Press Release #5 For Immediate Release: Final Three Teams Named to TTL Roster Now Complete; Season to Begin Soon PRINCETON (NEW JERSEY) – The Tag-Team League is pleased to announce the signings of the final three teams to complete its inaugural roster. The Shooters – Billy Robinson and Don Henderson - have come out of nowhere to be named the 14th team to compete in the first season of the Tag-Team League. The Shooters are former two-time ROF Tag Team Champions and will likely be one of the most popular teams in the league when all is said and done due to their no-nonsense style. Commissioner Jim Surge said that The Shooters were under consideration for the league “ever since I came up with the idea” and it was a tactical maneuver to bamboozle ROF by excluding Robinson and Henderson from any press releases or public discussions. “Every week for 15 weeks we’re going to be involved in the biggest match of our careers,” said Henderson. “You’d have to be severely emo not to get what’s going on here with the greatest teams in the world today all together in one fed.” The Can-Am Blondes, the team consisting of The Natural and Owen Love, were persuaded to leave NOTBPW at the last moment for the promise of money, and a shot at The Melbourne Blondes. “These look-alike clowns that rub tanning oil on each others’ backs are going to be in for a rude awakening,” said The Natural when signing his TTL contract. “When we get the Melbourne Blondes, we want it to be loser-changes-name! They come strolling in here like they’re big shots already when they haven’t proven a thing to anyone.” When questioned, Blake Belushi had little to say, nor would he confirm a loser-changes-name match: “They really said that? I thought The Natural dyes his hair? Anyway, I’m sure they’ll be a tough team to face when we square up against them.” And finally, the classic big man/little man (and by little, we mean The Brisbane Devil is a light heavyweight!) team of King Malietoa and The Brisbane Devil, otherwise known as Samoan Demolition, have been named as the 16th and final team on the roster. The unknown Australian rookies are considered to be vast underdogs against a field of some of the best tag-teams of all-time but they may have the youth and enthusiasm to make a real impression in the league. Final TTL Season One Roster (in order of contract signed): The Amazing Bumfholes (Randy & Zimmy; heel) Dos Phoenix (II & III; managed by I; face) The DeColt Brothers (Jack & Ricky; face) Team Dynasty 2000 (Yoshimi Mushashibo & Shuji Inukai; heel) Sexual Aggression (Joe Sexy & Angry Gilmore; heel) The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae; face) The Avalanche Effect (KOKI Ishibashi & The Incredible KOYAMA; heel) The Machines (Brent Hill & John Anderson; face) The New Wave (Guide & Scout; face) Double Dutch (Ruud Van Anger & Frank De Pain; heel) Above & Below (Emerald Angel & Hell Monkey; unknown) High Concept (Elmo Benson & Groucho Bling; face) The Melbourne Blondes (Blake Belushi & Rick Stantz w/ Stephanie Drucker; heel) The Shooters (Billy Robinson & Don Henderson; face) The Can-Am Blondes (The Natural & Owen Love; face) Samoan Demolition (King Malietoa & The Brisbane Devil; heel) More information as it becomes available. Pre-Show Meeting Thanks for the kind words! Rath - Samoan Demolition was just for you. Although I think I'm going to work in a "ballot stuffing" angle! ;) Everything has gone swimmingly thus far. With the very large exception of Commissioner Jim Surge making an enemy of SWF owner Richard Eisen by publicly humiliating him in front of many of the world’s top sportswriters I would say that everything else had gone exactly as we had hoped! I didn’t like the idea of Eisen out there no doubt using his own considerable resources to come up with some sort of plan and waiting for a perfect time to launch a counter-attack. But I couldn't dwell on the idea now because it was time to meet with the Commish. “When are you going to move out of this dump?” Surge said as he strolled into my Princeton, New Jersey apartment without knocking. Before I could answer he answered himself, “I know, I know, you ‘just maintain this place’ it’s not your permanent residence. How have you been?” Surge extended his hand to me and I shook it. “Pretty well,” I said, “I was just contemplating how things have been going and there’s not much to complain about.” “Excellent,” Surge answered, sounding nothing like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons. “I’m pleased to hear it. I’ve been dealing with a couple of teams that didn’t make it in… I told The Ace Express and The Tennessee Outlaws that they could be “alternates” in case something happens to any of the teams. They just wouldn’t stop calling…” “I told you cell phones are evil,” I said with a smile. “Yeah, I’m starting to see where you’re coming from with that,” he replied. “Okay, we have a couple of issues.” “Go ahead,” I said. “Hannah Potter. She’s still has to select which team she’s going to manage. I mean she’s certainly got something going on but we can’t really open up the first ever TTL show with her picking a team can we?” “Why not?” I asked mainly to see his response. He didn’t seem to appreciate the quiz because he changed the subject. “Did you hear what she’s thinking about?” Surge asked back, “The Amazing Bumfholes or Sexual Aggression.” “Double