SWF: Generation Supreme

Recommended Posts

I agree entirely BigPapa, thats pure wrestling psychology manifested. I think it was Ric Flair they used to say could make a broom handle look good in the ring, if thats the case, imagine the experience gained from working with him. And likewise McFly in particular, an opportunity to learn the basics of how to work the crowd, how to be convincing against a big name and by role of association have people think you're comparable. I don't think it necessarily rushes them, because then the object is when to put that big upset in that keeps the main eventer secure in his role and puts a major boost on the youngster. Outstanding booking, legend.

I am Peter Michaels and I am here with Grandmaster Bling and Jerry Eisen. Jerry Eisen: That's me! Peter Michaels: Of course is it, Jerry.
Eric Eisen + Runaway Train In-Ring Promo The show begins with Interim General Manager Eric Eisen coming down to the ring, accompanied by his loyal "sidekick" Runaway Train. The duo make their way into the ring and neither look particularly happy. Eisen begins by saying that he wants to address last week. He wants to be open and honest. He admits that he did believe that Bruce the Giant was on the Eisen side and that the giant would defeat Rich Money. He truly believed that Bruce was on his side. So yes, Rich Money got one over on Double E. Which just reinforces the GM's belief that someone as dishonest and deceitful as Rich Money should not be the SWF World Heavyweight champion and figurehead of the brand. The crowd approves of this sentiment, but its clear that it's the statement they support, not the General Manager himself. The youngest Eisen muses that perhaps the Generation Supreme youngsters have it correct and it is time for a new generation of Supreme Wrestling Federation stars.... Speaking of which, the SWF Generations championship will not be retired, as some people have suggested. That belt is an important representation of the young stars of tomorrow. So in the month of January, a new SWF Generations champion will be crowned. Eisen has yet to determine how a new champion will be determined, but it will have to be a way that will give a chance to plenty of the talented young Generation Supreme stars. As for Generation Supreme stars, the General Manager says that current SWF World Tag Team champions Badd Kompany have been challenged by several of the top tag teams in the SWF – Valiant & Giedroyc, The New Wave, and former champions Sin Inc. Though he isn't convinced they really deserve the chance, the former champions Sin Inc will get a shot at the tag belts next week on Supreme TV. Sexy and McClean will get that title shot regardless of what happens tonight against Los Diablos... but Eisen admits he is going to look rather stupid if Sin Inc should lose this week. Sexy and McClean don't want to be making the General Manager look stupid, he warns. As for who will face Badd Kompany for the titles at the coming January pay per view – assuming the young duo still have the belts – that is yet to be determined. In fact, Eisen says, much of the When Hell Freezes Over pay per view has yet to be decided, at least for the Supreme brand. The options are open. He has already been approached by quite a number of wrestlers and teams, requesting matches. But everything is still open as of yet. Heading into the new year of 2009, everything on the Supreme brand is wide open, Eisen tells the fans with a smile. He has one last piece of business to address, which is a rumor that has been floating about for weeks now. Rumors regarding a change in the announcers booth on Supreme TV. There is indeed such a change coming. It will happen next week. Eisen cannot say more than that at this time, however. As the duo was escorted in by an unhappy crowd, they are also escorted out by the same. The match is open and action-filled, without any breaks in the action. The match is a sprint, featuring little in the way of near-finishes. Those expecting Mr. Hill to protect the young champion Newton in the match are proven wrong early, as the Silverback goes after Newton in the early going. The champion proves up to it, however. Newton shows off his athleticism and diverse skills, though his opponents have their moments as well. The 21-year old Canadian is the clear heel in the match, as he uses some cheap tactics and earns the fans ire by stalling outside the ring while Guide and Hill work each other over. The champion is back into the action soon enough, taking control of the match until Hill ducks under a big leaping shoulder block, which sees Newton instead crash unexpectedly into Guide. Instead of going for an immediate pin attempt or at least working over the champion while he's done, the Silverback instead focuses on The New Waver. It gives Newton a chance to recover. Just as Hill gets his tag team nemesis up for a suplex, Newton nails him in the middle of the back. Hill is sent tumbling out of the ring while Guide drops awkwardly to the canvas. In a flash, the champion has him up and delivers his Aces High Go-2-Sleep. No one has kicked out of it yet, and Guide isn't to. Anyone thinking there was cooperation between Mr. Hill and Newton might think again after the Silverback gives the champion a long, hard stare as the youngster celebrates his title defense. Ace Newton Wins at 12:11 via Pinfall Grade: B+

Payne vs Darryl Devine This one starts exactly as everyone expects – with Payne dominating the much smaller Devine. The smaller, younger wrestler bumps all over for the big monster. Payne almost gets himself disqualified when he chokes Devine in the corner, which leads to Garcia yelling at the masked man. Garcia goes so far as to climb up onto the ring apron to lecture his wrestler. This gives Devine time to recover, and he ducks under a charging attack from Payne. Devine then begins to use his quickness to avoid his opponent, countering with quick attacks. It seems to frustrate Payne more than actually hurt him, but it is effective. Devine rolls out of the corner when the masked monster charges, resulting in the big man taking the turnbuckle hard to the chest, after which he takes a rolling kick to the back of the skull from his smaller opponent. Payne hits the mat hard, rolling under the ropes at the urging of his manager Garcia. There is no respite outside the ring, as Devine leaps through the ropes onto his big opponent, earning a big pop from the crowd. Its a bad move, as the big man is up first and he rag-dolls Devine about before tossing him back into the ring. The 6'9”, 350-pound Payne positions Devine on the mat and then climbs up to the top turnbuckle, the crowd hushes as the big man launches himself into the the Payne Bomb, the moonsault that will surely crush the motionless Darryl Devine... But the crowd roars as Devine just manages to move out of the way, finding just enough left in himself to grab Payne's massive leg and pin him. The crowd erupts as Devine gets the upset victory. Darryl Devine Wins at 8:44 via Pinfall Grade: B- Darryl Devine, Payne + Adrian Garcia Post-Match Attack Payne is up quickly after the loss and he is clearly irate. Devine is smart enough to clear out of the ring rather than celebrate his win. Adrian Garcia jumps into the ring, trying to calm the big man. Payne roars, lashing out at referee Shane Stones, who barely manages to avoid his grasp. Payne