d_w_w
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/MDC2.jpg Date: Monday, Week 1, November 2008 Show: Spotlight! Location: Melee Town Hall (Hawaii) Attendance: 5000 Outside of the city of Metropolis, two pairs of metahumans converge. The Toad and The Blob, looking for revenge against Doomsday (see Spotlight Issue #2), stumbled into the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. These juniors members of the Justice League were on their way to help in the defense of Metropolis. Both pairs, having previously been victimized by forces from opposing directions, came into conflict upon coming into contact. Blue Beetle and Booster Gold despite being more skilled, underestimated their Marvel foes and, in particular, underestimated the Blob, whose brute strength and durability resulted in a defeat for the DC forces. Result: The Brotherhood defeated Blue Beetle & Booster Gold Match Rating: D * * * * * http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/Loki.jpghttp://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/Titania.jpg Loki and Titania walk through a mystic portal. Titania stares ahead, with a blank expression on her face, undoubtedly hypnotized by the God of Mischief. The pair emerge deep within Stark Towers. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/Metallo_alt03.jpg Metallo lies before them, his cybernetic body broken and battered from his recent conflict with Iron Man. Despite being gravely damaged, the Stark Towers security staff have seen it fit to strap Metallo to a steel table and surround him with a red energy field. With a wave of his hand, Loki dispels the energy field and looks down at the fallen Metallo. Immediately, an alarm goes off. Seconds later, Stark Towers security personnel rush into the room. Loki rolls his eyes and uses his head to gesture Titania in their general direction. Moments later, security guards are flung to and fro, proving to be no match for Titania. Meanwhile, Loki pulls the Green Kryptonite from Metallo's chest. He stares at the stone, before tossing into a pouch on his belt. In its place, Loki places another green stone. The mystic energies in the stone immediately bring Metallo to life. With a gasp not needed for one with mechanical lungs, Metallo sits up. In the background, Titania scares off the last of Stark's security guards. Loki rubs his hands together, while an obviously devious smile forms across his face. “You are the one known as Metallo, yes?” Alive, yet broken, Metallo nods, as he attempts to stand up. Already, his advanced repair systems are activating. Loki puts his hand on Metallo's armored shoulder. “I am Loki. And you, my metallic friend, are once again among the living, thanks to my labored efforts. I hope, of course, that you'll remember my kindness, for I have a proposition to make...” Angle Rating: C+ * * * * * http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/LexLuthor.jpg Luthor watches Metropolis from his penthouse window. He saw, first hand, Superman drop to the earth. His greatest foe defeated. And yet, Luthor felt no joy or relief at his foe's demise. With the Man of Steel defeated, Metropolis was undefended. Already, the green-skinned Marvel known as the Hulk rampaged across the city, while the great destroyer known as Doomsday entered via the suburbs. With Superman defeated, and possibly dead, it was very likely that none could stop Luthor from achieving ultimate power. But what good was ultimate power if there was no left to exert it over? If he could, Lex would terminate both the Hulk and Doomsday on the spot. And yet, he could not. Nor did he have much hope that other heroes could stop these rampaging beasts. If Superman could not stop the Hulk and had been previously defeated by Doomsday, then what chance did the other metahumans have? In the distance, The Incredible Hulk battles the Metropolitian Police Force. The battle is, as one would expect, largely one-sided. Luthor hears footsteps behind him. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/Supergirl.jpg “Lex...” Luthor shakes his head, cutting her off. He knew that she wanted to help. This, however, was too much for her. And he couldn't, no, he wouldn't lose her. “No, Love. Let the others handle it. Supergirl stands beside Lex Luthor. She, like him, stares out the window. “If Superman couldn't stop him”, she says, pointing at the figure of the Hulk in the distance, ”Then what chance to the police?” “None.” “Then let me go, Lex! I have to do something!” Again, Luthor shakes his head. “Ares is on the way. I have also contacted Deathstroke and Ravenger and have a call in with the Justice League.” Of course, that turncoat Metallo was nowhere to be found. Supergirl sighs. She turns to walk away, once again feeling dejected. “Don't act so hurt, Love. This situation is dire. You'll