Davis Wayne Newton w/ Phil Vibert vs. Sam Keith

I could see this one going either way but DWN have been clearly getting a big push so I assume he´s the one who pick up the win.

Canadian Elemental & ???? vs. Elimination Protocol

Protocol are still jobbers.

Chance Fortune vs. Zimmy

Doing slighly more at the moment.

Giant Tana vs. UK Dragon

Tough one and I love to go with UK Dragon but I have to assume that Tana is higher on the ladders.

Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. the Machines

Machines are still the better team here.

Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Freedom Fighters (Aaron Andrews & Eddie Peak)

Riders are more established as a team.

Jack Bruce vs. Tommy Cornell

Cornell is the one who is more on a spotlight right now.

Davis Wayne Newton w/ Phil Vibert vs. Sam Keith

There's a little missing from this which separates it from the classic it could be, but there isn't much. The Triple Threat in particular shines, clearly aiming to outdo Sam Keith.

Davis can't yet outwrestle Sam Keith – but he comes close on a number of occasions, and when he finds himself losing ground, he has places to go, outpunching the veteran, dazzling from the air, and, above all, using the resilience of youth to outlast his opponents.

It takes him nearly sixteen minutes to stem the tide fully, and even then, it's arguable how much of his comeback is skill and how much is luck – but as Keith slowly, windedly, begins to set up for the Proton Lock, Davis kicks his knee out from under him – and transitions to the STF, forcing the submission from the legend!

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/ChristianFaith.jpg

Black and white fills the screen, and once the design ripples away, we see a monochrome image of Christian Faith, seated, head bowed slightly, on the steps of a church. Sharp-eyed fans might well recognise Faith's parish church in San Antonio.

Faith isn't looking at the camera. He draws in a breath and begins to speak.

“I started out in professional wrestling in 1984,” he begins. “In the old Texas Wrestling League for a year and a half, then... my best friend found me.

“I hadn't worried. The Lord helps those who help themselves. I was putting in the work. I had the training, I had the drive... I had faith my career would take off. And it did. My best friend signed me to his company. It was growing. He and I grew together. I'd respected Micky Starr, Mark Krogan, and I became one of the names of the next generation. I fought alongside Rip Chord. Sam Strong. For a little while, Sam Keith.

“Only two of us still fighting.” Still not looking at the camera, he smiles slightly. “I've outlasted some who came in later. Four World Heavyweight Championships.

“I've seen so many come and go.

“My best friend had an eye for talent. At first, I stayed because he was as close a friend as I've ever had. Over time, I came to realise he found the best wrestlers, the ideal people for me to test myself against. It's only recently that's stopped being the case. It's only recently I left... left my best friend behind.

“But I wasn't the only one. I saw Remo come in as a rookie. I've watched him develop, develop further, training, fixating. Nothing matters to him now, but that's just because now, he can overcome it all.

“There was a time, and it wasn't many years ago, that I looked forward to that fight. I had faith he would become strong enough to challenge me, and I had faith I would win out in the end.

“He is strong enough to challenge me... but it's taken longer than I expected. I'm getting old, you know. Not as fast as I was. Not as strong as I was.

“For a while, coming here, I feared this match. But since I came here I've seen Jeremy Stone. Sam Keith. My teammate, Ricky Dale Johnson.

“I've seen what age and experience can do. Generation Omega may be the wave of the future – but I'm still here, and they're not the only boys of the future. My buddy Pete, Outlaw to the core. Aaron Andrews. Jeremy's younger brother, Edd. Sean Deeley. Others.

“The battle will be fought when I'm gone, and I have faith that honour, dignity, sportsmanship are going to win out.

“But more than that... Jeremy, Dan, Ricky, understand that because of you... this month, at Psycho Circus, when I face Remo, I know I can win. Maybe I won't... but I. Have. Faith.”

