1. Why the insistence on quarter hour ratings? Back in 98 at one point certain "average" wrestlers were outperforming (by that metric) a lot of the big names. In fact, Mike Graham even had a quote on Benoit leaving that went along the lines of "Good. He didn't draw a dime." -- based on individual quarter hour ratings for the wrestlers.
2. He doesn't need to win NXT. I see him challenging The Miz after NXT for the title on Smackdown. They'll reserve the "Winner of NXT Season 1" for someone who actually needs the push (maybe that Otunga kid).
3. May very well be true...but I refuse to pay for television. I'm certainly not the demo they're after.
4. Not sure how many networks "stagger" the commercials. A lot of times when flipping at my parent's house, there's absolutely NOTHING on. Same goes with radio stations.
5. I remember there was a HS pitcher in my hometown years ago that fit that description of being a switch pitcher. That was awesome.
6. Doesn't it also come down to the fact that people cheer winners (at least in WWE), so if a heel keeps on winning he'll end up getting cheered (i.e. the bad ass Brock Lesnar).
7. I'll have to re-watch the interview, but that's how I remember Sullivan explaining it (at least the Horsemen era). Did that carry over from the NWA? Just from clips I've seen, with Dusty winning and something happening (the cage match) directly after it. Can't think of other examples, as I'm not well versed on the era. As an aside, here's a running diary Bill Simmons (ESPN.com Page2) had for WM26. Hilarious commentary. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/100330
8. I think in the same interview he also mentioned WCW was the opposite, with the heels dominating and faces fighting to overcome. I think he mentioned the Horsemen (original incarnation) and the nWo as examples. Even with Goldberg, the whole build up was to take on whoever the heel champ was.
9. Or maybe he will actually turn heel? I know a lot of people sided with Vince in the beginning anyway (after the JR interview ages ago). The tide turned when he became Mr. McMahon. As far as the National Anthem/America the Beautiful...don't they alternate it? Or has it always been America the Beautiful?
10. For all different tastes, I guess. I've always enjoyed Jarrett (from his time with Owen in WWE) to WCW, to TNA. I despise Hardy, and don't see his appeal. And over/talented is obviously subjective. Bryan Danielson can't be put in a main event match at a big PPV right now for WWE (no matter how talented he is). Send him to TNA or ROH, andhe could certainly main event.
11. Same could be said about Hardy or any number of other workers. But given where they were at (TNA), he was big enough there. Should he headline WM? No. Should he headline Bound For Glory? Absolutely.
12. I actually enjoyed what I saw of it (only through PPV DVDs). I still remember when he fought Rhyno (not sure if it was when he won the belt or not), Jarrett is set up to be hit by the gore. The crowd is going nuts, and at the last minute, Jarrett busts out the guitar and breaks it over Rhyno's head. Crowd totally deflated, lots of booing. And what does Jarrett do? He starts mocking them! I found that to be hilarious.
13. And I'm sure a lot of people won't watch WWE BECAUSE it's WWE. That's fine too.
14. Not that there's anything wrong with that really. It's up to either company to pay them what they're asking for. Can't fault them for asking.
15. Jets have shown real interest in Tomlinson...I still say he should go to NE.
16. Tomlinson in talks with the Vikings. That'd be interesting. Though I'd prefer if he went to New England.
17. And also the fact that Guerrero and Angle had loads more charisma than Benoit. He would have been fine as an Upper Mid who got the occasional title shot. But a top guy he was not. Maybe in ROH or a smaller outfit.
18. Dreamer & Sabu should NEVER be mentioned as people who Vince should have pushed heavily. They are not top talents. Certainly useful as pieces of the roster, but not someone that should be headlining WWE. And Benoit, well, never really liked him from a superstar standpoint (by that meaning the complete package). He was BORING on the mic, and pretty small. Not top belt material in WWE.
19. Not sure I agree with your assessment Self. I can definitely see where you're coming from though. But I know several people who LOVE any and all Law & Orders. But they'll only watch CSI:Miami (or won't watch CSI). I for example, can take or leave Seinfeld. I watched it when it was on, but I wasn't crazy about it. Curb Your Enthusiasm did absolutely nothing for me except make me want to turn it off. More on point, if ROH was on mainstream TV, not sure I'd watch that, even if I did watch TNA or WWE. Partially because there are other things to do, and partially because I don't feel the production values would be very good.
20. Did anyone object when Snoop Dogg was the guest host and he was "smoking" with Cryme Tyme or whoever? That kind of thing add 0 to the show.
21. Have to remember that even getting half of what WWE was getting, they were still the highest rated show on TNT (at least Nitro was). Kellner made a deal somewhere where HE personally benefitted. The video library alone was worth well over $3-5 million.
22. I'm sure she'll be back after her Apprentice stint. As for Burchill? Never saw his work. In the old days though, the ones getting canned would be the "creative" team. If your job is to find things for these people to do, and you can't do that...how is that their fault.
23.
May 14th, Dixie Carter will be in Monroe, NJ answering fan questions (probably close to 2 hours I'm guessing) in a YouShoot event.

KayfabeCommentaries.com for more details.

Here's the link:

http://www.kayfabecommentaries.com/YS_LIVE_Site_Page.html

24. Didn't know The Lightning Thief was a book. I thought it was just a movie with a ridiculously long title.
25. Well, it was the 1 hour Daniel Bryan showcase. And I'd think that A LOT of the WWE fans would have very limited knowledge of who he was.
