  1. Hey, so you may want to go through the entire database, a lot of people are missing their pics upon start up with your pic pack.

OK got home and took a look. My memory was wrong in that there should only be one character without a pic in the entire database. I just downloaded the pic pack, looked, and the newest pics are there, so they should all be there. Maybe re-DL the pic pack? If you continue to have the problem let me know, and I'll help you troubleshoot it.

Giving this mod a try as I stopped watching wrestling after WM 2020 and I'm currently catching up on AEW so it seems like the perfect modern mod to use, few notes so far nothing major will post more if I see any.

Thanks! That's rad! So a lot of this is subjective, so where we disagree I totally encourage you to make changes for your personal game, but I'll give you my reasoning, and where its an oversight (turns out there's a lot of workers in the world) I'll totally make changes for the next edition.

Add good or great chemistry for IInspiration/IIconics as a team (didn't see them in the chemistry section although could've missed it)

So, chemistry is supposed to be for when two people perform better than you would expect based on the sum of the parts. I used to watch Jesse McKay in Shimmer and she was great. Totally over, very fun. She was an even worse wrestler back then, but infinitely more enjoyable to watch. Given how lackluster the WWE run was, I can't justify saying that her team with Peyton benefited from any kind of chemistry. But they have known each other a looong time, and I think that shows in how they work together, so that's represented in their experience score.

Haven't seen his current run as AEW Champion but Kenny Omega's Charisma & especially Microphone skills seem low (Bryce Remsburg has essentially the same Mic skills)

I have to admit I've never heard Bryce Remsburg talk, so lowering his mic seems reasonable. You can expect that for the next edition.

As for Omega, I mean, you should check out his AEW work. Truth is his charisma is probably high, given that he'd be the in the bottom half of charismatic people at any party I've gone to in the past ten to fifteen years. Charisma is subjective, of course, and there are people that are charmed by awkward weebs who speak as though reading from a script with no punctuation. But for the most part, Omega got over because he's an explosive athlete, with fantastic conditioning, and puts a tremendous amount of thought into his matches. But his Steve Urkel quotes aren't his strong suit.

Jake Hager's Mic & Charisma seem a little low, they seem like what he would have as Jack Swagger and I think he improved a lot since joining AEW

I have seen exactly one promo from him in all his time in AEW that would justify a ten to fifteen point bump in mic, and that was pretty recent. If he shows me some more improvement, then I would be open to increasing his mic potential. But the mic work he was doing around the time of stadium stampede is reflected in the database.

PAC's Charisma seems low, I think he oozes Charisma especially as a heel

I see where you're coming from on this, but honestly I think pushing 60 is pretty good score. He has the charisma to be top player in Impact or DG, but if he was going back and forth with Moxley he'd be outclassed. At least that's where I see him.

Jon Moxley's Microphone & Charisma seem too high (has more Charisma than Punk?)

Moxley is pretty comparable to Punk in this regard. I think Punk in 2015 would have a 7-8 point bump in charisma, and then this comparison wouldn't bother you as much. But in 2020, Punk (while still an elite charismatic figure) has chilled out a bit, where-as Moxley is in the conversation for best promo guy in the business, and for best facials/body language, so yeah, edging Punk is totally reasonable to me.

Brandi Rhodes' Microphone seems way too high I'm guessing because she was a ring announcer but can you even emulate that in-game? if not I would significantly lower

Nope, not based on her ring announcing experience, its because she's a fantastic public speaker. You can check out her promo work here. Now, as far as charisma goes, that's her big downfall in the promo department, and given the reasoning I gave on PAC above, there's a strong case for bumping her down a notch, and I'll do that for the next edition.

Young Bucks Microphone seem too low comparing them to WWE's roster (Uso's stood out but you can pick out a lot of the roster)

I dunno. I've sat through a lot of Young Bucks promos in the the last two years and I just don't see what you're seeing. Don't get me wrong, this Bucks heel run is fan-****ing-tastic. But its almost all physical stuff that makes it work, their mic skills are pedestrian. They'd be serviceable on the mic in MLW or ROH, but on a national stage they don't quite cut it, and that's what their in-game skill represents.