likely get your chance at the Hulk before it is over.” The statement was, of course, true. and it scared the daylights out of Lex. The man once known as Colossus thought that the world had gone mad, with the appearance of new cities, new heroes, and new villains. The trip across the Atlantic was exhausting, but Piotr figured that his abilities would be valuable here on the American East Coast, the center of the current situation. The news feed switches from Metropolis to New York City. Piotr's eyes open widely, as footage of the X-Men battling Apocalypse, filmed from a helicopter, is displayed on the screen. You long for memories that are no more. The dark ring has given you another lease on life. Join me and master, and you shall have a life with purpose. ” Martian Manhunter stares up at Apocalypse with his horribly disfigured face. “... Purpose? Meaning?” Apocalypse nods. “Indeed. What say you, Martian Manhunter?” The ring whispers to him. It urges him to join. To lose himself. “... I will join you.” “Excellent. From this day forth, you shall be known as Manhunter, the Horseman of Pestilence.” A creepy red glow filters over the room. Manhunter looks about, while Apocalypse stares ahead. “All goes well on this front, I trust?” “Indeed Master. We have the second of four.” “Good. I am prepared to go ahead with plans on my end. Apocalypse, I am leaving you in charge of selecting and recruiting an appropriate candidate for famine.” “What of War? And what of Manhunter?” “Send Manhunter to assist Alucard. He does not have the chance to push the attack, however, as Iron Man soon appears before him, levitating via his repulsor boots. Both palms release high powered repulsor beams, which catch Bizarro off guard and drive him off the roof. He takes to the air as well and flies towards Iron Man, who unleashes two more repulsor blasts before narrowly dodges a flying haymaker. Woman Woman leaps from the ground, grabs Bizarro by the cloak, and slams her bracelet into his face. Iron Man joins the fray, driving an metal fist into the side of Bizarro's head. The fight quickly spills from the sky and onto a nearby street, where Wonder Woman and Iron Man work in unison to overwhelm the incensed Bizarro. Finally, Wonder Woman produces the Lasso of Truth. With great expertise, snares Bizarro in its loop. She pulls him close, staring at his face. “Is this Bizarro or is this Brainiac?” Bizarro stares at her face with anger for several seconds without responding. Suddenly, his expression changes to one of confusion. “Woman Wonder? Happening is derived based on friendly musings.” Wonder Woman relaxes her grip and pulls the Lasso off of Bizarro. Meanwhile, Iron Man lifts his hands up and places them out to his side while shaking his head, in an obvious expression of confusion. “What the heck is going on here?” Result: Iron Man & Wonder Woman defeated Bizarro. Lex was offering him a lot of money to come participate in the defense of Metropolis, but it wasn't as though he was motivated by money. Now, revenge against the Hulk and another shot at the clawed mutant... well... “Oh my way to Metropolis.” Suddenly, Captain Marvel grabs Deathstroke by the side, holding him around the waist with his right arm. “Great! Millions of dollars of state of the art security guard the pedestal, which contains a single yellow gem, which is protected by a barely visible wall of force. Dark energy is cast from the shadows onto the force field protecting the gem. The force field lasts for several seconds, then dissipates, apparently overloaded. A red hand emerges from the shadows. Slowly, the hand picks up the yellow gem using its thumb and pointer fingers. While still obscured from view, it is clear that the mysterious figure is staring at the gem. “Let their be... change.” Elsewhere, two similar gems, purple and orange in color come to life. Immediately, Thor presses the attack, driving his hammer into Ares back. “Foul Olympian! This world is protected by the Asgard!" Thor lifts Mjolnir above his head, preparing to drive the hammer across the back of Ares' head. The massive downward strike narrowly misses, as Ares deftly rolls out of the way. The impact from the hammer strike is severe, however, causing a massive shockwave to move up the already devastated street. Ares springs to his feet, driving a right hook into Thor's head. He follows it up with a left to the body and a right to the shoulder, before driving a front-kick into The God of Thunder's chest, driving him across the street and through a nearby building. Ares spits on the ground. The Asgardian's presence was unfortunate and would undoubtedly complicate his plans. Still, he could not resist a good fight. Thor emerges from the top of the building, flying through the roof. As he spins Mjolnir above his head, dark clouds suddenly