explodes in heat, as instead of a pair of exciting debuts or returns, they get the same old Byron, along with his biggest muscle, Kruge. Eric Future doesn’t have much of a reaction, but Gandalfini starts laughing! “It’s a great challenge, boss, and it’s a damn smart one too, I’ll give you that!”. Well, dang. Obviously, the first minute of the match sees the three heels gang up on Eric Future. Also obviously, Gandalfini tries to weasel himself out when he realizes he’s left in the ring with Byron and Kruge, but Kruge drags him into a clothesline, and The Rulers tee of on him. Eventually, Future & Paolo realize they have to unite their forces if they want to stand a chance, and a good chunk of this match is basically a Paolo & Future vs. The Rulers tornado match. 12 minutes in, Future was about to roll up Byron with an Okada Roll, but Kruge breaks the pin by hitting The Beheading stomp on Future. Just as Kruge was trying to drag Byron on top of Future, Paolo hits him with a kick to the jewels, just like he did at New Year Smash, and he throws him out the ring. Paolo then grabs Byron, who was still groggy, and gently pushes him out of the ring, telling him “I’m sorry, but you ain’t winning this, capo”. Byron tries to get back in the ring, but Paolo goes “Aw, come on” and just punches him off the apron. He then lifts Future up for the Chokeslam, covers him, and retains in what was an enjoyable TV main event. The match went for 13 minutes, and it showed great entertainment. Winner, and still EWA Intercontinental Champion: Paolo Gandalfini. - As Dougie still can’t believe the match we’ve just had, Mark Stanford cuts him off to run down tomorrow’s Madness in Bremen card! - EWA Madness in Bremen Card: EWA Tag Team Championships: © The Rulers (Byron & Kruge The Executioner) vs. The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) Petey Barnes vs. Crusher Von Steinberg Cage match for the EWA Women’s Championship: © Zofia Jankovic vs. Cassie O’Peter Eric Future vs. Magnus Cage Christopher Lister & The Globetrotters (Eugen Samper & Jason Dempsey) vs. Bam Bam Johansson & The Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) Gypsy Rose vs. Maisie Laurels Hammer & Anvil (Ulf Horst & Niklas Kramer) vs. Overkill (Demolition Drebin & Dylan Drama) vs. Michael Gregory & Ferdinand Arneaux Cage match: Stuart Wilson vs. Bas Hagen - News: - It’s being reported that Landon Mallory will, indeed, be taking some time off, for personal reasons. It’s being expected that Paolo Gandalfini & The Rulers will be the centerpiece of the company until Landon’s return. - Predictions: CobheadJake: 3/4; Total:7/10. Great job, once again, Jake!

12. January 2022 Week 4 It’s Saturday night, we’re in Poland’s capital, Warsaw, and we’re about to witness the VWA’s return from the winter break, VWA Price of Victory! VWA Price of Victory Attendance: 555. Location: Warsaw, Poland Card: VWA European Championship: © Hercules Johansson vs. Cub Balowicz The It Crowd (Night Spyder & Lauro Giordano) vs. Thunderbolt & Abominable Snowman Randy Haute vs. Pavel Vanzycha Merle O’Curle & The Bern Boys (Fabian Schwarz & Hans Piccard) vs. Giancarlo Cabroni, (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm VWA Tag Team Championships: © Total Eclipse (Bret Heartbreak & Wild Child) vs. Jasper January & Ultra Fly Lothar Prime vs. Quake - Dick Kerley & Charlie Grimsson welcome us into a new year of exciting pro wrestling with the VWA! We get an intro package with highlights from Winter Break XIII: we see Pavel Vanzycha’s shenanigans in the 6 man tag match he & Team Italia had against Merle O’Curle & Team Zero Tolerance, and Merle pinning Alessandro Giordano; we see Total Eclipse celebrating another title defense; we see Antonio Arias screaming he quits as Randy Haute locks in the American Armbreaker; we see Cub Balowicz ripping through The It Crowd, & of course, Hercules Johansson standing tall with his belt after a hard fought battle with The Abominable Snowman. Kerley runs down the card, as as soon as the main event is mentioned, the music of Hercules Johansson hits the speakers. - Hercules opens the new season What better way to open up the show than with some words from the European champion, who’s taken the VWA by storm since arriving! The crowd cheers as Hercules Johansson the man who ended the reign of the most dominant heel in the company, Cub Balowicz, enters the ring with a mic in his hand. Hercules: “You know… A year ago, I was in a very different position than the one you see me in right now. I was working as hard as I always did, but things were not coming my way. I had lost my last 6 matches, and when I won, they were some stupid DQ wins that I could hardly be proud of. Then I left the place where I first had my breakthrough in wrestling. I hit the independent shows… I saw fans that were feeling lucky to see me, I got a few wins, I got my confidence back, and all of a sudden, I was Hercules again. I felt mighty. I felt as I should feel.” The crowd cheers despite Hercules not being the greatest promo around. Hercules: “And I started looking for a mountain to climb and claim. And when I saw Cub Balowicz tearing his way through the best of what the VWA has to offer, I knew that was the challenge I had to take. He was knocking people out cold, left and right. It looked like getting booked to fight Cub was getting booked to go from the ring straight to the hospital, and eventually lose some months off your life. But I didn’t care. What I cared about was the glory, I wanted the glory, I wanted the prestige, I wanted to be called “champion”, and I wanted to be regarded as the man on the top of the mountain. And now, you all know who I am…” The crowd gets a “Champion Herc” chant going, a chant that’s been popular at VWA shows since Hercules won the belt. Hercules: “And tonight, Cub thinks he’s getting this back”, Herc says as he raises up the VWA European championship. “Cub Balowicz, you’re a tough man, and no one can deny that. But keep one thing in mind. Your last reign lasted for over a year. Since you won this belt in August 2020, there’s only ONE man who managed to put your shoulders down to the canvas, and keep them there for a count of three. That man was ME, and I DID it TWICE! And if you think the third time’s the charm, you’re in for a lot of harm, my friend!” Hercules tosses the mic to someone from the ringside crew and leaves the ring to a good reaction from the crowd. - Match #1 – Lothar Prime vs. Quake w/ Beth Bilal vs. w/ Lothar Prime left the EWA around the same time as Bret Heartbreak and got picked up by the VWA around the same time too. After a full year with the company, he’s turned out to be a decent midcarder, and hopes are pretty high for him, as he’s got potential to be a breakout star in a year or two. Half of the 6 wins he collected throughout last year were in 1 on 1 matches against Quake. Quake is a big man who’s still trying to find his footing in the ring, despite being with the VWA for 3 years. He’s only 23 years old, but some are suggesting the VWA higher ups are losing their patience with him, as he looks like a perfect old-school monster, but only won 4 matches in the last 2 years, including a run with the tag titles along Giancarlo Cabroni, that no one understood, since they held the titles only so The Bern Boys could win them back. Beth Bilal is Quake’s manager and “The Brain behind The Behemoth”, but she ain’t getting him many victories… The youngsters get to go for 8 minutes, and the growth of them both is visible, as it’s obviously their best match yet and Quake finally doesn’t look like he can carry himself properly in the ring. Lothar manages to outsmart Quake and get him tired by escaping and dodging most of his offense in the last minutes of the match, and he ends it with an impressive Prime Time Fall (similar to Hiroyoshi Tenzan’s TTD), and the crowd surely was impressed with this great feat of strength. Prime now 4-0 against Quake, and Beth can’t be happy with this. Winner: Lothar Prime. - Match #2 – For the VWA Tag Team Championships – © Total Eclipse (Bret Heartbreak & Wild Child) vs. Jasper January & Ultra Fly vs. Bret & Wild Child first tagged in Bret’s second ever VWA match, last year, and it was tag chemistry at first sight, as they defeated Lothar Prime & Jasper January. Two shows later, they were winning the tag titles off The Bern Boys as Total Eclipse, and they beat the Bern Boys in the rematch too. Who would have thought Bret’s first title reign would be in the company that he’s father’s EWA is at war with? Also, Bret is the star of the group, and it’s visible by a mile. Jasper January is an old school face with some pretty cooled momentum *ba dum tss*. He’s a perfectly fine midcard act, and it doesn’t look like he’ll become anything more than that. Also, Jasper has some legit heat with Wild Child, as mister Child said some pretty nasty thigns about Jasper on social media last summer. Ultra Fly is a spectacular high flier and one of Europe’s ultimate risk takers, who’s also spent 2 years in the 21CW early in his career. Now, like Jasper, he’s a solid midcarder and not likely to become more than that anytime soon, since his style of wrestling doesn’t do much good for his longevity. At least he stayed injury free in the last 2 years. Wild Child and Jasper start, as expected, and they go wild on one another, brawling hard and forgetting about their high flying arsenals early on. Eventually the match starts going as expected, with the champions working the babyfaces and on working on Jasper’s left hand until Ultra Fly gets the hot tag. The hot tag goes over well with the crowd, as Ultra Fly’s spectacular offense is as exciting as always. Sadly, all it takes is one dodged Fly By (Ultra Fly’s no hands somersault plancha over the turnbuckle to the outside), and the night soon ends, as Wild Child gets Fly back in the ring, and the champs hit their Wild Night Stand finisher (Pendulum Backbreaker by Bret + jumping double stomp to the chest by Wild Child), Bret gets the pin, and the champs retain. They get a pretty good pop despite being heels, since it’s hard to not be cool when you’re an outlaw son and also a good wrestler. The match was 12 minutes and decent, altho’ some of Wild Child’s offense lacked its usual impact. Winners, and still VWA Tag Team Champions: Total Eclipse . - Match #3 – Merle O’Curle & The Bern Boys (Fabian Schwarz & Hans Piccard) vs. Giancarlo Cabroni and (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm vs. 44yo veteran Merle O’Curle remains a good technical veteran who can force anyone into having a decent match and may even had one more title run in him, despite never holding gold in the 4 years he spent with the VWA. The Bern Boys remain the only Swiss wrestlers around, and their development is still taking time. Hans has been pretty underwhelming, but Fabian hasn’t looked much better. Still, they make for a decent midcard act, and we’ll see if they do go on to become the top guys that they can be. Giancarlo Cabroni has been doing pretty well since the break up between Team Italia and Lauro Giordano, in May 2020. “The Milan Masterpiece” is an alright worker who’s rumored to be in for a push in 2022. Brecher has been wrestling with the VWA since March of last year, and has been a pretty strong midcarder, but only now is his partner, Ralph Grimm, making his VWA debut. Brecher & Grimm get to come in wearing their UEW Tag Team titles. The heel team gets some decent heat out of the crowd during their entrance, with Brecher standing out as the biggest douche, as he spills a fans drink while walking down the ramp. They get 10 minutes, which is enough for everyone to show what they’ve got. The older wrestlers have to guide the young Bern Boys through most of the match, but everyone involved seems to have good chemistry and pull of a decent showing. The match ends when Brecher & Grimm lock in the Munich Crunch on Fabian Schwarz and Giancarlo clotheslines both Merle & Piccard off the apron. Schwarz taps, and Grimm looks happy with the first impression he has made to the VWA fans. Winners: Giancarlo Cabroni and Brecher & Grimm. - Match #4 – Randy Haute vs. Pavel Vanzycha vs. After starting The It Crowd in 2020, with Night Spyder and Lauro Giordano, Randy realized it’s time to go back to putting the younger guys over in 2021. Randy is as beloved as always by the European fans, and he has some momentum, as he’s coming off 3 wins. Pavel Vanzycha has been on a hiatus from July 2020 to May 2021, and to ensure the fans don’t cheer when they see his back, he attacked the celebrating Bern Boys right on his firt night back. As always, he’s a solid midcard act, but we don’t know if he’ll be getting a breakout run anytime soon. The two grapplers get 9 minutes, and they spent about 8 of them grappling on the floor, which is both of their specialty. Sadly, it just didn’t flow nice enough, and they lacked the drama to elevate the match out of “decent, forgettable” tier. If anything, this match gave the crowd a break so they could get hot for the bigger attractions. The match ended when Randy found a way to reverse a bulldog attempt into his American Armbreaker, and Pavel tapped quickly. Winner: Randy Haute. - Match #5 – The It Crowd (Lauro Giordano & Night Spyder) vs. Thunderbolt & Abominable Snowman vs. The It Crowd is a group of easy to like babyface buddies that started when Night Spyder convinced Lauro Giordano to become a nice guy. United by the fact they both believe to have the “it” factor, they tried to prove to head booker