The Fry Report Preview
Every week on The Fry Report podcast will provide the latest information on everything Supreme. News, rumors, and interviews, all brought to you by the incomparable Duane Fry. Preview for podcast available Monday, Week 1, December 2008 "Double E" Eric Eisen is in change. And the youngest Eisen looks determined to make his mark on Supreme TV and close out the year in style. The countdown to 2009 has begun, and the first Supreme TV of December looks loaded! Trust us, this is one you do not want to miss!" "Amidst the endless hype for the clash of the titans Rich Money and Christian Faith at Christmas Clash 2008, there is a new story brewing inside the Supreme One confines. Apparently Interim General Manager Eisen didn't take some of the comments from Rich Money on Moments with Money with a good sense of humor. In fact, the new boss is plenty unhappy over it. We could see some fallout." "Its experience against promise as SWF World Tag Team champions Sin Inc take on Badd Kompany. The duo of Joss Thompson and Sean Deeley seem to have found their feet in the SWF after retaining the services of lovely young manager Hannah Potter. But they are taking on a wily and experienced duo in Joe Sexy and John McClean. Taking the belts from the veterans will be no easy task, and many feel the Badd Kompany pair just aren't ready yet. They earned the title shot at the Break Like the Wind pay per view, but Sin Inc refused to give them a title shot on the coming Christmas Clash pay per view... Will the veterans pay for their disrespect?" "Plenty of tag team action on tap in addition to the title match. The revolutionary Los Diablo pair will face Sara Silver's Silvebacks. The young Keith brothers will find themselves in a brawl against the more experienced Death Row duo, who have been little seen on the Legends brand of late and are apparently coming over for the match at the request of Eric Eisen." "A big six-man tag match pits three of the young stars of the Four Kings against Team Gilmore. Ace Newton lost to Angry Gilmore back in October and he's apparently looking for payback. This should be a good entertaining match." "In the main event, Rich Money is back in action. He's teaming with Remo to take on Sean McFly and a mystery partner. Who is going to step up to team with The American Tiger? My hot pick is Eric Eisen to come out to his short retirement to down the champ and bathe himself in glory! Of course, it would mean resigning as General Manager... and we would have to put up with seeing Emma Chase every week on Supreme TV as GM again... Hey, a man can dream, can't he?" "It looks to be another big week, fans. Supreme TV is on C.A.N.N. every Tuesday night! The only wrestling on TV on Tuesday night..." Snap, you're quick, PS! Its probably asking a lot to be doing predictions and nominations at once, but I have... faith... Plus, the nominations will be open for awhile. Regarding the nominations, thanks to everyone who has already put something in. As I said, its an open process. If you can only think or really have a nomination for one category, that's cool. If you want to make multiple nomations in the same category, again, fine. Whatever works.

Hmm, you making an effort to have not-so-predictable shows..? The Silverbacks vs Los Diablos Interesting match-up here, for sure..but since The Silverback's don't ever seem to get a match with anyone they aren't hired to beat down, I see a DQ win for Los Diablos here. Darryl Devine vs Ash Campbell vs Kirk Jameson Easiest pick here.. Badd Kompany vs Sin Inc for the SWF World Tag Team Championships BK make the face turn yet? At first I thought you'd change it up into a three-way feud, but after giving it some thought, a BK face turn doesn't seem out of the question. The original reasons for them being heels was simply that they where kind of annoying, but they otherwise never did anything sinister.. Death Row vs The Keith Factor Keith Factor get their first TV win here. Swoop McCarthy vs Jack Bruce He's gonna beat up Swoooooooooooooop? He really has turned bad.. :( Ace Newton & Cameron Vessey & Casey Valentine vs Angry Gilmore & Guide & Scout Bigger names win, C-V-2 take the fall. Inspiring Charity (Sean McFly & Giant Tana) vs The Almighty Dollar IC makes it's debut with a huge win~!

I'll get round to the awards another day.... The Silverbacks vs Los Diablos I know that the Silverbacks are running with a guns for hire gimick and don't really care about W-L, but occasionally they will have to win a match and even though Los Diablos are rising stars...they'll be no great shame in losing to one of the best tag teams in the world. Darryl Devine vs Ash Campbell vs Kirk Jameson Can't see Devine sinking so low as to lose to either of these two. That may be a little harsh on Jameson who is actually a talent but isn't over enough right now. Badd Kompany vs Sin Inc for the SWF World Tag Team Championships Don't care about the match, all I care about is the fact that Hannah Potter will be at ringside ! Well OK I do care a bit, Sin Inc will retain via nefarious means. Events in the match will see BK make a full face turrn, which to be honest has been coming since they 'rescued' Hannah Potter from her neglective relationship with Darryl Devine. Death Row vs The Keith Factor Death Row are still here ? Surely this is an opportunity for Keith Factor to get their first win in front of the cameras Swoop McCarthy vs Jack Bruce Return of the 8 minute squash Ace Newton & Cameron Vessey & Casey Valentine vs Angry Gilmore & Guide & Scout Quite simply too much experience and talent on the side of Team Gilmore. Sean McFly & ??? vs The Almighty Dollar Unless McFly's partner is someone really top drawer, I can't back against the Almighty Dollar...Money and Remo together are a near unstoppable force.