Asuka's Charisma & Microphone seem way too high

So there's two possibilities here, the first is that we are talking about different Asukas, and the second is that you are thinking that her limited english should hamper her mic score. If it's the second one, then her limited english is represented in the languages section, and I don't believe should be double accounted for. Especially since that would make her promos in Japanese non-awesome which would then fail to reflect reality. I think her Charisma is self apparent, but this is subjective.

Dana Brooke's Microphone seems too high

    Can't argue there. Fixed!

Kairi Sane's Microphone & Charisma seem way too high

While I think a lot of what I said about Asuka can be applied here, I do agree that her mic skill is still a bit high. I've nerfed it for the next edition!

Natalya Neidhart's Microphone seems too high

Natalya seems like a pretty damn good speaker to me. There' no spark to her promos mind you, but that's reflected in her charisma.

Ronda Rousey's Microphone seems way too high

I just rewatched a Ronda promo, cause maybe wrestling promos and MMA promos are more different that I was initially thinking, but she's pretty great. Maybe not as polished as a main event WWE speaker, so I could see knocking her down to the high 70s for 1.4.

Seth Rollins' Charisma & Microphone could do with a small boost

If anything, I'd say the opposite is true, so this is clearly a subjective one as well.

Shinsuke Nakamura's Charisma & Microphone seem too high

This is the one we're farthest apart on. I suspect the Asuka language issue is at play here as well. But Nakamura is widely regarded as the most charismatic performer of his generation, so that's how he's represented in the mod.

The Undertaker's Charisma & Microphone seem way too low

There's a quiet charisma to the Undertaker, so I would stop short of saying it should be lowered, but I definitely wouldn't make him any better in a promo setting.

Give Tag Experience to Jurassic Express II, III, Omega & Page, The OC II & III

Great catches! Done and thank you!

This one is the most personal preference of all but maybe make AJ Lee not out of the business n give her the same hiatus as Punk but still retired and maybe an injury history? I'll do it myself anyway but seems unfair for the people who maybe rush to start the mod and don't have the chance to use her because of it.

I mean, if she returns to the business I will definitely make the change. But as of right now, it looks like she's gone for good.

It sucks, and I might even make the change you suggested for my personal game! But the base mod should reflect reality as best it can, and it appears she's left us.

  2. Hey, so you may want to go through the entire database, a lot of people are missing their pics upon start up with your pic pack.

Shoot, must have been an issue with the newest upload. There should definitely not be more than 10, obscure, necessary (owner/ref/etc), characters without a pic. I'll be home in a couple hours and re-upload it.

I'll give a line by line response to Mavenous at that time as well ;)

  3. <p>Thinking about some of the people that have left WWE recently, and how best to simulate their attitudes in TEW.</p><p> </p><p>

The tools we currently have (s I understand them) are workers can prefer larger companies (Fame Hungry), more money, or their happiness.</p><p> </p><p>

It seems that it might be easy to make an attribute that makes workers prefer the strongest promised push. As there are people, like Andrade or Cole, who will go to a smaller company where they are promised a bigger role.</p>

  4. Just want to chime in on the Punk discussion. According to Punk himself, he and TK talked for over a year and a half about signing, and this mod falls within that timeframe. Still, I'd keep Punk's pop the same as is, and anyone who wants to edit his pop can.

Also, fantastic job here my friend. Stellar work.

    Good info! And thank you!

One could make the argument that if it wasn't for the pandemic Punk would have debuted earlier, and, if one did, I think they'd be in a pretty strong position. But, of course we'll never know.

Meanwhile, a lot of the things he says in the interview are similar to what I pointed to before:

"I’ve been talking to Tony for probably a year and a half about this. Some girls are easy to get into bed and I am not, I need to be wined and dined. And that’s not an, ‘Oh, I need more money and less dates’ and need ‘that’. It was literally just talking to Tony and getting to know him,”

This would imply that he wasn't just about to sign when March rolled around, to me.

he’s “been in the game for a few minutes” so he’s seen a lot of promoters pop up and make promises before folding

This points to reliability, and to me that implies size, playing a factor.

But yeah! To me this is a question of his hiatus maybe ending sooner, not his pop lowering, but exactly when would be pretty arbitrary.

