  2. He gambled, and he drank. I knew that. So when I invited him to my New Year’s Eve party to welcome in 1997 with a high stakes poker game, I knew he would come. So that’s how I wound up across the table from a sloshed Trenton Evenrud. <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/LucianCarter/TEW/RyanDiary/Trenton%20Evenrud_zpsejgws4s8.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Trenton Evenrud_zpsejgws4s8.jpg"/></a> “It’s your bet,” I said. “I’m… I’m a little low on cash.” “That’s ok, we can make it interesting.” “How?” he slurred. “If I win this hand, I take over as head booker of your wrestling company.” “My company?’ “Hell, you can keep the pot either way.” “Oh yeah? Ok hotshot, you got it.” I didn’t leave it to chance. His vision was too blurry at this point to notice me slipping the extra two aces from my sleeve. When I beat his three Jacks with my three aces he looked sullen, even as he scooped up the cash. “To hell with it,” he said, “I didn’t like doing it anyway.” It was January 1, and I was now the head booker of Awesome Max Wrestling. “Head Booker Ryan Aitchison" I liked the sound of that. <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/LucianCarter/TEW/RyanDiary/Wade%20Orson_zps63x6tvu7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Wade Orson_zps63x6tvu7.jpg"/></a> Out of character: Using DerekB’s C-Verse 1997 mod I am taking the Ryan Aitchison challenge: My Michael Moore diary has now ended. I will be continuing my Lucha Underground Diary, but I have lots of free time right now and can handle two diaries. This one will be on more of an out of character level than my LU diary. I really love Voeltzwagon’s All Action Wrestling Diary so I’ll be emulating his style a lot. I hope people enjoy this one! http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=532283
  3. <a href=" http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/LucianCarter/TEW/TEW%20RW/Lucha%20Underground_zpsgyebmkrc.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Lucha Underground_zpsgyebmkrc.jpg"/></a> Lucha Underground - As Real As It Gets I haven't seen any Lucha Underground diaries, so I figured I'd give one a try. This diary will treat wrestling as a shoot. Dario Cueto will be my user character and the real owner of the company. I will treat the shows the way they are done in real life, i.e., my shows will be a drama about a wrestling federation, not a sports show. I'm going to avoid talking about the backstage as much as I possibly can. I will have pictures and I'll be doing a fair amount of the dialogue, rather than just describing it. I'm not going into a ton of detail on the matches, just a paragraph or so on the highlights. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=532241
  4. Photobucket users: How the BLEEP do you search your own library? I can't possibly do a diary with images if I can't figure that out.
  5. Has there ever been a 9000-Verse Diary? I'm wondering how the heck one would do it.
  6. What's a good pace to put out new shows? I have a bunch of free time right now and I'm way ahead on one of my diaries. At what point do I risk overkill?
  7. You may already know me. I’m Michael Moore, the most successful documentary maker in history. After years of criticizing America, I finally gave up and decided to move to Canada. Canada has many great things. Free healthcare. A true range of choices of who to vote for. Gun control. Four distinct seasons. But one thing it doesn’t have is a great wrestling federation. That’s about to change. You may not have realized I was a wrestling fan, but I love men in spandex leaping around like maniacs. Don’t worry Canada. Moore Wrestling is on the way. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=532229
  8. So are these images free to use, as long as credit is given?
  9. Finally saw the promo. It was good. It was not great. Whoever said Jay Lethal's Flair impression was a far superior promo, nailed it.
  10. Wait. You actually think the challenges were legitimate? Are you kidding me? Nothing that happens on WWE isn't staged. You think Tarver really dropped the keg? You think Skip Sheffield really took that long to get it on his shoulder? They handicapped the people who might have accidentally beaten the winner.
