WWE: The Ultimate Thrill Ride

Recommended Posts

Well I'm back in the dynasty writing game. Those of you who have read my stuff before know what to expect. There's going to be no fancy backstory here. I'm going to be running WWE like they are run today, trying to make it as realistic as possible. That means no giant talent raids, I will take people who become available, but I won't go out of my way to sign up all the independent talent. I'll also be running this in a kayfabe point of view. You'll get WWE.com updates, but no big backstage news as I think it takes away from the drama and surprise of the shows. This dynasty will start in the first week of October. That leaves me No Mercy in the first week. I'm going to keep the matches almost the same, and then I will branch out and change how things go from there. Now let's have some fun. Strap yourself in, this is going to be the ultimate thrill ride.

Monday Night Raw comes to you this week from Bakersfield, California, and it promises to be packed with action. We are just one week from the No Mercy pay-per-view, so you can bet that we will hear from the current World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho, and his challenger for Sunday night, Shawn Michaels. These two have battled week in and week out for several months, and No Mercy could provide the final chapter in this blood feud. What will the last show before their big match bring though?

Another feud that has been building for weeks is John Bradshaw Layfield and Batista. JBL claims to be far superior to the Animal, and plans on showing WWE Universe why he is better than one of their favorites. JBL also claims to be much smarter than Batista, but is JBL underestimating the Animal. What could Batista have in store for the stock market guru before their showdown at No Mercy?

Gold will also be on the line on tonight's Raw. Beth Phoenix is not happy that she doesn't have a match at the pay-per-view, so she has been given a match on Raw, where she will defend her Women's Championship against her archrival, former Women's Champion Mickie James. Will Beth regret complaining about not getting time on the Pay-Per-View? And what does Raw have in store for the other half of Glamarella, Santino Marella, who will defend his title against CM Punk at No Mercy. Tune into Raw to find out, plus much more.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Monday, October Week 1, 2008

Rabobank Arena

Bakersfield, CA

Attendance: 9,006

Monday Night Raw opens up not with its usual promo, but with the familiar countdown to the entrance of the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho. The fans shoot up to their feet and shower the arrogant champion with a chorus of boos, letting him know that he is not the person that they want to see out here to begin this final Raw before No Mercy this Sunday. Jericho quickly demands a microphone from ringside, then begins to address the crowd.

Chris Jericho

I’d like to take this time to share with you my thoughts on my match at No Mercy. Shawn Michaels and I have gone around the block a time or two in the past couple of months. But I thought I had impressed on people that I’m simply better than him. Not only is he a no good lying degenerate with no moral compass whatsoever, I’m better than him in the ring as well. Sure he’s Mr. WrestleMania, but that was years ago. If we were to have a fair test of in ring skills, I would clearly be the better man, but you can never get a fair contest of out that no good cheat.

With these words Shawn Michaels stormed down to the ring, not wanting to wait until No Mercy to get his hands on Jericho. He stepped up into the ring and stared a hole through the champion, but before he could do anything about it the fans let out a giant boo as John Bradshaw Layfield sprinted down to the ring. Michaels caught this just soon enough and was able to avoid an ambush by JBL, and he was trying to fight off both men at once, but it was to no avail. Before they could do any real damage though Batista sprinted out to try to get his hands on JBL, but the Wall Street genius and Jericho headed back up the ramp. Before they could leave the arena though they were stopped in their tracks by a voice that hasn’t been heard in quite some time.

Mr. McMahon

Stop right there. You all haven’t forgotten about me have you? Ever since my unfortunate accident I’ve sat at home and watched person after person try to run my baby, Monday Night Raw. And they all had something in common; they were running it right into the ground. Well I’m not going to stand for it anymore. I got tired of seeing “Adamle Originals”, so Monday Night Raw is back in my hands. And my first act is to make a blockbuster main event for tonight. We are going to have a little No Mercy preview tag tema match. In one corner it will be the World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and John Bradshaw Layfield. In the other corner will be Shawn Michaels and his tag team partner Batista!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera goes backstage, where it finds CM Punk walking to the ring with a purpose. When Raw comes back from commercial break we will see CM Punk in action against the man that beat him in the finals of the King of the Ring, William Regal.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/CMPunk.jpg VS http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/WilliamRegal.jpg

CM Punk vs. William Regal

This was a rematch from last year’s King of the Ring finals, but CM Punk has progressed a lot since then, even becoming a World Champion in that time. Regal showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with though as he put the hurt on Punk for a long stretch of the match. He even locked in his signature finisher, the Regal Stretch, but Punk was able to reach the ropes before he was forced to tap out. This seemed to light a fire under Punk, who fought back with everything he had. He leveled Regal with a big kick, then forced him into the corner, where he nailed a high knee, then pulled him out with a bulldog. Punk then stalked Regal, and when he got up Punk lifted him and dropped the Englishman with the Go To Sleep, earning CM Punk a big victory heading into his Intercontinental Title match with Santino Marella at No Mercy.

