  1. A little back story then the main post. I've been playing GDS games since 2007/08 when I found them when I was in Iraq. Since then, the team split up and a new studio was formed. That studio consistently puts out 5 games a year. They are the same 5 games, just with various updates and upgrades, but they are consistent. Keeps the community engaged and excited. What's more, while each game is different, you can tell that each game is made by a group that shares ideas and information. The games feel like they are coming from a single studio. My favorite two game series here are TEW and WMMA, both created by Adam. While I prefer WMMA, I think the vast majority of people here are here for those two games and specifically TEW. If you boot one up and then jump into the other, you can tell that they came from the same studio. Which they are even more so, coming from the same creator. He did experiment with Comic Book Hero, which had a great foundation and potential. The only other creator that seems active is Derek. His games always sound great and I hope they have found an audience, but they don't feel like anything by Adam. In fact, if you told me that the two have never talked and shared ideas, I wouldn't be surprised. Instead of seeming like a game studio, it seems far more like two people making games sometimes and then a company putting them out. Code of Superheroes should have been been Comic Book Hero 2, but instead it seemed like if CBH was Marvel then CoS was DC (or the other way around, whichever way you'd prefer the comparison). Mafia, Imperium and Arcadia all sounded awesome and I was picturing these games in an architecture similar to TEW or WMMA or even CBH for Mafia. But again, I wouldn't have even known that these games were from the same studio if I didn't get them from this website. On top of that, the games that most of us play are so spread out. Which I get. You having one guy put out a game a year, especially when he spends so much time fixing the game he put out to make sure his customers are getting the best experience possible (I can't speak highly enough of the customer engagement). But that still leaves big gaps between games we look forward to. I believe WMMA 5 was put out in late 2017 or early 2018 with TEW 2020 coming out early to mid 2020. That's honestly not too bad, unless you aren't interested in WMMA at all. Then you are talking about a 4 year gap in between games that interest you. I'm sure in that time, we've lost players that just haven't kept up as this is a place that you have to deliberately come to. And without new content, it's pretty easy to forget about this place. In conclusion, if you have got through my ramblings, I think the biggest two things that could help GDS can be summed up in two points. #1 Put out at least a game a year. #2 Those games should feel like they came from the same studio. I know that #1 is easier said than done, but #2 is a must, I believe. I also hope this is taken the way I meant it. I'm not attempting to slight GDS, but instead hoping to point out things that I hope are clear but for one reason or another, isn't being hit.
  2. My hard drive started having issues. It won't load windows but I was able to switch everything over to my new SSD. However, even though I moved my games over the new SSD they won't open and I can't unlicense the Elicense. There used to be a thread in here that told you who to email in cases like this but I can't find it. What can I do?
  3. That would be viable if the game didn't take so long to load between days. It takes minutes between each day and even longer on Friday - Sunday when most fight cards are in WMMA5 and once the world is more advanced in TEW2020 it takes that long as well. So while I'm waiting for those minutes I do other things on the computer. And to make my resolution worse just so I can play these doesn't make since. If the game was pretty close to instantaneous when it comes to loading then this wouldn't be an issue. I've advocated for that to be the only update in one of the next games. Give us TEW2023 that is the exact same as TEW2020 but the only thing that is worked on in between is to fix the load times. But since that's not the case, it just doesn't work for me to have to either sit there and do nothing but wait for the game to load to the next day or to mess up everything else I do in the mean time to wait for it. Not to mention, this is not something I have to do with any other game. Even small indie games. Could you imagine having to change your resolutions for your entire system everytime you wanted to play stardew Valley or Terreria? Those games are constant without load times and you don't have to change your resolution..
  4. This is a sad day. Last year I decided to upgrade to a 4K TV. The wife isn't really into tv's at all. She barely watches TV and when she does, it's netflix or another streaming network with me. So for her, I got a Vizio P series because it was a good TV but on the lower side as far as cost. On the 4th of July, as we were getting ready to go on a trip and see family, my 2 year old threw a toy car and hit my TV cracking it. The relevance of the TV is that I've been running my computer off my TV since 2005. I've been proud to have a "computer smart TV" before smart tv's ever came out or became popular. With the way the P series is configured, it doesn't work the best as a computer monitor. So when he broke that I went with a Samsung Q70. But my work is super busy in the summer time so I really haven't had time to sit down and play games but today I finally was going to sit down and have some me time. The Q70 is definitely a better TV and has the proper 4K settings when running as a computer monitor. So when running it in 4096x2160 resolution everything on my computer looks great. I can read everything from my couch. No issue with desktop icons. The world is lovely. But to do this it needs to be at the recommended scaling of 300%. When I have it like this the bottom of WMMA5 and TEW2020 are cut off which breaks the game when you open certain menus. So the option is, change the setup just for GDS games and ruin the rest of my experience or not play GDS games. I don't know why GDS games (could be just games made by Ryan but those are the ones I play) can't run in full screen like just about every other game ever made, but this will be the end of my GDS days, at least until this is fixed. I had almost caught with with the current date playing WMMA5. I started in 1993 and had been running two events a week with 14 weight classes. I really just got into TEW2020 and was ready to really start diving in. But the game is unplayable at this point. There are some screens that I can't get out of and some I have to blindly click the bottom or the screen to get out of. I don't get this decision, which they know has been something people have complained about for years upon years. But my TV's have never given me an issue. Hopefully future games don't have this issue but unfortunately I can't say I'll ever be back. With the next game they put out probably not coming out for a year or two, and there be no reason for me to check the forums if I can't play, I can see myself phasing out GDS from my memory. Which sucks as the community is one of the most involved out of any game I have ever played.
