GCG: Golden Era Of Wrestling

Recommended Posts

Hanshiro Furusawa has set various goals ranging from not falling in size from Regional, doubling the finances to $2m, not hiring Super Juniors and not hiring or extending the contract of anyone with less than D- in basics and industry reputation.

I'm running a one hour show every week, along with the main tour show being two hours at the end of the month. GCG also has a tour highlights TV show every week that i've extended to an hour that runs on Japanese Sports Vision 3.

I've not done a diary with a touring promotion so I'll be learning along the way a bit. I'll be posting the monthly results for the four shows leading upto the main end of month show, when i'll post a preview of the line-up so people can predict if they want.

I've already been hit by two departures to BHOTWG which will become evident in the tour results.

I hope everyone enjoys the layout that has more than a passing nod to Marcel Fromage's designs in his superb and legendary ROF diary :).

GCG World Tag Team Triple Threat

Shotaro Ikina and Yasuhide Tayama © vs. Team Strike vs. The USA Express

Barry Griffin and Henry Bennett, who form Team Strike and Nathan Coleman and Stuart Ferdinand, who team together as The USA Express will be looking to make a name for themselves by winning and taking the titles from Shotaro Ikina and Yasuhide Tayama but Ikina and Tayama will be no pushovers as they combine youth and experience to make an extremely well oiled machine. GCG Openweight

Harumi Okazawaya © vs. Eagle Kawasaka

Often thought of as a safe pair of hands in the ring, GCG Openweight champion Harumi Okazawaya defends his title against the promising young high flier, Eagle Kawasaka. Can the Optimus trained Eagle Kawasaka win his first ever title or will Okazawaya use his years of experience over Kawasawa to find a way to retaining?

Jack Marlowe vs. Kiminobu Kuroki

With the future of Kiminobu Kuroki being in doubt with rumours of an offer from WLW, the distraction could work to Jack Marlowe's advantage but underestimating Kuroki could be also be dangerous. Can Marlowe take the win or will Kuroki grab what is maybe his last victory in GCG?

Jimmy Cox vs. TAKA

In a match that promises to be a lesson in technical wrestling, Jimmy Cox takes on TAKA in singles action. Cox has become a big deal in Japan, thanks to his famous Immortal Driver finishing move and TAKA is still settling into life in GCG. Can TAKA pick up his first victory in GCG or will he be the latest victim to fall to the Immortal Driver?

GCG World Heavyweight Triple Threat

Pistol Pete Hall © vs. Hiroyasu Gakusha vs. Toshiharu Hyobanshi

Going unbeaten so far in January, GCG World Heavyweight champion Pistol Pete Hall faces his biggest challenge so far going up against two opponents in Hiroyasu Gakusha and Toshiharu Hyobanshi. Gakusha is surely destined to be one of GCG's top performers for years to come and Hyobanshi is not afraid to win matches by any means necessary. Can Gakusha or Hyobanshi walk out with the title or will Hall prove just why he is the champion by emerging victorious?

I'm totally unfamiliar with GCG, so I look forward to your show teaching me all about it. Total guesses.

[stupid nonsense]Just few things, totally my own opinions and personal likings, don't mean to sadden you or anything.. Just few things that I'd like to share, sorry. :o

1. I must admit that I'm not a fan of the graphics results. I just can't get into them as I feel that they are just like results pasted from the game and that's it.

2. Just one show in a week? What on earth ..

3. Just one show in a week with just 4 matches? Whatta..

My GCG booking differs so much from this that I just can't get into it. I always do 2-3 shows a week with 6 to 8 matches in a card, as it's a touring schedule in a Japanese puroresu promotion.[/stupid nonsense]

I'm not familiar with running Japanese promotions so it's all a learning experience along the way for me.

The big event end of month show will be alot more detail, it's just I want to avoid burnout doing detailed write-ups for each show. I also only do 4 matches as it's a 1 hour weekly event which I feel suits a regional GCG and helps avoid the three match penalty coming into effect hopefully.

I have considered expanding to two 1 hour shows a week plus a final big event 2 hour show making it 7 shows a month.

Thanks for the comments though FIN, always good to get opinions :).

I usually book with Mon - Wed - Fri as weekly shows: Mon & Wed are 1½h, Fri 2. With the alternation of that when I hold a PPV I only do one weekly show during that week so that everyone is 100% going into the PPV. So that's 11 shows per month if I'm correct.