  5. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TheCed" data-cite="TheCed" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="53467" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Why does Trish Stratus have 84 popularity? </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Trish Stratus having 84 popularity is an oversight, there's going to be a few non-active wrestlers who didn't get looked at as closely, and inherited whatever they were set at in Landxx's mod. I can def take a look at that for 1.3.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TheCed" data-cite="TheCed" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="53467" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Why is CM Punk in the 90s popularity? This way it'd prevent AEW from hiring him because of their size.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> CM Punk's popularity is a reflection of reality. Based on the reception at Rampage, and the swiftness of the sellout, I feel pretty strongly about this. </p><p> </p><p> It is true that AEW cannot sign Punk at the start of the game, but that too is a reflection of reality. Punk was TK's "<a href="https://www.sescoops.com/2019/04/cm-punk-was-reportedly-tony-khans-first-pick-for-new-promotion/" rel="external nofollow">first pick</a>" to build the promotion around and it didn't happen because Punk said no. He said no for very TEW reasons. <a href="https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2021/08/cm-punk-on-his-original-talks-with-tony-khan-and-why-he-didnt-sign-with-aew/" rel="external nofollow">He couldn't trust that AEW would actually turn into something that would pay him</a>, or another way of putting it would be, he didn't think they were big time.</p><p> </p><p> Punk shouldn't sign with AEW at the start of the game because, in reality, Punk was unconvinced of AEW's chances in March of 2020. The good news is that Punk starts the game on hiatus for 70 weeks. This means, if you're AEW, you have 70 weeks to hit Big in time to sign Punk when her re-enters the world of wrestling. I view that as both in line with how things played out, and an in-built goal for AEW players.</p><p> </p><p> But in looking at this, I realize that my first attempt to simulate the Punk situation had simmering tension between him and TK, representing their failed negotiations. With the benefit of hindsight, it doesn't seem there was really all that much tension there, just business differences, and the tension seems like an unnecessary barrier to hiring Punk, so it will be removed for 1.3.</p><p> </p><p> Obvs if any of this doesn't appeal to you for your play style, I encourage you to up AEW's pop or lower Punk's in the editor of your personal game. And if I find that it's way too hard to hit big in a year an a half then I'll make changes. But if I recall from my sims, it should be doable.</p>
  6. 1.2 is released! Check the changelog on the first post for the changes.

This one took a little bit of time because I reworked two skills for active men. I tightened up the high and low end psychology, inspired by a question on the forums, which will make exceptionally high psy more rare, and exceptionally poor psychology more common. You can see the difference in distribution here:

    IrEZBgo.jpg

And I did a total rework on active men's experience. I think I had just missed it entirely. You can see what a mess it was, and what it is now compared to the CV here:

    NlKppKL.jpg

There are also some new pics, and I'll put them in a separate folder so you don't have to dl the whole shebang again if you already have it.

