Hi, I have a couple of questions I hope you guys can help me with:

    1. What determines if a storyline gains heat? It seems to me that I sometimes have matches/angles rated way higher than the storyline's heat, but the report just says the storyline advanced. for example, I've had Flair deliver a 100 rated promo set to advance a storyline with no heat gain. Conversely, I seem to sometimes have lower rated segments which do gets the "gained heat" line. I suppose I could be wrong, but it'd be nice to have it explained to me.

    2. What exactly are the effects of a hotbed and is there a list over the different ones?

    Thanks in advance!

Storylines gain heat if the segment rating is higher than the current heat and at least two major players are involved. So your Flair example doesn't raise heat because there's only one major person.

Hotbeds boost attendance. No, there is no list.

Thanks again and found it! Thinking about starting over with my game to truly make it a local to global save. To get the lowest reputation as a new company I see that I have to set the game to Rock hard. Are their, besides reputation and money, other aspects o the game impacted with the difficulty setting?

No, only the things stated on screen are affected.

    Hi, everyone!

I want to ask a few small questions about the active promotions with the "Random" option set as an "Open"-ing month and year in the database.

(To specify a bit: You know that all the promotions have an opening date (month and year) and women have a closing date and year, but there are these with "random" as opening and not closed yet)

    Will they be opened automatically?

And: Do they have a preset roster?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

They open automatically at a random date in the future, providing that they can (e.g. any mandatory founder is available). They do not have a preset roster.

    Hello everyone!

Fairly new to TEW2020. Bought the game just a few weeks ago, but really loving the storytelling aspect of the game and the world that it potrays. Made my own little company called 4YW (4 You Wrestling) and the company is based in the Netherlands. After two years my company is small approaching medium (didn't start on the highest difficulty or insignificant). I share a lot of wrestlers with EWA although I managed to secure a few wrestlers on exclusive monthly written contracts to be my stars or future stars after I read this as advice on the forum.

Recently I tried to sign Brett Heartbreak to an exclusive written deal, because hese my tag team champion with Jason Dempsey and he has been putting up some decent matches. I also believed this would be a great storytelling event as his father is the owner of EWA and such this would be a nice betrayal/breakup story. I didn't want to break the bank as I'm not viewing him as a main champion contender just yet. As soon as I made the offer his dad (Byron) made him a counteroffer to stay exclusively on EWA. He eventually chose for EWA.

Because of this event I'm now thinking of declaring war on EWA. But I couldn't find much info about wars except that workers can't work on both companies. Because I share a lot of wrestlers with EWA this would seem to have great effect on both our companies. What happens to the wrestlers who are currently active on both rosters when I declare war on EWA?

And as a side question: How could I end a war in the future?

    Greetings,

    Boerenkool

    Welcome to the forum.

Declaring war wouldn't have an immediate impact on shared workers, but it would when either side tries to sign or extend deals as the worker would have to then choose. A war might also increase the chance of them aggressively raiding your talent. It can also have a knock on effect on your relationship with other companies.

You can try and end wars from the same screen that you declare them.

Thanks. New to the game so appreciate your reply.

So the dirt sheet says its cause he cant do spinal impact, momentum, and declining physical ability. I thought raising the health on everything would help if physical decline was part of it, did I miss something?

You've changed his physical condition; physical decline is the age when they naturally start to lose their ability to perform. They're two different things.

So lets say he was getting an in ring performance of like 45 beforehand. I go in the editor, continually jack up his skills and even his health at this point, but it never works. He stays getting horrible in ring performances in the 40s despite how ridiculously high Ive put all of his stats at this point

He doesn't have morale issues, but he does have cold momentum. Do you think thats likely the cause?

I'd suggest you look at the dirt sheet for reasons. Performance is based on his skills, so if you're cheating and still getting low grades then you've got something either capping or reducing his ability to perform, which will likely be referenced there. Cold momentum will certainly not help.

