  5. Kichi could be coming down to earth after a hot start, and Lucas just keeps on truckin'. Also third week in a row Kichi is in a dead heat for second place in match ratings. It's a matter of time until she scores the big one. Now, to the promos. Let's see here...Miss Hida isn't angry. Remember, she never promised victory. She promised pain. Indeed, she thanks Sterling Silver for the excellent fight and looks forward to hurting each other again the next time they meet. Ah, so someone explained the League's schedule to her. Well right then. You ought to know Miss Hida's spiel by now for Jimmy Anarchy. The Carnival of Violence is coming to his town. He'd better impress her. Or she'll beat him unconscious. You know, more than she was already gonna. Lucas Molina, now the only undefeated member of Delta, doesn't even want to talk about Monty Dhillon. He tapped out like everyone else. End of story. Though how Sterling Silver appears to want to play spoiler between him and Kichi Hida is, well, interesting. Because yes, Lucas watches the show and keeps track of the standings. It's part of his weekly preparations. He was curious to see if the two of them would go neck and neck until they met in the ring. Silver is the one who put a stop to that. So, interesting. He's not going to lose focus just because he's in the sole lead, though. The League is a marathon, not a sprint. But if he's telling the truth, he doubts Silver is in his league anyway. He'll see her in the ring. ALPHA DIVISION (1) Nuclear Templeton (3-0, OVR 452) vs. (7) Mel O'Hallister (0-3, OVR 447) (5) The Mastodon (1-2, OVR 439) vs. (3) Brandy McDonald (2-1, OVR 457) (4) Big Scott Weathers (2-1, OVR 452) vs. (6) De'siree Mitchell (1-2, OVR 430) (2) George Mastachas (3-0, OVR 444) vs. (8) Pulsar (0-3, OVR 430) BETA DIVISION (3) Billy Norris (2-1, OVR 448) vs. (8) Blood River (0-3, OVR 449) (2) Jean-Paul Ouilette (3-0, OVR 454) vs. (6) Markus Clay (1-2, OVR 431) (1) Daniel Simmons (3-0, OVR 454) vs. (7) Terrance Stevens (0-3, OVR 432) (5) Angela Wassermann (1-2, OVR 432) vs. (4) Reverend Johnny Gross (2-1, OVR 437) GAMMA DIVISION (1) Yoshii Nakamatsu (3-0, OVR 449) vs. (2) Brian Blackfield (3-0, OVR 482) (3) Diego Rodriguez (2-1, OVR 442) vs. (5) Erick Gibson (1-2, OVR 430) (4) Diamond (2-1, OVR 441) vs. (7) El Tornado (0-3, OVR 425) (6) Jun Onoo (1-2, OVR 438) vs. (8) Indigo Rose (0-3, OVR 426) DELTA DIVISION (2) Sterling Silver (2-1, OVR 444) vs. (1) Lucas Molina (3-0, OVR 413) (8) Christian Priest (1-2, OVR 459) vs. (6) Devil's Delight (1-2, OVR 403) (7) Monty Dhillon (1-2, OVR 448) vs. (5) Lord Robert Abernathy (1-2, OVR 405) (3) Kichi Hida (2-1, OVR 411) vs. (4) Jimmy Anarchy (1-2, OVR 431)
  6. The wins are less shocking this time. Abernathy is still a bit surprising, but Kichi's always had a knack for hanging around in matches. The League got to see her slam her knee brace into someone's face as hard as she can for the first time. Jimmy Anarchy on the other hand, well...his losing record from last season ought to speak for itself. No further comments from me on that. On to the promo section! I think I'm getting the hang of translating Miss Hida's brand of partially incoherent Japanese. Paradoxically, she thanks Lord Abernathy for showing her his best violence. The Ringmaster was well pleased. She is only sorry she did not break his nose with her knee in return. And now, she says, the challenge is one Sterling Silver. Can she bring high quality violence? Or will the Carnival of Violence have it's first disappointment since its arrival in the League? Meanwhile, Lucas Molina says he was right about Jimmy Anarchy. The man wasn't in Molina's league. Word choice intentional. Monty Dhillon, however, now has a chance to prove he is. Considering the two Lucas has faced thus far...he has his doubts. He'll see you in the ring, Monty. 7. Honestly I'm kind of in slack jawed awe. Kichi Hida got incredibly lucky in my view. Lucas Molina...less so, but still. I did not expect either of them to win. The match times, I figured as much. Kichi vs another striker is always a sprint and no submission specialist ever has a fast match without being squished. I also didn't expect me simply picking whoever had the highest OVR to, well, work. Especially the ones who are pretty close together. But what the hell, let's keep it going. More in character, Miss Hida (if I have this translated right), promises more pain. Monty Dhillon was just the opening night for the Carnival of Violence. Lord Robert Abernathy had better bring his best violence, or the Carnival's Ringmaster will be disappointed. What happened to Mr. Dhillon is what happens when Miss Hida is pleased. Imagine what happens when she's displeased. Lucas appreciates Christian Priest as a competitor, and sends him much respect. But he wasn't on Lucas's level, and Jimmy Anarchy isn't, either. He'll see you in the ring, Jimmy. Yes. Yes I am. Either it'll work or it won't. 🤷‍♂️