Kenny Omega's Star Quality seems a little low to me, maybe? I'd at least get him into the low seventies. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This is hard, but I also knew it was inevitable that I'd have to talk about it. And, to be clear, Kenny Omega seems like a really nice guy, so I'm not looking to try and tear him down. But there is a disconnect between what I see, and have seen dating back to 2008, and what people who like Kenny see in him as a performer. And Star Quality is absolutely one of the areas that that disconnect manifests.</p><p> </p><p> Honestly, I feel a bit bad putting this here, in response to your post, which was, in my eyes, a very respectful, and entirely reasonable suggestion that a skill on a worker be increased by three, or four points. This is not something you should feel punished for, and I don't want you to endure a diatribe about a wrestler you like, for doing it.</p><p> </p><p> But someone else is going to eventually bring it up, because people who like Kenny Omega, tend to <em>really</em> like Kenny Omega, so it is absolutely destined that my build of him will bother people. And I feel the best way to deal with that is to be right up front and clear: <strong>If you're a fan of Kenny Omega, you may want to take a look at him in the editor, and make some changes for your personal game.</strong> Because his skills are intentional, they represent how I see the worker, and he might be the worker who was agonized over and tinkered with more than anyone else in the game. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Woodsmeister" data-cite="Woodsmeister" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="53467" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Hey, i just want to pick your brains on Psychology, wrestlers like Andrade have 85+ psychology is this because they have had a 5 star match or higher?<p> </p><p> Doesnt tend to happen in the Cornellverse (North America) Not nit picking I just want to understand your thinking <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Plus i like your indepth analysis of stuff so was hoping for something to read later <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Well that last question was a little awkward (and I hope I wasn't too casually insulting). Thank you for bringing me back into my comfort zone!</p><p> </p><p> Ok, here's the distribution of Psychology amongst active, male wrestlers in the CV, and in Before The Fall:</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="i4qejXt.jpeg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/i4qejXt.jpeg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> In raw numbers, there are 36 workers at the start of the default database with 85 Psychology or better, which works out to around 2.5% of the worker pool. Whereas there are 93 workers who have 85+ psychology, or about 4.0% of BTF's active males. So, you're absolutely right that top end psychology is more readily available in the mod than in the default database. </p><p> </p><p> I think that ~1.5% increase is defensible, but maybe a little outside of what is ideal. Upon review, I will do an upper end psychology nerf to targeted workers. Bring that down to 3.0-3.25% of the database, and get more guys down to the 60s from the 70s. <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> As for the CV in regards to North America, of the 36 workers who start with 85+ Psy in the CVerse, 20 are from North America (7 from Mexico, 11 from America, and 2 from Canada). So, that's the majority of the top end at game start.</p><p> </p><p> I will defend Andrade being in that 3%, even after I start handing out nerfs, as he's been main eventing (successfully) for over ten years. His hair match with Atlantis is beloved, his NXT main events were very, very good. I actually think of him as a guy who is better with match time and a spotlight than he is in a 10 minute spot fest.</p><p> </p><p> But yeah, glad you brought my attention to the psychology distribution. There's definitely room for improvement there, and that will be reflected in 1.2!</p>
  8. Don't have one.

Titles are for stars, if it can't feasibly main event a major show, if a star would seem lessened by hold it, I don't have a use for it.

I actually think this approach is very beneficial to making stars, which in turn allows you to have more titles (but I'd never have more than five). Since the best way to make a talent seem like a star is to keep them as far away as possible from other stars, so that when the time is right, and the two stars do meet, it feels like a big deal. You've been waiting for it, you can't imagine either losing. Having those two stars in different divisions, which are treated as equal, is a perfect way to accomplish that.

  9. Just checked. Schedule seems okay to me. By the way, the BOSJ events and many more in New Japan have no pictures set. Stables pictures are wrong too and don't match the others' styles. For example, Chaos, Suzuki-gun and Taguchi Japan have a specific picture style when the generic logos are in the pack.

Good catch! I'm half way through adding the pics. This will be solved in 1.1!

I've had a brief cursory glance through the data just in 30mins I had spare. One thing I did notice is that a largely inactive for the past 15 years Rick Steiner has more popularity than a reasonably active Scott Steiner by about 5 points with both in the 40's.

That is definitely an error, I'll fix that up!

Ooook, you caught my atention my good sir!

Fantastic news! Don't hesitate to let me know if you find anything amiss!

  10. Fair enough. I'll start a save with New Japan when it's out. How's their schedule by the way? You made it of tours and events?

It's currently set to events, with 139 active events. This is mostly inherited from Landxx's mod, as I don't consider Japanese event schedules to me my area of expertise. As such, if you (or anyone else here) has thoughts about the ideal way to simulate NJPW's schedule lemme know, I'm done what I had planned for the next version, but if I see a change suggestion that seems feasible, I'd be happy to update that too.

  11. Wow, man. I wasn't exactly disagreeing with you, just questioning your choices. But man, you ended up convincing me. It all makes sense. I really appreciate your commitment to the mod and your for taking time to explain these things to me.

Oh god! Sorry if I over responded :o I guess I've kinda been in my own head about the mod for a year plus, so I may have over explained. I'm glad it made sense!

And with that you have convinced me even more to download in the morning

I'm happy my ADHD hyper-focus has been a boon to someone! Please let me know if you find any errors!