The Silverbacks vs Los Diablos Sure they don't care about whether they win or lose, but what if they've been hired to win? No better way at squashing a revolution than by handing them a decisive defeat. Darryl Devine vs Ash Campbell vs Kirk Jameson Pretty much the only one who could win this one, push-wise. Badd Kompany vs Sin Inc for the SWF World Tag Team Championships A dirty win here. BK may take the win via DQ, but I think that'd be a little too generous of a push for BP's booking style. Death Row vs The Keith Factor This should mark the beginning of the long road to stardom for these two. Swoop McCarthy vs Jack Bruce A nice, easy way to put Bruce over as a heel. Have him beat on the nice Aussie kid that never did anything to anybody. Ace Newton & Cameron Vessey & Casey Valentine vs Angry Gilmore & Guide & Scout Ace certainly has the overness to take a win here, but to do that it'd mean a victory for Vessey and Valentine over some of the biggest names on the brand soooooo I don't think so. Sean McFly & ??? vs The Almighty Dollar Maybe by DQ? Maybe Jack Bruce will do some run in action (though not likely). THis one's actually really tough to call.

Nominations: Best Tag Team of the Year - Badd Kompany From their hillarious pursuit to find a manager to their eventual push I've been behind these guys since day one. (well maybe day two, due to their lackluster debut) Best Stable of the Year - Big Money Incorporated These guys only lasted for a little while, but they put on some great promos and matches. Best Match of the Year - Jack Bruce vs. Rich Money @ Supreme Challenge This was just the perfect way for Jack Bruce to drop the belt. Best Show of the Year - Under Control 2008 I just thought this one was epic. Best Non-Wrestler of the Year - Phil Vibert He really helped to solidify the Ledgends Brand and gave it a boost off the hop. Best Babyface of the Year - Angry Gilmore His face turn early in the year made for some great promos. Best Heel of the Year - Rocky Golden His reign of nothingness just makes people hate him more because of his big mouth. Biggest Moment of the Year - Sean McFly's return (of course) and Big Cat Brandon's face turn Both were truly epic mark-out moments for me. Best Overall Wrestler of the Year - Rich Money & Christian Faith These two both put on great matches all year and were respectively the faces of their brands.

I'm in the Supreme TV hot seat along with Jerry Eisen and Grandmaster Bling. Jerry Eisen: My seat isn't hot... Peter Michaels: No it isn't, Jerry.
Eric Eisen + Runaway Train In-Ring Segment The Interim General Manager of the Supreme brand comes out through the Supreme Gate to a pretty negative reception. He is trailed closely by his ever-present muscle, Runaway Train. In the ring, Double E takes the microphone. He does not look happy. Eric Eisen: My intentions coming out here tonight were originally going to be to announce more of the cross-brand matches for Christmas Clash 2008. However, instead of announcing matches for the likes of Troy Tornado and Marc DuBois... I have another issue to address... Double E allows that hang ominously. Eric Eisen: Everyone – all you fans and everyone in the back – seems to believe that growing up inside the Supreme Wrestling Federation as an Eisen is a life of privilege. And it does come with its benefits. But it also comes with the overbearing weight of expectations. Expectations that are different, just because of my last name. Because of who my father is. I have worked hard through my career to live up to the expectations, knowing that more was expected of me for being an Eisen. I took this position as Interim General Manager knowing the same. I've always accepted that. I've always also accepted that there is going to be jealousy and pettiness towards who I am and the power of my family in this business. It takes a thick skin to be an Eisen... But that only goes so far... Another hanging pause... Eric Eisen: Rich Money, get out here. Rich Money, Remo + Ace Newton It takes a short time, but SWF World Heavyweight champion Rich Money emerges through the Supreme Gate, escorted by his two friends, Remo and Ace Newton. The trio stop on the stage, staring down at Double E and the Train in the ring. Money has his belt over his shoulder, wearing his prototypical confident smirk. Eric Eisen: I assume you can know what I asked you out here, Rich? Rich Money: Oh, I would have to wager a guess that it has to do with a few comments made last week that you are going to act all offended over, so that you can bring me out here – just like this – and try to establish dominance. You are going to try to force me to apologize so that you can show all these fans here exactly who is in charge. But I'm not going to play your little game, Eric. Eric Eisen: You crossed a line last week, Money. You ought to be showing an authority figure some respect. See, I can take a joke or two at my expense. Double E has a sense of humor. But when you make it about my family... you made it personal... Rich Money: Made it personal...? Daddy Dick taught you all his tricks, didn't he? Good for you for learning so well. But don't act like a joke or two offended your tender sensibilities, Eric. I've heard you say far far worse things about your own brother. Hell, it was you who made him that way! The General Manager broods on this, saying nothing in response. Double E can't argue the truth of his fault behind Jerry Eisen's “head injury” which brought an ignoble end to the “Election” storyline. Rich Money: That might be even worse than coming out here and trying to act like your childhood was some life of hard burden. You were pampered growing up, just like I was. Probably more than I