Elemental Energy vs. Elimination Protocol

As the video ends, Elimination Protocol are in the ring. Thrillseeker hits, and Canadian Elemental emerges, but he stays on the stage, well away from the ring... and as the music swells, out comes another masked HOLY CRAP IT'S AMERICAN ELEMENTAL!

The crowd are psyched just off that, and when the match begins, the two Elementals explode into blurs of speed, making full use of the lucha libre rules to tag in and out, lightning-quick, hitting double teams and explosively nailing big signature moves.

The Protocol get the occasional moment of dominance in, but not many. In the end, American Elemental dumps both of the Protocol in sequence with Elemental Suplexes and rolls out of the ring, allowing CanEl to crash down on Jameson with a Phoenix Firebird Splash for the victory.

Edd Stone and Champagne Lover fill the big screen – in what appears to be a stables. “Got one!” Edd announces triumphantly, holding up a horseshoe. Doing so causes the goggles precariously balanced on his forehead to almost fall off; he has to steady them with his free hand.

Lover nods approval. “We just need it painted gold, now,” he says.

Edd grins. “Got you covered, bro. Golden body paint in my gear bag.”

The Lover frowns.

“Come on, man,” Edd wheedles. “It's edible!”

The Lover rolls his eyes.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/GreaseHogg.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/LeadBelly.jpg

“We'll take that,” comes a voice from the door. Eternal Party look over there to see Billy Fonda and Peter Hopper stepping into the stall, wading through the straw.

The two tag teams size one another up. Hopper sneers. “What the hell are those things on your heads?”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/Guide.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/Scout.jpg

Before Eternal Party can answer, the straw rustles. Two figures, until now perfectly disguised, rise out of the straw. It's the New Wave!

The three tag teams look at each other. Wordlessly, Guide holds out his hand to Edd for the horseshoe.

“You realise,” Edd says slowly, “we brought backup?”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/Gorgon-1.jpg

The Riders look over their shoulder. Gorgon, another set of goggles on her forehead, having stepped in to bar the way, shuts and bolts the door behind her.

“Now,” Lover takes over smoothly. “If I could answer your earlier question?”

He reaches up to the goggles resting on his forehead, as do Edd and Gorgon.

-DWEE-

Edd superkicks the lamp. The room is plunged into blackness. Lover speaks. “Night. Vision. Goggles.”

The dark screen erupts into sounds of violence. Partway through, a girlish shriek is heard, then a loud impact, then a vast amount of giggling.

After the violence dies away, Edd speaks up. “Hey, 'Tonio. That dude tried to powerbomb me! You believe that?”

“I saw, Edd,” Lover's voice responds wearily. “I had goggles too, remember? They were my idea.”

“Oh, yeah, duh. Oh, man, I gotta tweet a photo of this...”

Chance Fortune vs. Zimmy

Zimmy doesn't even let Chance get started before the assault begins. The young Fortune has clearly been improving, though, as he rallies and drives a fightback, nailing Zimmy with a variety of moves we haven't seen from him before.

And then Zimmy blocks one – and from there on, Fortune is shut down. Zimmy eschews his patented, lethal Blood Rush, putting Chance away with the less impactful split-legged moonsault as the would-be championship contender looks to prove a point.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TommyCornell_alt1jt.jpg

Tommy Cornell turns to face his former protege, grinning wildly. “How's the leg, sunbeam?” he asks. “Or the neck, or the arm?”

“You actually spent money on buying a main event against me last night?” Hawkins glowers.

“Well, yeah. I'll admit I don't like Marlowe – and sooner or later I'll find a way to shut that extortioner down – but he really did help. I think you might not make it to Psycho Circus, y'know, sunshine.”

Hawkins glowers. “You realise O'Curle would've had to forfeit his title AND Morgan's if he'd won?”

“I realise the main reason he didn't win is Zimmy got involved,” Cornell says. “No, I checked with 'em. O'Curle said he might hold onto it and fight me in London in two months. Morgan said it was alright. But both of 'em were considering vacating it in favour of their tag belts – those lads really wanna send a message.