gather. A lightning bolt jumps from the sky, slamming into Ares. The electrical attack brings the God of War to his knees. Incensed, he grabs a nearby compact car and flings it into the air at Thor, who bats the car away with a casual swipe from Mjolnir. Another lightning bolt drops from the sky, too fast for even the Ares to dodge. This time, Thor presses the attack, flying toward Ares and slamming Mjolnir into the Greek God's face. The Gods engage in a vicious melee, with each landing a good number of solid, forceful blows. The difference in melee skill is subtle, but slowly, Ares gains the advantage. He beats the God of Thunder to the ground, lifting him over his head, and driving him neck first into the concrete. Smiling, Ares stands above the fallen Thor. Victory was always sweet. But it was not to be. Suddenly, a burst of lightning darts from the sky, striking Ares. This time, however, the attack is continuous, as the lightning unnaturally lasts and focuses on the God of Thunder. Meanwhile, Thor points Mjolnir at Ares, then unleashes a massive mystic burst of energy at the God of War. The combination of electric and mystic energies is intense. Moments later, Thor ceases the attack. Ares lies before him, incapacitated. It is likely that we will need his assistance to face the challenges of the near future!” Cyclops shakes his head, ever resistant to any suggestions made by the Master of Magnetism. “We've got X-Men out in the field! Wolverine and Storm and near Metropolis. We need to check on them first!” “Oh, Summers, you fool. Apocalypse is running amok, collecting powerful Horseman, and you're worried about being inclusive?” Cyclops jabs his finger into Magneto's chest. "I'm worried about the safety of my team!” Magneto eyes suggest that he is unconvinced. Subtly, Emma Frost slips between the bickering would-be alphas. “We'll just have to split up then. Some of us will head to the Mansion, some of us to Metropolis.” Magneto flicks his cloak and turns his back. “So we respond to reduced numbers by reducing our numbers. You are all fools.” Cyclops shakes his head, thinking about how nice it would be to slam an optic bolt into the back of Magneto's head. He resists the temptation. “Okay. Iceman and Angel. You two head to Metropolis, as you're independently mobile. The rest of us will head back to the Mansion.” Rogue speaks up. “I'll go with 'em.” Emma raises an eyebrow. “You can fly again?” Rogue nods. “Long story.” With that, Iceman, Archangel, and Rogue take to the air, using an ice slide, metallic wings, and cosmic flight (respectively) to fly toward the DC City of Metropolis. Jean flips the phone closed. “I just heard from Colossus. He's closer to Metropolis than New York. I told him meet up with Angel and Iceman.” Cyclops nods. He lunges forward, expertly slashing his claws across the back of Doomsday's knee, slicing through tendon and muscle. The DC bruiser bellows in pain. He then turns and drives a downward punch toward his attacker. The attack misses, however, as Wolverine has already retreated into a patch of nearby trees. Doomsday looks around, scanning the area for his attacker. The failure to find (and destroy) this combatant frustrates him. After several seconds, Doomsday shrugs and continues to stomp towards Metropolis. With his prey's attention gone, Wolverine again springs into action. He runs, virtually silently, in a crouching position. He rolls forward, again swiping his claws at Doomsday, this time slicing at his left Achilles. The attack drops Doomsday to his knees and forces another growling scream from him. Again, the destroyer twists around, attempting to drive a hammer fist into his attacker. And again, Wolverine has slipped away, into the nearby woods. Wolverine watches Doomsday look around. He had severed two major tendons in his opponents legs. That should be enough to slow him down, until help arrived. Doomsday, still on knees, looked around. True, the creature wasn't what one would call educated. But he was learning. And he was learning quickly. Slowly, he forced himself to his feet. And then, he restarted his march towards the heart of Metropolis. Wolverine sighed and shook his head. How was it possible that he could stand up? Doesn't anyone subscribe the basic principles of animal physiology anymore? Taking a deep breath, Wolverine again darted out of the woods and behind Doomsday. He aimed for the brute's other achilles, hoping to slow him down some more... “Urk!” With unnatural speed, Doomsday turns around and catches Wolverine by the throat. He twists his head, as he examines the clawed mutant. While linguistically impaired, Doomsday instinctively understood that his foe would try this attack again. Just. Frickin. Great....Wolverine thought to himself. He could feel his face flushing with blood, as Doomsday