Dutch is out?” I asked. “She said they were pretty cheap,” Surge laughed. “They made her pay for her portion of the dinner, the movie, and cab fare.” “Ouch,” I said back with a smirk. “How is the league schedule coming along?” “Well,” Surge replied, “it’s complete. The way it worked out is that we’re going to stagger the start of the league over three shows and then when the third show is finished two full rounds will then be complete. After round two is complete we’ll hold supercards with 8 matches each, completing the whole week’s worth of fixtures in one night.” “Sounds nuts,” I said. “It should be pretty crazy,” he said. “You know I can’t thank you enough for getting this all going. I’d still be…” “Listen,” I said urgently, trying to convey a sense of seriousness, “I’ve probably invested enough to keep this thing going for the first two seasons, after that you may be on your own. I came into this thinking it was a no-lose situation but we are going to have to try and make this thing big and generate some cash, especially if Eisen gets involved I figure we’re going to need a deep reserve warchest. The idea of tag-team only cards hopefully will catch on…” “I know what you’re saying,” Surge replied. “I’ll do my best to generate some income but, I mean, all of the teams have to face each other once so I’m not going to have a ton of flexibility.” “I realize that,” I said, nodding in the affirmative. “I just wanted to be clear I’m invested, certainly, but I’m not an endless well; not for this project, anyway.” “I appreciate the honesty, boss,” Surge nodded. Then he handed me a piece of paper with the first show’s schedule on it. “Here’s the way it turned out.” “Looks like a solid warm-up week,” I said. “Nice job.” “Exactly what I was going for,” Surge said, looking pleased. “But opening with Hannah Potter?” “You signed her, not me!” I laughed. “You didn’t object!” Surge shot back. “Well, I’m not stupid either,” I said. “The whole ‘you pick a team’ thing was your idea too though so quit complaining.” “Yeah, yeah,” Surge said, realizing he was losing the battle. “What do you think of whenever I’m on-cam I enter to Overkill’s 'Powersurge?' I think it could really become a catchy sort of thing…” I laughed.
Many apologize. I got confused. SO, like I edited in... Any plans to bring in Rhino Umaga and um ... the other Samoan. Bali?
Nice, I switched up too. :) I think they are good candidates for Season Two. These 16 will go for it for the first season.

Preview: Matchday One The Tag Team League previews MATCHDAY ONE LIVE! From the McGaw Arena Hannah Potter Hannah Potter will kick off TTL: Matchday One with the announcement of which team she is going to manage during the competition. As was defined by Commissioner Jim Surge at the time of her hiring, she is allowed to select from any of the sixteen teams in the Tag-Team League and has been linked through recent rumors to be favoring The Amazing Bumfholes or Sexual Aggression. Double Dutch has been another team linked with Potter in the past but they seem to have fallen out of contention in recent days. Who will it be? Or will Commissioner Surge sabotage the segment in order to kick off Matchday One with an actual match? Stay tuned to find out! It remains to be seen how the physically small Ruud Van Anger and Frank De Pain will cope with the rigors of 15 matches in 15 weeks against the best teams in the world, and the pressure is compounded this week by the fact that they come into the match as heavy favorites against the debuting newcomers. Billy Robinson and Don Henderson will look to slow things down and turn the match into a technical contest against their vastly more experienced opponents but with so many ways for The Rebellion to strike back it’s hard look past the veterans in this encounter. One has to wonder about the psyche of Phoenix II after essentially being told he’s unwanted by his partner. Less than a week later High Concept followed in their exact same footsteps. This is a classic blast-from-the-recent-past encounter with some serious history behind it as The Bumfholes captured their first SWF World Tag Team Championship in April of 2006, ending High Concept’s second title reign. Some say High Concept have never been the same since the loss; the team has decided to switch things up a bit and use their real names – Benson Crane and Greg Black – for the competition. _______________________________________________ Quick Picks Hannah Potter’s selection: Double Dutch vs. Samoan Demolition The Rebellion vs. The Shooters Dos Phoenix vs. The Machines Team Dynasty 2000 vs. The New Wave The DeColt Brothers vs. The Avalanche Effect The Amazing Bumfholes vs. High Concept League Predicts: Will a team win 10 or more matches (there are 15 matches per team)? Double Dutch vs. Samoan Demolition The Rebellion vs. The Shooters Dos Phoenix vs. The Machines Team Dynasty 2000 vs. The New Wave The DeColt Brothers vs. The Avalanche Effect The Amazing Bumfholes vs. High Concept I mark for the Shooters and Dos Phoenix, but the Shooters in particular are longer-term prospects. Musashibo is a future HOI candidate and the DeColts seem a good team to start strong. I think SD have more upside than DD, and I tip High Concept to get the advantage over the Bumfholes so that Hannah Potter can afterward select them and give them a momentum boost later.