leaps out of the ring, raging as he smashes the timekeepers table. Several SWF officials try to calm the big man, but it only seems to make him angrier. Devine has made his way up the ramp, away from the carnage occurring at ringside. He grins and gives one more first pump to the crowd before disappearing. The camera follows, moving just ahead of Devine as he walks down the backstage hallway. He grins, then grimaces as he rubs his neck, then grins again. Suddenly the happily victorious formerly heartbroken young man is spent flying into the camera. As the camera spins, Payne can be seen. The masked big man gets ready to charge again as Devine looks stunned after bouncing off the concrete wall. Down the hallway, behind Payne, Adrian Garcia and a host of SWF officials can be seen running towards the scene. It doesn't appear they will arrive in time as Payne charges at Devine again and hammers him hard into the wall. The big man then grabs Devine by the throat and lifts him off the floor... The next step could end Devine... except.... Swoop McCarthy, Kirk Jameson, Jen Neptune + Kathy Neptune ...it never happens. Payne is knocked flying himself by another big body crashing into his huge form. Devine slumps to the floor. It was Swoop McCarthy making the save, with Kirk Jameson following right behind his tag team partner. The Generation Supreme duo throw themselves at Payne with abandon, backing the big man away from Devine. The sexy Neptune twins rush in, helping the wobbled Devine to his feet, then keeping him from going after Payne. By this point, Garcia and the officials have arrived. The SWF officials get between the big man and the young duo, making sure the situation doesn't escalate further. Still raging, Payne roars at them all. Garcia attempts to calm him down. The best that Garcia can manage is to lead his masked monster away from the scene. Grade: B-
Peter Michaels: That damned Payne! The early going is all Diablos, as the Mexican pair showcase the quickness and skills that make them so exciting in the ring. Its all the Sin Inc can do to keep up. Marquez and Montero show some pretty good quick tag action, but its the cheap double-teaming of Sexy and McClean that gives them the advantage. The former tag champions isolate the youngster Montero and beat him down mercilessly. The 18-year old sells everything beautifully. The crowd gets behind the obvious eventual hot tag, as he comes close time and again, as Marquez urges both his partner and the crowd on. When it finally happens with a desperate dive across the ring that shows off Montero's athleticism, the crowd erupts. So does Marquez, and he comes in brawling. Despite his prodigious aerial and mat skills, the Mexican star decides to just throw down instead. He has Sin Inc reeling, and after a few moments to recover, Montero gets involved again as well. The young man gets a pop when he goes up to the top turnbuckle and gets epic height on a tuck that he somehow turns into a missile drop kick. Montero tags in, and he has the obvious crowd support as he presses the action against Joe Sexy. The veteran can't seem to counter with anything that connects. The crowd senses it coming, as Montero hits some quick aerial moves. The Montero hits the Destiny Explosion on Sexy, and with Marquez tying up McClean outside the ring, Montero is able to roll up Sexy and get the three count for the win. Gino Montero Wins at 12:11 via Pinfall Grade: A Joe Sexy, John McClean, Antonio Marquez + Gino Montero Post-Match Brawl Antonio Marquez and Gino Montero celebrate their win, to the crowds delight. Sin Inc are outside the ring, looking distraught at making GM Eric Eisen look stupid, as they head into their shot at the tag title belts on a loss. The delight of the fans turns to anger as Sin Inc slide back into the ring and attack the Diablos from behind. They begin to beat down the Generation Supreme stars. Its fairly one-sided, as the crowd throws hatred at the former SWF World Tag Team champions. Then the crowd roars as helps arrives, racing out through the Supreme Gate... But its not some of the Diablo's Generation Supreme cohorts who run down to the ring to make the save. Instead, its another pair of former SWF World Tag Team champions... Valiant + Giedroyc Sin Inc slide out of the ring to meet Valiant & Giedroyc at ringside. The two tag teams battle. In the ring, Marquez and Montero make their way to their feet, watching the action just outside the ring. They make no move to intervene, however. The revolutionary duo realize that Valient & Giedroyc aren't out there for the rescue, but for their own purposes – intending to establish themselves at the top contenders for the SWF World Tag Team titles. Ringside officials work to restore order, as Los Diablos watch from the ring. The team of officials are successful in separating the two teams. Suddenly Marquez and Montero grin and point at the top of the ramp... Joss Thompson + Sean Deeley The SWF World Tag Team champions are standing on the stage, watching the scene and grinning. They wear their SWF World Tag Team championship belts but do not have their much-loved little manager with them. Now established as one of the most popular and talented tag teams in the whole SWF, the duo get something of a mixed reaction. They are still heels and most boo... but a few fans cheer the talented pair. The four Generation Supreme stars grin at the veteran pairs focusing on each other. The Diablos get a pretty big pop as they end the segment with a perfectly-tandem Mexi-Power salute. Grade: B

Mr. Anderson vs Scout This one is a back-and-forth sprint, with both men getting plenty of offense and neither maintaining the advantage for long. The two manages – Sara Silver and Jessie – keep each other from being involved in any way. There is plenty of quick mat action, everything being quickly reversed. The crowd enjoys the action. Anderson goes for his Ammo Dump double-underhook face-buster but gets countered into a rolling suplex bridged for a surprise pin. Anderson kicks out a breath after the three, leading to the Silverback and Sara Silver arguing with referee Jay Fair. The feud between The New Wave and The Silverbacks is clearly not over yet. Scout Wins at 9:01 via Pinfall Grad: B
Peter Michaels: That was hardly what I would call a decisive win. Grandmaster Bling: The bad blood still be boiling. Its not a squash, but Flex spends precious little time in control of the action. It would be over quicker, if not for Garcia cheating a bit to keep things lively. Its just delaying the inevitable, as Giedroyc takes the win after his Crashing On kneeling jaw breaker puts Flex down. Giedroyc Wins at 8:53 via Pinfall Grade: C+

