WWF vs. WCW 1991: The Pre-Monday Night War

Recommended Posts

Warrior needs the win after dropping the title, unless you just decide to bury him and if thats the case... I am on board with that!

Not many people would hold that against me, I suspect. Interestingly enough, I've still got big plans for the Warrior. He's got A* Menace and Charisma. Just so long as I only let him wrestle on B shows, he's actually pretty useful.

Now, if only I could learn to follow my own advice....

World Championship Wrestling's Saturday Night Main Event returns from Jacksonville Coliesum in Jacksonville, Florida.

A match made because of the turn a few weeks back, Beautiful Bobby Eaton will take on former partner 'Wildfire' Tommy Rich. There are rumors of Tommy Rich joining the corporation known as 'York Foundation'. Will the strength in number come into play or will Eaton stride as he seeks revenge?

The Ravishing One will battle the Badd One as 'Ravishing' Rick Rude takes on Johnny B. Badd. Can Rude continue his roll as he tries to get the championship committee to notice his talents or will Johnny B. Badd has what it takes to stop Rude with a lil' tutti frutti?

Paul E's other clients are in action as The Samoan Swat Team take on The Patriots. The Samoan Swat Team of Samu & Fatu have been on a tear as of late as they are currently undefeated. The Patriots are trying to get everything on track toward a tag team titles shot. Will Paul E's Samoan Duo continue with the carnage or can The Patriots get a win for ol' U S of A?

Big Van Vader with Harley Race will be in action against metal head, 'Heavy Metal' Van Hammer. There is word that Big Van Vader and Harley Race have been in the ears of WCW Championship comittee to be the next in line for NWA World title shot.. so Vader is looking to have a good showing against Hammer. On the other hand, Van Hammer is just looking to have a good time. Will it be all business with Vader or can Van Hammer party all-night to a victory?

Two members of the York Foundation will be in action in tag team competition as Michael Wallstreet and Dickson Murdoch team against Doug Furnas and Joe Gomez. Wallstreet and Murdoch are looking to establish the York Foundation as a elite group in World Championship Wrestling while Furnas and Gomez are trying just to make a name for themselves. Will it be experience or heart? Money or guts? The Foundation or Furnas & Gomez?

In the first of two Four Horsemen matches; the legend, Ole Anderson will take on undefeated rookie, 'War Eagle' Chris Chavis. Chavis currently holds victories over veterans Kevin Sullivan & Dick Slater.. can Chavis add Ole Anderson to the list? Or will the age and craft of Ole Anderson be the deciding factor?

In the main event and second of two matches featuring the Four Horsemen, 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair will face off with 'The Total Package' Lex Luger in a non-title match. This is Flair's first match since the lose to Sting in his quest to be NWA World Champion for the 8th time. While Lex is looking to make another impact in the world of wrestling after his showing in the WWF Royal Rumble. Both men are jocking for position (I miss old days with Gorilla Monsoon...) as neither tries to lose speed going into Clash of Champions.. who will be the winner?

PREDICTIONS

Tommy Rich versus Beautiful Bobby Eaton

Rick Rude versus Johnny B. Badd

The Samoan Swat Team versus The Patriots

Michael Wallstreet & Dickson Murdoch versus Doug Furnas & Joe Gomez

'War Eagle' Chris Chavis versus Ole Anderson

Non-Title: Lex Luger versus Ric Flair

Big Van Vader versus 'Heavy Metal' Van Hammer

This week on the Superstars....

The World Wrestling Federation travels to Puerto Rico, for another hour of exciting action. This week's episode will be a tag team spectacular, as every match on the card will be a tag match.

A patriotic duo, in 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and the returning 'Mr USA' Tony Atlas, will step into the ring with Power and Glory. Duggan is coming off the heels of a big tag win over Sgt Slaughter and Col Mustafa. Can he carry this momentum forward, with his veteran partner, or will Power and Glory prove to be too big an obstacle?

The new World Tag Team Champions, the Jimmy Hart-led Nasty Boys, will have their first title defense, against a pair of Jims: Jim Brunzell and Jimmy Powers. Will the Nasty Boys' title reign end before it even begins, or will this be the first of many successful defenses?

The Powers of Pain reunited last month, and proved to be a dominant force in the Royal Rumble. They will face off against one of the most popular teams in the WWF, as they take on The Bushwhackers. Can the Bushwhackers overcome the Powers of Pain, or will Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan's newest clients prove too much?

