1.
USPW Independence Day Slam! 2019:

USPW World Title: Wolf Hawkins (champion) vs. Steve Frehley

The culmination of a program that started the day the self-proclaimed "Alpha Wolf" arrived almost two years ago. Frehley was in the beginning stages of a face turn, and Hawkins solidified it by showing up and immediately declaring himself the top dog. They've met one-on-one twice before, but neither match ended in a decisive finish. This one will.

    Sammy Bach vs. Rich Money

Essentially the American brand's main event. Money (who, BTW, still has a title shot in his back pocket) put together a stable called Money Inc. (he acknowledges the unoriginality of the name) featuring Charlie Thatcher, Philippe LaGrenier, call-ups Avalanche and Seth Whitehead, and the returning Eric "Bull Wrecker" Sandretti. Bach's had simmering issues with Money for years, and after fighting his lackeys for months, he gets his chance at Money again.

Two Out Of Three Falls:Casey Valentine vs. Spencer Spade

Much like Hawkins and Frehley, it didn't take too long for Valentine to consider Spade a threat after he showed up. This matchup got some extra juice when Valentine cost Spade in his first PPV main event at the last show.

Promo Clip: Spade: "You think I want your spot, Casey? 'The guy who's lost every World title match he's ever been in?' You think that's the spot I want?"

USPW National Title: Ekuma (champion) vs. Findlay O'Farraday vs. Kip Keenan vs. Eric Sandretti

After Nelson Callum left for SWF, All-American Perfection was finished. Persephone and Keenan went looking for a new home in Money Inc., and Rich put Keenan up against Sandretti for an audition -- only for Persephone to cost him the match and reveal that she'd made a deal to join Money Inc. without him. (Incidentally, this is exactly how she hooked up with A-AP in the first place. Cheaters gonna cheat.) Keenan, now a face, vowed revenge, and he and Money Inc. got looped into what had been an Ekuma-O'Farraday feud.

USPW Women's Title: Nadia Snow (champion) vs. Alicia Strong vs. Killer Kass

Nadia's only champion again because of Kass's interference in her title match against Alicia (and because of a booking error on my part.) But the long-standing issue between Kass and Alicia may give the champ an advantage-- by turning her into the wild card.

Primus Allen vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith

Primus was looking for a challenge coming off of a win in his first MMA fight. And after getting fed up watching him squash jobbers, the Bulldozer answered the call.

USPW World Tag Team Titles: The Dirty White Boys (champions) vs. Natural Storm

Eddie Howard and D.C. Rayne were beginning to wonder if they had done all they could as a team, which prompted two-time champions DWB to begin proclaiming themselves USPW's best tandem. Understandably, this didn't sit well with Natural Storm, who now seek to prove that they've still got what it takes together.

Match Note: This could end up being secretly great -- DWB have been having their best matches ever during this title run.

3-on-2 Handicap Match: Jumbo Jackson & The Unleashed (Mick Muscles & Bernard Boucher) vs. Marat Khoklov & Krusher Karloff

Last year, Jumbo and Marat faced off one-on-one and Marat beat Jumbo pretty handily. This year, he's reunited with old friend Karloff to "finish the job", but Jumbo got his own backup in the form of Mick Muscles and his new tag team partner. But is Jumbo the "job" Marat's referring to?

    Also:

    Greg Gauge vs. Des Davids

Ross Henry vs. Lassana Makutsi (both peripheral to Spade-Valentine)

Trent Shaffer, Rick Law, James Justice and others in some kind of contender's match

Joss Thompson defends the TV Title against a battle royal winner

    and more!

Chris Flynn's a moderately talented newcomer who wants to get to the next level.

Together, They Fight Crime! Well, no. But they have excellent tag team chemistry, which made me scrap my initial plans for both of them.

I'm closer. Nate Johnson was one half of The Specialists. Thesaurus.com gave me "virtuoso", which led me to The Virtuosos, but is that too heelish? ("Adept" and "Guru" also come up. Also on the back burner is The Scholar And The Gentleman, but I'm not sure who'd be who.)

I have primary and secondary singles titles for both brands, and I am working on putting tag teams together for a single Tag Team title tournament across both brands and just have 1 set of tag team champions. I also have a Next Gen title which is basically going to be a specialty title for wrestlers age 26 and under.

