WCW Battle Bowl Sunday, November Week 4, 1993 Live from Alamo Stadium San Antonio, Texas Attendance: 30,000 Battle Bowl gets underway with video footage of the qualifiers. It shows each individual man winning his qualifying match to make it here to Battle Bowl, and then it ends with footage of the recent stare downs that the qualifiers had with the champions. The motto of Battle Bowl then appeared. Only one man can survive! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW International Heavyweight Championship Qualifying Match Ric Flair vs. Cactus Jack Cactus Jack put himself on Ric Flair’s radar a few weeks ago by jumping him from behind, and the two men have faced off in the ring a few weeks back as well. Cactus Jack doesn’t get big opportunities like this everyday, so he came out of the gate firing against Ric Flair. Flair didn’t get here by being a push over though, and he had Jack scouted, and he wrestled a technical match, even after Jack tried to turn up the intensity. Flair would get Jack into a complex hold, and Jack couldn’t find a way out. He took advantage of Flair’s strutting at one point though, and he started slugging him around the ring. He kept on top of Flair once he got the advantage, and he was just yelling at the fans as he had complete control over the Nature Boy. He then motioned that he was going to put it away, and he set Flair up for the Double Arm DDT, but Flair was able to wrap around him and roll him up, grab the tights, and get the three count on Cactus Jack. Winner: Ric Flair Match Time: 10:05 Match Rating: B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes backstage, where Tony Schiavone is standing by the Television Champion of WCW, Lord Steven Regal. Tony Schiavone Mr. Regal, over the past couple of months you have had an argument against Davey Boy Smith over who is the greatest British wrestler alive. Now tonight you will be facing him one more time, and this time the winner will face Chris Benoit for the United States Championship later in the evening. Lord Steven Regal Davey Boy, last time we met in the ring, it was I who was victorious. Everybody knows who the superior British wrestler is. There is no need for me to prove that tonight. But I will beat you again none the less. And then I will go show that upstart Chris Benoit what a real wrestler does in the ring, and the United States Championship will be heading to the UK, and you will have the only double champion in WCW standing in front of you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes to the locker room of Ric Flair, and he is shown icing down his body after taking a beating from Cactus Jack. He quickly gets back up and begins stretching again, trying to stay warm as he knows that he has a title match coming up against Rick Rude later in the night, a title shot he doesn’t intend to waste once again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW United States Championship Qualifying Match Davey Boy Smith vs. Lord Steven Regal These two great British wrestlers faced off for the second pay-per-view in a row, but this time a shot at Chris Benoit’s US Title was up for grabs. Regal tried to wrestle his European style technical match, but Davey Boy was still angry about their last meeting, and he showed Regal that he can wrestle that style as well. Once he got in control though, he turned up the tempo and smashed Regal’s head from turnbuckle to turnbuckle. He then got Regal up in a vertical suplex, and he held him straight up in the air, and the blood flowed to the head of Regal. He finally slammed him to the mat, and Davey Boy was clearly in the driver’s seat. He then got Regal up on his shoulder and drilled him with the Powerslam, but he wasn’t done yet, he wanted to inflict more pain. The camera then zoomed in on Regal, who slipped a pair of brass knuckles on. Smith got him up for the powerslam again, but this time Regal bashed the knuckles into the skull of Smith. He then threw the knucks onto the floor, and he put Smith in the Regal Stretch, and the referee called for the bell because Davey Boy was out cold, and because he was oblivious to the foreign object use. Winner: Lord Steven Regal Match Time: 11:01 Match Rating: B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match Regal grabbed his Television Championship and he headed into the ring, where he celebrated over the downed body of Davey Boy. He went way over the edge as he rubbed his title in Smith’s face, and then he acted like he just won the world title. This gave Davey Boy time to come around though, and when he got up he looked madder than he ever has. He stood behind Regal, and when he turned around he dropped his title in shock, and Davey Boy scooped him back up. He then delivered a powerslam onto the Television Championship, and Regal took one the worst beatings WCW has seen in awhile just little more than an hour before his United States Championship match with Chris Benoit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW World Tag Team Championship Qualifying Match Road Warriors vs. Hollywood Blondes Steve Austin and Brian Pillman looked more confident than most men heading into the ring against the Road Warriors, and