Randy Haute they all have “it”, and so they formed the now beloved It Crowd stable. Sadly, nowadays, Lauro is a lower midcarder, but he has been building up a feud with VWA Swiss champion Matthew Macks on social media during the winter break. Spyder ain’t doing much better, as they rarely win over major acts. The It Crowd is mostly a stable that’s there to make the heels get over and get the fans to hope they actually might prove they have “it” at some point. Thunderbolt turned heel a year ago, and he even had a tag team with Lars Brecher before Grimm’s VWA debut. He’s been a constant thorn in The It Crowd’s side for the better part of last year, and it looks like he won’t stop until the faces accept that they just don’t have “it”. Snowman is as awesome as ever, a giant that works pretty well for his size, and a constant present in the upper midcard scene, who can easily put over any face European champion. Lauro and Thunderbolt start, as Lauro feels forced to prove that he has “it”. Both guys go back and forth in spectacular exchanges, and the crowd eats of out Lauro’s hands, while Thunderbolt’s hands focus more on beating Lauro. Sadly, Lauro’s wrestling itself ain’t great tonight, as he makes a bunch of small botches, but thankfully, the heels are on point and fill in well, taunting instead of selling when Lauro misses his offense, and making sure every chop sounds as hard as possible. The ending sees VWA Swiss champion Matthew Macks come in and distracting the ref, allowing Thunderbolt to hit a super kick and his Thunder Driver finisher on Lauro, to end the match. The guys got a good 12 minutes, and delivered what was, to this point, the most enjoyable match of the night. After the match, as Macks was mocking Lauro, Spyder runs toward him and Macks legs it out of the arena. Spyder then comes back to help Lauro recollect himself. Winners: Thunderbolt & Abominable Snowman. - Match #6 – For the VWA European Championship: © Hercules Johansson vs. Cub Balowicz vs. Cub makes his way and he’s looking as a legit as possible, with a nice dark jacket, the hood on, and a bunch of boos that he ignores as he walks up to the ring. He’s practicing his killer left hook, and he’s lookin’ as game as always. In his most recent VWA match, Cub KO’ed Lauro Giordano. Hercules Johansson is coming to a loud ovation. The world is ready, let’s get to the main event. Cub runs in with the left hook right away, but Herc blocks it and headbutts Cub, as the crowd pops and Cub looks in disbelief. Cub gets up and tries to strike again, but after two missed punches, Herc counters with a kick to the body, goes for a power bomb, but Cub escapes and gets of the ring to earn himself some time to come up with a better plan (or maybe just to piss of Herc). Cub keeps going out of the ring as soon as things don’t go his way, and eventually Herc gets mad and follows him, and it backfires when Herc runs shoulder first into the stairs. From that point, Cub sets his eyes on Herc’s right shoulder, kicking it, pressuring it with submissions and trying to make Herc hurt it by using his momentum against him. Still, despite everything, Cub keeps blocking Cub’s left hook attempts throughout the match with his right hand. But 14 minutes in, Herc’s right shoulder is finally hurt enough that he can’t lift his hand to block, and Cub hits the Left Hook right on the chin. The problem for him is, then, that Herc falls through the ropes, all the way down to the floor. Cub’s a big strong man, the problem is that Herc is bigger by about 60-70lbs of muscle, so getting him back in the ring was a struggle. He doesn’t even waste time going for the pin since he knows it’s too late, he gets Herc in the Fireman’s Carry position, likely looking for the Necksnap Drop (Neckbreaker from firemen’s carry), but Herc manages to get out and take him down with another headbutt. It takes them both a while to get up, and when they do, Cub tries the Left Hook again, but Herc ducks under, grabs Cub lifts him as if for an Alabama Slam, but instead of having his legs rest on his shoulders, they are in the air, as he basically holds his hands straight up. He hits the damn Mighty Slam (basically an Alabama Slam, but Herc holds the opponent by the ankles, with his hands straight up), he falls on top of Cub for the three count, and it’s over! This might have been Herc’s best 1 on 1 match ever, and while that ain’t saying much, it’s a great thing for himself and the VWA. 16 minutes, good drama and pretty good action, Hercules is now THREE TO O AGAINST CUB BALOWICZ! Winner, and still VWA European champion: Hercules Johansson. - As the show ends, Dick Kerley runs down the matches that have been confirmed for next months VWA Budapest 2022: Bret Heartbreak will team up with Team Italia to take on Jasper January & Despair Faction; Brecher & Grimm will fight Lauro & Night Spyder of The It Crowd; and Hercules will be defending his title against The Abominable Snowman, once again! - Show stats: - Rating: 56. - Viewership: 25 452. - MOTN: Johansson vs. Balowicz – 58. - As for next week, we got another busy week incoming, with 3 shows on the menu! Hammer & Anvil are already ringside. Mark Stanford & Dougie Horwood talk about tonight’s huge card, hyping the title matches and especially Byron’s return. - Match #1 – Hammer & Anvil (Ulf Horst & Niklas Kremer) vs. Ferdinand Arneaux & Michael Gregory vs. Hammer & Anvil are a babyface team of hard working, no-nonsense grapplers who are still in their first years in the business, and still pay they dues. They are yet to have a proper decent match in EWA, and they only had 1 win in their 2 years with the company, but make no mistake, Byron has high hopes for these youngsters. As mentioned before, Arneaux is a decent midcarder that lacks momentum as of now, while Gregory is yet to properly find his footing in EWA since coming over from the Swiss rivals, VWA, finding himself in a similar position to Arneaux and his regular partner, Bam Johansson, floating around the midcard. The match is a pretty sub-par squash, as Hammer & Anvil barely get any offense in, as the heels decimate them. It ends after 4 minutes, when Michael Gregory hits his Overpower Slam finisher on Ulf Horst and gets the pin. Winners: Ferdinand Arneaux & Michael Gregory. - Masters of Evil meet in the Throne Room The camera cuts backstage, to what we’ve been told is the MoE’s Throne Room. Landon Mallory is walking angrily around his throne, holding a kendo stick. The camera pans out and we can see Crusher Von Steinberg, who bears bruises, presumably made with the kendo stick that Landon’s holding. Colossal Karl is also in the room. LM: What have we learned in these past few days, Sir Von Steinberg? Crusher: Win or lose, we not lose… We must win… Enemy hold rope, me must let go.. LM: You’re such a great student, my friend! Karl! You’d do good to keep your brain healthy, I like students that don’t need me to bruise them to learn the lessons I teach. Karl: I’ll do my best, sir. Thank you for your leadership. LM: It’s my pleasure, you stud! NOW! Crusher, big man, in order to make sure you’ve understood all that I thought you, we will be engaging ourselves in some good old tag team wrestling, you and me! Maybe we’ll even go on a tag titles run! After all, I blessed these unthankful peasants enough with my 1 on 1 greatness, let’s mix things up! The camera pans out. - Match #2 – Steel Cage match: Cassie O’Peter vs. Maisie Laurels vs. Why are these two fighting in a Steel Cage, you might wonder? Probably because the cage costed some decent money and Byron wants a return on his investment. Still, weird choice of contestants. Cassie is being positioned to make a splash, as she’s been often sharing the ring with champion Zofia Jankovic in recent weeks. Maisie, on the other hand, has not lost a match since early October 2021, and she’ll tell that to everyone who’ll listen. So it’s interesting to see who goes higher up the ladder here. These two pretty good wrestlers put on a pretty disappointing match. They go back and forth for 6 minutes, and the match ends when Maisie escapes the cage after Cassie misses a splash off the top rope. Underwhelming, and definitely not warranted a steel cage. Winner: Maisie Laurels by escaping the cage. - Double Dutch come out to address the title match The smallest male wrestlers in the EWA, Frank Van Heer and Henrick Van Bon come out to a great ovation. They interact to the fans on their way to the ring, hop in and demand a pair of microphones. HVB: Now, we’ll go straight to the point. The owner of the company has been standing back and preparing, while other teams have been busting their asses around the continent, and now he’s put himself and his goon in a title match, over the likes of Addams Family, over the likes of The Nigerian Hit Squad, and even over the likes of the awful but worthy Masters of Evil. What y’all think about that? The crowd boos loudly. FVH: Byron, you big dum… Before Frank can say what’s on his heart, the music of The Rulers interrupts him, as Byron and Kruge arrive. Byron is waving to the crowd as if he’s Francis Ngannou arriving to Cameroon. Byron: Good evening Germany, good evening Munich! The German crowd obviously boos. Byron: It’s lovely to know I’ve been missed! Sadly, during these last weeks, I’ve been busy ensuring the EWA continues it’s amazing growth, and ensuring other talented wrestlers get the opportunities they are due. As you all know I just hate hogging the spotlight from the up and comers! FVH: You’ve been hiding like a worm, Byron! The crowd seems to agree with Frank. Byron: Henrick, keep your goon’s mouth in check when the vets talk, please. Kruge: Yea, shut up goon! HVB: Cut the silliness, Byron, me and Frank are equals and comrades for life, the only goon around here is Kruge The Executioner! Kruge is about to go to the ring, but Byron holds him back. Byron: How inadequate to call my respectable friend a goon! Anyway, allow me to get to my point. You see, Double Dutch, when’s the last time that YOU wrestled? Let me check on EWAEntertainment.com… oh, it was on the same night as my most recent match! Well, well, well, aren’t you being hypocritical? While I was pushing mountains and fighting hurricanes for the good of the company, you’ve declined all the matches I’ve been proposing for you lately… HVB: Cut it, Byron! We’ve been calling you and the booking team all month looking for some action, we even travelled to the shows despite not having anything booked! Byron: Don’t listen to their lies, good people! After all, here are the facts that are certain: you’ve had the exact same time to prepare for our match as I did! And Kruge, my dear friend, has been working his muscles off in this very ring, on a weekly basis, gaining wear and tear! And don’t I deserve a Tag Titles rematch, since at New Year Smash I didn’t get to have my dear Kruge with me? HVB: Frank dropkicked you through a table as clean as possible, and you spent the last weeks getting fake tan, Byron, you don’t deserve anything! Again, the German fans agree with the babyfaces. Byron: That was a cheap cheapshot, and the whole world saw it! Byron finally seems to have cracked, as his face goes red and he starts screaming. Byron: Whether you like it or not, TONIGHT, YOU HAVE A JOB TO DO! YOU DEFEND THOSE BELTS AGAINST ME AND KRUGE THE EXECUTIONER, AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, JUST HANDLE US THE BELTS AND GET OVER WITH IT! The Rulers go to the back, in a choir of boos. - Match #3 – Jason Dempsey & The Addams Familiy (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) w/ Krystyna vs. Magnus Cage & Overkill (Demolition Drebin & Dylan Drama) w/ vs. You’re probably familiar with both Dempsey and The Addams Family team, but I forgot to properly introduce you Dempsey’s manager, the beautiful Krystyna. She’s Jason’s kayfabe girlfriend, mostly there to humanize his violent character. She’s definitely NOT just eye candy! Magnus Cage is still your easy to hate annoying midcard act, while Overkill have been tagging for a bit over a year. Both Overkill members are young up and comers with big potential, but Drebin seems to be booked stronger than his partner. It’s a decent short match that gets 5 minutes and does what it was supposed to, showcasing all six performers, with Jimmi Addams, Jason Dempsey and Magnus Cage impressing the crowd the most. The match ends when The Addams catch Drebin with the Family Meeting (Jumping running knees to the chest and the back). Jimmi got the pin, and the match was over. Winners: Jason Dempsey & The Addams Family. - Match #4 – Eric Future & Christopher Lister vs. Masters Of Evil (UEW Universal champion Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinberg) w/ Colossal Karl vs. w/ Future & Lister come out to a great reaction, as the crowd seems to love Lister’s association with the Future X members. Landon looks pretty confident that Crusher truly learned his lesson as they come to the ring. He whispers something into Karl’s ear before the match starts. They have a pretty good 9 minutes match. Crusher and Lister start the match, and Lister tries to be technical, but technique hardly works when your opponent is a 290lbs deranged piece of muscle. Crusher gets great heat from the crowd as he controls Lister with painful holds and violent slams. After 3 minutes of violence, Landon hops in, but Future gets in on the action himself. They have some great moments, as both Future and Landon flow beautifully, and Landon uses distractions from Karl to maintain control. 