  11. Danielson would do better with a mask. Yes Benoit had a great resume. But that's an apples and oranges comparison. The industry is not in the same state now it was when Benoit was coming up. There is no ECW, TNA is no substitute for WCW and the independent scene is suffering the same audience fragmentation the rest of the business (and media in general) is. How could Danielson put together a more impressive resume today than he already has? If Benoit were coming up today would WWE allow him to do half the things he used to? WWE could use a new, credible, technical wrestler. Technical wrestling is, after all, low impact and safe. Our opinions differ on Daniels' charisma. I think he has a fair bit that could fuel a number of solid characters. Not sure how he would work as a heel. Benoit had far more menace than Danielson by far, but more charisma? I still wear my Benoit t-shirt and I'm not sure of that. Yes, it would be out of character for WWE to push him and I too will be surprised if it happens. But WWE still surprises me fairly often, even today.
  12. Is pushing Bryan Danielson that much more ridiculous than pushing Chris Benoit?
  13. Saw RAW live. Normally Vince craps all over Canada but last night he pulled out all the stops. Edge vs. Christian? Awesome. A brief Undertaker appearance, LayCool and Swagger also over from Smackdown. Virgil! I swore up and down the Bret match wouldn't even happen. What a swerve. Everybody was saying this was Bret's last night in WWE and instead he wins a title? I like Zac Ryder even more now that I have seen him live. Oh and there's a great bit between Santino and Koslov that was taped for Superstars. If you get the show be sure to check it out. Sadly, I don't. The only negatives? Yea Buzz was bad. And he tried to suck up to Canada but a US astronaut was not a good choice for a show in Toronto no matter how popular Dancing With the Stars is this side of the border. Even on tape I did not want to see Vickie Guererro but that was soften by learning she lost the RAW GM job. Beyond that I was just annoyed I was behind the boom camera and off to the side of the stationary camera so had basically no chance of appearing on camera.
  14. <p>The WWE Brass, who can't tell heel heat from X-Pac heat, heard the reaction of the crowd, who were peeved they had to see her not into her character, they decided to continue with it.</p><p> </p><p> On Smackdown she claimed to be both RAW GM and Smackdown consultant.</p>
  15. Fact is WWE's in-ring style has changed though. It's lower impact and safer now. Big Show doesn't do half the slams he did before. There are fewer big spots and bigger moves are saved mostly for finishers. This probably has more to do with genuine care for the workers' health than the change to PG.
  16. An often overstated case. In fact, not that many years ago, WWE was making MORE from TV than PPV. These days PPV is ahead again, but it's not so far ahead as to make TV meaningless.
  17. This 300 days a year figure is YEARS out of date. Guys like Cena who do tons of promotional work and Make-A-Wish appearances might be on the road 300 days a year but the average worker has a 4-day a week schedule. With some time off at Christmas it's closer to 200 days a year, not 300. International tours add maybe an extra 10 shows a year.
  18. You'd be surprised how many straight women enjoy all-male gay porn.
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="brashleyholland" data-cite="brashleyholland" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25170" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I've said it before and I'll say it again, DVR numbers are meaningless. Ratings are used for one reason and one reason only; advertising sales. What's advertised, when it's advertised and how much they charge for it. They don't take DVR ratings into account for that. <p> </p><p> Plus, just because you DVR something doesn't mean you watch it. I have a ton of stuff that DVR's automatically, that I never watch.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The times are changing. Yes, DVR #s are looked at differently than regular numbers because advertisers know they customer has the capacity to fast forward through commericals. But to say these numbers are ignored is an outdated statement. And, by the way, tracking of DVR #s is done based on those who claim to actually watch the show later. Not those who record it and never watch it.</p><p> </p><p> Also the rise of in-show product placement is, in part, to counter DVRs. So advertisers do care who DVRs since those are people who the in-show placements matter more to. Orlando Jordan showing up with a bottle of 5-hour Energy in his hand is something the viewer, theoretically, won't fast forward through.</p>
  20. RVD may have only had such a short match due to ring rust and reduced conditioning. He's been denying all along he's coming back. Has he been keeping in shape and practice?
  21. I still think Drew McIntyre is going to steal somebody's spot in MitB and win it all.
  22. Koslov co-stars in the new web sitcom they hope to shop to a network. So until that crashes and burns his job is safe.
