  1. <p>Haha, good call on moving this. We totally got off track in the questions thread. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="raisingtheBANNER" data-cite="raisingtheBANNER" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44606" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Exactly! It's so much fun to set those up. I always wanna get them perfect and bring like the most impressive champs on but combine that with like storyline fights. Maybe rematches of previous great matches, trilogy fights, always want to get a legend on there as well and showcase like the 1 or 2 most promissing upandcomers. Makes the cards around the milestones always a hustle though. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></blockquote><p> Same here! It just feels right to have every fight on those cards be as significant as reasonably possible, whether for its story or its divisional impact.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="raisingtheBANNER" data-cite="raisingtheBANNER" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44606" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Man I hope it delivers. I'm so hyped for that one. Both are undefeated since I started. Monroe obviously starts with a loss though. Ramos is 8-0 all stoppages with 4 top contenders on his hit list. Monroe 7-0 also all finishes and 4 good guys in there but not as impressive a list as ramos has. Wish I could've gotten that one on 100 but it made too much sence now and I want to get the winner on that show defending it anyway. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></blockquote><p> Good luck! I had one game where they fought five times. Stopped each other twice and had a split decision after 11 rounds (couldn't believe they went the distance that time lol). Three 'good' fights, one 'great' fight, and one 'fantastic' fight (the 11-rounder featured 7 knockdowns iirc).</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="raisingtheBANNER" data-cite="raisingtheBANNER" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44606" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Wow didn't really knew that but it really does seem like momentum plays a big role. Marlon John for example lost like 4 in a row now. And I gave him guys like Linfield Ballard and Herringbone to get him back on track. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></blockquote><p> I'm not sure how the mechanic works but it sure seems to exist. I can't think of anything else that would explain some of these wild streaks (like Murilo Satinho winning as the underdog 9 times in a row against fighters I built to dethrone him lol), whether winning or losing. It can be sooo tricky to get them to reverse a slide like in that case with Marlon John.</p><p> </p><p> This lost connection/failed to save error is weird. It's getting to where I can't even sim a full month in the 1994 game without it failing again. So I built a test game with only one company and ~300 fighters. In that one I can consistently sim 5 years at a time with ease. And those five years go by in maybe an hour or so. It's <em>dramatically</em> faster than the other database. <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  2. Yup, exactly. Me too. That's one of my favorite parts of the game. Nice! Good luck with GAMMA 100. I love to stack those milestone cards too. I might take temporary control of an org if/when their 1,000th show rolls around in the 1994 sim game. Monroe and da Silva Ramos always seem to have very close, competitive fights in my games. It does seem more common to me for fighters with good stand up finishing skills to go on undefeated runs (like Sukarno pretty much every time lol), but I've also seen Foster & Fezzik finish their careers on runs with 10-15 wins and between zero and two losses, so those surprised me too. But I also usually run 10-round fights, so that might be a factor. I love how a fighter's history and experience really seems to matter. Like one can go on a bad run early and it will wreck their entire career (I've seen Monroe go on an 0-8 run before GAMMA cut him, then he retired at like 9-13 after losing a few local fights lol). Or how most prospects will drown if you throw them right into deep water, but if you give them a little time to develop they can hang with much tougher opponents even if their actual skill stats haven't changed much. And then those can build into amazing runs. Like when Toby Sorkin made it to 28-0 before finally taking a loss.
  3. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="WMMAA1" data-cite="WMMAA1" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44606" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Sean Morrison just became my first champion beating Jim carpenter for the Lower Middleweight championship. He is undefeated in 10 (1 was due to foster forfeiting due to injury). He was the first ever ultimate fighter. First and only ultimate ultimate and winner of the lower middleweight grand prix (where he became champ). Teo more title fights to follow and I'm loving it.</div></blockquote><p> Funny how differently things can shake out. I'm running one game in which everyone started with no pro record in 1994. Sean Morrison wound up with a career record of 8-9. Lol</p>
  4. Yup. I think the default settings produce a pretty realistic rate of stoppages due to cuts. They're rare. But when I finally managed to steal Carlos Da Guia from Alpha in an old save so I could set up Matthew Dean-Da Guia, and Da Guia lost in less than a round due to a cut without much other action, I wanted to be sure that never happened again. Hah! Yeah, there is a lot of missed fence grabbing. Ekberg is an excellent prospect. He's 40-8 with 16 total defenses over two reigns with the Sigma title in my 1994 sim game. He's fresh back from an ~18 month hiatus after back to back losses in 2014. Now age 37, I'm hoping he'll snag another win or two before calling it a career. It's also funny though how potential stars can go down in flames. Everyone started with no pro record in this game. James Foster wound up 13-8, Hassan Fezzik went 11-7, and Sean Morrison was 8-9. LOL.