I've been told that anybody that is involved in my Next Gen or Tag Team division, I should set them up to No Brand so that they can work on all the shows without an issue. First question, is this totally necessary? Will I get a penalty for having a brand b worker on a brand a show? I just wonder if it's worth the hassle to keep changing wrestlers back from no brand to a specific brand and vice versa. The other thought would just be to have each brand have a set of tag titles and a specialty title, but honestly, the tag team division in current WWE is so bad, it's the same 2 or 3 teams battling for each brands tag titles. What say you?

Leaving those workers "unbranded" will make things easier for you. And no, there are no penalties. If your tag scene's that bad (and in 1991, it probably is) then stick with the one set of tag titles.

I'm obviously playing off the dog theme, because I like the idea of a new Pitbulls style team.

For the first team, The Way Out, The Marquee, Drive-By, The 20% [A play off American Gangster.]

Thanks. "The Unchained" eventually led me to "The Unleashed". I did give Mick a matching Pitbull gimmick.

  5.
Two new USPW face teams.

Andre Jones (Legitimate Athlete) and Devin Washington (a renamed Devyn Retribution who just debuted with a Wannabe Gangsta gimmick)

Mick Muscles and Bernard Boucher (a Larry Wood regen with a Pitbull gimmick). I'd also be willing to rename these two if you've got a theme, as Mick isn't exactly muscular anymore...

Happy with the main event grade considering Vessey's on terminal decline. Slow Build probably helped with that.

The faces won the Total Mayhem match, 3-2. It was a bad night for The New School, as they lost this match and all three of the titles they held. This will eventually lead to Davis Wayne Newton leading a coup and kicking Vessey out of the group.

I did not pick winners for the Tag Team and International title matches. So I went with the most worldwide coverage I could get -- USA Sports 1. Davis Ditterich and Jasmine Saunders will be Total Wrestling's new announcers, with Ernie Turner joining them for PPVs. Shawn Doakes, who had been the primary Total Wrestling announcer, will move to Saturday Showcase (B-show on Arcadia) full-time and team with Mac Smith (positive chemistry!)

  8.
Total Mayhem XXIII Preview

TCW World Heavyweight Title: Bryan Vessey (Champion) vs. Nicky Champion

Vessey turned on Champion last year, costing him the title and joining The New School of Tradition in the process. He won the vacated title at Where Angels Fear To Tread in April after Human Arsenal left for SWF. But Champion already beat him at The War To Settle The Score...

Promo Clip: Champion: "For the self-proclaimed 'Leader of the New School of Tradition', you sure haven't learned anything."

The Total Mayhem Match: (4 vs. 4 cage match; team with the most pinfalls in 30 minutes wins)

Aaron Andrews, Brent Hill, Nate Johnson and Chris Flynn

vs. Bart Biggins, Davis Wayne Newton, and The Dynamite Express

The New School of Tradition formed as a reaction to Nicky Champion reaching the top of TCW. Deriding him as a "sports entertainer", the New School (led at the time by Arsenal, Vessey, and Eric Tyler) emphasized old-school ring work and recruited both veterans (Biggins, Ota) and newer, younger members (Youngman, the Dynamites) who shared their no-nonsense attitude. While Champion was off filming his movie, Andrews and Hill stepped up to lead an opposing force. Newton joined the New School after Arsenal's departure from the company, correctly noting that they didn't have four people to compete in this match. Johnson and Flynn will become a full-time tag team after this.

Match Notes: This is the first Total Mayhem match in at least five years, maybe six. Hill is the only competitor in this match to have been in one before -- and since he was with the Syndicate back then, I assume he was on the losing side.

TCW All Action Title: Fumihiro Ota (Champion) vs. Yellow Flash

Ota (and Masked Cougar before him) have done a great job being the anchors of the relaunched All-Action division for the past 12 months. It's time for the new blood to take over. I wasn't expecting Flash to be the one who ended up in this spot (see below), but the guy seemingly got better every week.

TCW International Title: Ernest Youngman (Champion) vs. Ricky Storm

I'd originally signed Storm to be the foreign star of the new All-Action division, but unbeknownst to me, he was in the middle of a weight change that made him ineligible. Still, he's good enough that he earned his way here. This is actually a rematch from Where Angels Fear To Tread, where Youngman won by nefarious means.

    Troy Tornado vs. Killer Shark

Shark was that "old face returning" I hinted at earlier. He made his return by attacking Troy on the go-home show a week after Troy noted that he didn't yet have a match for Total Mayhem.

