  1. No, but it's hard to say how many players actively dislike the current UI. A lot, for sure, but I'd be hesitant to say anywhere close to half. From what I've seen, most people are pretty neutral on it at this point.

Yes, it's impossible to say how many people feel one way or the other about the UI.

Nonetheless, the UI is objectively bad. If more of us aren't banging on about it, it's because:

    A) Enough people have already brought it up. No need to pile on. Adam is aware of the issues and whatever can be done will be done.

    and...

    B) The discourse about this demo, from all sides, has been rather unpleasant. Some of the complainers have been rude and insulting, and some of the demo's defenders have been rude and dismissive. A lot of us just don't want to get into it.

That'd be great, the pic isn't available anymor (photobucket) edit:It's a shame really, there are so many great event pics for EWA, ACPW and FCW as well. If you have those, I'd be more than happy if you could share them (don't know if the original artist is still on the boards)

Damn you, Photobucket!!! *shakes fist at sky*

I still have (and use) Luchador Canadiense's FCW events, although for some reason I edited them to use brown backgrounds (a task that I remember being more complicated than it sounds but that I can't remember why I wanted to do it). I could post them, but it's entering that grey area where I'm not sure if it's cool to post edits of someone's work without permission.

  3. How do you do your fonts? I am trying to dO IPW but I don’t have cool fonts to use...

I get most of mine from a site called dafont. I can't find a link right now but I think it's easy to find.

After that, I just futz with things pretty heavily in photoshop. Different filters, bevels, textures, fills, borders, etc. Sometimes I'll mix different fonts or font sizes, or stretch/morph words or parts of words, all in an effort to hide the fact that I keep using the same 12 fonts over and over again despite having hundreds to choose from. :p

  4. I always felt that low (or ignored) travel costs was the game compensating for the shallow talent pool. I mean, realistically I would never hire a guy from California to work my New York show if he wasn't a draw (and therefore worth the travel costs), but also realistically I wouldn't have to because there'd be thirty to fourty passable workers available in Tri-State.

Since it's not practical for the game to run the thousands of extra characters you'd need to effectively populate every region, I think those of us who like running tiny startup feds will have to get used to the idea of creating 10-15 warm bodies in our home regions via the Quick Fill function.

  5. I share the larger PNG on the forum purely because I think it looks better and shows off the render.

Just wanted to say that I, for one, love that you do that. I convert them myself and get to make my own decisions about how to frame/zoom them. I also tend to slightly edit images (usually for lighting) before commiting them to my in-game folder (although yours rarely need any adjusting).

I realize most users don't have the time or inclination to fuss with that stuff and prefer to get worker pics "ready to run", but I personally love having options.

Also, big PNGs are a great base for doing alt work. :D

  6. I think the new Experience stat kind of stole Basics' job.

If Basics truly serves no other function than to impose penalties on the rare sub-40 rookie, maybe it's time to ditch it. I mean, the kind of worker who's going to get penalties for low basics is probably already getting terrible performance scores due to all their other skills also being crap.

  7. <p>#26 to #28 (the Technical skills) should be combined into one entry for 2020.</p><p> </p><p>

If you're looking to trim some to make room for fresher options, I'd ditch #11 (change wrestling style) as I don't believe it actually means anything in game (except for AI hiring which isn't relevant to user characters).</p><p> </p><p>

I have some other ideas but they're vague and would require heavier redesign.</p>

That would give incentive to not make everything a PPV just for money.</div></blockquote><p> Wasn't that an actual mechanic in TEW2013? Like, if you had PPV but no TV, the PPV buys would be reduced.</p><p> </p><p> I'm not sure how buy-rates are calculated now, but it seems to me that while larger coverage should increase your buy-rate cap/ceiling, it shouldn't increase your actual numbers which need to work off your company pop. You can be on the largest provider in the world but if no one has heard of you, they aren't plopping down money to watch your show.*</p><p> </p><p> It's like selecting a venue. Nothing stops you from running your show in the Monster Dome, but that doesn't mean 75,000 people are just going to show up to see your tiny indy-fed.</p>
  9. <p>If you don't want generated workers in your mod/game (and it's not for me to say whether you should or shouldn't), then why <em>not </em>just delete all the dojos? They serve no other function in the game. In fact, leaving them out could/should save historical modders some work as it's one less thing they need to include.</p><p> </p><p>

Still, go ahead and request a "generated workers: on/off" button in the suggestions thread. Won't hurt me none if you get it. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

  14. I didn't get to play around with TEW2016 too much, so I'm a couple generations behind on my understanding of broadcasting. Anyway, here's my possibly dumb question:

How does one represent YouTube shows (e.g. AEW Dark)? Do you set up "YouTube" as a Free-to-Air Internet broadcaster, or is there some kind of default "internet distribution" system in the game that you can apply to specific shows?*

    * I seem to recall internet distribution was a thing in 2013, but it was part of the merchandising section (I think) and therefore applied to everything the company did.

  15. Because you need workers that people want to see.. Undertaker vs. Goldberg wasn't sold on their skill set, it was sold because it was to super popular guys facing off for the first time, and I don't imagine many folks went into that expecting a Taker vs. Michaels quality match. .

I think he's asking why the ratio is different for the various kinds of skills. Like, why is acting 25/75 while Charisma is 40/60?

I think I'd like to see everything set at 40/60, with the "non-active" skills (menace, sex appeal, overness) getting the ding for going over four minutes.

(actually, what I'd really like to see is everyone rated on just their skill, combine/average them, and then factor in group popularity calculated on 70% of the most over person, 20% on the next most over, and 10% of the average of everyone else. Because people need to see a big star in an angle, but having that, they generally don't mind other people being there as long as they're good at what they're doing. With this method, an Interviewer character could help segments with their Mic skill without needing to be personally over.)

  16. Keep in mind that a lot of the "negative" personality types only become a problem when the worker's morale drops. Try booking some of these touchy guys to take a few losses or rule against them in backstage incidents and then see how things play out.

I "think" the intention with the current system is to let morale evolve based on user actions and decisions other than just hiring happy people and firing cranky people. In prior editions, a negative personality was something you just had to endure (or get rid of). Now it's something you're meant to manage

That doesn't mean the balance might still be off. It's a dynamic change to the system and needs further testing, probably in longer games than we're allowed in the trial.