7 minutes in, Crusher is in a similar situation to last week, as he gets Chris Lister in the Mind Crusher, but Lister holds the ropes. Landon shouts at Crusher to stop, and Crusher reluctantly listens. Visibly mad, Crusher kicks Lister’s body and goes and tags in Landon, but again, Lister manages to tag in Future. The ending sequence sees Landon beating Future with his usual finishing sequence, getting the 1-2-3 after hitting the New Level (Paydirt). The crowd’s reaction is mixed, as they all dislike Landon’s shenanigans, but can’t help but appreciate his in ring performances. Winners: Masters of Evil. - Match #5 – For the EWA Tag Team Championships: © Double Dutch (Frank Van Heer & Henrick Van Bon) vs. The Rulers (Byron & Kruge The Executioner) vs. Double Dutch are small physically, and Van Heer is pretty skinny too, but that just adds to their underdog fire, as they are some of the most beloved underdogs the European scene has ever seen. The German crowd heavily riles behind them. The Rulers get the exact reaction you’d expect, a ton of boos, despite Byron’s face-ish poses. Kruge and Henrick start. As expected, there’s not much HVB can do to Kruge early on, because of the huge size discrepancy. The face tries to hit take out Kruge’s leg with kicks, but Kruge just marches on and punishes Henrick with big punches, double axes and slams. After 2 minutes, Kruge invites Frank to tag in. Frank hops in, and he initially does well, getting Kruge down with a drop kick and being competitive afterwards. Byron eventually tags in, and his heel shtick gets the crowd going crazy, as he toys with Frank’s with slams and painful submission holds. Military presses, body slams, backdrops, suplexes, all while flexing his tanned muscles, Byron makes the Munich crowd hate him. The heels cut the ring in half and torture Frank for a while, and Frank’s selling rallies the crowd. As traditon requires, he gets the hot tag, but Henrick’s burst doesn’t last long, as Byron rakes his eyes and gets slamming again. Still, Henrick manages to counter Byron’s clothesline attempt with an arm drag, and get some momentum again. But Kruge gets a blind tag and he comes with a big boot from behind. Henrick manages to counter Kruge’s Beheading attempt, but Byron gets in and stops Hernicks’s momentum. Trying to even the odds, Frank tries to get in, but the ref stops him and disciplines him. While the ref is busy, Byron grabs one of the titles and smashes Henrick in the head with it, Kruge hits The Beheading stomp, and it’s over! We have new champions! It was a pretty good 8 minutes match. The crowd boos frantically, and Frank Van Heer needs to be restrained so he doesn’t attack Byron in anger. It’s the first Tag Titles run for both heels, and they both look proud with their achievement. Winners, and new EWA Tag Team Champions: The Rulers. - Match #6 – For the EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Petey Barnes vs. Petey Barnes has a look of great determination on his face, and since the good guys have been collecting a lot of Ls today, the crowd is extremely eager to see Petey come out on top. Paolo Gandalfini comes out as cocky as always, showing off his muscles and basking in the boos of the majority of the crowd, but also in the sweet eyes of some of the women in the audience that admire him. Both guys go all out in the short 6 minutes they get, wanting to make this feel like a proper main event despite the little time they get. Petey goes above and beyond to make Paolo feel like an unstoppable prick, while Paolo makes Petey work for every piece of offense he gets in, and the crowd gets excited every time Petey gets some momentum. Sadly for Pete, as the match reaches the 6th minute mark, they do the classic spot, Paolo rolls Petey up, and he defends his belt once again, attracting a wave of boos from the crowd. As Gandalfini lifts his hands and his belt to a choir of boos, an angered Petey Barnes hits a low blow kick behind, and hits his X-Cutter (Forward Somersault Cutter, similar to Charlotte’s Natural Selection). The crowd erupts with cheers, as Petey lays in some more punches to Paolo for good measure, and then promises them this isn’t over. - As the show ends, Mark Stanford informs us that for next week, Weekly Warfare comes early, on Thursday, and we’ll be seeing Landon Mallory & Crusher taking on now former tag champions, Double Dutch, and that Gandalfini will be defending the Intercontinental championship against Petey’s tag team partner, Eric Future! Then, on Friday, at EWA Madness In Bremen, Zofia Jankovic will defend her title in a steel cage, against Cassie O’Peter; Petey Barnes will be in action against Crusher Von Steinberg, and The Rulers will be making their first title defense, against The Addams Family! - Show stats: - Rating: 54. - Viewership: 48 307. - MOTN: Gandalfini vs. Barnes – 59. - Tomorrow night, get ready, ‘cause VWA returns after their winter break! 15. January 2022 Week 3 This Friday, after a successful trip to Switzerland, the EWA continues it’s international touring as they stop in Krakow, with an episode of Weeky Warfare that’s to be main evented by Paolo Gandalfini defending his championship for the third week in a row, against Christopher Lister, IN A TABLES MATCH! EWA Weekly Warfare #27 Attendance: 541. Location: Krakow, Poland. Card: Table match for the EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Christopher Lister Eric Future & The Globetrotters (Jason Dempsey & Eugen Samper) vs. Kruge The Executioner & Team Amazement (Michael Gregory & Bam Bam Johansson) Gypsy Rose & Cassie O’Peter vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Maisie Laurels The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Masters of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Colossal Karl) As always, we are being welcomed by the beloved duo of Mark Stanford & Dougie Horwood, and as soon as Dougie expresses his excitement for the main event, Paolo Gandafini’s music plays. - Paolo Gandalfini opens up the show (minor bonus: I’ve started adding the entrance music for angles where the guys come to the ring! Check out the theme I found for the Masters of Evil in the last post, it’s pretty cool if you like metal!) The Intercontinental champion makes his way to the ring. He’s looking as fine as ever, he’s oiled up like crazy, and he likely has nothing good to say. And most of the crowds boo him, altho’ some ladies to stare at him with shiny eyes. PG: Good evening, Krakow, Poland! The crowd boos. PG: Ah, how surprising, uneducated Slavic people booing enviously when they see an educated man, looking like a walking golden statue and basking in success. But I digress. I’m not here to talk smack to Slavic people, you do have wonderful women that I’ve been enjoying and that have been enjoying me in my short stay here. Men like me are probably while many of them go to “work” in places like Italy, now that I think about it… Gandalfini is being a cheap heat magnet here. PG: But again, I digress. I’m not here to talk about your boring lives and your loving wives. I’m here to talk about me, my situation, my ambitions, and my needs. You see, I fancy myself an unstoppable wrestler. And I like getting paid. And you know when I’m paid the biggest paychecks? When I defend my championship. And you see this chest? You see these beautiful, muscular arms? When you work out, they grow, and oh boy did they grow a lot since I’ve been carrying the EWA on my back, haven’t they? So I need a new wardrobe! And I can’t just go to H&M or Bershka or what you peasants wear around here and buy a 6 Euros t-shirt! When I buy a suit, the price tag itself costs more than what you lot wear right now. So to live like I deserve to live, I have to put in a little work. So I called up Byron, the greatest businessman around here, and we came to a conclusion: I like getting paid, he likes seeing me wrestle, he likes the way I look with championship gold around my waist, and he thinks it’s good business. Also, he knows I can smack most of the roster like it’s nobody’s business. So not only did I defend my title 2 weeks ago, not only did I defend it last week, not only will I defend it tonight, I’ll defend it next week, and I’ll defend it in two weeks time too! ‘Cause I do love my job, and I do love my paycheck. And the more you like my opponents, the more fun it will be to destroy them, so here’s the plan: this week, Lister goes through a table. Next week, Petey Barnes gets X-ed. And in two weeks time, Eric Future gets the main event nobody wants – his worthless & futureless ass against my gorgeous muscles. Now ciao, cretini! - Match #1 – The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Masters of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Colossal Karl) w/ Landon Mallory vs. w/ The Addams make their way to the ring with some real momentum, as they’ve had a pretty start to the year, and the Polish fans seem to sympathize them. Mallory is walking in front of his stable mates as they walk down the ramp. He looks confident as he whispers some advice to Karl before the match starts. He’d probably whisper some advice to Crusher too, if Crusher would seem able to comprehend it. The match starts with Crusher and Kalvin in the ring. Crusher ain’t the kind of guy the Addams want to brawl with, so they have to settle on waiting for him to make mistakes instead of being their usual scrappy selves. Luckily for them, with Crusher, you don’t have to wait a lot for mistakes to come, so the first 4 minutes are pretty even. Karl tags in and throws the faces around like a kid wrestling his teddy bear. He is pretty sloppy tho, often mistiming his strikes, barely selling anything, and throwing the faces at kinda weird angles, but happily, nothing really bad happens. Karl and Crusher get beating the heck out of Jimmi Addams, to Mallory’s delight. The problem appears when, 10 minutes in, Crusher locks in the Mind Crusher on Jimmi, who manages to grab the ropes. Landon desperately screams at Crusher to stop, but Crusher doesn’t cooperate, getting his team disqualified, and making Mallory extremely mad. The Addams got the win, tho, and the announcer calling them the victors gets a decent pop from the crowd, and Landon is still screaming at Crusher as the “victors” make their way to the back. Winners: The Addams Family, by DQ.   Match #2 – Gypsy Rose & Cassie O’Peter vs. EWA Women’s champion Zofia Jankovic & Maisie Laurels vs. This is Rose’s first appearance since losing the Women’s championship to Zofia, while Cassie is coming off a defeat in last week’s tag match with her and Serena Ventura against Zofia and Machiko Matsuda. The triumphant Zofia is glad to get to fight G Rose without having to put her title on the line, as it took her a lot of time to come up with the right plan to beat Rose 1 v 1, and an extra risk-free shot at redemption is surely welcomed. Maisie will also love to get her hands on Rose, as she’s the last person she’s lost to, back in October 2021. Since then, Maisie’s been squashing girls left and right, with her most recent W coming against Matilda Persson, in the first official EWA match of 2022. The ladies put together a respectable effort, as Cassie and Zofia still mostly carry the match, like last weeks, but their partners also do a better job at filling in than Serena and Machiko did last week. It’s 15 minutes of pretty good back and forth action, and the ending section sees Cassie downed next to barricade, as Zofia and Maisie overwhelm Gypsy Rose in the corner. Maisie barely drags her up so Zofia can hit her Widowmaker Kick (Dragon Kick), Zofia gets the count to three, and again, Zofia stands tall. She’s smiling as she makes her way to the back. Winners: Zofia Jankovic & Maisie Laurels. - Match #3 – Eric Future & The Globetrotters (Eugen Samper & Jason Dempsey w/ Krystyna) vs. Kruge The Executioner & Team Amazement (Michael Gregory & Bam Bam Johansson) w/ vs. This is Future’s 3rd 6 man tag team match for the year. Did anyone inform him there are no plans for 6 man tag titles in EWA? Whatever. The Globetrotters have been tagging since September of 2020, and they’ve been a decent midcard act, that’s mostly used to try and get Eugen Samper some experience other than getting squashed by the more experienced guys. You probably know Kruge by now, extremely tall, got a botched Deadpool mask, thinks having a finisher called “The Beheading” makes him an executioner. Also, he’s pretty over as a heel, and is in a team with Byron, but right now Byron is on his beauty leave, so he trains his tag team skills by accompanying tag teams in 6 man tag matches. Team Amazement is a duo made of former 2 time VWA Swiss champion Michael Gregory and EWA veteran and former 3 time Universal Champion Bam Bam Johansson, who’s been demoted to midcarder status recently and feels like he’ll never heat up again. This is a decent 9 minutes match that never really goes past the 2nd gear. Kruge is being protected, while Bam Bam has to sell more than he’d like, and all the faces get to look pretty decent, although Samper’s newbie enthusiasm leads to a few weird spots. The match ends with Kruge hitting The Beheading Stomp on Eugen and pinning him clean. Winners: Kruge The Executioner & Team Amazement. - Match #4 – Tables match, for the EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Christopher Lister vs. Lister comes out looking ready for action, and the crowd is fully behind the 44yo veteran. He’s been involved in two multi-man Intercontinental title matches last December, but this one