“Make peace with it, sunshine. You're never, ever, fighting me. Hope you're ready for your next defence...”

Cornell swaggers off, keeping his eyes on the injured champion until he's out of range.

Giant Tana vs. UK Dragon

Hell of a fighter, UK Dragon. Hell of a fighter. And he shows this, here, taking the fight to Tana throughout.

At one point he dominates strongly enough that, after coming off the top rope for an improvised flying jawbreaker, he goes for the Dragon Drop – and he gets Tana off his feet – but he can't hold him!

Tana shoves free – Dragon rebounds – Samoan drop! Tana plays to the crowd – Big Fat Samoan Squash! Seated pin, Tana shooting fingers at the crowd! One, two, three!

Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. the Machines

There's been a real undercurrent in the TCW undercard these past couple of months. Every minor player seems to have stepped up their game, and the Fly Boys had plenty to begin with.

They create opportunities, they show off their stuff – but ultimately, they're up against the crown jewels of the tag division.

And the Machines, when they rally, rally hard. The Ammo Dump sends Donnie bouncing out of the ring, it hits so hard. Jimmy falls to the King of the Hill, then taps to the Complete Package.

Shout At The Devil begins to play, and Mayhem Midden appears. “You out there, Phil?” he calls, looking around the crowd. After a few moments, he smiles, and the camera follows his gaze to find the Generation Omega leader making his way through the crowd to the ring.

From that safe distance – stage to ring – the two men stare one another down. “Good,” Midden continues “Listen, Phil – this whole takeover bid. You're aware it's not going to work, right?”

Vibert shrugs. “I might have to make some shady deals to get 51% and final say,” he says. “But you already can't rely on winning against me. Anyway, Ken, I don't know why you're complaining. As of last night, my negotiations with the Florida investors broke down. We couldn't come to a deal – but I managed to do them a favour anyway.”

“And what might that be?”

Vibert smiled. “They knew they'd get no peace as long as they had them. So they've gifted those shares... to you. Maybe they couldn't stand me... but they wanted Remo to leave their house.”

Midden's eyebrows skyrocket, becoming almost hidden in his bandanna. “They gave their shares to me?”

Vibert nods. “I'll admit, I've been expecting to run into trouble for a long time, Ken. At the moment, all the shares you and Tommy need for guaranteed victory at any vote are in my hands.

“And all the shares I need for guaranteed victory at any vote are in his... and yours, as of last night.”

“Why would you do that?”

“Because sooner or later, I was going to want to cut down on dubious practices and expensive purchases. You know I have what you need. You have something I need.

“So let me do you a favour, Ken.

“Malice in Wonderland. Just in time for the AGM. Seven matches.

“I win, and TCW is mine.

“And if we win, TCW is ours?”

Vibert smiles. “No, Ken. I'm not in a weak position. I don't see any reason I should lose it all.

“But I'll sell my shares. Market value right now is around $70 million. If your seven wrestlers can put together ten million each... you get my stock.

“Think about it, Ken. It's gonna take some effort for you to get this all together. But you've got the option, now.”

Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Freedom Fighters

Eddie begins for the fighters, standing opposite Billy Fonda. The two circle – lariat by Fonda rocks Peak, but doesn't take him off his feet. Eddie comes back with a huge uppercut, and Fonda falls back a couple of paces but, again, doesn't fall. He steadies, then hits the ropes himself – big boot, and this time Eddie's shoulders hit the mat!

Eddie comes back up but ducks Fonda's lariat. He shoves the biker clear – big boot himself ducked by Fonda – Fonda hits the ropes for momentum – flying shoulderblock! Both men down! Rather than regain his feet, Eddie shifts position and scrambles, holding Billy down and firing off rapid-fire punches to the head. He tries a quick cover – one, two, no!

The 'Bloody-Handed God' grins, kneeling back on his haunches, and tags in Aaron.

Andrews, easily the smallest man in the ring, is known for a strength game – but it's clear from the off that he knows that won't be enough here. He tries for an armbar, and Billy powers to his feet despite it, breaking the hold by lifting Aaron bodily and slamming him to the mat.

