  1. Manhoef got spanked. Again. Hari has lost it man, totally off the rails. Ruts and K-1 let him get away with it every time though, so he doesn't learn.
  2. HD Net in the state and Canada...nowhere officially shows it in the UK anymore, unless Eurosport still have it on Fight Club. Otherwise...it's all out there online. I'm ashamed to say that I pay for a site that streams near HD quality MMA and Kickboxing events...erm...less than legally. Unfortunately, if I don't then I can't do my job as there is no legal way for me to watch Dream/Sengoku etc in the UK. I do pay for my ESPN HD subscription for the UFC though, and have spent the GDP of a small county attending every live MMA event I can make it too over the years, so I don't feel too bad about it :-p
  3. Well the fights are airing live in the US, UK and Oz, so I don't see why not. Best not to spoil the prelims though, in case they are aired during the PPV.
  4. Kurt Warburton: 7-2-1 lightweight who is 1-1-1 in Pro/Amateur bouts against Ross Pearson. Here's a quick interview I did with him when he signed: http://www.mmabay.co.uk/2010/05/07/kurt-warburton-admits-signing-with-the-ufc-hasn%E2%80%99t-really-sunk-in-yet/ Tom Blackledge: 10-6. Will be competing at 205, but his losses are all to HWs. He's Rampage's training partner and was one of his assistant coaches on TUF. Rob Broughton: 14-5-1, number 1 ranked UK HW. Has fought in M-1 challenge and just won an 8-man, one night HW GP in the UK.
  5. Probably July, end of June at the earliest. They haven't even announced it yet, but the three new Wolfslair signings and Dan Hardy have all been contacted about fights, and the expo is that weekend, so it's definitely on.
  6. Word is that win or lose against Chael Sonnen, Anderson Silva will fight Vitor Belfort at UFC 120 in London this October. It will be on Spike TV. Dana said yesterday that he intends to put on a big Spike TV card to make up for the Silva-Sonnen debacle. He didn't explicitly say that it would be Silva-Belfort (he can't really, until they know where they stand after the Sonnen fight), but that is the plan for now. There is talk that even if he beats Sonnen, Silva will vacate the middleweight belt. This is just me speculating, but I could see the Belfort fight being at 205, or a 195lb catchweight if that happens. Belfort hasn't really earned a title shot anyway; were he to beat Silva, he could fight Sonnen, Marquardt or Maia for the strap at 185. Roll on October!
  7. Yeah, just a recap next week. Skip the Jared Hess fight if you are even remotely squeamish
  8. Great to see Hughes in the HOF, well deserved IMO. Dream have just announced (finally) Kawajiri vs Aoki for the strap! About time!!
  9. Come on then boys, money where your mouth is time...who've you got? Rampage - (T)KO, 2nd round Bisping - decision Nogueira - submission, 1st round Sanchez - decision Duffee - (T)KO, 2nd round Kim - (T)KO, 1st round (my wildest pick of the night...just got a feeling!) Escudero - submission, 2nd round Guillard - (T)KO, 1st round Cane - (T)KO, 2nd round Riley, decision Jensen, decision
  10. Lauzon has only fought twice, and got his butt handed to him in the 1st round both times. You thinking of Joe? Fair point on the rest of them though...Spike always asks for Ultimate Fighter guys on the prelims where possible, which makes sense I guess. Doesn't hurt the fighters either, they get a *LOT* more money from sponsors for appearing on Spike TV as opposed to the PPV. Hopefully there will be some quick finishes so we can see the Cane-Diabate fight and the Guillard-Lowe massacre.
  11. They have to have basic medical insurance to cover accidents/injuries to fighters. I know the UFC pay for alot of the aftercare/rehab ect, no idea if Bellator does that too, but if I was pressed I'd say no, due to the cost.
  12. DAMN, that injury in the Hess fight was horrible. I've done the exact same thing to my left knee (I was trying to get out of a kneebar in practise)...it is *NOT* nice.
  13. UK MMA fans, start saving your pocket money today...the UFC Fan Expo is coming to London this October. That, my friends, is a scoop! http://www.mmabay.co.uk/2010/05/27/exclusive-plans-in-place-to-bring-the-ufc-fan-expo-to-the-uk-in-october/ Remember, you heard it here first
  14. For his last few weeks at the Wolfslair, the guy was like a man possessed. Scary stuff indeed. He does, all hype aside, want to do some damage in this fight. Considering what he did to Wanderlei after he knocked him out (not that I approve of it), whoever is reffing the main event better be ready to step in. Warren is awesome, he's like a mini Lesnar in my eyes. Freak of nature athlete who gets a little better every time we see him. Give him a year or two and he'll be right up there.