the fared much better than most as well. With a Tag Team Title shot on the line they fought with everything they had against Hawk and Animal. They had a very good gameplan as well as they used quick strikes against the bigger men, and they kept them isolated with quick tags. They looked very impressive as they kept one of the greatest tag teams of all-time down. That didn’t last too long though, because Animal powered out of an attempt at a double suplex, then got the hot tag to Hawk, and he came in a cleaned house. He nailed a powerslam on Austin, and this left Pillman in the ring. Animal hoisted him up on his shoulders, then Hawk flew off and drilled the Doomsday Device, and that sent the Road Warriors to the title match later in the evening. Winners: The Road Warriors Match Time: 11:34 Match Rating: B+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A video appears on the screen showing the run that Sting has been on in recent weeks. It shows him running over opponents left and right as he has built up momentum heading towards tonight, and it then shows the dominance of Sid Vicious. The two powers will meet next to decide who faces off with Big Van Vader for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW World Heavyweight Championship Qualifying Match Sting vs. Sid Vicious These two men have had bad blood for months, and they both wanted to end it here tonight. Sting was fighting for a lot, because if Sid won the main event would likely be a sham as he took on his close friend. Sid started out in dominating fashion, and the fans were chanting for the Stinger with all their might. It finally started to pay off as Sid had Sting in a sleeper, and the face painted warrior began to claw back into the match. He was able to break free, then he chopped and dropkicked Sid all around the ring. He was able to get Vicious into the corner where he drilled several Stinger Splashes. On the last one though Sid caught him in a bear hug, where he held him for what seemed like an eternity. He then got confident, and he posed as he set Sting up for the Powerbomb, and he lifted him up, but Sting slipped out behind him and nailed the Scorpion Death Drop, then locked in the Scorpion Death Lock, and Vicious tapped out after a lengthy struggle. Winner: Sting Match Time: 12:33 Match Rating: A* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As Sting celebrated, the image of Harley Race and Big Van Vader appeared on the arena’s video board. Harley Race Very impressive Sting. You managed to beat Sid Vicious. But let me let you in on a secret. Sid Vicious can’t even lace Big Van Vader’s boots. You see this title, there is a reason that Vader is the World Heavyweight Champion. Vader will throw you around the ring like a chew toy. You thought Sid was strong. Sting, you haven’t seen anything yet. You know what time it is Sting? Big Van Vader IT’S VADER TIME!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The cameras go backstage, where the Road Warriors are heading back to the ring for their World Tag Team Title match against The Nasty Boys. They get each other psyched up, and as the chest bump each other they yelled out loud, then headed towards the entrance area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW World Tag Team Championship The Nasty Boys © vs. The Road Warriors These two teams are both based on brawling, but it was clear who the better brawling team was here. Saggs and Knobbs threw some mean rights on the Road Warriors, but the Warriors had an intensity that would be tough to top on this night. The one thing that the Nasty Boys did have for them is that Hawk and Animal were in their second match. They used this to their advantage and let the Road Warriors wear themselves down, and then they attacked strong. They went for dual pitstains, but both Road Warriors avoided the nasty stench, and they hit dual powerslams instead, and then the referee made a double three count, ending this title match very emphatically. Winners and New World Tag Team Champions: The Road Warriors Match Time: 10:04 Match Rating: B- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match the Road Warriors grabbed their newly won titles from ringside, and they headed straight up the turnbuckles to celebrate this huge title win. After being apart for an extended period this great team came back, and just weeks later they were back on top of the tag team scene. They celebrated very hard, because they knew after tonight they would be having people knocking on their door for a title opportunity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW United States Championship Chris Benoit © vs. Lord Steven Regal Both men came into this match with championship gold, but the bigger prize, the US Title was up for grabs in this one. Both of these men are great technical wrestlers, but Regal may have put his foot in his mouth when he said he could outwrestle Benoit. Regal had a severe limp after taking a beating from Davey Boy Smith, and he tried to wrestle his style, but an injured Regal was no match for a very fresh Chris Benoit. Regal got Benoit down once, then tried to lock in the Regal Stretch, but he was too sore to, and Benoit