  9. Miss Hida is uh, slightly incoherent at the best of times, her English is a little shaky, and my Japanese is almost non existent, but as I understand it she isn't promising wins, titles, or glory. Her only prediction is pain. The Carnival of Violence has come to The League, and it's Ringmaster plans to leave a wide swathe of bleeding and battered opponents. Whether she wins or not, nobody is leaving their matches with her unscathed. So the rest of the division should probably get ready. She and Lucas have uh, met before, so he is. Speaking of Lucas, his plan is do his talking in the ring. Specifically, via his favorite sounds. The agonized cries of his opponents as they're stretched and contorted beyond human design specifications, and the rhythmic thudding of their hand on the mat as they tap out.
  10. Bluntly, no. I mentioned Mr. Infinity specifically because he's one of the very few to have a total of 3 to resist any kind of damage. The vast majority of character who are nigh invulnerable only have 2. I mean, since I wrote that I've glanced through the Greek Gods and the final version of Terminus, and yeah it holds up. Hence why I called having a 3 extremely high. Most characters in the default database would not be able to damage someone with a 3, and many of the ones who could lose the ability to once they've been damaged enough. Really I included 3 for completeness, as the power allows any rank from 1 to 3. So, technically the range of possibilities is 0 to 3. Even if it's never really used, it's still there.
  11. Yes, I noticed during Darby's entrance. they come out from behind one of those side video panels. They're not tunnels anymore. They're disguised.
  12. I halfway agree with this. Like, Swerve doesn't need a goon squad to be great. It diminishes him. Now, if he'd recruited (for example) The Firm, Private Party (I know they're faces, but still), or someone like that? Someone who's been on television, in storylines, and around in general? I could get behind that. I mean, what are Los Ingobernables doing? I mean, this is some relative nobody and a guy who I don't know has ever left Dark. Hell, what are Peter Avalon's crew up to?
  13. I didn't mean to imply that they were. My point is why does it matter if Jericho is being a self-aggrandizing jerk in this specific context? He put a nobody by comparison to him over of his own free will. Got beat clean on national television. No interference. No cheating. No excuses other than cheap heel BS like "I wasn't ready" or whatever he's gonna say about it tomorrow night. He didn't have to do that. Nobody would have thought less of him if he kept his mouth shut or let it be the usual 5 minute or less squash. Whether he did it out of the kindness of his heart or is kind of irrelevant, in my opinion, precisely because he did what long time vets are supposed to do. What he's been doing for the back third/quarter of his career. Use his star power to elevate other talent. Has it gone perfectly? No. But he could easily just not work with lesser known talent at all. Honestly, if he's only doing it to make himself look better then surprise! Doing good things for others makes people think better of you. He's cracked the code. Good for him.
  14. Doing a good thing for a selfish reason is still doing a good thing. It's wrestling. God only knows if Jericho putting Andretti over will work long term, whether he intended it to or not. It was still something he didn't need to do but did anyway. Everything else is a bunch of hot air.
  15. Just downloaded and had a look around. Did you mean for all of your Storylines to only happen once? It seems like some of them ought to be open to happening over and over. Also, bless your sweet heart for doing this. I can see how much work you've put in and how much you've got left to go. The X-Men update will be beefy indeed.
  16. I will await the end of the season, unless you want the two now. Do what you think is best. You are the boss of this show.
  17. Quoting also triggers notifications. Maybe I should've done that. Shrug. Okay. I'll have to trim one of the three I'd narrowed it down to out, and somehow decide on priority for the other two. Eh, there's time.
  18. I know you're currently mid season and thus not accepting entries, but I still had a question. Do you have a character limit per handler? I have several workers I could possibly enter, and before I get too excited I'd like to know if only one of them will be allowed. Easier to narrow things down, you see.