In the night's main event, former World Champion, The Ultimate Warrior, teams up with the WCW United States Champion, 'The Total Package' Lex Luger. They take on the ever-dangerous Rhythm 'n' Blues. Will Luger's presence help get The Ultimate Warrior back on the winning track, or will Rhythm 'n' Blues' experience crash the party?

All this, and we'll hear from 'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan. In the words of Billy Red Lyons, doncha dare miss it.

Prediction Key

This week on Primetime Wrestling....

The World Wrestling Federation hits Primetime once again, with another exciting night of in-ring action.

We'll kick things off in a big way, as 'Playboy' Buddy Rose returns to the scene of his greatest success, in the Pacific North West. Facing him will be 'The Texas Tornado' Kerry Von Erich. The former Intercontinental Champion is a powerful individual, but is he strong enough to overcome the 400-pound Rose? Will the Playboy's homecoming be a sweet one?

The unorthodox Max Moon will showcase his unique talents, taking on The Mountie. The Mountie claims to always get his man, but he's never faced an opponent that is truly out of this world. Will Max Moon blow the roof off the joint, or will he be yet another victim of The Mountie?

On last week's episode, 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan teamed up with Hulk Hogan, to defeat Sgt Slaughter & Col Mustafa. This week, the Iraqi sympathizers are adding Sheik Adnan to their team, and Hogan is occupied. Not to worry, as Hacksaw will be joined by the Legion of Doom in 6-man tag action. Which team will pick up a symbolic victory for their country?

In the first of two big main events, Mr Perfect puts his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. Will Perfect's recent wave of momentum continue, or will The Snake slither his way to championship gold?

Last week's main event saw the Royal Rumble winner, Andre the Giant challenge 'Macho King' Randy Savage for the WWF World Championship. Andre's opportunity was taken from him by the appearance of The Undertaker, who interfered on the Champion's behalf. This brought out Hulk Hogan, setting up tonight's main event, where Andre and Hogan will join forces in a huge tag team match, against Randy Savage and The Undertaker. Which of these monsterous teams will prevail? Will the ring even be big enough to contain this battle?

Prediction Key

Kerry Von Erich vs. 'Playboy' Buddy Rose

Did Buddy Rose actually balloon up to 400lbs !... Aferall he was a slim , trim, fit, cut chiseled and jacked 217lbs for most of his career... PS I'd like to see Buddy win , but dont think it will happen

Max Moon vs. The Mountie

The Mountie always gets his moon... I mean man

'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan & The Legion of Doom vs. Sgt Slaughter, Col Mustafa, & Sheik Adnan

Let me see Duggan drops Hogan and adds LOD, while Slaughter and Mustafa add Adnan...SQUASH

Kerry Von Erich vs. 'Playboy' Buddy Rose

Gone for the underdog here. I was always a fan of Buddy Rose.

Max Moon vs. The Mountie

The Mountie isn't much more than a midcarder but should still win this.

'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan & The Legion of Doom vs. Sgt Slaughter, Col Mustafa, & Sheik Adnan Have Duggan pin the Sheik to protect Sarge.

Intercontinental Championship

Jake 'The Snake' Roberts' vs. Mr Perfect © I'd give Snake a run.

'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan & Andre the Giant vs. 'Macho King' Randy Savage & The Undertaker Keep the Champ looking strong, pin Andre.

You are absolutely correct, Oldschool. That was an error on my part. I accidently clicked the wrong "Buddy", when looking info on him up.

Coming from Columbia, South Carolina is another addition of WCW Worldwide.

In singles competition, Freebird's enforcer Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy will go one-on-one with Tim Parker. Tim Parker pulled off a victory teaming with 'Z-Man' Tom Zenk against Page and Victory, but can he get a victory on his own against Freebird's Terry Gordy or will Gordy run over him?

Two unusually teams will go against each other as the woodsman and lunatic on Big Josh & Norman the Lunatic will team against two unknown men in The Equaliser & The Nightstalker. Which ragtag team will be the victor?

'Taskmaster' Kevin Sullivan will try to bounce back from his recent string of loses as he takes on pride of the tribe, Charlie Norris. Will Sullivan be able to take out the Native or will Norris be able to down the taskmaster?

Speaking of pride of the tribe, 'War Eagle' Chris Chavis will take on the always dangerous, Dan Spivey. Will the 'Dangerous' Dan Spivey be able to stop the roll that Chavis is on or will the War Eagle continue to soar?

