TheEdgeOfReason
Anybody ever play this game? I absolutely love it. It's an expansion of Kudos which is like a text based Sims game. It is really good. You form a band by auditioning for members then write songs, listen to cd's for inspiration play local gigs, record demos all that. You then need to buy better equipment as you band gets more skilled. You need to rehearse before shows stuff like that. Trying to make the big time. Great game. Here is the link: http://www.positech.co.uk/rocklegend/index.html. You get a one hour free trial. I highly reccomend at least trying out the trial.
Blasphemywebleed
Yeah I have it :D I suck so badly at it though so if you can give me any tips its greatly appreciated. Edit: I can have my band writing kick ass songs, and the songs all have high ating but my band play together for around 6 months and then start hating each other. I only have it a few days. I think though that socialiser's might be your best route maybe with optimistic people as well. That might keep your band together. Try giving them days off fairly regularly too. That might help. Thomnipotent
The game's not bad at all; being a music student, though, with some business classes under my belt, I wish it were fleshed out a bit more. It's a lot of fun for what it is, though.
Jonfun
I really would like a game like this, I have tried them all but I can't get into them without stuff like singles charts etc. I would love Adam to make a music version of TEW. Manage a small record company trying to make them big etc. Then make a movie version, then tv and maybe then combine them all. Even if it was fake like Cornellverse, because mods would be made. WrestleManiac
Rock Legend was fun for five minutes. Would have been a classic with a bit more depth, but for what it is, it's ok. A GD version would rock, as well as the suggestion by Jonfun. I think there was a TV based one on pc a while ago. I remember seeing it on the £1.99 games section in GAME. It had Sims style graphics. I never played it, but does anyone know what it was? if it was any good?

Jonfun
The movies is a great game not that in depth. Hollywood Mogul is ok, but i would like to start as a small firm with straight to DVD films and try to build up. You can't do that with that. There is a big gap in the market for a decent music, TV and movie games. TEW engine with those would be amazing.
TheEdgeOfReason
I've decided that the game span is too short. It's a great game but I don't understand why it's limited to five years of game time. It would be so much better if it was limit less or much longer like 20 or 25 years. TheEdgeOfReason
Blasphemywebleed, can you help me out? I bought Kudos and Kudos - Rock Legend in a double package and now I don't know how to get my hands on the full version of the game. I have the codes but no way to download the game. I have emailed Cliff(The maker of the game) so I guess I'll need to wait until he emails me back.
Frank_Vest
I have played this! You need to make sure you buy t-shirts to sell as soon as you can afford them, also play all the benfit gigs you can in the begining.

One of the first settings is Game length in years so theoretically you can change it (but obviously I haven't tried it yet). Quoted from Cliff:
[One thing I am making easy to change in KRL, is all those little variables that affect game balance, difficulty etc. So you will not have to pester me to tweak the frequency of stuff, or to make certain things more profitable etc etc. Instead of the fairly cryptic nature of the Kudos config files, the new one looks like this: Code: Select all //what fraction of normal merchandise sales you achieve at a charity gig RS_CHARITY_GIG_MULTIPLIER = 0.5 //number of 'free' songs you start the game with RS_INITIAL_SONGS = 3 //beyond this level of tiredness, musicians will not contribute anything to PR events, RS_PUBLICITY_TOOTIRED = 0.51 etc. Plus, there are tons more numbers to tweak in the config file than kudos had. There are currently 435 lines in the file, and probably at least 120 variables to fiddle with, every one of which is commented
so it should work.
