Favourite Ever Goal

I'm sitting here watching the ITV's 50 Greatest Ever Champions League goals and like so many top __ lists it is made up pretty much of recent goals. Perhaps the most dismaying one is Alan Smith's against Roma at number 6, which seems far too high in my opinion. So it got me thinking about my favourite ever goal. I can keep it down to one, but these are mine I think... Dejan Saviecevic (Champions League Final for AC Milan vs Barcelona) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-hb3pHwOes Ryan Giggs (FA Cup Semi Final for Man U vs Arsenal) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yettxwUDL5s Marco Van Basten (Euro 88 for Holland vs USSR) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBNDlQvPYxw Roberto Carlos (France vs Brazil) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P206zhQkAA Bobby Charlton (World Cup 1996 for England vs Mexico) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLXXL36EmJg Paul Gascoigne (FA Cup Semi Final for Spurs vs Arsenal) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0LZbyccHow Paul Gascoigne (Euro '96 for England vs Scotland) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4fq0nbp6aA And of course... Serge from Kasabian (Road To Wembley, Soccer AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYF97t69Kz4&NR=1 I'm sure there are others I've forgotten but for now. I honestly can't choose between them. So what are yours?
Whenever this question crops up in conversation, I always mention these two ^. Fantastic. :)
Without a doubt. The Giggs one was so good it took a defence people were saying was the best in the country and turned fans think they were over the hill in a matter of seconds. But the truth of it is there wasn't a thing they could do about it. As soon as he got the ball I think he was destined to score. And as for the Gazza one, well, it was just Gazza. Incredible. It's such a shame about the FA Cup Final in 1991. I firmly believe had he not got injured (even though it was his own fault he got injured) he would have been one of the greatest players ever. He'd have played for Juventus, not Lazio. Or the champions of England, not the champions of Scotland. Such a shame.

The Lazio deal was already agreed - in fact, they held onto it for a year whiel Gascoigne recovered from his injury. Amazing how all the truly/potentially great players have their issues, isn't it? And then you have C. Ronaldo, who's an outstanding talent. See, he should be plagued by drink and drugs issues, but no... He's just dating Gemma Atkinson instead. Footballers today... You'd think that they wanted to stay off the front pages or something *tut* * Rooney's volley against Newcastle stands out from recent goals. Thierry Henry against... Man U? Liverpool? Hitting it on the turn, anyway. Is the QPR goal above Trevor Sinclair's overhead kick? If not - it should be. George Weah's box-to-box run deserves a mention (against Padova? Maybe...) One of my all time favourites, which never seems to get mentioned, was Chris Waddle for Bradford against Everton in the FA Cup - remarkably, on the same day as Sinclair's goal. He was running across the pitch, about forty yards from goal, the ball was booted away by the keeper and it fell to him. He hit a volley, first time, at something like 120 degrees from his direction of movement and scored. Just outstanding...

I can't stand Chris waddle 'cos he signed for Torquay Utd and was rubbish fro us. He came accross as such a prima donna. He refused to pass with his instep, instead choosing to play even his simple passes with the outside of his boot (most of which went to an opposing player anyway) my mate used to work in a local bookshop and Waddle went in there with O'neil Donaldson, my friend asked Waddle if his Penaltys had got any better! :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJCADq5FNXE You won't see many better free kicks than that. And no, I will not stop posting a link to it! EDIT: If you skip to 9 minutes, there are some pretty freakin' sweet goals here, too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIGTiZVnvBg The goals scored by other players aren't bad either, I suppose :p

Gotta love Giggs' goal against Arsenal. Pure magic! Talking of favourite goals, what's your favourite own goal? I remember Frank Sinclair passing the ball (a little too powerfully) back to Ian Walker and it went past him. Kinda hilarious :p

Cantona off the top corner. That was a class of it's own for pure ass kickery. I agree with the Roberto Carlos free kick that seemed to be going far off target, then somehow (a higher power perhaps?) swerved that dude in. Barthez, while I normally think he was as pretty bad player, had no chance. Watching him, watch the ball go in... I felt bad for him. Seedorf's goal from about half way which he just powered in like a maniac. Forget the game, but I know it was for Madrid. There are so many great goals.. it's really hard to pick just a few. Henry has scored so many beautes. So has many others. But really, any goal scored for your team that wins you the game? Top notch in my book. My favorite game of goals was Norwich vs Man U a couple years back. Even I, a Man U fan (because I'm an American, and Man U has been the only consistent team to get play over here) was amazed by how well Norwich kicked our butt!