Out goes Billy and in comes Peter. Aaron meets him with an armdrag – actually getting the big man off his feet – but Peter shows some agility of his own, hitting the canvas shoulder-first and rolling to his feet, hitting the ropes in a fluid motion and coming off them with a bulldog! He bounces up as Carl Batch, ringside, explodes in confidence, yelling praise into the microphones of the announce team.

Taking control, Peter busts out his big power moves – a powerslam, then a German Suplex. He pulls Aaron up for another, but Andrews elbows free, reversing, and he nails his own German. Bridged! ONE, TWO, T- no!

Out goes Peter, in comes Billy, and Aaron vaults to the second rope, rebounding to put Billy down briefly with a leg lariat. Fonda is up again fast, and this time Andrews is more ready for him – Spinebuster! Cover! ONE, TWO, TH- NO!

Billy snags Aaron's throat with one hand as he rises, then applies his other to the chokehold. Rydeen bomb by Fonda! ONE, TWO – NO!

Andrews uncorks a huge volley of punches, dazing Billy long enough for Aaron to break away. Both men make the tag simultaneously, and Hopper and Peak charge into the ring at the same time.

Peter goes to one knee at the right time to backdrop Eddie, immediately snagging a half-nelson/armbar combo, looking to keep Peak from moving, keep him locked in place. Eddie powers back to his feet, snapmares clear, and attempts a full nelson himself as the announce team comment on the unusually technical nature of the three powerhouses' game in this match.

As they reach the conclusion that the competitors are, likely, uncertain that their strength alone can carry the day against the others, Hopper manages to reach the ropes, hooking the second rope with one knee to force Ray Johnson to break the hold.

Eddie drags Peter back to the centre and hits a big vertical suplex, then goes to the second rope, coming off with an elbow – but Hopper rolls clear! Big boot by Hopper! Whip to the turnbuckle sends Eddie crashing in hard as the Riders make the tag! Billy catches Eddie on the rebound – tilt-a-whirl slam!

Eddie slowly staggers back to his feet – but he was baiting him in! HUGE belly-to-belly sends Billy crashing to the outside! Peak tags out! Diving forearm from Andrews!

Aaron rolls into the ring, and gets jumped from behind by Peter. Sit-out piledriver from Hopper – ONE, TWO, THRE – Somehow, Aaron gets the shoulder up. Hopper goes for a triple powerbomb, but off the third, Aaron somehow counters to a huracanrana! Tag out!

Eddie levels Hopper with a lariat, then turns back to his corner where Aaron is waiting, perched on the top rope. He picks Andrews up and throws him at Hopper as he rises, allowing Aaron to take him down into a cover – ONE, TWO, THREE!

Jack Bruce vs. Tommy Cornell

These two do mesh well together, but the match itself is not as good as the previous contest. Cornell has a slight edge throughout, but Bruce's enthusiasm and drive mean that he can get the advantage back from time to time – and when he does, Cornell has to work pretty hard to stay on top.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/SammyBach_alt1.jpg

Still, the company owner has the advantage throughout. After a while, Bruce throws a dropkick which either goes wild or intentionally nails Sam Sparrow, putting him down, and Sammy Bach arrives in the ring to wreak havoc.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TroyTornado_nacht6.jpg

The two Darkwave men get a couple of big double-teams in before Troy Tornado also arrives, levelling Bruce with a missile dropkick and catching Bach with a Tornado Driver. He drags the master manipulator Bach to his feet and whips him to the ropes, nailing a Star Maker that sends both of them tumbling out of the ring, to the floor.

As Cornell and Bruce stagger back to their feet in the ring, Tornado can be heard shouting accusingly that “This has gone far enough!”

Bruce tries for the New York Minute, but Cornell throws him off and hits the Rough Ride, following up with the Guilt Trip, using both his biggest moves to make sure of the victory.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/book_open-2.jpg

Monday 15th December 2009

The big news this weekend is huge; Richard Eisen is offering guaranteed contracts again. He's also bringing in a bunch more people, going back to their old pattern – and our new one – of establishing a truly global income base.