I disagree with the Mox/Omega match (the barb wire one not the sparkler one) not being well received. Everyone I personally talked to loved it, and the only ones I've seen not like it are the ones that would not like AEW until they changed their initials to WWE.

Yeah, I can totally see it going over differently in different bubbles. But I assure you, I've been praying to the wrestling gods for WWE's fall since about 2005, and have never missed an episode of Dynamite. So, while I may have my biases like everybody else, it definitely isn't the pro-WWE one!

Not to disagree on the product, I think they've morphed a few times over the past years but I think it was always 3 ring circus/No-Style Style. Orange Cassidy has always been over, and he's not a workrate guy. Jericho is somehow still over, despite being unable to work well for 5-10 years and actually being boring on the mic. Jungle Boy is a hit, he's not a workrate dude. Same goes for Marko Stunt. None of AEW's women standout compared to the women around the world (or in WWE alone). Cody could never be confused for a workrate guy.

Hey, an argument for the Three Ring might just be that you and I are both AEW fans (at least that's the impression I get), and we have nearly opposite takes on their roster's strengths and weaknesses! Being able to appeal to people who see such different things in talent is a sign that you're giving a wide array of people a hook! But I do agree that Orange is over, and that Jericho has declined dramatically in the past 9 months.

AEW's philosophy has basically been No-Style Style, they just haven't leaned into certain parts of it at times. If you do something well, they bring you in to do that well. They don't have a "match style" like WWE has. Darby Allins matches will feel entirely different to Orange Cassidy matches which will feel different than Archer matches, unlike WWE where you generally know that everything will look kinda the same because they have their WWE style.

Fair take. Although I do think the diversity of style exists in every major wrestling promotion except possibly CMLL and WWE, so it would take more than just a broad range of traditions to convince me on No-Style for any promotion. But I do see where you're coming from on this.

Neither here nor there really, not complaining about the mod at all - just got interested by the take.

Totally, I love talking about wrestling, and there's more to say when people have different vantage points. Hope I'm not coming off as overbearing, as evidenced in an earlier response, I can be guilty of belaboring the point. :/

Testing this over next few days!

Small detail I caught before I started :) think you forgot to include Matt Hard picture. Or just not selected it :D

    EDIT

I think its just on the AEW Gimmick.

Fantastic catch! I'll fix that right now! Thank you!

Yeah. If you can and are willing to provide that much detail to an answer it suggests that there is a strong level of dedication and effort put into the mod and I've wanted to play one since the earlier days of AEW.

Will be giving this one a spin, my friend.

Thank you so much! If you find anything is amiss, please let me know!

Any updates coming soon? Just to know if it's safe to start a long-term save with New Japan.

I'm gonna put one out today fixing the Matt Hardy picture, and maybe adding an indy wrestler or two, but there won't be any major updates for the next while unless someone finds a screw up I need to fix!

  12. So I checked a couple things in the editor. First, how do you pick which product fits a certain company the best?

For example, WWE is using PG Rated Sports Entertainment. Why that product and not Classic Sports Entertainment? Why not use Three Ring Circus for AEW, for example? There's pretty much a little bit of everything for everyone in their real life product. With the current product you picked, you can't do any deathmatches or hardcore matches without being penalized. AEW has done a couple of those in real life.

Also, why World Fusion and not Mainstream Puroresu for New Japan?

Good questions! Obviously this is all subjective, and it's an easy change in the editor if someone wants to disagree, but here's the reasoning behind the products:

WWE is using PG instead of Classic SE because that's the best representation for their product in flavour, and there's strengths, and weaknesses, both ways from a technical standpoint.

WWE is essentially a kids show, with the exception of Roman Reigns' current story lines, which in March of 2020, haven't happened yet. The Fiend, R-Truth, King Corbin, on and on, they all fit the mold of child oriented PG programming, even if the actual audience watching is 50+, by and large.

As for the TEW simulation, the strengths of PG are a 10 minute cap on great matches as opposed to a 15, which accurately simulates the expected run time of matches in WWE, where a typical RAW match runs between 2-4 minutes. Also the sensitivity to scandal is real, as they are a publicly traded company, and (while it is a few months away) they did end up releasing the wrestlers involved in the speaking out scandal, even though it's obvious nobody there would have been bothered about those kinds of accusations 15 years ago.