Angry Gilmore, Jessie, Guide + Scout In-Ring Promo Angry Gilmore emerges as his music hits, earning the Canadian a big reception. The middleweight is in his ring gear, ready for his coming match. The fans seem almost as happy to see Jessie as well as both members of The New Wave. The foursome make their way into the ring, with Gilmore grabbing a microphone. He looks like he has some serious intent tonight and launches into one of his trademark rants. Angry Gilmore: Eight years. Eight long hard years I've been in the Supreme Wrestling Federation now. I've had ups and downs during that eight years. I've had highs, like holding both the North American championship and the World Tag Team champions twice apiece. Like meeting Jessie here. I've had lows, like allowing myself to manipulated by Rich Money or aligning myself with trash with Joe Sexy. Those highs and lows brought me here. It brought all of us here. Gilmore stops, pointing directly at the center of the ring, beneath his feet, as if he means it completely literally. Angry Gilmore: All of that has led to me being right here. It has led to me having the support of the most beautiful woman in the world. It has led to the best tag team in the entire world watching my back. It has led to me being the best I've ever been in my entire life, both as a person and a wrestler. The ranting Canadian stops, grinning. Angry Gilmore: It has led to me being the number one contender for the SWF World Heavyweight championship. The crowd roars that they approve. Angry Gilmore: I know a lot of things. But what I don't know is what I need to do to make those in the back realize that. I know it. You all know it. And Rich Money knows it. Trust me, Money will do whatever he can to avoid facing me one-on-one in the ring. He might claim he fears nothing, but why else do you hire a bodyguard but out of fear? Why else do you hire Sara Silver's thugs to harass Team Gilmore? Its fear. The crowd clearly agrees. Angry Gilmore: When Hell Freezes Over is two weeks away. Rich Money has no opponent. I have no opponent. I've beaten Remo. I've beaten Ace Newton. I've beaten Rocky Golden. Who else do I need to prove myself against? I am the number one contender. Eric, make it happen! There is suddenly a huge pop from the crowd. Sean McFly The American Tiger Sean McFly has emerged through the Supreme Gate. No music, no pyro, and not even a microphone. He simply inserts his presence into Gilmore's claim by walking out onto the stage. Clear, heart-felt laughter that can only belong to one man... Rich Money + Remo Rich Money strolls out onto the stage. Rich Money: Well, we all know that in the Supreme Wrestling Federation, there is only one thing you can do when you have a disagreement... Fight about it! The crowd roars their approval at the suggestion, while Money and Remo have themselves a bit more of a laugh. Grade: A
Peter Michaels: McFly... So is Jessie, along with Hannah Potter for Thompson. It adds a bit of an edge to the match. Whether its the presence of his former mentor that drives Angry Gilmore or simply a desire to cement his status as the number one contender, he comes out at the bell extremely motivated. The Canadian veteran comes out flying at the Generation Supreme youngster. There are several near falls within the first two minutes. Thompson, however, is resilient and he begins to battle back. The middle part of the match goes back and forth, getting the crowd ever-more worked up. Gilmore gets fancy and goes for a moonsault, but misses, coming down awkwardly on his left knee. Thompson doesn't hesitate and begins to work over the injury, as Gilmore sells it hard. The crowd clearly doesn't like the heel tactics of Thompson, who is more concerned about scoring a big win than playing nice and fair. After a couple of minutes of having his knee worked over, Gilmore battles back on a gimped leg. He ends up taking Thompson's Clean Cutter spinning back bomb suplex but kicks out of the pin attempt. Awkward on one leg, Gilmore soon brings the tag team champion down with his Anger Management forward Russian legsweep. Gilmore rolls onto Thompson for the pin and gets the three count. The Canadian doesn't celebrate, but heads for the backstage area while hobbing. Rich Money and Remo mock the winner with some sarcastic clapping, jeering the defeated Generation Supreme star at the same time. Generation Supreme is not just about wanting respect and a place at the top. No, its about changing the business. Things will never be the same. Randy Bumfhole takes the microphone next. Dude, if you look at the veterans of the SWF – names like Christian Faith, Skull DeBones, Pistol Pete Hall, Chris Caufield, Bryan Holmes, Big Cat Brandon, Rocky Golden, or even Steve Frehley – they are great wrestlers. But they they excel in one area. They don't excel in all aspects. The best of Generation Supreme do that – they bring every aspect together as one. They offer the kind of exciting, fast, and diverse wrestling that few others in the world can. The kind of wrestling that is going to revolutionize this business. The wrestling world will never be the same, Marc DuBois promises. It starts tonight. Sean McFly and Troy Tornado boast the kind of rounded skills that few others in the SWF can boast of. They are two of the very best in the world. Tonight, DuBois and Parker are going to beat them and prove to the world just what Generation Supreme is all about. This is a war. The ring is a battleground. Tonight, McFly and Tornado become casualties of the war. Randy B gets the microphone back. It doesn't end there, man. This is only the start, he promises. Because Generation Supreme has asked SWF management for matches against the biggest names at When Hell Freezes Over. Rich Money, Remo, Jack Bruce, Sean McFly, Angry Gilmore, Troy Tornado... They've all been challenged. If management is smart and the veterans aren't scared, Generation Supreme will take the war to another level at the pay per view. Z-Bum finishes up, promising that its going to be, like, awesome and stuff! Grade: B

Remember Tomorrow vs The Flying Tigers The fans in Tennessee have the Dust Bowl rocking for this one, before it ever kicks off. The young duo of DuBois and Parker get serious heel heat, while the roof gets torn off the old wrestling palace when McFly and Tornado emerge. The match starts hot and fast, with DuBois and McFly going after each other with everything. Its a brilliant opening sprint, showcasing their combined athleticism and the complete package of in-ring skills both posses. Its a frantic pace, which continues even they tag in their respective partners, though Tornado and especially Parker aren't quite as capable of maintaining things like the opening duo could. There isn't too much in terms of quick tag action or tandem action in the early going. The match changes up after about five minutes, when DuBois is on the apron and he manages to catch McFly with a vicious kick to the middle of the back when he comes into the ropes. The thud of the kick can be heard over the fans and it crumples The American Tiger. The Generation Supreme duo then take over, showing off timing and teamwork the defies their limited experienced together. They work together to keep McFly isolated on their half of the ring and they beat him down. The young stars show no mercy to the beloved veteran. No one sells better than Sean McFly, and he shows that off here as he takes shot after shot. The big moment is when Parker gets McFly up on his shoulders, allowing to DuBois to come off the top turnbuckle to drill The American Tiger with a hard lariat. McFly flips all the way around on his way down to the mat, landing hard on his face. Tornado stands on the opposite apron, look concerned. He jumps in several times to try to minimize the damage to his partner and friend, but keeps being escorted back to the apron by referee Shane Stones. Tornado instead works at getting the frothing crowd to vocalize their support for McFly. It works. But its not the hot tag that The American Tiger is working for, but the fighting comeback