  1. Wasn't there a limit to Lances before too? I heard that's why they went with Garrison Cade (since Lance Storm was already on the same brand).
  2. Maddux, Pedro, and Glavine were not hard hitters (especially Maddux). But Clemens and Johnson were (Johnson especially with that sick slider). Also on Maddux, he was consistently great. The other five are fairly young, so we'll have to wait and see if they can sustain this. Being out east, the only one I sort of know is Lester. Is Felix that good, or is it that he's on a crappy team? I hear him mentioned in spurts. Greinke had a good year last year. Lincecum I will grant you looks like the real deal. But what do you mean exactly by "scare you"? Lincecum (the best of the second 5) isn't exactly overpowering either.
  3. But also, if he was "great", chances are they would have won more games, and he wouldn't be on his nth coach/OC.
  4. Did you already watch the Mean Street Posse vs The Stooges? Is it still the highest rated match for RAW? The "This is your life" segment was apparently the highest rated segment, but not match. And reading that summary of 1998/1999 -- that's atrocious.
  5. I never saw anything in Campbell at the pro level. Decent college QB.
  6. The "they must know what they're doing is on the part of SpikeTV, not TNA. Spike is the one that determines when or if an encore is shown, not TNA.
  7. Jason Taylor visiting the Jets. Should make for some interesting talk radio in Miami today. There was already some of that when it was announced yesterday. If the Jets make an offer, I'd come back to Miami just to pack my bags. The move to the Jets would be the right thing for his career (what he has left in the NFL and life after the NFL).
  8. If you had to set up a ranking system, starting from scratch, how would you set it up? After that, how would you determine what win is worth more (how would you differentiate between 2 or more fighters with identical records)?
  9. Maybe, but doesn't it lead to someone possibly saying: I'll watch RAW on Monday (or something else) because I know I can catch Impact on Thursday? It's kind of like giving something for free and then being surprised when people don't want to pay for it.
  10. Don't see the point of the encore presentation, but I'm sure they know what they're doing.
  11. I'm excited about one of them, and it isn't Kendrick.
  12. No reason for it to happen really. She's not cheating on him. Nor was she the first time.
  13. Lazor, yes, I guess in that case my definition of showcase was to put them at the forefront of the company. I don't follow it enough now, but I could see them doing what you say, of putting one really good X matchup a night.
  14. Could it be he means from the "WCW/ECW" alliance? Because of that list, about 4 achieved nothing of mention in their time in WCW.
  15. But how special was it when it wasn't drawing viewers when it was being showcased? This is different than it being good/bad. It's an indy promotion on TV. They have to cater to what the mainstream want to see if they want to be mainstream. ECW was edgy and innovative, but it was never mainstream.
  16. Which will still be 5th in the NL East.
  17. Poor Donovan...what did he do in a past life to deserve all this?
  18. Because Heyman was so successful with money (also part of running a promotion).
  19. I'd mark out for a Bob Backlund-like Cross face chicken wing. Would it be more effective if he just let go and walked out after the bell rang (declaring him the winner)? Or if he held it just long enough to not get disqualified?
  20. I'm reading that to mean that some people don't want WWE (ratings remain close to same), but some people are turning away from TNA (ratings down). Maybe the novelty of Hogan wore off.
  21. I meant most "fans" probably considered the luchadores more entertaining that what the Main Event scene of WCW was offering at the time, but the "ratings" didn't support that. I have my doubts as to how accurate the ratings system is, but whatever.
  22. I remember looking at some site a while ago, where they had a record of these things. They didn't have Benoit as a draw (or non-draw). But in that month they had up there (February 98), Bryan Adams had the highest average quarter hour on Nitro. Bagwell was up there. And WWE had a strong showing by Tom Brandi (what the hell was he doing in February 98?). Back on the Benoit thing (and I wish I could see these numbers), those who jumped weren't drawing fans in (according to the quarter hour numbers). Most would say they were much more entertaining than Hogan, Savage, and Nash. Would never know judging by the numbers.