I'm glad for him. I really am. I phoned up Peter Michaels, as a matter of fact, to give him a tip – a kid who's had a beginner's camp in the Danger Zone who really, really reminds me of watching Gorgeous George DeColt in young, arrogant heel mode, back when I was twelve or thirteen; green, but already showing gold underneath. We've no room for him in TCW any time soon, but he needs a contract to train somewhere if he's to develop fast.

And I've got a real soft spot for Spencer. The Supreme Wrestling University is the perfect place for him right now.

Richard's success has led to some odd reactions in the locker room – Phil Vibert is lobbying for Wolf Hawkins to lay down an open challenge to their current champion and the man I'd give most of the credit for getting them back in good shape, Rich Money. Sean McFly, Dave Bonham and Dan Elderberry are leading a faction who just want to make sure every show we put on outdoes them.

Tyson Baine is asking for an angle to put over one of our youngsters as an absolute killer by putting him all the way out – then out of his contract. He thinks he could make some real money over there, and I don't disagree. Tommy and I are talking it over.

But the oddest reaction of all is Tommy's. Richard's news came at the perfect time for us – it means the entire North American pro wrestling fanbase is looking in the wrong direction as we settle our current contract dealings – some big news out of Canada. We were just going to do this as a fairly generic thing, but this has got Tommy talking about how TCW needs to be the first wrestling promotion to 'do an Invasion properly'.

Which has me thinking about how to do this. Fortunately, we should be able to get this started before anyone actually notices the news – Total Wrestling goes out ahead of their missing final TV show. Larry Wood had the book over there, and while Tommy and Alex signed the contracts, he and I were shut away going over tapes.

I haven't wrestled Larry in years, but he's one of the sport's true professionals. You won't find anyone with an unkind word to say about him, and his first priority was to make sure that the boys under his book went where they'd do best. He was honest with me about who we should keep and shouldn't, and once I'd got my list, he started calling around other promotions for the rest.

For all that it's an intimidating task, I'm looking forward to it. After Malice in Wonderland, this will be in a position to take centre stage for a while. An Invasion is a tricky thing to do right, but I think Larry's got the right idea. He's been building a lot of his stories of late using the internet, under a policy Kirk Jameson would love right now – each wrestler has a blog, and sometimes they have to post stories or videos that promote the angles. Other than that, so long as they never break kayfabe, they're free to get over however they want.

I need to stop writing this, in fact, because I need to call someone and tell him what he needs to write on his blog tonight.

I'll be totally honest; I have been tempted, after finding this was a possible move, to extend the diary. But a GOOD Invasion doesn't just run six months. And I don't think I have another year in me. Not without, say, doing a Self and breaking it into chapters, and I suspect I'd just never quite come back after one of the breaks.

Which is why I'm admitting the Invasion up front; you won't see all of it in detail, though I'll try to summarise the plans for afterward... well, afterward.

I may steal 'Banger's story seed for some of that too.

As far as the lineups for Invasion go - yes, plural - you'll see one soon. You won't see the other for a while. But I advise you to wait and see.

That said, some things that won't come clear in time for the end:

We brought over two of their PPVs, too. Destructive Energy, still a weak name for a PPV and one of the ones on my list to eliminate after Threatening Behaviour and Just Another Day, will be replaced by In The Company Of Legends - and as Malice in Wonderland is a 2-day event, why shouldn't Total Mayhem be followed the next night by the DeColt WrestleFestival?