tightened his grip. Well, so-much for stealth. Wolverine slashes downward with his right claw, slicing Doomsday across the elbow and forcing him to release his choke hold. Wolverine then releases a feral yell, as he drives his left claw into Doomsday's right pectoral muscle. The DC monster falls over backwards with Wolverine atop him, caught off guard by the ferocity of his opponents attack. With his left claw still in Doomsday's chest, Wolverine reaches way back with his right claw, preparing to drive it deep into the monster's heart. . . . . . . Doomsday catches his hand as it comes downward. The claw is less than inch away from Doomsday's chest. Wolverine pushes down, trying to force his claw into Doomsday's chest. It's no use. The brute is significantly stronger than him. Adapting quickly, Wolverine withdraws his left claw form Doomsday's torso and swipes downward, somewhat haphazardly. The slash misses, however, as Doomsday fastens his grip on Wolverine's right wrist, before flinging the small mutant to the ground like a weightless doll. With menace in his eyes, Doomsday moves to his feet. Wolverine springs from the ground and leaps towards Doomsday. The DC Monster moves unnaturally quick and slams a right hook into Wolverine's jaw. The impact bounces his brain around inside of his armored skull, causing the X-Man to become quickly disoriented. Wolverine lands awkwardly on his face. Doomsday stands over the clawed mutant. “RAAggaraRRH!" Doomsday screams, expressing both victory and hatred. He slams his foot onto the back of Wolverine's head, instantly driving the mutant into the ground. Savagely, Doomsday yanks Wolverine up by his left foot, then clubs him in the face with a massive right hook. Doomsday then hoists the Marvel Mutant above his head, before driving him down across a massive bone growth in his knee in a gutbuster like maneuver. He then wraps his massive hand around Wolverine's head and flings him off into the nearby woods. With the mutant disposed of, Doomsday turns his attention back to Metropolis. . . . . . . Wolverine's body is mangled. This is nothing new. He's gone toe to toe with a number of dangerous foes. But he can't remember the last time he was beat up this badly, this quickly. Healing factor kicking in. Be a few minutes before his long re-inflates itself. Even longer before his ruptured spleen and appendix stop releasing poison into his system. Great. He'll be all shiny and new just as the Metropolis is destroyed. Not gonna happen. Not on his watch! Wolverine, through a mixture of willpower and mutant healing, forces himself to his feet, while literally pushing his insides back where they belong. Holding his stomach, he runs through the woods, following the scent of his foe. Soon, he manages to get ahead of Doomsday. With both claws out, Wolverine leaps the brush and lands directly infront of Doomsday. “I'm not done yet, bub.” Result: Doomsday defeated Wolverine's Match Rating: B Angle Rating: B+ * * * * * http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x92/d_w_w/DoctorStrange_alt02.jpg The Sorcerer Supreme detected that something was amiss. d_w_w
So yeah. The card was late (at least, in terms of when I thought I'd get it posted). Honestly, I have two upcoming events that are just pulling more and more time from my day. I'm taking my comprehensive exams in November and getting married in January. So... basically, I don't know when I'll get the next card up. I'll probably wait until its 75% written to post a preview.
crayon
Great show; I didn't mind the quick summary in the opening match at all either. Really enjoying this whole impending disaster with Hulk and Doomsday. Almost feels like they've been given a tsunami warning and everyone is doing their best to prepare or stop it before it destroys everything. I don't even know how you'd manage to juggle exams AND getting married, so completely understandable if this has to take a back seat (just don't forget about it! ) Also, if you haven't yet seen, v1.1 of the 9000-verse is up. May be difficult to import some of the characters into an existing game (debut age issues and whatnot) but at the least it'll give you some extra pictures to use in your diary Really really looking forward to Alucard vs Psylocke, if I haven't said so already

Zeel1
Just wanted to swoop by and let you know how much I've liked what I've read from this diary so far, truly a great read, and a very well done diary.

I'm not that big of a Superhero fan, nor do I know all of this diaries cast, but the stories being told really do seem to be comic book worthy. I'm really curious as to who the remaining Horsemen members are, and what type of impact they will make when their complete. And I really love how all the segments are narrated by the personalities of the characters involved, very nice touch.
