I absolutely loved the x-pac vs Jeff hardy poll. so in that vein i have knocked up a 64 wrestler bracket game. please vote share your opinions and hopefully enjoy the game. this page will keep track of the results from the other posts, and will allow you to make suggestions in general about the game. any and all ideas are welcome, and thank you for your participation! do you want to save some time playing this game? each active pole will be linked until the results are final, so just scroll through the groups and click on each of the linked polls! it's that easy. :) future poll inductees: (or people whom i forgot/did not make the list) Ric Flair Raven Sean Waltman Ricky Steamboat Diamond Dallas Paige

so there are 64 + 8 = 72 entrants into this first tournament. each group has 16 + 2 = 18 entrants. 4 recently retired, 4 dead, 4 legends, 6 current supper stars. the current superstars round 1 berths will be contended under triple threat rules. after the first round we will have moved from 72 entrants down to a standard 32. each bracket has been staggered so hopefully we can see a good mix of each group facing off in at the very least round 2, but hopefully through out the competition. for round 1 i will post 1 match up from each group per day, for 8 days, you will have 2 days vote on each pairing. I will update the brackets above as we progress. when we reach the elite 8 i will condense the winners down, and put them into the first post. Here's to a great tournament!

Since i am playing referee, should i be allowed to vote? I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I don't want anyone to think i am trying to influence the results, and since i did set up the brackets would you see it as a conflict of interest if i voted? or should i just voice my opinion in the thread but refrain from actually voting? thanks mistaken

You're just as much of a fan here as any of us and your vote is definitely not gonna sway my vote either way.

Rick Rules! um, yeah make that 73, we left a huge one off the list. Rick Flair is getting a pass directly to the top 32, and we will slot him in as wild card in a fatal three way of our choosing next round!!! (sorry rick! to be honest I'm not putting him in some where this round, because he belongs in 3 out of the 4 categories! he retired so recently i could put him in retired or active, and he certainly would fit in just fine in the legends pool)

If some one has got an idea for how to lay out the brackets on the page once we get to round 2, either throw them up here, or pm me. i want to keep this looking a clean as possible, I'm thinking i may need to throw in HTML tables, but I'm also hoping someone might have an easier or better suggestion. (totally not married to the idea of doing all that HTML coding!)
How the hell could you forget Ric Flair?
Um, i am really really sorry. but i gave him a bye to the next round? OK,not buying it? honest answer lack of preparation (about an hour) and more concern over setting up the brackets than double checking the entrants. (that job was farmed out, I won't name names though, I'll take full responsibility :o )
Amoung others? :(
Many Many others. (i have a general lack of knowledge beyond TNA and WWE, lack of knowledge of the 80's and earlier, and deceased. (again i farmed out about half the list)
...But Kamala and Tatanka are there, so it's all good!
Hey I stand by both and voted for both, Setting up the brackets has it's perks. beside i needed easy first round eliminations. If those goes off well, and i choose to try this again in the future, I will put up something before hand to 1) help select the entrants for each pool, 2) pre-rate them some how, to create a more accurate match up system. Until then all i can do is apologize, learn from the mistakes I was bound to make, and say i hope you enjoy the game despite it's inherent short comings. -mistaken
Kevin Nash as a 16 seed and Crash Holly at a 15. You truly have lived up to your name. I'm getting my boy Skip Bayless to call you up and give you a 12 minute bitchout for this.
Um, they aren't in the same pool, and Kev's not dead. 4 pools current wrestlers recently retired dead Legends (dead or retired ~10 years or more) Next Kev's in a pool of 24, and he's 16-a, which consulting the spread sheet works out position 12 in his ranking. I'm sure more people will take issue with my ranking of the current wrestlers, but here is how the positioning acutally worked out. 1)HHH 2)Kurt Angle 3)Christian Cage 4)Sting 5)Undertaker 6)Edge 7)Samoa Joe 8)CM Punk 9)HBK 10)Chris Jericho 11)Booker T 12)Kevin Nash 13)Scott Steiner 14)Bryan Danielson 15)Randy Orton 16)Batista 17)Big Show 18)John Cena 19)Kane 20)JBL 21)Rey Mysterio Jr 22)Rhino 23)Matt Hardy 24)Jeff Hardy Don't asked how the got paired up, as I'm not sure I can properly explain the funky math i used. sufice it to say each 3 way pairing adds up to roughly 37.5 (with a window of error of about 2.5 plus or minus) and as long as I'm posting the pools, I'll beg for more criticism and cries of miss ranking. Recently retired: 1) Hulk Hogan 2) Ted Dibiase 3) Rody Piper 4) Bret Hart 5) The Rock 6) Goldberg 7) Steve Austin 8) Lex Luger 9)Mick Foley 10)Brock Lesnar 11)Randy Savage 12)Jake Roberts 13)Scott Hall 14)Sgt Slaughter 15)Ultimate Warrior 16)Tatanka dead: 1) Eddie Guerruero 2) Chris Beniot 3) Curt Henning 4) Big Bossman (Ray Traylor) 5) Owen Hart 6) British Bulldog 7)Kerry Von Erich 8)Andre The Giant 9)Bam Bam Bigelow 10)Rick Rude 11)Mike Awesome 12)Brian Pilliman 13)Bruiser Brody 14)Yokozuna 15)Crash Holly 16)Peter Miavia Legend: 1) Dusty Rhodes 2) chief jay strongbow 3)Ernie Ladd 4)Bob Orton Jr 5)Kamala 6)Harley Race 7)Greg Valentine 8)Jack Brisco 9)Jerry Brisco 10)Big John Studd 11)Jesse Ventura 12)Jerry Lawler 13)Jimmy Snuka 14)Junkyard Dog 15)Killer Kowalski 16)Paul Orndorff
Something to say about the Recently Retired list... Why is Ultimate Warrior in there .. he just wrestled OJ in NWE.
Because he doesn't really fit in any category. he surely hasn't wrestled enough to fit into the active wrestlers category.

Day 1 analysis. A:1 - 16 Hulk Hogan vs Tatanka:
the first 1-16 match up was a crushing, Hulk Hogan and Tatanka combined for 55 votes, and Hogan walked way with 49-6 victory. but his next round match up might not be as easy, since it looks like Kurt Angle will be his opponent in the next round.
B:8 - 9 Jack Brisco vs Jerry Brisco
The battle of the Briso Brothers came down more to their roles in today's wrestling than their impact as wrestling legends of yesteryear. Jack going on to win it 27-17 for not going to work as a wwe lackey.
C:5 - 12 Kamala vs Jerry Lawler
This was the first upset, but really it just shows that the rankings board has a few screws loose, as Kamala should never have been ranked number 5. Jerry Lawler not only one, he made the Ugandan giant look bad in the process, taking the victory by over 45 point, 50 - 3.
D: 4 - 13 Bret Hart vs Scott Hall
This was the second closest match up of the day, but that's not saying much as the excellence of execution trounced the Chico, 43-11. But Hart should face a much tougher challenge in the next round, because unless a miracle occurs he will be facing the Perfect one, Curt Henning.
Day 1 is in the books, and we look forward the 8 contests that are still going on, and the 20 still to come in this round. the ranking committee despite it's short comings has had 75% percent of the match ups in it's favor so far. The game goes on, and as always thank you for your participation.