Hannah Potter’s selection: Bumfholes, easily. Double Dutch vs. Samoan Demolition COME ONnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn The Rebellion vs. Whom? I would say yes, and it'll be the Bumfholes. They're just the best team of the lot. The New Wave will win a lion's share too. Will a team lose 10 or more matches? Whom? I have a feeling you want to break my heart by having the Demolition lose a lot - but they ARE a weak team compared to the others skills. At the end of the season, who shall be the: Top 3 teams? Bumf, Dos Phoenix, The Machines Bottom 3 teams? Melbourne Blondes, Can-Am Blondes, and the Shooters. Most surprising? The Demolition, who go 15-0 and break the crap out of three opponents as well. At the end of the season, who shall be the: Top 3 teams? TD 2000, Machines, Can-Am Blondes Bottom 3 teams? Shooters, Melbourne Blondes, New Wave Most surprising? Samoans, who end up 4th or so due to Hannah's influence helping them. Can-Am Blondes, who will show American fans what they've been missing. Most disappointing? New Wave, who will crash and burn. DeColts, who will end up mid table.

Thanks for the picks (and ideas)! I'm toying with the idea of letting the winner of the league predicts and the winner of the card picks name two of the of the three replacement teams for next season (each winner would pick one team, leaving the third pick to me). But there needs to be some criteria on the selection "to preserve the integrity of the league" so to speak (ie. no jobber teams, team has to be a regular tag-team, etc..), so any ideas would be appreciated. :) edit: with the full update out today I've spent some time re-configuring the in-game setup of the league. With that task out of the way, it's going to be a few hours, but the first show should be up later.

Matchday One Results Note: Full shows will be posted after the first three “warmup” shows when all 16 teams will be in action. During the first three shows each team will be rotated so that they only compete in their first two matches. After the third show each team will go into battle for 13 straight weeks. So the first three weeks will be called Matchday One, Matchday One/Two, and Matchday Two. After that we'll be on track. The Tag Team League presents MATCHDAY ONE Saturday, 6th June, 2008 LIVE! From the McGaw Arena – 3,489 in attendance Hannah Potter Selects Her Team With the screeching of car tires and much smoke pouring out of the backstage area, Hannah Potter came out through the curtains in the backseat of a red and white 1966 McLaren M1A Can-Am racer with the number “3” on it. The Natural and Owen Love occupied the front seats and waved to the shocked crowd. To stun the crowd even further, an awkward Potter got on the mic and announced that she would be managing The Melbourne Blondes for the duration of the competition! As the Can-Am Blondes laughed in the ring the announcement caused all sorts of turmoil as the flabbergasted Blake Belushi, Rick Stantz, and Stephanie Drucker came rushing down to ringside to plead with Commissioner Surge that Drucker was already the Melbourne Blondes’ manager. But Surge had no choice but to uphold his decision as he admitted that the original agreement stated that Potter could chose any of the 16 teams in the competition. Surge announced that Drucker was out as the Melbourne Blondes’ manager and as Potter began to cozy up to Blake Belushi a bewildered Stephanie was corralled by The Natural and Love and the Can-Ams put their arms around her and quickly led her to the backstage area. Belushi pushed the aggressive Potter away and he and Stantz looked at each other and dropped their heads into their hands. After some shouting between the Melbournes and Potter, the threesome made their way away from ringside and back to the locker-room area. Double Dutch vs. Samoan Demolition This one got ugly quickly as King Malietoa and The Brisbane Devil isolated Ruud Van Anger and really gave him the business for seven straight minutes. Samoan Demolition showed surprising quickness in their tagging in and out and pulverized Van Anger with a series of double-team moves in quick succession. Malietoa hit a sit-down corner splash on Van Anger and when Frank De Pain tried to finally get involved in the match The Brisbane Devil met him and knocked the small Dutchman clear out of the ring with a brutal spinning kick. Malietoa got the pinfall on Van Anger at 7:31 as Samoan Demolition win the first match in TTL history. The