Jay Chord vs. Matt Hocking vs. Lenny Brown

Chord's spent most of the last 12 months away from the title scene, instead feuding with anyone and everyone he's ever talked trash about, with rising star Hocking being the latest. Brown's here because 1) he and Jay shoot don't like each other, and 2) because he's been a co-MVP of Showcase all year and I wanted to reward him with a big match.

Promo Clip: Chord: "Matt Hocking doesn't like me. Lenny Brown doesn't like me. I'm gonna say this slowly so that you two idiots and all the morons in this arena can understand it: I don't need you to like me."

TCW World Tag Team Titles: The Bonecrushers (Champions) vs. Devine Fortune vs. Rich and Famous

Marc Speed and T-Bone Bright continue their feud with Rich and Famous. Former champions Devine Fortune beat Jordan & Idol to get into this match.

Match Note: Devine Fortune successfully defended the tag titles at Total Mayhem XXII in a four-team match.

    Freddy Huggins vs. Frantic Ali

After too many losses in Tag Team title matches, these former running buddies had a violent split as each blamed the other.

    Masked Cougar vs. Rudy Velasquez

Rudy turned heel and cost Cougar his shot at the World title, then said that he did it because he believes Cougar thinks he's too good for the All-Action division. Cougar, meanwhile, has rightly pegged Rudy as being jealous of the success he's had both inside and outside the division (he was a former International champion before I brought back the All-Action Title).

Tornado doesn't have a Total Mayhem match... yet. An old face is returning...

Meanwhile, Aaron Andrews has made the challenge to the New School of Tradition... for the Total Mayhem match. It will likely be Wolf Hawkins, who defended against Bulldozer Brandon Smith in a match that showed Smith isn't quite there yet. But he's close. (Spencer Spade was the last man eliminated from the Rumble match and had the most eliminations. He's there.)

DoI also featured three title changes...

Started a new SWF game with the rules I was given in the other thread. I'm kicking around the idea of introducing a Phoenix V, since II is in terminal decline and III won't be far behind. But my biggest change -- or at least the one I'm most anticipating booking -- is in the women's division:

Mexico has seen nothing like Brooke Tyler.

I just have to justify Champion not winning and Arsenal walking out afterwards.

So while I'm polishing that up, I posted this screenshot from a watcher game in the screenshot thread. That's the GDS-Verse, for those unfamiliar. You can download the 2013 data here and convert it in-game.

About this game: The biggest development is that eight of the 17 starting promotions have closed. Most of them were bought out by the AWA, though a couple of them just went bankrupt.

The second biggest development is that a scene has developed in Japan. There's a five-way regional battle (and a sixth Small promotion) in a country that doesn't start the game with any companies.

IGC is the clear No. 1 company, despite AWA being the ones who dissolved most of the indies. Dominion Wrestling Alliance still runs Canada, though some new small indies have popped up there. In 2010, the North American Wrestling Alliance formed, with the unlikely trio of the now-defunct hardcore promotion Southside, west coast indy Pro Wrestling Unleashed, and the ultra-family-friendly Wisney Wrestling. Britain's had a few small companies come and go. Nothing's really stuck there.

Every time I play this mod, Tommy McVain leaves Dominion for one of the American big two. He wins a secondary title in short order, and is usually a main event champion within two to three years. Also, the IGC Platinum championship, a vanity title created by a guy named Benjamin Shieldheart, always ends up as a main-event level title after Shieldheart loses it.

Ezuma suffered a career-ending spinal injury in 2010. He then became the best color commentator in the world, being honored with the Color Commentator of the Year award eight times.

(It happened before I took over.)

  13.
Welp, my main TCW storyline is going to have to end differently.

Oh, Nicky Champion's still winning the TCW World title back at Total Mayhem XXIII. But now he's going to have to beat Bryan Vessey instead of Human Arsenal.

I couldn't justify giving a 43-year-old Arsenal in noticeable time decline a three-year deal. And certainly not at almost $30K annually. So he'll be off to SWF sometime in May, and the main event of Where Angels Fear To Tread is now a four-way with him, Masked Cougar, Bryan Vessey and Troy Tornado.

The big winner here is Davis Wayne Newton, who will be taking Vessey's spot with the New School Of Tradition in the Total Mayhem match -- which I didn't know was a thing until it was mentioned in the TCW thread. The AI never. Uses. It. EVER. I think I'll make that a story point: "A match so unpredictable we're actually afraid to run it!"

