Media groups need to be imported before broadcasters or the media groups can't be automatically assigned. I also agree that broadcasters being imported before companies is easier. Why not just amend the list above if that's how you do it?

You're correct - Media Groups should be done AFTER Broadcasters, I will change it.

So I've just attempted this as I was hoping it would solve the worker employment histories issue I outlined when releasing my mod but I ran into a few issues -

    1. Alter Egos - In this order all company specific alter egos do not import as the companies do not exist yet.
    2. Mask/Hair Histories - In this order all the mask losses where the mask was owned by a company do not import as the companies do not exist yet.
    3. Worker Histories do not import - I checked after importing the companies. In this test I was importing the default data into a blank database. I checked Aaron Andrews who I know has an employment history with no end date, Tommy Cornell who I know has both ended and ongoing entries and Jack Bruce who I know has only ended employment histories. None had any employment history records on them.
    4. Titles - In this order alliance titles do not import as the alliances do not exist yet.

Regarding the alter egos, mask/hair histories and titles, that is easily rectifiable as you can return to each section after importing the companies and alliances and redo the importing process, which obviously brings them into the database.

However for the worker histories though, there's not really a work around that's feasible. You could rejig the order somewhat to import companies before workers, then delete the companies and re-import them; this creates what I'm going to characterise as 'false employment histories' in that workers now have employment histories, but they are not actually linked to the companies they apply to - instead they are entries where the 'employer' dropdown is left blank, and in the 'give their initials' field, the company's initials are added. Using the Jack Bruce example, the entries are still 'NYCW (1994-1996)', 'SWF (2004-2019)' and 'TCW (1996-2004)', however if you enter each entry, the employer is empty, and the letters ('NYCW', 'SWF' or 'TCW') entered into the free text field. The problem with this is that in-game it will not list Jack Bruce as an alumni of any of the companies. Possibly not a huge deal for everyone, but that's then down to personal preference.

If you import companies before workers, you DO actually get employment histories in tact and fully functional. However, once you delete the companies to reimport and gain all the contracts, it then reverts to the problem I outlined above. I did actually speak to Adam about this issue before when working on my mod. Unfortunately I can't find the conversation now, I think I wrote it somewhere in the tech support section, but the issue essentially lies in the fact that you cannot import contracts separately; if you could, you could rejig the order of importing to companies > workers > contracts.

Anyway I hope this helps regarding the import order and if anyone does manage to figure a fully functional workaround for the employment histories then I'm eager to know it! 😄

    1. I re-looked at it and you are correct. It seems there are several Catch 22 situations where - Alter Egos won't import by company unless the company is there, but the company won't import worker contracts (or alter egos) unless both are already present. I almost feel like some things need imported for something else - then be deleted, and reimported a little bit later. I will have to look at what happens when importing the worker - company - alter ego - delete company, add broadcasters, reimport company?

2, 3, 4. I believe this might also require importing it first to get the required thing - then, delete and reimport later? If companies are done before workers, then importing workers will not import their contracts. There seems to be some conflicts where the company needs imported both before AND after importing the worker. To best cover these instances, I think it's best to modify this order to include at which stages companies should be deleted, then reimported. For example, it's not that much work to set Reverie manually to own USWA, but it's a lot of work to manually set every Mask/Hair loss. In some cases, it might be necessary to note which import order leaves some manual work.

I did go point by point, rather than reading everything - my mistake, or I would've noticed you mentioned the notion of import it early, then later delete and import again. I will have to look at which stages this should be done, and which data might be lost by this. Example, by reimporting the company once the broadcaster is already done, we will have to reset Reverie to reown USWA and WWE to reown WWE Network. In any event, this can be made note of, along with what needs to be manually redone.

Thanks to everyone - it's going to take multiple people to troubleshoot and determine the best practices.

  2. 1. When deleting a worker in database, make the game also delete their Moveset like it does their other stats.

    2. Please put in "Search" for Editing Movesets for parameters "Assigned" and "Unassigned". This can help us bulk delete movesets if we just deleted a large share of workers. Actually, if we could have this for Moves as well, to delete unassigned moves, that would also be great.