quickly turned it into a vicious Fujiwara Armbar, and Regal had no choice but to quickly say the words I quit. Winner and Still United States Champion: Chris Benoit Match Time: 12:49 Match Rating: B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes backstage, where Sting is standing before his huge World Title match against Big Van Vader. Sting Now is the time that I finally get my shot at regaining the World Heavyweight Championship. Vader, you have ran free in WCW for long enough. Tonight is the night that you answer to the conscious of WCW. Tonight is the night that the World Championship comes home. Tonight you are not only fighting me, you are fighting the millions of Stingers around the world. I may have had a tough match earlier, but I’ve never felt better! Vader, you better have you’re game face on, because it’s not Vader Time….It’s Showtime! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW World Heavyweight Championship Big Van Vader w/ Harley Race © vs. Sting Sting was clearly fighting an uphill battle in this match, and it wasn’t made any easier by the man at ringside, Harley Race. In the early goings Sting was striking and moving against Vader, and once as he quickly bounced off the ropes his foot was grabbed by Harley Race. The referee used some quick thinking, and instead of a quick DQ, he threw Harley Race out of the match. The action then continued one-on-one, and Vader was clearly shaken without Race out to provide him guidance. Sting splashed him in every corner, but Vader caught him by the throat and began to choke the life out of him. He used his five count to the fullest extent several times, and the referee threatened to DQ him several times. He got Sting down in the corner, then went for his Vader Bomb, but Sting rolled out of the way, and the momentum made a huge shift. Sting dropkicked Vader all over the place, then sat him up for the Scorpion Death Drop. Vader wouldn’t go down though, and he eventually set Sting up for the Powerbomb, and he got him up, but Sting grabbed Vader’s head, then came back down and DDT’d Vader right into the mat. Sting then covered Vader. 1!…2!….3! Winner and New World Heavyweight Champion: Sting Match Time: 14:13 Match Rating: A ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match the music of Sting hit, and the grabbed his World Heavyweight Championship, and he went into the crowd to celebrate. The fans hoisted him up on their shoulders, and everybody gave him a standing ovation as Big Van Vader looked on, not knowing what to make of this championship loss. Sting went all the way through the crowd, and the electric could be felt all through the 30,000 people in attendance. Every person in the crowd could now tell the story of how they saw Sting slay the mighty Big Van Vader. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WCW International Heavyweight Championship Rick Rude © vs. Ric Flair These two had the task of following that great moment, but one thing is for sure, they are capable of following any match on earth. These two men are the two premier workers on earth for a reason, and they showed why in this instant classic. The first several minutes resembled an amateur wrestling match as both men traded waist locks, and take downs, and as they faced off in the ring the fans showed their respect with a round of applause. Rude broke this though with a slap to the face of Flair. This set off something inside the Nature Boy, and he nailed Rude with a Lou Thesz Press, then pummeled him to the point that the referee had to pull Flair off of Rude. He quickly began stomping away on the body of the Champion, and Rude had to go to the outside so that he could get a breather from this assault at the hands of the Nature Boy. Rude lured Flair to the outside of the ring, and that was the biggest mistake Flair could have made. Rude took Flair down to the concrete immediately, and he slammed Flair’s head into the ring apron a number of times. He then scooped Flair up and dropped him on the floor, which is unforgiving concrete under a thin pad. Rude then threw the limp body of Flair back into the ring, and he then hit him with the ultimate insult, he locked Flair in the Figure Four Leglock. Flair got a look of panic on his face, and he almost had his shoulders lay on the mat for the three count several times, but he had the wits to lift them up. He battled in the hold for several minutes, and he was eventually able to turn over, reversing the pressure onto the legs and back of Rick Rude. Rude quickly got to the ropes, but both men were now hobbled slightly. They both beat the ten count and got up, and this match evolved into a slugfest. They were both starting to wear down, and they put their defense down and just slugged away at each other for several minutes. Flair got his patented second wind though, and he began to chop away at the chest of Rude. Rude was able to whip him into the corner at one point, but Flair flipped over the corner, then landed on the apron and headed towards the other turnbuckle. He climbed them, then looked for a double axe handle, but Rude got his fist into the gut of Flair, sending him hard into the mat. Rude controlled the action from their, but when he looked for his Rude Awakening, Flair was able to get out and roll up Rude, but only got the two count. The two men fought back up, and Flair tried to suplex Rude, but Rude landed behind him and he grabbed Flair’s head, then nailed the Rude Awakening, then pinned Flair, 1!