  1. <p>Yeah, the #August1 thing...total let down.</p><p> </p><p> In case you haven't seen/heard, it's <span style="color:#FFFFFF;">Tito Ortiz, cross promoting his fight with Rampage at Bellator.</span> Just lame.</p><p> </p><p> One of the reasons I only follow TNA ina periphery sense. They do something cool, I get excited...then the mess it up and I'm disappointed.</p>
  2. I'm calling for Jay Briscoe on the video. I realize that this is probably the LEAST likely scenario, considering that the rumors of his leaving ROH are pretty much believed to be BS. Just saying that IF for some reason Jay (or both Briscoes) actually left ROH, TNA would be the best place for them, and this would be a good way to introduce them. Start with one, then later show them to be two, but still in the shadows. A new faction of sorts, unaffiliated with TNA or An8. Part of this is more than just wishful thinking. The person shown, while in the shadows, has similar build to Jay, though obviously it's hard to tell. Again, this is my 1% solution. Not even remotely likely to happen. But it would be cool, and if TNA was smart they'd be looking to indy stars like the Briscoes to help get them some attention. Failed WWE superstars haven't helped them, and cost too much anyway. As most have said, the likely scenario is DOC/Drew Hankinson. But for a minute....let's all imagine what it would be like if it was Jay Briscoe, and they intended to give him a serious push. Jay vs Daniels? Jay vs Samoa Joe? Jay vs Angle...the possibilities are endless. And I'm not even a Briscoe fan. Just think it would be a cool scenario.
  3. <p>Fans are already claiming that Silva threw the fight for whatever incomprehensible reason, ranging from "he was bored with being champion" to "he knows he'll make major money off the rematch."</p><p> </p><p> Thing is, I know Dana White said he'd get the rematch...but in the post match interviews, Silva said he had no desire for a rematch at all.</p>
  4. <p>Silva got knocked out and he deserved it. Obviously wasn't taking the fight seriously, was showboating and fooling around, got caught BEAUTIFULLY.</p><p> </p><p> This is the clip I saw, posted on facebook by Mauro Ranallo</p><p> </p><p> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kPdBUwA2GQg" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kPdBUwA2GQg</a></p>
  5. <p>I know that not everyone is enjoying the PG Era, and not everyone is a huge fan of the comedic aspects of people like Santino and Hornswoggle.</p><p> </p><p> But I had a thought I just had to share.</p><p> </p><p> I would love to see Santino get a manager...and I feel that that manager should be Norman Smiley.</p><p> </p><p> How awesome was Smiley back in the day? I've been watching his old WCW work online lately, and just can't get enough. Don't know what it is...maybe he was just the right character at the right time for me when I was a kid.</p><p> </p><p> But looking at his work, could you imagine what he could do with someone like Santino?</p><p> </p><p> Again, if you don't like the comedy stuff they do these days, that's understandable. I don't typically like it either, but I've come to accept it. So going with that acceptance, why not make it more enjoyable, and bring in someone like Screamin' Norman Smiley?</p><p> </p><p> Maybe it's just me. But come on...can you picture seeing the Big Wiggle just one more time?</p>
  6. Lawal has also supposedly worked a few house shows, though those might have just been rumors.
  7. Fresh from the TNA website, TNA (and Bellator) new signing: http://www.impactwrestling.com/news/item/4741-Quinton-Rampage-Jackson-Joins-Forces-With-Bellator-MMA,-TNA-Wrestling-and-SpikeTV
  8. I don't think he was part of Sports Entertainment Xtreme back in the early days either, but beyond that he does seem to have his fingerprints in just about every stable and group ever. Personally, I'm glad not to see Jarrett at all. Never liked him. And while he may may have done some of his best work in TNA, I could never see him as a legit champion.
  9. I had assumed that was phased out, since van Dam and Kenny King are both over 225lbs.
  10. I was given to understanding that he'd chosen his name as a tribute to that actor, though there is the difference in spelling: Sonjay for the wrestler and Sanjay for the actor. Wonder if he'll change it now. On a further note: What are people's opinions on the new rules for the X-Divion. -X-Division wrestlers now must be under 230lbs (so much for the "no-limits" aspect of the division) -All X-Division matches are now three-man matches. The first one sorta makes sense, but like I said takes away the whole no-limits concept that has been in play since the inception. Also, Samoa Joe is billed at 280lbs, and is considered to have been one of the Division's top stars and best champions. Current champion Kenny King is billed at 230lbs, so will they change his billed weight or will they go the route that Matt Hardy did with the WWE Cruiserweight title when he had to weigh himself before every match? It's also good because it'll (hopefully) keep the Division focused on the younger wrestlers that are typically of a smaller size (and hopefully keep people like Kurt Angle and Abyss as far away from the title as possible.) Second rule...don't know about that. It will give them the opportunity to display more talent at once (in theory, unless they just use the same six guys in various combinations.) It should also give them an opportunity for bigger/more spots, so long as they give them the time to work. I'd hate to see a three-way match that only runs ten minutes, because it feels rushed and doesn't really give everyone a chance to show their work. The other issue with the three-man matches I have is this: is it going to be at least three men at all times, on always exactly three men. Because if this rule precludes four or six man matches in the division, it really is a hindrance in my opinion. I recall some pretty good matches between six workers, especially in years gone by before the Division was downgraded to second-tier.