Winner: CM Punk

Match Time: 10:44

Match Rating: B+

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Raw came back from break Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix came out to the ring for Phoenix’s defense of the Women’s Championship. Before Mickie James could make her way to the ring though, Marella had to get something off his chest about his match this Sunday.

Santino Marella

That was very impressive Mr. CM Punky Brewster. You beat William Regal. What you fail to realize is that I could do that same thing with my eyes closed…twice. If you were smart Punky, you wouldn’t even come to No Mercy this Sunday, because I’m gonna beat you up real bad! They call me Santino Marella for a reason! And that reason is…..is…..because I’m gonna kick your butt!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/BethPhoenixWomens.jpg VS http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/MickieJames.jpg

WWE Women’s Championship

Beth Phoenix © vs. Mickie James

These two have a storied history together. Ever since Beth Phoenix entered the WWE, she has been a fierce rival of Mickie James. Ever since Phoenix captured the title for the second time she has seemed more unstoppable than ever though. Mickie James went after her with maybe the only strategy that could work against Phoenix, she used her speed to catch the Glamazon off guard. It looked like it was going to work until Beth caught Mickie by the hair, then threw her down. Beth then used her power for several minutes, and Mickie struggled to get back into it. She finally did, and she tried to hit the DDT to win the title once again, but Phoenix countered, then got Mickie up for the Glam Slam, ending the match three short seconds later.

Winner: Beth Phoenix

Match Time: 8:47

Match Rating: C+

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/Kane.jpg VS http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/PaulLondon.jpg

Kane vs. Paul London

Paul London hadn’t been seen in quite some time on Monday Night Raw, and he picked a bad time to come out of seclusion. Kane was looking for a warm up opponent for his match with Rey Mysterio at No Mercy, and London provided the perfect victim. London has a similar offense to Mysterio, but he couldn’t showcase it because Kane was all over him from the start. After an impressive flying clothesline, Kane started stalking London, then leveled him with a very impressive Chokeslam to give him the easy victory.

Winner: Kane

Match Time: 4:52

Match Rating: C

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The action then shifts to backstage, where Joey Styles is standing by with John Bradshaw Layfield.

Joey Styles

Here I am with the man who will face Batista at No Mercy, JBL. Now John, we keep hearing how you were the longest reigning WWE Champion in over a decade, and for that reason you should be getting a title shot, not a match with Batista. But John, that was almost four years ago. Are you saying that you should still cash in on what you did nearly a half of a decade ago.

John Bradshaw Layfield

Joey, you ignorant little crap. I should slap those goofy glasses right off of your misshapen head. Hell yes I should be getting a title shot. I passed the torch at WrestleMania 21, and damnit I want that torch back. And now that Mr. McMahon’s back, I’m confident that I’ll be getting my title shot sooner than later. Once I beat Batista this Sunday, then I’ll be the clear number one contender, and I’ll be your next World Heavyweight Champion!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera then goes to Rey Mysterio’s locker room, where he is getting ready for a match with Lance Cade. Before he could leave though he was greeted by his good friend Batista.

Batista

Rey, what’s up? Up just wanted to stop by and tell you to be careful out there. I’ve had first hand experience with Kane, and he’s not a guy to mess around with. I know you can handle yourself out there, but this guy isn’t normal, he’ll do anything he can to put you through hell.

Rey Mysterio

Thanks Dave, I know what I’m dealing with. I don’t even know what Kane’s problem is. I know one thing though, he messed with the wrong man. I’m going to take him out, then set my sights on my ultimate goal, the World Heavyweight Championship.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/LanceCade.jpg VS http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/ReyMysterio.jpg

Lance Cade vs. Rey Mysterio

Much like Kane’s warm up match, Mysterio had an opponent similar to the man he would face at No Mercy. Rey was giving up around one hundred pounds to Cade, but he used his quick feet to keep the stronger man at bay. Cade eventually caught Mysterio, and he quickly began to beat him down. Cade looked like he might pull out the upset victory as he set Rey up for his big powerbomb, but Mysterio was able to counter out of it, then drop Cade across the second rope. He then connected with the 619, then went straight to the top where he hit a missile like splash to give him the three count and the big victory.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Match Time: 10:51

Match Rating: B

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Rey was celebrating in the ring, when an all too familiar sight popped up. Kane dashed into the ring and ripped Mysterio off of the second turnbuckle, and then he proceeded to stomp Mysterio into the canvas. Kane taunted Mysterio until he got up, then he went for the Chokeslam on him. He grabbed him by the throat, but Mysterio kicked him right in the thigh. Mysterio then springboarded off the second rope and tried to take down Kane, but he was waiting and caught him around the throat in midair, then Chokeslammed him straight down to the mat, leaving Rey in a heap only six days before their big match at No Mercy.