Now I gotta do some math and figure out if I can do Champion/Arsenal one-on-one on TV before he leaves. I think I can...

Turns out I CAN'T. And I have to scrap the WAFTT main event, too. NOW what?

  14.
So I'm running a watcher game with the old GDS-Verse after I converted the 2013 data to 2016. 17. 2018's in the books. Remember this?

    NzVRCZh.jpg

    SHOW OF THE YEAR, Y'ALL.

Tommy Cornell won Wrestler of the Year for only the second time(!!), while PGHW won Company and Tag Team again (this time with Muruyama & Igaki, their second win). Match of the Year was Joey Morgan beating Jack Bruce (who won Veteran Wrestler of the Year) on the first show after Supreme Challenge 38.

Sammy Bach was USPW's top guy on the Power 500 at #83. World champion Wolf Hawkins is at #155. Ross Henry made the biggest jump, going from #496 to #324.

We say goodbye to Enygma today, as he signed with NOTBPW for what is likely his last big contract. A consummate pro, he put over Greg Gauge and Kirk Jameson clean on his way out. NOTBPW seems to be doing their yearly hiring spree early this time around. I expect Lauren Easter to go back, but Findlay O'Farraday (who just won the National title) re-upped with us. We're still waiting on Bulldozer Brandon Smith's decision.

In developmental, Ace Kincaid (TAFKA Skip Beau) won the MAW Championship in October. Aces High recovered from his torn quad, went to LPW to rehab, won the belt, then decided he wasn't re-signing with us. (He hates me because I sent him to rehab for turning up high way too many times.) So the belt was vacated, and Paul Steadyfast won it in December. Nancy Ortiz (a regen) is the Women's champion down there.

    ---

I don't get to talk about my OLLIE game much. But our shows are demonstrably better when Gino Montero (#381) is my champ and on top. Like, 5-7 points better, which is significant at Regional size. Since he regained the Campeonato del Universal in June, we consistently win the regional battles, also helped by our monthly events being on Canal Tres.

    ---

Finally, TCW. It's been an interesting year figuring out which young guys might be the next stars, and the state of the company has led to some surprising things happening. For one, Freddy Huggins auto-pushed to main event level. So I gave him a nice run with the International title (which he'd never had), and now he's slumming just outside the main event storylines, as is Davis Wayne Newton. If my top three heels at the end of 2019 are Chord, DWN and Huggins, that's pretty good.

Finding a new No. 3 babyface remains a challenge. Masked Cougar's over, but I'm not sure he's a top face in an ostensibly national company. Either Chance Fortune or Darryl Devine could do it, but they're both older than I'd ideally like and I still need them in the tag division (where I'm using Marc Speed to help get the young guys there over.) I also have an owner goal that says I can't hire anyone over 35, which I'm fine with, as we're too old as it is. But it makes things more difficult. I'm kicking around some developmental possibilities, either opening my own company or partnering with someone else.

    ---

SWF has reunited both High Concept and The New Wave. They still have the Bumfholes together, too.

WINNOW opened in December. Youth Energy Pro Wrestling closed in December.

The other option is to have the World Heavyweight as the top belt on one brand and the National (currently floating, 85 prestige) be the top belt on the other. My main issue, and I know this is pretty, but National Championship doesn't sound as important as World Championship.

Thoughts?

Events

Last but not least is the question of events. Should I have one a month for each brand? Alternate event months for each brand?

As most know, USPW has two "major" events: Independence Day Slam and Thanksgiving Thunder. I like to run a rumble match at Thanksgiving Thunder. I like to see IDS as their WrestleMania, but I've seen some say it's Thanksgiving Thunder. So... Do I make those two shows the only co-branded ones or do I give one to each brand and have it act as their respective season finales?

For the World title why not have the champ alternate? Everyone's "assigned" to a brand, and when those titles change, the former holders become exclusive to their pre-assigned brand. The National and Television titles are brand-exclusive and both set to Midcard level. My Women's division, like yours, is all on one brand.

I've made both Independence Day Slam and Thanksgiving Thunder combined events. IDS is the "season finale" biggest show. I use TT as Survivor Series, with a 5v5 cross-brand match, a 5v5 women's match, and a couple of 4v4s. New for 2018, I've created the Rumble For Independence at Declaration of Independence (also combined), with the winner getting the title shot at IDS. All other events are brand-exclusive, and I've added four or five for balance.

Hope this helps.
