Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Wednesday, Week 1, April 1983 McAlister Field House Charleston, South Carolina Attendance: 5,000 vs. The Assassin vs. Jimmy Valiant The show kicked off with #1 Paul Jones leading the Assassin down to the ring and then the crowd cheered as the Boy From New York City Jimmy "The Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant came down to the ring. The Assassin went right after Valiant when Valiant got into the ring, knocking him into the turnbuckles and going for a hip toss but Valiant reversed it! Valiant played to the crowd some during this match but it was mostly a showcase match to show off the Boogie Woogie Man and get the crowd ready. Valiant dropped on the Assassin with a Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop and got the pinfall victory! Winner: Jimmy Valiant Match Time: 6:14 Match Rating: C+ ------ The focus turns down to the podium with Bob Caudle and David Crockett. Bob Caudle A big win for the Boogie Woogie Man there, David. David Crockett Indeed, Bob. And he may be in the hunt right now for a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Title. As David talks, out walks Ric Flair to the podium with the NWA World Heavyweight Title belt around his waist. Ric Flair Did I hear someone mention the NWA World Heavyweight Title? Whooo. You must be talking about the man who is custom made from head to toe the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Whooo. Bob Caudle, David Crockett, you all know that from start to finish Ric Flair has torn down the house in every building in the United States today. Whooo. It doesn't matter if you're up in Chicago, down in Atlanta or right here in Charleston, South Carolina there is only one NWA World Champion and he's standing right in front of you. Roddy Piper, tonight you get the shot to see what it's like to live the lifestyle of Ric Flair. If you can step into the ring and beat me for this belt tonight then just maybe you'll be able to afford a custom made suit instead of that skirt you wear now. Maybe you'll be able to fly in leer jets, ride in long stretch limousines or style and profile even half as much as the Nature Boy. But everyone here in Charleston knows that's a pipe dream. You have about as much chance of that happening as Charleston does of becoming a major city like Charlotte. It's never gonna happen. Whoooo. And to speak of the man who just got a win in the ring: Jimmy Valiant? Don't even insult me to speak of him in my presence again, pal. He's just not in my league. Whooo. Bob Caudle And that's your World Champion. ------ vs. House of Humperdink vs. Abe Jacobs and Angelo Mosca, Jr. Jacobs and Mosca, Jr. were already in the ring when Sir Oliver Humperdink brought his team down to the ring. The veteran Jacobs started things off with Kelly Kiniski and gave the team the only short advantage they would see of the night. The crowd really didn't care for this one. It was dominated by the House of Humperdink, much to the happiness of Sir Oliver at ringside. The One Man Gang finished off Mosca, Jr. following a Front Suplex. Winners: The House of Humperdink Match Time: 6:14 Match Rating: E+ ------ The camera focuses down at the podium again. Bob Caudle A big win for the House of Humperdink, David. We are joined down here at ringside by Gary Hart and Masa Fuchi. Gary, your man has a match tonight against Mark Fleming. Gary Hart Bob Caudle, if you please, can shut your mouth for just a moment so that I can talk. That's what you brought me down here to do, right? Everyone knows that there isn't a man here in the United States that can take care of any member of Gary Hart International. Men like the Great Kabuki, Magic Dragon and, of course, Masa Fuchi. That is why I decided that beginning tonight after each and every victory for Masa Fuchi I will be lighting up a victory cigar to celebrate. Gary pulls one out, showing it to the camera and to Bob Caudle. Gary Hart That's a cuban cigar, the best. And just to show how confident I am in tonight's win I am going to go ahead and light this up and Masa Fuchi is going to head to the ring and he'll be done with his opponent before I am done with this cigar. Gary motioned Fuchi to the ring and began lighting up the cigar. ------ vs. Mark Fleming vs. Masa Fuchi Another