  1.

I'm always saddened when I walk by the places where arcades once stood. There was a sweet arcade in the mall near where I grew up...now I think it's a grocery store.

Despite the fact that we didn't have any PSN or Xbox Live, and that the PC was mostly made of MUDD back then, we gamers had a nice little community going in those arcades. When I think of the hours I spent shoulder to shoulder with other kids, pumping quarters in to the game du jour, I get a little misty-eyed for the days gone by.

Same :(:D I can still remember going down to the local mall here on a Wednesday night and paying $10 (probably around 20 nowadays, man am I getting old???) to play for 3 hours free on all games. Street Fighter 2 even though I had it at home on the snes always saw the most gameplay. There was something magical about arcades as a kid I swear :D

But then, we have some pretty awesome games today, don't we?

We do but I still don't know if it's because I was a kid that I was able to immerse myself into a 32 bit 2d game like Zelda more then I can a game like Dragon Age which has all the bells and whistles. Then again Zelda was a legendary game, probably not a fair comparison.

  2. Just finished watching the documentary "The King Of Kong"

What a great doco, for anyone that's a fan of retro gaming or even just a good documentary it's a great film!

Didn't want to start a new thread just for this so I entitled the thread like that thinking maybe this can become the thread for all video game talk.

  4. I think the arguement between Lebron and Bryant is over. Bryant pushes his team to be better.

The real arugement now is Wade vs Bryant. Bryant for sure has the edge, but the way Wade has pushed a team with no one on it has always impressed me.

But right now, Kobe for sure.

Agree with you completely there, I've been saying for years Lebron isn't even the 2nd best player in the league due to Wade. The way he plays the game is just a joy to watch.

  5. Some guys couldn't hit open shots!

I could feel the pressure in the Staples Center sitting watching from home in Australia :p I felt sorry for Rondo, Doc took him off when he was starting to get into a real flow then they looked to him to hit every big shot down the stretch.

Allen was so cold again.... oh so cold :(

  6. Sure. If Kobe can carry them to a victory they are a better team.

Lol, quoted this because I had a feeling you'd be proved wrong. Down the stretch Lakers (the better team) carried Kobe ;)

I think it is safe to say a lot of these younger players probably have no clue as to who Russell is. They grew up when Jordan was winning his titles.

I'd say most young guys would definitely know Russell, he's a basketball God. I don't think they use him or guys like Wilt for example as comparisons because the game was so different back then, it isn't really a fair comparison.

  7. Great effort from the Lakers bench, Artest and Gasol also stepping up. Lakers not looking like a one man team, I like it!

Looks like Celtics are just riding on Rondo now, if he doesn't perform in game 7 they've got no chance.

That tech foul just called on Kobe was bs.

  8. This series is proving that the Celtics are a better TEAM however the Lakers have the better player. Unless Kobe can step up his game even more than he already has the Celtics are going to win this.

If the Lakers win won't that prove they're the better team?

Laker do have the best player in the series....... but that doesn't matter. They C's have proved that just because the best player is on the opposite side (Wade, Lebron, Howard, Kobe) the C's still win, because like you said C's are the better team. The Big 4 may be old (besides Rondo) but they are a complete team with a nice bench. If the Lakers can't step up for Kobe, then this series is over.

You forgot to mention a huge factor in what makes a team great, a coach... need I say more? I remember the same argument being thrown around in the Bulls/Jordan days, my how MJ and co. proved so many wrong.

  9. what'd Miz do to piss off the WWE administration? He seems to be on a losing streak and lost his titles one after each other like with RVD. Not that I care really, but after that huge push he's had and how AWWWWEEESSSSOOOOOOMMMMMEEEEEEEE he keeps thinking he is, he certainly is on a **** list. What's next, Jericho decks him? which I'd like to see..

Same question was being asked about Kofi Kingston months back. It's WWE's way of booking, they push a guy to the upper midcard and test the waters. It's a good system imo as it gives alot of guys chances to prove themselves and makes the fans take them more seriously then jobbers. Before The Miz it was Kofi, before Kofi it was MVP and the list goes on. I don't think he's being burried, more they pushed him to see if he'd catch on and he obviously didn't as much as they wanted so now he'll move back down the card a little bit so the next Miz/Kofi/MVP can have a little run. I can make a huge list of guys that have been booked exactly the same way in the past and it was not because they were on WWE creative's **** list.

Either that or Johnny Ace and Stephanie are as bad as the IWC make out and just enjoy burying people

  10. lol okay, what I meant to say is this is like the WWE during Attitude ERA, Jordan (like Austin and D-X) started it now it's in it's cool down mode. But parity is what people want, parity makes it equal, so parity is what you get

I found that such a good comparison for some reason. In the same way the WWE went global after the Attitude era I think the NBA has grown... and just like the WWE the domestic market is down a bit but compared to most other sports is still doing very well. Jordans, or Austin's (&Rocks) come along only every so often and it's hard to replace them no matter how talented and popular the next top star is.... Lebron, Cena :p

*Has a tingling to create an NBA mod, "Shaq vs Dwight Howard - HIAC" anyone? :p*

  11. I'm not sure what is going on with Daniel Bryan following the last NXT, but I like it. He cut a good promo (and the Cm Punk and William Regal reactions were excellent) showed plenty of fire which is something that the catchphrase-heavy, merchandise-focused WWE machine seems to have largely forgotten how to do, and Michael Cole got roughed up by a vegan in street clothes.

I'm not sure I would consider him having a loose cannon gimmick, more just a guy who is done taking crap and being humble even if it means slapping around an announcer once in a while.

I came into this thread to post just about this (Just watched it). I was going to say, I still haven't played any current RW mods but from where I would have had Danielson stat wise for entertainment would see a decent boost. Acting, Charisma, Mic Skills all improved a big amount from the last promo I saw him cut  I'm more excited about his run now then I was when CM Punk in the ECW days looked like the company was behind him.

  12. Had to put this into TEW terms with some RA notes included :p