was, and that's saying something. But I can admit it, because Hard Cash isn't trying to be something he's not. If you want to talk about a rough childhood, talk to Remo here about the rough streets of Orange County. Or Ace here about growing up in the great frozen wastes up there in Canada. I mean, he spent his formative years living in an igloo and fighting polar bears! There is some laughter from the crowd. Newton looks confused, then shrugs in agreement. Eric Eisen: Perspective, Money. Its all a matter of perspective. But we can make this very simple and painless. All I'm looking for is an apology. The SWF World Heavyweight champion seems to consider this for a long moment, before shaking his head. Rich Money: Can't do it. Eric Eisen: Its simple, Rich. Just say the words “I'm sorry” and all is forgiven. We can start fresh. Again, Money seems to consider this. He even goes so far as to huddle with Remo and Newton to discuss. Coming out of little huddle, he again shakes his head. Rich Money: Again, can't do it. The words “I'm sorry” only come out of this mouth when I really mean it. Same as the words”I love you.” Those are powerful phrases, but they lose their meaning if you use them without truly meaning it. Since I wouldn't mean, I can't say. No more than I can tell you I love you, Eric. Saying either would be a lie. Eisen is clearly getting frustrated at this exchange. It doesn't seem to be going the way he expected it to. Eric Eisen: And what if I told you that your position here in the SWF depended on it? Rich Money: Depended on saying “I'm sorry” or “I love you”? Either way, Eric, we would both know its a lie. My position here in the Supreme Wrestling Federation is more secure than yours at this point. You might share some genetics with the man who built the company... but I am one of the cornerstones of it today. Take me away and your precious SWF starts to crumble. Take away my two friends here as well and the Supreme brand is left with nothing. Just Jack Bruce, a couple of has-beens, and a bunch of kids. That's it. We are Supreme TV. You know it. I know it. Another loaded silence. Eric appears to be grinding his teeth in anger and frustration at this point. Eric Eisen: One more chance, Money... One more chance to make this right... Rich Money considers this and very slowly raises the microphone to his mouth. His lips part as he is about to speak, about to say the words that the General Manager is demanding to hear. Then he stops, his eyes starting down right at Eric Eisen. And Rich Money slowly lowers the microphone as his lips curl into his smirk. The crowd reacts with a “oohhhhh”. The crowd has been fairly quiet through the exchange, reacting but in a reserved manner. Both Money and Eisen are heels, and while the crowd is enjoying the exchange, neither side is getting any real support. Eric Eisen: You just made a mistake, Money. Rich Money: I've made mistakes before, Eric. I still manage to do alright. That's why I'm money. The SWF World Heavyweight champion drops the microphone and turns to lead his two friends back off the stage. He stops when Eisen calls out... Eric Eisen: We're not done here! Two things, Money... Rich Money stops but he doesn't turn to face the Interim General Manager. He very overtly keeps his back turned to the Supreme brand authority figure. Eric Eisen: One, you are going to regret that. You are going to pay. I don't care how money you think you are, I'll carve such a toll out of you that you'll end up broke... and money-less... That confident smile creeps back onto Hard Cash's mug. Remo and Newton are smiling as well, both with their backs to Double E. Eric Eisen: Two, you have a match tonight. I don't care how much you claim those ribs hurt, you will be in this ring tonight. You and Remo can face Sean McFly... and whoever he chooses to team with! The crowd pops to this one. The confident smirk on Money's face gives way to a sardonic smile, and he strolls the stage through the Supreme Gate. Grade: A
Peter Michaels: Big tag match! Who will Sean McFly choose to be his partner tonight? Grandmaster Bling: The Phunking Nation knows only this – it will not be Jack Bruce! The two tag teams battle in an even match, with intense fast-paced action. Neither team is able to control the action for long. The Silverbacks look good, but the Mexican revolutionary duo look great, as they push their opponents. It becomes clear that the Silverbacks are targeting the North American champion Antonio Marquez, working over the middleweight star with some impressive double team moves. But Los Diablos are up for it, and the match seems to escalate continually. The peak comes quickly, as Gino Montero gets tossed out of the ring by Mr. Anderson, then takes a malicious kick to the stomach from Mr. Jackson that referee Darren Smith conveniently misses. Marquez doesn't, and he dives through the ropes to the aid of his friend. Things get messy outside the ring, and Smith looks close to disqualifying both teams. Somehow, Sara Silver ends up in the ring, with Antonio Marquez. When the champion orders her out, she gets up in his face, then drives a knee into his revolutionary groin. Referee Smith doesn't miss that, and disqualifies The Silverbacks. Sara Silver and her trio hardly look upset over taking the loss, as Montero tries to comfort Marquez and his groin. Antonio Marquez Wins at 9:54 via Disqualification Grade: B Antonio Marquez + Gino Montero After being handed a microphone, it takes the SWF North American champion Antonio Marquez a few moments to gather himself enough to talk. He says that it will take more than a low blow to take down the champion, ese! The crowd pops. He then says that Rich Money was not the only person asked to give an apology this week who refused. The two revolutionaries talked to Eric Eisen earlier in the week and were asked to end their revolution. A truce that the Diablos were willing to accept... so long as Eric Eisen to make a public apology for the discrimination which the Eisen clan has heaped upon so many, not just the Diablos. To make right the wrongs, homes. But Eric Eisen refsued... and so La Revolución del Diablo continues... But the revolución will soon grow. It will soon engulf the whole brand. The flames of revolution will soon burn in every corner of the Supreme Wrestling Federation, homes. None will be safe, ese. None. Grade: A