match that the crowd didn't seem to care for either way. Though they definitely booed Gary Hart at ringside as he smoked the cigar. Fleming used some good technical holds to keep Fuchi at bay but Fuchi fought his way back into the match and got the pinfall using a Small Package. Winner: Masa Fuchi Match Time: 6:04 Match Rating: E ------ A videotape began to play showing Tony Schiavone in front of a generic screen. Tony Schiavone Hello everyone. I'm Tony Schiavone and my guest at this time is none other than Wahoo McDaniel. Wahoo, it's good to have you here. Wahoo McDaniel It's good to be here, Tony. Tony Schiavone Coming soon, you are going to have to face a man who many see as a bloodthirsty animal, a savage in Jos Leduc. Have you got any thoughts heading into your match with him at WrestleWar '83? Wahoo McDaniel I'll tell you, Tony, I've faced many men in my career. A lot of them have been considered bloodthirsty or evil, men who would do anything to win. Jos Leduc is a great athlete though and I am not taking him lightly. At WrestleWar, though, it is going to be a first step toward my shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Everyone in this business wants that belt. Right now, Ric Flair has it but soon it just may be coming to the indian. ------ vs. Ivan Koloff vs. Sweet Brown Sugar The masked Sweet Brown Sugar was already in the ring when Ivan Koloff came out to boos from the crowd. Koloff slid into the ring and took the microphone. Ivan Koloff Everyone please rise to their feet and show their respect to the playing of Russian National Anthem! Koloff saluted as the anthem began to play to boos from the crowd. Koloff stood with his back turned toward Sweet Brown Sugar. That proved to be a mistake as Sugar quickly rolled him up from behind and the bell sounded... 1... 2... KICKOUT! Koloff had definitely been taken by surprise by that. Sweet Brown Sugar hit a dropkick that sent Koloff sliding out of the ring. The surprised crowd began to cheer for Sweet Brown Sugar. Once Koloff slid back into the ring, though, Sweet Brown Sugar was caught and Koloff dominated the rest of the match. Koloff looked really good during this match as he focused on the back of Sweet Brown Sugar. Koloff lifted Sweet Brown Sugar into the Inverted Backbreaker, getting the submission victory. Winner: Ivan Koloff Match Time: 6:06 Match Rating: D ------ The focus turned down to the podium where Roddy Piper could be seen standing between David Crockett and Bob Caudle. Roddy Piper Heh. You know, I heard Ric Flair come out here earlier and talk bad about my clothes. You think I dress badly, Bob? It doesn't really matter what you think right now, does it? These people like the way I dress. They like my kilt. Heh. Ric Flair, I wouldn't live near you if they paid me to do it. But I will take one thing from you. I'm gonna take that gold belt. And I'm gonna do it right now! ------ vs. NWA World Heavyweight Title Match Ric Flair vs. Roddy Piper Piper went down to the ring and waited for the entrance of Ric Flair. Flair came out in all his splendor and then slid into the ring, handing referee Randy Anderson the NWA World Title belt and then the bell sounded. This match began as a brawl with Piper and Flair exchanging punches and chops. Piper started getting the better of it and Flair rolled out of the ring quickly. But Piper gave chase! Flair circled around the ring with Piper hot on his tail! Piper stopped and ducked down slightly as Flair came around and Piper caught Flair with a clothesline when he came around that side! The Hot Rod smiled as he tossed Flair into the ring and slid inside himself. He hit Flair with a vertical suplex and floated over for a pinfall. 1...2...kickout! Flair kicked out of the suplex and Piper pulled him back up, leading him over to the corner where Flair poked him in the eyes! The Nature Boy pulled Piper in the corner and began hard chops against his chest again and again, reddening the chest of Roddy Piper. Then Flair tripped him up and began to work on the knee. He stomped on the right knee of the Hot Rod, bringing it to the ropes and leaping down on top of it! The crowd booed Flair as he banged Piper's knee against the ringpost! Piper looked in a lot of pain! Flair came back in and gave a little strut before he pulled Piper into a Figure 4 Leglock in the center of the ring! Piper's eyes went wide as Flair worked the hold, hurting Piper's knees more and more! Piper lasted as long as he could before he just had to give up. Winner: Ric Flair Match Time: 7:31 Match Rating: C+ Following the match, Randy Anderson worked to break the hold and it took Flair several seconds to do so. But when he did he was rewarded with holding the NWA World Heavyweight Title up for the fans to see and boo him. Flair gave a strut in the center of the ring to boos from the crowd as the show went off the air. Overall Rating: C TV Rating: .68