  11. The bigger girl is Lei'D Tapa. Her uncle is The Barbarian, so she's got a serious pedigree there if you ask me. Wasn't the other girl (Ivelisse?) part of Tough Enough? Both were pretty impressive though.
  12. So, the Aces & Eights VP...gotta be Joseph Park right? It's just that I saw that bit at the end of Impact, and the only person who matches him for size and shape is Park/Abyss. Unless they bring in someone else. But who would they bring in from outside that would be that big of a shock to Angle? Gotta be Park? Kind of a let down if it is.
  13. Interesting that there isn't a nameplate like most of the championships have.
  14. Honestly didn't think I'd like the new strap when the first unfinished pics were released some months ago. I honestly feared it would look like the NXT atrocity, but the finished product...I think it'll grow on me. Even if it's not the best one out there, it's still a lot better than the Spinner Belt. Gotta say though...don't like the bull on the side plate. Makes it seem like a Rock-specific title, which it shouldn't if they're planning on using it long term. Says something about the design though that the highest compliment for it right now is that it's not as ugly as the two worst belts in WWE history.
  15. I have to say I think Invicta might have one of the nicest looking championship belts I've ever seen. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/529_354599757966071_939702762_n.jpg
  16. See this is what makes the situation so bizarre... It's not a "bully" scenario. I'm an adult, 27 years old. The people I had the issue with are in their fifties. Grown people shouldn't act like that.
  17. Can't say as I walked away from it smelling like roses. I got in his face after he got in mine, but I did eventually walk away. And yeah, it was the same time of day both times. Happened on my way home from work, on the shortest route between work and home, so there's no way to avoid the spot or try to be there at a different time of day. It's causing me a bit of stress because I don't want to have this nonsense repeat itself. I'm a bit high-strung after a day's work, and I don't need any more stress right now.
  18. So last week I was walking home from work and had an issue with lady with a dog. She blocked my way on the side walk and called me an idiot when I tried to pass her. Well, today she was out again. This time with her husband. They blocked the way. I went to move around, and she deliberately rammed her shoulder into me. I turned to confront her, and her husband got in my face, talking about how rude I was and how I was the one blocking the way. An argument ensued, language was used. According to them, their dog has more right to walk where I was walking, because dogs do their business in the grass. I told them that was no excuse to block the whole sidewalk the way that they were. I tried to walk away and the husband kept hollering after me. As stressful of a day as I've had (my boss only just informed me that they were closing the store for a week, literally right after I'm supposed to get back from vacation) I was a little bit worked up, so I turned and argued back. This happened twice... Third time I tried to walk away, I ignored him. He came up behind me, grabbed my lunch bag, and ripped it off my shoulder, tearing the strap. Trying to avoid further confrontation, I refused to turn back, deciding that my bag and everything in it (including my mp3) would just have to be a loss. Pissed that I would ignore him, he continued to shout and the threw the bag at me. I picked it up and continued to ignore him, heading home. As I walked away, I heard his wife threatening to call the police on me.
  19. Found this article on Yahoo today, regarding Buddy Roger's original WWWF World Championship Belt. http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/throwback/201208/championship-wrestling-belt-discovered-new-york-attic Another article on it, with a bit more detail. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2012/08/11/20093046.html
  20. In the past 48 hours I have been told that my opinions “wrong” because I hadn’t read a certain book; that my logic was convoluted with no explanation as to what made it so; had my education called into question for no other reason than that my opinions were “wrong”; told that I had obviously been brainwashed by the conservative media (which is interesting, as here in the US most people consider the media to be a tool of the Liberal agenda…); and finally had all of my thoughts, opinions, and beliefs invalidated because of the place I was born. All of this was told to me by a man I had never met (we share a mutual friend on Facebook) who also knows nothing about me other than what he can see on my profile: That I was born in North Dakota, live in California, and that my profile picture is Dr. Strangelove. I didn’t know that defending the beliefs of Ayn Rand could bring out so much anger in a person. Amazing that he didn’t belittle my race and question my sexuality as well.