  15. Tyson Schenker (son of Michael Schenker, of Scorpions fame) is a good friend of mine. He once (in true rock star style) trashed my spare room when he was staying over at my place one night. It was 8am and we'd polished off a fair amount of Jaeger to be fair though
  16. Lol, nah, Macca in San Andreas was played by Sean Ryder, a musical genius and frontman for The Happy Mondays. They were one of the most influential British bands of the last 20 or so years. The idiots in that vid are The Blackout Krew...who suck :-D
  17. Lol! That's almost (but not quite) as good as this... Rapping doesn't start till about 1:15, but the whole thing is worth a watch. I don't know if it makes me happy or sad to be from Manchester. Best bit: Covers goin' sick tonight, I'm like Superman without Kryptonite Phat as hell without cellulite, And I look well sick in a UV light!
  18. Still needs a guy who can rap to pull it off...which R Truth can't.
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="hellshock70" data-cite="hellshock70" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><p> Clothes are a lot different then your personal dancing style and musical preference.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> What does Truth's personal dancing style have to do with anything? Someone in WWE is telling a 38-year-old man who can't rap and who's dance moves come from a different generation: <em>"Wear this, dance and do a little rap"</em> Every. Single. Week. He's a guy playing a character on a TV show, right? The point is, somebody should be saying to this guy:</p><p> </p><p> <em>"You look ridiculous, time to stop dancing and rapping".</em></p><p> </p><p> <em>"But this is how I dance"</em></p><p> </p><p> <em>"So? Here's the script for next week...You're a White Supremacist now, time to shave the old noggin and be appalling." </em></p><p> </p><p> Like Peter said, he's an entertainer, it's his job to adapt and perform a role. The guy has potential, but it's like looking into a time-warp whenever he pops up on TV.</p>

I'm sure Dana would let him back in the UFC for the standard TUF contract guys (10K base and 10K bonus) but he would want like 100K a fight. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> After the harsh comments he's made about Tim recently, I doubt he'd have him fight for free. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26660" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Strikeforce I can see if he gets some solid wins, but who is going to fight that would mean something to get those solid wins? The only fight I could really see him doing is a Barnett one possibly? But if Barnett wins in Australia (that is set right?) we will probably see him go to Strikeforce (if all is clear and well) I guess we could see Timmy vs. Kimbo but once again, who cares?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Barnett and a ton of other 'name' guys are supposedly set to fight for Impact FC. It's a new promotion and it's hosting three events on consecutive weekends, full of 'name' fighters. Either A) They have a ton of $$$ and are willing to risk losing it all or B) the three events wont happen with the advertised cards. Not saying that they can't make money, just that the whole three weeks, three events (with some guys booked to fight on two or three of them) seems like a big undertaking/risk. </p><p> </p><p> Barnett is supposedly holding out for a series of bouts featuring him, Fedor and Overeem that Dream are planning to showcase later this year/NYE. Sylvia was offered a fight with Barnett in Dream on two weeks notice, but he declined it. He said it was only due to the lack of notice, but every manager/fighter knows that you only get a couple of weeks in Japan. Personally, I don't think Timmeh wants anything to do with Barnett, or anyone of that ilk, because a high-profile loss at this stage in his career will likely be the end of him as a serious MMA-ist. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="jesterx7769" data-cite="jesterx7769" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26660" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>didnt want to post this in the same post about Timmy but I am loving Bellator. Getting to see some great young studs and they seem like a down to earth promotion since theyre not all "were gonna take on the UFC and draw big ratings on network tv!", gonna make the drive up to Tampa if they come again next season or w/e they call it.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'm right with you. Some of the opening rounds were weak, but that's to be expected with the level of guys they have. Really looking forward to Pitbull-Warren and Hornbuckle-Askren.</p>
