  5. So, apologies for the huge preface, but how do you book a heel Jack Bruce? In your own game or ideas for a help in mine?

I'd go for the Hiroshi Tanahashi and now John Cena route. Both are the former top guys, bot still see themselves as the top guys while gradually realizing their time is up. In Tana's case he will do whatever it takes to win. Cena not so much but he's cocky every now and then and I can see him go this route.

So, basically, "Former figurehead trying to keep up with the new guys and stay at the top no matter what"

It's more tweener than heel but it works perfectly since Bruce is the closest equivalent of both guys in the CVerse.

  7. Picture Xavier Woods reaching Kenny Omega level of skills and then it works out.

Brooklyn Brawler's christmas presents to his WWE employers in 2001 is to whistleblow their steroid issues. They're at war with my small-sized company so I'm glad to see their prestige shot.

Are you implying Kenny is even on the same universe as Xavier? He needs to improve a lot! :p

Also on that topic I notice the WWF LOVES to declare war on Michinoku Pro for whatever reason...why the hell would Vince bother with a small indy that isn't even Tokyo-based, that I do not know.

  11. Pardon my ignorance. This is not really a booking request. I'm just looking for an idea about NJPW.

How does a NJPW weekly show compare to Monday Night Raw? I know the product settings are different with the strong style. I'm wondering about angles. How do they do it in NJPW? Are the authority figures on the take? How are the women presented if there are women? etc etc

No weekly, road to only, final destination. They do some small shows to advance/set up storylines and build up to the big ones. These would be the "tour shows" in TEW terms but aren't weekly. So, imagine that today is the first day of the month. You have a show on the 16th, so there will be small shows on the 4th, 7th, 9th and 11th for example to hype it

No authority figures. Workers refer to "the company" "the higher ups" etc. if need be(Naito calling out NJPW pampering WWE for example).

Angles are just short promos or attacks or turns after the matches. Basic stuff. The real big promos are in interviews outside of the show, press conferences and whatnot.

Storylines are advanced trough these angles and inverviews and multiman tags and social media too. The real big storylines can have "slow burns" like the current Okada-Naito. They had a storyline 4 years ago that is now played in their current storyline. Naito's whole character arc started with fans turning on him several years ago and then him getting popular by just not caring(unless you're wearing LIJ merch, then he loves you)

Also, in New Japan, stables are crucial. Their whole booking philosophy with the multimans work because of them. So, if Okada and Naito are feuding it means CHAOS and Los Ingobernables de Japón respectively are feuding too, even if not "directly(member vs member)", and they'll meet in the multiman tags that sometimes leads to them facing off.

Stables are formed with interferences in matches, turns, sudden beatdowns and whatnot. Again, mostly basic stuff, no supernatural stuff and etc.

In terms of wrestlers, no women. In Japan men and women are completely separated and have their own promotions. Every now and then small companies book intergender matches. There can be managers like Yujiro's ladies or talented Bullet Club distraction Maria Kanellis.

I hope that covers everything up.

Usually the 2 headlining matches have a few minutes afterwards to talk, but outside of Bullet Club (the invading gaijins), there’s really not much ‘story’ beyond “you have the belt” or “I’m a better athlete” or “you’ve fallen off, get it together.” Most angles are actually handled in press conferences after the fact. And even Bullet Club has changed a bit since the Elite split.

There also aren’t really ‘authority figures’ in the same way. Hirooki Goto is the head booker, and he accompanies Kazukichi ‘Rainmaker’ Okada, which is basically a stamp that he was seen as a golden child, but even then, it took him 4 years to become their ace, so... Aside from Goto, the only one I see regularly is ‘red shoes’ the referee. Partly that’s due to he sparser storylines, partly due to it being treated MUCH more as a legit sport.

1 - Not trying to be a jerk, but this is wrong in so many levels I don't even know where to begin with.

2 - That would be Gedo. And except for the English commentators he isn't really treated as much more than "Okada's sidekick" :p