is the first time he’s challenging in a 1-on-1 situation since returning to the EWA. Despite eating the pin last week and Gandalfini publically laying out his plans, the fans seem to believe in Lister’s chances. Paolo Gandalfini comes out to a loud choir of boos. He smiles as he watches the tables that are scattered around the ring, and does his usual posing as he makes his entrance. They start fairly classical, with a collar and elbow tie up and many technical exchanges, as Lister seems to have the finer technique, but Paolo’s power saves him and usually gives him the edge. As minutes pass, the tables get introduced in the ring, one being set up near the ropes, one being set up in the corner, and both men often getting their heads smashed into them. Lister teases a suplex through the table, but Gandalfini reverses into a brainbuster. Minutes later, as Gandalfini stands on the apron, Lister hits a drop kick and Gandalfini falls right over a table, without touching it, and smirks at Lister. Gandalfini’s turn comes to tease the finish, as he teases a chokeslam off the top rope through the table, but Lister fights him off with strikes, gets him down off the ropes and hits a diving dropkick. The finish comes when, Gandalfini dodges a corner spear attempt from Lister that would have taken him through a table, but Lister stops right before it was too late. Sadly for him, Gandalfini kicks him under the belt, puts his hands up his necks and finishes the match by Chokeslamming him in the corner, through a table, as the crowd boos Paolo’s heel antics. It was a decent, lengthy but pretty boring 16 minutes long TV main event, to end a decent episode of EWA Weekly Warfare. Winner, and still EWA Intercontinental champion: Paolo Gandalfini. - As the show ends, Mark Stanford lets us now that next week, Byron returns, as The Rulers will challenge Double Dutch for the EWA Tag Team Titles, and Paolo Gandalfini will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Petey Barnes! - Show stats: - Rating: 51. - Viewership: 48 307. - MOTN: Rose & Cassie vs. Zofia & Maisie – 51. - Two days later, on Sunday: ELPF Deadly Game 1: - Merle O’Curle defeats Aurelian Bradley (the 20yo owner of the company); - Eugen Semper defeats Niklas Kramer; - Ronny de Veuster defeats Clubbel Kohl; - Rahabad Lawal defeats Konrad Makinen; - Punisher Paul Hughes defeats Don Henderson to defend the ELPF Nationwide Championship; - Kruge The Executioner defeats Bas Hagen; - Joey Beauchamp defeats Kalu Owusu to defend the ELPF World Championship. - Next week, we have two stacked shows: EWA Weekly Warfare #28, live from Munich, Germany! 16. January 2022 Week 2 It’s Friday, and we’re going to get the follow up on the first EWA special of the year, New Year Smash, where Landon Mallory, Paolo Gandalfini and Double Dutch defended their titles, while Zofia Jankovic kicked off her 4st title reign, defeating Gypsy Rose! This is the first Weekly Warfare episode of the year, and it’s in Switzerland, home of the EWA's big rivals, the VWA! EWA Weekly Warfare #26 Attendance: 571. Location: Zurich, Switzerland. Card: EWA Universal Champion Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinberg (Masters of Evil) vs. Petey Barnes & Christopher Lister Cage match, for the EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Jason Dempsey Eric Future & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Kruge The Executioner & The Nigerian Hit Squad Serena Ventura & Cassie O’Peter vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Machiko Matsuda Eugen Samper & Stuart Wilson vs. Ferdinand Arnaux & Magnus Cage. Mark Stanford and Doug Horwood are at the desk as the show stars, and they barely get a word in when the Masters of Evil theme hits! - Masters of Evil open the show Landon Mallory, with the Universal championship around his waist, walks to the ring with his nose up high, with Crusher Von Steinberg and Colossal Karl by his side. They enter the ring, and Landon gets a mic from the ringside crew. LM: Would you look at that! To my right, it’s the biggest and strongest prospect in wrestling, Colossal Karl, who’s getting coached by the greatest mind around, Landon Mallory! To my left, it’s the baddest man in wrestling, he’s deranged, he’s aggressive, he’ll stop at nothing, he’s CRUSHEEEER VON STEINBEEEERG. In the middle of Zurich, it’s the king of European Wrestling All-Stars, it’s the EWA Universal champion himself, Landon Mallory! The world is my kingdom, and all you peons are lucky to serve me! The world is my kitchen, and you’ll do good to enjoy the blessed slices that I serve you! And this ring is my court room, and at New Year Smash, Petey Barnes broke my law, so I messed up his legs, I broke his face, and as he was falling down, I grabbed the belt that represents my crown, and the whole world applauded. The crowd erupts in a booing choir. LM: And they didn’t applaud because they like me. They applauded because, in spite of their moral compass, they all recognize that I am the best. And they can’t help but respect me. The crowd starts to boo once again. Crusher: RESPECT US! RESPECT US, PEASANTS OF GERMANY! LM: We’re in Switzerland, big guy.. Crusher: RESPEEEEEECT UUUUUUUSSSSS! LM: Well, as I said, we are in Switzerland, so that explains why you guys don’t know a lot about high level pro wrestling… After all, all you guys get around here is that Victory Wresslin shtick, were our rejects hold world titles… (referencing Hercules Johansson, who was 1-6 in his last 7 EWA matches when he left for the VWA). The crowd starts to boo even harder, and “Landon sucks” chants start to echo around the room. LM: But let’s get down to bu.. The music of Future X interrupts the champion, and along with Petey Barnes and Eric Future, there's also Christopher Lister. Mallory starts laughing, and when he finally manages to stop, he has this to say: LM: Petey, my man! I didn’t even know you travelled all the way to this place! What’s wrong with you!? PB: Talk all you want, Landon. Make no mistake, if your goons wouldn’t have interfered in our business last week, right now, your “crown” would be up here on my shoulder, and that’s a fact. Crusher: RESPECT UUUUUUSSS! RE.. LM: I got this, Crush, calm down. Petey boi, if Eric Future wouldn’t be there to fill in where YOU fail, no one would know who you are today. Even now, Eric’s busy, so you got flabbin’ Toby Juan Kenobi by your side (reference to Lister’s Star Wars themed gimmick from the mid 2000s). So it’s pretty obvious to me YOU ain’t worth an Euro by yourself, so what’s your point? I’m sorry that my friends love me enough to have my back! Lister: No one loves you, Landon! Crusher’s brain is a brick, and Karl is more misguided and confused than I was in my Toby Juan days! PB: Good points, Lister! Now, understand this, Landon. Tonight, it’s “bring a friend to the match” night. You and Crusher, me and Lister, the main event is set already. And I’ll be sure to pin you tonight. And after that happens, there’s no way you slip out of a rematch with me, “your highness”! LM: Haha.. You think you’re so smart, Petey. Here’s the deal. If you win, I don’t care what happens, since you won’t. WHEN we win, you don’t get to step in the ring with me ever again. Or at least until I decide so. I talked with Byron beforehand, this deal is set in stone, and YOU get no say in it. Now, I got no more time to waste with you, so I won’t. See ya in the main event. Landon throws the mic away and makes his way to the back, with his partners. - Match #1 – Eugen Samper & Stuart Wilson vs. Ferdinand Arneaux & Magnus Cage Neither Samper n’or Wilson are extremely close to becoming meaningful guys in EWA at the moment. Sadly, the same can be said for Arneaux & Cage, so this was pretty much just a warm-up match to have the guys get some experience in front of a crowd that was lit up by Mallory & Barnes. The match went for 5 minutes, and it ended with Magnus Cage hitting the Overblown Trumpet, a big chop to the ear that got Stuart Wilson groggy enough to get rolled up for the count to three. It was a perfectly decent showcase from the lower card guys. Winners: Ferdinand Arneaux & Magnus Cage. - Interview time : Paolo Gandalfini Dougie Horwood makes his way backstage, where IC champion Paolo Gandalfini is waiting to be interviewed. DH: Paolo Gandalfini, last week, you pinned Jason Dempsey in the triple threat match against him and Kruge The Executioner, defending your Intercontinental championship. Tonight, you face Dempsey again, inside a steel cage. What are your thoughts on this? PG: What are my thoughts? You see, Doug, just as I told you last week, Byron has a great mind for the business. Other bookers might have seen last week and thought “Oh, Kruge didn’t take the pin, he must get another shot!”. But Byron is smarter than that. He knows Paolo Gandalfini with gold around his waist is one of the best sights in this company. He knows Gandalfini in a steel cage is money. And he knows the weaker my opponent is, the more fun everyone watching will have. Dempsey will be my easiest defense to date, and I’d like to congratulate our boss, Byron, for doing the smart thing in allowing this lion to toy with his food in a steel cage. Ciao. Paolo walks off before Doug can say another word. - Match #2 – Serena Ventura & Cassie O’Peter vs. EWA Women’s champion Zofia Jankovic & Machiko Matsuda vs. Serena Ventura is a 24yo young German babyface who’s push is still on hold. Cassie O’Peter was involved in the fairly successful Dublin Gals team with Blair Kerrigan, until she and Blair fell out, last October. Blair left the company, and Cassie’s been left without too much to do, floating around in the division. Zofia is making her first appearance since winning the title again, and the fans are booing, but she doesn’t pay them any attention. Behind her, the fabolous Machiko Matsuda is coming to the ring, looking as fancy and game as always. This was 8 minutes that mostly saw the experienced Zofia & Machiko taking the babyfaces to school and controlling for most of the match, with Cassie O’Peter’s hot tag being a decent highlight for the faces. Serena looked out of her depth, while Zofia & Cassie seemed to have pretty good chemistry. The match ended with Zofia’s Widowmaker Kick (Dragon Kick) knocking Ventura out cold, followed by a cocky pin from the Belarusian champion. It was a pretty good match, mostly carried by Zofia and Cassie. Winners: Zofia Jankovic & Machiko Matsuda. - Match #3 – Eric Future & The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Kruge The Executioner & The Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) vs. Future got the pin in the New Year Smash trios tag against the NHS and Arneaux, and will hope to gain more momentum here. The Addams were pretty close to winning the tag titles in their last outing, with Jimmi being the last man to be eliminated in the three way tables teams match, where he also eliminated Byron clean as a whistle. Meanwhile, Kruge is madder than usual, as he’s coming off a pretty dirty loss, and the NHS can’t be too happy with how their last match went either. The crowd is divided between the faces and the heels, with “E-ric Fu-ture/Kill him Kruge” chants echoing throughout the match. Despite the crowd’s enthusiasm, the match was pretty mediocre and ended 7 minutes in, when Kruge hit Kalvin Addams with The Beheading, his finishing head stomp. It wasn’t too bad, but the NHS’s lack of mobility and speed (especially Rashids) did hurt the match. Winners: Kruge The Executioner & The Nigerian Hit Squad. - Match #4 – For the EWA Intercontinental Championship, a steel cage match: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Jason Dempsey vs. Well, it looks like Dempsey isn’t being booked as a viable winner, but as a lamb to the slaughter. Still, the crowd cheers as he appears, as he’s known to always bring some quality violence, and putting him in a steel cage seems like a good idea. As he enters the cage, he throws a steel chair in there, and he also has a chain tied around his hand. You do you, Jason! Gandalfini is coming out posing for his fans, as always, although he’s receiving more boos than cheers (which is the intent, so good job Paolo). He’s looking confident and smug as always. The match offers 11 minutes of enjoyable action. Initially, Dempsey manages to punch Gandalfini while having the chain tied around his fist, and he also gets some chairshots in, but as as soon as Gandalfini gets in some damage, he throws the chair out of the cage and starts using the chain to whip Dempsey’s back. He even tears Dempsey’s tank top, and the bruises on Dempsey’s back are not nice. Eventually, Dempsey regains control and smashes Gandalfini’s pretty face into the steel walls of the cage. Gandalfini ain’t really a lion playing with his prey. But still, as Dempsey had Paolo set up for a superplex, Paolo manages to use the chain to strangle Dempsey, and the match ends brutally, as Gandalfini chokes out his opponent with the chain. Good job from both men here, and this loss likely elevated Dempsey in the eyes of many. Winner, and still EWA Intercontinental champion: Paolo Gandalfini. - Match #5 – Petey Barnes & Christopher Lister vs. Masters of Evil (EWA Universal champion Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinberg) vs. Barnes and Lister come out to the Future X music and applause from the crowd. It feels like Lister is a honorary Future X member, since he tagged along with Eric Future last week, and also tagged pretty often with Barnes last December. It really