  21. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="justtxyank" data-cite="justtxyank" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26660" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I could definitely see him with Strikeforce.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> From what I've heard, Monte Cox will need to lower Timmeh's asking price for big promotions if he wants any of them to actually sign him. Strikeforce and Bellator have both asked about him since Affliction collapsed, but he is apparently asking for Affliction level money from 'big' MMA promotions. He got something like $850,000 to lose to Fedor in 30-odd seconds...even if he's asking for a fifth of that at this point, he's pushing his luck IMO. </p><p> </p><p> He's supposed to be fighting Wes Simms in Canada soon (although I've heard that the bout is off due to an extreme lack of ticket sales); a bout which Ohio refused to sanction because it wasn't competitive, despite Timmeh losing four of his last six at the time. </p><p> </p><p> There's also a rumour that he'll be fighting Pedro Rizzo (if The Rock doesn't break something while smashing Ken Shamrock into an early grave) in August. That's actually a decent match-up for the big fella.</p>
  22. <p>Awesome video of the day (audio is NSFW due to some colourful language from the nice lady filming): </p><p> </p><p> </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/iprgu2B3eRg?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="39 SECOND MMA SUPERHEAVYWEIGHT FLYING TRIANGLE ( Jared Carle )"></iframe></div></div><p> </p><p> Awesome because: It's not very often that you see a flying triangle in a super heavyweight bout. </p><p> </p><p> Also awesome because: It appears to be WWE's Shamus. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  23. <p>Dana White's response to being asked if he saw Tim Sylvia beat Mariusz Pudzianowski:</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26660" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>“Who cares? 24. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Hyde Hill" data-cite="Hyde Hill" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>On Anderson here is his Sacrifice Promo for those who missed it:<p> </p><p> <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xddqtj_mr-anderson-promo-sacrifice-10_fun" rel="external nofollow">http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xddqtj_mr-anderson-promo-sacrifice-10_fun</a></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I may not know as much, or have seen as much pro wrestling as most people here....but was absolutely one of the best promo's I've ever seen. I remember legitimately lol'ing when I saw it at the time, something I don't think I've done to wrestling since I was about 14. </p><p> </p><p> The best part for me was the fan's reaction...people applauded at the end of the promo. During the match there were tons of 'a-hole' related chants. That's the kind of organic reaction you don't get from stuffing something down peoples throats. When you get gold like that, you have to run with it. </p><p> </p><p> My frame of reference for what's happening with Anderson is the Austin thing from way back when. My memory is sketchy, but I'm sure people will correct me if I'm wrong <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> As I remember it, there was no 'face turn' as such, he basically acted like a heel and people loved it. Even though he eventually became the good guy, if memory serves he was doing heel-ish stuff for quite a while. I hope TNA let Anderson ride with what he's doing...it's already working, so IMO, jumping the gun and visibly turning him in a short space of time would be a bad thing. </p><p> </p><p> It's be like Austin doing the '3:16' promo then coming out slapping fan's hands and cracking jokes the very next week.</p>
  25. I wouldn't go that far personally. YAMMA was a whole new kind of awful. There were a couple of fun fights at Moosin at least. Pretty much what you'd expect from a low-rent MMA show with a bit of cash to throw around. Good lord, all I can think about now is Butterbeen flailing around on the floor in front of Pat Smith at YAMMA. I really don't. The only way I see him getting back in is if get beats Fedor or Overeem...neither of which are fights I see happening any time soon in the first place, let alone Timmeh winning. He's just atrocious to watch...nobody wants to see him fight, much less pay for the privilage. The UFC couldn't even use him in main events when he was defending champion, unless he was fighting Couture or they had Tito vs Ken on the undercard. He also has stupid contractual demands that have stood in the way of him getting fights over the past year. It's funny, I was reading his interview on Sherdog today where he went off on one about how he didn't care if the fans hated him. He said that it's maybe because he's a jerk to people when he's training before a fight; he apparently can be very stand-off-ish with fans when he's in the zone...How wrong he is. I think what Timmeh fails to realise is that fans don't hate him...they just don't care about him. Fans will pay to see someone they don't like get their ass kicked (just ask Tito)...but nobody is putting their hand in their pocket to see Tim. There are a ton of guys the UFC could bring in for their HW division that would cost a tenth of what Timmeh is asking for, and are ten times more enjoyable to watch. Agreed...I think it's be an action replay of the Melendez fight...although the ring may work in Aoki's advantage. Kawajiri is missing a trick by not fighting in a cage if you ask me. Is Minowa crazy enought to fight AO...lol, I wouldn't put it past him!