himself. He reverses a suplex attempt by Parker, and then begins to mount his comeback. Its a Christian Faith level comeback, urged along by the roaring crowd. McFly begins to duck and avoid everything Parker and DuBois throw at him, culminating in him throwing a bit cross body block off he ropes across both opponents. McFly rolls to his feet with a big fist pump. The roof is torn off... again. The last five minutes of the match is another sprint. It features plenty of quick tag and double-team action, with Tornado and McFly showing that they work just as well as tandem as the younger duo. The Tigers have a brilliant moment, as Tornado catches Parker trying to climb to the top turnbuckle and comes up underneath him, so The Future ends up on his shoulders. McFly races across the ring, leaping up onto the top turnbuckle in one leap, then smoothly leaping off into a spinning Enzuigiri kick to Parker's head, which Tornado follows up by driving Parker down into a face buster. DuBois tops that a few moments later with a perfectly executed running snap belly-to-belly suplex on Tornado, which Parker follows up a half second later with a simple but perfectly-timed leg drop. McFly tops them all when Parker and DuBois are outside the ring for a brief moment, and McFly takes advantage by leaping onto them both with a springboard shooting star press which gets the entire arena onto their feet. Moments later, Tornado surprises Parker with his Star Maker forearm and gets the pin. The crowd roars their approval for all four men after the epic tag team match, one of the best seen in American wrestling in some time. A few fans seem surprised when the matches finishes, as the show still has some time-remaining. When they depart, fans realize why there is still time remaining. The quarter of Rich Money, Remo, Ace Newton, and Bruce the Giant make their way down to the ring after the epic tag team match. The fans were hot for the match, and they are hot for the foursome... though in the complete opposite manner. A shower of hatred escorts them down to the ring. The loud vocal hatred from the fans continues for a bit, preventing Money from talking into the microphone he has. Remo also has a mic, while Ace Newton and “Biggie Smalls” mull around behind them. Rich Money: Well now, we're glad to see all of you fans as well. I cannot begin to tell you all how much I enjoy coming to Tennessee. But I didn't come out here to remind how boring your forgotten little corner of this great nation is. No, there are some things that need to be addressed. Remo: Some things need to be said. Rich Money: Indeed. First off, when I told the backstage staff that we were going to come out here tonight to say a few things, they told us we could come out first. To start the show. How do you disrespect the reigning SWF World Heavyweight champion and his friends like that? I made it clear that the last things that fans would should see on Supreme TV to close out the 2008 is their world champion... and even Little Dick couldn't argue with that. Remo: So apparently he doesn't get everything wrong. Rich Money: Just most things. Now something has been bothering me over the past week. Since we brought Biggie Smalls into our ranks and became a foursome, it seems that some out there seem intent to label us. To call us a stable and give us some type of name. We are not a stable. We are four friends, who share common interests and goals. Remo: Well, a name wouldn't be a bad idea. Just so they have something simple to call us when they talk about how awesome we are. Rich Money: Alright, alright... What were some of the suggestions again? The Alpha Dog makes a show of digging a sheet of paper out of his pocket. Remo: Uh, let's see here. The fans gave us quite a few suggestions. Uh, Elite? Rich Money: It's been taken. Next. Remo: The Alpha Males. Rich Money: Too girly. Next. Remo: Evolution. Rich Money: DuBois would sue us for copyright infringement. Plus its a dumb name. Next. Remo: The Four Horsemen. Rich Money: A biblical reference? Really? What, are we in the Bible Belt or something? Remo: Actually, we are. Rich Money: Oh yeah. Its a stupid name anyway. Plus I hate horses. Next. Remo: The Four Emperors. Rich Money: Illogical. By definition, there can be only one emperor. One Supreme ruler. And we all know that's me. Next. Remo: The Nature Boys. Rich Money: I am not even going to bother explaining all the things wrong with that suggestion. Whoever made that suggestion, you should be ashamed of yourself. Next. Remo: Uh, last one. The New World Order. Rich Money: Odor? Remo: Order. Rich Money: New World Order. It has a certain ring to it. But we're not out to change the world. We're out to maintain it. Things are exactly as they should be in the world right now. Money on top. My friend and my protégée by my side, and Biggie watching my back. And that's how things are going to say. Remo and Newton nod in agreement. Bruce simply stands there. The fans boo a bit. Its not the usually heat that Money and Remo draw, though its not because they are not hated. The fans simply seem pretty burned out after all the in-ring action. Rich Money: There is only one thing you need to call us. The Best. The Best of the Best. More agreement in the ring. More boos from the fans, but its not the drowning hatred that Money and his cohorts often earn. Rich Money: Now, about this little “Generation Supreme” war. I can understand where all these kids are coming from. Wanting to prove yourself. Wanting respect. I would like to think I've always treated the future of this business with the respect and dignity they deserve. I took Ace here under my wing, didn't I? But don't think that respect is never ending. You come after what is mine and that respect won't save you. There are already people talking about how 2008 was the “Year of Generation Supreme”. About how the young stars moved themselves to the top and started this little “war”. But they didn't reach the very top. Because we're at the pinnacle. And no one is knocking us down. Not anytime soon. Not for a long time. Those Generation Supreme kids can have 2008. But 2009 is mine. The year 2009 will go down in the history books will go down as “The Year of Money”. You can bank on it. Because I'm money. The SWF World Heavyweight champion throws down the microphone. The fans let loose finally with the boos. The four men in the ring – The Best – simply enjoy it. Thoughts... -so I have apparently figured out the best way to get A* matches... which is to not expect them. Every A* match I've had so far, except the Money-McFly match, was not expected. This one didn't shock me - despite the lack of experience of both as teams, three of the four are A* overness and both teams have good chemistry. According to my User Stats in the game, its the best match I've had thus far. Sean McFly... best signing ever! -the show took me longer to write up than I figure, but I wanted the main event to live up to the grade, at least two an extent. Used one of my favorite tag match as a bit of a reference point. -I don't know if a springboard shooting star press is possible... but if anyone could pull it off, it would be Sean McFly -"The Best" is not the stable name for Money-Remo-Newton-Biggie. I'm not even sure they are a stable at this point. As well, just want to mention again that the yearly award nominations are still open.