  19. This is an excellent guide. I like it a lot. it covers basically everything I would If I made one, and actually alerted me to the attribute cheesing you mentioned. The only thing I'd add to it is that Stamina is God. Stamina penalties will kill your ability to effectively counter the opponent's moves, leading to you getting beaten up fast and them gaining momentum and being able to execute more moves with greater ease. If you want to win, and win a lot more than you would otherwise (as opposed to purely roleplaying, which is just as valid) the first positive attribute you should take is the first level of Cardio Freak. Yes, even if you're a puro or MMA god with 600 Stamina. It effectively doubles how much Stamina you have and so provides a big extension to the time before you starting taking defensive penalties. It also makes it so that the "Breathing Hard" status (-10% off your attack roll) will take longer to pop up while performing stamina intensive moves like most High and Finisher level moves are. Seriously. Of two otherwise evenly matched wrestlers, if one has significantly poorer Stamina they'll lose against the other almost every time. It can even sway matches against a better wrestler, if they start running out first. Stamina is the most important stat in the game. Every wrestler needs it. Cardio Freak makes it better. And that's the end of my tale.
  20. Oh god no. Those are the bonuses I'm using, not the actual stats. +1 is actually 12 (+1), +6 is 22 (+6), +10 is 30 (+10), etc. You've seen d20 ability scores before. M&M's got several quirks that tweak that around. Iron Man doesn't have a Con Score in the sky somewhere, he's wearing protective armor, and his repulsors aren't him throwing stuff yanno? Attack and defense bonuses are independent from Ability Scores in the version I use. But that's mostly irrelevant to CBU.
  21. Here I am circling back around with some new suggestions. You have the Assassin personality power. Why not Thief? Players could make Thieves Guild. That'd be neat. But the meat, today? I'd like Villain Schemes that can target other, unallied villains. Like Poison Ivy finds out Lex Luthor's polluting TF out of the environment and tries to kill him for it. Or Black Cat robs the wrong guy and he sics Bullseye on her. Or simply when Gotham has it's gang wars or Marvel's Maggia has another falling out among the membership. Stuff like that. Right now villains all seem to be on the same page regarding doing the villainy, and that's just not how comic storytelling has ever worked. So if Villain Schemes could target other unallied villains as well as Civilians, Heroes, and Nemeses, that'd also be pretty neat. But uh, maybe not Corruption. That'd be just weird. 😅
  22. Tradeoffs in M&M don't work like that. In my example Hulk would actually have about +5 Attack and Defense Bonus and about +15 Strength and Toughness Bonus. Hawkeye would have about +15 Attack and Defense Bonus and about +5 Ranged Damage and Toughness Bonus. Total opposites, which works great for an example. I'm benchmarking Prominent/5 Star characters as that game's Power Level 10 characters, because it's easier to just chop whatever PL my character is in half to get a starting point. Tradeoffs are...okay, so starting at the beginning. a Default PL 10 starter character has +10 Attack, Defense, Damage, and Toughness Bonus. All four the same, because what make a character in that system a certain power level is the total of the offensive (attack & damage) and defensive (defense and toughness) stats. Offense stats combined for a PL 10 needs to equal double that at 20, or they're not PL 10 offensively. Defense works the same way. Where the tradeoff part comes in is that characters are not required to have those stats be +10. One can be lowered to raise the other, which is what my hypothetical Hulk and Hawkeye are doing. Hulk has traded accuracy for strength and defense for toughness, while Hawkeye has done the opposite. It's a lovely system, really. If you're following so far, then you may be thinking that Minor Leaguers would be PL 6 and Renowneds would be PL 14, and guess what? You're right! The PL 6s, instead of being balanced like PL 10s are with +10s in each category, are balanced with +6s in each category. PL 14s are balanced with +14s in each category. Which is where those numbers in the tables come in for my conversions. The mightier the character, the more likely they are to be redonkulously high in something and thus get a beefy converted skill or power. If it helps, think of -5 as Very Low, -3 & 4 as Low, -2 to+2 as Average, +3 & +4 as High, and +5 as Very High. The other tables, well. As I said, you can count. But dear god no, I don't have the free time to note down literally everyone's abiliies, skills, and powers. I have a full time job. Though I think the tables still work as a broad understanding of what the default DB is trying to do. I didn't pull the relative comparisons out of my backside. I researched the dang thing to get the ranges and frequencies right. And you'd be surprised how much longer someone with 8 Health and Resistance to Bodily Damage 2 lasts compared with someone with 6 Health and Resistance to Bodily Damage 1 or 0. Unless you're setting Min Damage to be the same as the actual damage on all attacking powers, which would render any Resistance powers irrelevant.