No matter how much I boost Finn Balor's skills and health within the in-game editor, he makes zero improvement in the ring. Anyone know what the problem could be?

You'd have to define your question a little better - what are you measuring "zero improvement in the ring" by? Overall grades? Individual performance grades? If you've inflated his skills then his individual performance will improve, but that's not going to be hugely visible if you're running a company that centers on popularity, for example. Similarly, he's not going to be performing to his maximum if he's miserable, facing terrible opponents, etc.

Anybody have any idea how I've done this?

I have been trying to update a 2001 MOD starting in January to force WCW to sell up (much the same as they did in real life)

Set them to be property of Time Warner (Broadcaster) and they now close at the end of January due to Time Warner ceasing trading (This has happened on 2 run throughs now).

When I look into the Media Group - Time Warner, there are no other details available to edit other than the name, as ideally I'd like to move their closure on a month or two?

You likely need to look at the closing date of Time Warner the broadcaster, not the media group of that name.

  9. Thank you for everyone's votes and feedback, both here are from those who chose to send it privately. I think the thread has now been open long enough that everyone who wants to have a say will have had time to do so, so we're going to close it down at this point.

The team have gone over all the feedback received and, after some long discussions, we've come to the following decision.

Although the votes show that the majority of people are in favour of either this proposal or a slightly modified version, there have also been some very valid points raised about how this suggestion would be practically applied and the potential for some problematic situations to arise. As we've not been able to come up with a satisfactory way to address those concerns, we've decided that ultimately we're going to err on the side of caution and decline this policy proposal in favour of maintaining the current one (e.g. that you always need permission to use another person's data).

    Haven't played since early 2022.

Is the game still in active development, are there any new features? Has work begun on new TEW? Or is TEW 2020 "it" for the time being in it's current state? At least didn't find a developer diary regarding new TEW or such. Cheers.

No, TEW2020 is no longer in active development. No future games have been announced; if there is any future news, it'll be posted in this forum.

  11. Good evening everyone,

A few people have contacted us recently to ask if we'd consider making a policy with regard to some mods being designated abandonware; that is, if a project appears to be dead and the maker is no longer active and so can't give permission, that other users can be allowed to take the data and work on it.

We've talked it over and put together the following draft for how a new policy would potentially work. You can use the attached poll to give your vote, and in a month or two we'll use the results to decide on how to proceed.

    Proposal

A mod would be designated abandonware if it meets the "3-3" rule:

    - It has been at least 3 years since the creator posted any updates on the project

    - It has been at least 3 months since the creator was contacted by private message about the project's future and they haven't replied

    - An internet search does not show that they're working on it elsewhere

Additionally, if a mod maker has explicitly said that they never want their project to become abandonware then it isn't, even if meets the criteria above.

If a project becomes designated as abandonware then other users can post (in the original thread) to say that they're planning to take over the project. If the creator doesn't reply within 7 days then that person is free to work on it going forward.

Replying to my own message, I have now tested this. If you do a pre-booking 1v1 as once in a lifetime, and then change it to any match, provided the people qualify for once in a lifetime it lets you. But if you pre-book from the beginning as a non 1v1 it wont. Perhaps a bug? Or 'Gaming' the system?

It's exploiting a loophole, so yes, you're gaming the system. As there are no further patches for the game, it isn't something that will be changed.

    Hello all together,

I need some help. I bought TEW 2020 years ago, but I couldn't play it, because my screen was to small. Now I got a bigger Screen, but my order ID doesn't work anymore. The license wizard didn't accept it. What can I do?

The most likely explanation is that you've downloaded the wrong version of the game. If you bought the game years ago then you likely have an Elicense and therefore can only play the Elicense version of TEW. You have probably downloaded the new QLM version of TEW, which you can only play if you've got a newer QLM type of license. See the license FAQ pinned to the top of the technical support forum if you're unsure of which you've got. You can download the Elicense version of TEW from the TEW2020 page using the Elicense Download button.
