Nevy's Radio Show

Nevermore

Recommended Posts

It's an important show for me. So, please tune-in if you can :). I guarantee it'll be a laugh.

What are you doing this fine Thursday evening? You're listening to The Graveyard Shift? Well, there's a coincidence 'cos I happen to be presenting it: Insanity Radio's home of "underground" music.

Tonight: 22:00-00:00

Same Rules apply: A THEME CONNECTS EVERY SONG IN THE PLAYLIST EXCEPT FOR ONE ODD ONE OUT. TEXT OR E-MAIL IN TO IDENTIFY THE THEME AND THE ONE THAT DOESN'T FIT.

BE THE FIRST TO CORRECTLY IDENTIFY BOTH AND YOU'LL BE CHOOSING NEXT WEEK'S THEME

This week I finally reclaim control over my own feature and get to pick the theme. It's set to feature:

'Sophisticated Punk' from the TALKING HEADS

The return of ANATHEMA due to listener request

The penultimate movement of GEORGE FRIEDRICH HANDEL's awe-inpspiring Messiah

Indie music at it's very finest with tracks from the STONE ROSES and the DELGADOS

A live track from the legendary FRANK ZAPPA and the Mother's of Invention... featuring CAPTAIN BEEFHEART

HAYSEED DIXIE add their flavour to the hillbilly classic "Duelling Banjos"

A generous helping of Tex-Mex mariachi from CALEXICO

One of MOBY's forgotten early works

Graveyard Shift favourites, the BONZO DOG DOO-DAH BAND

The BEATLES. 'Nuff said

The eccentric compositions of Brazillian composer EUMIR DEODATO

MIKE OLDFIELD... and, no, it's not Tubular Bells; that would defeat the point

Progressive Electronica c/o SIGUR ROS

...and this week's Overdose features one of the greatest guitarists and singer/songwriters to grace these hallowed shores, NICK DRAKE.

What connects these seemingly incongruous artists? Tune in or miss out!

If I'm home, I'll be listening. right now it's a 50/50 chance I'll still be at work dealing with a second major snowstorm in the span of a week. But if I get released early enough Thursday, I'll be around as normal.

*no-sells Nevy's prod and points to the above quote* :p All kidding aside, I just received word that I'm stuck here until 1:00 am GMT, so I'm afraid I have to give it a miss tonight. Bloody weather...

As always, please tune-in if you can! I can guarantee another fun and raucous evening with awesome tunage.

EDIT: Won the award on Saturday, by the way. So, thanks for all the support.

I mean we've got Billy Idol tonight! :D

http://insanityradio.com/listen/ 22:00-00:00 (GMT) or 17:00-19:00 (EST)

Late message, I know - it was touch and go if the show was happening tonight but...

If a tree falls in the woods and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? Who gives a toss - you'd rather be listening to The Graveyard Shift, the home of "underground" music on Insanity Radio.

Tonight: 22:00-00:00

It's me choosing the theme for a second week in a row. So, stop slacking and reclaim the theme-choice for the listeners! Nevertheless, I'm proud to say that this week's playlist features:

Graveyrad Shift favourite SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA - previously heard fronting Angtoria - now preparing for an imminent solo-album release

ALICE COOPER - bow down and worship

An unreleased track from the BEATLES' BBC sessions

The four men taking "****-rock" to a whole new level, STEEL PANTHER

A truly "underground" closet classic from Fleetwood Mac favourites LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM & STEVIE NICKS - the album hasn't even been in print for the last twenty five years

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART and his MAGIC BAND at their most delightfully raucous

The black metal band taking the (under)world by storm, BEHEMOTH

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD at her very best - when collaborating with BURT BACHARACH, naturally

PRODIGY - okay, they're not underground; they're just awesome - it is a tragically-little-played track, mind

Melancholic indie rock from the EELS

DIO as we hope Ronnie James makes a speedy recovery!

The undeniable legend that is STEVIE WONDER

Horror B-Movie reject (but that's the way we like 'em), ROB ZOMBIE

...and this week's Overdose features the glam/goth-rock icon that is BILLY IDOL- with a Rebel Yell!

What connects these seemingly incongruous artists? Tune in or miss out!

  • 3 weeks later...

Apologies for my absence both on the boards and on the airwaves. Many massive things going on whcih I won't bore you all with.

Anyhow, there were "official reasons" for me missing my show, imposed by TPTB - not my choice... long story.

BUT the Shift is back this week and I'd really appreciate it if you could tune in :). It's a truly screwed up playlist this week: tonight 22:00-00:00 (GMT) or 17:00-19:00 (EST)

It's back at long, long last... The Graveyard Shift, the home of "underground" music on Insanity Radio, returns from a two week absence to bring meaning to an otherwise drab Thursday evening.

The theme choice is back with me and tonight's playlist features a truly incongruess ****tail of the relatively unknown:

Prog rock gods YES - how could I not include them on a return show?

New-wave composer and Celtic Harpist LORIN GREAN

One of the most absurd yet brilliant bands I've ever seen live - CUTTING PINK WITH KNIVES

Norwegian Black Metal iconoclasts IMMORTAL

THE WHO fulfil the quota for stuff you might actually know the words to

Jeff's dad, TIM BUCKLEY

HENRY HALL with a classic nursery rhyme - no I'm not kidding

Barbeshop-quartet c/o THE BUFFALO BILLS

The inestimably weird CHEESE CAKE TRUCK

WOOLLY WOLSTENHOME & MAESTOSO's "Uneasy Listening"

BUDDY HOLLY - enough said

"Avant-Garde Arabic Electronica"... apparently... SECRET CHIEFS 3

Sorry, they're MELVINS

RAM JAM's flash-in-the-pan hit with a Leadbelly classic

STEEL PANTHER - and I don't even need to vet this one for swearing

"200 Kilos of Gorilla Metal" from CHARGER

Flamenco-crossover pioneers RODRIGO y GABRIELA

...and this week's overdose features an individual rather than a band: PHIL ANSELMO. With an iconic track from his early days in PANTERA and an emotional lament for his lost home city with DOWN. No... that's not cheating. You try and put together an overdose for this theme!

What connects these seemingly incongruous artists? Tune in or miss out!