D.O.T.T.: Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling -Jim Crockett, Jr. was not very happy about the last show. The fans in attendance and at home did not seem very pleased. -A positive is that the show went up from the first half hour to the second. It had a .64 first half hour and a .71 second half hour. -The show also made money, which brings Jim Crockett, Jr. to several more thoughts. -Within 2 years, the company must have never gone into debt, more importantly it must have made money within two years. -Also, hiring undertrained wrestlers is something Vince McMahon and the WWF would do. Therefore, we are only looking for wrestlers with high basics. -Speaking of signings, Jim Crockett, Jr. has made several signings for Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling this week, including: The Rock and Roll Express The Midnight Express(Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey) w/their manager Jim Cornette Porkchop Cash Arn Anderson And a mystery team that will debut this week on Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. -Several superstars rejected negotiations with MACW as well: J.J. Dillon Ole Anderson Barry Windham -And Ricky Steamboat signed with Maple Leaf Wrestling. -At the end of the month, there is going to be a meeting of the NWA Board of Directors concerning Vince McMahon and the WWF so stay tuned for that. -The WWF has signed off guys like Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura and Michael Hayes. -Roddy Piper was contacted by the WWF, asking him if he wants a job there. He decided to take it.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Wednesday, Week 2, April 1983 John Kresse Arena Charleston, South Carolina Attendance: 5,000 vs. Ivan Koloff vs. Vinnie Valentino The show kicks off with the Russian Bear walking down to the ring. He looks toward Valentino and Valentino quickly rolls out of the ring before Koloff takes a microphone. Ivan Koloff Everyone in attendance and watching at home, please rise and show your respect for Russian National Anthem! Koloff turned and saluted as the music was played and it actually got through to the finish this time before the bell sounded and Valetino creeped back into the ring. Koloff looked very good in this match, dominating the smaller Valentino. He focused his attack on the back, using backbreakers and dropping elbows onto the back of Valentino. The Russian Bear picked up Vinnie and locked in the Bear Hug, squeezing the life out of Valentino and getting the submission victory. Winner: Ivan Koloff Match Time: 4:51 Match Rating: D ------ vs. Mystery Team vs. Rufus R. Jones and Porkchop Cash Rufus and Porkchop stood in the ring, talking to referee Tommy Young as they waited to see exactly who their mystery opponents will be. The crowd in Charleston were stunned when music began to play. The deep strums of an electric guitar... 'I AM IRON MAN!!!' Rufus and Porkchop's eyes went wide as Paul Ellering led the Road Warriors from the back wearing the spiked shoulderpads with their faces painted up! Ellering pointed toward the ring and the Road Warriors charged! They slid in under the bottom rope and went right to work on both Rufus and Porkchop with forearm shots! Animal whipped Rufus into the ropes and bounced off the ropes himself, nailing Rufus with a flying shoulderblock! Rufus rolled out of the ring as Animal caught a charging Porkchop and lifted him up high in a military press slam fashion! He pumped three times before slamming Porkchop to the mat and beat on his chest. Animal tagged in Hawk as Ellering put the thumbs down outside the ring. Animal lifted Porkchop onto his shoulders as Hawk climbed the turnbuckles...DOOMSDAY DEVICE!!! Porkchop hit the