….2!….3! Winner and Still International Heavyweight Champion: Rick Rude Match Time: 27:51 Match Rating: A* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match Rick Rude grabbed his championship, and he stood in the middle of the ring with his big gold belt a very winded man. Then all of a sudden the music of the new World Heavyweight Champion Sting hit the arena. The fans shot straight up to their feet as Sting emerged from the stage with his new title and a microphone. He headed into the ring and got right in the face of Rick Rude. Sting Congratulations Rick, you somehow managed to defend your title again. But next month we have our biggest pay-per-view event coming up, Starrcade! We both know that this place isn’t big enough for two world champions, so at Starrcade I say we have a little match. The International Heavyweight Champion Rick Rude in one corner. The World Heavyweight Champion in the other corner. One match, no disqualifications, one title! The winner will then walk out the Undisputed WCW World Heavyweight Champion! What do you have to say to this Rick? Rick Rude You’re on! Final Rating: A

WCW Month in Review for November After a month that many fans would consider mediocre, WCW made some changes, and it has seemed to turns things back in the direction that they want to head. There has been vast improvements in several areas, and the fans are starting to look at WCW in a positive light once again. With a great end of month event in Battle Bowl, with their biggest event of the year coming up in Starrcade, and with Starrcade featuring a title unification bout between Rick Rude and Sting, things are looking up for WCW. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Worker of the Month Sting Sting had about the best month that any wrestler can possibly have. He stepped into the WCW ring eight times in the month of November, and he walked out victorious on every one of those occasions. The last two were the most impressive though. With a World Heavyweight Championship shot on the line, he went one-on-one with Sid Vicious, and he came out victorious. With that he earned a title match against Big Van Vader, and he did what few have been able to do, he took Vader to the limit and beat him in the middle of the ring. Sting now has the World Heavyweight Championship in his possession, and he is looking to add an Undisputed Title reign to his resume by year's end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Match of the Month Rick Rude vs. Ric Flair Battle Bowl These two had a two month feud running, and it turned into a blood feud over the title after they attacked each other with everything they had. This match was a long time coming, and after Flair made it through Cactus Jack, it was on. They had a classic wrestling affair, and the fans were on the edge of their seats for the nearly half hour that it went on. With the International Heavyweight Championship on the line they fought with everything they had, and when it looked like Flair was going to reclaim the belt, Rick Rude drilled him with the Rude Awakening to retain his title. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Show of the Month Battle Bowl Sunday Week 4, 1993 This pay-per-view delivered what everything thought it would be, plus much more. The qualifying matches were all hotly fought battles, but it was the four title matches that made this show great. The Tag Team Titles and the World Heavyweight Championships found new homes in the Road Warriors and Sting, while Chris Benoit and Rick Rude were able to fend off challengers for their respective titles. The main event was easily the match of the evening, as Rick Rude and Ric Flair battled for nearly half an hour in an instant classic. You can expect the VHS of this event to fly off the shelves in a few months when it hits a store near you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Feud of the Month Rick Rude vs. Ric Flair This feud is a repeat winner for this award. They were the feud of the month last month, and the bad blood spilled over into November, and it took a classic back and forth wrestling match to finally bring it to an end. Many people thought that the Nature Boy would be reclaiming his Big Gold Belt, but Rick Rude showed that he is true World Championship material, and he proved not only to Flair, but the rest of the world that he is the real deal. Good show my man. Still a tad disappointed that it didn't follow typical Battlebowl rules but it would be an absolute nightmare to book. You're really lucky with the 4 main eventers you have. I would have liked to see Big Van Vader as the monster champion for a while longer but you're so lucky with the top, top level workers you have it's not all that important he has the belt. I hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle, though. But again, good show. Hope you don't mind my honest feedback.