You should also say, "Rich Money: Glad I Pushed Him!"
So true. Its almost amusing when I look back now on the lead-up to The Supreme Challenge, when I was seriously debating between having Money or Remo be the one to take the belt from Jack Bruce. I was using the same basic character template for Money at that point, and just felt he would make for a more interesting champion than Remo...
One hell of a main event, there. Parker must have just taken a bit of a popularity jump...
Thanks. I didn't have real major plans for how the match would unfold when I booked it, as I usually would with a PPV match. I was going to use a typical babyface-in-peril layout for the match. When I saw SI-Diablos get an A, I had to reconsider a bit. Then the main event got an A* and I realized I needed something more. As for Parker... Nothing. Not a bump, from what I can tell. Not worried, as I think it would still elevate him a bit in the fans (readers) eyes.
Must have been because it was a tag match...
Likely. Oddly, I'm kind of happy that Parker did get a popularity jump out of it. As I indicated previously, he's been held back because I see his partnership with Chord as having a future, but I don't want a big overness discrepency between them. The DuBois-Parker pairing will definitely be seen more often now, but Parker-Chord tandem is the primary one.
What about a momentum gain? There has been cases where the loser actually gains some momentum.
I would be lying if I claimed I knew exactly where Parker's momentum was prior to the match. I have a good idea for much of the roster, but not everyone. Too many workers. If he did see a gain in momentum, it was a small one. He's at C+ now, and I'm guessing he was around C or C+ prior. I have had plenty of workers see a boost in both from losing in a very good match. Sean Deely saw a pretty big boost from the loss and then draw against Chris Morrisette, and Deeley's been a fringe main eventer ever since. Newton took a big jump after the A-match loss to McFly. The "losing up the card" method has worked pretty well for me with a lot of my roster. Its something I've probably become a bit too reliant on. I've realized a big part of the reason to have those talented veterans who have managed to build up good overness is to help put over the younger talent (I know, its so obvious, yet I managed to kinda forget it). And not just by beating them in good matches. Which isn't to say all the young talent is going to go over the vets now, but I think I was holding back on that more than I should have been. Which is why Biggz went over Acid at the PPV (was going to push that back further, as Biggz still well below Acid in terms of overness) and Diaz going over Hall, etc. Simply put, I've been too protective. Because while the game might allow me build guys like DuBois, Newton, and Marquez up to A* overness, essentially on the same level as guys like Money, Faith, Bruce, etc. But until they start getting some wins comensurate to that level, they really aren't there yet. Its a slow build....

If I were to have denied Ino Wolf's belt in my own diary and sent him after Tommy, the game's fans would have supported him - he's huge - but I don't know that he's got that momentum with the readers yet, and I'd rather have people see him as a legitimate contender before I set him against Tommy in full force.

Take the current Bach/Powell situation in my diary. Game-wise, Powell's just a Lower Midcarder, and Bach's an Upper Midcarder, so Teddy wouldn't seem like much of a challenge to the game's audiance. But, to the readers, thanks to their history, it would be thought that it'd be a pretty even match. (Atleast, I hope it would... :p)

I try to have what happens in game be reflected directly, as much as possible, with what happens in the diary. Its not always possible and its not always perceived the same by the readers. That kind of background history makes for a bit of an added edge to feuds and such that the game doesn't really reflect. But a reader does.