Kirk Jameson vs Ash Campbell vs Darryl Devine This match provides solid action and gets a pretty decent crowd response for three Generation Supreme youngsters doing battle. Devine and Jameson look good, while Nemesis Junior mostly seems there to take a beating. He does that well, including a big series of knees to the body when Jameson locks in his Muay Thai clinch. He looks like he has it won when he goes for the pin, but Devine manages to intervene. The remainder of the match is between Devine and Jameson, who go back and forth between Jameson's snapping kicks and Devine's aerial attacks. The lovely Neptune twins seem conflicted as they pace about outside the ring, obviously not enjoying Jameson and Devine hammer away at each other. A Devine Intervention sends Jameson reeling out of the ring and he crashes hard into the security barrier, right as poor Ash makes his way back into the ring after the vicious knee assault from Jameson. He is greeted by a quickly flurry from Devine, followed up by a Devine Dream Drop. The former Shooting Star champion gets the pinfall on Campbell before Jameson can make his way back into the ring. It shows a highlight sequence of Badd Kompany in action, mostly in action as a tandem but also with in singles matches. Sean Deeley looks particularly good in the clip, showing moments from his losses to Sean McFly and Chris Morrisette, as well as his draw with Morrisette. The action clip fades.... An SWF logo sweeps across the screen from one side, the Badd Kompany logo from the other, and when they meet in the center, then screen fades to black.... The video fades back in to a black and white shot of an old school gymnasium, dark and dusty. Its dimly lit, with just a few rays of light streaming in through slender and dirty windows above the wood bleachers. You can almost smell the stale sweat. The shot pans across the big fieldstone, which probably seats a couple thousands. On the floor are wrestling mets, and a solitary shadow figure going through the motions of shooting in for take-downs, amateur wrestling style. The camera zooms in on the figure, and its Sean Deeley. It then begins to inter-cut interview segments with Deeley as he sits on those bleachers with shots of him wrestling against a phantom. Sean Deeley: This is the place. Jensen Fieldhouse. It was March of 2003. I was 18 years old, a freshman wrestling for Oklahoma. I was the youngest kid on the squad. No one gave me a chance. I was maybe 220 pounds, and wrestling against guys as big as 280. But I had a combination of quickness, technique, and strength that no one could match. This is the place where I won my first NCAA National Championship. In collegiate wrestling, they say the second toughest thing is winning a national championship. The toughest thing is defending one. But I did that too. In March of 2004, I beat the odds to win back-to-back National Championships. I could have stayed a Sooner and tried for four titles. I could have went after the Olympics and probably have a gold medal by now. But I wanted to be a true world champion. So I turned to professional wrestling. And one day, I will be the world champion in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. But first, I'm going to be a tag team champion. McClean and Sexy want to talk down to us, like we're a couple of kids. But this “kid” has been champion at everything he ever focused on. And right now, Sin Inc, I'm focused on you. The picture fades, then fades back in on another black and white long shot of a building interior. It is the inside of the Eisen Center, the home of Rhode Island Pro Wrestling and the Generation Supreme B-show. The show slowly pans across the bowl-shaped Supreme Arena, a sleek and modern 5000-seat arena that is part of the training complex. The arena is empty however, just one spotlight shining down into the ring. Standing in that ring, leaning against the ropes and looking out at the empty seats, is Joss Thompson. The video then begins to cut back and forth between a brief interview with Thompson, cut in with shots of him shadow wrestling in the ring. Joss Thompson: They call us kids. Kids. Honestly, I don't know if there is a more disrespectful thing you can call me. I've been in this business for almost a decade now. I've put in my time. I took bumps on indy shows they held anywhere they could – church basements, pool halls, strip clubs... There would be two dozen fans and we still put on a show. Then a chance came to jump the pond and try my luck in the United Kingdom. I did better there. Better than better. I won the two biggest titles there. Became one of the biggest stars. They love their footie, but I made them love wrestling too. But when the Supreme Wrestling Federation came calling... well, you don't turn down the SWF. They brought me here, had Professor Nero and his crew working with me to make sure I was ready. And here was where I worked with Sean for the first time. And we just click, you know? We got along really well outside the ring, but things just worked perfectly