  3. This is the best practice when importing databases. Break it into two phases.

    Import Order:

Phase 1: Moves > Move Sets (This will include new moves into move sets) > Injuries > Workers > Alter Egos (They will be applied), Agers, Injury History, Mask/Hair History, Chemistry, Announcer Experience, Worker Relationships, Starting Absences/Morale/Injuries

Phase 2: Companies (This will import Worker Contracts and Worker Employment History) > Titles This will import Title History), Company Relationships, Alliances > Tag Teams, Stables, Alliance Members, Starting Storylines, Excursions, Training Facilities > Graduates, Broadcasters*** > Media Groups > Events, TV Shows > Broadcasting Deals > Scandals, Eras, Hall Of Fame, Hall Of Immortals > All Else

*** Some Broadcasters own Companies, and some are owned by Companies - some Broadcasters are owned by Media Groups. I suggest importing Broadcasters first, then Companies. This will cause it to import companies owning broadcasters, but NOT import broadcasters which own companies (you have to do this yourself). Regardless which you import first between a Company and Broadcaster, you will have a tiny amount of manual work.

If you import in this order, it should retain all your histories - work history, title history, etc. There are a few points where things can go wrong - like above with Broadcasters/Companies. When you import something, it will auto-set what it can based on what else has already been imported. If you import companies before workers, it will not import work history or contracts. If you import belts before workers, it will not import title history. If you import broadcasters before companies, it will import companies which own broadcasters but not broadcasters (like Reverie) owning companies. In the Broadcaster/Company situation, you will have a tiny amount of manual work ahead, but it's paltry.

Best of luck - I will answer any questions about Import Order.

IF YOU ARE A MODDER: Please, copy and paste these instructions to your mod. Most players will probably use an incorrect import order and have some kind of mistake.

If you done goofed up - delete what you just imported. Go delete the companies, import the workers who work for them, then re-import the companies and you will get their contracts and work histories.

Edit - someone sitcky this bad boy, or quote the text into a stickied appropriate post. I see a lot of people confused by this, and I was too for a little bit.

  5. To better simulate wrestling realism (especially in the last 10 years), companies should be able to feature a championship from another company similar to borrowing a worker. There should be a few rules:

    1. Borrowing a title comes with two options:

    A. Borrow Champion (who can defend, but not lose, the belt)

    B. Borrow Title - Your worker can win the belt, but either: must drop back to the Former Champion (you get him/her with the belt), or your guy (with the belt) will be auto-loaned to their company to drop the belt to the former champion. The screen should have a pull-down menu for you to choose the worker who will win the belt (no surprises). There should be a "Number Of Dates" for both sides - meaning, during the time you have their belt, you can both book the champion for title matches.

This should prevent players from "cheating" by bringing in other champs to screw things up. Also, the player has to book around the borrowed champion's creative control, so we shouldn't be able to job Okada to Orange Cassidy or Baron Corbin.

This should require a positive Company Relationship, and have an option in Company Relationships for "agrees to loan championships". If you double cross the worker, it should count as an ultimate aggression/betrayal of that worker AND their company, and reduce your company's reputation among neutral companies - reduce it even more among that company's friends - and no effect or a small increase with that company's enemies.

  7. 1. Autobooker is Vince McMahon and has no memory of what has been recently done, who is feuding, or what the product type is.

    2. Autobooker is Tony Khan and will be happy to create shows that have no sense of distributing the angles throughout a card, doesn't care if it has 3 matches of the same type in a row, forget roller coaster theory.

    3. Autobooker is Vince Russo and does not care about sustaining popularity or trying to make sense (on terms of title matches and ignoring match types or lengths that the fans need), and does not care if it books a guy with 30% stamina or 70% Body into a 40 minute match with a high workrate company.

    -----

1a. Please have autobooker look at the last 2 weeks of what was done and create something "similar but not a copy".

1b. Please have autobooker attempt to advance the feuds/storylines.

    2. Please have autobooker do a second pass and redistribute matches/angles in hopes to simulate roller coaster theory.

    3. Please have autobooker consider a worker's stamina and condition when booking them, and have some awareness about momentum loss.

I've tried using it, but it always just creates an unusable mess.

  8. Stables are only a current thing. Tag teams are forever. What I am saying is, I want "Stables" to have a "Legacy" option that lets me select workers who were once in the stable but have since left the company or retired.

Bullet Club, NWO, DX Four Horseman, Heenan Family. There is no way to record this stuff because all the wrestlers are dead, retired, don't belong to "the company".