mat hard and Hawk made the quick cover as Animal took out Rufus: 1...2...3! Winners: The Road Warriors Match Time: 2:14 Match Rating: D+ Following the win, Paul Ellering led the Road Warriors over to the podium where Tony Schiavone was standing. Tony Schiavone Paul Ellering, an impressive debut here tonight for your tag team: The Road Warriors. Paul Ellering Tony, you just stand there and hold the microphone for me and keep your idiotic comments to yourself, alright? Of course it was an impressive debut by my Road Warriors. Take a look at them. You can't match the strength of Animal and the speed of Hawk and the intelligence of yours truly Precious Paul Ellering. We don't have too much to say here tonight. I think we let our actions in the ring do the talking for us. But I just want to put Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood on notice that we are coming for those NWA World Tag Team Titles you have. As a matter of fact, we have a contract to face you at WrestleWar at the end of the month if you're men enough to sign on the dotted line. Come on gentlemen. Tony Schiavone What a bombshell. The Road Warriors want to challenge Steamboat and Youngblood? ------ vs. Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title Match Dory Funk, Jr. vs. Mike Rotundo The first of two title matches this evening has Dory Funk, Jr. putting his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title on the line against 'Iron' Mike Rotundo. These two did not click in the ring for this match and it hurt the outcome to be sure. Dory Funk kept the lead during most of the match, showing Rotundo the ropes here as the veteran is apt to do. The crowd cheered for Rotundo, though didn't seem to care very much about this match at all. Rotundo reversed a Piledriver attempt by Dory Funk, Jr. and then lifted him up in the Airplane Spin, bringing him down hard to the mat and made the cover: 1...2..3! We have a NEW Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion! Winner: Mike Rotundo Match Time: 5:38 Match Rating: D- ------ The attention turns down to the podium with Bob Caudle and David Crockett. Bob Caudle Congratulations to Mike Rotundo for winning the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title in quite an upset over Dory Funk, Jr! And speaking of titles, our guest at this time is none other than the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. Ric, we all know that Jimmy Valiant was none too pleased about the comments you made about him last week. But this week you have other fish to fry in taking on Wahoo McDaniel. Ric Flair First of all, I'll tell you what, Jimmy. I have an opening at WrestleWar and as the Champ I can take on whoever I want. If you want a shot at having the big house Whooo on the big side of town I'll give you that shot at WrestleWar. Ric Flair vs. Jimmy Valiant, almost a night off for the Nature Boy. Whooo. As far as tonight goes, Wahoo McDaniel, you and I have travelled together for many years. We've fought against each other and we've fought side by side. I've got a lot of respect for you as an athlete and as a person. With that being said, though, tonight you are stepping inside the ring with the greatest Champion of all time. Forget Nick Bockwinkel. Forget Bob Backlund. Forget all the other names that are out there because they don't matter. What matters is being the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and that's what I am and that's where I intend to stay, big man. I've earned this belt. I've bled, sweat and paid the price for this belt. You're not going to take it away from me tonight or ever, Wahoo McDaniel. Because tonight you're going to learn that whether you love me or whether you hate me I am simply the best thing going today. Whooo! ------ vs. Dick Slater vs. Jimmy Valiant The Boogie Woogie Man had a real spring to his step coming down to the ring for this match after learning that he will be taking on Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Title at WrestleWar! But Slater knew this would be a real feather in his cap to beat the number one contender. Slater started off with the power moves on Valiant, using the ropes to choke him and generally holding the advantage for the opening minutes before Valiant made his comeback and finished off the match with the Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop and a pinfall on the veteran. Winner: Jimmy Valiant Match Time: 4:58 Match Rating: C ------ The focus returned to the podium where Tony Schiavone was standing by with Gary Hart and Masa Fuchi. Tony Schiavone Good evening wrestling fans, I'm Tony Schiavone along with Playboy Gary Hart and Masa Fuchi. Gary, your man is looking to get on a bit of a winning streak here in Mid-Atlantic after last week's victory over Mark Fleming. Tonight, he takes on Angelo Mosca, Jr. Gary Hart You know, they call him the Son of King Kong. Well, he's going to need King Kong in order to defeat my man here tonight. And even then King Kong would be too afraid to take on Masa Fuchi. Never before in the history of professional wrestling will an athlete climb to the top as quickly as this young man right here. Masa Fuchi has been to the dojos. He's trained with the best and he will continue to show it time and time again inside the ring. And soon it will be time for another victory cigar, Tony. ------ vs. Masa Fuchi vs. Angelo Mosca, Jr. Gary Hart accompanied Fuchi to the ring for this encounter with Angelo Mosca, Jr. The crowd did not seem to care either way for this bout but tried to get behind Mosca. But it appears that Mosca barely even showed up as it didn't take long for Fuchi to take him out. Fuchi hit a Backdrop Suplex and got the pinfall victory. Winner: Masa Fuchi Match Time: 3:35 Match Rating: E Gary Hart climbed into the ring and lit up his post-match cigar to real boos from the crowd. Flair took off his robe and gave the belt to referee Tommy Young who held it up for the world to see before the bell sounded for this epic title bout. The match began with a slow pace, both wrestlers feeling each other out with headlocks and some chain wrestling before a chop-fest ensued in one of the corners with Wahoo coming out on top and sending Flair flopping down on his face! The crowd cheered as Wahoo dropped Flair with a suplex. He waited for Flair to get back up and nailed him with a shoulder tackle! He made the cover and got a two count! Wahoo whipped Flair into the corner and Flair flipped over, landing on the apron! Wahoo moved toward Flair but got distracted as Jos Leduc slid into the ring! Referee Tommy Young tried to hold Leduc back and Flair reached into his trunks, revealing a pair of brass knuckles! He jumped back onto the mat and turned Wahoo around, cracking him in the face with those knucks! Leduc slid out of the ring as Flair rolled Wahoo into a small package! 1... 2... 3!!! Winner: Ric Flair Match Time: 7:40 Match Rating: B- Flair and Leduc decided to put the boots to Wahoo while he was still in the ring! The fans booed as Leduc set Wahoo in the Piledriver position, lifting him up with Flair grabbing Wahoo's feet, holding them as the crowd cheered when Jimmy Valiant came running down! He pulled Wahoo back down and then went after Flair! Wahoo dropped Leduc with a back body drop and it was a brawl between all four men as the show went off the air! These two men didn't seem to like each other and it showed in this match! Funk took the advantage early in the match, focusing in on the neck and back of the American Dream. He hit a running Kneelift and made the cover: 1...2...kickout! The American Dream somehow kicked out. Funk continued with the advantage, locking in a reverse chinlock on the Dream as Dusty fought against it. The crowd tried to get Dusty back into the match, cheering him on as he fought back, slamming several elbows into Funk's chest. Dusty kicked Funk in the gut and pulled him in, lifting him up in a high vertical suplex. He held Funk up for several seconds before dropping him to the mat. The crowd cheered the Dream as he pulled Funk back up and began jabbing at him again and again, doing a little flip, flop and fly before hitting a Bionic Elbow that dropped Funk! He bounced off the ropes and dropped another elbow before making a cover: 1... 