in the ring. They saw our potential and hyped our debut... and well, the SWF is a tough world at first. But we've figured things out. We found Hannah to give us some direction. And things started to come together. Sean and I know that if we stick together, there's nothing we can't accomplish. We prove that tonight... The music kicks up again and the video switches back to a rapid montage of in-ring action of Badd Kompany, plus shots of the lovely Hannah Potter. The video ends with the duos entrance sequence, as they come out through the Supreme Gate and pose, gesturing at their waists, while Hannah Potter kneels and poses in front of them. Its a bit odd, as both teams are heels, but the younger duo default to the babyface roles. They don't really change up their approach, using double-teams without hesitation and getting some distractions from Potter at ringside. Sin Inc, however, are simply detestable as they cheat with glee. They pull constantly heel tactics, whether its cheap shots, stalling, or ref distractions. After the opening minutes are even and exciting, McClean manages to slow down Thompson down with a nasty boot to the head while Joss is on the mat. The champions then isolate Thompson and spent several minutes working him over. Its a class approach, and it nearly works as they score several near pinfalls. Thompson shows plenty of fight, but Sin Inc are well versed at this approach. Deeley tagging in is teased several times, with Shane Stones managing to repeatedly miss seeing it. When Thompson finally flings himself halfway across the ring and just manages to clip his partners hand with his own, the crowd reacts significantly as Deeley springs over the top rope and launches himself at McClean. The technician wails away at the veteran, and he does the same to Sexy when the big man tries to jump in. The last few minutes of the match are a continual build, as the crowd senses what is happening as Badd Kompany take over the match – but no one quite expects it to come to the finish they want to see. Sexy tries to get himself disqualified as he grabs one of the title belts and tries to nail Deeley with it, but the challenger ducks and hits back with a big forearm, while Hannah Potter manages to distract referee Stones on the other side of the ring. The end finally comes after John McClean unwisely tries to get Deeley in his McClean McMount, which Deeley manages to reverse and spin into his Sure Shot arm bar. Sexy interferes before his partner can tap, but that just gives Deeley time to deliver his Shooting Flowison, and then he locks in the Sure Shot again. When Sexy tries to interfere again, he receives a diving forearm from Thompson, who dives off the top turnbuckle, sending Sexy flying through the ropes... As the crowd holds their breath, Deeley reefs hard on the arm bar and McClean taps out. While Thompson and Deeley begin to celebrate with their manager, Sexy and McClean berate referee Stones over some perceived slight. When the ref tries to take the belts from the time-keeper table, he ends up in a tug-of-war with Sexy over one of the belts, until Thompson jumps to the ring apron to claim them and Sexy scuttles away. The crowd pops again as Badd Kompany pose with the belts in the ring, while the now former champions sulk at ringside and slowly work their way up the ramp. Just in case any of the fans were under the impression that the new champions had turned into babyfaces in the match, they taunt Sin Inc with their newly-won belt, with Thompson going as far as giving them “the finger” before the veteran duo disappear through the Supreme Gate. The camera follows the new champions and their manager as they make their way up the ramp. They pose again on the stage, with real belts this time instead of imagined ones. As they disappear through the Supreme Gate, the camera continues to follow. Potter leads the duo down a couple of hallways. The trio stops at one hallway intersection. Deeley and Thompson start to head down one hallway, but Potter stops them, pointing in the opposite direction. The new SWF World Tag team champions look confused, but they follow, obviously unsure. Potter leads them to a closed locker room door. Without knocking, she opens in it, to reveal a small locker room filled with familiar faces... Randy Bumfhole, Zimmy Bumfhole, Marc DuBois, Steven Parker + Jay Chord Five of the most notable Generation Supreme stars are in the locker room and they seem to be waiting, in relative harmony. Its not terrible wrestling, just average and forgettable. Death Row are here for an obvious reason, and realizing that, they simply go through the motions. Despite a great deal of experience as a duo, they show off little in the way of teamwork. The less experienced brothers show much more in that regard, using quick team work to take down their bigger opponents. Knuckles taps out to the Proton Lock applied by the Keith brother without the facial hair, with Shady K making little effort to make the save. The Keith brothers first televised SWF win is not worth remembering. The sign beside it identifies it as that of Jack Bruce. Double E pounds on the door hard. He gives it a brief second, and then pounds on it again. When the door opens, standing there is a gorgeous brunette who looks just as annoyed as Eric. She is holding a clipboard and wearing some very tight and revealing yet still marginally classy clothing. When the General Manager demands to know who she is, he gets a rather snotty answer that she is Miss. Rodriguez and she is Mr. Bruce's personal assistant. Eisen demands to know where the Long Island Angel was supposed to be at an interview fifteen minutes ago and never showed up. What is going on, Eisen