News, rumors, and interviews, all brought to you by the incomparable Duane Fry. Preview for podcast available Wednesday, Week 4, December 2008 "Tonight, The Forsaken will be revealed." "That's the promise from Legends brand General Manager Eric Tyler. The notoriously rabid Tri State fans will be the first ones to see the reveal in-person. Can it possibly live up to the hype its received in recent weeks? This alone should make SWF Legends this week must-see." "Of course, there will be plenty more on offer. A battle of experienced veterans will open the show, as Pistol Pete Hall faces off against a man called "The Backbone of the SWF", Enforcer Roberts. This one should be a great old school battle." "Both the SWF Shooting Star and Sky Club Division Tag Team belts will be put on the line by the respective champions, in three-way action." "Big Cat Brandon will be in tag-team action with an unknown partner, taking on the young duo of Paul Huntingdon and John Greed, the tandem who call themselves The Upper Class. The Big Cat might have the advantage here if this was a two-on-one handicap match. The interesting aspect here is to see who his tag team partner will be, and I'm hearing rumors that it will be someone we could see work with Brandon on a regular basis." "The main event is one you don't want to miss - the legend Christian Faith putting his SWF Supreme Championship on the line against the former SWF Legends champion Bloodstone. I understand that Golden Faction leader Rocky Golden is not too pleased to see his stable-mate get a shot at the belt that he clearly covets. This one could be explosive." Pistol Pete Hall vs Enforcer Roberts Last Chance Roberts here, has about as much chance for a win here as he did in getting that tag team (which was HIS LAST CHANCE OF EVER DOING ANYTHING OF NOTE IN THE MODERN ERA EVER, AND WAS PROUD ENOUGH OF THAT FACT TO NAME THEMSELVES AFTER IT) inot anything that looked anything remotely like a push. The Tokyo Underground vs The Samoan Wildboyz vs Lord of Pure for the SWF Sky Club Division Tag Team Championships Are Wildboyz really a good fit for this division? Y'know, if Los Diablos weren't such a big part of Gen S, I'd recommend they be transitioned over here to carry it..anyway, Lords Of Pure continue their reign as underdog champs. Erik Strong vs T-Rex vs Groucho Bling My first thought upon seeing Erik Strong being involved in yet another three way, was "What is this thing you have with Triple Threat Legends Sqaushes..?", but this could go to Bling or Rex. It seems as though High Concept are nearing another push, though, so he may get the pin on Strong here. More upside then Rex. Art Reed vs Enygma vs Bart Biggz for the SWF Shooting Star Championship Well, Reed seems to be challenging for the wrong Midcard title here..Enygma isn't what I'd call a Shooting Star either. Kinda odd choices, but meh, Biggz gets a retain. The Upper Class (John Greed & Paul Huntingdon) vs Big Cat Brandon & Giant Tana Big and Giant get a win over the Upper Class Lower Carders. Side-Note: Upper Class would make good lackies for Rich Money.. Chris Morrisette vs Texas Pete Pfft.. Bloodstone vs Christian Faith for the SWF Supreme Championship In-Game wise, Bloodstone's probably a good fit for this, but Diary-Wise, he's a bit of a lame duck challenger..can't see him taking down Faith. Y'know, I'd like to see Faith/Money's feud boil down to who can have the longest domination reign. I mean, they did start on the same night, if I recall correctly.

The General Manager of the Legends brand starts the show already in the ring, joined by Bryan Holmes and JD Morgan. In the center of the ring is a chest-high pedestal, with a large black cloth draped over whatever it holds. Its painfully obvious that it holds a championship belt, as a similar pedestal has been used several times before for the same reason. Whether it's a new belt or a replacement remains to be seen. Tyler has a microphone and after the opening video sequence, the crowd takes a moment to quiet. Even after that, Tyler paces about the ring for a moment or two before speaking, as he is really considering what he is about to say. The General Manager begins by saying that he doesn't have much use for Generation Supreme. The kids on the Supreme brand are nothing more than a whiny bunch of snot-nosed children. Crying and demanding, without any real concept of the sacrifice it takes to earn the respect they are saying they deserve. Quite honestly, it makes the 48-year very happy to be running a brand where doesn't have such nonsense to deal with. Because he simply won't allow it. He has to break off a moment as the crowd starts to boo a bit, but he rides it about by wandering the ring and musing some more. He then says that those crying children do have one thing right, though. War. It's a power word. A powerful thing. Not the kind of phrase that one should throw around. However, when the situation warrants it, there is no other word to describe what happens between two factions in this business, when a feud turns to unrepentant hate. When there will be no quarter and no surrender. What other word is there that is adequate? Tyler explains that many people seem to feel that his current “issues” with Phil Vibert are new and related just to the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Not true. The General Manager says he's had issues with Vibert going way back to their time in DaVE. As the owner, Vibert liked to take credit for all of that promotions successes. No credit was given to those who did all the work in the ring or who helped Vibert out backstage. And of course, you could never question the overlord Phil Vibert, not without facing some serious repercussions. Phil Vibert has never been my friend, Eric Tyler states. How can you be friends with someone who has no respect for you? I came here to the SWF at his invitation, Tyler explains, because the Supreme Wrestling Federation is an opportunity that you don't pass up. But Phil Vibert hasn't changed. He is still demanding and manipulative and ambitious. When Tyler realized that Vibert was trying to simply turn the Legends brand into Danger and Violence Extreme, he knew it was up to him to stop him. Up to him and Watchmen. So yes, Phil, its war. Last week, Vibert managed to steal away one of the solidiers that Tyler was going to count on – Vengeance. But that's fine. One solider is not going to win or lose this war, no matter how big or scary. But a general... A general might be the one to win this war. Tyler lets that sink in for a moment, then he adds that The Forsaken will play a big part in that war, the GM promises. But before that, there is something else that needs to be done. With a flourish, Tyler turns and points at the covered pedestal. He says that he needs Dan Stone Jr to come to the ring. Dan Stone Jr + Dani Nevada It takes a moment, but the mega-talented Canadian and his “cousin” emerge through the Supreme Gate. The SWF Legends champion gets a big reception from the Tri State fans. Stone gives them a mere slightly acknowledgement, not being the type to play to the fans too much. He carries his SWF Legends championship belt with him. The pair climb into the ring with the General Manager and his two Watchmen. Tyler says that he has to admit that he wasn't too happy when Stone first arrived on the Legends brand, mainly because he was not made away of the situation. However, like everyone else, he has come to appreciate the obvious skills that Stone possesses. Defeating Bloodstone for the SWF Legends championship was very impressive. Defeating Rocky Golden at the coming When Hell Freezes Over