2... DING DING DING!!! Referee Tommy Young's hand doesn't make it down for a 3 count as the bell sounds, signaling the time limit has expired! Winner: Time Limit Draw Match Time: 10:00 Match Rating: B+ Tony Schiavone came down to ringside after Terry Funk left, stepping to Dusty Rhodes. Tony Schiavone Good evening wrestling fans! I'm here with the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Dusty, in case you hadn't heard you have a match coming up at Wrestlewar against the returning Harley Race. Your thoughts going into this match? Dusty Rhodes Well, listen here, Tony Schiavone, you know that the American Dream is ready to take on any comers and that includes a returning Harley Race. Harley, you may call yourself a King but at Wrestlewar you're gonna look like a pauper. There is no one here better than the American Dream and at Wrestlewar I'm gonna prove it, daddy! ------ vs. NWA World Tag Team Titles Match Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood vs. The House of Humperdink This is a big shot and opportunity for the One Man Gang and Kelly Kiniski, going after those NWA World Tag Team Titles! The One Man Gang and Jay Youngblood started the match and the Gang looked good inside the ring to begin things much to the happiness of Sir Oliver Humperdink at ringside. The Gang tagged in Kiniski and Youngblood reversed a hiptoss, tagging out to the Dragon! Steamboat came in and dominated the match from here on out, really looking good inside the ring against Kiniski. The Dragon slipped up behind Kiniski and locked on the Double Chicken Wing! Jay Youngblood came in and stopped the advances of the One Man Gang and Kiniski had no choice but to submit! Winners: Steamboat and Youngblood Match Time: 5:36 Match Rating: C Following the match, Paul Ellering led his Road Warriors down toward the ring while Steamboat still had the Double Chicken Wing on! The Warriors hit Steamboat from behind, knocking him and Kiniski to the mat and then turned their attention to Jay Youngblood! Animal dropped Youngblood with a powerslam and while Paul Ellering directed things he lifted Youngblood up and Hawk came off with that Flying Clothesline off the top, the Doomsday Device! The crowd booed the Road Warriors as they celebrated inside the ring. ------ The attention turned down to the podium where Jim Cornette led out Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey. Jim Cornette Everyone say hello to the newest and best tag team here in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. You have Beautiful Bobby Eaton and the Loverboy Dennis Condrey! At Wrestlewar, we are going to be making our in-ring debuts here against another new tag team in the Rock and Roll Express. Rock and Rollers, you better get ready to lose in your debut because there's no way that these two men are ever going to lose under my tutelage. My momma always told me that I could be somebody in whatever I chose to do and starting at Wrestlewar I'm gonna prove my momma right! ------ vs. Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title Match Mike Rotundo vs. Ken Timbs Rotundo just won the title last week and he already has a defense here against Ken Timbs. The crowd didn't really care for this match after the quality of matches they had already seen. Rotundo really seemed to be improving week after week here and dominated the match against Timbs, finishing him off with an Airplane Spin. Winner: Mike Rotundo Match Time: 7:56 Match Rating: E ------ The focus turned down to the podium where Ric Flair was standing. Ric Flair Coming up in a little over a week, Jimmy Valiant, you're gonna walk that aisle against the man who styles and profiles each and every night in the ring. You've got to ask yourself, are you ready? Are you ready to step into the ring with the NWA World Heavyweight Champ? Are you ready to walk that aisle and try to become the man. Valiant, you're no Ricky Steamboat. You're not Dusty Rhodes and you're not Harley Race. You are just a speed bump on the road of the Nature Boy. Whoooo. And when all is said and done, the smoke is cleared, the dust is settled, this belt is going to remain around the waist of the true NWA World Champion Ric Flair. Whooo. ------ vs. Ric Flair, Jos Leduc and Greg Valentine vs. Jimmy Valiant, Wahoo McDaniel and Tommy Rich 6 man tag action in our main event as the Nature Boy, the Canadian Wildman and the Hammer take on the Boogie Woogie Man, the Native American and the Wildfire. It was learned during this match that Greg Valentine will be defending the United States Heavyweight Title against Tommy Rich at Wrestlewar '83. The match started off with a pier 6 brawl until things calmed down and Wahoo