  5. I made some superstar prospects with low or no draw power so I can try to guide them to the tops of their divisions and build them into big draws. Those are the only ones I write stories for. But I also populated and then modified a bunch of solid journeymen-type fighters to help provide some more mid-level competition (with decent draw power) to pull into the UFC without decimating the rosters of the other organizations. I like to make big batch edits to all the fighters in the world at the start for things like preparation time and recuperation time because I don't like having a whole lot of variety in prep/recoup time in my active fantasy world. Same on cut resistance. Obviously not realistic, but I'm always annoyed by fights ending due to cuts so I eliminate that problem. Haha. Similar reasons on the judges and refs. I haaaate robbery decisions. I like a close split or majority decision where people are divided on the winner, but flat out robberies suck. So I adjust and/or add judges to make them accurate enough that robberies are not possible in my fantasy world. With refs it's the same concept, but applied to early stoppages. So none of my refs will ever stop a fight early. I've yet to find the need to populate fighters again after the initial set in my active universe, but I modify the era settings to make sure I feel like I see enough new fighters entering the pro ranks every year. In my current era I have it set at 60 fighters per division. Unfortunately, unless I'm terribly mistaken, there is no way to force a fighter into or out of a training camp. I'd love to see such an option. Then I could make all the hot new prospects join the Maximus MMA team. Haha.

I guess in terms of setting that up it would've taken ages though...</div></blockquote><p> Absolutely. But as you said, it would've taken ages. The primary active universe had been going for ~19 years (started in the default 2001 database). I once had a simulated universe in there that went something like 109 years before it started acting very strange and I abandoned it. Lol</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="raisingtheBANNER" data-cite="raisingtheBANNER" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44604" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>It would be super interesting definitly. Although I guess Anthony Johnson would've been one. I mean he jumped from 170 to 185 to 205 and probably could've even went to HW if he put his mind to it considering how big he was. I think he was cutting down tremendously actually to make LHW toward the end of his career.</div></blockquote><p> Right? Dude's a monster. Walks around at like 250-260 I've read. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="raisingtheBANNER" data-cite="raisingtheBANNER" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44604" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Damn... so you sim a year in that save while your at work and sleeping? How many years are you into that one? And what setup did you start with?</div></blockquote><p> Indeed. It tends to sim between about 8 months and 14 months depending on how long it's running and some other factor I can't seem to identify. Sometimes it's just slower and I can't figure out why. Makes me wonder if my SSD is failing. </p><p> </p><p> I've been playing a lot since buying WMMA5 on February 3. I built custom worlds for my active and sim saves this time. The sim one started in 1994 and had ALPHA, GAMMA, and SIGMA as roughly equal high level national companies. It's currently in August of 2015 (was locked on April of 2016 when I got home <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> ) and all three companies have run nearly 700 shows apiece. The active one started in 2002 with all the default data apart from my adding some custom teams, TV networks, refs, judges, fighters, and a shiny new upstart company called "UFC" for me to control. Haha. That one is currently in April of 2006.</p>

It's definitely very fun and immersive, but man oh man does it take a long time. I spent quite a while weighing the new features in WMMA5 against my year+ worth of real life playtime on WMMA4. It was hard to let go of those saves.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="raisingtheBANNER" data-cite="raisingtheBANNER" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44604" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>True in boxing the really talented fighters always go up several weight classes along the way. But they also have smaller gaps between them.</div></blockquote><p> Indeed. <em>Much</em> smaller gaps in boxing. I think we'll need some of those mega weight jumpers like Roy Jones Jr/Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather before we see it in MMA. And that's a good point about division reputation as well.</p><p> </p><p> Argh. I returned home to find this new connection/space error wrecked another year of progress. <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  8. Iirc it's in your user preferences. But I'm at work right now so I can't check to confirm. Yeah, that's totally understandable. It's a fine line between letting the experience play out on its own and abusing the power of the editor and a save/reload system. That's the primary reason I like to run two universes. One I simply observe and let sim at night and while I'm away, and one where I create individual super fighters, write their background stories, control their careers as best I can, and basically play in god mode to shape the universe however I want. In MMA, maybe because the sport is so young, it is indeed quite a rare occurrence. But in boxing it's the norm for fighters to move up weight classes and abandon their former titles as their careers progress. Just a natural result of it being harder to cut as much weight as we age. I suspect we'll see more of that in MMA as more high-level athletes enter the big leagues at young ages and go on to have long careers. Not a big deal, just a little thing that doesn't quite fit my desired narrative.
  9. Yeah. Could be possible they'll come back before a year, but I've yet to see it. In my main game I sim day by day and save after each one just so I can back up a day and "reroll the dice" when a fighter takes a hiatus. Glad your catchweight fight worked out. I wish there was an option to have a champ vacate a title themselves instead of it being initiated by the organization. Just doesn't fit quite right with the wording "stripped of title" when my fighter abandoned the title to move up and win titles in multiple weight classes.
  10. Not sure of the coded parameters, but I've seen as short as 1 year and as long as 3 years. I wish there was an option to turn them off.
  11. After updating to the latest version, I keep getting a connection error after trying to sim a year or more at a time. The error indicates there was "not enough space" even though the drive has more than 70gb free. Any ideas?