pay per view would be even more impressive. Stone will have an important role in this war, Tyler feels, and Dan's House of Stone should be able to work very well with Tyler and his Watchmen. Its an unstated but obvious offer, and Tyler leaves it hanging a he grins. Stony-faced, Stone says nothing. Tyler says that the real reason that he asked Stone out here was because of that belt – he points at the Legends Championship that Stone holds. The GM asks if he may see it, and Stone reluctantly hands it over. Tyler looks closely at the belt that Phil Vibert introduced in June. The camera gets close on the belt, showing the attractive yet stark slate-gray belt. It has a hard look to it, like a hardcore type belt. Instead of handing it back, Tyler hands it to Holmes. Who hands it to Morgan. Who goes to hand it off, but finds there is no one else to pass it to. So he holds it, clearly uncomfortable under the hard gaze of Dan Stone Jr. The situation in the ring is suddenly tense, but Tyler pulls the plug on that tension by asking Dani to do the honors, pointing at the covered pedestal. Dani looks unsure, but cousin Dan nods at her. So the lovely blond steps up, and with a flourish, pulls the black cloth off. What is revealed is the new incarnation of the SWF Legends Championship... The new belt is far flashier than the previous version. The gold and silver glimmer and shine in the spotlights. It is not as garish as the gold and platinum of the SWF Supreme Championship, but it sure looks a lot closer to that belt than the old version did. The champion has to smile at the new belt, but he's its just a smile. Receiving a nod from the General Manager, Dani Nevada takes the belt off the pedestal and hands it to Stone. The champion holds it up and the fans cheer. He then turns to Eric Tyler, clearly mouthing thank you and nodding, but notably not shaking Tyler's hand. As Dan Stone Jr and Dani Nevada make their out of the ring, Tyler reminds the champion to think about things. The segment ends on Eric Tyler's grin... Though fans seem concerned that the promised Forsake never appeared. Grade: A
Daune Fry: Some harsh words about you from Eric Tyler, Phil. Phil Vibert: I'd rather not talk about it, Duane. Duane Fry: Don't you have anything to say about Eric Tyler trying to buy Stone, Phil? Phil Vibert: I'd rather talk about the match we're about to see. Duane Fry: Two men who pretty much define old school. Melanie Florence: Extra emphasis on the old, dear. Phil Vibert: Do you realize that there are at least two different tag team matches that the Supreme brand could put on, either of which would have a lower cumulative age of the four wrestlers than these two? Duane Fry: When it comes to Legends, age is no factor! The Tri State fans enjoy the old school action, but no one really expects Roberts to take down the big cowboy Hall. The clashing styles works pretty well, if not ideally. The fun part of the match is the end sequence, with Pistol Pete hammering Roberts with an endless series of his lariats, which the enforcer sells quite well as smart smarky sections of the crowd scream “lariato” repeatedly loud enough to be heard on the TV broadcast. After Roberts kick out a couple of times, the last few big lariats put him down for the three to give the cowboy the expected victory. Meaning its fun, spotty, plenty of action, and fairly quick. The most experienced tandem – the Samoans – have a few problems, which is one of the highlights of the match. Along with three managers outside the ring and the Lords showing off their stiff Japanese-influenced style. The champions are never really put int serious danger and score another win, building themselves towards favorite status in the division slowly. Emma does most of the talking, as expected. The manager promises that the threesome will become the most powerful force not just on the Legends brand, but in the whole Supreme Wrestling Federation. They will dominate. Others may be invited into their little empire, should any prove worthy. But Frehley and Diaz set a very high standard indeed. The wrestling world will once again learn to fear the Dark Destroyer when he takes the SWF Supreme Championship from Christian Faith at When Hell Freezes Over. There will be no escape for the old man. In fact, Emma guarantees that its going to happen – Frehley is going to become a champion in the Supreme Wrestling Federation again. The year is almost over, and a new one is about to begin. 2009 will be the year that will be remembered for the trio of Steve Frehley, Ray Diaz, and Emma Chase. The short, rather pointless promo ends with Frehley throwing out his catch phrase – that's just the way it is. The two smaller wrestlers go after the big man, using playground tactics to take him off his feet after an initial sequence of them basically bouncing off. Bling gets plenty of encouragement from Miss Missy at ringside, and he definitely tries hard... but he's up against a 6'11”, 360-pound opponent, and even with some help from Strong, Rex takes the win after he tosses Bling out through the ropes, then locks Strong into his Jurassic Crush raised full-nelson, with the smaller Strong struggling for a moment before submitting. Rex Wins at 8:41 via Pinfall Grade: B-
Duane Fry: You know, I really don't see the point of putting these smaller guys in against such a monstrously bigger opponent like that... He is soon joined by the rest of his Golden Faction stable mates. The fans sure don't seem to be happy to see the group. As always, its Rocky Golden who does the talking. “The Golden Boy” doesn't seem too happy. He makes sure everyone is aware of that, saying that he finds it both insulting and stupid that Steve Frehley is the one to be getting the title shot against Christian Faith at When Hell Freezes Over. Clearly, Rocky is the number one contender and should be the one getting that shot. Does beating a nobody from the other brand like Frehley did at Christmas Clash really mean anything? No, its only the Legends brand that should matter. And when was the last time that Rocky lost a match on the Legends brand? Its been awhile. Why doesn't that get recognized? As expected, the crowd boos his self-serving whining. He is nearly drowned out as he claims that its ridiculous that he is being forced to face Dan Stone Jr at the pay per view. The Legends Championship is below Golden, and so is Stone. It only gets worse, as Golden then says he's also appalled that Bloodstone is being given a shot at Faith's title tonight. Oh, Bloodstone might be talented but he hasn't earned that. Behind Golden, Bloodstone hardly looks pleased at the comment. He holds his tongue however. The Golden Ire will be felt, Golden promises. Then he leads his stable out of the ring, including the unhappy-looking Bloodstone. Instead of a high-flying showcase, the match is a chance for champion Biggz to show off the diversity of his skills, displaying some brawling and plenty of mat-based wrestling. All three men have their moments, but its Biggz who looks the strongest. In the late going, he begins to use his high-flying to launch himself rather reckless as his two challengers and starts to take over the match. That's interrupted by an appearance of Acid, the hated masked man getting heat as he makes his way down to the ring in a hurry, the stocky little man moving incredibly quickly. He leaps onto the apron, gets to the to turnbuckle in a flash, and then drive bombs onto Biggz. Referee Jay Fair somehow manages to miss it, and if Acid bailed, he may have gotten away with it. But the Watchman decides to hammer away at Biggz with a series of kicks, which Fair can't miss. The ref calls for the bell. The SWF Supreme Champion seems to be just arriving at the arena, as he is carrying his bags and wearing street clothes. He moves through the busy backstage area, and an SWF official points him down a long hallway. With a quick thank you, Faith heads down the long hallway to a door marked with his name. The door opens to a large, posh locker room. Faith steps inside and sets his bags down... and then goes flying. Landing hard on the carpet, Faith turns and looks as his attacker. His face contorts into anger as he sees who his attacker is, the champion mouthing an angry “You...”