demands. Miss Rodriguez carefully explains that Mr. Bruce was “otherwise occupied” and could not abandon that for something as unimportant as an interview. The GM simply stares at her for a moment, as if waiting for punchline. He then demands to talk to Jack himself. The personal assistant checks her clipboard and informs the son of the owner that he's no on her list, so he can't be allowed inside the locker room. Eric asks if she's joking, so Miss Rodriguez goes through the motions of rechecking her list and repeats that he's not on it. Therefore, he is not allowed inside. When Double E tries to simply push past, he finds the slender beauty blocks his way and she's not so easy to shove aside. To make matters worse, she casually calls for security. The locker room door again swings open, and out step two massive security guards. Miss Rodriguez introduces them as Colossus and Atlas, Mr. Bruce's personal security retinue. If Mr. Eisen persists in trying to gain entrance, they will have to deal with him. Barely 5'8”, Double E has to stare up at the two giants, both well over six and a half feet tall and Colossus pushing seven feet. He looks past them, and for a brief moment, Jack Bruce can be seen inside his locker room. He's flat out on his stomach on a massage table, getting worked over by the expert hands of a pair of attractive masseuses. Its obvious that the Long Island Angel is flirting with those two and not paying any attention to the little drama at his front door. Setting his jaw in a hard line, Eric says that Bruce has five minutes to be in the ring for his match, then stalks away in a huff. Miss Rodriguez watches him walk away, a satisfied little sneer on her pretty face. His music is restarted and he still takes his time getting down to the ring. When the match gets started, its clear he doesn't take his young opponent very seriously, as he acts dismissively and tries to flirt with the Neptune twins through the opening minutes of the match. Bruce is less dismissive when the Australian comes after him with fists flying, hitting the veteran New Yorker with a big combo. Bruce ends up sliding out of the ring and stalling. He gets hit a few times again when he gets back int the ring, so when he escapes again, Swoop chases. Its a mistake, as Bruce circles the ring and then slides back under the ropes, but boots McCarthy in the head when Swoop follows. Bruce controls the action, but McCarthy gets the crowd behind him as he battles back. It doesn't last long, as Bruce hits his 315-pound opponent with a big drop kick and shows some impressive strength as he puts Swoop through his Long Island Trio series of suplexes. The Welcome to NYC is followed up by the New York Minute famedropper that used to thrill fans but now brings naught but hatred. Bruce casually covers his opponent for the three count. The young trio look good, particularly Newton. Vessey and Valentine show off impressive teamwork as well. Not quite to the same smooth precision as The New Wave, but not too far off either. The obvious star of the match, however, is Gilmore. The story of the battle is a burgeoning rivalry between the two Canadians, with Newton focusing on Gilmore. But Angry is more than up to the task of taking on the talented youngster. The match starts out a display of technical wrestling and teamwork, but gradually descends into a brawl that grows more chaotic as times goes on. Shane Stones is almost dizzy as he spins in circles trying to maintain some control. Things become outright chaos, with Gilmore and Newton brawling in the middle of the ring, neither the legal man, while the two tag teams battling around the ring. Playboy Jake Sawyer and Ash Campbell end up getting into it with Jessie, with Campbell engaging in what amounts to a slap fight with Gilmore's wife. Gilmore is distracted, as expected, and Newton hits the veteran with a snap suplex, then gets up him for his Aces High finisher. The experienced Gilmore grabs the ropes and manages to get himself off Newton's shoulders. Gilmore is then hauled out onto the apron by Vessey, who is hammered by Scout for the effort. When Gilmore climbs back to his feet, he finds his face meeting the metal briefcase that holds Newton's Sure Shot contract. The briefcase wins. Technically Gilmore also wins, as referee Stones immediately calls an end to the match and awards it to Team Gilmore. The ref saw Sawyer hand the briefcase to Newton but did not mange to intervene in time. The Four Kings and their manager look pretty pleased with themselves as they stand outside the ring, with Newton holding up both his briefcase and his SWF Generations title as if victorious. Gilmore seethes in the ring, a small trickle of blood dripping down his forehead. But his partner is not to be seen... yet... The amazingly athletic 245-pounder readies himself for the match by doing some stretches that would likely make a gymnast struggle. Its not outright dominance in the early going, but the brand new tandem show off great teamwork. They have a sense of timing together that belies their lack of experience, where as the similar sense of teamwork and timing that Money and Remo usually have is simply off. Its down to the world champion, as he does not look his usual self in the ring. He moves gingerly and reacts with pain to even simple moves. Basically, he spends the whole match selling the rib injury. So it basically falls to Remo to do most of the work against McFly and Tornado, two of the best in the SWF. Even the Alpha Dog can't do it all himself. The Tiger and the Tornado isolate Money at one point and spend some time working over the world champion, much to the delight of the crowd. But you can't keep Money down