Damn it! How could I have forgotten to call the Main Event? I would have been wrong anyway as I would have called Dusty and Piper via DQ. Fooled me on that one there, Scott.
I gotta fool you sometimes, don't I? LOL. You're just a little rusty. You'll pick up on things soon enough I'm sure.
Eerily familiar..
If I'm gonna take, then take from one of the best, right?

Ric Flair v Bob Orton The Funks v The Brisco Brothers Wahoo McDaniel v The Assassin Jimmy Valiant and Bugsy McGraw v The Great Kabuki and Magic Dragon I have to admit, my knowledge of the period is limited at best (and even then only really McMahonland) but I'm interested in where you go with it. :)

The NWA World Heavyweight Champion The Nature Boy Ric Flair takes on Ace Cowboy Bob Orton, Jr. in a nontitle bout!: I smell something Dusty. Also In Action! Quote: #1 Contender To NWA World Tag Team Titles Tournament The Funks vs. The Brisco Brothers: You like to push the Brisco's. I hate'em, plus the Funks are badass. I see them taking the straps off of Steamboat and Youngblood. Quote: Native American Chief Wahoo McDaniel takes on The Assassin along with his manager Paul Jones: Wahoo's on a jelly roll. Thursday Week 3 April 1983
Last night's card went off without a real hitch except that Wahoo and the Assassin really didn't mesh well together. That's good to know for next time I am booking the matches. Our popularity within our home region continues to soar. Next month it will be time to branch out our surroundings and try to increase our popularity elsewhere. We've got to do it to stay alive.

The reviews are in for last night's card. 'The feedback from viewers has been great, it has drawn a lot of praise.' You can't beat that kind of review too much. Nick Bockwinkel's debut hopefully surprised a lot of people. A future match between him and Steamboat seems definitely on the horizon.

Last night's AWA Road Tour really suffered without the likes of Wahoo McDaniel, Nick Bockwinkel and Ricky Steamboat. Ah well. Like I've said many times before, the AWA won't make it.

Tonight in the WWF saw Bob Backlund successfully defend his WWF Title against Jimmy Snuka. I won't acknowledge it as a World Title since it is less than the NWA World Heavyweight Title. We have a working agreement with the AWA so that's not such a big deal. Thursday Week 4 April 1983
Last night's show was a definite disappointment on several levels. The first being that the main event wasn't as great as it should have been. No matter what happened, the fans seemed to be a little let down and that's never good for the end of the show. Perhaps putting the Freebirds/MoscaJacobs match on right before it was a mistake as the crowd seemed a little let-down.

I just hope that the tv ratings are good enough for it when it airs on Saturday.

The AWA were allowed to use Ricky Steamboat for their Road Tour show last evening and he had a successful title defense against Ken Patera in an average match. This is turning out to be a splendid read; thanks a lot for taking the time, Angel. Besides seeing myself in the role of Crockett's toadie, I think the appearance of Nick Bockwinkel in MACW is a fantastic happening. A Steamboat vs. Bock series should be gold - however, I am more interested in future plans for Bockwinkel; will there be a Flair vs. Bock series in the future? Will Flair and Bock partner up? Should be fun to follow. Ah... and I really like the Kabuki/Magic Dragon push. While I am not sure if they can get past the Briscos, with Gary Hart in that corner anything can happen.

I only hope that I can do your great, great mod justice in this diary. As far as Nick Bockwinkel goes, you may see him back around in the future but right now he is under written contract to the AWA and I got him in a trade for 3 appearances with Ric Flair. I won't say anything either way about the Kabuki/Dragon push since I don't want to give away future plans. But needless to say I do appreciate your comments and I hope you won't hesitate to comment in the future.

Special Challenge Match Nick Bockwinkel vs. Ricky Steamboat: I gotta give the first one to Bock. Quote: United States Heavyweight Title Match Greg Valentine defends against Mike Rotundo: Mike is no where near ready. Quote: The Russian Bear Ivan Koloff vs. Vinnie Valentino: ummm... SICKLES ALL AROUND! Quote: Tournament Losers Match Jimmy Valiant and Bugsy McGraw vs. The Funks: Hate McGraw Quote: Jos Leduc vs. Bob Orton, Jr.: Great card here but this is the match I'd be paying for to be sure! EDIT: Leducs on his way out of the door tho... For that reason alone, I'm changing my pic to Orton.

Special Challenge Match Nick Bockwinkel vs. Ricky Steamboat - As much as I hate to go against one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, Steamboat is a MACW mainstay -- unlike Bockwinkel. Were it on AWA turf, I'd go with Bock in a squeaker. As it is, Steamboat will get his revenge in this one. United States Heavyweight Title Match Greg Valentine defends against Mike Rotundo - Rotundo puts up a good fight, but Valentine's experience proves too much. Give Rotundo another year or two and he'll stand a much better chance. The Russian Bear Ivan Koloff vs. Vinnie Valentino - Vinnie Valentino?? Heck, Tommy Young could beat the bum! :) Tournament Losers Match Jimmy Valiant and Bugsy McGraw vs. The Funks - The Funks will be pissed after being eliminated. The clowns will take a beating as result. Jos Leduc vs. Bob Orton, Jr. - Orton is another of my all-time favs. He was, in my humble opinion, the heel Steamboat; smooth as silk in that ring... and completely believable. As the ismailite pointed out, Leduc should give a great rub to Orton on the way out the door. Hopefully it translates to a solid push for Cowboy Bob.

I'm going with Bockwinkle over Steamboat (dream matc, hoping for an A* here) Valentine over Rotundo (Valentine is one of my all-time fav's, I like Rotundo alot as well, but like D. Boon's Ghost said another year or two) Koloff beats Valentino (No-brainer) Funks over Bugsy & Jimmy (I will fight you if the Funks dont win this one :-) Orton over Leduc (same reason as others before have stated)

I love old school diaries, especially ones set around this time that take the part of a promotion other than the WWF. A lot of great wrestlers back then that can be used. Right now, nothing seems too bad, but Im going to go back and read the rest of the shows Ive missed. At the moment the only gripes are the pictures being used, but Im not of a fan of them being used in diaries in the first place, but it at least makes more sense since youre dealing with wrestlers that people might not know what they look like or who they are. The other thing is that match write ups and how they could be a little longer than saying who won the match and how. Im not sure if youre familiar with this time period, but in the event youre night it would be hard to portray a match well with the wrestlers if you havent ever seen them wrestle. The matches Ive seen arent too long, though, so maybe a few more lines per match would be sufficient (basically go over any spots of the match the crowd popped big for and stuff). If you get into matches that are 15 or even 10 minutes long, I would highly advise using longer match write ups. As for preditctions, Ill go with Steamboat over Bockwinkel because I think Steamboat would be a better win, unless you plan on having a long feud between the two then Bockwinkel winning wouldnt be bad. Valentine over Rotundo because Valentine shouldnt lose a title to Rotundo yet. Koloff simply because...it's Koloff. Funks over Bugsy and Jimmy because they are the Funks. And finally, Orton over Leduc because Orton I think was rather good and plus you could always start the whole RKO thing a decade or two early :p