  5. I've always thought that the TEW games are really good. TEW 2020 is no exception. But the one thing I've always wished for with all of these games and the WMMA games is that the time in between days was faster. I have a pretty good system and I wish that it used more of it to speed it up. I have wanted to build a completely new game world so I am simming the game from pretty far back and I want to get to 2020. I let the game in "set it and forget it" mode over night. I put it on unlimited sim and went to bed. When I started the game only had 8 companies and no workers besides the owners of those companies. I wake up and the game still only has 15 companies so there was not explosion of companies. Obviously there are a decent amount of workers but it has only simmed a little more then 4+ years. At this rate going from 1885-2020 is going to take forever. I was really hoping I'd wake up to a 20 year sim by now. I never had an issue with the UI or any of the other stuff. But I think the time it takes to sim in these games is holding it back. I would love it if the next game Adam puts out is TEW2024 and its the same game as TEW2020 but the sim time is drastically improved. I'd pay double for the same game just for that.
  6. Not an apples to apples view. TEW10 didn't go to steam when it was released. It was years later. If you go look for a game and it tells you that it's the 2010 edition and it's currently 2015 you are not likely to buy it. Far more people are going to by NBA2K21 then NBA2K17.
  7. Original release day - no work Changed release day - no work Actual release day - at work The world can be cruel at times. No matter. Just 2 more hours.
  8. I feel you. I generally sim the game. I buy it every year, only get a few months in before its I feel it's to monotonous to play. But I do like see the updates of people that do play for years. I've got through 27 years in WMMA5 putting on two shows a week but TEW just takes to long for me.
  9. I've always been interested in the Thunderverse. However, with a game as slow as TEW it's not really practically for me to have more then two games running at a time. So play a with the default database and a real world mod. In the last TEW game I tried to merge all the Thunderverse characters with the default database but the game would crash after a couple months of play. This was right when the thunderverse had launched so I don't know if there was a bug that was fixed later or something else. Hopefully this year there won't be any problem. I always feel the bigger the world the better.
  10. I tried to do two 32,000 databases and then import one into the other. I figured it would allow me to do so and then crash afterwards but then you could have a 64,000 name database. Unfortunately it crashes a few hundred in.
  11. Updated. Added Version 2 (Lite edition to add to other mods)
  12. You are awesome. I'll make make a reduced version of 32,000. Thank you!
  13. <p><strong>Anyone can use this for any purpose they would like. I'm very bad at noticing I have emails so there is no need to ask. No need to name me or anything like that. Glad I can contribute to the community</strong></p><p> </p><p> This is a simple mods that expand the random generated names in the game. There are two different versions. <strong>Version 1</strong> is a default database replaces. It adds <strong>1,346 names to both Team and Stable</strong> generation as well as bumps up the <strong>worker names to a total of 70,466 names</strong>. <strong>This database replaces the default database</strong>. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Version 2</strong> is a standalone mod that has just the Team, Stable and Worker names. However, instead of the full 70,466 names it only has <strong>32,000 worker names</strong>. This is because that is the max number that can be opened at one time. <strong>Version 2 is best to download if you want to add these names to a mod</strong>. Edit: When you import them you will end up with 31,850 worker names as due to spacing errors, some names were duplicated. I will go through these and try to fix that so there is a full 32,000 names. But in the mean time, 31,850 names is ok I guess. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Important Note for Worker Names in Version 1</strong></p><p> As of right now, I don't know how many names the game can hold without crashing when you look at the list. In previous games, even if you had more names then the game could read at once it would just not load the extra names. This years game seems to crash when you try to open the worker names section when you have to many names. The worker generation is not effected by this. It will still draw from the entire list. I am waiting on a response from Adam to find out if he knows what the cap is so I could make a smaller database that can be imported to other mods. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Version 1 Download Link</strong></p><p> <a href="https://www.mediafire.com/file/abh1nk8cj4h733z/Default.rar/file" rel="external nofollow">https://www.mediafire.com/file/abh1nk8cj4h733z/Default.rar/file</a></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Version 2 Download Link</strong></p><p> <a href="https://www.mediafire.com/file/m02dpwsx1nemzof/Names.rar/file" rel="external nofollow">https://www.mediafire.com/file/m02dpwsx1nemzof/Names.rar/file</a></p>
  14. This looks really cool... but is this even an option without Adam spending weeks to recreate code to get this to work?
  15. You are awesome. I've always hated the blue backgrounds and much preferred the WMMA GIF setup with the company in the background. I didn't even know this was a thing in 2016. I can't wait for you to finish. Thank you. You are a universal treasure.