and he battles back against Tornado, willingly himself through pain with gritted teeth. He finally tags in Remo, who flies at both opponents. The Alpha Dog and the American Tiger engage in a great two-minute brawling sequence in and out of the ring, as the crowd roars. The Arena is insanely loud as they trade blows in the center of the ring... and then the crowd goes quiet. The battles stops as well. A slow crowd reaction builds, escalating into a roaring hatred. Its directed not at Money and Remo, but at Jack Bruce who has emerged from the Supreme Gate. He slowly makes his way down the ramp, an intense loook on his face. Remo takes advantage, hitting McFly with a quick flurry and a series of knees. You can't keep McFly down, and he battles back, managing to tag in Tornado. Then it all comes apart for the new team. As Tornado starts to battle Remo, Jack Bruce suddenly grabs McFly off the apron, pulls him the floor, and drills him with a series of punches and forearms. Rich Money works a standard referee distraction as that happens, and Remo nails a distracted Troy Tornado with a Hit & Run double knees and then single-arm suplex, followed by a Lumbar Puncture, and finally The Destroyer. By this point, referee Darren Smith has spotted The Long Island Angel battling with McFly outside the ring, but Remo is pinning Tornado at the same time. Momentarily unsure of what to do, Smith counts the three count. Looking rather upset, McFly slides back into the ring, climbing to the second rope to invite Bruce into the ring. To settle things right now. The crowd certainly likes the idea, as they don't want to wait until the coming pay per view either. The Long Island Angel declines the offer, making some obvious gestures that he just got one up on the American Tiger. McFly doesn't like that so much, as he is agitated enough that he seems ready to go after Bruce, but Tornado holds him back. Jack Bruce has a laugh... Thanks for all the awards nominations so far, guys. Keep em coming! On this one, I made sure to book any segment that required on-screen talking to be based on Entertainment. After a discussion in the Diary Writing Tips thread, I realized I should use segments based on Overness less frequently than I do. So on this one, only the final two segments - the McFly & Tornado entrance to Power of Love and then the post-match staredown - were rated enitrely on Overness, as there was no talking. I think the Badd Kompany title celebration bit was even rated on Entertainment, when it probably could have been Overness (I planned to have talking, but didn't end up writing in that way). Anyway, my basic point was that it really didn't change much with the angle grades. As well, doesn't look like many expected BK to take the belts. Can understand that. But they were pretty close to Sin Inc in terms of overness. They obvoiusly didn't turn face, but that might still be coming. I expect TigerKinney should be happy about the title win, simply for the fact that Ms. Potter will be on-screen even more now.
As it has said before, all Angles are rated on Overness a bit, even when it's rated on something else. In any case, Joanne Rodriguez! Woo!!!
Yeah, Overness is always part of the equation. And it seems like a fairly big part, even with a worker being rated on Entertainment. As for Jo-R, I figured you'd be happy to see her. I have a fun role planned for her. Just don't expect to see her in the ring too soon. Eventually, perhaps, but not for some time yet.

Woo, BK are champions. :p I can't claim to have seen it coming, but as soon as I read the pre-match promo I knew it would be their night. Not that the promo was especially epic or anything but it was just the kind of promo that set the scene perfectly for what was to come. Also, major props for Jack Bruce's revival as a rockstar heel, rather than a younger Christian Faith clone with his catchphrase and... yeah, his catchphrase. At first I went off him a bit when he turned heel, he seemed to lose all of his appeal (necessarily so, due to how it happened). Now, with his personal assistant and bodyguards and his re-discovered swagger, he's baaack. :D This show definitely made me want to see McFly/Bruce.

Badd Kompany's title win was suprising, though the great thing about it is that it didn't feel forced, like it was a shock for a sake of being a shock. They earned credibility when they won the 4-way Tag match at Break Like The Wind (without checking back through the fed, I think it was that PPV). Of course them winning the belts, means more screen time for Hannah Potter-which is full of win ! Even though they haven't turned face yet, I see them as a sort of tweener team at this moment in time (though the game obviously doesn't officially recognize tweeners). They've been gradually turning more face, without actually coming over all Christian Faith, I'm pretty sure flipping the bird at the universally hated Sin Inc would have garnered a face reaction from some sections of the crowd.

Though I didn't expect them to win the belts on TV, it's awesome that they did. That was a pretty good mark-out moment for me (not quite enough for a nomination though). Their debut hype and their actual debut was definitely as heels, but I've just been behind them as faces the whole time. In fact I keep forgetting they're heels until I check the front page or someone mentions it!
You are going to have put a lid on her appearances. Her combination of high sex appeal AND star quality is going to skyrocket her popularity up, like it did with Champagne Lover.
I'm okay with that. If I do go through with the Vixxen's division, I have no problem with one of the likely stars coming in with high overness. No problem at all...