Cryme Tyme vs. Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes

The tag team champions came into this match looking very confident, and they showed why there are the top tag team on Raw when they dominated the early part of the match by isolating JTG from Shad. JTG tried for several minutes to get a tag in, but he was unsuccessful for most of the match. Rhodes was able to spike JTG down with a DDT, but Shad broke up the count. After a few more moments of isolation JTG was able to break free and get Shad into the match. He cleaned house, then Cryme Tyme was able to hit the G9 on DiBiase to get the upset three count.

Winners: Cryme Tyme

Match Time: 7:56

Match Rating: C+

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Raw comes back from commercial, Mr. McMahon is standing in his office.

Mr. McMahon

I’m glad to be back here on Monday Night Raw. I’ve got to say that I’m very impressed with Cryme Tyme, so next week on Raw they will be getting a shot at the World Tag Team Titles against Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. And next…

Just then Chris Jericho barged into Mr. McMahon’s office, and he had something on his mind.

Chris Jericho

Vince, I’m glad your back. Now I know you didn’t make the title match Sunday with me and Shawn Michaels, that was that moron Adamle’s fault. I know you’ve been watching though, and you know that Shawn Michaels doesn’t deserve another shot against me. And Vince, let me tell you, when I beat him again, he better not get another shot at me as long as I’m champion.

Mr. McMahon

Don’t you tell me how to do my job! Whoever I say gets a shot at the title will get their shot. Now I suggest you get out of my office before I make you defend that title here tonight!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/KofiKingston.jpg VS http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/PaulBurchill.jpg

Kofi Kingston vs. Paul Burchill

This match was a classic example of strength versus speed as the risk taker Kofi Kingston took on the powerhouse Paul Burchill. Burchill looked impressive for the first part of the match, showing technical skill that few people knew that he had. He also showed that he gets around the ring fairly quickly as Kingston was not able to get his unique offense in much at all. Burchill decided to taunt a little bit, and Kingston then unleashed the controlled frenzy. He hit all kinds of kicks, then his signature, BOOM BOOM BOOM. He then waited for Burchill to rise, and he attempted to uncoil on him with Trouble in Paradise, but Burchill ducked it, then hit a very impressive move he calls the C4, and he pulled out the big win over Kingston.

Winner: Paul Burchill

Match Time: 5:33

Match Rating: C

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera goes backstage where Shawn Michaels and Batista are showing walking to the ring together and talking, ready for their main event matchup with Jericho and Layfield, which is up next.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/Batista.jpghttp://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/ShawnMichaels.jpg VS http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/ChrisJerichoWHC.jpghttp://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/shaynes23/UTR/JBL.jpg

Batista and Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho and John Bradshaw Layfield

This match started with Michaels facing off with Layfield, and HBK looked very good as he controlled the tempo, and he and Batista used some very good teamwork to make sure they had the upper hand in the match. Jericho interjected himself into the match though and turned the tide around to his team’s favor, and they kept Shawn Michaels in their corner. Things were looking very bad for Michaels as he was isolated from Batista, and Jericho even locked in the Walls of Jericho on Michaels. Michaels was able to get away from Jericho, and Batista got the tag, which caused Jericho to tag in JBL, then head for the hills. A very energy filled Batista hit JBL with a spinebuster, then the Batista Bomb to get the victory as Jericho looked on from the floor.

Winners: Batista and Shawn Michaels

Match Time: 15:58

Match Rating: B+

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Batista continued the beatdown on JBL, not wanting to give him room to breath before their match at No Mercy. They brawled all the way into the crowd, which left Jericho and Michaels alone. They entered the ring and stared each other down, muttering words of hate before their title match in six days.

Final Rating: B

Talk about all time bad timing. I've been waiting for D.O.T.T. to come out since TEW08 came out. DOTT is my favorite mod by far, and what do you know, the day I start a dynasty is the day that DOTT comes out. I'm much better at writing the 80's WWF style stuff than today's stuff, so I guess I'll be doing the DOTT dynasty I've wanted to do for a very long time. This could be my record for shortest dyansty, but it's going to be well worth it once my DOTT one gets rolling. So probably look for that one tomorrow.