  21. Working for a company that is going out of business, but trying to act like everything is alright. Every week, business gets slower and slower. My manager has shown a dangerous level of recklessness when it comes to doing anything to close a sale, up to and including giving discounts that eat away what little profit we're making. Things are so bad that we're renting out a third of our space to the company next door. Technically my boss owns the whole building, and we occupy roughly 25% of the space. But we're giving up nearly a third of what we have for the neighbors to use as storage. Which is going to hurt, because the space that we're giving up is part of the showroom that we use to display our product. I'm losing space, which means less product on the floor, which is going to kill a good portion of my customer base. Add to that, the company next door will be frequently in and out of our space now, to get pick up and repack pallets and boxes (they are a distribution warehouse) which will make a lot of noise. The company is very clearly on it's last legs, and my bosses are trying to act like nothing is wrong. I half expect to show up to work one day and have them tell me that I'm out of a job, because they can't afford to pay me anymore (not that they pay me much in the first place.) I just wish they would keep me in the loop of what's going on. If the business is going under, there are things I could do to try and help. Or, failing that, I could start working towards protecting myself against the inevitable fall. I have a life to maintain that depends on me having a steady paycheck, and if they can't promise me that my checks will keep coming, I think I have a right to know that so I can make plans to cover my own backside.
  22. I work six days a week, every week. I am the only person in my entire company who does so. So every once in a while, I wan take an extra day off, to get some much needed rest and to spend some time with my girlfriend (who works an opposite shift from mine, and who I spend about 4 hours a week with, not counting when we're asleep.) Every time I go to my boss and say I am going to take a day off, or a half day, they tell me that I can't because they (both manager and owner) will be gone that day for this appointment or that meeting or whatever. Every time, no matter when I ask, no matter the reason (even when I have doctor's appointments) it's always the same.
  23. Maybe I'm overreacting... So, we had a delivery go out today. About 2 hours ago, I get a call from the customer, who says that the table is damaged, and that he's going to refuse delivery for the table unless we do something about it. I say I need to call my boss, who is not here.... he’s telling me I only have 5-10 minutes, but won't actually let me get of the phone so I can call her. Eventually, I get off the line, and I call the manager and explain it to her. She says to talk to the owner about it. I talk to the owner, and he says that we can exchange the tabletop (we have another one, fresh out of the box as of yesterday) but the customer has to bring back the old one and pick up the new one. Somewhat reasonable, seeing as how he paid his own delivery, which was set up independent of the sale price. Now, under certain circumstances, I can see an argument for us paying for the delivery on a damaged item, if the customer got it, took it out of the box, and it was already damaged. I can even see it if it was somehow damaged in transit. But the guy bought a floor model, and he personally checked it before we pulled it off the floor and noticed no damage. He's also not claiming it was damaged in shipping...he's essentially implying that we intentionally offloaded a damaged table on him, thinking he wouldn't notice. Anyway, I tell him what the owner said, that we'd be willing to give him a brand new table top, but that he'd have to either come get it himself or pay for a second delivery. (For the record, the delivery guy we use is an independent hire, that gets paid by the customer, and isn’t actually part of our company. We make nothing off of delivery.) The customer completely loses his mind; starts shouting and cussing and threatening to sue us if we don't give him free delivery for the new tabletop. The equivalent of maybe $100, and he's threatening to sue. This is a guy that got like a $600 discount on his crap, knew he was getting floor models (even says it right on the receipt) and he personally inspected every inch of everything he was buying, with his wife and his mother. So he tells me he'll sue us and get all his money back and "f**k us up" in court. He first said his mother was a lawyer, then later said that it was his uncle who was, and because of this fact he KNOWS the law and I obviously don't. This went on for like 10 minutes, with me calming repeating what I was authorized to do for him, and with him repeatedly yelling at me that it wasn't good enough, that we goddamned well WOULD give him free delivery and that he was going to sue us. He repeatedly told me "you're not a manager, you don't know a f**king thing" and variations on how stupid I was. Then he brought out the BIG guns: He threatened to sick his wife on me. In his words "She's meaner than I am, AND she's ITALIAN!" I spent most of the time trying not to tell him he was being a retard. At one point, even with the owner listening over my shoulder, I told the guy (after he essentially called me stupid for the fourth time) that obviously he had no idea how the real world worked and that I severely doubted that he could win in court. This has been a crazy day. Insanity doesn't even begin to describe it.

Which of course put me in the wrong, and she began suggesting ways I could find it. At which point I told her that I couldn't help her any further.</p>