suits him, since he was in a team named The X Force in his days as Toby Juan Kenobi and he complements nicely with Barnes and Future. The Masters of Evil come out, and they seem to be more hated than ever. Colossal Karl is ringside along Crusher and Landon. Petey Barnes starts for the faces, and Landon teases starting the match for his team, but he immediately tags Crusher in, and it’s no time for mind games when CVS enters the ring, as he runs straight at Barnes, but gets countered by the smaller man’s agility and quickness. Barnes and Lister manage to control Crusher early on, but he eventually gets his hands on Lister, and he doesn’t hold back when he does so, hitting hard and slamming even harder, and occasionally tagging Mallory in, to sprinkle a few strikes of his own in between. After about 5 minutes of being decimated, Lister finally makes the hot tag for Petey Barnes, and Barnes dropkicks Crusher off the apron and hits all his signature moves on Landon. But obviously, Landon moves out of the way of Petey’s Crossed X (Diving Crossbody), halting Pete’s momentum. A brawl starts, as Lister tries to stop the heels from teaming up on his partner, and things go pretty wild. Eventually, Lister and Landon find themselves as the legal guys, and Landon manages to reverse Lister’s High Ground Cut (Avalanche Cutter) by holding the ropes, and he finishes Lister off with a jumping New Level (basically Shelton Benjamin’s Paydirt), and makes the pin as Crusher stops Barnes from breaking it up. The match was 13 minutes of decent action that mostly kept the crowd engaged. The look on the face of Petey Barnes shows a lot of disappointment, while Lister will take a while to get up. As the victorious Masters of Evil make their way to the back, Landon lets the fans know he “always hated Switzerland” and “Zurich is Europe’s trash can”. Winners: Masters of Evil. As the show is ending, Mark Stanford lets us knows that next week, when EWA goes to Krakow, we will be seeing Gandalfini attempting another title defense, in a tables match against Chris Lister, and also Zofia Jankovic teaming up with Maisie Laurel to take on Cassie O’Peter & Gypsy Rose. - Show stats: - Rating: 53. - Viewership: 47 872. - MOTN: Barnes & Lister vs. Mallory & Crusher – 56. - News: - It’s rumored that Byron didn’t travel to EWA’s Zurich show because he thinks the Swiss fans hate him for his war with VWA. It’s also believed that Byron was behind the shots Landon Mallory took at Hercules Johansson and the VWA in the opening of Weekly Warfare. - Kalu Owusu spoke on his departure from the UEW. “I’ve had great years there, and a big part of my legacy remains with UEW. The door is definitely open for future business. But for now, I want to take it easier, and the UEW style is very demanding. I’m 44 and it’s starting to show, whether I like it or not”. Kalu is a three time UEW World champion, with his most recent reign ending in February of 2019. Before that, he wrestled for the Japanese company INSPIRE, and for the EWA, where he had two Universal title reigns. Kalu will challenge Joey Beauchamp for the ELPF Championship at the next ELPF event, next week. - Now, besides the first ELPF event of the year, next week will bring us: EWA Weekly Warfare #27, live from Krakow, Poland! Card: Table match for the EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Christopher Lister Eric Future & The Globetrotters (Jason Dempsey & Eugen Samper) vs. Kruge The Executioner & Team Amazement (Michael Gregory & Bam Bam Johansson) Gypsy Rose & Cassie O’Peter vs. EWA Women’s Champion Zofia Jankovic & Maisie Laurels The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Masters of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Colossal Karl)
17. January 2022 Week 1 It’s Saturday night and we’re in Valencia, Spain, where almost 600 wrestling fans have gathered to experience UEW live! UEW Kings of Wrestling Attendance: 592. Location: Valencia, Spain Card: 1. UEW Nations Championship: © Marcello Ricci vs. Menace 2. Jase Cole vs. Kalu Owusu 3. UEW World Championship: © Punisher Paul Hughes vs. Joey Beauchamp 4. UEW Tag Team Championships: © (Lars) Brecher & (Ralph) Grimm vs. Cub Balowicz & Don Henderson 5. Gordon Leve & Juan Mandoza vs. Irwin Guttman & Konrad Makinen 6. Alexander Knyazev vs. Clubber Kohl 7. Xavi Machismo vs. Red Dragon 8. Katsunosuki Ninomyia vs. Teruki Nakayama Mark Stanford & Ali Bloxsome welcome us to the show. They run down the card, and Ali expresses his excitement for the World title fight between veterans Paul Hughes and Beauchamp, and also for Jase Cole vs. Kalu Owusu, while Stanford informs us that the Nations championship match will main event the night. - Match #1 – Katsunosuki Ninomyia vs. Teruki Nakayama UEW is currently welcoming a whooping 15 Japanese young lions from BHOTWG, and these two are some of the hottest. Katsunosuki is a 20yo goth babyface, he’s 6 foot tall and is a bit flabby, and his high flying moveset makes him a fascinating athlete. He’s been with UEW since late 2020, but this is the first time he gets to wrestle on the main show. His opponent, a classic heel giant, Teruki Nakayama is 6’6, weighs over 300lbs, who sports a bit of a belly, but also slaps his opponents like a seal. He’s got to spend a full year in Japan before being sent to UEW in late 2020. He’s pretty used to the lights of the main show, but yet to win in a main show match, going 0-3 in his first attempts. The big guys get a good 6 minutes. Teruki slaps Katsuno around and leaves big red marks on his skin, while Katsuno manages to reverse some big moves and hit some dropkicks, but ultimately, he fails to stay on top for too much time. As Katsunosuki tries to spear Teruki, Teruki simply sprawls, manages to lift Katsuno for a Crucifix Powerbomb, and pins him for the 1-2-3. The crowd didn’t care much, and you can tell Teruki isn’t too happy as he was a bit sloppy throughout the match, while his opponent looked more smooth. Winner: Teruki Nakayama. - Match #2 – Xavi Machismo vs. Red Dragon Xavi Machismo finally is considered a good babyface, after he needed to be heel to be taken seriously by the fans initially. He’s a perfectly solid midcarder, and the fans cheer him on as he enters the ring in his leather jacket and leather pants. 43yo veteran Red Dragon is still going pretty strong, as he had a pretty good 2021 and is coming off a win. He’s hardly setting the world on fire, but he’s a guy the younger wrestlers can learn from. Also, he spent more than half of last year as a tag team champion, until Brecher & Grimm uncrowned the Pride of Britain. Both guys tried to outfly each other, as Red Dragon proves he’s still in great shape. He dominated for most of the bout, and the Spanish crowd heavily rallied behind fellow Spanish Xavi Machismo. Eventually, Red Dragon was too cocky and spent to much time on the top turnbuckle preparing his Flamebreath, and Machismo went up and finished him with an Avalanche Falcon Arrow, earning the victory in the cheers of his hometown crowd. It was a good 9 minutes match that woke the crowd up. Winner: Xavi Machismo. - Match #3 – Aleksander Knyazev vs. Clubber Kohl Knyazev is roaming in the lower midcard right now, without much to do, after a pretty tough 2021. Still, he’s a good standard in the ring and makes for a decent MMA bad-ass gimmick, but he’s mostly used as a good hand, to help youngsters gain experience and momentum. Aged 27, Clubber Kohl is already wrestling like a rugged veteran, and he surely has what it takes to make it to the top of European wrestling and maybe even further. He’s always been booked strongly and the trust that’s been put in him will likely pay off soon. The German Destroyer worked as vicious as always, as Clubber tried his best to walk through Knyazev’s strikes and strike hard and violent, while also hitting some basic slams. The crowd booed Clubber as he raked Knyazev’s eyes, grabbed his mouth and held the holds for every each extra second when Knyazev grabbed the ropes, and finally, as Knyazev was hoping to land his Cemetery Kick, Clubber dodged, punched, and took Knyazev down with the Hamburg Express, following up with a simple count to three. The crowd booed as Clubber celebrated his triumph. Winner: Clubber Kohl. - Minor Backstage Segment: Irwin Guttman and Konrad Makinen are backstage, getting ready for their match. The crowd instantly boos as soon as Makinen is on the big screen. - Match 4 – Gordon Leve & Juan Mendoza vs. Irwin Gutmann & Konrad Makinen Despite having the unexpected European MOTY with Konrad last year, Gordon is a guy that is very good in-ring, but extremely bland as a character. His look is only decent, he won’t be winning awards for his acting skills, but he does make for a decent simple babyface. Hopefully he’ll break out of the lower midcard this year and at least get his first Nations title run. Mendoza still has a lot of growing to do to develop into the face of the company that Bloxsome thinks he can be, but he’s been booked reasonably strong, as he’s mostly seen as an upper midcarder. Irwin Guttman is looking better than ever, as he’s got even more muscular during the last year, but his charisma is still lacking, sadly. Still, he’s a solid midcarder and a great technician in the ring. But his partner, The Stone Cold Killer, Konrad Makinen, has been moving mountains lately, as he’s developed into one of Europe’s top stars, rivaling Landon Mallory for the title of Europe’s best in ring performer, having very good matches with Kalu Owusu, Don Henderson and Gordon Leve throughout the last years, and also spending 9 months as UEW World champion in the process. And the crowd loves to hate him, because he’s awesome. At the start of the match, Irwin was shouting that he and Konrad will win in less than 5 minutes. Well, that was a lie, as Gordon and Juan were really hard to crack, making this 20 minutes of back and forth action. Irwin and Gordon displayed great technical grappling, Konrad and Mendoza had the crowd eating out of their hands with reversals over reversals, and when Konrad and Gordon finally met, 10 minutes in, it felt as if the two were fighting with the world championship n the line, as the crowd was enthusiastic for everything they did. Konrad made the arena explode when he dropped Mendoza with a lariat as soon as he had gotten the hot tag, but still everyone popped as Konrad finished off Mendoza with his hot new finisher, the Graveyard Trip. 20 minutes of high level action, the kind of stuff you’ll rarely see in Europe, as it was obvious these guys gave it all, despite the fact that Mendoza had to be carried by his more experienced peers. Winners: Irwin Gutmann & Konrad Makinen. - Match #5 – For the UEW Tag Team Championships: © Brecher & Grimm vs. Don Henderson & Cub Balowicz vs. Brecher and Grimm are currently enjoying their 6th UEW reign together, a remarkable UEW record that likely won’t be beat anytime soon, since on the 2nd place, with 3 reigns, stand the Morgans, and Walter is no longer with the company. They started this reign in May, after multiple attempts at ending the reign of Pride of Britain (Don Henderson & Red Dragon). After failing to win back the belts, Red Dragon turned on Don, and Don has since tried to recapture his old titles with different partners, with little success. Tonight, Don tries again, as he teams up with one of Europe’s top badasses, Cub Balowicz. The match was 22 minutes of back and forth decent, but unspectacular action, with the Cub Balowicz hot tag being the biggest spot, as Cub clobbered both Brecher & Grimm and impressed the crowd by suplexing both of them at the same time 3 times in a row. The match ended when Brecher distracted the reff so Grimm could hit a low blow on Don, who he then rolled up for the finish. Don looked frustrated at yet another loss to his rivals, while Cub was fuming and hardly held himself from attacking the referee for his mistake. Winners, and still UEW Tag Team champions: Lars Brecher & Ralph Grimm. - Match #6 – For the UEW World Championship: © Punisher Paul Hughes vs. Joey Beauchamp vs. 43yo Punisher Hughes is on what’s likely one last world title run. Him and 45yo Joey are a classic UEW feud, they’ve been at each other’s throats for ages, and even 2 years ago, PPH’s Nations title run ended when Beauchamp defeated him at UEW Anniversary Spectacular 13. Beauchamp is angry to see Punisher be so successful at his age while he himself hasn’t held the world title since 2016, when the now retired Stig Svensson took it from him. Driven by jealousy, Beauchamp swore he’ll do anything in his power to snatch the belt from Punisher’s waist. Both wrestlers come to the ring bearing their ELPF belts (ELPF being the new European company, in case you forgot/missed that), as Punisher is also the ELPF Nationwide champion, while Beauchamp wears the ELPF World Championship. Hughes and Beauchamp kinda mail it in for 19 minutes, but when you’re talking about such skilled veterans, even when they mail it in, it’s not bad. But PPH’s awesome strikes lack their usual intensity, and Joey Beauchamp seems to be cutting corners, overrelying on rest holds. He works the legs, to limit the striking base of his opponent, but eventually, Hughes catches Beauchamp with an uppercut and works through the pain to hit a perfect Big Crane Kick, and literally falls over Beauchamp, and the refs counts to three. The two men seem to have left a lot of meat on the bone, maybe for a time when they’ll get to close the night. Winner, and still UEW World champion: Punisher Paul