The arguments for Classic are exclusively from an in game perspective. Those arguments, as I see them, are that Classic requires gimmicks and storylines. Personally I think it's strange that PG doesn't require those things, but it is what it is. Storylines aren't a big loss, as WWE storylines essentially never have any internal, long term logic (until the Roman stuff, which again is in the future, and will be a major departing from WWE's content over the past 20 years, when it happens), and they frequently end up being dropped without conclusion. As such, the argument that storylines don't really matter in WWE, and that the remaining fan base is mostly just interested in seeing good wrestlers have inconsequential, but fun, matches, seems more accurate to me. The gimmicks is clearly a concession, but given the strengths that PG brings to representing the company, not one that moves me to make the change.

Ultimately, if someone wanted to argue that WWE was PG, and transferred to Classic at Summerslam when the Roman stuff happened, I could see where they were coming from. But I, personally, wouldn't RP it that way.

Honestly, if this was a March 2021 mod, I would use Three Ring Circus for AEW. I think you're 100% right in that it better captures the current AEW product, as compared to Modern Throwback. But I am unconvinced that was the case in March of 2020.

From a flavour perspective, there really is only one choice. The brand for AEW at the time was, and to some extent still is, decidedly Modern Throwback. The whole concept was "If you liked WCW, if you liked 80s Territorial wrestling, you need to check out what we can do with those principals now that modern work rate is through the roof".

From an in-game perspective, while AEW would eventually become much more Three Ring Cirucs-y, as of March 2020 they had only done one deathmatch, and they had never done one on television. (The Janela/Omega Lights Out Match was really just a standard no holds barred match) And the Moxley/Omega Lights Out Match was not particularly well received by much of AEW's early fanbase. I remember I had a decent sized crowd over for that show, maybe 15-20 people, and everyone just left part way through the main event. We ended up all meeting up at the bar, and I had to watch it myself later. AEW didn't start leaning heavily into the deathmatch-y stuff until, at the earliest, Kingston's debut with the thumbtacks. At that point, you could claim they made the product change, but I don't think they committed to the really gross stuff until 2021.

I doubt you need me to, but I'll bolster your argument for Three Ring Circus as AEW's current product, in that it allows comedy main eventers, and that's central to modern AEW. Omega has essentially been a mid-card comedy act with the world title. To simulate that properly, you pretty much need to switch away from Modern Throwback. But, in reality, that's exactly what they did: It was a serious promotion where the main event was serious business, right up until Stadium Stampede, which would not have happened without the pandemic, the entire principal behind the mod. And even then it was a slow shift to the Omega run. Now, you could argue they would have done Blood and Guts instead of Stadium Stampede, and that would have been so brutal that you could have argued for the product change anyway, but I'm not totally sold on that in game, or irl, as the 2020 Blood and Guts could easily have been toned down compared to the one we ended up seeing in 2021, after several philosophical changes.

The correct way to simulate AEW is to start at Modern Throwback, and change products to Three Ring Circus at some point over the next year, and suffer any consequences for that, as I believe AEW has done.

And lastly NJPW! The reasoning behind their product is essentially the inverse of the other arguments, as they are clearly on the other end of a product change at the time of the mod. I assume you're suggesting Classic MS Puro, and I think that really captures NJPW up until somewhere between the start of the Bullet Club and AJ's winning the championship. From that point on nWo-style schmoz finishes have become more and more common, to the point where you just can't simulate modern New Japan without the Bullet Club interference on almost every show. In reality they changed their product, suffered the consequences, as many people are turned off by the BC interference, but traded those viewers in for a western audience and a hope at expansion. Thus, World Fusion.

But again, it really won't break the mod if anyone wants to change a product to what they feel suits any company better, so edit away if you disagree!

  13. Yowie wowie, I'm excited to check this out!

Rad, I'm excited for you to check it out, lemme know if you find anything that needs tweaking!

Wow, now that's something. Appreciate the hard work and effort into attempting to translate the real world into the TEW game mechanics the most. I'll take a look at it right now.