Rebellion vs. The Shooters The Shooters came into the match riding a nice wave of confidence due to some serious fan support but The Rebellion put on a textbook show of tag-team excellence to come away with the victory. The match was looking fairly even after the first five minutes but as soon as Don Henderson left the match for the second time The Rebellion went into high gear and didn’t let Billy Robinson out of their corner. Miyame hit the Miyamae Spoiler and it was all over for The Shooters at 8:45. Overall the general feeling was that contest was a lackluster affair. Dos Phoenix vs. The Machines With Phoenix III taking on a pseudo-heel role in the minds of the fans due to wanting to ditch his partner Phoenix II for his manager Phoenix I, The Machines enjoyed the lion’s share of the fans’ adulation. Whenever a member of Dos Phoenix seemed to have Brent Hill or John Anderson reeling they would pull away to bicker with their own corner before turning their attention back to the match. Eventually it was one too many internal arguments as Hill got the victory over Phoenix III with a King of the Hill at 11:35 to the delight of the McGaw Arena crowd. Phoenix I made a point not to help Phoenix III at all during the match but he did give plenty of council and support to Phoenix II. Surge Changes the Schedule Commissioner Surge got up from the announce table to say to the bloodthirsty crowd that due to “unforeseen circumstances,” The DeColts would be up next and Team Dynasty 2000’s match against The New Wave would get pushed back. Surge was wildly booed and called a “coward” and “chicken” by the ringside fans in loud, prolonged chants that rocked the arena. The DeColt Brothers vs. The Avalanche Effect Ricky DeColt looked very serious as he came down the rampway and into the ring with a large chip on his shoulder. The young DeColt was able to hold his own early against both members of The Avalanche Effect, but it was Jack DeColt that came in several times to do the heavy damage. After 10 minutes had passed Ricky neutralized an increasingly frustrated KOKI Ishibashi in a wild exchange of countermoves before Jack came in and cinched in an End of Days to force The Incredible KOYAMA to submit at 12:05. The crowd gave the DeColts a warm ovation and despite the technical skill on display the general consensus was that The Machines verses Dos Phoenix was a better match. Team Dynasty 2000 vs. The New Wave The TTL produced its first shocker as even after Yoshimi Mushashibo had his match moved to be later in the card than Ricky DeColt, The New Wave upset Team Dynasty 2000 when Mushashibo tapped out to Scout’s Special Force at 12:54. It was the best match on the card thus far but straight from the beginning it was clear that at least half of Team Dynasty were pre-occupied with something other than The New Wave. Guide and Scout meanwhile soaked in the huge cheers of the McGaw Arena crowd, most of whom would have given their left arm to see Mushashibo lose. Mushashibo sat stunned in the ring after the loss and Shuji Inukai knew better than to try and console his partner as he headed straight to the back. The Amazing Bumfholes vs. High Concept The fans were treated to a second high-level encounter and High Concept walked away as surprise winners after 18:21 when Benny Benson secured the victory against Randy Bumfhole with a Shockwave from Next Year. Hannah Potter appeared at ringside during the match and repeatedly distracted the Bumfholes just by standing there as Randy and Zimmy especially often just stood catatonic-like in the ring staring at her. Her appearance has lead to all manner of speculation as to what her role in the TTL is really going to be, most leaving the arena thinking her selection of The Melbourne Blondes earlier was a rib in conjunction with the Can-Am Blondes to get under Stephanie Drucker and The Melbournes' skin. TTL Season One Current Standings (Wins/Draws/Losses): 1. High Concept (1-0-0 2 pts.) 2. Samoan Demolition (1-0-0 2 pts.) 3. The Machines (1-0-0 2 pts.) 4. The New Wave (1-0-0 2 pts.) 5. The DeColt Brothers (1-0-0 2 pts.) 6. The Rebellion (1-0-0 2 pts.) 7. Sexual Aggression (0-0-0 0 pts.) 8. The Melbourne Blondes (0-0-0 0 pts.) 9. Above & Below (0-0-0 0 pts.) 10. The Can-Am Blondes (0-0-0 0 pts.) 11. Team Dynasty 2000 (0-0-1 0 pts.) 12. The Avalanche Effect (0-0-1 0 pts.) 13. Dos Phoenix (0-0-1 0 pts.) 14. Double Dutch (0-0-1 0 pts.) 15. The Shooters (0-0-1 0 pts.) 16. The Amazing Bumfholes (0-0-1 0 pts.)