Hughes. - Backstage promo: UEW Nations champion, Marcello Ricci is backstage, almost geared up, but with an expensive black shirt on, looking into the camera. MR: “Ah, nothing warms my heart like seeing legends collide and seeing a man like Paul Hughes come out victorious. I’ll always give them their flowers, but tonight, it’s about the future. It’s about the future of UEW, it’s about the future of the UEW Nations championship, which feels more shiny the more I hold it. And it’s about one of my oldest rivals, the man they call Menace. When I finally fell and lost the World championship, I sincerely thought it was a fluke, and I thought I would win my next few matches, get a rematch and be back on the top of the mountain of European wrestling, UEW. And then, my very next match happened. It was against you, Menace. And you beat the heck out of me for 15 straight minutes, pinned me with just a leg on my chest. I went home, that night… I went home and didn’t leave the house for a whole week, licking my wounds, and staring in the mirror, disgruntled. I looked like a mess, and every day felt like I was falling in an endless pit. Then, they sent me a contract: next month, I was to tag with Paul Hughes and fight with you and Thor. The man in the mirror came and slapped the pitiness out of myself, signed that contract and started working, as a champ should. The match came, I told myself that night This man will feel like I felt. But that didn’t happen. We barely got a taste of each other that night, Paul beat you up, you beat me up some more, and then Paul pinned Thor. But that was just more fire under my ass. And now, look where we’re at. I shine bright, I’m the UEW Nations champion, and you keep falling short in your endeavors. As I rise back up, you lose to Kalu, you lose to Paul, you lose to Xavi. While I’m crowned as champion. Turned out That man felt like I felt, even tho I wasn’t the cause of it. Still, now, I don’t even feel anger when preparing to face you, Menace. I’m glad you’re finally winning some matches again, big Brit. I’m glad that you, Menace, are coming back towards the top. Because I’ve been the Giant Killer for quite a while, and my experience tells me that the bigger you are, and the higher you climb… the harder you fall, and the better I look as I lift my hands in victory." - Match #7 – Kalu Owusu vs. Jase Cole vs. 44yo big lad Kalu Owusu is simply the best. Everyone loves him, and for good reason – he knows how to make his opponents look like a million bucks, he knows how to get the crowd to rally behind him without having to talk too much, he’s a safe worker that sticks to the basics but can also add some sprinkle on top when the occasion calls, and he can sell great despite being huge, which comes in handy when he wrestles other giants, which is often the case in UEW. But he’s not facing anything close to a giant here. He’ll be wrestling Jase Cole, one of the few lightweights on the UEW roster, and a fellow veteran of the European wrestling scene. Cole has great momentum, as he hasn’t lost a match since June of last year, when he failed in his attempt to win the UEW nations belt of Marcello Ricci. He’s became one of the best heels in Europe over the last 2 years, selling a bunch of shirts with his new catchphrase, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’”, and breaking every rule in the book while at it. Kalu gets a great reaction from the crowd as he comes to the ring, taking his time to shake fans’ hands and even give his shirt and necklace to some kids in the first row. Jase gets the biggest booes of the night as of now, as he heads straight to the ring, with no pose and no nonsense. The match starts, and Jase offers Kalu a handshake. But Kalu knows who he’s up against, and smashes him with a lariat and starts raining strikes on Jase, who cowardly exits the ring. They play chase for a while, and as expected, Kalu tries to catch him until Jase is fast enough to stop catch him with a Suicide Dive. They go on to have a pretty good match, as Kalu pretty much coasts and kinda overprotects Jase, but Jase overselling and Kalu’s overness keep the crowd engaged, making the match feel better than it really was. It ends when Kalu tries to finish Jase with his side slam off the second rope finish, The Down South Slam, but Jase manages rake Kalu’s eye and reverse it into a hurracanrana off rope. He then climbs back to the top rope and hits his Moonsenton finisher, and makes the 3-count, as the crowd booes. Trying to instigate the crowd, he gets a steel chair from the ringside. He waits for Kalu to get up on his knees, and whips him with the chair over his back, as the crowd erupts in anger. He then finally leaves, with a big smile on his face as he’s going up the ramp and to the backstage area. Two refs try to help Kalu up, but he pushes them away and uses the ropes to get up to his feet by himself. The crowd applauds his effort, but you can see Kalu is still disappointed in the result. He's shaking his head, and he slowly walks to the back without interacting with the crowd, despite them cheering his name. Winner: Jase Cole. - Match #8 – For the UEW Nations Championship: © Marcello Ricci vs. Menace vs. Menace comes out with the same grumpy expression we’re accustomed too, to a decent amount of heat. He’s been losing pretty often lately, but he’s the kind of guy that doesn’t need to win too many to jump right back into the title picture. He’s last 3 UEW matches have been lost title matches, but he always looks strong even in defeat, and him snatching Ricci’s belt to become a 3 time Nations champion is a very believable outcome. Marcello Ricci gets a big pop as he comes out, maybe the biggest of the night. The Milanese “Giant Killer” would love nothing more than to hand out Menace another defeat, as his 2020 loss to Menace pretty much took him out from the World championship picture. But since then, Ricci went on a great streak. He’s close to having 0 losses in 12 months, as his last defeat was in February of last year, and losing all this momentum to Menace would hurt his pride for sure. The match starts, and Marcello is trying to overwhelm Menace with lots of strikes and running attacks, but Menace just won’t go down and eventually counters his opponent and starts throwing him around. The chops that Menace hits on the chest of Ricci makes the whole crowd ache. The match gets going properly, and Menace is mainly throwing and slamming Ricci around in and outside of the ring, while Ricci tries to focus on Menace’s head and use his own momentum against him. After 10 minutes, Menace looks more tired than usual, but they go on for the scheduled 18 minutes. The finish comes when Marcello dodges a big boot and hits Menace with a springboard dropkick, dropping the huge Menace to his knees. Marcello then goes to the other side of the ring and hits his David’s Slingshot DDT (springboard inverted DDT), hooks the leg and has the ref make the 3 count, defending his title in a pretty hard fought match. As soon as the ref raises his hands, Marcello calls for the ringside doc to bring him some ice to put over his chest and back, as Menace’s hands left big red bruises on the champion. Still, Marcello still poses with his belt. It was some decent 18 minutes match, but some might feel this could have been much better. Winner, and still UEW Nations champion: Marcello Ricci. - As the show is about to end, Ali Bloxsome lets us know that next month’s show, UEW Worlds Collide, will be featuring UEW talent vs. BHOTG young lions and a rematch of last year’s match of the year, GORDON LEVE vs. KONRAD MAKINEN ! - Show stats: - Rating: 53. - Viewership: 23 561 (UEW record, as the viewership has been growing constantly since the shows started airing on Wrestleworld Europe). - MOTN: Gordon Leve & Juan Mendoza vs. Irwin Guttman & Konrad Makinen – 65. - Now, let’s look onto what he have set for next week! Regarding the new promotion, ELPF, I’ll only be posting their results (I may give them more attention once they catch up with the promotions, as the ELPF are Insignificant right now, while the other 3 are Small). Christian Lister, Eric Future & Stuart Wilson vs. Ferdinand Arneaux & the Nigerian Hit Squad. 6. Eugen Samper & Steffan Strucker vs. Masters of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Colossal Karl) 7. Matilda Persson vs. Maisie Laurels. Mark Stanford & Dougie Horwood welcome everyone as always and run through the card, insisting on how unreal it will feel to have Byron & Bam Bam as tag team champions, how the Masters of Evil will look to continue their dominance and how great the main event will be. Match #1 – Matilda Persson vs. Maisie Laurels Walking to the ring for only the 7th time in her career is Matilda Persson, a beautiful 24yo Swedish young lady that loves to fly high when looking for the win, but rarely wins, having a grand total of 0 victories since arriving in EWA, in October of 2021. “The Amazing”, former Baby Viper, Maisie Laurels has been undefeated since losing her title rematch to Gypsy Rose, and she obnoxiously brags about her streak as she makes her way to the ring. Maisie does short work of Matilda, letting her get in no offense, overwhelming her with strikes and a few submission holds until she unleashes her Running Flying Elbow signature that does enough to keep her opponent down for the 1-2-3. Matilda almost survived for 2 minutes. Maisie brags a bit more about her dominance, and she’ll likely keep her eyes close on the women’s title match, coming on later. Winner: Maisie Laurels - Interview time: Doug Horwood makes his way to the backstage area, where the Intercontinental champion, Paolo Gandalfini, is waiting to be interviewed. DH: Paolo, you’re in for a hard task tonight. You face two great opponents, in Kruge The Executioner and Jason Dempsey. What do you think of their chances? PG: What do I think of their chances? I think these guys, together, haven’t won as many singles matches in the last year than I won in the last month or two. I think they can pretend it’s a 2 on 1 handicap match, and I’d still beat them. I think Kruge has lost his mind, and he would have been better of tagging with Byron, and I think Dempsey being in this match is a joke. Also, I think I’ll win with ease. DH: But Paolo, you tagged with Byron last week! Don’t you think dismissing his usual partner is unwise? PG: Unwise? I think you asking these brave questions is unwise, Doug. Byron’s a great business man, and he has a smart mind for the business, which is why I respect him. But Kruge “The Executioner”? He hasn’t executed anyone in his life. He’s a big freaky failed Deadpool cosplay. And he says he wants his title back. I’ll probably whip him with MY title for good measure later tonight. Now enough with this crap, I have to decide what champagne I shall pop after I win. Ciao. - Match #2 – Eugen Samper & Steffan Strucker vs. Masters of Evil (Crusher Von Steinberg & Colossal Karl) Eugen’s usual partner, Jason Dempsey, is preparing for the IC title match, so fellow lower carder Steffan Strucker joins Samper today. Worth mentioning that Strucker returned a couple of months ago, after an injury suffered in a 1 on 1 match with Colossal Karl took him out for 13 months. The Masters of Evil stable has changed a bit in recent years, as Kronos The Conqueror had retired and Milo Morningstar was always more of a partner to Crusher than a member of the stable. Landon Mallory joined up with the group to lead them to the top of the card, or rather, to help himself stay at the top of the card, since his mates are merely on the 2nd match of the night. Eva Berlin has also been removed from the group, as she disappeared with Kronos when he retired. Still, Crusher is a great character, and Karl is trying his best to develop into the next big heel. The match goes as expected: each of the heels gets to destroy each of the faces for about a minute, and in the end Strucker gets caught in Crusher’s unforgiving Mind Crusher, taps out instantly, but Crusher only lets go when his opponent stops moving, as Karl admires his partner’s handy work. Winners: Masters of Evil - Match #3 – Christopher Lister, Eric Future & Stuart Wilson vs. Ferdinand Arneaux & The Nigerian Hit Squad (Rahabad & Rashid Lawal) Lister had a pretty good return to EWA in 2021, winning more often than not. Eric Future keeps being a good hand and a reliable partner for the more important Petey Barnes, and Stuart Wilson hasn’t set the world on fire, as some hoped to, still being a lower midcard despite being in the business for 5 years and being an Olympic Medalist. On the other hand, Ferdinand Arneaux has been slowly developing into a reliable midcarder with some good potential, while the NHS is slowly cooling off, despite spending 10 months of last year as tag champions, with Rashid becoming kinda stiff as age catches up with the 43yo twins. This match was 10 minutes of good back and forth fun, with Lister and Future being the backbone and with Wilson and Rashid kinda dragging it down with some miscommunications. The match ended when The NHS were attempting to Double Chokeslam Wilson, but Lister & Future made the save, Lister threw Rahabad out, Future hit his Shooting Star Splash and got the pin. Decent stuff. Winners: Lister, Future & Wilson. - Match #4 – Cage match for the EWA Women’s Championship: © Gypsy Rose vs. Zofia Jankovic vs. It came out of nowhere when, after a 2 months long absence, Rose returned and took the title off Maisie Laurels at EWA Firepower. But it happened, and it led to a