played the face-in-peril with each member of the heel team taking advantage of him and focusing on different body parts to wear Wahoo down. The Native American fought back, though with Leduc in the ring and was able to make the tag to the Boogie Woogie Man and Flair was tagged in as well! Flair begged off and tried to quickly exit the ring but was grabbed by Valiant! The Boogie Woogie Man laid into Flair with rights and lefts and dropped him with a body slam! He made a cover but it was broken up by Greg Valentine. This ignited another pier sixer! Referee Tommy Young tried to gain control inside the ring and while he was distracted someone sneaked up behind Valiant! Valiant turned...SPINEBUSTER!!! Valiant was dropped by Arn Anderson with a Spinebuster and Flair rolled him in a small package! 1... 2... 3!!! Winners: Ric Flair, Jos Leduc and Greg Valentine Match Time: 8:56 Match Rating: C As a brawl continued in the ring between most competitors, Ric Flair slid out of the ring and stood behind Anderson, taking his NWA World Title and looking up toward the ring and smiling as the show faded out. Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Wednesday, Week 4, April 1983 Civic Center Florence, South Carolina Attendance: 5,000 vs. Ivan Koloff vs. Tommy Rich The show opens up with the Russian Bear coming out to the ring and standing at attention as the Russian National Anthem plays. It gets interrupted by the appearance of Wildfire Tommy Rich! Rich races out to the ring and the opening match is on! Wildfire got an early advantage on the Russian Bear, taking him by surprise with a dropkick and a body slam! He dropped a leg and made a cover, getting only a two count. Koloff powered out of that pinfall attempt and dodged a punch from Rich, making a comeback and focusing on the lower back of Wildfire. Koloff signalled for the Bear Hug early but Rich got out quickly by boxing the ears of Koloff! Rich started his comeback, which ended with a Bionic Elbow and a pinfall for the Wildfire! Winner: Tommy Rich Match Time: 7:49 Match Rating: C+ From the back came Greg Valentine with the United States belt in hand. He slid in the ring and the crowd tried to point out Valentine behind Rich! Tommy Rich turned...and DUCKED! He kicked the Hammer in the gut and took the belt away, smashing Valentine in the face with it! The crowd cheered as Rich held the belt overhead before dropping it on the fallen form of the U.S. Champ. ------ vs. Pick Your Poison Match! Jimmy Valiant vs. A Wrestler of Ric Flair's Choosing Jimmy Valiant came out to a good cheer from the crowd and stood in the corner, waiting for the arrival of whomever his opponent would be. After a minute, the fans were NOT shocked to see Arn Anderson walk out from the back after Anderson interfered in the six man tag match last week. Anderson slid in the ring and Ric Flair stepped to ringside for this encounter. Inside the ring, the styles of Valiant and Anderson seemed to clash, with neither man looking particular good or dangerous in this bout. Anderson's focus was on the leg of Valiant with Flair smiling as he looked on. Anderson ran his thumb across his throat and Flair strutted at ringside as Double A whipped Valiant into the ropes. Anderson's Spinebuster was reversed by Valiant into a knee lift! The Boogie Woogie Man began his advantage on Anderson and set up Anderson for the Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop! He stepped in the corner and Ric Flair grabbed his ankle! Referee Tommy Young called for the bell! Winner: Jimmy Valiant Match Time: 7:37 Match Rating: D+ Flair kept Valiant distracted while Anderson was slowly getting to his feet in the ring! Anderson charged Valiant and caught him with a knee to the ribs! Double A gave a swift kick to the leg as Flair came inside the ring and climbed to the second turnbuckle. Anderson held Valiant's leg out and Flair came off with a knee drop from the second turnbuckle, causing Valiant to cry out in pain! Officials came running down to the ring but the damage had already been done. ------ vs. Kelly Kiniski vs. Bob Orton, Jr. The fans were not happy to see Sir Oliver Humperdink at ringside but were glad to see Bob Orton, Jr. in action here tonight. Orton dominated the young Kiniski during this bout with Sir Oliver Humperdink looking very unhappy at ringside. Orton, Jr. got the pinfall following a Running Powerslam. Winner: Bob Orton, Jr. Match Time: 5:57 Match Rating: D ------ vs. The Road Warriors vs. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw Paul Ellering led the Road Warriors down to the ring to boos from the crowd and Rufus hightailed it out of the ring, leaving Bugsy to take the brunt of the initial onslaught of the Road Warriors. They quickly dominated McGraw with Animal hitting him with a powerslam and a big shoulder tackle! Animal tossed McGraw into his own corner to tag out to the Freight Train. Rufus wanted no part of the Road Warriors but slowly got into the ring and was dominated by Animal and Hawk. Animal gave him a military press slam before Paul Ellering signalled that it was over and Rufus fell victim to a Doomsday Device and a pinfall by Hawk. Winners: The Road Warriors Match Time: 1:50 Match Rating: D Following the win, Paul Ellering led the Road Warriors down to the podium where they intimidated Tony Schiavone away from the podium and Paul Ellering took up a microphone. Paul Ellering Ricky Steamboat, Jay Youngblood, take a very good and close look at what just happened up there in the ring because THAT is your future at Wrestlewar 1983. Your biggest mistake was giving my Road Warriors a shot at your NWA World Tag Team Titles because my men snack on danger and dine on death. They are the two toughest athletes in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and they will prove it this Sunday. South Carolina, be prepared to meet the intelligence of Paul Ellering, the speed of Hawk, the strength of Animal and the domination of the Road Warriors. ------ vs. Pick Your Poison Match Non Title Match Ric Flair vs. A Wrestler of Jimmy Valiant's Choosing Ric Flair looked extremely confident as he made his way down to the ring with Arn Anderson in tow. Anderson stood in his corner as they awaited the wrestler that Jimmy Valiant chose. The crowd rose on their feet and cheered when he walked out as it was none other than...Blackjack Mulligan!!! This is a man that Flair knows very well. Flair went crazy inside the ring, yelling at the referee and at Anderson! But there's nothing that can be done! Mulligan hit the ring with that black glove on one hand and the bell sounded. Flair stalled early in the bout, using the ropes to keep Mulligan at bay. But once Blackjack got ahold of Flair, he hit him with a big clothesline and a flying elbow to the head! Mulligan body slammed Flair and dropped a big elbow for a cover and got a 2 count before Flair kicked out. Flair raked the eyes of Mulligan and tossed him outside the ring so that he had a chance to recover. He distracted the referee Randy Anderson while on the outside, Arn Anderson came over to Mulligan and hit him in the leg with a chair! It's amazing that the referee didn't hear the thud! Anderson tossed Mulligan back into the ring and Flair did a little strut to boos from the crowd. Flair went in for the Figure 4 Leglock but Mulligan reversed it into a small package... 1... 2... Kickout by Flair! Somehow Flair kicked out and went back to work on the leg of Blackjack Mulligan to boos from the crowd! The crowd tried to pull Blackjack through but Flair pulled Mulligan into the center of the ring and locked on the Figure 4 Leglock! Mulligan shook his head, screaming and shouting in pain and Flair used the ropes to his advantage while the referee wasn't looking. He even used Arn Anderson to his advantage, getting leverage from outside the ring. Finally, Randy Anderson had no choice but to call for the bell. Winner: Ric Flair Match Time: 8:25 Match Rating: B Flair did not release the Figure 4 right away! Mulligan cried out in pain as Arn Anderson rolled into the ring and tossed referee Randy Anderson out of the ring before stomping on the fallen body of Blackjack Mulligan! Flair held on to the ropes, holding on to the Figure 4 Leglock. He's gonna snap the leg of Blackjack! Wait a second, the crowd is cheering...it's Jimmy Valiant! The Boogie Woogie Man has a chair and he's limping out to the ring! Valiant slides in and swings the chair at Anderson! Double A ducks and rolls out of the ring, pulling Flair out as the Figure 4 is broken and Jimmy Valiant stands tall in the center of the ring on the last show before Wrestlewar!