. The fans reaction, believing the attacker must be the much-hyped Forsaken. Faith starts to scramble to his feet in a hurry, only to be hammered again. The champion stays on his feet, fighting back against his still-unseen attacker. Then Chris Caufield and Big Cat Brandon burst in, and the odds are all changed. Those two join the fray, and the four-on-two quickly turns into a beat down.a The four Alliance members don't go overboard however. As soon as the they have the two big Faction members in the corner, they stop. With Caufield checking on Faith to make sure he's okay, Morrisette gets up in Pete's face, telling him to deliver a message to their thug of a leader. No more. Simple as that. No more. Big Cat Brandon comes out first, getting a big pop. Then his partner is revealed – Skull DeBones. He gets a monster pop as well. Its an interesting tandem, given the recent problems between the two. That seems to be completely forgotten now, as they embrace before the match, also raising the question as to whether DeBones has changed the Alliance. The big pair cut an imposing duo, and they quickly show that they work very well as a team. Its basically a squash, as the Upper Class duo look anything but upper level, and prove unable to maintain any sort of momentum. The heel duo keep it from being a short match by stalling outside the ring for a time. DeBones gets the win after a Skull Crusher piledriver on Greed. Caufield is in street clothes – which doesn't differ much from his ring gear – but Morrisette is ready for his coming match. The climb into the ring and Morrisette takes the mic. He does all the talking. Morrisette says that he's tired already of what Eric Tyler is trying to do to this brand. He moved over from the Supreme brand because he wanted to be able to work with his friend Christian Faith and because he believed in Phil Vibert's goals for the brand. That hasn't changed. But now that Tyler had decided to make this into a “war”, Morrisette has eve more reason to be involved. Because before he wore a lobster costume up in Canada, Morrisette was just one more solider in the East Coast War. So yes, he knows all about a war in the wrestling world. And if that's what Eric Tyler wants to make this, This time, Morrisette won't just be a solider. Alongside Christian Faith, he is going to be a leader on the front lines. Caufield takes the microphone for a just a moment, saying that he's proof that Tyler is wrong about Phil Vibert. That Vibert has never tried to take all the credit and he's never tried to deflect responsibility when it comes to DaVE. Morrisette finishes the promo by saying that if Tyler wants a war, he'll get a war. Texas Pete isn't quite that easy to put down, and he powers out, then he begins to try to use his size and power advantage to push Morrisette around. The fan favorite slows a bit after he caches a big boot from his Texan opponent, but Morrisette keeps battling. He fights back, the crowd urging him as he takes control of the match. The last few minutes are all Morrisette as he batters the big Texas, payback for the earlier attack on Faith. Morrisette finally ends it with his Lobster Trap fisherman's supelx. Faith starts out this one at a disadvantage as he is clearly still feel the effects of the attack earlier. It gives the former Legends champion plenty of opportunity to work over the Supreme champion with his mat wrestling and submissions. The match builds gradually toward the comeback that the fans know it coming. They erupt when it does begin, as Faith works over Bloodstone with big punches and elbows. A big series of Machine Gun Faith elbows drop Bloodstone and have the fans roaring. After Faith delivers his Leap of Faith avalanche, the fans know its over. But the champion never gets to go for the pinfall as Steve Frehley, Ray Diaz, and Emma Chase suddenly appear and make their way down to the ring. Diaz and Frehley move to opposite sides of the ring, while Emma stands at the foot of the ramp and screams at the champion. Its a stand off for a moment, with Bloodstone not really taking advantage. Then Frehley climbs into the ring, getting into Faith's face. The two start shoving. Although its a rather minimal degree of interference as no blows have been exchanged, referee Shane Stones calls the match. The foursome don't move down to the ring, but simply stand up at the top of the ramp and watch. The message is clear – they are going to get involved if necessary. It proves unnecessary, as Frehley backs off first. Emma is still jawing at the champion. Just before he climbs out of the ring, Frehley points at Faith and makes a gesture at his own wait. Faith says nothing. Once the trio are out of the ring, Faith is handed his SWF Supreme title. With a flourish he holds it up and stares at Frehley, the crowd erupting. The flashes are punctuated with a series of strobe lights, soon joined by flashing spotlights moving quickly about. Then as suddenly as they began, the explosions cease. The strobe lights and rapidly-moving spotlights stop. The only lights that remain are a series of red laser spotlights which slowly move about, gradually focusing on the center of the ring. I think that one requires a few thoughts... -thank you to Reaper for the new Legends belt. Can't say I disliked the first one at all, but love the new one. Plus it adds something in storyline terms. -okay, Nemsesis. Its the last big debut/re-debut I have planned for awhile and I figure its on that's likely to get some reaction. Yes, it required editing - the relationship between Eisen and Nemesis was changed to Simmering Tension. Because of fact that it required editing, I mulled over that one for a long long time. I'll explain the diary reasons for Eisen allowing it in the next Random Thoughts segment. In game terms, its an idea that I've toyed with almost since the diary started. A DaVE invasion angle is one I was going to do near the start, but I didn't think it would work as well without Nemesis. Given his history with the SWF, he needed to be part of it. As the issues between Vibert and Tyler on the Legends brand built through the latter part of the year, I started toying with the idea again. When I decided to make it an outright stated war, with DeBones joining the Vibert Alliance, I realized I needed something big for Tyler's side to have a chance. Nemesis is that. I am curious to see how readers react to it...

I'd like to evily steal credit away from those notes, and say that I was the one that brought Nemesis back to your attention, if I may.. :p I paused for a bit before moving onto the picture, trying to think of some big name with red hair, Nemesis didn't spring to mind. Definately a good catch, and his B's in brawling should prove awesome, if you give him the occassional match. But as a side note, am I the only one who was really surprised when I saw that Nemesis was a Middleweight? He looks huge. To be that muscular, and yet to weigh less then Clark Alexander, he must be, like, Tazz-sized in height.. :p