great first reign for the 21yo Gypsy Rose, who’s still new to the business. The fans love her style and gimmick, as she’s one of the comedic highlights of the company. On the opposite site of the spectrum, Zofia Jankovic, the badass heel has been one of the staples of the division for the last 10 years and spent the whole year chasing Rose’s belt, losing a whooping 6 title matches in 2021, as Rose tried every trick in the gypsy book to keep her belt, at the fans loved seeing the heel always come short. Now, they face in a steel cage, where Zofia, a legit martial artist, hopes Rose will find no way of escaping her wrath. This was brutal, and a little stiff. Rose had no weapon in the cage, this time, and was checked thoroughly at the beginning, in order to ensure she brings in no weapon, at Zofia's request. Little did the referee know that Zofia had a dirty trick up her own sleeve – after dominating for a good 6 minutes, Zofia was starting to lose control, as Rose reversed a suplex into a pretty stiff DDT. This time, Zofia was finally 1 step ahead of Rose tho – she shoved Rose head first into the referee, took out some brass knuckles she had hidden inside the turnbuckle, punched Rose into oblivion and woke the ref up for the count. The crowd booed hard as the new champion made her way to the locker room. Winner, and new champion: Zofia Jankovic (4th reign) - Interview time: EWA Universal Champion, Landon Mallory, is backstage, giving an interview to Dougie Horwood. Crusher and Colossal Karl wonder around in the background. DH: Mister Mallory, since you’ve.. LM: Gimme the mic and go back to your desk, Doug, I don’t need a human micstand. Petey Barnes, I haven’t been here for long, I probably won’t stay here for as long as you, since I’m an actual elite wrestler that makes these European towns feel like Tokyo and Osaka. We’ve stepped in the same ring for like what, 4 times, Petey? I think that’s accurate, and I know for a fact that THIS is accurate: you have never got your hand raised afterwards, have you, Petey boi? I walk over you… I walk over your little partner, I walk over Byron, I walk over Gandalfini, I WALK THROUGH THE BACKSTAGE LIKE A KING WALKS THROUGH HIS CASTLE. You walk through this backstage like the knight that works the hardest, who dreamed of being noble for his whole life, who probably dreams of having pretty much everything that I bask in. Worthless dreams. And this lil’ knight that is Petey Barnes isn’t thankful that his king put these lands on the map. He isn’t thankful that this champion leads this company to glory. He isn’t thankful that I sold out this arena for our main event. He thinks he can do what the king does. He thinks he’s worthy of having this belt on his shoulder. I put this title on the map, just like I put this company on the map, Petey. Pray to God I stay here for as long as possible, Pete, and pray to God I hold this belt for as long as you’re active. Because when I go, YOU might actually have the chance to hold this belt, and feel the weight I have to bear. And if that happens, then THIS is over: no more thousand seaters filled, Petey. No more record breaking viewerships. No more coverage from the real wrestling media. No one wants to see a company where a guy like you holds the greatest prize, Petey. You’re not what top dogs are made off. You wouldn’t even cut it in the lower European leagues, I have no idea why we’re having this match. Crusher could probably smash you right now, and he already wrestled tonight. Karl will probably be a better wrestler than you’ve ever been. But here’s a tip. We have a ladder match. This means, you can literally get out of this match without taking one punch, one kick, one suplex, you can get out of here with 0 scars, 0 bruises and 0 broken bones. So if you love this company and appreciate these fans, I suggest this: you come out, you fetch me the tallest ladder you can find, you set it up in the middle of the ring, you go and sit down in the corner, and afterwards you applaud and raise my hand as I defend my championship with success once more. Match #5 – EWA Intercontinental Championship: © Paolo Gandalfini vs. Jason Dempsey vs. Kruge The Executioner vs. vs. Gandalfini, while not the star he was a year or 2 ago, is still doing quite fine. He got a short Universal Title reign, where was mostly used to transition the belt from Byron to Mallory, and decided to turn heel, after failing to regain the Universal title, as he got close to former IC champion Petey Barnes, earned his trust and then stabbed him in the back for his belt. He also ditched his former manager, Marianne, to be free to pleasure more of his female fans. Dempsey has been doing fine for himself in the EWA, as he’s a proven solid midcarder, who also occasionally tags with lower midcarder Eugen Samper, as the Globetrotters. He had a couple of tag titles matches, and this is his first shot at a singles title. Also, he’s still being managed by Krystyna. Kruge and the IC title make a great pair, as Kruge has held the belt at some point in each of the last 3 years, and would surely like one more run. Now that he’s teaming with Byron as The Rulers, he’s finally came back to his monster heel roots, and he’ll try to use his momentum to regain the IC title. The match sees the heel champion and babyface J Dempsey forced to team up to face the monster that is Kruge. Gandalfini’s always the first to strike Dempsey as soon as Kruge goes down, until Kruge rises and Demspey refuses to cooperate with Gandalfini, to the crowd’s delight. Krugemania runs wild on Gandalfini, and he then works 1 on 1 with Dempsey until Gandalfini comes back. Minutes pass, the action goes on, and as Kruge double hand chokeslams Dempsey and goes for the pin, Gandalfini uses a kick to the lowzone to break Kruge’s pin, pins Dempsey himself, and successfully defends once again. Winner, and still EWA Intercontinental Champion: Paolo Gandalfini. - Match #6 – Tables elimination match for the EWA Tag Team Championships: © Double Dutch (Frank Van Heen & Henrick Van Bon) vs. The Addams Family (Jimmi & Kalvin Addams) vs. Byron & Bam Bam Johannson. vs. vs. Double Dutch have had a very strong 2021, ending the year with a great 30-3 record and winning the belts from the The Addams in November, in a triple threat that also included the NHS. The crafty veterans are still going strong and are barely showing any sign of slowing down, so expectations are as high as always for their current reign, which happens to be their 4th. The Addams twins are looking to win their titles back and start their 6th reign, which would be a company record, as they are currently tied with the NHS at 5 reigns. Still, they haven’t been booked very strong, feeling more like the team that holds the belts when nothing hot is going on in the division. Now that both twins are 39yo, it’s unlikely the future will be much brighter, but a 6th reign would still be company history. Byron started tagging with Kruge The Executioner just 2 months ago, united by their wish to run the town and despise for Petey Barnes. Now, Byron hoped to have Kruge as a teammate here, but since Kruge secured himself an IC title shot, Byron was offered help from an unexpected direction – Bam Bam Johannson. Abandoned by his brother, Bam Bam has been pretty lost for the last months, losing way more often than usually, and lacking direction. He hopes to finally break his streak of tough luck with this surprising choice. The match starts and it’s a wild brawl, with punches flying everywhere. An interesting spot comes about 8 minutes in, as Kalvin Addams teams with opponent Henrick Van Bon, as they superplex the massive Bam Bam Johannson through a table. The problem is that they basically all went through the table at the same time. The ref’s decision? Get them out, we now have a triple threat elimination tables match! Byron gets stupidly eliminated – as he was basking in his own kool a.. perfection while walking on the apron, a dropkick from Jimmi Addams sees him go through a table. Van Heer and Jimmi are the two men left, and after a lot of scrappy back and forth, Van Heer eventually frankensteiners Jimmi through a table, securing a clean victory for him and Van Bon, after 14 minutes of decent action. Winners, and still EWA Tag Team champions: Double Dutch. - Match #7 – Ladder match for the EWA Universal Championship: © Landon Mallory vs. Petey Barnes vs. Mallory is, as usually, a big mouth that has the skills to back everything up, with a big sprinkle on top: his allegiance with the Masters of Evil. After his latest failed attempt at winning the EWA Universal title, Landon turned to Crusher and his protégé, Colossal Karl, in order to dominate the company and win it’s biggest prize. Crusher interfered to help Landon win the title of Gandalfini, and him and Landon have been regularly tagging ever since. Landon has been regularly defending his belt over the likes of Gandalfini, Byron and Kruge The Executioner. Barnes started last year up in the Intercontinental championship picture, and he eventually won the title from Kruge in the summer, before dropping it to heel turned Gandalfini in November, so he can be elevated to the main event picture. A win over the Minds of Evil ignited Landon’s despise for him, and he’s also been in a triple threat for the belt this December, where Landon pinned the 3rd man, Byron, for the win. Now he’s getting his chance 1 on 1 and is looking to make the best of it. This is Petey’s first ever 1 on 1 Universal title match, as he previously only challenged for the title in 3 or 4 way matches. The crowd applauds and looks hopeful as Petey makes his way to the ring. Mallory comes to the ring by himself, to a strong mix of boos and cheers. As the bell rings, tension is in the air. Landon is telling Petey “You know what’s best for both of us and this company. You see that ladder?” he asks as he points to the tallest ladder in the ringside area. “Fetch me that ladder, little knight, and you’ll do a good deed for your champion AND for your company”. With an obedient look on his face, Petey does as he is told, as he goes for the ladder and sets hit up in the middle in the ring. He then offers himself to pick up the belt for Mallory, but the heelish champ tells him it’s not needed and asks him to sit down in the corner of the ring. Petey follows the orders, and Landon slowly starts making his way up the ladder, taking his time while smiling arrogantly to the audience. But as Landon reaches for the title, Petey jumps to his feet and removes the ladder from underneath Landon, as Landon is now hanging from the hook that keeps the belt afloat. “Pete, you idiot, put the ladder back, or I’ll mess you up, you fool!”. As the crowd pops, Pete hits Landon with the ladder right in the abdomen, but it takes 3 strikes for Landon to finally fall. From that point, it’s on. Petey keeps trying to climb the ladder with every occasion, while Landon kips stopping him just in time and uses painful holds to slowly tire Petey out, focusing especially on his left leg, smashing it with ladders and hitting it into the ring post. Eventually, Landon ends up high on the ladder, with Petey down next to it, too hurt to try to climb. But Petey gathers all he has left to push the ladder, and Landon spectacularly falls through the announcing desk. As Petey tries to climb up with his messed up leg, the Masters of Evil arrive, and double powerbomb him off the ladder just as he was reaching for the top. Eric Future and Chris Lister runs in to try and save their bud, they get Karl out the ring, but Crusher seems to be too much for both of them, and the three eventually brawl off in the crowd, while Colossal Karl tries to help Landon back into the ring. Landon and Petey end up on top of the ladder, but Landon simply punches Petey until he falls of and lifts his belt victoriously, in what will likely be the match of the month in European wrestling. 16 minutes of good drama and action. Winner, and still the EWA Universal champion: Landon Mallory. As the show is reaching it’s end, Mark Stanford informs the fans that next week on EWA Weekly Warfare in Zurich, they’ll be getting Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinberg vs. Petey Barnes and Chris Lister and Paolo Gandalfini defending his title in a cage match against Jason Dempsey! Show stats: - Rating: 56. - Viewership: 49 976 (WrestleWorld Europe record). - Match of the night: Landon Mallory vs. Petey Barnes - 61. 19. I'm just watching & putting the stories together, simulating a few months in advance to make sure the stories I try do write make some sense. I was planning on doing monthly posts on what happened in each European event + extra news, but since EWA started it's weekly show, I'll be doing weekly recaps of their show, and also post on what went on in other companies events as the events happen. Thanks for coming along, hope you'll enjoy it!
