1. It's not that I mind seeing the "regulars" (Kieth/Gauge/Hernandez/James/Perez/Parker etc...) in diaries. What I'm weary of is seeing the whole damn list of them get hired in the third post of every diary. What's worse is when half of them get lost in the mix.

For the record, I love diaries with user-created feds. However, "I'm building the stars of the future" sounds a lot like MAW's function in the universe. That doesn't mean you can't do your own take on it, but it does mean that I'd want to see some kind of unique personal twist on the concept.

No matter what promotion or workers you use, the best* diaries are the ones that have some kind of storyline running through them. Something to hold my interest beyond "Here's a show, then I hired some guys, now here's another show, etc...".

    * By "best", I of course mean "What I like" ;)

  2. There's definitely more involved in the negative reaction note than just Basics and Psych. I had a character getting that note in a CV97 NOTBPW game, even after he got his Basics and Psych up past 50, while other workers with lower Psych (one as low as 34) were not getting it. The notes finally stopped when the worker got all three of his technical stats to 50. I figured this was because of either:

    a) He was a Technician and he was getting dinged for being bad at his own style, or

    b) NOTBPW fans are just really picky about technique

I lean towards the former because there were plenty of other workers in the fed with sub-par technical stats (not many 'cause it's NOTBPW, but still plenty) and they weren't getting the negative reaction.

Interestingly, upper-midcarder RK Hayes also got the negative reaction note despite having perfectly servicable in-ring and performance numbers. However he did have a terrible Selling stat and I figured that might be the culprit. This suggests that all the Performance stats might be in play.

Anyway, my point is that it's clearly more complicated than just having Basics and/or Psych up to a certain level.

I'm sure there are tons of celebrities who have more mainstream popularity than the entire wrestling industry but who would receive little reaction if they showed up at a wrestling event.

Lauper and T are a special case in that they did more than cameos but actually participated in running storylines and were "built up" within the WWF. If the mod begins right around Wrestlemania, I'd give them both main event level pop. If the mod begins before or at the beginning of their involvement with the company, I'd give them midcard level pop. In the latter case, they key thing is to give them good charisma and camera stats so they can be built up relatively quickly. After all, they're celebrities for a reason.

*Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, celebrities should be represented by just clicking "hire celebrities" in the event menu. They should only be added as characters if they actually wrestled or become involved in the industry for an extended period of time. Note that Drew Carey getting tossed out of the Royal Rumble doesn't count as "actually wrestling".

  4. I'm with Bigpapa42. An entrance can tell you a lot about who a character is and how they're being received by the crowd. Plus it's common for some kind of worked incident to happen during an entrance. I still wouldn't include them every time (after all, we know without being told that a big face is getting cheered and a big heel is getting booed), but if something out of the routine is happening during an entrance, go ahead and write about it.
  5. Paranoia vs Cal Sanders vs Canadian Crusher

    - Not sure about this one but I like Cal and he's a good worker

    Paradox vs Joffy Laine

    - I'm counting on a "he's got your number" storyline going on

    Paradigm vs Alan Parent

    - Team Puwowesu must be appeased

    Skip Beau vs Davie Renluenn

    - tough call here, but I'm going to say Davie wins via some kind of shenanigans

Stanley Carpenter vs Nomad – Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

    - For once I'm confident the champion will retain :p

??? vs Tex Tagan - #1 Contenders Match

    - I'd have gone for ??? if Tex wasn't an agent (and the booker wasn't slightly afraid of him)

  6. Stanley Carpenter vs Canadian Crusher

    Paradox vs Davie Renluenn

    The Paratroopers vs Southern Hospitality

Cal Sanders vs Skip Beau vs Nomad © vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling – Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

Tough call on the Main Event. I still believe your talent mix dictates putting the belt on a face for a while (which would also allow you to move Renluenn into the title picture in service of your real mission). On the other hand, this four way match could be a clever method of shifting the belt directly to Alan Parent to appease the vocal Team Puwowesu fanbase. But that would mean two champions in a row who are poor workers. And of course, even if I'm right about a face champion, Beau is as likely a choice than Sanders. So basically what I'm saying is... I picked the guy I like.

  7. Skip Beau vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

    Stanley Carpenter vs Davie Renluenn

The Paratroopers vs Southern Hospitality & Canadian Crusher

Cal Sanders vs Nomad © - Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

I almost picked Sanders to win the title, as I don't think you can spin out Nomad's run much longer with only two credible challengers, but I think he'll score one more defence and drop the title to Beau at the next show.

  8. Paradigm vs Canadian Crusher

    The Paratroopers vs Southern Hospitality

    Stanley Carpenter vs Nomad

Cal Sanders vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

    Skip Beau vs Davie Renluenn

Very hard time picking that last fight, as you obviously want to keep Davie looking strong. On the other hand, I still believe you need to move the belt from Nomad to Skip (who then has as many as six credible challengers to work through). Either that or you need a heel turn or some fresh blood to mix things up.

  9. Cal Sanders vs Canadian Crusher

    - Sentimental pick. I like Cal, he's always a good worker for me

    Paranoia vs Joffy Laine

    - Time for Joffey to push back

    Paradox vs Davie Renluenn

    - Need to keep the agents looking good

Paradigm vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

    - Pararesu beats Puroresu? I think some Para shenanigans will come into play here

    Stanley Carpenter vs Tex Tagan

    - Some day, Stanley Carpenter will win a match, but it is not this day

Skip Beau vs Nomad © - Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

    - Too soon for a title change, I'm thinking. Although you might want to move the belt to Skip sooner rather than later, since most of your credible contenders are Heels