In main event, Buddy Landell will try to defeat the current WCW Light Heavyweight Champion, 'Flyin' Brian Pillman. Buddy Landell has seem to dropped off the radar in World Championship Wrestling and is currently trying to get his stock to rise by defeating Brian Pillman. Pillman has recently be rolling with becoming the Light Heavyweight Champion. Will Landell surprise the world or will Pillman retain?

PREDICTION

Terry Gordy versus Tim Parker

Big Josh & Norman the Lunatic versus The Equaliser & The Nightstalker

Charlie Norris versus Kevin Sullivan

Dan Spivey versus 'War Eagle' Chris Chavis

Buddy Landell versus Brian Pillman

PREDICTION

Terry Gordy versus Tim Parker

Powerhouse Parker is about to get run over...

Big Josh & Norman the Lunatic versus The Equaliser & The Nightstalker

Evad/Dave Sullivan sucked, Never liked Adam Bomb and he's pretty green here (I believe) Norman eh, Big Josh is Matt Bourne, so thats why I'm picking this team

Charlie Norris versus Kevin Sullivan

Sullivan needs to get back on winning ways

Dan Spivey versus 'War Eagle' Chris Chavis

I wish we could've really seen "War Eagle" Chris Chavis in WCW rather than Tatanka in WWF....He started in Mid Atlantic Indies, in a fed that had Ken Shamrock wrestling as Vince Torelli.... I cant remember what it was called or how long it lasted, although I did enjoy it when I saw it... Anyways Chavis keeps his nice run going strong

Buddy Landell versus Brian Pillman

I'm afraid without much buildup Landell is the "Lets give Brian Pillman a good match, but there is no way I'm going to beat him guy"

Going to run some errands now, then I'll get the show up this evening.

I just wanted to drop a line here, to gloat about the fact that yesterday, Sgt. Slaughter called me at home.

Seriously.

One of my good friends was working at a fan ex thing, where Slaughter was the headline guest, and he handed the Sarge his phone, and asked him to call me. He told me to never let the enemy get a hold, and to "GO JOE!" He finished up by telling me to drop and give him 20, once he was off the line.

It was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had.

Now back to your regularily scheduled programming.

WWF

This week on the Wrestling Challenge....

Dustin Rhodes has suffered the departure of his father, from the WWF. He'll get his chance for a measure of revenge, as he faces one of Ted Dibiase's employees, 'Stunning' Steve Austin, in one-on-one competition. Sweeter still, if Rhodes is victorious, he'll earn a match with Dibiase, with the Million Dollar Belt on the line. Will this motivation be enough to propel the young Rhodes to victory, or will the Million Dollar Corporation once again prove that money talks?

Two weeks ago, we witnessed an incredible trade, as Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan reunited The Powers of Pain; going the other way was Haku. With Slick as his new representation, this dangerous man will face 'El Matador' Tito Santana. Can Santana subdue this bull of a man, or will Slick's services lead Haku to new heights?

In the night's main event, the British Bulldog steps into the ring with 'Canadian Strongman' Dino Bravo. With the show taking place in Quebec, Bravo will be in front of his home crowd. Will this be enough to carry him to victory? Will the Bulldog continue to develop as a singles competitor, or are his best days behind him?

Prediction Key

Dustin Rhodes vs. 'Stunning' Steve Austin

Tito Santana vs. Haku

British Bulldog vs. Dino Bravo

Prediction Key

Dustin Rhodes vs. 'Stunning' Steve Austin

Austin is still a bit new to the Fed here, and you already ave the next matchup booked, so I'll go with Dustin, even though Austin (even the Stunning version) is one of my all-time favs

Tito Santana vs. Haku

Love Tito, but his time has passed, as he is relegated to jobber to the stars... Haku still has some mileage in him and with the doctor style now at his side, this could kickstart a new push

British Bulldog vs. Dino Bravo

Bulldog's pretty popular in Canada as well, Bravo puts up a good fight, but Bulldog takes this one

Wow @ the Andre/Hogan vs Savage/Undertaker match only getting a C. I wasn't expecting that at all.

By the way, receiving that call from Sarge was all types of awesome.

On to the predictions...

Dustin Rhodes vs. 'Stunning' Steve Austin

Hate to choose Dustin here, but I just can't see this feud ending here.

Tito Santana vs. Haku

Chico all the way. Haku is better off as a tag team wrestler

British Bulldog vs. Dino Bravo

Going out on a limb here and choosing one of my childhood favs. As I've said before, I'd love to see him get pushed, but I can't bring myself to do it