Thanks! I didn't figure it would take me over a year to make it :/

Sounds awesome in theory, hope to get some time to check it out.

I hope so too! It sims smooth as silk, only did one 20 year sim, but did dozens of 10 year sims and its very stable.

Winter is dying in the year 2020, and the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, has not been unleashed on the Wuhan region of China. Nor has it spread across seven continents, its death toll surpassing 2,000 en route to eclipsing 30,000 one month later.

It is a better world, in which millions of people will keep their lives, lockdowns will not dictate the days of those who survive them, and a year of youth will not be lost to those who come of age in the era of the plague.

It is true that without the unexpected break in snowballing carbon emissions that came with the pandemic, the global climate catastrophe will be advanced by several years, and that much of the life which was preserved by evading the disease is to be taken in the Trumpian Purges following the American President's re-election, but in March of 2020, hope is in the air.

But hope is, by nature, uncertain. Sometimes, in life, our hopes manifest, and our visions reach reality, and sometimes they fall flat. For the world of professional wrestling, that uncertainty is abundant.

    The Lay of The Land

The WWE is more financially secure than ever. But going on twenty years of declining ratings, and pay per view buy rates, it feels like something is about to give.

Their offspring, NXT, has recently moved to television, but with that transition came a shocking drop in quality, and now they too, long regarded as the critic's choice in American wrestling, find themselves on a precipice.

Their most established, and respected, competitor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, is attempting to expand overseas. The gold standard of in ring quality finds themselves with limited television at home, will they be saved, or will they be albatrossed, by their attempted American invasion?

And lastly, the fledgling All Elite Wrestling, has opened to a hot start. But other promotions have had early success in competing with the WWE, only to find themselves out of business, or inconsequential, after coming for the king.

The future of each promotion is at a crossroads.

Who is it that finds themselves Before The Fall?

This is the formal release of the 2020: Before The Fall modification of Total Extreme Wrestling.

What The **** Even Is This

Glad you asked! Its a mod set at the beginning of March, 2020, right before the major wrestling companies stopped having fans in the buildings and in some cases changed their story lines drastically to accommodate a new reality. Only this time, due to the magic of TEW not being a Global Pandemic Simulator, and so having no other option, the pandemic never happened.

It is built off the Landxx Modern Day Real World Mod, with changes to the Agers, Alter Egos, Angles, Broadcasters, Broadcasting Deals, Chemistry, Companies, Company Relationships, Contracts, End of Year Awards, Excursions, Pics and Free Pics, Graduates, Hall of Immortals, Halls of Fame, Injuries, Match Types, Media Groups, Narrative, Power 500, Scandals, Stables, Starting Absences, Starting Injuries, Starting Morale, Starting Storylines, Tag Teams, Titles, Title Lineages, Venues, Worker Names, Worker Relationships, plain old Workers, and more. Which is a bad way of saying that I've touched nearly every aspect of this database, and it is not a quick and easy release.

What Was/Is Your Mod Building Philosophy

Wow, what a deep question! You're really smart! My approach for this was to learn from the C-Verse, and then apply my own take on things, more or less within the parameters set by the base game.

What The **** Does That Mean

Good question! What I did was export the C-Verse into Access, transfer it over into Excel and then look at the shape of the data, and try to be informed by that as I distributed skills, popularities, physical condition and all that jazz. Here's an example, this is how the Brawling stat is distributed in the C-Verse for Active Male Wrestlers, sorted by Brawl and by Age:

    YEjWgVZ.jpeg

So some things come out of that analysis that I wouldn't have expected: Barely anyone starts the game with a Brawl over 80, it doesn't diminish more than 10ish points on average as people age, and the vast majority of the distribution is in the middle, with relatively few workers at the ends of the spectrum. This informed my skill distribution shown here:

    GbyZ9FK.jpeg

They're not twins, but they're clearly related.

So This Is Just The C-Verse With Real Wrestler's Names

No... No, look, it's really not. There's no wrestler that would be same as a worker in the C-Verse, except by occasional coincidence, the promotions aren't the same, its really nothing like the default database except that the macro skill distributions (and stuff like that) learned at the C-Verse's knee.