20. The Total Extreme Wrestling Magazine Issue #191 The European Wrestling Observer by Marc DeStepp It’s time for the 2021 End of the year Awards! Hello, friends of European wrestling! 2021 is over and we’ve come leaps and bounds from where we used to be! As always, before we jump into the awards, we’ll take a look at the great stories European wrestling has brought out throughout the year! The biggest stories: • WRESTLEWORLD EUROPE! Since October, the recently launched WrestleWorld subscription service opened its European platform! European fans finally have a platform for PPVs and the first and only European wrestling weekly, EWA Weekly Warfare! For only 20 EUR per year, fans can watch every episode of EWA WW on demand, and PPVs for between 10 and 25 EUR! The platform is rumored to already have gained tens of thousands of subscribers, and are looking to break 100k in 2022! • EWA Weekly Warfare! European wrestling finally has its first weekly show! The first edition kicked off with the top stars, Byron and Landon Mallory, fighting through the crowd, and was main evented by the new Masters Of Evil, Landon Mallory & Von Steinberg, defeating Petey Barnes & Paolo Gandalfini in a great TV main event! The company tapes two episodes at once, and they sell out 400-500 attendances arenas all throughout Central Europe! The greatest moment in the show’s short history saw the team of Landon Mallory & Crusher Von Steinberg take on Paolo Gandalfini and Byron in a winning effort, as the German fans booed with great passion! • The VWA strikes back, with a vengeance! GOOD GOD, we suspected Bret Heartbreak leaving EWA being a work, and oh boy, were we wrong! Heartbreak shocked Europe when he debuted, screwing The Bern Boys in the process and then allying with Wild Child, forming Total Eclipse and later winning The Tag Titles off the beloved babyfaces! But this was not it! As VWA Main Event Madness was about to end, following Balowicz title defence against Giordano, Hercules Johannson made his way to the ring to run through the champion! He won the European title in his debut and kept dominating since, and VWA has a whole lot of momentum coming into 2022! EWA also gave the VWA a minor hit, as veteran Christopher Lister came back to them after 4 years in the VWA, but it’s hardly comparable with the signings of Hercules and Bret! • The rise of UEW! UEW Championship Quest was a milestone event for the UEW, as it marked the company growing to the same level as the EWA! Ali Bloxsome was delighted following the event, and has declared he might aim to start filling 1000 seaters in 2022! The TEW Magazine team would like to wish the UEW good luck in doing so! • A new place for the up-and-comers to develop himself: THE ELPF – European League of Professional Fighters! ELPF is an interesting concept, as pro wrestling seems to meet MMA in this upstart promotion started by 20yo young lion Aurelian Bradley. Bradley, son of a Welsh businessman, assures everyone he won’t be overexposing himself anytime soon, as he’s hired the beloved European wrestling color commentator, Dougie Horwood, to book things. The company already has over 20 wrestlers on its books, including some great veterans such as Kalu Owusu, Punisher Paul Hughes – ELPF Nationwide champion, and Joey Beauchamp – holder of the ELPF Championship. Now, let’s go on to the awards themselves! WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: 5. Abominable Snowman The Snowman keeps being an enjoyable big man who can always make babyfaces earn the crowd’s sympathy, and make the crowd enjoy it when he’s beating heels! One of the most recognizable faces in European wrestling, he always gets the desired reactions, he got the honor of winning the Berlin Bash battle royal and put on a good show in the last European title match of the year, where he had a good old fashioned brawl with champion Hercules Johansson. 4. Hercules Johansson After 11 years with the EWA, Hercules Johansson left the company looking strong, after beating Jason Dempsey, and debuted with a bang in the VWA, 8 months later, beating Cub Balowicz for the European championship and defending against the former champion and the mighty Abominable Snowman. There’s a new powerhouse in town, and everyone’s eager to see how Hercules reign will continue in 2022. 3. Landon Mallory In 2021, EWA was Landon Mallory. He's been the company’s highlight, by a landslide. Siding with the Masters of Evil, doing every trick in the book to win and defend the Universal title and having great feuds with Gandalfini and Byron, Mallory turned the Masters of Evil into a force and has been involved in the best matches the EWA has had in a long time, setting a new standard for in ring work in the company. It’s looking like he’s on the verge of a very long reign, and we’re all here for it! 2. Cub Balowicz The most hated heel in Europe, Cub dominated the VWA with authority, kicked Walker van Cleer out of the company, turned on his former partner, Clubber Kohl, and stood strong in UEW, beating both Morgan brothers and having a remarkable story of being unable to beat veteran Jase Cole, one of the two men who he lost to during the year. If his in ring work gets better, which likely will, Cub might make it to the big leagues sooner or later, so we should cherish his presence in European wrestling for as long as we can! 1. Kalu Owusu Kalu Owusu is proof that you don’t need gold around your waist to be one of the biggest stars in wrestling. Wrestling across two promotions, winning no belt, he gets the biggest pops of the show every time he makes his way to the ring, fills the public with emotion and makes everyone who beats him feel look like the next big heel in wrestling. He made Konrand Makinen feel unstoppable, and had one of the best matches of the year when he entered the Steel Cage with Don Henderson to take on Makinen and Clubber Kohl. Owosu’s rivalry with Makinen was by far the highlight of the UEW’s year, and being so willing to put the next generation over probably only adds to his image as a lovable man. Aged 44yo, we can’t help but hope that Kalu will stay great for as long as possible, and if he’d win a world title for one more time, we doubt anyone would complain. MATCH OF THE YEAR: 5. Landon Mallory © vs. Petey Barnes vs. Byron, for the EWA Universal Championship – EWA Nightmare Before Christmas 5 – 64 4. 21. The Total Extreme Wrestling Magazine Issue #179 The European Wrestling Observer by Marc DeStepp The 2020 End of the year Awards are here! Hello, friends of European wrestling. As always, we still have some catching up to do when comparing to our counterparts from other region, but no one can deny the steps forward European wrestling has been making! Before we delve into the awards, join me as I go through the biggest stories of the year! The biggest stories: • EUROPEAN WRESTLING WAR! The year started hot, as Byron said there’s room for only one drama show in European pro wrestling, and said the hardcore-puroresu-spotfest-drama that the VWA presents is merely beatable competition. This probably came about as VWA owner Albert Thorp talked about wanting to take the VWA to a higher level in the following years. Afterall, it’s predictable that we’ve got to this point, as Thorp and Byron have been throwing minor jabs at each other for quite some time. But what wasn’t so predictable was VWA stars Landon Mallory and Michael Gregory making their way to EWA! This war means every important name in the company will feel confident when demanting better treatment, as going to the big rival can be a big hit, as Mallory and Gregory proved. Will the VWA manage to strike back? Will Byron manage to take the VWA’s stars from under Thorp’s nose? We’ll have to wait and see! • Byron vs. Heartbreak – The real life feud of the year! It was a great surprise even for those outside of Europe when, after being booked pretty fine for most of the year, a loss to Colossal Karl booked by Bret Heartbreak’s own father outraged Bret so hard that he decided to quit the EWA! Is this an overly realistic angle? With how wild EWA stories can get, it’s totally plausible! Is Bret really out of his father’s company for good, despite being positioned to take over? Will the family love prevail, or is this conflict here to stay? No one can say for sure, as they’ve both been radio silent on this topic. All we know is that Bret wrestled an indie match this November and is booked to fight Michael Gregory at an Urkainian indie show this month. • Viper leaves on top. Laura “Viper” McKenna has been a staple of European women’s wrestling for 23 years. She fought in UCR from 2002 until it’s demise, and has been with Byron’s EWA ever since. The former “Miss Information” entered 2020 as a former UCR Women’s champion and former 2 time EWA Womens champion. Aged 41yo, she wasn’t a favorite when entering the All Star Bash XIV fatal four way, but she did had an advantage: Maisie Laurels, her protégé, being in the match. But snakes stay snakes, don’t they? Instead of helping Maisie turn into the star she could be, Viper had Maisie dismantle the young up-and-comer Blair Kerrigan and then teamed together to punish champ Karen Bilous. But as Maisie expected to be gifted the pin and the title by her mentor, Viper turned on her, sending her to the ringpost and securing the title for herself (with a handful of tights, for good measure). She made her only defence at EWA All Out Riot, in a triple threat with Maisie, her betrayed student, and Cassie O’Peter, the injured Blair Kerrigan’s partner. Maisie and Cassie’s anger united them against Viper, but as soon as she was out of the equation, the two faces started battling for their own championship dreams. And, as a reliable snake always does, when Maisie was about to finish Cassie off, Viper blasted her with a steel chair to the back of the head, DDT-ed her on the chair and picked up her last victory. As the match ended, she let the crowd know she doesn’t need them, she doesn’t need Maisie, she doesn’t need the belt, and she doesn’t need this business, as she left her title and boots in the middle of the ring and went backstage. Now, let’s go on to the awards themselves! WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: 5. Landon Mallory Landon Mallory had a year full of notable matches, and was the biggest shock switch yet of the EWA vs. VWA war. At one point, Landon was the face of VWA, so it came to no surprise how he spent half of the year chasing belts, challenging Michael Gregory 3 times, defeating Cub Balowicz before Cub’s title win, and most importantly, making a huge splash when he debuted in the EWA, filling in for the injured Hercules Johansson, to join Bam Bam in a win against The Addams Family. A month later, Michael Gregory joined him in another fine tag match, and he ended the year with a good losing effort in a title match against Byron. What’s most intriguing is that he’s been interacting with The Masters of Evil, and might turn to their side to take the Universal Title out of Byron’s mighty clutch. 4. Kalu Owusu UEW’s Kalu Owusu is one of the most beloved babyfaces in all of Europe. He had a great year, ending it with a 11-1 record, with the highlights of his winning streak being his tag matches against the duo of Thor & Konrad Makinen, who he defeated along Don Hendeson, in February, and along Punisher Hughes in October. But the cherry on top was, sadly, his lone loss of the year, as he had the European match of the year when he challenged Konrad Makinen for the UEW World title, at UEW Barcelona Invasion. The two big men managed to keep the crowd hot for the whole 20 minutes of their match, and Owusu made Konrad feel like an unbeatable machine, which goes to show how great of a pair these are in the ring. 3. Cub Balowicz 31yo Cub Balowicz is looking set to be one of Europe’s top stars and top workers for years to come. The workhorse has been a big deal in both VWA and UEW, but had one of his best years in VWA up to date, winning the Berlin Bash battle royal, taking van Cleer to the limit in their first match of the year, and finally winning the European Title again, for the fourth time, in their rematch. He also had the VWA’s match of the year, when he made his first defense against Landon Mallory, and went undefeated in the second half of the year, riding a 6 match win streak across all promotions at the moment. He's expected to wrestle three times this January, with the most anticipated match being his European Title defense against Night Spyder. 2. Konrad Makinen After two midcard title runs, UEW’s Stone Cold Killer, Konrad Makinen finally had his breakout moment, winning the UEW’s World title and having some great matches in the process. Having almost exclusively good matches (which is a great achievement in European wrestling), Konrad impressed critics and fans alike, winning and defending the title in good matches, and having some slept on beautiful tag matches. 1. Byron The almighty Brit king of European wrestling has been at it again. Is his wrestling out of this world? No, it’s passable, as it’s been for most of his career. But his charisma makes him one of a kind, and he knows this. Not only has he held the EWA Universal title with style, and wisely booked himself in matches with talents that can fill his limitations, he’s also scored some major wins when he signed Mallory and Gregory from VWA, and had his best match of the year when he defended his belt against Landon Mallory. 22. Hello, everyone! Since I'm from Europe, where wrestling companies are hardly as diverse and fun as those from the wonderful C-Verse, I've grown quite fond of the EWA, VWA, UEW and other sprinkles on top that TEW 2020 gives to the old continent, and I've been thinking of doing a dynasty following the adventures of these companies for quite a while. So here we are, today, the man who has brought you unforgettable MMA tales such as the rise of KSW and the timeless Ultimate B-League, is looking to take you all through a thrilling ride into the world of fictional European pro wrestling! I want to start from January 2022, so for 2020 and 2021, I'll be posting some reviews telling the major events of the years.