Double Dutch, meanwhile, doesn’t see their schedule get any easier after the pounding they took from Samoan Demolition on Matchday One. Ruud Van Anger and Frank De Pain will have to hope that Sexy and Gilmore have some ring rust or else the Dutchmen could be the first team saddled with two losses. The New Wave though will be wary of their bigger opponents and have commented this week that looking at Samoan Demolition reminds them of themselves prior to their upset of Team Dynasty 2000 in week one – a stress-free attitude of having nothing to lose. It remains to be seen though if Guide and Scout will be able to do what Double Dutch couldn’t: exploit the inexperience of the Samoans. Nothing could be further from the truth as his increasingly erratic behavior took another turn for the worse when he realized once again that he wasn’t in the Main Event slot. The Melbourne Blondes, however, don’t come into their TTL debut match feeling any better about themselves. Last week the Blondes’ longtime manager (and Blake Belushi’s girlfriend) Stephanie Drucker was replaced last week by Hannah Potter who was able to select any of the 16 teams in the competition to manage as a condition of her contract. Potter has been outwardly throwing herself at Belushi this week and one has to wonder where his mind might be when the bell rings. It will be interesting to be see if something further comes from that incident as neither Drucker or The Can-Am Blondes have had any announcements this week about a possible alliance despite several alleged “closed-door meetings.” The Amazing Bumfholes were a bit stunned last week as not only did they think they were the front-runners for Hannah Potter’s services but they thought they would have the in-ring advantage over old rivals High Concept. With losses on both fronts, The Bumfs could really use a big win to get some confidence back. MATCH #11 w/ VS. Dos Phoenix w/ manager Phoenix I (0-0-1, 0 pts.) vs. Above & Below (0-0-0, 0 pts.) Turmoil, turmoil, turmoil, that seems to be the theme of the week. A less-than-crisp Dos Phoenix took it on the chin last week when it seemed Phoenix II and manager Phoenix I left troublemaker Phoenix III in the ring on his own for most of their defeat at the hands of The Machines. It doesn’t seem like any progress has been made towards mending fences either as Phoenix III has reiterated his plea several times for Phoenix I to replace Phoenix II as his partner. On the other side of things the impressive combination Above & Below come into the match in the free-and-easy mode that proved successful for teams like The Machines, The New Wave, and The Rebellion last week. But nothing’s for certain in this business and as we’ve already seen that holds especially true in the TTL. Above & Below will have to shake the “first match jitters” that some far more experienced teams have already experienced here in the Tag Team League. _______________________________________________ Quick Picks Sexual Aggression vs. Double Dutch The New Wave vs. Samoan Demolition Team Dynasty 2000 vs. The Melbourne Blondes The Amazing Bumfholes vs. The Can-Am Blondes Dos Phoenix vs. Above & Below

Oh man, I did okay with those predictions. Demolition getting the win is awesome too! I love you :) Sexual Aggression vs. Double Dutch - Double dutch going 0-15 The New Wave vs. Samoan Demolition - I figure they beat the other guys for a reason, and as much as I love Demolition I think they're midtable at best. Team Dynasty 2000 vs. The Melbourne Blondes - Potter will have something to do with them winning this. The Amazing Bumfholes vs. The Can-Am Blondes - The best team in the competition won't lose two on the trot. Dos Phoenix vs. Above & Below

Sexual Aggression vs. Double Dutch The New Wave vs. Samoan Demolition Team Dynasty 2000 vs. The Melbourne Blondes The Amazing Bumfholes vs. The Can-Am Blondes Dos Phoenix vs. Above & Below No way in hell Double Dutch beat Joe and Angry. The New Wave, I figure, continue strongly and Dynasty are very solid players who deserve a score here. Take the Can-Am Blondes over the Bumfholes to continue the Potter-inspired hijinks as Blondes get ready to meet Blondes. Dos Phoenix are great and the last match I'm mildly edgy on my predictions for as they might well be that little more over here, but EA and his buddy deserve the win on talent.