<p><strong>Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy</strong> vs. Young Guns</p><p>

<em>This is a close one and I like both teams too so I go with gut feeling that Fly Boys are slighly higher on ladders.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny Bloodstone</strong> vs. Mikey James</p><p>

<em>I know you plan to job Johnny a little bit but is James over enough to get the win? I´d say no but he will get close.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Aaron Andrews</strong> vs. Eric Tyler</p><p>

<em>Andrews has been going up while Tyler has been going down since they last clashed so Aaron gets the win.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TAG WARS</p><p>

<strong>Leading Lights</strong> vs. Monsters of Myth (Cherry Bomb & Gorgon) vs. JeriLynn Stone & Kate Dangerous vs. Shiori Jippensha & Stephanie Wade</p><p>

<em>Any of the first three teams could take this but Leading Lights just feel little bit more unified (or at least more experienced as tag team) than the rest.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Darkwave vs. <strong>the Kreed</strong></p><p>

<em>Another close one here but I think that Kreed is the more important team at the moment.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TCW World Heavyweight Championship</p><p>

<strong>Wolf Hawkins © w/ Phil Vibert </strong>vs. John Anderson vs. Troy Tornado</p><p>

<em>I don´t see Hawkins dropping his title to either of these guys though Tornado does have a small shot to get it.</em></p>

<p><strong>Fly Boys</strong> w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Young Guns</p><p>

<em>The Fly Boys started low on the card, but have been on the point of a push for a while. The Young Guns started in the midcard, and have slipped lower.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny Bloodstone</strong> vs. Mikey James</p><p>

<em>Seriously.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Aaron Andrews</strong> vs. Eric Tyler</p><p>

TAG WARS</p><p>

<strong>Leading Lights</strong> vs. Monsters of Myth (Cherry Bomb & Gorgon) vs. JeriLynn Stone & Kate Dangerous v. Shiori Jippensha & Stephanie Wade</p><p>

<em>Established tag team, let's keep 'em dangerous.</em></p><p>

<em>Heh. I said 'Dangerous'.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Darkwave vs. <strong>the Kreed</strong></p><p>

<em>Kreed are potential Main Event guys, Darkwave are still just a damn good tag team.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<p>Prediction Key:</p><p>

<em>Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Young Guns</em></p><p> </p><p>

I dunno...Eddie Peak kills them all. Or something that I care about.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny Bloodstone</strong> vs. Mikey James</p><p> </p><p>

Curiously, James does not work in Japan. Oh, and Bloodstone because.</p><p> </p><p>

What are "Tag Wars"? Is that where the most "who the **** are you?" person wins? It's not? Oh well; already cast my vote.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Darkwave vs. the Kreed</em></p><p> </p><p>

I can't choose.</p><p> </p><p>

Because **** your plans and **** old champions. Also, I will laugh <strong>so hard</strong> if Hawkins gets injured. I really, <em>really</em> want that to happen. Because **** YO' PLANS.</p>

<p>Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. <strong>Young Guns</strong></p><p>

<em>I'm pretty sure I read you say somewhere that you're looking to allow Donnie and Jimmy to ride off into the sunset and boss a regional promotion somewhere. Unless you've got the same thing in mind for the Guns, then I think they pick up the duke.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny Bloodstone</strong> vs. Mikey James</p><p>

<em>He's in the doghouse, but doghouse does not mean jobbing to Mikey James.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Aaron Andrews</strong> vs. Eric Tyler</p><p>

<em>At the beginning of this diary, this was foregone in the other direction, but times have changed, and old man Tyler shouldn't win this.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TAG WARS</p><p>

<strong>Leading Lights</strong> vs. Monsters of Myth (Cherry Bomb & Gorgon) vs. JeriLynn Stone & Kate Dangerous vs. Shiori Jippensha & Stephanie Wade</p><p>

<em>I won't be surprised if the new team or the champion team win this, but Leading Lights I think need to continue to look a threat ahead of their challenge. Also Goodlooks is both younger and better than I originally thought, for some reason I had it in my head that she wasn't very good.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Darkwave vs. the Kreed</p><p>

<em>Tough call, so I say draw. Bach and Zimmy need to look good, true... but so does Greg right now, is my feeling.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Yeah but no. Wolf's fighting all the way to Malice in Wonderland.</em></p>