Highlighted by feuds like the Hart and Yokozuna feud and Michaels and Savage. This month had one of the best Pay-Per-Views to date with WWF Survivor Series. This month was quite a bit more productive than last, but it was also more high-profiled. Listed below are some awards handed out for the month: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Worker of the Month Yokozuna Yokozuna has had an epic month in the World Wrestling Federation. The WWF World Heavyweight Champion has been on quite the run and has dominated week after week. His most impressive victory was over Bret "Hitman" Hart at WWF Survivor Series. But now that he has two men, Michaels and Hart, going for his gold can he keep up his mean streak? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Match of the Month Razor Ramon vs. Mr. Perfect WWF Survivor Series Sunday, Week 4 This match may have been one of the best matches over the past year, and quite possibly the greatest Cage Match of all time. A stacked card made for a hot crowd and a great show. With surprise appearances from Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, the crowd was really into it. Then came matches like Team Luger vs. Team DiBiase and Mr. Pefect vs. Razor Ramon, that brought the house down. Then the main event, pitting Bret Hart against Yokozuna for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. This match was a great way to end the show, which was a huge success. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feud of the Month For the second month in a row, Yokozuna's feud with Bret "The Hitman" Hart wins the Feud of the Month award. They battled it out for another month, a month that was full of its ups and downs for each man. In the end, Yokozuna came out on top in their match at WWF Survivor Series. With that being said, Bret "Hitman" Hart isn't going to go down that easy. Hart has already made it known that he wants that title and will stop at nothing to get it.

Schyster seemed like he may have been able to make a comeback, but Duggan shut it down. Duggan then signaled the end when he got in his Three-Point Stance and lunged at Schyster, knocking him off his feet. Duggan then pinned Schyster and got the easy pinfall. You claim to be an entertainer, but the only thing you do is put people to sleep. That is just my opinion right, Ross? Usually Bob Backlund is facing the distinct disadvantage of age. This time "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase stepped in the ring with Backlund and Backlund seemed a little bit more relaxed. Backlund didn't seem to be as aggressive and it helped him get in good offense on DiBiase. DiBiase didn't see this side of Backlund coming, which led to Backlund to dominate a good part of the match. DiBiase then took advantage with some tricky reversals. DiBiase started to beat Backlund down with some vigor, but Backlund regained the advantage by knocking "The Million Dollar Man" out of the ring. Eventually Backlund was able to get DiBiase back in the ring. Backlund tried to lock in the Crossface Chickenwing, but DiBiase reversed it. That reversal just so happened to be into the Million Dollar Dream. Backlund refused to tap out, which meant either he was going to escape or he was going to pass out. Unfortunately, the latter one is what happened and DiBiase got the win. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan Explosive...explosive, McMahon? That match will surely bring this place down. Two men with unique styles of wrestling and two unique personalities. When two guys like that clash in the ring you know it is going to be a good match. Shawn Michaels, with that flashy and athletic style going against The Undertaker who possesses as style that is so unique that the only people who can defeat him, do it out of luck. The two men traded the upper-hand for the whole match, which got the Cleveland crowd into it. The Undertaker got the first real advantage of the match, which happened pretty deep into the contest. The Undertaker used his and threw Michaels around the ring quite a bit. The Undertaker looked like he was going to end the match with a Tombstone Piledriver, but Michaels reversed it. Michaels then took the advantage from The Undertaker and ran with it. "The Heartbreak Kid" started to dominate the big man with some quick offense. Michaels took it up top and dropped an elbow on The Undertaker's chest. Michaels then started to tune up the band for some Sweet Chin Music... Diesel