This has some real benefits! The world is very stable. It has functioned admirably through dozens of 8-12 year sims, and the one 20 year sim I did worked great. Older wrestlers tend to move down the P500 except in some rare cases, while younger wrestlers rise up to replace them.

Who Do I Blame For This Catastrophe

Me! With help from Bizzo2k who was returning the favor for the help I gave them with their legendary A New Trust: 1934 mod (which you absolutely should play). Also Landxx for giving me permission to use his mod as a base, and Fleisch/Southside_Hitman as Landxx used their mods in turn. And lastly Joemurphy, NoLegsGaming, and Sabin357 for pic contributions! If anyone finds pics of theirs that made their way into the picture pack that they're not credited for, please let me know so I can credit you! Also, if you'd like to have your pics removed from the pack, just let me know and I'm on it!

Also here's the new pics so you don't have to download a whole new pic pack: <a href="https://www.mediafire.com/file/97c0gsxov7b1m95/New_Faces.7z/file" rel="external nofollow">Pics!</a></p>

  16. Cody literally is a gatekeeper. He's not a main event talent. He booked himself out of the championship picture.

Look who his feuds are with. MJF, who went on to bigger things after him. QT Marshall and that crew which led to Ogogo getting a singles match and Cody and QT going at it.

Before that was Brodie and the dark order. He's been with Red Velvet against Shaq and Jade Cargill.

Cody is the definition of gatekeeper with AEW. He isn't a main event talent. He's not good enough to be your PPV Main Event, but he's a good enough talker and is just good enough in the ring to get people over when he needs to, and pick up the wins he needs to to stay relevant.

I won't get detailed cause we'll get off topic, and I literally got a whole mod to express my opinions on nearly all of wrestling :D but I 100% agree with your assessment of Cody's position, and disagree strongly with your assessment that he lacks the talent to be a main eventer.

I should have the next patch for the mod out tonight!

  17. I have just noticed that a lot of the title reigns are duplicated due to having end dates on the current reign. For example on game Goldberg is in his 3rd reign as Universal champion when it should be his second. This is the same for a lot of titles.

Fantastic catch, this is something I can get to work on immediately!

In my short bit of looking around in AEW I noticed just a few small mistakes

    - Allie should be named "The Bunny"

    - In Cody's contract he is set to be a gatekeeper (this could be intentional but I always thought gatekeeper were for guys who aren't main event talents, I could be wrong)

    - Dasha Gonzales should be a retired wrestler

    - PACs contract is only 10 appearances long

    - QT Marshall is set to be a Wrestler & a Road Agent but in his contract it says he is role is exclusively for In-Ring Work

The only direction the help file gives on gatekeepers is that they will rarely complain if they lose to someone at their level or above. I think that's fair for how Cody has carried himself on the roster. If there is additional instructions, in the tag, for the AI to keep him out of main events, then that's a bonus, since he hasn't main evented a pay per view, or even a 'named' episode of Dynamite since the start date of the mod. I agree with your talent assessment, but AEW seems pretty dedicated to keeping him a half step below main event.

Dasha ends up wrestling in August, as part of the Deadly Draw tournament, so it feels inappropriate to have to talk her out of retirement if someone wanted to recreate that.

Fixed Bunny, PAC, and QT. Honestly the PAC thing is so big, can't thank you enough for that one.

I noticed this too with Nyla Rose's title right, so I made a list of all these odd title discrepancies that I was going to edit out myself and I thought you might want to see it too. I only did the companies that you listed as completed in the editor (AEW, WWE, NXT, NXT UK, IMPACT, NJPW).

Nyla Rose - AEW Women's World

    Brock Lesnar - WWE Championship

Braun Strowman is the IC Champ when it should be Zayn

Murphy & Rollins - RAW Tag Team

    Becky Lynch - RAW Women's

The Miz & Morrison - SD Tag Team

    Andrade - United States

    Goldberd - Universal

    Asuka & Sane - Women's Tag Team

    Jordan Devlin - NXT Cruiserweight

The Broserweights - NXT Tag Team

    Rhea Ripley - NXT Women's

    Ace Austin - X-Division

This is really helpful, thank you!
