  1. Thing is, they're not that good for people to want to spend money on both companies. Ideally, I'd cut back on the number of PPVs, like what WWE had before (big 4 and some specials). That way they're still paying for the matches, just not as many.
  2. My point is after the first time, they should have just done the new finish (to make it look less dumb). Have Orton yell something at Kofi on his way out in disgust, and be done with it. And yes, it got dealt with backstage, but not before making a spectacle of it out there.
  3. Couldn't they simply have improvised a finish quicker, and dealt with it backstage?
  4. Because he's not as talented as the people he's going up against?
  5. More gear grinders: People who can't spell. May have been mentioned already, but I had a funny story to go along with this. I used to work at this place that had the reader boards (where they put the week's specials). Anyway, one store in the district was advertising "CANED HAM" -- wasn't even the store I worked at, but I had to stop by and tell them to fix it. Worst offender was a mattress store (with mattress in the name) that spelled it MATTRES on the advertisement. I used to call stores that I noticed had spelling mistakes on the advertisements they put up. Sadly, where I live now, there is a lack of those reader boards. No more fun.
  6. What grinds my gears? People. Probably why the whole internet dating experiment was a fiasco.
  7. That reminds me, I go to Starbucks a lot, and I've seen this. Funny as hell, but if I worked there it would grind my gears: Women who come in and order, and while they're waiting, they keep looking at their watch. Then they say "Can you hurry? I'm already late!" Well, if you're already late, maybe you should have NOT stopped at Starbucks. Plan accordingly.
  8. What grinds my gears? People who continue to argue a point when the facts contradict them. And I don't mean opinions they refuse to change (I'm guilty of that sometimes too). But don't tell me UPS delivered something and FedEx delivered the rest of the packages when I have shown you tracking numbers showing FedEx delivered ALL the packages. And then don't say that one was delivered one day and the other the next...when again, the tracking numbers prove EVERYTHING was delivered the same day. Some people...
  9. Well GatorBait, you just answered your question. No, I wouldn't want a QB with a TD/INT ratio of 1:1 or close. I don't need them to be "showmen." I would agree with Stennick. What he describes is what I would look for.
  10. I find it funny that people will defend Eps. 1-3 by saying that they were written before 4-6. I won't deny that he probably had a rough outline for them, but no way were they fleshed out. If they had been, why not release them first (except for the fact that they were awful movies (1-3 that is)).
  11. Remi, correct the 60% metric is what I've always viewed as the stat for elite QBs. I'm not looking at wins (Dilfer had that great season by "wins", by no means more than a decent QB). And I don't have access to the more advanced stats at the moment. To answer the question you posed. No, I wouldn't say he's "better", but he is more efficient. I guess realistically, you'd have to look at QBs in similar systems and compare them. McNabb and Vince Young would be a good comparison down the line (lack of good receivers). I'd prefer a passer with the ability to make a run or two, over a person who can run, but can't hit the wide side of a barn.
  12. My biggest issue with Vince (and players like him), is that, as stated above, they rely too much on the running and not on the passing. Taking away 2008 (where he only started in 1 game), in 2 of his 3 years he's had a completion percentage under 60%. Vick has never had a season where he completed more than 60%. Of the ones mentioned, Young was stellar as a passer; Tarkenton strung together several 60%+ at the end of his career (possibly when he couldn't run as much), Cunningham had a few here and there, Garcia was very efficient (mostly over 60%), and McNabb has also strung together quite a few 60%, and was always around there (save his rookie season). Vince was almost there (58% last year), but he hasn't done enough for me to say "WOW, he's a great QB." If Vince can amass numbers comparable to Cunningham (who the stats show was always meandering around 60%), so be it.
  13. You're right...I don't like him (or the vast majority of scrambling QBs). Just remember, people say "Well Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl." -- Doesn't make him a good QB in my opinion. Maybe atrocious was too strong a word for Vince, but '08 (I think) was weak.
  14. That's because they are a small market team with annoyingly respectful fans.
  15. I always thought the JaMarcus Russell pick was par for the course for Oakland (not a very good one). Vince Young parlayed a championship game into that pick as well. Another atrocious QB.
  16. And I agree with you, but just pointing out how ridiculous it is for one unproven QB to be bashed when another unproven QB is being given the benefit of the doubt. Then again, Derek Anderson did OK with the Browns. What's funny is that most opinions on Tebow won't change. If he does well, the haters will say "It's the system that McDaniels runs" and if he doesn't, the fans will probably say the same things. Fat chance on anyone switching their opinions due to the result. As for today, I'm hearing Taylor Mays to the Eagles in the 2nd round? Thoughts on that happening?
  17. Why are people so high on Brady Quinn then? He was OK to good in college, atrocious in the pros.
  18. The middle class may grow, but at the expense of what? That's certainly open to debate. And perhaps my stance is too harsh, without further focus: Government unions are worse than unions in the private sector, because unlike the private sector, the government can simply tax or confiscate wealth to give to them. At least in the private sector, most unions know that if their demands are too outlandish, the company closes and everyone is out of a job. Not so with the government. As an example of a disastrous government union choice (in Florida): Teachers. Here, you're able to announce your retirement ahead of time (after having worked for 25 or 30 years, can't remember the exact time right now), and for those 5 years you can announce it ahead of time, you begin to collect your pension and you continue to collect your paycheck. If that's not the least bit curious, there's a problem. Then again, government schools teach subservience to the government. That's by design. There's a lot of literature on that too. We'll agree to disagree on unions for sure. To continue the "What grinds my gears" list: People using the word "public" when it should be "government." (i.e. such as with schools)
  19. Unions are also the reasons a lot of states are going bankrupt. I think for the most part they have outlived their usefulness. Especially if you are required to join a union in order to work in a certain industry. They make EVERYTHING more expensive. You could have a booth at a trade show for $X, but if only unions are allowed to perform that work, it's exponentially higher.
  20. So WRs from the Arena League should be awesome, right?
  21. In El Salvador, the kids (because they are probably no older than 16) that carry your groceries out to car from the grocery store only make the tips. But if that's what you have to do to contribute to putting food on the table, I don't even think "pride" comes to mind.
  22. I don't think you're supposed to live on minimum wage. If I am to entertain that thought, it's certainly not set up for you to support a family (even just 1 other person). And that's what grinds my gears on the subject: When people say "I need minimum wage to support my family of 4 (or whatever)." In some places you may be able to do so (probably college towns with cheap housing). But you're supposed to be past that at a certain age (and before you're a senior citizen). Those are the only two groups who I could see accepting those jobs out of necessity (the young and the old). If you're in between and you agree to take a job that pays minimum wage, that's on you. Servers are the exception to the rule, as most I've known make a very decent living doing what they do. A friend of mine who is/was a bartender, calculated he worked 8 months a year (maybe it was 9) when you counted days off and stuff. And he took trips of 3 weeks sometimes to Costa Rica or other countries. Not bad.
  23. Sad to see that the answer for everything is "unionize". EDIT: What grinds my gears? People who expect the government to solve their problems.
  24. That's a pretty big IF. That's like saying "Russo would be a good writer, if he wasn't such a horrible one." **NOTE: I like Russo, and am simply using it as an example.
  25. Heel Heyman was atrocious! So the man who made the promotion what it was is now going against the people he "created" (the Originals)? Same reason why heel Vince bringing in the nWo to kill WWE was beyond dumb as well.