Loved seeing J-Ro, but I'm think I marked out harder for Hell's Bouncer being apart of Jack's backup. And and Sean Deeley with a title is ALWAYS a good thing. :D
A much improved Hell's Bouncer, I might add. He's a guy I definitely see with a future. I see a bit of a Disel role happening for him potentially... As for Deeley... Well, he was one of the two Generation Supreme signings that I expected to be a top guy for me before too long. I don't think its tough to figure out who the other would be... Its funny you mention that - when I was planning the show and booking it, I somehow envisioned the Badd Kompany video promo as being pretty epic. Not monster, but at least the highlight segment of the show. Then I started writing it it out and realized the opening promo was so much better (in my opinion) and more important. Still, good to know that the promo did what it was suppose to do. As for Jack Bruce, I'm happy to hear that. I was a touch iffy on that turn. I figured the character change would work, but still... its tough making a big change to one of your main guys. Bruce's new "support system" should make things interesting. The new Bruce isn't quite as fun to write as Money... but it might turn out to be close. Before I really started putting together a proper long-term booking document, I figured I would go from a heel team (Sin Inc) to a face team, to BK. When I really timed everything out, I realized it would mean pushing everything back, or really short title reigns. So I figured I would go direct heel-to-heel. A three-way match would've made sense... but I thought this was more interesting. I didn't want to move the belts until Thompson and Deeley had the overness to make it work. Realized about late October that they needed more than overness - they needed some diary momentum, too (a few prediction comments made me realize that). Hence the PPV four-way win - no one really figured on that, and it made things interesting. I was going to wait for the PPV and probably work it into a three-way. But I like the way things worked. Given the number of comments, I think it did work. And I am quite happy it didn't seem forced... As for the face/heel thing...
Though I didn't expect them to win the belts on TV, it's awesome that they did. That was a pretty good mark-out moment for me (not quite enough for a nomination though). I have not yet turned Hannah Potter heel, just because I don't see her as being heelish - her distractions are more unintentional than anything. She's just too damned cute to be evil! They've definitely evolved into tweeners... which I normally don't like a whole lot. They ended up being kinda goofy in their search for a manager, and I didn't want them to be too heelish in the ring, as they would probably seem just a younger version of Sin Inc. There are basically two things keeping me from turning them face. One, I don't think it would really change my characterization of them much, but it would take away the potential from them to pull out the cheap, cheating heel routine when required. Two, the most interesting teams for them to feud with for the belts are face. There is still a chance they actually switch before too long. For the moment, they remain that "likable heel" role... As marking for it, I've come to realize and accept that its not so easy to put together those big moments that really generate a big reaction for most readers. Such as the Sean McFly debut. So I'm happy to get any reaction. It seems like one had a few for some readers - the big one being the Badd Kompany title win, but even stuff like J-Ro and and Hell's Bouncer gets some reaction. And I feel that as a writer, getting any sort of reaction on a show like this means I'm doing something right...
Whoo!!! Huey Lewis and the News!!! Er, uh I mean great show as always BP! :D
Thanks. I was questioning whether to bother with music. Obviously not as fun as "Eye of the Tiger" for McFly's debut. Still, I thought it was fun. Someone suggested it McFly's theme music in the "Cornellverse the Music" thread. I gave it very brief consideration before picking "Eye of the Tiger". But when it came time to find music for the new tag team... well, it was just too fun.

Best Tag Team of the Year Badd Kompany. More than any other team, they've really progressed this year. Best Promo of the Year Money in Vegas. Virtually every spot in this category could be Money, let's be honest. Best Feud of the Year Bruce/Vengeance takes this for me Best Stable of the Year Hard Cash (or whatever - Money/Remo/Ace). The Golden Faction would have got my vote, but when did any of themlast win a match? Best Match of the Year Money/McFly. An obvious choice, maybe, but Money became a megastar with this win. Best Show of the Year The Supreme Challenge Best Non-Wrestler of the Year Rich M... Oh, wait. Eric Tyler. Best Newcomer of the Year Hannah Potter. Come on... Best Young Wrestler of the Year Ace Newton. If anyone else wins this, it's a travesty - the biggest breakout star and still a good guy. Best Babyface of the Year Chris Morrisette. In a diary that loves its heels, Morrisette has been the proverbial knight in shining armour. Best Heel of the Year Rocky Golden. A close one to call, but the Golden Faction is still a major threat despite never winning a match - and a lot of that is thanks to Golden. The perfect SWF worker. Biggest Moment of the Year Return of The American Tiger Best Overall Wrestler of the Year Rich Money. Who else comes close? To be honest, Remo's probably second here as I can just imagine him standing behind Money and oozing badass (which sounds like a medical condition - Oozing Badass) in every segment, not to mention he's been in the best match of pretty much every show, and he's been involved in most of the big moments... and when he and Money go at it, it's going to be epic on a scale rarely, if ever, before seen. Not a recognised category, but Pete Hall has been a star and deserves a mention somewhere.

I find it that you have a hard time keeping a lid on the more "appealing" stars. :p
As for Deeley... I think it's believable him being a "Rock Star" and whatnot, that would have an "entourage" if he was heel. It's just a different emphasis on his gimmick, if you ask me. At least he doesn't go "Show Time!" when uses the restroom anymore. :p