came sliding in from the side and went to attack The Undertaker, his foe. "The Heartbreak Kid" made the decision to help out his current opponent and he nailed the Sweet Chin Music on Diesel, knocking Diesel out cold. Shawn Michaels then started to pump up the crowd. Michaels started to dance around and began to taunt the lifeless body of Diesel. The referee seemed to call it a disqualification in the favor of The Undertaker until... Yokozuna ran in from behind Shawn Michaels and started to taunt him. At this moment The Undertaker has risen back to his feet. The Undertaker sees Yokozuna behind him and he has to make the same decision "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels had to make. The Undertaker quickly made his decision and helped out Michaels by clotheslining Yokozuna to the outside. The referee then made his decision for the match a draw due to double disqualification, which was a great ending to a great match. WCW Saturday Night Saturday, December Week 1, 1993 Taped at Rock Hills Coliseum Rock Hills, South Carolina Attendance: 5,000 A video begins to play highlighting the fast paced action of last weekend’s pay-per-view event, Halloween Havoc. It then shows Sting’s big World Heavyweight Championship title victory, then it shows Rick Rude retaining his International Heavyweight Championship. It then shows in detail where Sting challenged Rick Rude to a unification match for the biggest event of the year, Starrcade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Saturday Night gets underway with the music of Rick Rude hitting the arena. He walks to the ring with a big smile on his face. He’s in his wrestling gear, and he has the Big Gold Belt around his waist. When he enters the ring he demands that the ring announcer give him the microphone. Rick Rude Sting, you had the audacity to ask me if we would like to have a unification match at Starrcade. Of course I’m going to accept this request. As long as WCW has two World championships, there will be chatter as to who is the real champion. Of course I know that I am, but people are telling me that you are. So at Starrcade, we will settle this in the middle of the ring. And when I say we will settle it, I mean that I will become the first ever Undisputed WCW World Heavyweight Champion! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tom Zenk vs. Rick Rude Tom Zenk came out knowing that if he could upset the International Heavyweight Champion he would become a premier player in WCW. Well, let’s just say that didn’t happen. He came out swinging on Rude, but that just made him angry and he exploded at Zenk. He took him down with a huge clothesline, then forced him back up, only to take him down with another clothesline. He then posed some, forced Zenk back up and nailed the Rude Awakening for the impressive victory. Winner: Rick Rude Match Time: 7:58 Match Rating: C+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match the music of Sting hit, and the new World Heavyweight Champion made his way to ringside, and it looked like he had something on his mind. Before he could start talking though Harley Race and the former World Champion Big Van Vader made their way down to the ring as well. Harley Race Sting, hold on just a second. I know you were coming out to have a little chat with Rick Rude, but you’ve got more important things at hand. As you probably knew, Big Van Vader has a return match for the World Title coming his way. And Vader has informed the Championship Committee that it will be tonight. So Sting, I recommend that you go get ready, because you’re putting that belt up in the main event! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes to Eric Bischoff, who is extending his match making muscles, and letting everybody know what he has thought of. Eric Bischoff My name is Eric Bischoff, and for the last couple of months you’ve seen me week in and week out representing the Championship Committee. Well I’ve built up their trust, and now I have been given new power within WCW. I have been given the power to make matches if there is time to be filled in the show. And tonight there is in fact time to be filled. So that is why up next I have made a great match. It will be Ron Simmons taking on Sid Vicious! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ron Simmons vs. Sid Vicious These two men are two huge bruisers, and this match showed off their brawling styles very well. They went right after each others throats, and neither man could gain an advantage for the first several minutes. Vicious was eventually able to gain the upper hand with his massive strength, and he shoved the former World Champion around the ring for several minutes. The crowd got behind Simmons, and he began to fight back with their help. He hit several football like tackles on Vicious, then went for the Dominator, but Sid blocked it, and he quickly got Simmons up with his Powerbomb to get the victory. Winner: Sid Vicious Match Time: 11:03 Match Rating: B+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes backstage, and Ric Flair is looking into the camera, and he doesn’t looked too pleased that he is out of the title hunt for the first time in a long time. Ric Flair I’m going to be honest, I was beaten by Rick Rude with the title on the line two straight pay-per-views in a row. Maybe I let my guard down since I thought I could beat him, maybe I let the fact that I’m Ric Flair go to my head. I just know that I lost twice in a row. But that just rededicated me to my one true love, professional wrestling. I’m going to start training harder than I ever have. I’m going to regain my edge, and most importantly, I’m going to get back in the title hunt, I promise you this. And the road to Ric Flair becoming a World Champion again begins tonight! WOOOO! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ric Flair vs. Fit Finlay Finlay has been showing that he can in fact fight over the past couple of weeks in WCW, but Ric Flair showed why he is considered one of the best of all time. He got Finlay down and started working on his legs, knowing that he is just one Figure Four away from victory at all times. Finlay put up a decent fight, but he wasn’t much of a match for a very angry Ric Flair. Flair hit a knee breaker, then two straight chop blocks. He then passed up the strutting and went straight into the Figure Four, and Finlay had no choice but to tap out. People didn’t know what to expect out of the short in stature Dean Malenko, but he showed them when he and Benoit traded a couple minutes long technical showcase. They both went for takedowns, but they would pop right back up. They then traded seven or eight pinfall attempts, but Malenko turned the tide with a double underhook powerbomb, then he looked for his Texas Cloverleaf, but Benoit kicked him away, avoided a clothesline and drilled the Dragon Suplex to get the win. Diamond Dallas Page Congratulations Chris, you beat a no named half-pint. Don’t forget Chris, you’ve never beaten me, and guess what, you never will. Don’t you forget that Chris. Oh, and one other thing, I have a match tomorrow night on Main Event, and if I win, then I get a United States Championship match at Starrcade, so you might want to watch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ World Heavyweight Championship Sting © vs. Big Van Vader w/ Harley Race These two had a very physical battle just a few days ago, and it carried over right into Saturday Night. They went right at each other, and every time that Sting would attack Vader, the fans would cheer. Then every time Vader would hit Sting, the fans would boo. This went back and forth for several minutes, but then Vader took control. He threw Sting around the ring like he was a rag doll, and things were looking like Vader would be taking his championship back. He propped Sting up in the corner, then charged and hit him with an avalanche. Sting was down, and Vader decided it was time for the Vader Bomb. He went to the second rope and bounced, but Sting was able to move, and Vader hit canvas. Sting waited for him to rise, then he hit several Stinger Slashes, then dropped him with the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then looked around the crowd, grabbed the tree trunk like legs of Vader, and somehow locked in the Scorpion Death Lock, and after a long struggle Vader was forced to give up. Winner: Sting Match Time: 16:41 Match Rating: B+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match Sting looked like he was drained, and he grabbed his title and celebrated his victory on the second turnbuckle. Then all of a sudden Rick Rude appeared in the ring, and he took Sting down from behind with his championship. Rude then grabbed Sting’s title, and raised it along with his high in the air, giving everybody a vision that Rick Rude could be the Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion of WCW at Starrcade.
